Pen's Song-Story Writing Challenge Extravaganza Submission!
@alilbatwrites your song was "The Law" by Reach, here is a snippet based on that!!
When Hero got back to the league from saving the city, they had expected celebration, or at least a thank-you. What they got instead was… eye-opening to say the least. They opened the doors to a bunch of stone-faced, enhanced superiors.
“Uh…what?” Hero asked, confused, “did I cause collateral damage again? I thought I was careful this time!”
“It isn’t that, Hero,” Superhero started.
“You took Supervillain down in under two minutes,” another super stated.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” Hero joked.
When they received no response, Hero faltered.
“It…it’s not a bad thing, right?”
“Hero, you know our League is here to keep the nation’s peace,” Superhero said, “and to eliminate security risks.”
“Well, yeah, I’d day I did pretty good out there,” Hero said, “so why do you all seem upset?”
The sound of footsteps behind them made Hero’s head turn. Two league agents put a hand on each of Hero’s shoulders.
“Superhero,” Hero asked nervously, turning back to face their superior, “what’s going on?”
“We took a risk letting you roam free with your powers of energy manipulation,” Superhero said, “your abilities have grown to an incredible strength, and now the risks outweigh the benefits. I’m sorry, Hero.”
As Superhero spoke, one of the agents jammed the end of a needle into Hero’s neck. Hero cried out in pain, feeling ice flood their veins.
“So that’s it- you’re just going to get rid of me because I’m too good at my job!?” Hero asked desperately, feeling their limbs turn to lead.
“Your powers will only increase exponentially from here,” another league member said, “if we don’t contain you now, we’ll never be able to stop you if you become a threat.”
Hero tried to wrench themselves from the agents’ grips, but they held them fast. Hero’s knees buckled just as a wheelchair with padded restraints came into view.
“Take them down to Containment Level 3,” Superhero ordered.
“N-no,” Hero slurred.
Hero felt themselves be lifted into the wheelchair. Straps tightened across their body just as their vision began to fade. Their head sank down into their chest as the drug sucked them under.
When Hero awoke next, they thought maybe the events from earlier were just a bad dream. Maybe Supervillain had defeated them, and they would wake up in the med bay with Superhero by their bedside. Hero opened their eyes to a stark white room. They looked down at their form and found that they had been stuffed in some kind of straight-jacket suit, the buckles going all the way down to their ankles. Hero jerked upright, trying and failing to free themselves. They tried to call on their power, but their movements were sluggish, and their energy barely materialized.
Hero fought back the tears that brimmed in their eyes. They had figured if they ever did get captured, it would be by some criminal, never by their own team, the people they fought beside every day. Now their team- their family- had them drugged up and restrained in a cell just like those criminals they had been taught to fight. When they couldn’t fight them any longer, Hero let the tears fall with a choked sob.
“Hey,” a voice echoed.
Hero looked up, sniffling. The door opened, revealing a league agent.
“What do you want?” Hero asked bitterly.
“Seriously?” the league member demanded indignantly, “I come all this way to save you and-oh. Right. The outfit.”
The league member unbuttoned their uniform to reveal a familiar, dark suit underneath.
“Villain?” Hero asked in disbelief.
“Duh,” Villain said, “saw what you did out there with Supervillain. That was pret-ty impressive. But I knew your precious league wouldn’t like it. So here I am.”
Hero remembered the stories Superhero had told them about Villain, how they had abandoned the league years ago. They remembered the late-night, rooftop conversations with Villain, about how the league wasn’t what they seemed.
“Are you going to say, ‘I told you so’?” Hero asked dejectedly.
“Nah, you’ve been punished enough,” Villain said, “come on, let’s get you out of here.”
Villain worked to free Hero from their restraints. They pulled out a syringe filled with liquid.
“This is gonna counteract the junk they’ve pumped in your system,” Villain said, “the car’s outside waiting. We can be out of the city limits in an hour… unless you’d like to torch this place first?”
Hero shook their head, holding their arm out for Villain to administer the antidote.
“I just wanna go,” Hero said.
“I gotcha,” Villain said, helping them up, “leave the torching to me then.”
Villain drove off, Hero in the passenger seat, the league base ablaze behind them.

Working on a Kirishima fic and have no direction so thought I'd share my biggest headcanon that I've been keeping secret but can't anymore because its TOO good.
Kirishima's Significant Other
Tumblr media
Everything weighed him down. Yes, he had his dream job. Yes, he worked close with his friends. Yes, he saved people.
But no one told him how lonely being a pro would be.
Kirishima was trying his hardest. He truly was. But after the third dead person he couldn't save in a single week? It was no secret his smile had started to shrink when he wasn't working and his shoulders slumped more and more.
Of course he did what he could. He was a good man and went to therapy every week and did exactly as the therapist recommended. He even did service projects where he would go help cook or clean at orphanages or homeless shelters.
But no one warned him being a pro would be like this. There was no preparation for the weight that pros carried on their shoulders. And it didn't matter that he was alone.
Kirishima was so terribly alone. After watching all his high school friends get married one after another—even Bakugo, the most unstable man in existence—Kirishima wondered what was wrong with him.
It's not like he didn't have a plethora of fans dying to date him. But none of them lit so much as a spark under him. It wasn't their fault, he just...wasn't interested.
But maybe if he had someone waiting at home for him the weight wouldn't be so bad. If he had a home to come home to, maybe the stress could melt away and he'd finally relax.
His weeks had a routine to them. Monday-Wednesdays were patrol days, Thursday was his day off, Friday-Sundays he was on call. Which he tended to get called in.
So that left Thursdays being the only day of the week that he could do his laundry, clean his kitchen (like his mother taught him), buy groceries, meal prep (Kirishima has a strict diet), and go to therapy.
Hectic, methodical life. Always in motion but never participating. So Kirishima dragged himself to the store and unsurprisingly was swarmed by fans who wanted his autograph.
One even had the gall to ask for his number. She looked like she was in middle school.
And then he was finally in the frozen food section searching for frozen chicken. He always bought the same brand, same packaged chicken. Not for any particular reason, but because it was easy to remember with the bright red logo.
He tossed the last bag in his basket and made to leave when you appeared and frowned at the empty freezer. You wore loose mom jeans and a plain t-shirt with purple stains on it. Your hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and you didn't even bother with makeup.
When you noticed him, you smiled. "You got the last one! Lucky!"
"Oh yeah," Kirishima said and watched you scan the freezer for a replacement. "Do you want it?"
"Huh? No! That's yours! I couldn't!"
"Here." He held it out like some sort of treaty before you shook your head and he laughed. "I insist."
"I suppose if you insist," you said and took the bag. "Thank you! Do you need help finding more?"
"I'm not too worried about it," Kirishima said before reaching into the freezer for ground beef.
You slightly bowed before you went on your way. A few years earlier, Kirishima had a pretty good meal plan surrounded by beef, so he figured he could change it up a bit a make his old recipes.
When he stood in the checkout line, he saw you two registers down. You bowed slightly and apologized before pointing at a cake mix. The cashier set it to the side and Kirishima's eyes widened. Did she not have enough for a cake mix?
The register opened and he turned away, letting the person behind him go before he rushed to the baking aisle and grabbed a cake mix. He didn't really know what he was doing, but it was his hero's duty. And who knew? It could be your birthday or something and you really wanted a cake.
When he checked out, he looked through the doors and wondered if you'd gone far. Kirishima rushed the cashier before he grabbed his three bags and ran out the door.
There you were. You were struggling with putting your bags on the back of a bike and Kirishima grinned when he came over.
"Sorry, I noticed you wanted one of these, so..."
Your eyes widened. "How...thank you." You bowed deeply. "Thank you."
"Yeah, no biggie."
The next week passed. And the next. He didn't see you at the grocery store either times. But, third time's a charm when you appeared and pulled out a bag of frozen chicken.
"Looks like there's enough for both of us, huh?" Kirishima asked when he put a bag in his basket.
"Oh hey! How are you?" You asked. "Thank you so much for the cake, by the way. I didn't know what to do. It was my baby boy's birthday and I wanted to make it special but money's tight right now."
Baby boy. Kirishima stared at you with a drooped smile. He noticed orange stains on your pink shirt and your hair was disheveled like it'd been pulled and of course he would think about someone who already had a family. How embarrassing.
But just like him, honestly.
"No big deal," he halfheartedly said.
You sighed. "Seriously, you were a lifesaver. After his dad skipped town three years ago, it's been so hard."
Wait. Kirishima gawked. "What?"
"Yeah," you deflated and stared at the ground. "My ex went crazy one day and said he wanted nothing to do with us. I'm happy my boy wasn't old enough to remember him or any of it, but jeez. He's five now but I don't even know how men shave. Like do you do just your face or is there other parts of the body? Or even attempting to explain puberty," you shuddered, "and who's going to teach him to tie a tie? And—I'm sorry. You don't want to hear about all my woes!"
Kirishima didn't know why he went home that night relieved that your ex had left. He also didn't know why he was imagining your kid over and over and he didn't know why he found himself standing in the frozen meat aisle just waiting for you to show up on the next Thursday.
And when you did, Kirishima held a bag of frozen chicken out for you and cleared his throat. "Do you want to go out sometime?"
‧˚₊•┈┈┈┈୨୧┈┈┈┈•‧₊˚⊹
I 10000000000% see Kirishima being the kind to fall in love with someone with a kid and 1000000000000% adopt the kid. He'd make the PERFECT adoptive dad. Totally the kind of man who'd say "no it's not your kid it's MY kid." 1000000000% ya'll

