Tumblr media
The clown that once ran @painted-piggy-ships-archive has now taken up residence here after feeling exhausted with my very first self ship blog. It served me well for almost three years (the blog itself turns 3 in February of 2023). Can you believe I only joined Tumblr in 2020?
Anywho, the name’s Gabriel/Corey/Clownie and I am mostly attracted to a vast selection of fictional villains, but my other consistent interests include the arts (particularly film and writing) and the horror genre. This blog will be a mix of self shipping content and personal ramblings. I don’t often post straight up ns//ft content but my sense of humor can be raunchy at times and the content I’m interested in often tends to be gory/violent if not also sexual in nature so viewer discretion is advised.

Accidental Magical Settlements in England, vol 1
On occasion, when a place has been steeped in magic, it becomes a magical settlement. The existing community may see many benefits from this, including a longer than average lifespan and increased health. It is not recommended that one tries to create a settlement. These things must occur organically to be done correctly.
Severus never meant to create a new magical area...village...settlement. Spinner's End wasn't so grand as to call itself a village. Not as one long dead end street of two-up-two-downs. But he had. Over time.
Completely inadvertently. Possibly.
It had been so easy when he first started helping his neighbors. They were mostly older, his Mam and Da's generation (mother and father were for Hogwarts...he'd have a thick ear if he tried being that hoity-toity here) with a few younger couples sprinkled in.
He knew the houses, though, knew the layout and the maintenance headaches, and he'd saved himself time with some shortcuts.
Runes. He'd used runes and tied them into his warding scheme and then extended his warding scheme over the whole row because...he couldn't bear these people to be used, should the worst happen.
Pete and Bob and the Marys (Mary Catherine, Mary Margaret, Mary Daniela, and Mary Dahlia) and Mrs. McNeily and Jack and Helen and the Mayviews and that young family who inherited when Mrs. Hanlon passed. Her son, he thought. No, her grandson. A doctor and his family. They'd fit right in.
But the runes. He'd carved ever-fresh sequences while fixing a pantry shelf (the price of utilities kept going up and up...why not give a hand?) and weatherproofed the slates he fixed up on the roofs and converted a few boilers from gas to magic and in the end he'd created a magical settlement.
The young doctor Hanlon had been very frank one fine evening when everyone took to the front of the house. Severus had set up tables in the street and wheeled out a victrola. Soft music wafted over them all in the cool, soft evening light. It reminded him of the better moments in his childhood.
"We were going to sell up and clear all Nan's stuff out, but we stepped inside and it felt like home. We'll have to put some kind of extension on, I think, but we're staying. I've never felt anything like it before."
Severus watched Hanlon's children grow, taught the whole family the dances of his youth, and on fine evenings fiddle and drum played through the air. He explained why Gracie and Maeve and Daniel could do some of the things they did. He watched all three, over time, sort into Hufflepuff and sent a letter to Hanlon praising them.
The children brought friends and friends parents who marveled at how close they all were. How they'd bring their different bits of work—lesson planning and knitting and whittling projects and medical journals and green beans to snap—out and work in companionable quiet of a summer evening. How they had row ceilidhs and row dinners and all sorts of things. How there weren't any cars so children could play as they wished.
You didn't see communities like theirs much.
And one day a young man with dark hair and shadowed green eyes showed up with the worst news. Their Russ had passed. Some of them, now so very old and so very spry and not really understanding why, knew those eyes. The Evans girl's boy had returned to them.
And he stayed.
He stayed because they knew his mum and Snape had left him the house (cookbooks to Millicent) and charged him with looking after his people. He stayed because he wanted to and because it was a concrete thing to do.
He wasn't their Russ, but he became their Harry.
And if he never knew the looks shared by the old crowd (especially the Marys), well, that was all for the better. They knew those eyes and that coloring for all he called himself a Potter.
He had a book from Snape and a job to do and... somehow, he found home.

26 Reasons why Qrow is not Ruby’s father and why Taiyang is Ruby’s father
In response to the toxic aspect of the fandom attacking CRWBY and demanding that their desires for Qrow be chosen over canon, or how they feel their theory is more valid than the show itself? I have researched RWBY to make this 26-point Discussion as to why Canon is valid, and fancanon is not when it comes to Qrow Branwen, Ruby Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, and Summer Rose.
 1.       “Monty said NO”    Most obviously. Monty Oum.
He said in this tweet that ruby and yang are half-sisters…half-sisters,  which means they share the same mom or dad…in this case Taiyang….
  https://twitter.com/montyoum/status/492070189731565568
Now people have claimed “he obviously meant step-sisters or cousins” Why is it that every time we show the English dictionary to you people or ask you to read it, that you claim you are being attacked or that you claim Monty was misleading us?
 2.       The writers said NO
Miles Luna debunked this theory on Reddit…
He pointed out that Ruby sees Qrow as a Role model, so she adapts her colors to be similar to his.
And you don’t need somebody to be blood to be your role model.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/7x3w4s/crwby_ama_w_miles_luna_kerry_shawcross_and_paula/du5d67g/?
 3. “Rooster Teeth said NO” Rooster Teeth even said that Qrow is "Ruby and Yang's Uncle" They also said “Ladies, he’s not your man”
https://twitter.com/RoosterTeeth/status/1067205612331782144
 4.  “But what if Summer had feelings for Qrow? Why does Qrow Serve Ozpin?” Qrow said in Volume 6 " No one wanted me... I was cursed... I gave my life to you because you gave me a place in this world... I thought I was finally doing some good... " So he was saying he wasn't wanted, so no relationship with Summer. SUMMER DID NOT WANT HIM. And he was literally saying he served Ozpin because Ozpin gave him purpose. It’s pretty sad how people think Qrow can only be a complex character if he obsesses over another person’s wife and child. What , you wanna make him Severus Snape, the Lilly Potter stalker who insulted a girl’s face and tried to poison a boy’s pet and publicly outed a teacher?
https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Qrow_Branwen/Quotes#So_That.27s_How_It_Is
5, "But Qrow could be lying" Except in volume 6 Qrow literally said "Don't lie...we're better than that"
And in volume 7?
" Long time ago. I just found working alone tends to be for the best "
" Gotta say, I’m still not really used to working with other Huntsmen in the field. "
And finally World Of Remnant on Patch.
" Nice place to raise a family, if you're into that sort of thing. "
https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Qrow_Branwen/Quotes#So_That.27s_How_It_Is
  6.  “Qrow fans claim that Ruby and Summer form a core part of Qrow’s character and backstory.” WRONG! The main accusation for demanding Rooster Teeth / CRWBY change the backstory for Qrow would accomplish nothing.
Raven already pushed Yang onto Taiyang to raise on his own.
Qrow forcing Tai to Raise Ruby alongside Yang while Qrow could regularly visit, and while Summer lived with Taiyang, Yang, and Ruby?
It would cheapen Qrow’s character….blood isn’t everything.  Neither are cliches.
 7. “But what if Qrow gave Ruby to Tai to raise after Summer’s death?” Volume Chapter 6, Burning the Candle.
Yang tells Blake that she (yang) and Ruby were raised together by Summer and Taiyang…not by Taiyang on his own, but by Summer and Taiyang.
Yang clearly had memories of being raised by Summer and Tai both,  which meant that Summer and Taiyang lived together raising Ruby and Yang for Several Years.
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZkN-53h5Os
  8. “Does Taiyang care about Summer or Ruby?” Taiyang was noted to have shut down when Summer didn’t come back…. Yang noted this in Volume 2 Chapter 6, and Ruby mentioned in the first episode of Volume 3 that Taiyang missed Summer. Qrow also said that Ruby is Taiyang’s “Special Angel”…. Ruby has also pointed out numerous times that Taiyang is Overprotective of Ruby. In fact, Ruby's conversation with Penny about overprotective fathers.
 9. “Qrow knows Taiyang is Ruby’s Father. Taiyang knows Ruby is Taiyang’s daughter. Qrow has referred to Taiyang as Ruby’s father during volume 3 and 7. Taiyang referred to Ruby as his daughter in volume 3.
 10. “Why didn’t Taiyang train Ruby in Martial Arts?” Taiyang is a martial arts fighter.   Ruby has neither the build nor the personality for ruthless hand to hand combat like her sister… Taiyang would trust Qrow, despite his semblance.   Remember how bad Ruby was in v5?
 11. “Qrow’s semblance is not what his fans exaggerate it to be”
Speaking of Qrow’s semblance? He was playing video games with his nieces,   taught at Signal Academy,   and could train Ruby… Clearly,  his semblance is not what theorists make it out to be.
 12. “Why doesn’t Qrow treat Yang the same way he treats Ruby?”
Yang is the daughter of Qrow’s sister, who abandoned the team.
During a one on one interaction between Qrow and Yang after yang vs mercury, Qrow called his own niece crazy, after she had been framed.
Qrow was not empathetic to Yang.
Qrow may not like Yang’s resemblance to Raven.
Ruby is the daughter of his two closest friends, so of course he’d prefer Ruby over Yang.
 13.  “Examples of Taiyang caring for Ruby.”
Volume 2 Ruby was excited when Taiyang sent a package in the mail, not even knowing it was Zwei.
Taiyang was at Ruby’s bedside in V3, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
He also tried to bring her breakfast in bed.
Taiyang said he wanted to chase after Ruby, but had to nurse Yang back to health.
During the V8 broadcast, Taiyang was upset when the broadcast was cut.
 14. “Genetics research”
Black hair is the subtype of the pigment for blonde hair…
Also, Ruby’s got the same hair strand that Yang and Taiyang have.
Finally, black hair is more dominant.
So Ruby doesn’t need blonde hair to be Taiyang’s kid.
https://askinglot.com/is-black-hair-a-dominant-or-recessive-gene
https://www.quora.com/If-a-jet-black-haired-parent-and-a-blonde-parent-have-children-what-color-hair-would-the-children-likely-have
 15. “The STRQ Photo”
The photo....Qrow was with STRQ for four years...do you really think Qrow is not allowed to cry on the photo unless he was romantically involved? Can't a man grieve over the death of a female friend that he was NOT in a relationship with? Or are men not allowed to have female friends? Ichigo and Rukia from Bleach for example...friendship. They were his friends, his family. People seem obsessed with the idea that Qrow cannot care about a woman unless he was romantically involved or unless he's their bastard father.
 16. “Men and Women…as friends, platonic” Harry Potter as a book showed that a boy and a girl can interact and still be friends…
Why can’t Qrow be Summer’s friend?
Why does he have to be her lover?
We’ve seen Qrow talk about Innkeeper’s skirt lengths and leer at Barmaids who flirted with him.
Also, he’s shown to be bonding with both Clover and Robyn.
People act like he doesn't flirt with anyone , and yet he does.
 17. “Bad Luck Charm” Qrow has spent his whole life with his semblance, named after a Crow.
Raised by the Branwen bandit tribe.
“You and I are not the same, you don’t want the burden of my name” Both Branwen and Qrow are names that Qrow hates due to his semblance and past…
People may think of him as cool, but Qrow suffers from self-loathing.
So NO, the Bad Luck Charm song does NOT in fact allude to Qrow being Ruby’s father, but that Qrow hates himself, hence a major part of why he’s alcoholic.
Proof of which is his volume 6 exchange with Ozpin about being useful, which Qrow disagrees with, leading him to drink further. Yang literally said that she had never seen qrow so drunk before in v6.
And Ruby encourages his self-worth leading him to try giving up alcohol….
His alcoholism is tied to low-self-esteem, not relationships.
 18. Manga Anthology
Taiyang was shown in the Manga Anthology to have shut down upon Summer’s Death. That impacted his relationship with Ruby and Yang. Qrow? Is relatively unaffected. The good Uncle helping around the house. Taiyang haters and Qrow stans took this to demand that Qrow is entitled to Ruby, despite Taiyang recovering and doing his best to be a father. Anything Qrow does is worshipped like Mother Teresa, while anything Taiyang does, good or bad, is downplayed and smashed. Taiyang loved Summer so much he was devastated by her death. Qrow was unaffected. Think about that.
 19. “I like Brats” Why does Qrow spend time with kids he’s not related to? Because he likes kids. You know how there are adults who enjoy being around brats? That’s Qrow. He didn’t have romantic feelings for Summer, he liked being around her because she was like a kid. Similar to how Blake likes Ruby’s idealism? And trusts her leadership?
 20.  “Taiyang the 2-timer accusation”
A woman on youtube claimed that Taiyang was a 2-timer who cheated on raven with summer, as there was, in her and her friends’ minds, “no way that taiyang could be with half his team” When asked about TaiQrow as a joke, she was angered that people even ship TaiQrow.
But let me ask you this. Are you the same person you are now that you were 10 years ago? People claim that Qrow was somehow cool in beacon…because he’s cool now. But Taiyang, who raises two kids, and holds a job and a house…cannot be ruby’s father…because he’s not cool? And that somehow he was never cool? I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had to be cool to be a parent. I also had no idea people were only allowed to be in one relationship per lifetime. Raven freaking abandoned Tai for the tribe. Summer chose Taiyang over Qrow. People literally make Qrow out to be either an OC in a shipping fanfic, or a Naruto fanfic where Naruto is written to be fawned over by a girl whose canonical spouse, boyfriend, or male friend is somehow rewritten as evil.
1 year…..in 1 year since Raven abandoned Taiyang and Yang, Summer Rose the friend of Taiyang’s who he had known for 4 years, became more than a friend.
So no….Taiyang is not a two-timer…he moved on from Raven.
 22. “Why can’t Taiyang talk about Summer?” To WHO? He’s barely got 15 minutes of screentime, and the writers did NOT do him any favors when they had Qrow demand he leave so Qrow could tell Ruby a secret Ozpin trusted him with, before telling Ruby to run away from home leaving only a freaking note. Terrible daughter. Even Yang was prepared to do the same! To a man whose first wife abandoned him! At least Weiss has a legit reason for acting as she does against Jacques, several at least. Ruby? No. Now why would Taiyang talk about Summer’s fighting style to Yang when trying to get her to stop acting like Raven in her fighting style and semblance? Sure if there was more time…but RT at the end of the day isn’t some money-hungry political entity, it’s a startup at the end of the day, they don’t have the ability to do a full anime episode. Also, Taiyang cannot go out on these active missions…he was a schoolteacher who did not do missions until only recently…he was retired, remember.
 23. “These fanworks make more sense to me”
Qrow fans have tried using fanworks to justify their theory or ship, the same way Blacksun fans or Adam apologists make similar claims, and even Raven fans try to claim Raven is somehow a good mother. What do these fanworks do? Hate on Taiyang. Dismiss Ruby and Yang being half-blood siblings. Ignore multiple elements of the show or scenes. Occasionally shit-talk the writers.
Every time somebody tries to make a “rwby rewrite” or “rwby alt” or “Qrow is ruby’s father au” they cannot do it without completely rewriting the characters in so many forms and even the show, till Qrow, Raven, Taiyang, and Summer are NOTHING like they are in the show…And ONLY how a shipper wants qrow to be.
Or rewriting qrow to be nothing like he is in the show.
Most Alt or Rewrite consists of making Taiyang abusive, a cheater, or refusing to allow him to interact with Summer, while regularly pushing qrowxsummer at each other.
So no…it’s not that it makes sense to them through some fanart….a headcanon that has been debunked is no longer headcanon. A theory that is shut down is no longer a theory. There’s a reason anti-vaxxers and flat-earthers still exist. Because to them, their theories make more sense than reality. Which is why people still believe Qrow is Ruby’s father the same way people believe vaccines cause autism. Neither are true, and no amount of facts will shut them down, but they’re both popular theories.
 24. “Qrow Rings and Cross”
People claim that Qrow was married to Summer or that his cross represents him mourning Summer. Did the STRQ photo, in v3, the same volume as his appearance, not show Qrow with his rings, his cross, and angrily scowling, while Summer was right next to Taiyang?
 25. “What about Summer Rose’s choice?”
Remember how I said making Qrow’s character based on solely Ruby and Summer, ignoring everything regarding the tribe and ozpin giving him hope, and the grimm reaper…was bad writing? There’s a reason people hated v5. Raven was proven to be the deadbeat, Qrow was shown to have friends, and that Taiyang knew about Salem, and of course it was confirmed that Yang and Ruby again were sisters by Raven.
Now how about Summer? Team leader….took a man and a daughter who were abandoned by her friend…and made them her own. Yang calls Summer Rose “Supermom” and “Her Hero”…was literally willing to storm a bandit camp so Raven could use her portal to take Yang to Qrow, so she could get to Ruby. And yeah, I know the RWBY critics scream “why didn’t Yang just look for Ruby in Mistral?” It’s a bloody kingdom, and Yang was pursuing a lead, that Tai had given her, and Qrow told Yang he’d look after her sister. Remember that? Oh wait, RWBY Critics forget, my bad. Anyway, she’s more of a sister to Qrow than his blood sister Raven, she’s more of a mother to Yang than Raven, and she’s more of a spouse to Tai than Raven. Good Stepmother. Non-married couple. Relationship built on trust. Blood is not the same as family. (Example Weiss’s remark to her father) (Or Dom Toretto)
So making Summer into a throw-away character who dies so that a brooding jerk of an alcoholic can claim character development? Making a woman nothing except a throw-away for a man to get development is BAD WRITING. For God’s Sakes, even Pyrrha was written better than that! She interacted with team rwby, nora was always helping her out, and so was Ren (though those shakes are a crime against humanity” But when Qrow fans try to demand he’s ruby’s father? Their fanworks make Summer as much of a flat character as Preston Harvey from Fallout 4, where they make Summer unable to do anything but be obsessed with Qrow and having his child, similar to how Preston cannot think of anything other than “Another settlement needs your help, I’ll mark it on your pip-boy”
 26. Finally, the accusations that CRWBY are lying.
“You have to be ****** if you believe CRWBY when they say Qrow isn’t Ruby’s father” “CRWBY is lying, it’s what writers do” “It’s okay for writers to lie, it’s good for plot” “I’d prefer it if CRWBY was lying to us” “Monty is dead, the writers should change it now” “Monty is dead, nothing else in the writing matters” “Monty was hiding the truth from us” “CRWBY is hiding the truth about Qrow being Ruby’s father” “It makes sense for CRWBY to lie to us” Look at this…Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, instagram…. The first quote? Was a woman who was using an anti-autism anti-disability slur defending the theory. Never have I ever seen people so obsessed with a  theory that they would deny reality and be rude to the very writers and original creator. But the QrowxSummer and Qrow is Ruby’s Father fandom group has made countless cases of this. THIS is how they defend their theory? And people upvote, like and support these remarks? SHAME SHAME SHAME
 Conclusion:
I get how people desire qrow to be Ruby’s father for ships or fanfics.
