I was writing up a post to help encourage folks who’ve always wanted to start a webcomic to dive in- and that they shouldnt have to fear ‘being perfect’ to start one And as I was going along, it made me sad to realise that.. there is an expectation now in the webcomic sphere, as much as I want to deny it (and that it should NOT stop folks from creating!!! please keep creating, no matter your level) I’m bummed out about the changes in the webcomic sphere over the past 5 years, i’m disappointed that there has been changes to this medium that was KNOWN for all of the different skill levels and flavours of so many different creators. I want to combat that. I want to see more beginner art, I want to see that excitment and embracing of growth. I want to see what made webcomics so accessible to so many creators and readers flourish again. Hopefully, if you see this post, and you’ve always wanted to make a webcomic but felt you weren’t ‘good enough’ : Make one anyways. Have fun even if you don’t know all the ‘ins and outs’ of comics. Make one because you’re obsessed with your characters and you wanna share them with the world. Make one just because you can, and not because it has to fit in some impossible standard we’ve forced onto ourselves because of the changing landscape. Start one, and have fun doing it for YOU!

It feels like a a very weird fandom connection and I don’t know how to truly feel

I keep waking up and having the exact same dream about being eaten by an octopus over and over while my brain tells me it's not a dream.

Feeling almost normal today, but I will continue to avoid places with online spaces animated gifs for a few days.

By almost normal, I mean:

— that I actually feel a bit beaten up and my insides are entirely empty of anything that resembles food being processed by the body.

Which is to say that I am sort of hungry, my muscles hurt (especially in my back and legs), but I am no longer in a low-key, thankfully short neurological firestorm.

Actually, it was nothing like the pre-successfully medicated variant of this shit where I was a ball of painful misery in a dark room.

This time I actually read multiple books (paper based, soft ambient light so I could see the printed words). I could even vaguely pay attention to gentle-on-the-visual-perception-neurons on TV, and then escape into my book if I had sudden doubts.

Anyhow, unlike the past few days, my brain is attuned to all of the things I was doing, I wanted to do, I had planned to do, and all I did not do.

Fwiw, whenever people or even medical organizations refer to migraines as “headaches” I mute them, delete them, ghost them, or literally tell them to fuck off until they educate themselves (yes, I have said that to actual medical doctors, word for word). it is a neurological disease. Repeat after me: a neurological disease.

Headache is a symptom that may or may not even occur.

Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so " bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are.

Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.