Hot-Headed Chicken
You make Hawks mad by eating something of his and he realizes he's being stupid

Keigo "Hawks" Takami x GN!Reader
Word Count: 1781
Written:12/09/2020
Edited: 05/23/2023
"Y/N!!!!" Your name vibrated through the halls, and pictures actually shook against the walls. You turned your head in the direction where the booming voice came from. Frowning slightly, you yelled back just as loudly.
"WHAT?!?!" You were currently sitting in the living room watching some crappy TV show that held most of your attention, but with the ever-growing sounds of heavy footsteps getting closer, your attention started to drift. You snapped back to reality when a body blocked your vision of the couples that wouldn't last a week if it wasn't filmed. You glanced up to see bright red feathers slightly ruffled and an angry No. 2 hero glaring down at you. You tilted your head to the side with an eyebrow raised, as if saying, "Go on," with your body.
"Did you eat my chicken nuggets?" He visibly seethed, his wings raising as if to intimidate you, making sure that all of your attention was on him.
"Oh...yeah so?" You shrugged your shoulders and shifted on the couch to try and see the TV again. Hawks stumbled back from the shock as if you had told him that the two of you were done. In his mind, you just did.
"...So? SO?! Y/N, those were MY chicken nuggets, and YOU ate them." He looked at you bewildered, and you looked right back at him, trying to figure out why he was so upset.
"Okay, okay, I’m sorry, they weren't with your stuff in the fridge, so I assumed they were leftovers from last night." You shifted a little on the couch from his  glare, the intensity making you feel a little uncomfortable.
"I was saving them for later!" He turned his head away, groaning and rubbing his hands down his face, his head already pounding because of an earlier villain fight that probably resulted in him gaining a concussion. "Jesus, don’t you ever think about anyone but yourself?" He glared at you with annoyance and irritation through the corner of his eye. The second that sentence left his mouth, he quickly realized his mistake and snapped his head over to you just in time to catch the look of pure shock and hurt on your face. Because his statement was wrong, all you did was think of others; you were the sweetest person he knew and always gave people a second chance if they deserved it. Tears began to roll down your cheeks, and you looked away as you quickly wiped at them. "Wait, kid, I didn’t mean it!" Keigo got down on his knees and shuffled closer, quickly trying to apologize for what he said.
"Keigo…" You stood up, keeping your eyes trained on anywhere but him. He gulped and began to prepare himself for the absolute worst as you started walking to the entryway. "You started this over chicken nuggets. Which, might I add, you could have easily made or bought more of, but instead you threw a fit because I ate six measly chicken nuggets. And I don't think of anyone but myself? Try again." You look over your shoulder at him with tears slowly running down your face. Scoffing as you grabbed your coat and slid your shoes on, you snatched your bag that had your keys, ID, and other necessities off the floor, muttering something about him being immature. He quickly rushed after you, but you turned around completely to glare at him. "I’m going to stay somewhere else until you can learn to man up and not act like a 5-year-old. If I wanted to hang out with children, I would have gone to the nearby preschool. Goodbye Keigo" You opened the door and left without Keigo getting a word in or trying to persuade you to stay. He made his way slowly back to the couch and sat down where you were just occupying it. Looking at the TV where the crappy show was still playing, he watched it for a bit, letting it distract him just a little before his mind wandered back to you. He thought of what he could do to make you come back, but he just kept coming up empty-handed, and after a couple of minutes, he fell asleep, missing you and regretting what he did.
Months had passed since your fight, and Keigo was dying without you. He's just being dramatic, though; it's only been two days since your fight, and he's wallowing in self-pity and missing you greatly. You were missing him just as much, but you were still waiting for an apology that the other couldn’t find the words for. Keigo's days off were over, and he had to go back to work. Instead of flying, he decided to walk since flying seemed pointless without you, as you were his metaphorical wings, holding him up when things got bad. So he walked, and he walked right by Midoriya, who stopped walking and turned around, confused as to why he'd see the No. 2 walking while he was on his way to school. Maybe it was a wing fracture? It didn't matter; he just had to stop the hero, so he moved in front of Hawks, successfully stopping him so he could ask him what was wrong if he was walking. Surprised, Keigo looked down at the green-haired OFA user. "I...It's nothing of your concern." He walked around him and continued walking before the short boy moved in front of him again, looking at him pointedly. Hawks sighed and tilted his head side to side as if weighing the options before telling Midoriya, "Fine, I got into a fight with my partner over something stupid. Are you happy now?" He glared slightly at Midoriya, who, in turn, just shook his head, waiting for him to give him more information. "Jesus, okay, it was over them eating chicken nuggets that were mine. It happened a couple of days ago." He looked down, disappointed in himself.
"You fought over that?!" Midoriya was bewildered; the No. 2 hero fought over something as little as who ate who's chicken nuggets. Hawks gave the boy a disappointed nod. "And it's been two days? How are you going to make it up to them after that?" Midoriya asked with a raised eyebrow, all while tilting his head.
"I don’t know yet." Hawks rubbed his lower face and looked away from Midoriya so he co
uldn’t see how embarrassed he was, but he didn’t have to because Midoriya could practically see the embarrassment and disappointment seeping off of Keigo in waves.
"I mean, just an idea; you could always apologize to them with something they like. Works with most couples, but that doesn't mean you should buy back their forgiveness." The little OFA user glared slightly at the older man, and just as Hawks’ eyes lit up, he rushed home, yelling thank you to the now very late schoolboy.
An hour later, Hawks began to put his plan into action; he would "bump" into you on your way to work and apologize to you with a gift you hopefully liked. He stealthily walked in the direction of your work just as you were headed towards the entrance. Keigo hid the gift behind his back and rushed over to you, using his wings to propel him faster. He moved in front of you and spread his wings out so you couldn't go by him and his stupid big firetruck-red wings. "Y/N, please listen to me!"
It took a second for your brain to catch up, but once it did, you looked him right in the eyes with a slight glare. "What do you want, Hawks? Are you finally here to apologize?" You questioned him with a slight annoyance.
"Yes! Exactly! I wanted to come apologize to you, Y/N." He grabbed your hand with his free hand, the other still behind his back. You remembered how those hands would encircle your waist when you were cuddling on the couch after a long day of work, watching those crappy TV shows that you both loved to make fun of. You shook yourself of the thought and sighed before looking up and waiting for him to continue. The people around you looked at the sight of the No. 2 hero, and you, Hawks, didn't hide your relationship. You could practically see the shared thought above their heads: "What is he apologizing for?" You focused back on Hawks as he smiled awkwardly. What a funny sight to see the pretty boy No. 2 hero looking awkward. "I’m so sorry, sunshine. I shouldn't have gotten mad at you for such a stupid thing as eating my chicken nuggets."
You sigh and tilt your head side to side as if weighing the options, which he picked up from you. You look back up at him, looking hurt. "I don’t know Hawks; you really hurt my feelings the other day over that." He begins to rub his thumb over your knuckles as a nervous tic, thinking of what to say next without making you mad or before you leave.
"N/N, please let me make it up to you." He began kneeling and moving the hand that was behind his back into view. Everyone in the vicinity who was watching the two interact gasped and began to film the pair. You lean back slightly, shocked and thinking the same thing as everyone else: you were going to be proposed to as an apology. That was until you saw what he was holding. You burst out laughing just as Hawks pulled out a box of chicken nuggets and held it out to you. You pulled him to a stand and wrapped your arms around his neck, giving him a long and passionate kiss.
You're still laughing as you finally part for air. You smile widely. "I could never stay mad at you forever, you birdbrain." The crowd is cheering and laughing at how you two show affection. Despite how stupid this fight was, Keigo was yours and you were his, and the two of you weren't parting for a long time.
"Hey kid, why don’t we go back home and watch some crappy TV shows? We'll call in sick." He says this as he pulls you closer, and you nod your head as you hold onto him tightly. He picks you up bridal style and takes off into the air in the direction of your house. The wind is flowing through both of your hairs as he looks down and smiles at you. "I love you, "Y/N."
You smile back at him and lean up slightly to kiss his cheek. "I love you too, Keigo."