Even to where they make Taiyang a hated character just for the sake of making sure nobody disagrees with them.
But the attacking of RWBY and CRWBY, claiming that “this needs to be fixed”, or getting angry at RT for not giving you the non-canon ship you want? Claiming that just because you want it to be so, that somehow your ship/theory has “validity?”
That reflects poorly on the fandom and critics.
But then again…. It’s easy to ignore what’s real and what’s a fact that when theorists and ship-pushers and CRWBY Haters on youtube tells you to stop listening to monty and the writers, and instead believe whatever you want and claim whatever you want, Because surely you know what’s better for the show than the people who worked on it, right? Ha ha ha, no. THAT is the ULTIMATE disrespect somebody calling themselves a fan could ever give. And if you think or agree with that type of logic, you should look in the mirror.
I looked for backup sources to defend CRWBY and RWBY, you’ll find them below.

Harry Potter headcanons (sad)
That Hermione and Ron always wanted a huge family. Like, 5 children filling a burrow. However, they ended up with only two. Why? Hermione’s torture at the hands of Bellatrix left its marks, and she couldn’t have children after Hugo. Dark Magic always left marks.
That Dumbledore never really left limbo. He stayed there forever, unable to allow himself to move due to the blood he had on his hands, lives he sacrificed for the greater good.
That George dyed his hair blue after the battle in order to stop reminding himself of Fred every time he saw a mirror.
That Grindelwald never stopped loving Dumbledore, and during their final duel, he actually had an opportunity to kill him, but couldn’t gather the will. Dumbledore used that moment to win.
That during Snape’s death, those tears with the memories, were also a sacrifice. Those tears were the memories themselves. So, when he died and went to the afterlife … he didn’t remember the person most featured in those memories, the one they focused on. In death, he never remembered Lily.
After the battle of hogwarts, Dennis Creevey becomes a photographer …. which was what his brother, Colin, had wanted to become when he grew up.
That Sirius willingly fell into the veil, which only kills if you completely were thrown into it. What happened was that half of his body went to the other side, and he was immediately assaulted by whispers of his dead loved ones, especially lily and James. He died with a smile, as he jumped in to his next great adventure.
That for the first fifteen years of his life, what Tom Riddle saw in the Mirror of Erised was himself with his parents in a rich household, in a loving family. All he wanted was to be loved. All that changed when he made his first horcrux.
That Dumbledore’s boggart was himself. And, that it really was him who killed Ariana, something he found out in the afterlife.
When Ron was a little boy he overheard his aunt Muriel talking to her friend that how amazing Ron's elder brothers were. But she called Ron ‘Molly's failed attempt for a girl’. She also said that Ron was worthless and he was no one compared to his elder brothers. Ron had developed insecurities about not being good enough from that overheard conversation.
When Ron left in DH Hermione wrote a letter. Conveying EVERYTHING she felt for him. She was almost certain that she would never see him again. She would never be able to tell him how she felt for him. She kept that letter in her beaded bag. Years later Ron found out that letter. And he cried.
Once during an auror mission Ron was injured badly. He almost died. Hermione didn't leave his side for once. When he was slightly better, Hermione told him that she was pregnant. That was when Ron had decided to quit his job.
When Ron and Hermione were staying at the shell cottage Hermione had a long conversation with Fleur. Hermione told her that there was a huge chance that she wouldn't survive the battle of Hogwarts. She was a muggleborn afterall. So if something happened she wanted Ron to move on with his life. She wanted Fleur to promise her that she would help Ron to move on with his life.
When the flashing green light came rushing at James Potter's way he didn't see death, but was reminded of two pairs of vibrant green eyes staring lovingly at him.
Death works differently in the HPU. Once you die, you have the choice to stay in limbo for as long as you want, or to take the train. You could also become a ghost. However, along with that there’s also the choice of becoming a creature which is the embodiment of death - a thestral. This is why Luna has a favourite Thestral, and why there’s a huge influx of them in the forbidden forest after the battle of hogwarts.
Neville kept visiting his parents. With every milestone that he hit — graduating Hogwarts, marrying Hannah Abbott, being hired as a professor — he made it a tradition to see them. It was not until he visited with a baby girl in his arms, Alice Francesca Longbottom, that he saw a flash of recognition in his mother’s eyes.
The day Harry was born, all the marauders found themselves in St. Mungo’s. Hours later, Remus awoke in his chair just in time to see a black-haired man with a crooked nose regarding the new-born. With a last glance upon Lily he left, seemingly unseen.
As a child Teddy had a huge crush on his Aunt Hermione, and he would often give her flowers and ask her if they could get married someday. Once he grew up, he was commonly teased about his childhood crush on his aunt (not sad)
During the first few years that Severus was teaching at Hogwarts, all of the other teachers were very uncertain of him. They all thought that Dumbledore was mad for hiring him, as they all knew of his reputation as a Death Eater. But eventually he struck up a very playful rivalry with Minerva. They would sit together at Quidditch matches and pass snarky comments back and forth, both of them snorting in amusement. It also wasn’t uncommon to find them sat together in the evenings, having a cup of tea or a glass of firewhiskey. By the time Harry Potter came to Hogwarts, Minerva believed in him almost as much as Dumbledore did. (He often urged Severus to tell her the real reason he defected from the Death Eaters, but Severus always refused.) His hatred of the young Gryffindor was often a point of contention between the two unlikely friends, but their friendship remained strong. It withstood Voldemort’s return and the reformation of the Order of the Phoenix. But in the aftermath of the Battle of the Astronomy Tower and Dumbledore’s death, Minerva was completely shocked and outraged. She couldn’t believe she’d ever befriended him at all and swore she’d never forgive herself for trusting him. During the last year the two taught together she avoided him at all costs, talking to him only when it was absolutely necessary, and when she had to she did so rather stiffly. After the Battle of Hogwarts ended and he was dead, however, she learned the truth about his actions from Harry, who told her about his tragic tale. She cried on and off for days. And the first time she came face to face with his portrait she completely broke down.
Had Fred not died, the twins would have had an overly casual double wedding [and would probably switch places to mess with their brides]
When Remus woke up in Harry’s compartment in POA, he saw Harry giving him the same comforting and concerned look as James. For a moment he thought he was seeing James again. Then in sunk in that his dear friend was dead and it was James’ son.
Teddy saw Sirius’ picture once. He didn’t know who he was, so he changed himself to look like him. It was only when he grew up that he understood why Harry started crying when he saw him.
Once Professor McGonagall was made headmistress, she let Hagrid become a student. Harry saw Hagrid’s Patronus for the first time in his life three years after the war. It was Hedwig.
When Petunia and Lily were little, they would read Alice in Wonderland. Petunia would read Dudley the book, fully knowing he didn’t like it. She was reading it for Harry, who was listening from inside his cupboard. Petunia believed she owed this to Lily.
When Harry was a baby, he didn’t know his own name. Each of the marauders gave him a nickname. (James called him troublemaker.) When he lived with the Dursleys, and they called him a “troublemaker”, toddler Harry would get excited thinking that his dad was going to take him away from these horrible people.
During the Battle of Hogwarts, Nearly-Headless Nick’s head finally came off. Hence, he had to join the Headless Hunt. Thus, Gryffindor needed a new applicant. The new house ghost was a 17-year-old redheaded man and a large group of 12 students were excited to meet their beloved uncle.
When Teddy Lupin was a baby, his color turned into the person he wanted to hold him. Occasionally, it was Harry or Ginny or any other Weasley. But one day it turned pink and he could do nothing about it.
The Marauders used to take turns babysitting Harry, and it became a tradition to pass the baby and say, “You’re it. Good luck.” And the last thing Sirius saw as he fell through the veil was Remus holding Harry, and the last thought that went though his head was, “You’re it. Good luck.”
After Fred’s funeral, George does not return to the Burrow until about a year later. He refuses to go upstairs where his and Fred’s old room is and barely says a word. His hair is some wild outrageous color, cropped short and crooked, and Mrs. Weasley goes into a fit. She loudly asks why he would do that to himself, and is not prepared when he says, “I kept seeing him in the mirror.”
It’s the year after the Battle of Hogwarts. The school is still being repaired and the class size has dwindled down to pitiful numbers. And the Thestrals are so excited about the newfound attention they’d been getting.
Dobby wrote a will in which he sent Harry over 200 pairs of socks, Ron a pair of trainers, and a misshapen hat for Hermione.
No matter what he was doing or who he was with, Harry would always stop and pet any stray dog that he came across. If he could, he would give them any food he had. Eventually he became known as the man with the treats. Not Harry Potter or the Chosen One; just the quiet man with dogbones. When dogs would bound up to him, throwing their paws onto his chest and barking with glee at his arrival, he was reminded irresistibly of Sirius.
At Colin’s funeral, Harry didn’t say a word. He had been to so many funerals recently that pleasantries felt like a waste of breath, and how terrible would it be for him to waste his breath when he was so lucky to have it? He stood silent and watching, and as the last of the attendees left, Harry placed a tiny picture on Colin’s grave, taken by the late boy himself. It was the only autograph Harry Potter would ever give.
On May 2nd, 1998, Hogwarts held a moment of silence for the fallen. Not a single portrait stirred, not a single stair shifted. Even Peeves ducked into a corner and went silent. Then, when the silence ended, millions of different colored sparks took off into the sky.
Tonks is easily excitable and loved entertaining Hermione and Ginny with her Metamorphosis abilities. One day, she found a picture of Harry in Sirius’ room to turn herself into, and ran downstairs to show Remus and Sirius. And it wasn’t until Tonks watched their hearts break that she realized Harry’s eyes were the wrong color.
Harry kept each and every one of the sweaters that Mrs. Weasley had knitted him. One day while cleaning, she saw them folded with so much care in his drawer. She turned to see Harry wearing his newest Christmas Sweater proudly, like it was the greatest honor he could have been given, and she burst into tears.
One day, Harry accidentally calls Mrs. Weasley “Mum” instead of Molly. His face goes bright red, fumbling with apologies, and she (once again) burst into tears.
The first thing Draco Malfoy did after the war was Apparate into Muggle London and march straight into a tattoo parlor. He emerges, his face still bloody and burned, with an arm void of a black skull. Instead, he looks down at the skin covered in flowers and the skull changed into a silhouette of the castle, and smiles for the first time in two years.
George pulls Harry aside:
(“Harry, you’ve died, haven’t you?”
Harry looked up at George and regarded him, careful not to let any incredulousness show in his eyes — he knew all too well of the torment George must be feeling, of the weight in what he was visibly preparing himself to say.
“I have,” said Harry carefully.
George dipped his head; as he did, Harry caught something in his eyes that pained him so deeply, he was grateful George had tried to hide it from him.
“Does it...” George spoke to his shoes, and his voice sounded much older than Harry remembered. “Did... Did dying hurt, Harry? D’you think… that Freddie was in pain when...”
But George did not need to specify. Like he had been smacked right across the face with the words left unspoken, Harry knew, and it was a long time before he answered.
“It didn’t hurt,” said Harry resolutely, like he was deciding it right then and there.“It didn’t?”
“Quicker and easier than falling asleep.”)
When Remus Lupin took the Map from Harry, he sat there for hours, opening and reopening it wrong on purpose just to see the clever insults sprout on the paper. It was almost like his friends, alive and well, were talking to him for the first time in 12 years.
The day Molly Weasley dies, the first thing she sees is a girl with red hair sprinting toward her. She panics, thinking it might be Ginny, but she sees startling green eyes and knows who it is immediately. Lily Potter pulls Mrs. Weasley into a hug and in a choked voice, whispers, “Thank you.”
Harry memorized every name of the 50 Fallen after the war ends. The day he dies, old and surrounded by his children, he repeats their names in his head like a mantra and begs for their forgiveness.
Eleven years later, at Hogwarts, students fill a corridor filled with portraits of those who died in the Battle of Hogwarts. They look for Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and other famous faces, but there’s a blue-haired first year in their midst, trying desperately to remember what his parents had looked like.
James Potter lost both of his parents at once. The news was delivered to him by Professor McGonagall with Sirius by his side, but James was in denial. He kept insisting that she was lying, and it wasn’t until Sirius broke down into tears that James knew, and it broke him.
Crookshanks was the Potters family cat mentioned in sirius' letter and escaped godrics hollow after Halloween and managed to find the magical menagerie. He found hermione and stayed with her because harry was only allowed hedwig and Ron already had scabbers. This is why he was especially angry towards Ron, due to smelling his masters betrayer on him, and didn't run away from sirius’ grim form.
Hedwig was a guardian angel. Hedwig is smarter than most owls and other animals in the magical world, often appearing to harry when he needs to write a letter. Female snow owls like hedwig are mostly white but they have grey marks and spots on their back wings, hedwig is portrayed as a white male snowy owl. White as an angelic being perhaps Perhaps? Perhaps hedwig was sent by his parents as a guard and friend to him, its why hedwig didn't want anyone else adopting her.
Dementors come from the death eater who were thrown into the Veil. Ever wonder why the veil of death is barley used? After the souls escape to the after life the bodies of those who enter become husks of their former selves, hungry for souls. Unmasked before thrown in with only the cloaks on their backs.
Four years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Molly Weasley was busy preparing food for Ron’s birthday. She mistakenly barked to George, “Get that chicken out of the oven, Fred!” George silently whispered, “Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother?”
JK Rowling has revealed that Lily Potter was pregnant was her second child when she was killed. Even worse, she had convinced James to make Snape the godfather of the child.
At Luna’s wedding, the whole of the front seats were reserved. Harry went up to her at the end of service and asked, “Luna, who’s sitting there?” Luna smiled her usual smile and said, “Right. They did sit here in a spiritual way I suppose.” She pointed the seats one by one, “Right, that’s for my mother, those are for your parents, that one is for Sirius, that one is for Professor Lupin, that one is for Tonks, then Mad-Eye, then Fred Weasley, then Professor Dumbledore, and then Professor Snape. Right then, bye!” Harry had never felt so touched before.
The reason Bellatrix was so wretchedly insane and slavishly devoted to Voldemort was that she lived for the promise that one day, if she did enough, someone might say “I love you” back. I know that she doesn’t deserve this but for love… wow Bellatrix.
When Harry and Ginny went to search for a house to live in they found an apparently perfect house, Ginny loves it, but Harry rejects with a clear excuse about it being too big for them. Ginny doesn’t notice Harry’s fixed look on the Cupboard under the stairs.
Before the Horcrux hunt, Ron and Hermione decided, that if either of them had to choose between saving each other's lives or Harry’s, they had to choose Harry for the sake of the world. No matter how painful it would be for them to let go of each other.
Sirius and Remus saved memories for Harry. Remus left them for Harry in his will, when Harry got a hold of them he got to see a part of James he never got to see in Snape's memory.
After the battle of Hogwarts, Neville went to visit his parents to tell them about it. After he finished, his mother, who normally spoke nonsense, smiled and said one word: “Proud”
On November 3rd 1981, Sirius Black sat alone in a cell in Azkaban softly singing: “Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Sirius...” whilst tears streamed down his face, wishing he could go back in time.
Mr. and Mrs. Potter, James and Sirius were out in public together one sunny afternoon. The elderly couple was talking to someone with that someone asking, “Oh, are these your sons?” Sirius turned beet red and becoming utterly flustered. Mr. Potter simply smiled and says, “Yes, they are.” With Mrs. Potter nodding proudly in agreement. Never once did they think to reply in any other way.
Harry as a preschooler drew two blond blots and a big black blot with a little black one standing a bit further away beside them with “My Family” scratched over the top and presented it to Uncle Vernon who ripped it apart and threw it away right in front of him.
When Harry and Ginny were married they moved to a house in Godric’s Hollow. After Lily was born and got older, she would visit her grandmother and namesake's grave everyday and leave lilies.
Harry Potter died at the ripe age of 101 surrounded by his loved ones, when he opened his eyes again he returned to the place he parted from his old mentor many years ago, but it wasn't Albus Dumbledore who greeted him at the station this time around. Standing a few feet away from him where a young couple patiently waiting for the son they were ripped away from so long ago to take him home and Harry Potter, the boy who lived, went gladly.
After the war, Minerva McGonagall went into a spiral of depression. It was brought on by watching so many students grow and die before her eyes.
At Ginny’s wedding she danced with George twice so it would feel like she was dancing with Fred.
After the second Wizarding War, everyone who died was given a chocolate frog card. When Teddy Lupin was on the train going to his first year of Hogwarts, he got the cards that had his parents on them, and it was like they were sending him off themselves.
