Threads (owned by Meta, formerly Facebook) is a text-based messaging app that looks similar to Twitter available in iOS or Android.

To get the app, type the word “Threads” into the search bar of your Instagram.

For all of five seconds I considered getting Threads, then I remembered why I left Facebook about a decade ago:

Feel like the EU is protecting us from the Threads app (even though it's just Meta not making sure it matches laws yet)... anyway, it's only been out for a few hours but based on what I've heard so far, it's just IG in Twitter format so I'm winning in not being able to get on it because they killed my IG account when they replaced the "recent posts" section in tags with "top recent"

Apparently the home feed is also random accs in addition to ppl you follow, just like IG... and the content rules are equally strict (it's basically an IG extension, you can't even delete the acc without also deleting your IG acc)

The only app that is "like Twitter" that I'm interested in is Bluesky, waiting to be able to join... I just want something that's really close to twitter that works and even now, with all the issues my Twitter acc performs the best (in terms of interaction)

The new Instagram threads app is pretty gnarly.

It was cute the first few hours of launch seeing everyone with childlike wonder as they posted for the first time.

Also what do you mean that I have to delete my Instagram account to delete my threads account??💀💀