Idia’s Backstory Translation
Don’t look at me I’m a mess rn
Disclaimer: my own translation, just for entertainment purposes, there might be mistakes. Proceed to suffer.
Idia: My whole life was decided before I was even born.
“The Guardian of the Island of Woe”
That’s my future job.
Those who are born into the Shroud family are able to burn off accumulated blot in their bodies easily…
It is an unique magic that opens and closes the gates of “The Underworld”
Researcher A: Idia-sama is truly excellent in both academics and magic.
Researcher A: Experts in the magic engineering field are especially interested in him. He’s a genius.
Researcher B: Yes. The future of [S.T.Y.X.] is secure with him.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
For an ordinary child, that’s a question that will be asked to them at least once.
Would it be alright if someone asked me once as well?
[Run like a meteor, aiming for distant glory!]
Young Ortho: Hang in there, Big Brother! Hit Chronos’ army!
Young Idia: Yes! Hard Mode cleared!
Young Ortho: As expected of my brother! You defeated Chronos’ army!
Young Idia: Ahhh. I want to go on adventures to the outside world like the hero of [Star Rogue].
Young Ortho: Me too! I’m going on an adventure with my brother too!
Young Ortho: Then, we can be heroes who beat the bad guys together.
Young Idia: Heroes….I thought I might be able to go with Ortho, but I guess I can’t.
Young Ortho: Why? I want to be with my brother.
Young Idia: Because when I grow up, I have to take over the household…
Young Ortho: Well, what about before you grow up?
Young Idia: Before I grow up…?
Young Ortho: Yeah. You can go on an adventure trip before you grow up, right?
Young Idia: That’s right. I may be able to go outside before I have to take over the household.
Young Idia:…It’s easy to get out of the [Okeanus Hall] if you can break through the security system of the headquarters. That means…
Young Idia:…let’s go on an adventure.
Young Ortho: !! Yes! I want to go!
Young Idia: Leave it to your big brother!
I was just curious.
I just wanted to have a little adventure.
I didn’t think much of it.
I can’t believe it happened-
Young Idia: Heheh. It was easy for me to turn off the security. Is it okay to be able to break in so easily?
Young Ortho: Wow…! It’s my first time in this place.
Young Idia: Ortho, make sure you follow behind me.
Young Idia: you need an amphibious magic vehicle to be able to leave [Okeanus Hall]
Young Idia: Wait just a moment. Now, I just go to the hangar management system…
*Alarm Turns On*
Announcement: An emergency has occurred. The headquarter’s security system has been compromised by an external cyber attack.
Announcement: All detention centres in [Tartarus] have been unlocked. Subject ROS-3367A has escaped from the laboratory building.
Announcement: Charon units to head to [Tartarus] immediately! Non-combatants must evacuate to the shelters quickly!
Young Ortho:…Brother? What’s that sound?
Young Idia: No way…It can’t be…The security system I hacked into and turned off earlier…
Young Idia: N-no. I have to turn it back on!
Young Ortho:…B-big brother!
Young Idia: It’s okay. Your brother is lucky.
Young Ortho: No, brother…there’s something at the end of the corridor!
Young Idia: Eh?!
???: *growls!*
Young Idia: That’s- a monster?!
???: *growls*
I don’t remember what happened from there.
By the time I woke up, Ortho was gone.
Researcher A: I can’t believe that a 10-year-old boy could hack into the world’s highest security system…
Researcher C: He is too much of a genius. I never expected it to end in such a tragedy…
Researcher A: They say that all the phantoms were sent down to the underworld.
Researcher B: Even though there was no other choice….It was an unfortunate incident.
Young Idia: It was my fault. I was the one who told him to go on an adventure.
Young Idia: How can I be a genius if I can’t even protect my brother…? How could I ever be a hero?!
Young Idia: Ortho come back…give me Ortho back…
Young Idia: Every part of Ortho…return his body, his personality, his memories, everything!!
Young Idia:….that’s right.
If he can’t come back on his own, I can just make him.
….It’s okay. I remember everything. I can make the perfect Ortho again.
We promised we would go on an adventure together…
…Just leave it to your big brother.
Researcher A: Idia-sama…It’s been more than two years since he has stayed inside his room.
Researcher B: He has shut his heart ever since losing Ortho-sama.
Researcher C: However, he keeps requesting a large amount of magical parts regularly. Just what the hell is he doing…?
Boy Idia: Boom ba da boom boom boom! Ha! It’s done!! I finished it!
Boy Idia: I finally got it back!
Researcher A: Idia-sama?! Finished? What did you finish?
Boy Idia: Hehehe! What, you say? It’s Ortho!
Ortho: Nice to meet you. I am Ortho.
Boy Idia: What do you think!? It’s a complete reproduction of Ortho’s memories and thought patterns.
Boy Idia: the AI also includes a self-learning algorithm.
Boy Idia: The world’s first magic humanoid that continues to grow on its own. This is [ORTHO]!!
Researcher A: No way…you recreated your younger brother?!
Researcher B: That’s a taboo, Idia-sama!
Boy Idia: Huh? The story of a hero rescuing his girlfriend back from the underworld is considered a beautiful story, but why is it that when it comes to a younger brother it becomes a taboo?
Researcher B: T-that’s…
Boy Idia: Haaa. This is exactly why I dislike ordinary people!
Boy Idia: Would you please stop judging others with subjective ethics or mere emotional arguments?
Boy Idia: My “younger brother” is here because there is nothing physical to prove the existence of a soul.
Boy Idia: And he is stronger, much stronger than the living, he cannot be broken easily.
Boy Idia: If we keep making improvements, one day we can reach the end of the universe with this body. That’s right, Ortho!
Ortho: Hm! [Run like a meteor, aiming for distant glory!]
Boy Idia:…that’s right. Hehe! Both Chronos and the phantoms would be nothing compared to the current Ortho.
Boy Idia: The current Ortho could even be a hero…hehe!…he…hng…*sob*
Ortho: Your frontal cortex is overactive and your autonomic nerves are disturbed. It is recommended that you take a proper rest.
I wonder where I went wrong.
If I hadn’t tried to go on an adventure that day…
No, if I hadn’t yearned to become a hero before that…
Maybe, If I hadn’t been born in the Shroud family in the first place…?
If only…If only we had been born in a normal family…
Having friends to play games with,
Going on adventures,
Talking about our dreams for the future…
I might have become a real hero someday.
How did this happen?
I….
We just wanted to be like everybody else.
…Big brother.
….Ortho?
Thank you for chasing after me. I was very happy.
But, my brother shouldn’t come here yet.
Ortho…Why? I’ll go with you. We made a promise.
Yes. But “someday” is not “now.”
You want to read the rest of that manga, go watch an idol group live, play a new game…
My brother loves this world too much to give everything up.
Ha!? Who would love such a crap world!
It doesn’t matter if all that shit is gone!
You don’t have to be so silly. You don’t have to give up on anything anymore.
My brother has a future.
I want my brother to fulfill the dream we had that day.
Our dream…?
I’m sure it’ll be a long road. And you might be discouraged. But…
You’re my big brother….my elder brother can go anywhere.
No matter how far away the place you dream of is, you will definitely get there.
It’s okay. I’ll be with you forever.
So don’t give up.
Ortho…wait
ORTHO—!!
???: IDIA!
——-
I apologize for any typos or grammatical errors, I could barely see past my tears sorry
Idia's VAs (the usual + the child voice) bodied this whole chapter. I highly recommend listening along.
The way he goes from laughing to crying during the hero line was heartbreaking, and the way he was begging to get Ortho back dealt me some heavy emotional damage. God I loved this chapter.