These made me cry when I read them, I just can't :(

Well while I wait for my motivation to keep writing to come back I'm gonna set up another project/idea I have. A Harry Potter fanfiction
Disclaimer- I do not support JK Rowling but I refuse to let her transphobia stop my ideas from forming and stop me enjoying fanfiction of Harry Potter
So. Here we go with my idea called:
A DIFFERENT MARAUDERS
In this universe there isn't just four Marauders but six. Two girls join the four boys in a mad group of pranking and jokes. Here's the little gang
1). James Potter
Tumblr media
James is a young pure blood wizard from a light-grey orientated family. He grew up being doted on and spoiled by his parents and has a positive, slightly naive outlook on life. His father is Charlus Harry Potter a well known and respected auror while his mother is Dorea Aries Potter nee Black a highly talented and celebrated potioneer. James arrives to Hogwarts ready to cause mayhem and have fun while learning what he can, making friends along the way
Name: James Charlus Potter
Species: Human
Blood status: Pure-Blood
Birthday: 27/03/1960
Animagus form: Stag
Marauder nickname: Prongs
Best subject: Transfiguration
Pet: Nimbus (Male black owl)
2). Sirius Black
Tumblr media
Sirius is a slightly older pure blood wizard from a notoriously dark family. Sirius has marked himself as the rebel, wanting nothing to do with his family's legacy and reputation. His father is Orion Scorpio Black a politician and his mother is Walburga Gemini Black. Both parents are bigots, hating anyone who isn't pure blood, pure human. Sirius is mostly unsupported at home but still carries a joking, devil-may-care attitude towards life and finds fun in pranks and jokes. Sirius does have three close family members that he loves. His uncle Alphard, his cousin Andromeda and his younger brother Regulus.
Name: Sirius Orion Black III
Species: Human
Blood status: Pure-Blood
Birthday: 03/11/1959
Animagus form: Dog
Marauder nickname: Padfoot
Best subject: Transfiguration
Pet: Apollo (Male tawny owl)
3). Remus Lupin
Tumblr media
Remus is a quiet but sarcastic half blood hiding a secret from his friends. Remus is a werewolf, bitten when he was only four years old. His father ia John Lyall Lupin, a creatures expert and his mother is Hope Isabella Lupin nee Hartman, a muggle doctor. Desperate to keep his friends but to hide his curse, Remus makes up stories for why he must disappear so frequently. Remus is the smartest of the Marauders -although the others definitely aren't stupid- and is frequently the brains behind their pranks. Remus found friends who would never desert him and later finds love with Sirius Black
Name: Remus John Lupin
Species: Werewolf
Blood status: Half-Blood
Birthday: 10/03/1960
Animagus form: N/A
Marauder nickname: Moony
Best subject: Defence Against the Dark Arts
Pet: Janus (Male eagle owl)
4). Peter Pettigrew
Tumblr media
Peter came to Hogwarts a shy, quiet, furtive pure blood boy, bullied at home by his neighbours, raised by his slightly neglectful mother and lacking confidence. Peter's father was Nathan Pettigrew a warder who had died before Peter was born, his mother was Beatrice Pettigrew a member of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office in The Ministry of Magic. Peter found friends at Hogwarts as a Marauder and valued the protection they gave him, despite not being as talented or as popular as the others
Name: Peter Patrick Pettigrew
Species: Human
Blood status: Pure-Blood
Birthday: 17/04/1960
Animagus form: Rat
Marauder nickname: Wormtail

5). Jasmine Evans
Tumblr media
Jasmine grew up in muggle England, raised by her muggle parents Michael Samuel Evans and Lilac Daisy Evans and raised alongside her older sister Petunia Rose Evans and her twin sister Lily Jade Evans. At a young age the twins discovered they had extraordinary powers. A local boy, Severus Snape explained to the girls that they had magical power and Lily quickly became his friend. Jasmine disliked the boy, feeling something off about him. Jasmine and Severus's mutual dislike of each drove a small bit of distance between the twins with Jasmine calling Snape "Snivellous". Jasmine made new friends at Hogwarts and became one of The Marauders alongside other housemates
Name: Jasmine Violet Evans
Species: Human
Blood status: Muggle-Born
Birthday: 30/01/1960

The youngest of her elven siblings and the only child on her human side, Makkari was raised mostly by her mother. At a young age Makkari discovered her elven affinity for healing magic and that she had inherited her human ancestral ability of being a metamorphmagus. Makkari came to Hogwarts ready to learn but also ready to have fun and would slip in easily with the other Marauders rounding it out to 6 people
Name: Makkari "Kari" Artemis Stark

Prompt: 17. Loneliness
A/N: We are getting closer to the end of Snapemas and I wanted to write something I haven't done earlier through this prompt list. Fair warning, it is a bit sad... But I feel like this is yet another subject to shine some light on. There are some cute/sweet parts too! (Written on mobile so the paragraphs are a bit wonky, sorry 'bout that!)
Setting: Christmas party at the Burrow, Snape is approximately 85-90 years old
Characters: MANY xD
Word count: 1814
Warnings: Major Character Death
Masterlist page // Masterlist post // SNAPEMAS POST
Tumblr media
After the war, so many years ago, Harry had told everyone of his exceptional work and dedication. He had been celebrated as a hero along with many others. He was acknowledged and people were not so frightened of him back then as they had been earlier. They nodded at him on the streets, the students had asked him to tell them stories more times than he could remember and he had made friends and amends.
Yet, none had found him to be of romantic interest. None had found him worthy of their time and love. None had found him to be partner material and he had never had a romantic relationship. One night stands, sure. But no relationship of mutual love, not a single person to share his life and home with. He had thought, he had hoped, that one day someone would find him worthy but it had never happened.
So there he was, sat in a wonky armchair surrounded by other families and everything brimmed with joy. Except he felt none. He was empty and sad, alone in the world. He knew all too well that once the party was over he would go back to his dusty home and silence would fall again. As it always did. He would cook for one, do laundry for one, clean only the spaces he used and the morning coffee would always be shipped in solitude. Not that it will continue for much longer, old as I am and my body giving way. He allowed the thought to linger. Sure, he could make potions, keep his health up and live to 150 probably. But what was the point of that?
"Severus, dinner is nearly ready. Shall I ask Ron to help you get seated?" It was Hermione who spoke to him with a soft smile on her lips as she marched over.
"I am quite alright to get seated on my own," he huffed with a slight sneer but Hermione only rolled her eyes.
"Everyone, it time to eat!" She called so loudly it could be heard all the way through the Burrow. Just as Molly's voice had once been heard even in the smallest of corners and highest of rooms.
"Come on now, up you get," she said and grabbed him with strong arms.
She marched him over to the table as his back ached terribly and his knees refused to function smoothly. She plopped him down and he sneered at her.
"There we go," she said with a smile as she patted his shoulder.
"Now, don't be a Grinch and smile." Severus could not help but do as he was told since it was nearly a tradition for her to utter those words. She gave his shoulder another pat as the table was swarmed by several generations and it was extremely cramped. But Hermione always made sure he had enough space, even if the newest generation always wanted to crawl all over him. Why? He had no idea. Perhaps all the stories their parents and grandparents had told them of the war, of his part in it.
"Granma' 'mione" Hermione turned at the little girl who stood next to her leg.
"What is it dearie?" The granddaughter of Harry and Ginny had clearly inherited her looks from the Weasley side of the family with her red sparkling hair and twinkling eyes of mischief.
"I wanna sit here," the girl said and pointed to the chair next to Severus. Hermione smiled.
"I think your father wants to sit here," she said and the little girl pouted while Hermione smiled so widely her eyes wrinkled even more.
"Bu' I wanna sit by Uncle Sevy!" She stomped her foot with an angry expression and Hermione sighed.
After a while, and some bickering about who would sit where, everyone had a place in the recently remodelled and extended dining hall of the Burrow. Hermione had done a great deal to fix up the place as she and Ron were the only ones who wanted the place when Molly and Arthur had passed away from old age. Severus had helped with some magical binding spells and such but he had not been able to do much as his body did not age well. Hermione always said it was because he didn't allow enough joy and exercise in his life and he always huffed at the words. But lately, lately everyone had seemed more worried about him and comments like that had stopped coming. He suspected it was because he was truly old and brittle now.
"Well go ask-"
"Of course you shall sit by my side you little trickster," Severus said with a thunderous voice and the girl beamed at him before she quickly crawled up on the chair and Hermione simply scooted her in closer to the table as Albus came in.
"That's my seat!" He said and he played the shocked parent role as his daughter laughed on a giggle.
"Uncle Sevy said I get so sit with him," she giggled with a proud expression and Albus shook his head in defeat as his daughter, being merely 5 years old, was as headstrong as any child could possibly be.
"There is room for everyone," Hermione chided and Albus took the seat next to his daughter as the chair on the other side of Severus had already been claimed by the grandchild of Hermione and Ron, one of Hugo's daughters. Little Mary. She was a quiet child, as in she did not speak unless it was an absolute necessity, but very attentive and brilliant in her own way.
The chaos of Christmas dinner ensued after some thanks had been said for everyone's attendance, and the children begged for their gifts to be delivered after dinner. Hermione, the boss of them all, had shut it down with a few chosen words. So they all started to eat, talk and laugh again. The house was truly filled to the brim with them all. Three generations, four if you counted Severus as a separate one, which surely made sense?
The food was delightful, the children as well. The adults were in the middle of various conversations while helping the little ones. Severus kept a close eye on the two little ones closest to him and helped them as much as he could while Albus's daughter blabbered about gifts, school and the new pyjamas her mom had given her a week earlier - apparently, it had reindeer on it and that was obviously very important to tell him. On his other side sat Hugo's daughter in silence for a long time as she gently ate and listened to the conversations around her. She was also 5 years old and yet she seemed very different from the rest of the children. Less out there and more closed of. Severus found himself to be very attentive to her, even when the other children and adults called for his attention he still had her under his gaze.
Once the table was cleared and the squadron of Weasleys and Weasley-related people had moved out to the living room while the Potters and Potter-related people trailed after Severus was still sat by the table. He was looking out the window as snow fell silently in tiny little glittering flakes. Someone tugged on his sleeve. Hugo's daughter, Marry, wanted his attention. He glanced down at her.
"Yes?" His tone was as gruff as always yet there was a hint of a surprise in there somewhere. Mary looked intently at him, unflinching and unwavering.
"Can I sit?" She pointed to his lap and Severus opened his arms so the girl could climb up into his lap. It was an odd feeling. Not that the children didn't do it, even the previous generation had wanted to sit in his lap - well that time it was harder to accept but eventually, he had learnt to deal with having children crawl all over him. No this was an odd feeling as Mary never wanted to sit in a lap, be hugged or held in any way. She wanted no physical contact with others when it wasn't on her terms. And everyone respected that (even though he knew it hurt her mother deeply). But she snuggled into him, her knees raised as she leaned her side into his chest and he wrapped his arms around her gently. They both looked out the window in silence for a moment.
"Does it hurt?" she asked and Severus arched a brow at her. He was still rather good at that.
"Does what hurt?" he asked and the girl ever so slightly tilted her head.
"Life." Severus gawked at the girl. His mouth slightly open as that was in no way a question someone so young should ask.
"I saw it," she whispered, "the hurt, the bad people." Mary fidgeted with her fingers as she looked down.
"You saw it? Severus asked and she nodded silently.
"Would you like to tell me?" he asked and she nodded again.
"What did you see?" He asked and she peaked up at him.
"I see all kinds of things," she said softly, " some good, some bad, some make me sad. Like you. When I see things from you it makes me sad. You seem sad. It hurts," she said and Severus was quite surprised at how well-spoken she was for her age - and the fact she barely talked.
"Is that so?" She nodded at his words. He gave her a small smile.
"Well, you see Mary, life is difficult. Life is hard. But it is also beautiful," he said as he struggled to find words the little child could understand and also not to tell her too much.
"There are good people and bad people, there is love and hate. Some choose the wrong path and end up at the wrong place," he continued as they both yet again looked out the window.
"I don't understand. You are good but your life was bad? Wasn't it?" Her direct words cut through him harshly yet he smiled as she called him good. Children, unlike adults, said what they thought and felt. No filtering. Just honesty.
"True, my life was not easy-"
"And grandpa's pa was mean to you. But you like grandpa? You protected him? I don't understand." Severus stiffened, how do you know that?
"Mary, can I ask, what exactly do you see?"
"Well, I-" a burst of loud laughter broke through their little bubble and Mary jump a little as she grabbed on to Severus.
She relaxed again, "well I see what has happened, what might happen too. Sometimes it's really clear but sometimes it's hard to see. It's, foggy. I think that is the things that might happen."
"I think you're right," Severus murmured. Maybe she's a seer?
"Have you talked to your parents?" Mary shook her head, "Is this why you don't want to be touched?" Mary nodded, "do you see things about people more often when they touch you?" he continued in a steady, unwavering rhythm of his thunderous yet low voice. Mary nodded again.
"I see."
"That's my line," Mary said with an attempt at a smile. Severus smiled and gave her leg a little pat.
Yet, a thought occurred to him.
"May I ask, why you are willing to sit with me?" Mary tensed ever so slightly.
"Do you want to know?" Severus nodded sharply. He did indeed want to know even though he had a hunch.
"I don't see more foggy things from you and it feels, feels different. Feels like there is no more." Severus sighed, he understood her words. He had felt life slip away the past year as well.
"And the bad stuff, there is not so much bad left in them. Have you, hrm... I don't know the word."
"Accepted them and moved passed it?" Mary nodded that that was what she meant, "I believe so, I believe I've come to terms with those things in the past."
"But not the loneliness, I see it. The empty house. The coffee cup." Severus sighed at that.
After a moment of silence where Mary curled up even more and leaned her head against his chest that rose and sunk with every breath.
"I'm gonna miss you," she said in a hushed whisper. He gently stroked the top of her head, a coldness spread through him as the realisation truly hit him. He was nearing the end of what was his life. And who knew what waited beyond the border between eh living and dead; certainly not he.
"I will miss you as well. But I won't go far," he said softly and she chuckled ever so slightly.
"You shake when you talk uncle Sevy," she said, "it feels nice."
"Well, I have a deep voice. It happens," Severus said with a tired yet warm smile as he relaxed with her in his lap.
"It's nice," Mary whispered and after a moment he felt her body grow heavy as she silently fell asleep cradled in his arms.
It took several minutes before Hermione appeared in the doorway, just outside of Severus view as he was watching the snowfall outside still. She silently beckoned Ron, Hugo and Hugo's wife Ellie to come over. She pointed towards Severus and little Marry who was slumbering deeply. They all had wide smiles over their lips as they watched the scene.
"She's, she's in his arms," Ellie whispered on a suffocated sob. Hugo hugged his wife gently as tears gleamed in his eyes as well. Hermione stepped over as silently as she could.
"I'll take her," she whispered and Severus arched a brow at her.
"She's fine here," he said as he actually did not want to let the little girl go. Not for his sake, no, but for her sake. Little Mary, who never got human contact without an ensuing anxiety attack or crying. Little Mary, only five years old, who had to see things none should. Not only the one life she lived but everyone else's as well. He held her softly and Hermione nodded.
"I'll check on you in a moment," she said and he nodded ever so slightly. Hermione left and took the rest of the crowd that had gathered with her before she closed the door and left Severus in solitude with the sleeping child cradled ever so gently in his embrace.
When Hermione came back over an hour later Mary was sleeping even deeper. Her little hand splayed over Severus's chest and her head slightly tilted where it rested against his arm. she was heavy ad his legs had fallen asleep but he did not mind, no he did not mind one bit as Mary had a tiny smile on her lips as she slept peacefully.
"Should we put her to bed?" Hermione whispered and Severus nodded with a small smile. It was indeed time to let go. Hermione skillfully snuck her arms in under Mary, but the little girl stopped smiling instantly. Hermione swiftly walked out with the little girl as Hugo entered the room with Ellie in tow.
"Thank you," Ellie whispered as she silently cried tears of joy.
"How did you manage to get her to sit in your lap? Please, tell us," Hugo said and Severus gave the couple a tired smile.
"She asked, I obliged," he simply stated. They looked a bit confused at that. But Severus ignored it.
"You have a gifted daughter," he said, "and I do not mean that in the general spew people cast about when it comes to children. I truly mean, she is gifted. You ought to speak with her, and get help." This seemed to both concern and confuse the couple. Severus allowed his gaze to glide over to the window. An old man's pleasure, to look at the world outside.
"What, what do you mean, Severus?" Hugo asked as he crouched beside him.
"She's a seer," he simply stated.
"A, a seer?" Ellie asked as she sat down on a chair next to Severus.
"Indeed, and physical contact gives her more visions. visions of the past, the present, the future. It's all quite much for suck a young girl. You ought to get her help, allow her to explore and train her ability before it hurts her even more," Severus said and he did try his hardest to do so in a gentle way.
"She told you?" Severus nodded at Hugo's words.
"She, she never told us she, we just thought she, was special. Had special needs..." Ellie sobbed and Hugo looked as if he was devising a plan. Severus did not really concern himself with it as he knew he would not be here long enough to see what happened. He had felt it, and with Mary's words, he knew it. It was all ending.
Once Harry had dropped Severus off at his home and apparated back to the Burrow Severus sagged in the hallway. He was exhausted and he felt as if he could sleep for weeks. It was indeed a struggle to just undress and get ready for bed. But once he was properly tucked in while wearing his most comfortable nightshirt he slowly drifted off to the world of dreams. Little Mary's smiling face greeted him and she took his hand in hers. It was warm and soft, gentle as she tugged him through a field of sunflowers that echoed with children's laughter and the softest of music lingered in the wind.
The living room was filled with talk about Mary as Severus felt himself grow even more tired.
"Severus, would you like Harry to take you home?" Ginny asked with a gentle smile as she walked up to him.
"I presume that would be in order," Severus said and Ginny immediately told Harry who got dressed in coat and boots as Ginny helped Severus get dressed. He felt such disgrace at being such an ordeal but Ginny kept telling him it was no trouble and that they loved to have him with them. He could not fathom why and did not dare to question it as that might have changed their minds. They were, after all, the closest thing he had to a family. How it came about he still could not quite understand but it had happened at another Christmas party many years ago.
His breathing slowed as he found peace. His heart stopped beating as he felt warmth and joy spread through his younger body in the world of dreams and love. His soul drifted away, led by Mary's sweet smile as she called for him to come home and be free. All that was him left the world of the living and his body that still had a face etched with a soft smile. As he stepped over the border and embraced eternity Mary let go of his hand. And he knew, knew he would see her again, in many years when she was old and wise. When she had lived her life he would great her with a smile as he was no longer lonely and cold.

Uffh, this hurt to write but at the same time, I really wanted to try my hand at this kind of sorrow and joy... This older version of Severus, this lonely version who never got a chance at love in life. but who still managed to find joy and peace in the end.
