Hot take, apparently, but genuinely harassing or insulting anyone's religion is not ok.
Criticizing religious institutions, proselytizing, extremism, or horrible behaviors/beliefs done in the name of a religion? YES! Totally. That should be criticized.
Unpromptedly popping up on random posts by religious folks to say anything along the lines of "god isn't real", "the pagan gods are fake", "there is only one true religion", "[any religious group] are stupid/dangerous/barbaric" -- NO.
It's rude. It's unnecessary. And sometimes, especially in the case of minorities or oppressed groups, it's outright hateful. Theres nothing helpful, funny, or cool about randomly insulting one of the most personal aspects of a persons life. Unless it's invited or warranted, stfu.

I think eclecticism may also have at times a poor reputation because of some new age paganism/witchcraft trends. Pagan religions are kind of lumped together and treated like fucking yugioh cards in a lot of popular witchcraft books, and often have a ton of cultural appropriation and use of closed practices. If that is the only and main way that people have seen eclecticism, OFC they would think it's awful. In reality, properly practicing eclectic paganism and witchcraft needs a lot of work and research. It's not just throwing shit together without thinking about it as it's often seen as.
the weird guilt of being and eclectic pagan??? like guilt over not having/picking one path feels like/is seen as picking none rather than being it's own mixed practice. Maybe its tiktokification idk. Or the very exclusive, strictly single beleif rules of abrahamic religions?
And, alternatively, guilt/shame about choosing a specific path as well (esp if its one you're not a part of by blood.)

I'm also trying to keep in mind how so much of US witchery (and I'm sure elsewhere, though I can only speak to the US as I live here) is so so mixed. Just look at the practices in appalachia alone--- there is so much folk magic brought in from all different cultures. While paganism (imo) takes more work in terms of properly learning different cultural beliefs and practices, it's eclecticism in such a culturally mixed space would make sense to follow.

like feeling uncomfortable being a largely norse pagan while not having immediate family from nordic countries. My great grandparents immigrated from Sweden, but I'm not gonna be like "i have 1/16 VIKING BLOOD " (which i see from cis men pagans a lot lmao) bc it's just not reflective of my family or culture at all. I understand I don't need to be tied culturally or ethnically to most pagan religions to be a part of them, but idk it's just weird sometimes. Probably in this case specifically bc of the large amount of norse pagan cis men who both almost always misunderstand the religion and also make the most insane reaches to 'include'/'prove' themselves as a valid practioner.

"Make One Wrong Move" Curse
Tumblr media
This curse is for people who are dangerously close to to making a mistake that will do some serious harm, people who have hurt you (or others) more than once, or for people who like to cause havoc and reap no consequences. The idea is that anytime the target does something to hurt you or someone else, the curse will be there to do its work, surrounding them with general fuckery. It’s a “keep to your path, mind your business, and don’t fuck with me or anyone else” sort of curse.
You will need:
🗡️ An empty toilet paper roll, or an empty paper towel roll cut in half.
🗡️ A taglock, picture, or their name written as fully as you know it. If you use the latter, it’s better to meditate on this paper and visualize who you are cursing for specificity.
🗡️ Pins
🗡️Tape, paper, or cloth
🗡️ Red or black string
🗡️ Lime or lemon peel (dried); red, black, or cayenne pepper; rose thorns; dirt (optional.)
🗡️ A black candle (or use a color you associate with the target)
🗡️ Dragon’s Blood incense for an extra “kick”, and for protection
To begin:
Note: this is best performed on a Tuesday or Saturday/on a full, waning, or new moon.
🔮 Light your incense and candle, create your space to cast, and call forth any deities you may want to work with.
🔮 Focus on the taglock/write your target’s name down and meditate on it, focusing on the person the curse is intended for.
🔮 Place the taglock or the slip of paper into the paper towel roll and (carefully!) begin driving the pins into the empty roll, like a pincushion. The idea is that the taglock will be suspended in the middle of the inside of the roll by all of the pins, so that they have to stick to a “straight and narrow” path.
🔮 Close one end of your roll with paper, tape, or cloth and add in your optional ingredients (note: the herbs I mentioned are placeholders, albeit ones that will still mess your target up, feel free to substitute your preferred cursing herbs, if you have them!), imagining how these things may affect them in time.
🔮 Wrap your string around the pins, weaving a web around the roll to bind the target.
🔮 When you are done, close the other end with cloth, paper, or tape, and seal the roll with the wax from your candle.
🔮 Though this curse will work on its own time, you can shake the roll anytime they piss you off just to throw a curve ball their way. ;)
To undo the curse:
🥀 Soften the wax with a lighter and begin taking the pins out, imagining the target relaxing with each one you pull out, easing them back into normalcy.
🥀 When you have your pins back, burn the roll, herbs, tape, and all to release the energy of the curse back into the earth. Additionally, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN BURNING THE REMNANTS OF THE CURSE. Since many curse ingredients may be toxic, be sure to DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE you decide to include them in this curse.

Gouache painting with pigment liner gift for the owner of the local gallery I display at as he’s spent many, many hours of his time packing my ceramic work for shipping 🐇🌸
id: A painting with black line art featuring an alert, pink eyed, white rabbit with a dewlap mid stride against a vibrant blue background. Pink flowering vines with red berries surround it in a rectangular border and spill across its back.Yellow stars are scattered about.

Have you ever offered memories? Maybe an old picture found while cleaning up of a trip you enjoyed, a loved one, or simply yourself as a kid! Or perhaps an old drawing, or an object (book/toy and the like) which sparks nostalgia. If you seek to deepen your connection with a God, this is a wonderfully fulfilling ritual to engage in. If it’s an object you’re getting rid of, why not put it up on your altar for a day or two? Share the memory with your God/Gods, and tell them about it before you let it go!

Vultures are holy creatures.
Tending the dead.
Bowing low.
Bared head.
Whispers to cold flesh,