Have a very unfinished fic I began for fun starring Four and Warriors
Four started it.
Enemy defeated, worlds saved, the heroes were wandering Hyrule with weighted footsteps in unspoken suspense for that last portal that would send them their separate ways.
Except time drew thin, the portal never came. By the time they reached the inn, they counted an entire month treading a land unfamiliar to all of them but Legend without clear purpose or direction. It was driving them all a bit insane.
So when Four slipped the innkeeper a small, rectangle piece of parchment from the top of a stack tied carefully in twine, Warriors latched onto it as a single, tiny mystery to be solved in a whirlwind of boredom.
“Can I see that?” he asked, eyeing the papers Four was hastily shoving back into his bag. The innkeeper slid his own under the bar after studying it with vague interest.
Four’s face grew red but he handed them over without further persuasion.
A neat border of repeating patterned inked swords framed the words:
Heroes for Hire Evil warlord got you down? Monsters driving you mad? We’re here to help. (Additional services include smithing, cooking, sailing, pot clearance and more)
“I just thought we could all do with a project or two. I think everyone’s been feeling a bit… lost these days.” Four rushed to explain.
The night before, Wild had used his fusion ability to attach a block of butter to one of his shields then slid around the camp on it for two hours. ‘Lost’ was probably an understatement.
“You know what?” Warriors said cheerfully, handing the card back, “I think it’s a really good idea.”
Warriors had slipped over three times while getting ready that morning; Wild had turned their entire camp into an oily booby trap.
Fours face grew even redder.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah! I think what we’re lacking is a sense of purpose, you know? We all miss our homes and this could give us a good distraction.”
They didn’t really talk about why they were still here all that much. None of them were the type to air the worries and concerns out in the open, but they all knew they were thinking the same thing. It was as if the Goddess had abandoned them here now they had fulfilled their usefulness. She couldn’t even be bothered to get them all back to where they belonged.
“How many people have you given these to?”
“Just that innkeeper,” Four said. “And one of the farmers we passed on the outskirts of the village.”
No sooner had he spoken those words than a young boy ran into the inn, eyes huge beneath windswept hair.
“Are you the heroes for hire?” he asked, his breath catching between words.
With an impressive swish of his scarf and a blinding smile, Warriors stood before him.
“Why yes, as a matter of fact, we are.”
“At your service,” Four added, if only to prevent Warriors from taking complete control over the idea that was Four’s in the first place.
“You gave my father your card earlier,” the boy said. “The Zora have flipped our sheep again. Dad said he’ll give you two blue Rupees if you give us a hand putting them right before it gets dark.”
“Did you say the sheep were flipped?” Four asked. Warriors elbowed him hard.
“We’re happy to help.”
“This isn’t really what I had in mind,” Four told Warriors as they strained to heave the third sheep onto its feet. “Why do Zora even do this, it seems very petty.”
“Legend said there’s been civil war between the Zora and Hylians for hundreds of years around here. It’s mostly died down now, but Hylians still fish in Zora territory so the Zora do things like turning sheep upside down to show their defiance.”
“Still, it’s not exactly the ‘evil warlords’ I was expecting”
“Patience, my small friend!” Warriors declared just as they managed to push the sheep onto its feet, “everyone must start somewhere and our business is only a few hours old after all. Small beginnings make for the best hero agencies, as they say.”
“You just made that up,” Four muttered dispassionately.

💙 hi and welcome to my ted talk about the latest episodes of what if, please read through (3) 💙
First of all. Why is season 2 so...happy?
I'm not complaining. Marvel has enough sad stories for a lifetime, but I found that, instead of exploring demises, we're now seeing victories. Old villains find their insight and become heroes (Hela, Nebula, Gamora) and lives are influenced for the better, earlier on (Peter Quill, Bucky, Hope).
It might be nothing.
But I think it's something.
You know what season 2 of what if comes right after? Season 2 of Loki. And, as you'll see at the end of this post, their colors are making themselves known.
Could it be that, from his throne, Loki got sick of watching sad stories and seeing worlds die? There is a chance, I don't know how plausible, but there is, that he's influencing all that we saw this season. A little hope here, a little time there, and, using their free will, everyone gets a second chance.
That, or Uatu felt bad for us and wanted to gift us in honor of New Year being in 1-2 days. Do tell me if you have additions on that.
If I had to bet on something, it would be the overall fan reaction to the opening scene. I screamed, yes. Did they expect us to see Loki's name there in the subtitles and be totally chill about it?
"To be or not to be, that is the question"
Tumblr media
I can totally see Tom having this idea for the opening scene: just Loki reciting Hamlet, and altough to his brother's bordedom, acting from Shakespeare. And it was the best idea he could have.
It's a missable detail, but Thor mentions Mjölnir! And you know how? As a gift...for Loki!
He responds to that with "I...have misplaced it" which is, yeah, typical, but how do you just lose Mjölnir, Loki? The idea, however, is that he'd be able to lift it, which I would have loooved to see on screen. But this was fun to have too.
And the response to Captain Carter's "You're a bigger drama queen than your brother" (talking to Thor)?? 😭
"Blessed"
Tumblr media
Can we also point out how insane it is that after just being stripped from her home in an unknown world, Peggy still wanted to help?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She not only has a hero's soul, she is that brave as to turn down The Watcher's warnings and offers to take her back safe. And remember, not everyone can hear Uatu as he narrates. But she can, sometimes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What if, what if, what if. I have to try."
"Not on my watch"
This ambition of hers, is, of course, given by her humanity too. But that's not only a bad thing. The Watcher's all knowing, his experience of seeing worlds die everyday, has made him unsensible (from our point of view). That's not the case for Peggy.
Amidst all her adventures, however, perhaps she's also searching to avenge the love she lost, searching for her happy ending. In the movie Endgame, I have to admit she felt optional, like Steve wasn't meant to be there with her. But not now.
Tumblr media
I wish The Watcher told her she has a happy ending somewhere.
I don't know about you, but this episode...is my favourite ever from the series. It used to be the Strange Supreme one, but that's on the second place of the podium now.
We got to see queen Hela, drama prince/ actor Loki, king Thor. Bucky, NOT the Winter Soldier, and Steve, finally on the same page! Scarlet Witch!! Using her powers for good, not corrupted. All of them in cool costumes too. If things like these were on live action, I'd lose my f- mind, if I haven't already. :))
And now the green. The "rifts" that are tearing this world apart are very familiar in color.
Tumblr media
And this is not the only thing that's turning green, when it used to be multi-colored. The prism, too, the one from which The Watcher watches and narrates. And I'm not talking about the Time Stone. I'm talking about the tree of life, and how it might actually have a serious impact over everything. I mean, does Uatu know anything? And what was that decorated Yggradsil in the trailer, before the holidays?
Nevertheless, I think it's related in some way, and if it's not, don't blame me. I really like green.
That being said, thanks for reading <3