I hope you guys liked this despite it being dark/sad and different <3

Severus Snape in HP 1 - Full Commentary
Hello folks, here are most of what I commented about Snape. Sometimes it’s just a personal thought, a little anecdote, sometimes it deals about the problematics the character of Snape rises. Don’t worry though, key comments on his character will have their own separate post. I won’t quote everytime he gets mentioned, and sometimes I’ll quote passages where he’s not mentioned but he makes me think of him.
The model is like this: The points starts with a quote from the book - certain words will be put in bold - and the quote is followed with commentary. It follows chronological order. Every time a new commentary appears, the next quote will have its own bullet; and if there’s no commentary or if the transcript isn’t cut, the text will be warped. I tried to use bigger quotes in case we need to understand the context in which the quote is used, but because I don’t want my file to be too heavy, I won’t use introduction to the scene. Sorry, I’m not really here to explain what happened in HP1, though I will precise the chapters involved.
Comments are in parenthesis and I haven’t used the “” for the dialogue, but please don’t judge, it’s really tiring and I wanted to spend my energy on commenting rather than perfecting the transcripts.
As usual I don’t see much problems with what I’ve written now but when I’ll post I might modify things so... don’t judge too hard in the beginning. Maybe I’ll perfect the commentary? If I can, I’ll use a link for the PDF version of what I’ve written, I just need to know where I can publish the PDF...
Beware, it is very very long. I have completed 16 pages (12k words). So take a seat and... well, I hope you’ll enjoy.
Chp 1 - The Boy Who Lived
·          Albus Dumbledore didn’t seem  to realize that he had just arrived in a street where everything from his name to his boots was  unwelcome. (There are lots of passages like these that make me think of Snape  and that can hint to what his life as a child could have been. For instance,  his name is Severus and could have aroused mockery.)
Chp 2 – The Vanishing  Glass
Chp 3 – The Letters  from No One
·          They stuff people’s heads  down the toilet first day at Stonewall.
·          Smetling boys […] also  carried knobbly sticks, used for hitting each other while the teachers  weren’t looking. This was supposed to be good training for later life.
·          Uncle Vernon stopped at last outside a gloomy-looking hotel on the  outskirts of a big city. Dudley and Harry shared a room with twin beds  and damp, musty sheets. Dudley snored but Harry stayed awake, sitting  on the window-sill, staring down at the lights of passing cars and  wondering...
They ate stale cornflakes and cold tinned  tomatoes on toast for breakfast next day. They had just finished  when the owner of the hotel came over to their table.
‘‘Scuse me, but is one of you Mr H. Potter?  Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk.’
She held up a letter so they could read the  green ink address:
Mr H. Potter, Room 17, Railview Hotel,  Cokeworth.
Harry made a grab for the letter but Uncle  Vernon knocked his hand out of the way. The woman stared.
‘I’ll take them,’ said Uncle Vernon, standing  up quickly and following her for the dining room. (See my post about the Durlseys: Snape and Lily lived in Cokeworth.)
Chp 4 – The Keeper of  Keys
·          This wizard, about twenty years ago now, started lookin’ fer followers. Got ‘em too – some were afraid, some just wanted a bit o’ his power,  ‘cause he was gettin’ himself power, all right. Dark days, Harry. Didn’t know  who ter trust, didn’t dare get friendly with strange wizards or witches…  Terrible things happened. He was  takin’ over. (I guess that’s where the idea that Snape joined then  defected the winning side come from.)
·          Now, yer mum an’ dad were as  good a witch an’ wizard as I ever knew. Head  Boy an’ Girl at Hogwarts in their days! Suppose the myst’ry is why You-Know-Who never tried to get them on  his side before… probably knew they  were too close ter Dumbledore ter want anythin’ to do with the Dark Side.  Maybe he thought he could persuade  ‘em… maybe he just wanted ‘em outta  the way. (Several ideas here. First, as I take care to precise to people,  James somehow became Head Boy despite his bullying attitude and past illegal  activities, and this interest in him can be explained by how close his family  was to Dumbledore. Second, Hagrid says that it was common for Voldemort to  try and have people join him. Why is it a mystery though that he didn’t try that  with a widely known anti-Voldemort/anti-Slytherin Potter and a Muggle-Born?  Could Voldemort hire Muggle-Borns? Third, here Hagrid says that Voldemort  came for the family, the parents, that Harry himself. Later it will be  deduced that he came for Harry first… although the prospect of defeating  those who defied him thrice would be tempting on its own. Does this mean  though that if they hadn’t been close enough to Dumbledore, Voldemort would  have asked them sooner if they wanted to join him, while Severus was there?  What did Snape think about this, if he came to learn that?)
·          Knew yer mum an’ dad, an’ nicer people you couldn’t find.  (Hagrid idealizes Harry’s parents. After all, it’s hard to speak of the dead.  It is sad that the books don’t end with the idea that parents, or the family,  don’t need to be perfect. However, I’m still surprised Hagrid wouldn’t come  to say “Nicer people you couldn’t find” when he’d been a gamekeeper during  Snape’s scholarity.)
Chp 5 – Diagon Alley
·          Harry suddenly realized that  the tape measure, which was measuring between  his nostrils, was doing this on its own. (OOooooooo Snape)
Chp 6 – The Journey  from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters
Chp 7 – The Sorting  Hat
·          Professor Quirell, in his  absurd turban, was talking to a teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked  nose and sallow skin. (First  description. Snape is already coded Jewish/Semite. In fact I would argue that  Snape incarnated the male version of the cliché ugly witches brewing potions,  with their absurd big noses, wicked smiles, black hair, weird skin, crooked  teeth and ugliness. Just look at images of wicked witches on Google. (I have images on my Word file but I can’t post them here, oopsie)
God this is  cruel. To think that Snape did fly on a broom, and that Boggart Snape is  forced into ridiculous women clothing… Meanwhile you have the cliché of the  sexy witches, ie Lily and Ginny (just look on the Internet).
(There’s an image of a red-haired witch on a broom with a cat: The Potters  had a cat, I think it came from Lily.)
I think that  before they would demonize red-haired because of their association with  witches in England. Even now we hear things like “red-haired have no soul”,  “they smell”, etc. But am I the only one finding this weird? Hasn’t Rowling  used and mixed clichés of wizards and witches?
·          Harry watched Snape for a  while but Snape didn’t look at him  again. (There are lots of passages where Harry stare at him but Snape  quits looking back, like at the end of GoF or the first Defence class of HBP.)
·          Perhaps Harry had eaten a bit  too much, because he had a very strange dream. He was wearing Professor  Quirell’s turban, which kept talking to him, telling him he must transfer to  Slytherin at once, because it was his  destiny. Harry told the turban he didn’t want to be in Slytherin; it got  heavier and heavier; he tried to pull it off but it tightened painfully – and  there was Malfoy, laughing at him as he struggles with it – then Malfoy turned into the hook-nosed  teacher, Snape, whose laugh became high and cold – there was a burst of  green light and Harry woke, sweating and shaking. (What does this dream even  mean? Why is Harry having this dream though? Is it a way to make the reader  suspect that Malfoy and Snape are bad people? To implent the idea that Snape  will try to kill Harry?)
Chp 8 – The Potions  Master
·          The Potions lesson turned out  to be the worst thing that had happened to him so far.
Snape, like Flitwick, started the class by  taking the register, and like Flitwick,  he paused at Harry’s name.
His eyes were  black like Hagrid’s, but they had  none of Hagrid’s warmth. They were cold and empty and made you think  of dark tunnels. (I love this metaphor. But the idea that his eyes were  empty is… interesting. Often eyes are said to be empty when someone doesn’t  feel anything anymore, often because of trauma; later we will learn that  Snape can indeed use Occlumency to empty his mind. Empty eyes can also refer  to how he is apathetic, which suits him well. All in all, eyes described as  empty in a work make me think that the person has suffered a lot, or that  they are born a little… uncommon. They are, also with bad-grooming, symbols  of depression and suicide. Have an example of what I imagine:Please check Anime Empty/Blank Eyes on Google)
·          Like Professor McGonagall, Snape had  the gift of keeping a class silent without effort. (A lot of comparisons with  other teachers/adults… Maybe he learned from them? Anyway, if he does things  like McGonagall and Flitwick, then it’s no wonder to think his teaching  habits were in the norm.)
·          A bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach. (Lorrie Kim says that it’s a way to draw attention and make the  students want to prove they’re not a dunderhead, in other words, make them  interested in Potions. And it works on Hermione)
·          Potter! Said Snape suddenly. (It’s  sudden and contrasts with his previous speech… no ‘Mr’ Potter.)
·          Snape’s lips curled into a  sneer. Tut, tut – fame clearly isn’t everything. (I  think he clicks his tongue behind his teeth to make that sound. Why does he  need to belittle Harry though? Because of his spying role? Because he thinks  Harry thrives in popularity, as he’ll tell Dumbledore later: “delighted to find  himself famous”, thus proving he’s delusional? Or just out of spite?)
·          Thought you wouldn’t open a book before coming, eh, Potter? (But he did, Snape. He did.)
·          Harry forced himself to keep looking straight into those cold  eyes. (He does this several times in the series)
·          He had looked through his  books at the Dursleys’, but did Snape expect him to remember everything in One  Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi? (Why is Harry thinking about how he  didn’t learn One Thousand Magical Herbs  and Fungi, instead of Magical  Drafts and Potions? Isn’t that a tactic from the narrator to empathize on  how impossible to learn “one thousand” things in one month and how what Snape  is asking is impossible, thus unfair? Isn’t it a bit cheap? Is it allowed and  required in Hogwarts that students read their books in preparation for the  following year? I don’t think so, but I know it was done in ancient schools.  Anyway… those questions are pretty obviously asked to call Harry stupid.)
·          At this, Hermione stood up, her hand stretching towards  the dungeon ceiling. (Hermione can’t control herself. Imagine standing up just to answer a question.  The fuck?)
·          I don’t know, said Harry  quietly. I think Hermione does, though, why don’t you try her?
A few people laughed;  Harry caught Seamus’ eye and Seamus  winked. Snape, however, was not pleased. (In HBP Seamus is also glad that  Harry cheeks Snape. Snape’s plan to humiliate Harry backfired. But hey, you  can only blame yourself.)
·          And a point will be taken from Gryffindor house for your cheek,  Potter. (You provoked him, sweetie, and you had no right technically. Notice  how it’s only one point. What hurts  is not the amount of points retrieved but what it means: Snape has  antagonized Harry from the first lesson, and he’s very capable of finding  reasons to punish him if he wants. I wonder what would have happened if Harry  hadn’t cheeked him back?)
·          Things didn’t improve for the Gryffindors as the Potions  lesson continued. (Harry isn’t the whole Gryff house, but since the  punishments by points are meant to be collective, it affects the house… However  I think it’s also a sign of how the narrator is quick to say Snape is unfair  to Gryffindors in general, from Harry’s point of view, and not ‘just’ Harry.)
·          Snape put them all into pairs and set them to mixing up a simple potion to cure boils. (Boils  from touching a cauldron… boils from Furnunculus, or fires in the chimneys…  Also Snape puts first years into pairs. In third year I think he starts to  separate them. I’m not sure.)
·          He swept around in his long  black cloak, watching them weigh dried  nettles and crush snake fangs, criticizing  almost everyone except Malfoy, whom he seemed to like. (1) Snape’s first  class uses dried nettles and Snape’s riddle involves nettle wine because he’s  a character inspired from John Nettleship. Snape’s totem plant is a nettle –  and alright, asphodel, wormwood and aconite. 2) I think there too, the  narrator is quick on antagonizing Snape. The text implies that he does  criticize his Slytherins as well – although it’s not explicitly said – and  just not Malfoy. Does Draco already have a talent/knowledge in Potions that’d  justify the lack of criticism other than being favouritism? Maybe that’s  because he does succeed really well. Malfoy had broom lessons, surely he had  Potions ones as well, from Snape or someone else. The difference here? The  book won’t say that complimenting Hermione the most is bordering on favouritism,  because you know, “she deserves it” – although she also was introduced as “a nightmare” – but will precise that when  Snape compliments Draco, he seemed to  like him and, in our minds, it draws the conclusion it’s for this reason  alone that he’s congratulating him. In other words, the text wants us to believe  that Draco doesn’t deserve  compliments. What we know however is that the book tends to judge characters  based on how they’re presented to Harry rather than from an objective point  of view – for instance, Hagrid “punishes” Dudley and we are supposed to find  it fair as he was a bully, when an objective point of view will show that  since Hagrid couldn’t know Dudley was a bully but could just assume that a “fat  Muggle” was to be insulted – Dudley didn’t try to eat the cake in the books –  what he did in attacking Duldley and trying to turn him into a pig is  actually a horrible scene (see critic about Hagrid); McGonagall only  retrieves 5 points from Hermione, and we suppose it’s fair because she didn’t  actually try to beat the troll, but when we consider that McGonagall punished  her with 50 points for being out of curfew out-of-bounds later, we can  conclude that McGonagall punishes near-suicide and disobedience 10 times less  than a nighttime stroll – meaning she’s inconsistent/illogical in her  punishments. Here, Draco is introduced as a bully and undeserving of love or  compliments because of that… except  that objectively, if he does his potion well, then he has the right to be  complimented without it being implied to be favouritism. 3) The text also  implies Snape criticized Hermione, but is it really unjustified? We don’t  know. Hermione has been proven to have difficulties with a practical use of  magic – riding a broomstick, repelling the Devil’s Snare, defeating her  Boggart – maybe at first she had difficulties in brewing Potions. That’s not  something she could have learned at home or in books. It’d be logical she  learned how to brew better throughout the months. 4) Hermione is complimented  by her teachers too – in HP1 alone we have McGonagall twice and Flitwick  doing just that before Harry and Ron become friends with her – the difference  is that Snape will compliment others  than the best of the class. Though is that such a bad thing in itself? I  remember that good teachers were those who didn’t focus on the gifted only. 5) And you know what it makes me think of? There’s an essay about John Nettleship that explains he could be mistakenly perceived as favouring the gifted because he was passionate in his job and had the tendency to show appreciation to those showing real involvement. Meanwhile, JK Rowling didn’t participate much – she hated Chemistry, she didn’t seem to succeed, thus why she chose a Potions Master to be the bad teacher. We have two elements. First Netlleship was said to try and make participate people with difficulties, like Rowling, but because she often “didn’t know” the answer, she might have felt pressured or ridiculed purposefully by her teacher – in the books, Harry is asked questions he can’t possibly answer, since he “can’t remember everything”, and Neville gets pressured. At the same time, Hermione, Rowling’s self-insert, is said to try and participate but getting ignored by Snape, who prefers to compliment other people. Maybe this is an aspect of how Rowling perceived favouritism in Nettleship? )
·          He was just telling everyone  to look at the perfect way Malfoy  had stewed his horned slugs. (Jealous much, Harry? McGonagall had just done  the same for Hermione’s needle! In third year she’ll compare Hermione to  Seamus to prove he’d better take an example on her. I don’t remember the  quote well, but I do know that comparing students like that is not that  healthy…)
·          When clouds of acid green  smoke and a loud hissing gilled the dungeon. Neville had somehow managed to  melt Seamus’ cauldron into a twisted blob and their potion was seeping across  the stone floor, burning holes in  people’s shoes. Within seconds, the whole class were standing on their  stools while Neville, who had been drenched in the potion when the cauldron  collapsed, moaned in pain as angry red  boils sprang up all over his arms and legs.
Idiot boy!  Snarled Snape, clearing the spilled potion away with one wave of his wand. I  suppose you added the porcupine quills before taking the cauldron off the  fire? (When Snape is stressed he gets angry.)
Neville whimpered as boils started to pop up all over his nose.
Take him up  to the hospital wing, Snape spat at Seamus.  (Contrary to Hooch, Snape takes care to ask for the other member of the pair,  aka a student, to bring Neville to the hospital. Thus Snape won’t leave his  class in a room full of potions that can explode and cauldrons that can burn.  However… why didn’t you have a cure for boils to help Neville if you are  specifically in a class where students can burn themselves because of the  potions, the fire and the cauldrons? There are lots of problems in a school  such as Hogwarts, especially concerning Potions courses from what I’ve seen  in HP1, but even that should have been accessible to you.)
·          I’ve heard Snape can turn  very nasty. (A precision. Snape isn’t ‘always nasty’. He can turn nasty if we go too far.)
·          Snape’s always taking points  off Fred and George. (Not  surprising though, they keep doing pranks and breaking rules.)
·          Snape hasn’t taken any points  from students other than the two from Harry. Is that what we call an  unforgiving absolute bully? If he had been, he’d have retrieved more than 2  points and would have bullied other Gryffindors. He hasn’t.
·          Hagrid, like Ron, told Harry not  to worry about it, that Snape  liked hardly any of the students. (We have two elements. 1) People  reassure Harry in saying that what Snape does is not to worry about; they  don’t see the problem right away. Hagrid,  the adult Harry trusts the most for now, is the first to quite dismiss  Harry’s concerns, and not do something about it; maybe it broke Harry’s  belief that adults would speak with Snape so he wouldn’t do that. People  close to Harry downplay this behavior… which is something that can be done  casually in school, and if it can help some people, it can also send the  message that the teacher will be defended/excused for their bullying. 2) They  do compare Harry with other students, but Harry isn’t a student like any  other. So there are two possibilities: either Snape doesn’t treat Harry  differently than others, despite his genuine hate against him, and thus  implies that what he does against Harry actually isn’t caused by hate, which  would be a little surprising considering how the book present things, but  which corresponds to how Snape will say to the Minister that he tries to  treat all of his students fairly, including Harry – interestingly we can  imagine that Fudge is right when he says that everybody has a soft spot for  Harry, which is shown regularly in the books, meaning Harry can get used to  special treatment, and by consequence, when Snape does something right but  that doesn’t please Harry because he expected favouritism even unconsciously,  Snape will be called unfair unfairly; or  Snape does treat Harry differently and this implies that he treats other  students in a kinder manner, despite “hardly liking” any of them, which would  be logical and good but a little weird as Snape is described as generally  being in a bad mood.)