It was revealed at the jump fest that Horikoshi initially planned for Naomasa to be an ally of AFO's who spied for him. Obviously it was scrapped later on. Now I'm thinking about all those Kurogiri is Naomasa theories that were prominent with them comparing the similar ties...
Anonymous asked: In honor of this revelation, can we get an AU where Naomasa was indeed sent to spy on All Might by AFO, but ended up falling for his target.
1- AfO stole his nifty truth detector quirk from Naomasa's father before killing him a bit before Makoto was born. As far as the Tsukauchi's mother knows, AfO is her husband's brother who helped out a lot at the time. Naomasa is the only one who knows his Uncle is lying, and he hates it, but can't tell anyone the truth because Uncle made it clear that Naomasa must pay him back for protecting his little sister and his mom. Naomasa has to be the one to teach Makoto how to manage her lie detecting quirk, has to get good grades to get to the police academy like Uncle orders, and has to not be suspicious.
2- Here, Naomasa meets All Might earlier, for a certain definition of "meet"- AfO worked hard to get them in contact on cases, but All Might is busy fighting twenty hours a day and doesn't really do the paperwork part of his job so actual communication with Naomasa is rare. Which, he's fine with, the less there is he has to pass on to his Uncle
3- When Naomasa first meets Toshinori, he actually thinks he's another spy for AfO placed closer to All Might after Uncle's injury, though he says nothing to verify that. Still, he's friendly - and then he learns he's All Might, and he starts hiding information on purpose from Uncle for the first time. He doesn't ask him for help yet though, he can't.
4- that changes after the Sky Egg incident, when All Might saves Makoto and everyone else. Naomasa waits until his sister is safe in the States, far away and not coming back soon, before he goes to Toshinori. He begs him not say anything, just to listen from the other room. Toshinori, worried, agrees, and then Naomasa takes a call from his Uncle. Toshinori recognizes the voice, and Naomasa confirms that he's alone in the room before answering other questions, carefully selecting what information to give before his Uncle hangs up. Toshinori stares at him. Naomasa looks down. "He doesn't know about you wound, or weakened form. My father... Used to have a lie detecting quirk too, you know. But he died quirkless. Anyway. I'm sorry. That's the truth."
Toshinori stares, silent, for a few more minutes. Then he says "and now, you can honestly say you never told anyone about what you did, or what he did."
"yeah. I hope I can, anyway."
To attempt to make up for what he's already given AfO, Naomasa starts passing information the other way... And does a lot of Toshinori's paperwork.
5- UA is a stressful time, with Naomasa called in to help after USJ and Uncle expecting to be told how far along the heroes are in their attempts to find him, and UA would really like Naomasa's help in sniffing out their own mole. But they manage, and Naomasa, who's been in love with Toshinori a few years at this point and said nothing, sees Toshinori so bright and happy as he ruffles Izuku's hair, and thinks seeing the real smile on the blond's face must be better than even kissing it like he sometimes is embarrassed to dream about.
(he gets a kiss later- Naomasa is furious when he discovers the mole. Not at Yuga- at his parents. Naomasa's father died before working for AfO, and his mother would have done the same, but these two are the ones who invited him in, who basically sold him their son! he's down to imprison the parents, or leave them to AfO, but not Yuga, who'd be better served hidden abroad. Toshinori watches him pace angrily about this before taking his hand, and saying he's unhappy too, but his student doesn't blame his parents and also might be liable to explode if he flees. Then Toshi promises to ensure AfO pays for what he's done, that Yuga and Naomasa and himself and Izuku and everyone will have peace when this is over. Naomasa disagrees - one, he's planning on being imprisoned himself after the war, and two, Toshinori shouldn't go out there, shouldn't get himself killed. Toshi just kisses the back of his hand though and leaves, saying it'll be all right and he'll see him later.)

how are you finding ffxiv btw? curious to hear what you think of it so far if youre open to sharing!
i wrote up some early impressions here! tl;dr, it's got me good. the people who said i'd like it were absolutely right. i'm enjoying talking about it, so have some more
it's funny to see how many of the game's incidental quests follow the "you look like an adventurer" format. "you look like an adventurer, go save my cat from that tree," "you look like an adventurer, bring me a blue flower with red thorns," etc. it's a format i've been banned from using at my job - our narrative policy is that it feels gamey, and questgivers should always have a deeper reason to solicit the player specifically. that said, even the starting cities have a dizzying amount of sidequests, and you can't afford to be precious when you're writing at that scale. hat tip to the writers for having to come up with it all!
i mean, really, it blows my mind how much there is to do. i worried that i was chewing through the ARR story too quickly, but my friends keep saying this is only the beginning? omg
i find myself chasing a kind of roleplay that i haven't before: one that revolves around the game's time-of-day system. since cutscenes [in general - i guess some are forced] match the current weather and light, i've been scheduling cutscenes around what seems most cinematic or plot-appropriate. i waited until nightfall to do the greenbliss festival and hear the grand company speeches to make them more solemn. by coincidence, i fought foulques during a downpour, and it felt so much more dramatic. so did crossing thanalan at nigh noon. you know that bad thing that happens at the waking sands? i trudged all the way to the church alone in the dead of midnight afterward. now that's kino!!
oh yeah, those veteran friends i mentioned earlier? they're obsessed with which eligible bachelor i'll attach my character to. i'm so flattered. how can you not be. getting ubereats deliveries of "yeah, this one is a miserable bastard, you might like him." i'm told that the game implicitly encourages this sort of thing by stressing how much your player means to the major characters. no wonder you've all been having so much fun over here
i made some rookie mistakes in the character creator, so no screenshots yet ): thank goodness you get a free fantasia eventually
i have more details cooking, though. i see her as a fallen dragoon who thought she'd failed at being a hero and has been given a second chance. starting in gridania was less a "newbie lancer" thing and more a kurosawa "stranger comes to town and solves its problems by the sword" thing. she's also been forged-in-battle friends with raubahn for many years, and i've heard he gets a lot of story, so i'm looking forward to that.
don't worry, i've been forearmed about what happens-
[the vaudeville cane drags me offstage]

Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @knickynoo, thanks!
(Tagging @belphegor1982, @threephantomrey, and @radarsteddybear and anyone else who wants to do this!)
How many works do you have on AO3? Including the selection of ancient fics I just brought over from a dying FFN, 527.
What's your total AO3 word count? 1,836,538 words
What fandoms do you write for? Currently, my main fandoms are 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Back to the Future, with some Haunted Mansion, Hogan's Heroes, Hades, Pokémon, Super Mario, and Legend of Zelda thrown in. And I've dabbled in other fandoms, as well.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
“Heroic Resolve” (Man from U.N.C.L.E., light slash)
“A Devil Put Aside for Me” (Super Smash Bros, gen)
“If Wishes Were Cats” (MFU, light slash)
“Desperate Times” (MFU, light slash)
"Some Things are That Simple" (Super Smash Bros, gen)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to, but between real life and my ADHD, I don't often get to them as quickly as I'd like to. Also FFN has completely stopped sending notifications in the last several months, so I genuinely have no clue if anyone has left a comment there. :/
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? ...I haven't written it yet, but one of my future 13 Ghosts fics is going to be an angsty semi-resolved resolution that carries over to the next fic. Currently, however, the angstiest ending is probably “All Dead, All Dead” (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Super Smash Bros)–it’s about BOTW Link realizing that the events of World of Light in Smash Ultimate makes this the second time that he failed to prevent a disaster, that he’s lost more this time than last time during the Calamity, and is now carrying even more survivor’s guilt as a result.  I normally don’t write such angsty fics with no resolution, but as this is World of Light, and everyone’s restoration is a foregone conclusion if you’ve played the game, I felt it was fine as is.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have happy endings, but the happiest is probably "O, Brave New World" (13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo)--just that ending scene of everyone hugging in the rain after Daphne casts her first successful spell during her magic training... Yeah.
Do you get hate on fics? Not really, but I do get people who either complain that the fic makes no sense after admitting they jumped in the middle of a multichapter fic without any context, or I get someone who does not understand dramatic irony and wonders why Marty is acting the way he is when he's extremely stressed and not thinking things through as a result.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Love them! Craziest one is probably the MFU/Haunted Mansion crossover I did earlier this year ("The Grim Grinning Ghosts Affair"), but the BTTF/Hogan's Heroes one I'm planning is going to be right up there.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes, one of my Super Mario fics was stolen along with other writers' on FFN back in 2020; thankfully a friend of mine in the fandom AND a kind stranger both alerted me to it, and I and the other victims reported the thief and got the stolen fics removed.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I have had one transcribed as a Podfic by someone else–“You Can’t Judge a Book” (Hogan’s Heroes, Gen).
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, once, on LiveJournal a long time ago; it was a Hogan’s Heroes fic with an otherworldly spin; I’m not entirely sure if it still exists.
What's your all-time favorite ship? Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin!
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Most of all, the Monkeesfic I left hanging, because it was the literal final installment of the arc I was writing.
What are your writing strengths? Characterizations, or so I’ve been told–I can jump from fandom to fandom, and have everyone remain perfectly in-character. Also, dialogues. My writing has always been dialogue-driven.
What are your writing weaknesses? Descriptions. As improved as I am when compared to 2008 when I started posting stories online (and you can tell by looking at some of those that I brought over from FFN to AO3), I yearn for the ability to pull off the whole “Show, don’t Tell” as good as certain people I could mention (Vincent Price and Paul Frees, mainly).
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? It can be tricky depending on the language, but rewarding if it all works out.  In Hogan’s Heroes, LeBeau switching between French and English happens nearly once per episode, so I endeavor to do that (with plenty of help from Bel, I will admit). For Illya speaking Russian or Ukrainian in MFU, I throw it into Google Translate and pray it comes out coherent.  His dialogues are the most challenging by far since I’m on my own. For Flim-Flam speaking Nepali in 13 Ghosts, I have a much easier time since Nepali is similar enough to Hindi (which I am decently fluent in).
First fandom you wrote for? Pokémon, way back in 1999 (though those fics will never see the light of the internet, ever).
Favorite fic you've ever written? Going to do this for my main three fandoms–
Man from U.N.C.L.E. -- the aforementioned Haunted Mansion crossover, "The Grim Grinning Ghosts Affair" (mostly gen, but established Napollya bickering and canonical Hatbox Ghost/Beating Heart Bride going on in the background); The Ghost Host and Madame Leota draw Napoleon and Illya to the Mansion under admittedly false pretenses in the hopes that the mortal duo can help the Hatbox Ghost wrangle the mad spirit of Constance Hatchaway.
13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo -- "Class Reunion" (gen); Vincent brings the gang to his school reunion, and as Daphne, who's been learning magic from Vincent, is determined to prove herself to the assembled witches and warlocks, there is trouble brewing as a nefarious plot involving the Forbidden Arts underway.
Back to the Future– “‘Cause I Might Not Make It Back” (Gen).  Marty is pursued by a renegade scientist to be used as leverage against Doc, resulting in him getting stranded in 1932, stricken with amnesia.  As 1986 Doc searches for Marty, the ripple effect fails to kick in as his 1932 counterpart finds him, and is tasked with trying to figure out how to get Marty’s memory back, as well as keep him out of the clutches of his renegade pursuer.

Note
My guy, Hawks is unraveling more and more each chapter and I’m just wading in it like a wave pool. Absolutely giddy. I’m not sure how correct this translation is, but someone said he told endeavor to stop dabi “at all cost” and if that’s true, what an absolutely buck wild thing to do. Because the subtext is pretty clear. He’s telling enji to kill his son.
Yep. No, it's very exciting when Hawks gets like this, like all aboard the Hawks-acoaster, murder attempts ahead. I have no idea if this pun works in Japanese, but man, was this dude spot on about creating a world where heroes have time to kill.
(badum-tsch. thank you, I'll be here all night.)
Giddy is really the perfect word for it. Hawks's premonition about cornered people is honestly about himself. He says he feels "Free" in 299, but also tells us that true natures come out when people feel cornered or feel finally free. And like, according to Hawks he's currently the latter, but he's about to be the former.
And that the people around him won't see his true nature until he feels cornered. Or at least the hero side, because Jin did and Dabi learned too late about what sort of person Takami Keigo is.
Between having to face his actions (Twice), his fantasy of heroism breaking in front of his eyes (the Todofam drama), and the immense amount of pressure on him at the moment, this is Keigo's time to break. Hence why I wrote that little meta on his veneer cracking.
So, yeah, after four and a half years of being one of the most complex and confounding and contradictory characters, to the point where my initial statement from my first meta, that Hawks is a character that says one thing, thinks another, and does something else entirely, still applies, we're finally going to see who he is.
And the fact we have Dabi involved, who we all knew would be involved in this from the moment we saw them in 191? Heck, even earlier?
And that's he's repeating himself - he said they need to kill the twice clones (and Toga i guess), and now he's telling Enji to put his son down? Yeah, that's the thing - that's who Hawks is. This is the man who smiled at another man and called him good and a friend and none of that stopped him from killing him.
None of that stopped him from singing his praises after killing him, either. One of the fascinating parts of his whole deal.
I think it's just going to be abundantly clear that Keigo is this ruthless person who just doesn't understand ties of friendship and family as well as other people. He tells us he understood his parents were broken, It was hinted at during the raid when he essentially told Dabi he wasn't reacting right to the death of a friend, but I think it showed that Hawks has a very set idea, almost textbook like, of human behavior and it needing to fulfill certain patterns.
This is, of course, very common in extremely abused children. And children raised in institutions have this issue. I also want to make it clear that Hawks believes he's doing the right thing. Or necessary things for the right reasons. That's a core part of his personality no matter what. He might be extremely ruthless and lacking in what others take to be humanity, but Hawks wants to be a good person. You can't understand him without accepting that he does awful things for what he believes are good reasons and manages to keep "sane" by telling himself that they need to happen or that he has no choice in the matter (removing his own agency to not take accountability).
Hawks is at once both extremely perceptive but also somewhat incapable of understanding some of the nuances of complex relationships. I don't think he truly understands why Jin picked the League over what he was offering him, even if he admires the kind of person Jin is (in a moment of self-awareness knowing that he isn't that sort of person and likely cannot be). And I am very, very sure watching Enji Todoroki reach out to his murderous, villainous, and likely in Keigo's eyes, irredeemable son at the expense of their society (and thus Keigo himself) will be the final straw for him. Because Keigo never got that from his parents. Keigo has done 'good' all his life, and is now shunned by the people (civilians) he's been breaking himself for.
That TV that so captured his attention as a child is about to lose its signal.
I don't think Hawks will able to understand why Enji would want to save someone who doesn't want to be saved. Remember what he told Jin? That when neither side (heroes or villains) don't want to give up, someone has to die? That's what he sees here, and the main issue is that Hawks will absolutely see this as Enji giving up. Endeavor isn't Endeavoring (which means Enji isn't doing the things Hawks likes him for). So, yeah, I think he'll either try to do it himself or snap and harm Enji (which would be a perfect time for Shouto to stop him).
So, yeah, I'm excited. I mean its awful that he's telling Endeavor to kill his son, but man have I waited for the follow breakdown when Enji doesn't do this for years.

oh please do share about the miraculous ladybug finale I wanna know what they did this time
-🎵
I love how I made that post about it and then just never talked about it LMAO
doing that now, so !!! I'm gonna preface this with at the time of me watching the finale, I had NO idea that there was going to be a season 6 jfghfjghf I legit thought that season 5 was the final season because that's what had been discussed in previous years (as far as I'm aware anyways) so my thoughts and issues with the season finale were bc I thought we were ending after season 5
now onto what I had issues with! :D
my biggest issue was that it was only ladybug who fought with hawkmoth (or monarch as he's eventually called). like the show has sidelined chat noir PLENTY of times before in the past, and as a chat noir enjoyer it's always been very frustrating. but not having him involved in the finale????? having marinette be the ONLY one to know the truth about gabriel and adrien's family??? bro that is going to tear that poor girl up inside
and also there are SO many loose ends that haven't been tied up (again, this was something I had issue with before I knew about s6). like it would've been really great to have that verbal confirmation that adrien is a sentimonster other than the implications with gabriel's rings and felix and kagami's story to marinette. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but I was a tiny bit confused by the story they told to marinette???? it's like they hinted at the confirmation rather than outright saying it.
aND THEN GABRIEL BEING REMEMBERED AS A HERO. BRO. BRO. HAVING ADRIEN SAY THAT HE WANTS TO BE LIKE HIS DAD..... HERO OR NOT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT GABRIEL WAS A SHIT FATHER TO HIM??????
all of that being said. when you throw in the knowledge that there's going to be a season 6, a lot of this starts to make sense?
specifically this "perfect world" that we see all of the characters in after gabriel makes his wish. I mean just earlier in the episode marinette says that you can't have a perfect world, but we as humans can use our humanity to find the perfect human and realistic solution to a problem. and then we cut to this almost dreamy type paris after, and I think you're meant to be heavily off put by everything because it feels too good to be true. it's supposed to leave you feeling weird and I think with adrien especially you're supposed to raise a brow.
and this is just me being hopeful but I sure do hope that we get a proper finale. where it's ladybug and chat noir fighting together and we get a proper ending.
ALSO I WAS SO??? DISAPPOINTED AT NO IDENTITY REVEAL??? like okay now it makes sense that they didn't reveal their identities because the show isn't over, but before I knew about a s6 I was so ????
and yeah that's pretty much it. I've been following this show since I was 13 I think, and the writing always leaves so much to be desired man. miraculous is truly a case where the fandom can collectively write the show (and characters!) better than the actual creators of the show can.
but those are my thoughts about the finale! again, most of them were made because I thought the show was ending after season 5, so knowing that there's a season 6 coming a lot of my grievances have been put to rest jgfghfgj but in the moment I was so "what the fuck?????"