·          But he seemed to really hate me.
Rubbish! Said Hagrid. Why should he?
Yet Harry couldn’t help thinking that Hagrid didn’t quite meet his eyes when he  said that.
Harry wondered if Hagrid had changed the subject on purpose. (Acceptation  of Snape’s behaviour? Either way Hagrid is the one that quite says Harry is  mistaken/lies about how wrong what Snape did was. And did Hagrid know  something about Snape that he didn’t want to tell Harry? For instance, does  he know that Snape was badly treated by the Marauders? Does he think that  Snape kind of “deserves” to have his way, or that it’s understandable and he  draws the conclusion that it’s excusable? It’s Hagrid, folks.)
·          Had Hagrid collected that  package just in time? Where was it now? And  did Hagrid know something about Snape that he didn’t want to tell Harry?  (Suspicion about the Stone starts from there.)
Chp 9
·          You’re a lot braver now you’re back on the ground  and you’ve got your little friends  with you, said Harry coolly. (And doesn’t that remind us of some  particular gang? Harry has common points with Snape: “[Coward?] Your father  would never attack me unless it was four-on-one, what would you call that, I  wonder?”)
Chp 10 – The Midnight  Duel
·          Oh, well done! Cried Professor Flitwick,  clapping. Everyone see here, Miss  Granger’s done it! (Same thing than McGonagall, but when Snape  congratulates Malfoy it’s favouritism you know)
·          Perhaps it was because he was now so busy, what with Quidditch  practice three evenings a week on top of all his homework, but Harry could hardly believe it when he  realised that he’d already been at Hogwarts two months. (So that’s where  I start to draw a theory: Harry has spent two months in Hogwarts and it seems  quick. Usually it happens when you spend a really good time. But if Snape  really was unbearable, why don’t we hear anything else than what happened in  the first lesson? Why isn’t he said to have done something meanwhile,  although he probably heard, like Flitwick, that Harry has been given special  treatment with being allowed to play Quidditch as a first-year and being  given the best broom of the time? My theory is that Snape… remained cool. For  that, I have listed all the times Harry is punished by Snape or feels he gets  bullied, along with the context. You’ll see something interesting in the end.)
·          A moment later, Professor  McGonagall had come bursting into the room, closely followed by Snape, with Quirell bringing up the rear.  (BROTP)
·          Snape bent over the troll. Professor McGonagall was looking at Ron and  Harry. Harry had never seen her looks so angry. Her lips were white.
“What on earth were you thinking of?” said  Professor McGonagall, with a cold fury  in her voice. Harry looked at Ron, who was stills tanding with his wand in  the air. “You’re lucky you weren’t killed. Why aren’t you in your dormitory?” (McGonagall shares the same  traits as Snape when she’s angry: lips become white, her fury is cold. They  are that similar.)
·          Snape gave Harry a swift, piercing  look. Harry looked at the floor. He wished Ron would put his  wand down. (Interesting. Snape doesn’t pay attention to Harry until he  hears that he wasn’t in his dormitory, which prompt Snape to give Harry a  piercing look, which can be seen as attempt in Legilimency, or a move of  anger at knowing that Harry/James’ son already proves not to follow rules and  to leave the dormitory when he feels like it. The difference in this scene…  is that it’s McGonagall who makes the accusation. Harry does seem to feel  guilty and ashamed. Later, when Snape accuses Harry of the same things, like  going to Hogsmeade illegally in PoA, Harry won’t listen, won’t admit anything  and will become angry against Snape. Let’s list what Harry has done wrong  during all those years though, shall we? How he’s punished, by whom, what’s  his reaction.)
·          I went looking for the troll because I – I thought I could deal with  it on my own – you know, because I’ve read all about them.
·          It was as if Snape had  started handing out sweets. (Funny  image. However I suspect something else. Snape has seen Hermione outright  standing up to answer to his question, and now he might believe that Hermione  was so arrogant she felt like fighting the troll on her own. Will this  explain their animosity, if there is a big one?)
Chp 11 – Hallowe’en
·          They were standing with their backs to [the bluebell fire lamp], getting warm, when Snape crossed the  yard. Harry noticed at once that Snape was limping. Harry, Ron and Hermione  moved closer together to block the fire from view; they were sure it wouldn’t be allowed. (Why? Also best way to  attract attention.)
·          Unfortunately, something about  their guilty faces caught Snape’s eye. He limped over. He hadn’t seen the  fire, but he seemed to be looking for  a reason to tell them off anyway. (The Trio looks guilty, so Snape comes  to see what they surely did wrong. But just after the narrative says that  Snape will be looking for “a” reason to tell them off “anyway” – in short,  Snape is looking for an excuse to punish them. The switching between the Trio  thinking they did wrong and Snape looking what they do, and Snape  purposefully looking for a reason to punish them, is instantaneous and barely  visible. What is the strongest idea you will retain however? “Looking for a  reason to tell them off anyway.” You barely have Snape’s point of view, but  mainly Harry’s opinion.)
·          Library books are not to be taken outside the school, said Snape. Give  it to me. Five points from Gryffindor.
He’s just made that  rule up, Harry  muttered angrily as Snape limped away. Wonder what’s wrong with his leg? (1) Oh,  are you really truthful Harry? Aren’t you the one inventing the fact Snape  has invented a rule? After all, there ARE books in libraries that shouldn’t  be taken outside on the grounds; there even are some which can’t be taken out  of the library. Don’t you get a pass from the librarian when borrowing one?  If you did, you should have shown it to Snape. 2) I think we touch something  important. When I’ve been completing the excel sheet about Harry’s  wrongdoings and the punishments he received, I have created a column named “Usual  protocol”, which is based on either Hogwarts’ clearly stated rules or how  professors would deal with such actions and punish similar offenses. I have  found something obvious… but very important: we don’t know all of Hogwarts’  rules. Hogwarts is quite a unique school, we can’t always apply our own rules  to it. Because Harry – and the reader – doesn’t know the rules, we cannot  always know whether Harry has effectively broken a rule, how serious the  wrongdoing was, what punishment should be associated with it. Meaning that we  can only base our theories on the professors. And here comes the problem: the  (un)fairness of a professor’s punishment cannot be appropriately judged based  on their kindness or how much the narrator likes them. Which is precisely  what the books seem to do. To know if what Snape has done is unfair, we constantly have to take distance from  Harry’s many, many biased words and  suggestions and lack of info and misdirection – like the “for no reason at  all” concerning the penalty for the Puffs – to wonder if Snape’s punishment  truly is wrong… and if Snape really just wanted to “find excuses”. The book  is an example of how difficult and sometimes impossible it is: because sometimes  we don’t know the rules of Hogwarts, and often we don’t know the punishments  they deserve, we cannot truly know if, as Harry says, Snape just “made that  rule up”, if he abuses the punishment… or if it is the complete opposite.)
·          Dunno, but I hope it’s really  hurting him, said Ron bitterly.  (Harry seems to understand Snape badly; but it seems to apply the other way  around as well: Snape might get a wrong idea of Harry and  misunderstand/misinterpret him. Ron & Quirell relish in Snape’s pain of  having his leg mangled.)
·          He wanted Quidditch Through the Ages  back, to take his mind off his nerves about tomorrow. Why should he be afraid of Snape? (Ah, indeed. Harry tries to get  rational.)
·          Rather you than me, they said together, but Harry had an idea that Snape wouldn’t refuse if there were other  teachers listening. (So either teachers are close to Snape, or it’s just  Harry’s imagination & lack of trust in adults expressing themselves. It  can also be explained in how the Durlseys were never fair to Harry and how  Hagrid dismissed Harry’s concerns about Snape.)
·          He pushed the door ajar and peered inside – and a horrible scene met his eyes. (Horrible because of the mangled  leg? Or horrible because of Snape and Filch? Why doesn’t Snape go to Pomfrey  – does he have issues with her? How come the closest person the local Squib  has is Snape?)
·          Snape and Filch were inside, alone. Snape was holding his robes above  his knees. One of his legs was bloody and mangled. Filch was handing Snape  bandages. (Oh Ron, yes, it did hurt him)
·          Blasted thing, Snape was saying. How are you  supposed to keep your eyes on all three heads at once? (First time Snape  curses.)
·          POTTER!
Snape’s face was twisted with fury as he dropped his robes quickly to hide  his leg. Harry gulped.
I just wondered if I could have my book back.
GET OUT! OUT!  (Bad memories maybe? Notice how he’s very private. I don’t think what upset  him was Harry seeing the wound, rather than his legs…)
·          And I’d bet my broomstick he  let that troll in, to create a diversion. (Well, as quick-witted you try to  be Harry, you just lost that broomstick.)
·          Hermione’s eyes were wide.
No – he wouldn’t, she said. I know he’s not very nice, but he  wouldn’t try and steal something Dumbledore was keeping safe. (“I know he’s  not very nice but he stays loyal to Dumbledore”.  Also, what do you mean “not very nice”? Is  it an euphemism, or is it true? Besides Harry’s first lesson, how is he “not  very nice”?)
·          Honestly, Hermione, you think  all teachers are saints or something, said Ron. I’m with Harry. I wouldn’t put anything past Snape.  But what’s he after? What’s that dog guarding? (Lol it reminds snaters when  they scream murder “you try to paint Snape as a saint!” Anyway, trying to  steal what’s down the trapdoor is a serious accusation because then Snape  would be a Dark wizard working against Dumbledore. Ron who distrusts Snape,  despising Hermione’s argument by saying “you think all teachers are saints”  aka you’re too gullible. But it’s Ron who’s in the wrong. As for Hermione,  it’s possible that after discovering the truth about Snape, she drew the  conclusion that she was right, and that Snape being “not nice” has nothing to  do with his true loyalties – maybe that’s too quick of a conclusion, because  it makes her think he couldn’t be a Dark Wizard. She seems to stand by that  idea though, because later, she insists that Snape killing Dumbledore doesn’t  make him evil, somehow… but maybe I’m going too far. Why does Ron distrust  Snape, him who was the first telling Harry not to care about Snape? Why does  he start to hate Snape – because of the book? Or only because, as he says,  he’s with Harry, and he came to believe what he says? Is it also because Ron,  being bullied along with Harry by Draco, came to hate Slytherin even more,  and thus hate their Head of House, who also happens to have once  congratulated Draco? Ron puts Harry’s word over Hermione, which shows his  loyalty but also how biased he is. What is that excuse Ron? Why wouldn’t you  put anything past Snape now, when Snape hasn’t done anything except for the  first class (which you dismissed) and the book? Their evidence is too little  to make such accusations. He directly assumes Snape tries to steal the  guarded thing, why? It’s here: Snape is not very nice, though we don’t get  anything more than the first Potions lesson and the book incident, but Ron  and Harry are quick to assume the worst of him. It’s blatantly unfair. And it  turns out they were wrong all along.)
·          He tried to empty his mind – he needed to sleep, he had to,  he had his first Quidditch match in a few hours – but the expression on Snape’s face when Harry had seen his leg wasn’t  easy to forget. (A furious expression? Why is it so unforgivable? Was it  that distorted – and does it come from how Harry has seen Snape a little too  much? Also, empty your mind… Occlumency.)
·          I knew it, Hermione gasped. Snape – look.  (Hermione changes her mind and tries to find a reason to call Snape the  culprit.)
·          He’s doing something – jinxing the broom, said Hermione.  (Assuming. They’re quite implying Snape’s trying to kill a child. We went  from doing something > jinxing pretty quick… Oh well. She didn’t know.)
·          She didn’t even stop to say sorry as she knocked Professor Quirell  headfirst into the row in front. Reaching Snape, she crouched down, pulled  out her wand and whispered a few, well  chosen words. (Why aren’t they warning a teacher??? Is Snape the only one  protecting Harry?)
·          It took perhaps thirty seconds  for Snape to realise that he was on fire. A sudden yelp told her she had done her job. Scooping the fire off him  into a little jar in her pocket she scrambled back along the row – Snape would never know what had happened.  (You better pray he doesn’t Legilimize you.)
·          It was enough. Up in the air, Harry was suddenly able to chamber back to his broom. (Why did Quirell stop  though, why didn’t he try to mutter another curse? Second, did Harry’s broom  stop jerking from the moment Quirell was knocked out, or 30 seconds after  Snape was put on fire? From the moment Snape realized he was on fire? Did he  stop staring at Harry from the moment he realized he was on fire, or before?  Was Snape still muttering when Quirell was knocked out? My theory is that  Dark Magic seems to linger even though Quirell hadn’t had the eye contact  anymore. The narrative forces to cast Snape as a potential villain… But it  leaves so many questions unresolved. And I just had the image of Snape  staring at Harry and muttering non-stop so  hard he set himself on fire. Did Snape think it was his magic leaking?  It’s a Snape going Eminem on Harry… Last thing: Snape seems to cast spells that are not just selected words but some  kind of prayer. I think he’s the only one who does that. Snape mutters  non-stop when he saves Harry from a Dark jinx, sings Draco’s wounds shut from  his Dark spell, mutters under his breath when he locks Dumbledore’s  Dark/Horcrux curse in his hand.
·          It was Snape, Ron was explaining. Hermione and I saw him. He was  cursing your broomstick, muttering, he wouldn’t take his eyes off you. (When  Snape searches a reason for Harry’s guilty looks and wonders if he’s been  breaking the rules, it’s shown as unfair. When the Trio makes quick  assumptions about Snape and search the reasons to cast him out, it’s somehow  okay. Snape muttering was as suspicious as Harry looking guilty twice… The  story might give clues as to why, but the narrative is quite unfair.)
·          Rubbish, said Hagrid, who hadn’t heard a word of what had gone  on next to him in the stands. Why would Snape do somethin’ like that? (A  nice parallel to when he dismissed Harry’s concerns over why Snape seemed to  hate him. By the time this happens, Harry doesn’t trust him enough anymore. If  Hagrid was wrong in thinking Snape hating Harry was rubbish, then we can  think that he’s wrong in thinking Snape innocent. The narrative outright  gives a reason for Hagrid to be misled: he hasn’t heard a word of what  happened next to him. But even if he had, would he think that Snape had  cursed the broom? Is Hagrid calling rubbish what Hermione and Ron saw, or  their interpretation of what they  saw? Either way, Hagrid’s question doesn’t focus on that. It focuses on the  reason Snape would curse the broom. But Harry already has one, one Hagrid  dismissed earlier: Snape hates Harry. It is logical and fair to think that  someone hating you wants you ill… But how the book persists and goes out of  its way to cast Snape as the villain before leading us here is unnerving.  They’re always expecting the worse out of Snape. Second, aren’t the kids more  terrified than that to think Snape tried to kill Harry? Why isn’t any teacher  leading an investigation? Even Hermione who loves teachers doesn’t think to  ask help from Flitwick or Dumbledore or anything, when they speaking about their own teacher trying to kill their 11  yo friend.)
·          I found out something about him, he told Hagrid. He tried to get past that three-headed dog at Hallowe’en. It bit  him. We think he was trying to  steal whatever it’s guarding. (Harry uses a conclusion as his first  explanation. He could have said “I’ve found him limping and his leg was  mangled, torn off, and he mentioned the Cerberus while talking to Filch.”  Instead he says directly “he’s been trying to get past the dog”. Maybe I’m digging too deep but… well, it makes  me feel uneasy.)
·          Hagrid dropped to teapot. How do you know about Fluffy? He said.
Fluffy?
Yeah – he’s mine – bought him off a Greek chappie I met in the pub las’ year – I lent him to  Dumbledore to guard the – (Did Quirell say he was Greek, or does he have a  Greek accent/does he speak Greek? Hagrid doesn’t ever mention that Snape’s  role is to protect whatever’s down there. It could have divided the readers  with more interpretations if he had done: some would think that explains  Snape’s presence near the dog and maybe they’re exaggerating, some would  think that’s really dangerous to have a reason to approach Fluffy. Instead  the book AGAIN tries to cast Snape as the villain. Hagrid would rather talk  about Fluffy that explaining Snape’s role. Well, he’s right to be concerned…  but he could have said the info later. Oh, and Hagrid, more than drinking “amber  liquid” in front of Harry and the Dursleys, more than being called/suspected  a drunkard by Draco, talks about he plays in pubs. Is this the fate that  awaits those who are expelled from Hogwarts, along with Squibs?)
·          Rubbish, said Hagrid again. Snape’s a  Hogwarts teacher, he’d do nothin’ of the sort. (Weak excuse Hagrid… Quirell  was a teacher as well. 3rd time you said Rubbish, and 3rd  time’s the charm I guess.)
·          So why did he just try and kill Harry? Cried Hermione. (Assumptions…)
·          The afternoon’s events certainly seemed to have changed her mind about  Snape. (But she does say “I knew it” as though she was already suspecting him  during Quidditch?)
·          I know a jinx when I see one, Hagrid, I’ve read all about them! You’ve got to keep eye contact, and  Snape wasn’t blinking at all, I saw him! (Hermione… you’re wrong. Reading in  books doesn’t make your assumptions right, it’s not enough. It’s so… arrogant  on your part. You’re only a first year dammit. Haven’t you read about jinx  counters???)
·          I’m tellin’ yeh, yer wrong! Said Hagrid hotly. I don’t know why  Harry’s broom acted like that, but Snape wouldn’t try an’ kill a student!  Now, listen to me, all three of yeh – yer  meddlin’ in things that don’t concern yeh. It’s dangerous. (Or yes it  concerns them, at least the attempted murder. Why is Hagrid convinced Snape  wouldn’t try to kill a student? Why does he seem upset when the Trio accuses  Snape? Does it have to do with how he seems to know what happened to Snape,  or is it because Dumbledore trusts Snape, or is Hagrid done with them? Also,  Hagrid is the first Snover that defends Snape against Snaters. Isn’t that  ironic.)
Chp 12 - Quidditch
·          Worst of all were Professor Snape’s classes down in the dungeons, where their breath rose in a mist  before them and they kept as close as  possible to their hot cauldrons. (1) cauldrons are dangerous for  children, Potions shouldn’t be taught at all to them, damn Wizarding world,  2) it’s not logical. The dungeons are underground and thus isolated from the  wind and the cold weather outside. They’ve got a lake near them to regulate  the temperature through the stones, better than winds in the badly isolated  towers. The dungeons, being isolated, should be cool and even a little warm.  After hours of heating cauldrons with fire, the classroom should become hot  enough for the day. But alright: Harry has Potions in the morning, as it  takes place after breakfast for one or two hours before they can go see  Hagrid on Fridays, and thus the classroom hasn’t been heated yet. But isn’t  it such a good coincidence Snape’s class has another reason to be called the worst? Though why don’t wizards  leave magical fires to warm up? Don’t they have a time-system that’d create a  fire around 30 minutes before the first students come into the classrooms?  Don’t they have instant warming charms? Why don’t they teach/spell them on  students? Leaving a fire all night unsupervised in a Potions classroom seems  dangerous enough, but they’ve got magic and spell! Why are the wizards so dumb  and unpractical?!)
·          Ron dived at Malfoy just as Snape came up  the stairs.
WEALSEY!
Ron let go the front of Malfoy’s robes.
He was provoked, Professor Snape, said Hagrid, sticking his huge hairy  face out from behind the tree. Malfoy was insultin’ his family.
Be that as it may, fighting is against Hogwarts rules, Hagrid, said Snape silkily.  Five points from Gryffindor, Weasley, and be grateful it isn’t more. Move along, all of you. (EXACTLY. Also  he calls him Hagrid J)
·          I hate  them both, said Harry. Malfoy and Snape. (BUT SNAPE WAS RIGHT THOUGH. The  problem is that Snape hasn’t punished Malfoy. We all know though that’s not  something he can do, strategically speaking (Draco being Lucius’ son).
·          Because how else were they going to find out what Snape was going to  steal? (They aren’t alerting the other teachers, oh my God… What do they  think that can do against a gown-up Wizard who knows Dark Magic? Ron and  Hermione shouldn’t have issues about trusting adults, but they still don’t  ask the help of a Professor. I can’t believe it could just be because of  Hagrid. They could know Hagrid was a bit gullible, but other teachers like  McGonagall or Flitwick? If they don’t ask the other teachers – although  previously Harry thought that Snape would be milder near other teachers and  so those teachers could defend him – is it because they know they’re too  close to Snape, meaning Snape has made friends with the other professors in  the end? Also, Hermione, when you’re searching for a book, don’t you know  Accio, don’t you have any reference to it? Can’t you use Accio Books of  Nicholas Flamel, or ask Mrs Pince? Or are we admitting you don’t know things  and thus can’t recognize Dark Magic from afar?
·          [Harry and Ron] were plotting ways  of getting Malfoy expelled, which were fun to talk about even if they wouldn’t work. (Imagine if  they want Malfoy expelled after his pathetic belittling, then there’s every  right for Snape to want to expel the Marauders; except it wasn’t “fun”. Plus  Malfoy too had tried to expel Harry with the fake duel, maybe with the bought  broom, and maybe with the Remembrall taunt.)
·          You asked me to come directly to  you, Professor, if anyone was wandering around at night,  and somebody’s been in the library – Restricted Section.
To his horror, it was Snape who replied.
The Restricted section? Well, they can’t be  that far, we’ll catch them. (Hm…  Interesting. Why is Filch precising this – is it because it’s a new  precaution taken for Harry?
Chp 13 – The Mirror of  Erised
·          Snape’s refereeing this time, and he’ll  be looking for any excuse to knock points off Gryffindor!
We’ve just got to make sure we play a clean game, so Snape hasn’t got an excuse to pick on  us. (Snape is described as unpleasant because he applies the rules  strictly and punishes easily if they’re not respected; but here, it’s not a question  of Snape punishing them without a valid reason – contrary to what’s going to  be said later. It’s really “looking for excuses” to give penalties… but are  they being fair though? They’ve got nothing to fear if they respect the  rules.)
·          Which was very well, thought Harry, but he had another reason for not  wanting Snape near him while he was playing Quidditch.
·          Harry told the other two about Snape’s sudden, sinister desire to be a Quidditch referee. (This is funny)
·          The idea of overtaking  Slytherin in the House Championship was wonderful, no one had done it for  nearly seven years, but would they be allowed to, with such a biased referee? (Hypocrite. You dare say that after  you got your broom, your bent rules, a biased commentator and a referee that was staring at Flint?)
·          Harry didn’t know whether he was imagining it or not, but he seemed to keep running into Snape  wherever he went. At times, he even wondered whether Snape was following him, trying to catch him on his own. (Ironic because it seems Snape’s  following Harry to protect him in case Quirell tries to find Harry on his  own.)
·          Potions lessons were turning into a  sort of weekly torture, Snape was so horrible to Harry. (How?  And why only now?)
·          Could Snape possibly know they’d found out about the Philosopher’s  Stone? Harry didn’t see how he could – yet he sometimes had the horrible feeling that Snape could read minds.  (Harry will have the same feeling at the beginning of CoS. Is Snape reading  Harry’s mind? Is he becoming horrible because of stress, because of spy duty,  because he sees that Harry starts to loathe him and judges him unfairly?  Snape is horrible to Harry, but how? Is it Harry’s perception – standing in a  room near the one you think tried to kill you, despising Slytherin, looking  carefully for signs Snape is biased? There’s no example of what “horrible  things” Snape is doing to Harry, how are we supposed to believe it hasn’t  anything to do with Harry’s own, exaggerated and unfair bias? Those words, “turning into a sort of weekly torture”, are sandwiched between Harry unable to understand Snape’s actions,  getting paranoiac and misinterpreting them, and a feeling that Snape can read  minds – which is true, but remains a feeling mingled with paranoia and guilt.  How to trust Harry’s point of view, especially when you read “Snape was so  horrible to Harry”, which seems too weak to believe? There are constant  attempts in the book to demonize Snape, from Harry or from the story aka bad  luck, these words are strong, but too tricky/unable to be used because  they’re plunged in a context of complete anti-Snape bias.)
·          Finish the game before Snape  can favour Hufflepuff too much. (Ah? So now it’s not just favouring  Slytherin, it’s trying to favour Hufflepuff? As if making Gryffindor lose was  more important than making Slytherin win – or is it because if Gryffindor  loses against Hufflepuff and Slytherin wins against Puff then it’ll make up  for losing  against Gryff? Plus saying  that when Snape doesn’t ever give any points to anybody? And can’t really  punish children of DE without putting himself in risk? If you fear so much  about referee bias, why don’t you hire a second referee?)
·          Perhaps that was why Snape was  looking so angry as the teams marched on to the pitch, something that Ron  noticed, too. (Ah, Dumbledore in the stands – though why wasn’t he there last  time when surely he suspected Quirell – you think Snape was angry about THAT)
·          I’ve never seen Snape look  so mean, he told Hermione. (It’s  to ward off the Death Eaters)
·          Snape had just awarded Hufflepuff a penalty because George Wealsey had hit a Bludger at him. (Okay, so in  real life, it’s red card and instant ejection from the game. Also I’ve read  that if you were in a real competition, you’d get fined and suspended. If  your move was intentional, you’d go to anger management training. Considering  Snape’s also a teacher, if it was  intentional, then you’d get counselling/a report. He only awarded a penalty. They’re lucky they don’t have any rules  to eject a player for Quidditch. Though it means that players could  threaten/beat the referee without much consequences than a penalty.)
·          Snape awarded Hufflepuff another penalty for no reason at all. (I doubt that, after what just happened.)
·          Harry had suddenly gone into a spectacular dive, which drew gasps and  cheers from the crowd.
Come on, Harry! Hermione screamed, leaping on  to her seat to watch as Harry sped  straight at Snape.
Up in the air, Snape turned on his broomstick  just in time to see something  scarlet shoot past him, missing him by  inches. (I remind you that Snape was an ass at Quidditch before.)
·          As Gryffindors came spilling on to the pitch, he saw Snape land  nearby, white-faced and tight-lipped.  (Got a good scary moment I get it. Plus Gryff losing, and you being almost  hit twice, while probably receiving boo’s… Yeah.)
·          Snape spat  bitterly on the ground. (Salty)
·          He’d done it, he’d shown Snape…
·          He recognized the figure’s prowling  walk.
·          Oh, I thought we’d keep this private, said Snape, his voice icy. Students aren’t supposed to know about  the Philosopher’s stone after all. (WAIT – does Snape think Harry knew  about the Stone because of Quirell, that Quirell intended to have Harry  search it??? It’s linked to the passage where Harry wonders if Snape could  read minds and know that Harry knew about the Stone.)
·          We’ll have another little chat soon, when you’ve had time to think things over and decided where  your loyalties lie. (Theme of loyalty, ironic coming from a defected DE.)
·          Quirell would have done some anti-Dark Arts spell which Snape needs to  break through – (so ironic)
·          So you mean the Stone’s only safe as long as Quirell stands up to Snape? Said Hermione in alarm.
Chp 14 – Norbert the  Norwegian Ridgeback
·          Snape was sweeping about in his usual bad temper, which surely meant that the Stone was safe.  Whenever Harry passed Quirell these days he  gave him an encouraging sort of smile, and Ron had started telling people off for laughing at Quirell’s stutter.  (I wish they’d done that for Snape. I need Snape-appreciating fic)
·          You don’t understand,  Professor, Harry Potter’s coming – he’s got a dragon!
What utter  rubbish! How dare you tell such lies! Come on – I shall see Professor Snape about you, Malfoy! (McGonagall trust  Snape THAT much. Moody will also drag Draco to see Snape in GoF… after  McGonagall’s told him about this.)
Chp 15 – The Forbidden  Forest
·          I think I’ve got a good idea  of what’s been going on, said Professor McGonagall. It doesn’t take a genius  to work it out. You fed Draco Malfoy  some cock-and-bull story about a dragon, trying to get him out of bed and  into trouble. I’ve already caught him. I suppose you think it’s funny that Longbottom here heard the  story and believed it, too? (Werewolf prank… Maybe McGonagall heard the full  story from Snape… In any case, she herself says that feeding such story to  make a student break curfew is a disgusting act that merits punishment.  Though sending them into the Forest…)
·          [McGonagall:] Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do,  Potter. (Ahh… here we have evidence that students complaining about a  teacher’s choice is forbidden.)
·          Fifty? Harry gasped – they would lose  the lead, the lead he’d won in the last Quidditch match. (So… Houses can win  the House Cup… by winning points in Quidditch? Where a Seeker can win 150  points for catching a little ball? This points system is bullshit. It takes  forever for students to win them by studying. Also, retrieving 50 points from  3 students equals to 150, which is a lot… but which is only what a Seeker  wins. Oh, and apparently putting yourself in mortal danger from a troll is  only 5 points worth, but being out at night is 50? I think it’s because the  book assumes the reader makes the link that Hermione didn’t truly deserve  punishment as she hadn’t done anything wrong… But not in McGonagall’s eyes,  who believes her lie. It makes McGonagall incoherent and extremely unfair.  The book’s story is very badly made. Ah but – no – not even that. McGonagall  only retrieved 20 points from Malfoy + detention, so she’s taking 30 points  more away from Harry and Hermione for feeding false info – from what she  thinks, at least. But Neville? She thinks that Neville is quite innocent in  this affair – but then she retrieves 50 points from HIM? McGonagall retrieves  insane amounts of points.)
·          Now get back to bed, all of  you. I’ve never been more ashamed of Gryffindor students. (1)  guilt-trip, 2) are you sure?)
·          A hundred and fifty points lost. That  put Gryffindor in last place. In one night, they’d ruined any chance Gryffindor had had for the House Cup.  Harry felt as though the bottom had dropped out of his stomach. (Why do 150 points  suffice to ruin all chances to win, when they’ve still got a match against  Ravenclaw, and months before the end of term? Is Slytherin THAT MUCH in the  lead? Or is it a plothole – a failure in Rowling’s attempt to make the  punishment tragic, to dramatize it?)
·          Harry didn’t sleep all night. He could  hear Neville sobbing into his pillow  for what seemed like hours. (OMG McGonagall made Neville cry, retrieved  50 points from him when he was partially innocent, but of course Snape is the  worst, and Neville should only fear Bellatrix, and he made Hermione tear up…  Just look at what happened when McGonagall intervened.)
·          He knew Neville, like himself, was dreading the dawn. What would happen  when the rest of Gryffindor found out what they’d done? (Points system is  intrinsically based on common punishment. It uses pressure from the House  itself to force the members to respect the rules – pressure that can result  in ostracization, isolation, shaming, that puts students at risk of being  bullied. In one book, Hermione started to quite harass Harry and Ron about  that, and now it’s the whole House – worse, the whole school. The House which  also consists in students the age of attending high school. Wonderful.  Hogwarts is a shitty school.)
·          And then the story spread  (from Draco?): Harry Potter, the famous Harry Potter, their hero of two  Quidditch matches, had lost them all those points, him and a couple of other  stupid first-years.
Even Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff turned on him, because everyone had been  longing to see Slytherin lose the House Cup. (1) anti-Slytherin by 3  Houses, 2) even other Houses can blame/hate Harry. Hasn’t McGonagall figured  what would happen if she punished them this hard?)
·          Everywhere Harry went, people pointed and didn’t trouble to  lower their voices as they insulted  him. (Consequences of points system.)
·          Fred and George have lost  loads of points in all the time they’ve been here, and people still like them.
They’ve never lost a hundred and fifty points in one  go, though, have they? Said Harry miserably.
Well – no, Ron admitted. (So either the  twins were never caught, either their punishments were less severe. But then  we remember that the person said to punish them the most for their  shenanigans is Snape. Snape punished them, but they’re still liked by the  school – maybe it’s another instance of “I hate Snape and he’s punished you  so it must be unfair, I like you even if you break rules”. Snape punished  them, but he never went to retrieve 150 points, or at least enough points to  turn the Gryffindors against them. McGonagall’s punishment had far worse  consequences.)
·          He’d had it with sneaking around and spying.
·          But even Quidditch had lost  its fun. The rest of the team wouldn’t  speak to Harry during practice, and if they had to speak about him, they  called him “the Seeker”.
·          Hermione and Neville were suffering too. They didn’t have as bad a time as Harry, because they weren’t as  well known, but nobody would speak to  them either. Hermione had stopped  drawing attention to herself in class, keeping her head down and working  in silence. (Hermione and Neville in one go! Also peculiar formulation.  Hermione likes to “draw attention to herself”, or is it what people think  she’s doing? Related to the know-it-all scene.)
·          All the same, he’d have  gambled twelve Philosopher’s Stones that Snape had just left the room, and  from what Harry had just heard, Snape would be walking with a new spring in  his step – Quirell seemed to have given in at last. (Well, Harry, you lost  your bet.)
·          But we’ve got not proof! Said Harry. (Exactly)
·          Who do you think they’ll  believe, him or us? (The staff believes Snape, trusts him. He’s not out of  bounds)
·          It’s not exactly a secret we hate him,  Dumbledore’ll think we made it up to get him sacked. (Damn that tea’s hot)
·          Filch wouldn’t help us if his life  depended on it, he’s too friendly with  Snape. (The ancient DE is the closest to Filch. We assume it’s because  they’re both filthy greasy adults who love to punish students. We could also  consider Filch is a bad example of a Squib to set in school as it trains  students to hate and despise Squibs – we’ll see that in CoS from Ron and HBP  from Harry – which increases discrimination, even in the Light Side. Snape  befriending him is interesting…)
Chp 16 – Through the  Trapdoor
·          Snape made them all nervous,  breathing own their necks while they tried to remember how to  make a Forgetfulness Potion. (I  sense some pretty wicked sense of humour. Snape breathes on their necks –  probably to check their dangerous  cauldrons/potions – which is the same thing we’re told about Madam Pince  making Harry nervous near the Restricted Section. For all those who think  Madam Pince is actually Madam Prince.)
·          Anyway, we’ve never had any  proof Snape found out how to get past Fluffy. He nearly had his leg ripped  off once, he’s not going to try it again in a hurry. (Ah)
·          It’s sort of secret, he said,  but he wished at once he hadn’t because Professor  McGonagall’s nostrils flared. (I see Snape’s not the only one. He does  the same thing in GoF, although it’s noted he seemed to try and sniff Harry  out.)
·          ‘It’s tonight,’ said Harry, once he was sure Professor McGonagall was  out of earshot. ‘Snape’s going through  the trapdoor tonight. He’s found out everything he needs and now he’s got  Dumbledore out of the way. He sent that note, I bet the Ministry of Magic  will get a real shock when Dumbledore turns up.’
‘But what can we –’ (Snape hears this, he  might conclude Harry’s trying to break curfew again to go through the  trapdoor. Yet in this case, Why didn’t Snape wait on the Third Floor corridor  for Harry & Co?)
[…] Good afternoon, he  said smoothly.
They stared  at him.
·          Hanging around like this, people will think you’re up to something.  (People like you, Snape? Just like you did with the Quidditch book?)
·          Be warned Potter – any more night-time wanderings and I will personally make sure you are expelled.  Good day to you. (Greeted him  twice? Is it sarcasm/passive-aggressive? Is it just a threat as Snape should  know from Dumbledore that Harry is better safe at Hogwarts? But indeed, Snape  is not pleasant. Taunting on the Gryffindors’ points, threat of expulsion  (although McGonagall threatened her students in her first class) – I think  most of these are technically allowed but they put pressure on the student  and justifies the need to consult the parents. Although, now that I think of  it, if parents were complaining to Snape about what he just said, Snape could  very well say “Your son has broken Hogwarts’ rules by wandering around at  night and it does deserve expulsion  from Hogwarts; I’m giving him a warning because he talked about going through  a trapdoor at nighttime and he won’t just lose points for this next time”. He’s  justified and in his right. BUT… he only addresses this to Harry, which is  biased.)