Hi um! Edgeshot backstory headcanon as fits my personal version of him?!? yeah!!
CW// familial death
He's mixed—Thai on his mother's side, Chinese and Japanese on his father's side
(his grandmother is Chinese and his grandfather is Japanese)
He was born in Thailand and lived there until he was ~9 years old
He moved because his parents and sister, uh. died.
His closest living relative at the time was his grandma, who lived in Japan.
His grandpa had also died (much earlier; of unrelated health causes), so it was just him and Nǎinai </3
She pretty much raised him from then on (along with some help from his cousin, but she mainly just babysat)
Because of. all of that. He speaks a total of three languages: Thai, Mandarin, and Japanese. He also has plenty of influence from all three cultures ✨
ok, moving forward
He was honestly closer with Tsunagu at UA than he was with anyone in his class.
This one's canon, but he trained with Tsunagu pretty regularly. They were pretty close.
Graduated at the top of their class though! <3
Back to Nǎinai— Her house that she had was pretty big, with a whole garden in the back with a koi pond and a small pavilion and everything.
She lived a long time, but sadly passed sometime in Shinya's 20s. He continued to tend to the house and garden in her absence the same way they used to together.
The house had a lot of strong memories for him though, so they moved in with Tsunagu after they got together. He never sold the property or anything. Continues to care for the garden, visits regularly to clean and reminisce.
Tsunagu helps with the plants, too. He's better with the potted/indoor houseplants, while Shin'ya mostly tends to the vegetables.
In my head they are content with their lives like this (we are Ignoring canon, k?)
Uhh now just random miscellaneous headcanons for him I guess??
prefers tea over coffee lol
Left-handed. Idk he has the vibes ig?? This one has been rooted in my brain for a WHILE now (+bonus points to anyone who noticed that in my art already /lh)
Likes to doodle! Will honestly doodle in anything that has margins or available space. notes, paperwork, the undersides of origami paper...
(he/they) but doesn't actually care that much
good?? at math???
TOTAL cat person
There are several stray cats that regularly visit his Nǎinai's garden. He feeds them and cherishes their presence deeply. Has names for ALL of them and actually cried when one of them had kittens
He actively changes the.. I'm not sure what word to use for it. Tone? Depth?... He alters his voice a little bit for his hero persona. His natural speaking voice is actually a lot lighter and not as. raspy.?
He does that because it adds to the ✨charm✨ of his reputation a bit, but it also helps keep him fairly unrecognizable when he's not on duty.
(I totally yoinked that one from the anime; That scene where he said the pizza delivery distraction line? I didn't even realize that he was the one that said it at first, and then I thought about it for a while and just came to this conclusion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
Tsunagu gave him his signature red scarf when they were in their UA years. He doesn't use the original in his hero costume, but he did integrate it into his costume design.
He has heterochromia. I just really like this one.
Needs glasses though (stole that one from Newt <3)
Also has a. fascination. with human anatomy. Could probably list off the scientific names for every body part, if you asked. (also stole that one from Newt <3)
he LOVES stories. Urban legends, myths, folktales, experiences, personal gossip—anything of that sort. Nǎinai told him lots of stories when he was younger. His favorites were the ones about ninjas.
He now has a collection of books that could probably be considered a library, featuring both fiction and historical nonfiction. Most of it he keeps at Nǎinai's house, but he has some relevant stuff in his agency's office.

Actors can spend their entire careers waiting for a role like Eddie Munson. The resident metalhead of Stranger Things core setting of Hawkins, Indiana, Munson captured the hearts of viewers worldwide, becoming a hit internet sensation that turned actor Joseph Quinn from a relative unknown in the world of TV and film into a star-in-the-making. Hammer sat down with Quinn earlier this year to talk Eddie Munson, his guitar heroes and why Foo Fighters should write the music for his on-screen band, Corroded Coffin.
Tumblr media
When you took the role of Eddie Munson, did you expect that it would take off like it has?
“Not at all. No, I think expectations get you in trouble in this game, and I couldn’t have predicted people’s warmth and acceptance for him. So it’s a really lovely feeling, it caught me completely off guard.”
What attracted you to the role in the first place?
“Well, the chances are so stacked against you - it’s very rare to be asked to participate in something that has this much kind of cultural significance so it was a no-brainer.”
How much of the character had been fleshed out when you were cast?
“I auditioned a couple of scenes that were actually in the show. We had no idea how many episodes he was going to be in; we were told at least four. But I didn’t know anything about what would happen at the end, or how much he would actually be involved in the season. So I’m delighted that I got as much to sink my teeth into.”
What were your influences for the character?
“I think we all have those people that were a little bit older than us growing up, that we admired or had a soft spot for. I was always very impressed with those people that were a little bit older than me that were very nonconformist, a little attention seeking.”
How reflective is Eddie of you?
“Not much. We all have moments where we feel vulnerable, maybe overcompensate. I joined my school two years late, so I guess there was maybe a little bit of overcompensation there. But I’ve been very lucky, I’ve always had friends and haven’t felt like too much of an outsider.
But with all of my characters, if you don’t humanise them, you don’t care about them, and if people aren’t vulnerable and themselves and authentic, you tend to not really want to be around them. I think we’re far more drawn to someone that’s offensively imperfect than someone that’s constantly trying to be perfect and impressive.”
We hear you “connected with the character through metal” – what were your entry points?
“I listened to Master Of Reality by Black Sabbath over and over. Master Of Puppets as well, Slayer… all that kind of stuff. That was my way into that whole world, really. Black Sabbath were my guys, and Led Zeppelin too, but I guess they’re less metal.”
Is it true you’re actually a guitarist too?
“Yeah, I’ve played since I was a kid, but it’s been woefully under practised in recent years.”
What was it that got you into guitar?
“Well, my dad played guitar and my granddad played for a time, so it’s something we’d do as a family. We are by no means virtuosos, but we all have a go.”
Who are your guitar heroes?
“Hendrix is an obvious one, I was always very enamoured with him. Nirvana were my first proper band obsession; I had all of Kurt Cobain’s posters on my wall. It’s kind of cliché, but it’s true.”
Did you get any input on the epic Master Of Puppets solo in the new season? Was it your choice?
“I don’t know where the fuck the showrunners got it from! Ha ha ha! But it was completely their choice. It was the perfect song for a crescendo to take us through this crazy sequence. I think it’s an inspired choice, really.”
Will we ever hear Eddie’s band, Corroded Coffin?
“We’re working on an EP… Joking! I’m joking!”
It’s not that ridiculous – Dave Grohl did it with Dream Widow this year…
“Maybe I should email him – ‘Would you write the music for Corroded Coffin please?’”
How would they sound?
“Oh, thrash! Proper, old-school thrash – really fast, really evil.”
If you could play any rock star in a biopic, who would you choose?
“Keith Moon would be pretty cool, you could have a lot of fun with him. I don’t understand how that hasn’t been done already. I’ve actually heard that there’s something in the works, but I don’t think I’m in consideration for it. Whoever gets to go at that… That’ll be a lot of fun.”