·          Snape came out and asked what I was doing, so I said I was waiting for Flitwick, and Snape went out to get him, and I’ve only just got away. I don’t know where Snape went. (Good teacher behavior?)
·          He pocketed it to use it on  Fluffy – he didn’t feel much like  singing. (Oh, give me some more singing Snape)
·          Looks like a harp, said Ron. Snape must have left it there. (Snape the harp musician – his  long fingers of a Potions Master playing on the strings…)
·          It wasn’t ordinary fire  either; it was purple. At the same  instant, black flames shot up in  the doorway leading onwards. (Beautiful.  Associating purple and black with Snape by the way. I want fanart of Snape  with purple or black fire. But I have a question. Why didn’t Quirell take the  potion to go forward with him? He wouldn’t be able to go back through the  black flames otherwise. Or did he just go through the flames unharmed? How  did Dumbledore go through the black flames to save Harry – does this mean  there are spells powerful enough to go past the potion riddle?)
·          This isn’t magic – it’s logic – a puzzle. A lot of the greatest wizards haven’t got an ounce of logic,  they’d be stuck in here for ever. (Snape is the one who made a test that  everyone from wizards to Muggles can solve. Snape is the one associated with  Hermione. Did you know we can reverse-solve the riddle to find the 2-3  combinations which allow us to solve them with the riddle and Hermione’s  clue?)
Chp 17 – The Man with  Two Faces
·          Severus? Quirell laughed and  it wasn’t his usual quivering treble, either, but cold and sharp. Yes,  Severus does seem the type, doesn’t he? So  useful to have him swooping around like an overgrown bat. Next to  him, who would suspect p-p-poor st-stuttering P-Professor Quirell? (Open  evidence that you shouldn’t trust appearances… and to think Harry and Ron  were showing support for Quirell, not an ounce for Snape later…)
·          Another few seconds and I’d  have got you off that broom. I’d have  managed it before then if Snape  hadn’t been muttering a counter-curse, trying to save you. (If Snape  hadn’t acted, Harry would have died at 11.)
·          All the other teachers  thought Snape was trying to stop Gryffindor winning, he did make himself  unpopular… (Willing to make himself unpopular… Did they know what had  truly happened later? Grosse ambiance Snape)
·          Unfortunately, while everyone  else was running around looking for it, Snape, who already suspected me, went  straight to the third floor to head me off. (Did he suspect Quirell before or  after Dumbledore told him to be wary of him?)
·          And not only did my troll fail to beat you to death, that  three-headed dog didn’t even manage to bite Snape’s lef off properly. (1) I want leg-missing  veteran Snape. 2) Um, but there’s something weird. Did Quirell let the troll  lose so the professors would try to find the troll and he’d be able to see  what protected the Stone? But he didn’t need to, he could have spied the door  while everyone was sleeping, or eating, or something. Did he let the troll  loose as to beat Harry to death? But that assumes Harry would search for the  troll, which he wouldn’t have done if Hermione hadn’t needed help. In this case,  either Quirell/Voldy is an idiot, or they predicted Harrywould try to fight  the troll, on the sole assumption Harry would emulate his father. OR they  knew about Hermione crying in the bathroom, suspected Harry and Ron would try  to save her, and made their move from then on. But there are more effective  ways to kill Harry. You only need Harry being sent somewhere where he’d be  alone with Quirell/Voldemort and be offered to be either part of the Dark  Side or killed. 3) Did the dog mangle Snape’s leg during the troll event? But  his limping gets mentioned only later, when Harry and Ron hang out with  Hermione. Only in the films do we see Snape’s leg bitten near the troll. Plus  if Snape had interrupted Quirell near the dog and he had been bitten, why  wouldn’t Quirell use the opportunity to attack him, kill him or help the  Cerberus kill Snape? Quirell would have had the perfect crime. The Cerberus  could even have eaten Snape, and you’d have no way to tell Snape had been  stunned or something, AND Fluffy would have to be executed, leaving the Stone  defenseless for a time. Voldemort IS said to be merciless even to his  followers. Maybe Quirell saw what happened to Snape’s leg after the troll incident? That seems  the most plausible… Also a real school would have closed if a troll had been  threatening students like that, if Harry’s broom was attacked with Dark  Magic, nearly killing him, and if there was a dog able to bit off a teacher’s  leg accessible through the use of Alohomora.)
·          He does not forgive mistakes easily.  When I failed to steal the Stone from Gringotts, he was most displeased. He punished me… decided  he would have to keep a closer watch  on me… (What to think, then, when in HBP Snape, after Lucius’ punishment  in having his son put in almost-certain death’s way, says that Voldemort  “wasn’t pleased”…)
·          What I want more than  anything else in the world at the  moment, he thought, is to find the Stone before Quirell does. (And here  we have a MOST interesting passage. The object supposed to show you the  deepest, most desperate desire in the world can show a desire that appears AT  THE MOMENT. In a world that allows that for the deepest desire, then it  should allow that for the deepest fear… particularly Neville’s Boggart after  having poor interactions with Snape twice just before. I think it reinforced  the theory.)
·          But your mother needn’t have  died… she was trying to protect you…  (Lily tried to protect Harry. Snape tried to save him. And in the end, they  both did. Do we have to wonder why Snape has the Patronus of Harry’s mother?)
·          Professor Snape, Harry.
Yes, him –  Quirell said he hates me because he hated by father. Is that true?
Well, they  did rather detest each other. Not  unlike yourself and Mr Malfoy. And then, your father did something Snape could never forgive.
What?
He saved his life. (………)
What?
Yes… said  Dumbledore dreamily. Funny, the way  people’s minds work, isn’t it? Professor  Snape couldn’t bear being in your father’s debt… I do believe he worked  so hard to protect you this year because  he felt that would make him and your father quits. Then he could go back  to hating your father’s memory in  peace…
….
….
This is the  most disgusting thing I have read lately.
You said you  didn’t want to lie, Dumbledore?
You just did.  Horribly. And you know it. Just as you know the truth.
You know,  before, Harry could have sought Snape to talk with him and maybe, maybe, asked for forgiveness to have  wrongfully accused him.
It is  Dumbledore who sets Harry and Snape definitely apart.
He could have  told him that Harry’s father had tormented Snape so horribly he couldn’t ever  forgive him.
Snape’s  hatred, Hagrid’s hesitancy, Quirell’s admission that Snape and James hated  each other – all of these are buckled up with the message that he was  unfairly ungrateful to James, and a mean pathetic villain in the end.
The book ends  with the idea that Snape saved Harry not because he cared about his life, but  because he had a debt against a man that’s been presented as good until now. Meaning  Snape could still turn against Harry later.
The problem  is that Snape isn’t saving Harry to pay a debt to James. He’s saving him as  he wishes to extend Lily’s will and make her death not in vain. We could go  further and say that he wanted to truly change and repent.
Dumbledore  makes Harry think that Snape was kind of “forced” to pay back his debt for  James’ supposedly honourable action, and that he hated Harry because he hated  his father, as well as because he  was unwilling to save Harry.
In DH, we see  clearly that Snape is horrified with the idea of sending Harry to his death  “like a pig to slaughter”; in fact in CoS, Snape gets worried when he hears  that a student has been captured by the monster.
However,  these things are never openly acknowledged. Dumbledore is willing to present  James as a hero, while you have to dig through a lot to realize Snape became  one as well.
He never said  that he might not only hate James for being the one who saved him, but also  because, as Snape was forced to keep the truth of what happened to himself,  James was presented as a pure hero at heart and this info was used against  Snape by Lily who obviously started to defend the Marauders and mistrust  their victim. The only time the situation is explained is only in a book  where Harry fully antagonizes Snape: that James had no choice but to save  Snape if he wanted to save his friends and himself, and that it hadn’t been a  selfless act (at least not entirely). But since Snape is meant to be hated,  it’s easy to cast him in the wrong. Never is it said that if James hadn’t  saved Snape, Sirius would have turned a murderer, Remus a victim of his own  best friend’s plans, and James an accomplice of the murder, at least at fault  for failure in duty to rescue.
Do you have a  debt for someone whose friend put you in the very mortal situation forcing  them save you?
Dumbledore  compared the Marauders’ bullying against Snape to Harry and Malfoy when  Malfoy hasn’t done a quarter of what James did to Snape, and when that’s  something that borders between rivalry and unsuccessful harassment rather  than heavy abuse.
And we have  to keep in mind that the one who was the reason the info about why James had  to save Snape spread, the one who silenced Snape and forced the misunderstood  event, the one who participated in hurting him and having him bullied  relentlessly, the one who canonically gaslighted Snape, was Dumbledore himself.
Before, it  was a combination of mistrust, lack of information and misinterpretation, as  well as anti-Slytherin bias and fear for his life, that had kept Harry away  from Snape. Now, Dumbledore, by his lie of omission and obviously distorted  interpretation of Snape’s motives, has effectively cut Harry’s trust for the  professor who just spent the last year saving and protecting him. Snape’s  credit of his salvaging actions is robbed from him.
I don’t even  understand Dumbledore’s logic behind, other than trying to glorify James and  flatter Harry. The only thing he promised not to say was about Snape’s  allegiance to Lily. In its stead, Dumbledore spoke about a sort of allegiance  to James. Worse, instead of trying to mitigate Harry and Snape’s connections,  he impends it.
On one hand, as  we know from the Prince’s Tale, he tells Snape that he’s mistaken about  James’ son, that he only sees what he wants to see. Obviously he doesn’t want  him to hate Harry or to mistake him so much. On the other hand he tells that  same boy something that’s so… I’m sure there’s a proper name to it – so  biased and so open to wrong interpretations, so stamped with the purpose of  glorifying Harry’s father on the expanse of Harry’s personal protector, that  he won’t see any reason to make an effort to be less mutinous against his  teacher.
And yet,  after this entire book, the only confirmed thing that Snape has objectively  done wrong, was nagging and ridiculing Harry in his first class. To put some  context, McGonagall’s punishment had 2 times worse consequences against Harry  than what Snape ever did, and she put him in danger with someone she had  acknowledged irresponsible, unable to protect someone well – but she doesn’t  get any more hate from Harry because he feels like he deserved the punishment  and is genuinely hurt. Other than that, Snape’s actions were mostly justified  or in the norms – but instead of having Harry wonder how far he went to  antagonize Snape this last year and how wrong he was in doing so, he’s given  another reason not to do that: Snape hates him unfairly so there’s no need to  think things through, no need to make peace.
Dumbledore is  a catalyst, an actor, maybe THE reason, that Harry and Snape will keep hating  each other along the next books.
And you know  what? This plan backfires gruesomely when Albus has no choice but to make him  teach Harry Occlumency.
Dumbledore  broke Harry’s trust with his professor when it had a chance to spring, and  then, after Sirius’ death, he’ll again somehow make it Snape’s fault talking  about “some wounds run too deep”.
I get that it  is meant to make the author doubt about Snape’s true allegiances for the  future… But I think that even if Dumbledore had told Harry the true reason  Snape hated James and couldn’t seem to let go of the past, it would still  have allowed Snape to make Voldemort believe Dumbledore fell for his “lying”,  and accentuated hate against Snape when he’d kill Dumbledore, as it would  have given further clues to the reader to think that maybe James’ treatment  of Snape, being unforgivable, is a solid reason to think Snape doesn’t ever  want to work for the Light. It would have acted like a Snape’s Worst Memory,  except sooner.
Instead he  said “Snape couldn’t ever forgive James for having saved his life, he  couldn’t bear knowing that he had a debt to him”… and only that.
This is  Dumbledore in one of his cruelest, most manipulative and repulsive choices. I
I think I’ll  hate this passage from now on.
·          Harry tried to understand this but it  made his head pound, so he stopped. (See what I mean? Harry won’t try to  think things through. Well, after what Dumbledore said, you don’t even have  to bother really.)
·          Snape was shaking Professor McGonagall’s hand, with a horrible forced  smile. (Yeah… yeah, I would have used something akin to Occlumency if I  were at your place, to hold up the humiliating “downfall” of my own House  glorified by the rest of the school. Also notice how Harry reserved the  “Professor” title for McGonagall only. All ties are cut.)
·          He caught Harry’s eye and Harry knew at once that Snape’s feelings  towards him hadn’t changed one jot. This  didn’t worry Harry. (Why should he, huh? In the midst of this horrible  anti-Slytherin/pro-Gryffindor show no less?)
·          (They all got good marks.)  Even Neville scraped through, his  good Herbology mark making up for his  abysmal Potions one. (We didn’t have a single instance where Snape  bullies Neville here. Only Harry… in the beginning of the year. Not any other  instance after. Weak bully in HP1. Let’s see if it changes in HP2, in HP4, or  if one of the worst instances start in HP3, and we know why he would. Let’s  confirm a hypothesis. The hypothesis that Snape became really bullying mostly  because of the circumstances, such as his bullies returning at Hogwarts, or  Voldemort coming back.)
Conclusion
I don’t have any. I’m tired. I’ll make the posts with themes based on this alright? I hoped this proved insightful.

He can't even think straight and with each passing day since losing Sirius, Harry feels more and more exhausted. I just realized I never said this but Michael from the first chapter is Dean Thomas’ father. He didn’t have a name so I named him. Requests are still open, as well as the tag list. I’m sorry If I missed you on this chapter please message me and I will add you. Also I am changing the way some characters would have acted. Its just to go with the way the story is going. Also Harry, Ron and Hermione is younger than Carl and Sophia is in the show. They’re about 4 instead of 10 like them. I made them so they don’t go straight into guns like Carl did.
Warning: Cussing, Zombie death. Kidnapping, angry female. threat to kill/maim young kid.
“Mel?” I hear from behind me. I know that voice. It can’t be.
“Sirius?” I ask turning around. “Oh my god!” We both walk forward meeting in the middle, wrapping each other in a hug.
“How are you here?” He whispers into my hair surprised.
“What do you mean?” I ask pulling away from the hug to look at his confused face.
“The day this all started, the army was killing everyone that coughed, sneezed or even wiped their nose. I went straight to your room to see if you were okay, but your heart machine was off. I checked your pulse but I couldn’t feel anything. I closed your door and hid you so that if I got a chance I could go back and bury you I would,” he says tearing up a bit.
“Its okay Sirius. I’m fine,” I say hugging him again.
“Aunt Mel. Uncle Sirius said you died,” Harry says pulling on my pant leg.
I pull from the hug to look down at him. “Harry,” I say kneeling. “Uncle Sirius had every right to say that. He honestly believed that. I’m fine. That’s all that matters right,” I ask him as I fix his glasses. He nods and runs over to a red-haired boy that’s with Molly.
I stand straight up and smile.
“I can’t believe I found you guys,” I say to my brother and Sirius.
“How did you even get into the city?” James asks.
I tell them the story of me waking up, finding Frank, driving here and running into Remus.
“Bag of guns?” Sirius asks.
“I guess you forgot about the guns hidden in the office next to mine,” I smirk walking over to the van. I look in the back and grab the bag. I turn to Sirius and I open the bag. He smirks looking inside.
“As I recall you were the only one that had a key-”
“Melissa? Melissa Potter?” I freeze in my spot. No please no. Not him.
“Severus?” I step around Sirius to take a look. He steps forward and pulls me into his arms.
“I’m so happy you’re safe,” he says.
“Thanks,” I awkwardly pat his back.
“You two know each other?” James asks stepping forward toward Severus.
“This is Severus, my ex boyfriend I told you guys about,” I say to the guys.
Severus pulls from the hug, “Who are these guys to you Melly?”
“First of all, don’t call me that. Second of all it shouldn’t matter but James is my twin brother and Sirius was my partner,” I answer him rolling my eyes.
Tumblr media
“I thought your name was Snape?” Sirius asks glancing at me then back at Severus.
“Severus Snape,” He corrects, “Dr. Severus Snape”
I roll my eyes, “Anyway Sirius you can put this bag with the rest. Where-”
“Wait! Where is my husband?” A woman yells. Sirius and I look straight over to her.
“Mrs. Granger?” Sirius asks walking over to her. I follow him.
“Andrea? Where is my husband?” She asks again pulling her daughter with her.
“He was being an asshole so we left him on the roof of the building we were in,” Andrea says.
“Wait!? There were more people?” I snap fulling standing next to Sirius now.
“You just left him there?” Mrs. Granger turns to me.
“I never met him. I will personally go back and bring him back,” I say honestly.
“Me too,” Remus says walking up beside me. I smile at him as a thank you and he just winks at me.
“You better,” she snaps. She grabs her daughters hand and pulls her to the tent they are staying in.
“Should we bring more people?” Remus asks me.
Michael walks up and says, “I’ll go. Dean is with Molly, so I can come. I tried to talk to Andrea out of it but she just locked the door.”
“I’ll go too,” Arthur says. “I can unlock the door with tools I have in the RV.”
“So were sacrificing four people for Mr. Granger?” Severus says walking up. “That guy wouldn’t give you water if you were dying of thirst”
“Severus. Just shut up. Sirius, get some supplies together for us please. We’ll leave in 30.” I say turning to everyone.
“Sure thing darling,” He pats my back and walks toward the Weasley’s RV.
I look at the other 3. “Are you sure? You guys just came back with me today.”
“I’m good to go” Remus nods. Thank god. I know i’ll need his help. He’s the only one I trust right now. Not including my family and Sirius.
“It’s partially my fault for not telling you he was up there. Molly and my family understand.” Arthur nods at me.
“I’m good. Dean is taken care of.” Michael says.
I turn to everyone in the campsite as they walk away to say goodbye to their families, “The four of us are leaving an a half hour. We will be back tonight or very early tomorrow morning. I’m very sorry about this. I didn’t even know he was up there”
Everyone nods and Sirius walks up to us with a bag.
“This has food, water and some of the guns you brought with you.” He hands it to Arthur who walks back to the van. I turn to Remus.
“Was it the same building we were in?” I ask.
“I think so. I remember how to get there. While were out we can also look in the store down the street,” Remus says.