Everything Right/Wrong with Ninjago “Rise of the Serpentine” E1: Rise of the Snakes
Sorry it’s late but here’s the next part! Remember to comment/like/reblog if you read (I always read your comments, even if I don’t always reply lol). If you need a refresher, you can view disclaimers here: https://satansaidmyturnintheh3llscape.tumblr.com/post/683453955504816129/everything-rightwrong-with-ninjago
Part is below the cut!
- “Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master…” No it wasn’t. The show has been lying to our faces for like a decade ❌
- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Ninjago has one of the BEST tv show intro sequence/theme songs in tv history ✅
- I’m sorry but why does Nya’s title card look so lame compared to the others 😭 ❌
- Kai astral projects his voice through Cole’s body simply to remind you that he’s the main character ❌
- “It is I! Lloyd Garmadon!” Ya ever just hear a character’s introductory line and just know “oh yeah, you’re gonna be my comfort character aren’t you” ✅
- LORD Garmadon names his son LLOYD Garmadon ❌
- One of my favorite details about Lloyd’s design here is that you can see he painted the rib cage design onto his hoodie. Green Bean DIY’d his clothes in order to cosplay his own father ✅
- “Lloyd Garmadon? I thought we were gonna face Lord Garmadon?” “It’s his son! Looks like he escaped his boarding school for bad boys again…” sometimes the implication that Cole has had run-ins with Lloyd in the past is literally what keeps me going ✅
- Also, Darkley’s Boarding School for Bad Boys is a title that I have been able to go YEARS without actually having to say out loud and I plan to keep to that pattern ❌
- The Serpentine War was a massive part of Ninjago history, and it only took place 40 years ago, so how can Kai possibly think it’s a myth?? ❌
- Four random teenagers in fruit-colored pajamas kidnap an 8 year-old who is convinced his dad is an evil warlord and carry him away whilst ensuring people that there’s “nothing to see here” and no one has any issue with this ❌
- The ninja strand an orphaned 8-year old on top of a building and then continue to mock and laugh at him alongside an entire town of grown adults, and then just LEAVE him there. Our heroes! ❌
- “It’s a scroll, windbag.” Angry that Kai would dare astral project his voice into Cole earlier, Cole decides to do the same to Kai ❌
- And then they both do the same thing again! Fellas, I think this just became a war ❌
- In a fit of rage and embarrassment, 8 year-old child walks all the way from this random, somewhat snow-covered mountain to f*cking Antarctica ❌
- This tomb was way too easy to find ❌
- 8 year old defeats ancient serpentine general by slipping on ice ❌
- Sl@very ❌
- Then again, an immature, whiney little brat is the most accurate representation I’ve ever seen of a r@cist so ✅
- *As Kai and Jay are fighting* Gee, OG Ninjago sure had some intense fight scenes, didn’t it /s ❌
- “WHAT are you doing?!!” Training, like you told them to?? ❌
- “The serpentine? They’re reAL-“ Annoying audio cut ❌
- “When you hear them rattle their tails, DONT look em in the eyes!” This would be great advice, Nya… if it wasn’t for the fact that only one of them has a tail ❌
- “If we can get the staff from him, it holds the anti-venom…” How and when does she figure this out?? ❌
- “Oh and Nya; you can be our honorary member.” Let’s just say feminism isn’t the shows forte’ quite yet ❌
- “We should’ve dealt with you the first time around.” You did deal with him. You just did so like a group of middle school bullies❌
- “Look into my eyes…” Cole had plenty of reaction time before Skales actually started hypnotizing him ❌
- “If we had dealt with Lloyd before he became a problem…” Ya know, disturbing the peace is still a problem, Kai ❌
- “There is much to teach” Which is why you will see me teach you practically nothing. And anytime I do teach you something, it will be at a detrimental moment where you will be required to figure it out in a matter of seconds. And that other time it was about rumors ❌
- “When am I gonna get my own dragon?” “Patience, Nya. Your time will come.” Wu read so many pages ahead in the script that he read beyond the point that the show was originally supposed to end! ❌
- Cole. Was standing. INSIDE. The fountain! ❌
Sentence: Lloyd is best character

please write a zelink tangled au fic 🥺🥺🥺
HAHA this took so long to get right. I'm not completely happy with it, but it's better than I thought it was when I finished it a few days ago.
I started writing it where Link was in the tower, and then I was wanting Sheik in the story some way, and it just got a little more complicated. I settled on something much more conventional to the prompt.
Zelink I used... well I thought the fairy tale inspired AU would fit the earlier zelda games... but I've only ever played the first zelda for half an hour and did not get very far (well, and link's awakening, but that's sort of removed from the zelda part of legend of zelda). So when I say loosely early zelda games, know that's just for the general vibes.
Without further ado:
The young woman’s gloved hands sparkled with magic and Link found himself bound by some invisible force. The room was dark, where it had been lit by the mid-morning sun not minutes before.
“Something brought you here,” she said, “fate… destiny…”
Link said nothing, still reeling that not only was the tower occupied, it was occupied by a pretty girl who could use magic.
“Trying the silent treatment?” she asked, drawing closer. Close enough he could see the violet of her eyes. “Well, I know other spells, and–”
“I was exploring,” he interrupted, “This tower looked abandoned.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You were exploring?”
He nodded.
“Why do you have those?” she asked, looking pointedly at the sword on his back, and the hookshot still in his hand.
“Monsters.”
“Monsters?”
He squinted at her slightly and would’ve tilted his head if he could move that much. “You don’t get out much, do you?”
“So you didn’t come here to–” she shut her mouth before she could finish the question.
“I’m an adventurer,” he said in an attempt to put her at ease. “Treasure hunter when convenient, former hero.”
“Former?”
The magical binds tightened around him and Link corrected himself hastily. “Uh, forget about it.”
This only made her more upset.
“Did you do something villainous to cancel out the heroics?”
“No, no!” he exclaimed, “It was just a long time ago. I was just a kid.”
She loosened the binds slightly. “What did you do?”
“I slew a few big monsters,” he explained, “they were bothering people in Hyrule, and–”
The magical bonds were released completely, and Link fell to the floor with a startled yelp. Ignoring his ignoble cry, the girl helped him up. She watched him owlishly, as if seeing him for the first time. It wasn’t fear or distrust, but curiosity.
“You’ve been to Hyrule?” she asked.
The change in demeanor was so great, he had to stare for a moment before answering, “Yeah…”
She pulled him to the curtain covered window, her hand surprisingly strong for someone so unassuming and pulled the coverings aside. The landscape stretched out before them, the green and thorns surrounding the tower, and the dark woods beyond that. She pointed out towards a mountain to the north. “It’s that direction, right?”
He nodded, and she pulled him away excitedly to a thick book on a desk. She leafed through the pages with an expert speed, clearly having come to the spot in the book many times judging from how the spine sagged. The page was of a star map with small neat notes in the margins.
“Each year, on my birthday, there are lights released into the sky from that direction. According to this star chart I estimated it to be Hyrule, but I don’t have any books about Hyrule. When I asked Father, he told me there was no need for me to learn about such a horrible place. So I didn’t know if it was simply a coincidence that the two things coincided.”
She glanced up at him to see if he was paying attention. “Do you know what I’m talking about?”
He furrowed his brows, trying to remember. “I’ve not been there in a long time, and I like to explore cave systems often enough…”
Her shoulders drooped, and she continued with, “They’re beautiful. I’ve… I’ve always wanted to see them up close, but I’m not allowed to leave the tower.”
“You really want to go see them,” he observed.
She nodded, almost shyly.
“Let’s go, then,” he said.
“Didn’t you just hear me?” she asked, “Father would kill me!”
“How old are you turning?” he asked back. She was taken aback and nervously played with a piece of her long strawberry blonde hair.
“I’m turning seventeen in two days,” she said.
“And you’ve never been to Hyrule?” he asked, “by the time I was eleven I was well on my way out of the Kokiri forest.”
More hair twisting through her gloved hands. She averted her eyes and said almost meekly, “I’ve never left the tower.”
Oh. Link readdressed the situation. He couldn’t imagine being stuck in a tower for a few days, much less his entire life!
“Then you have to go!” he entreated. “Being stuck in a place like this would–” he stopped himself. He cleared his throat and continued, “what I mean is, travel is great! Besides, when is your dad getting back?”
“In three days,” she answered.
“Oh, that’s plenty of time to get there and back without him even knowing.”
“And you’d help me out of the kindness of your heart?” she asked.
“Of course,” he answered, then leaned in conspiratorially. “I was a hero in my youth, I sometimes get these selfless urges.”
She giggled at that, and a stray thought struck Link. Half joking he said, “Although, considering how well read you are, you might be able to help me with something else.”
“Yes?” she asked.
“Well, for a while now I’ve been searching for the triforces. I’ve already found one, but now I just need to find wisdom and power. Honestly, this tower looked a little promising, but it housesd you, not a magic triangle thing-y.”
She drew back slightly. “What do you want with those?” she asked.
He shrugged, “I heard if you combine them they grant a wish.”
“And what would you wish for?”
He laughed then at her curiosity and responded, “Oh you know, a private island, riches, a magic talking boat…”
“A magic talking boat?”
He nodded. “So I could have company when I’m sailing.”
“And you sail?”
“Never a day in my life.”
Some of the mirth was back and he was glad for it.
“It’s certainly an odd dream if you don’t know if you like boating,” she said, and then thoughtfully added, “but I wish to see the lights and I don’t know what they are either.” She nodded once and started packing her things. “I will go with you–” she colored slightly and then turned back to look at him. “I just realized, I never asked for your name, and I never gave mine.”
Link had gotten used to not being asked his name. Though he had been growing curious about hers.
With a graceful curtsy she introduced herself, “I am Zelda.”
He saluted and said, “I’m Link.”
“Well, Link, I believe we’re wasting daylight.”
Once packed with supplies, a task she completed much too quickly to only have been thinking about leaving in their brief meeting, Zelda approached her large window. Link wondered if she had a rope or any other way to get down, when after a long minute of staring at the wide world outside, she disappeared in a cloud of dust.
Link looked around desperately, wondering where she could’ve gone.
“Hey!” she called. He stuck his head out of the window to see her on the ground. “What are you waiting for?”
Link retrieved his hook shot and without further encouragement, met her on the ground.
To Hyrule they went.