“Are you guys ready now,” I ask as they walk back.
“Yep” They say and Remus gets the keys. “I’ll drive. I remember a shortcut on the way back.”
We all pile into the van and Remus drives us. I can’t believe I found my family. Its all because of this handsome guy sitting next to me. I should talk to him more and get to know him. I stare out the window for a little bit.
“Mel? Are you okay?” Remus asks pulling me out of daydreaming.
I look over at him and smile, “Actually Remus, I’m fantastic.”
He smiles and nods looking back at the road. He is so sweet. I wonder where he got the scars from. Not that it matters to me. He’s handsome with them.
“Were here,” He says putting the car in park.
“Do we want to get Mr. Granger first or stop at that store?” Michael asks.
“Well we should get Mr. Granger first. We’d be doubling back,” Remus says.
“Also Its a really hot day and he is probably dehydrated. He could still die.” I say running toward the building. The guys follow me and Remus shows me the way up to the roof. Arthur uses some bolt cutters to get the door open and all four of us bust in the door and run around the roof.
“Oh god,” Michael says making us all look at him. I slowly walk over to the pipe that hes standing in front of. All I see is the zip ties that were holding him there and a bloody hand on the ground. I cover my mouth. Oh no. He’s gone. I see a line of blood going toward another door on the other side of the roof.
“Remus” I say without looking at him and I follow the blood. I can hear his footsteps behind me and I pull my gun out of my holster. I slowly open the door holding my gun up. There’s a staircase going back down. I go straight down looking around. I see a couple dead walkers, ignoring them I keep following the trail of blood. It brings me to a broken, bloody window. I sigh and turn to Remus.
“He jumped,” Remus says and I nod.
“We can go outside. 2 of us go to the store and the other 2 will look for him,” I say looking at the guys.
“I’ll go to the store,” Remus says.
“I’ll go with you,” Arthur says. Remus looks at me and smiles touching my arm. I blush a little and they walk back up toward the roof.
“Okay Michael, it looks like he went toward where the van was parked. We can look around there first.” I say pointing toward the other door in the room putting my gun away pulling out my knife.
Michael and I walk out the door looking around for Mr. Granger. I go to the exact stop where the van was and theres a couple of walkers which I take them out quickly and quietly. I walk quickly to the road to see if he could be walking back. Nope. I sigh and i look at Michael.
“I don’t know this city well. Could there be anywhere he could possibly go to fix his hand?” I ask.
“Well there’s-” Michael gets cut off by Arthur running up to us pulling a young kid about the age of 17 with him.
“Remus was kidnapped!” He says quickly.
I turn to him quickly. “What?”
“This morons group went for a bag of food Remus and I put together and a fight broke out and I grabbed this kid and his group took Remus.” I turn to the kid.
“Where are they?” I snap. No one is taking Remus away from me. I barley even got to know him.
“I ain’t telling you shit.” He glares at me.
I grab his shirt and I pull him to me. “You don’t tell me where he is, you won’t return to him unscathed. Maybe you’ll lose a body part. Probably a foot seeing as you’ll need those to run from walkers. Now tell me where my guy is at?” I say venomously.
“The b-big g-green b-building,” the kid stutters out.
“Show me,” I snap.
I push him in front of him still holding his shirt. He walks us to a huge building and points to the back of the building. I push him that way and we stand in the back while Arthur knocks on the door and he stands back behind me. A man walks out with a group of people.
“Well hello, how can we help you? Seeing you have one of my guys, you must be the group taking our food.” He says smirking at me.
“Well seeing as my group got that food, its my food but you also have someone that belongs to me,” I say calmly to him.
“G! She threatened to cut my foot off!” The young man says to him.
“Cops do that?” He asks giving me a look.
“In this world, when someone takes someone that belongs with my group I do.” I step forward. “Seems like an even trade. Your guy for mine.”
“Well I see that you still have the bag my group went to grab so no its not an even trade.” He says smartassly.
“Its an even trade, because this belongs to us. We found it. Its ours now give me back-”
“No I see two opinions. You come back with Miguel and my bag of food and you live. Or you can come back locked and loaded and we’ll see who sheds more blood” He says turning around and going back inside.
I grab Miguel and we go back to the building where we lost Mr. Granger.
“What are we going to do? This bag has the last edible foods,” Arthur says.
“Oh well get Remus back. And were keeping the food” I say looking at the bag Sirius put together for us.
“G will kill you guys. You don’t know how crazy he can be.” Miguel says laughing at us. I turn to him and I get right in his face.
“You haven’t seen crazy” I glare.
Tumblr media
“What you mean,” Michael asks looking at me.
I pick up a shotgun from the table and I cock the gun.
“We’re going locked and loaded.” I smile at Arthur and Michael. “We’re getting Remus back.”

The Malfoy Manor
Lyra Lestrange was not one to impulsively make decisions. Although her mind was made up the day she spoke to Albus she did spend several days deliberating before finally putting quill to parchment and writing the Headmaster a letter of acceptance. He was delighted to hear from his old student and was keen to know what she had planned for her students.
Her aunt and uncle on the other hand weren’t as pleased.
Now, they weren’t outraged enough to kick her out of the mansion but it was a persistent topic of conversation over dinner for the weeks interim. They avoided addressing it directly; instead Narcissa would go on about finding a husband whilst Lucius would offer her holidays and internships abroad. Lyra found herself picking up extra shifts and staying late, trying to avoid interacting with Aunt Cissy and Uncle Lucy. She was grateful the mansion was large so she could easily avoid crossing paths with them but lately she had found solace in the library.
Lyra spent her hours at the place she resided mulling over books that she thought would best suit her curriculum. She was still deciding on a book suitable for those in years 6 and 7, knowing that she would actually have to perform the Dark Arts in front of her students. She knew there was no use in hiding from it and only learning the theory. How could one be best equipped if you had to face it in real life if all they had done was read it from a book?
It was lucky that her Aunt and Uncle had kept their library fully stocked. There were hundreds, if not thousands of books lined on the walls stacked on top of one another. It wouldn’t surprise her if half of the books were unread or untouched, bought purely to promote the image of wealth. In the centre of the room was a large desk which Lyra was well acquainted with as she had spent her summers as a teenager attempting to read all that she could as well as spending her time studying there whilst in Healing School. It was probably her favourite room within the entire house as it was peaceful and she was usually not disturbed.
The collection of books within the library included old text books of hers as well as her Aunt and Uncle’s which she was considering as part of her subject. She waved her wand and a few books were pulled from the shelf and floated to the desk. She was flicking through a book when she was interrupted by a child crashing through the door. The blond boy had his broomstick in tow and looked hopefully towards Lyra.
“Lyra,” he drawled, “Can you come and play with me?”
She smiled sweetly at her cousin and caressed his head. “Sorry Draco, I’ve got to find a book.”
“Well, what book do you need?”  He asked as propped his broomstick against the desk. “I could help you find it?”
She smiled and laughed lightly to herself knowing full well that her 9 year old cousin wouldn’t have the faintest idea where to look, “I’m not sure yet, I’m trying to find something good but I need to read through them all.”
Draco looked deflated. “Well, I’ll be outside then. Please come and join me when you can. It’s not as fun playing alone.” He grabbed his broomstick and walked towards the door, his head hung with sadness.
“Why don’t you invite the boys over to play?” Lyra suggested as she flicked through a book and put it aside.
“They’re not as good as you,” he frowned.
A woman approached the door to the library which young Draco had left ajar. She had hair as blonde as the child who entered. She beckoned for her son.
“Draco, dear,” she said. “Haven’t we told you before not to disturb Lyra whilst she’s in the library. She’s got important things to do.”
“What’s so important?” he questioned.
“I’ve got a new job,” she said, “Just doing a bit of reading up.”
“But, I thought you had a job?” he questioned. “Aren’t you working at that hospital as a healer?”
“I’m taking a break for a while, I’m going to go work at Hogwarts to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts,” Lyra said.
“Can I go to Hogwarts with you?” the boy asked.
Lyra smiled, “No sweetie. You’re too young. You’ll probably go next year.”
“I hope so,” his mother said. “Your father wants you to go to Durmstrang but Hogwarts is much closer.”
“Will you still be there next year?” Draco asked, looking up at his cousin.
“Possibly,” she said. “But don’t worry yourself too much. I’ll make time to see you, can’t leave my darling cousin alone for too long.” She pinched his cheek.
“Go along, dear,” Draco’s mother dismissed him and he went outside reluctantly. She turned her attention to Lyra. “Are you sure this is wise?”
“Working at Hogwarts?” she asked. “I think so. I mean, it’ll probably only be a year and I can go back to St. Mungo’s after and resume my training as a healer.”
“But all those mudbloods,” her Aunt shuddered at the thought.
“Yet you want Draco to go there?” Lyra raised her eyebrows.
“Scandinavia is much too far away -”
“Is it, dear?” A man with long blonde hair entered the room, joining the conversation. “I think it’s important that Draco gets an education where he will not be corrupt by filthy mudbloods and be taught how to use the Dark Arts.”
“What if he needs something and we’re too far away, Lucius?” his wife questioned.
“Well, we sent Lyra there and she was fine,” Lucius shrugged.
Lyra laughed as Narcissa objected, “Lyra was expelled.”
“With good reason,” she interjected. “You can’t expect me to go to school with that man in charge. He betrayed us.”
“Better to have Karkaroff than Dumbledore,” Lucius said. “Draco needs to learn how to use the Dark Arts.”
“Then teach him yourself,” Narcissa said before storming out of the room. The door slammed shut behind her.
“You honestly can’t blame her,” Lyra said. “She loves Draco more than anything and you never know Karkaroff might want revenge for what I did to him.”
“But Hogwarts? The place has gone to the dogs. Mudbloods roaming about learning how to use magic.”
Lyra’s ideals no longer aligned with her family’s but she wasn’t about to let that slip out. She’d much rather pretend to be a purist than come out as a blood traitor. “Honestly, Uncle,” she said. “I’m not sure of anything right not and I feel like it’d be nice to just get away from work for a while.”
“Why not go on a holiday?” he asked. “I’ll cover your expenses.”
“Thanks for the offer but I think I need this,” Lyra said as she opened up a book that was sitting on the desk.
“Very well,” Lucius said as he walked off.
~
The Malfoy Manor had been Lyra’s home for the past ten years, though she had probably spent more time at school or work than actually at her home. After the fall of the Dark Lord and then the imprisonment of her parents her Aunt Narcissa and Uncle Lucius had taken her in. Once she turned 17 she thought that she may have been able to move to her parents’ house but found that the Ministry of Magic had seized most of their assets and sold it on to new owners.
Lyra did not wish to impose on her Aunt and Uncle’s generosity for too long but it’s not like they even saw her much due to the vast size of their home. Her Aunt and Uncle insisted that she stay with them until she got married. Lyra had little to no interest in marriage but it seemed to be all that her Aunt seemed to talk about.
“So, Lyra, when will you find a nice man to marry?” she asked as they sat at the dinner table. Lyra knew by the tone of her voice that nice really meant pure-blood.
“There’s not many left that we’re not related to,” she said as she dug into her steak. “Plus I am much more focused on my career.”
“Not much of a career if you insist on changing to teaching,” Lucius said.
Lyra exhaled.
“Honestly, Lyra,” Narcissa said, “You’d be a wonderful mother. I don’t know why you insist on working so much. Just find yourself a man and get married, that’s what I did.” She smiled and held Lucius’ free hand for a brief moment.
“You never know, I might find myself a nice man whilst I’m at Hogwarts,” she jested.
“Where? In a pub at Hogsmeade?” Narcissa scoffed. “Don’t be stupid.”
“The only decent man there is Severus and he’s a half blood,” Lucius said.
Lyra recoiled at the thought of seeing her old Professor in that manner. Severus Snape was a man whose name and face passed through Lyra’s head often. She knew that Severus was close to her family and he strongly featured in the memories of the days from when her family followed the Dark Lord. Despite the fact that those days were over she knew that her Uncle Lucius kept in close contact with him. Though that was not the reason the Potions Master was a thought that frequented in her head.
“Miss Lestrange,” Severus sneered, “I have half a mind to place you in my first year class. How could you make a mistake on such a simple potion?” He waved his wand and the contents disappeared.
She froze in shock and confusion. She swore she put all the ingredients correctly as she had time and time again. She glanced up at the girl she knew would sabotage her potion but instead of laughter her face was pure white, as if she had seen a ghost. She didn’t understand why until her ears tuned back into what her classmates were whispering. “Lestrange?” “Did he say Lestrange?” “As in those Death Eaters?”
She glared at him and he could see by his face that he knew he had made a terrible mistake. Lyra got up from her desk and with a flick of her wand her books slammed shut and packed themselves away into her bag. She stormed off, slamming the door with her wand as hard as she could behind her.
She walked off, straight past the Slytherin common room and made her way upstairs to the Headmaster’s office. This was it, her reputation ruined. She had tried so hard to keep her real name a secret. She knew that she’d have to leave the school before word got around.
“What about the Carrow’s?” Narcissa asked, bringing Lyra’s attention back to the present day. “Weren’t they on our side?”
Lyra screwed up her face in disgust, “Isn’t Amycus like 30? I’m only 20.”
“Can’t be too picky now,” Narcissa shrugged. “Ten years isn’t that big of an age gap.”
“I did suggest you could go overseas,” Lucius offered, “You could find yourself a foreign pure-blood husband.”
“I’m ok,” Lyra said, shoving some food in her mouth in an attempt to excuse herself from talking much more.
“How about one of your old school friends from Durmstrang?” he continued, “Don’t you keep in contact with any of them?” Lyra shook her head in response.
“You don’t have forever, you know?” her Aunt said, “You’re in your prime and those years are just ticking away. Your mother married and had you when she was only 19.”
“My mother also joined the Dark Lord when she was 17 and there was probably a lot more pure-blood wizards around back then,” Lyra said, “But you guys all went and killed each other, I’ll probably have to settle for a half-blood.”
“You will not tarnish the Black family name like my blood-traitor sister,” Narcissa screeched, bringing the whole table to a halt.
“Now, dear,” Lucius said, reaching over and stroking his wife’s hand, “We’ll find her someone, don’t you worry. If not she can marry young Draco here once he’s of age.”
Lyra shook her head at Draco who was much too young to be listening to this conversation. “Don’t worry, I won’t let that happen,” she said to the young boy seated next to her.
“Well, I do love you,” Draco said, smiling at his cousin.
She smiled sweetly back at him, “I love you too Draco.”
Lucius and Narcissa continued to discuss Lyra’s potential suitors over dinner. She excused herself once she was done and found her way back to the Malfoy Library. She started pouring over different books. It took a few more hours before she had the right one and as soon as she found it she added it to her list and sent it off to Professor Dumbledore. She had chosen a different book for 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, 4th and 5th, and 6th and 7th. She felt accomplished and confident in her choices, with that she headed to bed.

Sirius Black Headcanon
1.  From a very young age, Sirius promised Regulus that he would find them a safe home. 2.  He was gay, and his family didn't support him, and it got even worse when Regulus came out as bisexual. 3.  Andromeda was the one that thought him to read, because he couldn't handle the pressure of his mother's teachings. 4.  The first thing that made him realise that something was wrong within the family, was the way that his father and uncle treated Andromeda and Regulus for being different. 5.  He hated being touched and found it hard to deal with people showing him affection. 6.  He had a fake relationship with Marlene. 7.  As a child he would monitor and restrict Regulus' sweet consumption since no one else was and when he started school he did the same for Remus Lupin. 8.  When he was eleven he got his first tattoo at a muggle parlor (he drank an aging potion first). 9.  He pierced his own ears when he was twelve. 10.  The first muggle artist he ever heard was Buddy Holly. 11.  For Christmas in third year, James bought him a piercing kit and he became the reason why so many students got piercings. 12.  Because of this he became the reason why piercings were banned. 13.  He covered his room in pictures of muggle women to annoy his parents and because he appreciated the womanly form. 14.  He is the reason why James and Regulus received three match Quidditch bans. 15.  Sirius suffered from PTSD and Depression, because of his many years in Azkaban and of his childhood experiences. 16.  He hated Kreacher's blind devotion to his mother, but he wasn't too bothered by his devotion to Regulus. 17.  He was the only Marauder not to feel completely remorseful for what he did to Severus Snape and a few other people. 18.  Despite what many people thought, Sirius didn't actually drink that much when he was younger. 19.  In sixth year with the help of many people, he set up the Hogwarts pride parade, but it had to be postponed from 1979 onwards due to the threat of Voldemort. 20.  He is highly allergic to bee stings. 21.  He was the first one to make a move in his relationship with Remus. 22.  The Marauders rarely agreed with his plans for pranks, because many of them were too dangerous and completely illegal. 23.  He beat Lucius to a pulp for trying to poison Regulus. 24.  Remus was the only one that could calm him down when he was in a rage. 25.  Though less sulky and tens time braver in his opinion, Sirius could see some of Regulus' good traits in Tonks and he adored her for it. 26.  He hated Remus' habit of rescuing creatures that he thought were in danger. 27.  But he hated Peter's habit of believing everything he heard even more. 28.  He learned to play guitar when he was twelve, although he struggled a lot at first, because even though he is right-handed, he found it easier to play left-handed. 29.  Even though Sirius enjoyed sweet things, he never understood the appeal of chocolate. 30.  He missed his first N.E.W.T exam, due to breaking his arm, the night before because he was hit by the Whomping Willow, while trying to control Remus.

may 2, 2017 (part 2)
On this day, it has been 19 years since may 2, 1998
On this day, Edward Remus Lupin cries. He thinks of the parents he never got to know. He thinks of the parents he does know, even if they are not really his parents. He visits the parents he lost, and hugs the ones he has. He lost one family 19 years ago, but has another now. He hugs his brothers, and sister thankful for them. On this day, Edward Remus Lupin mourns his parents, but loves his family now.
On this day Victoire Apolline Weasley turns 17. She had never enjoyed her birthday. Sure it was fun, but having your birthday on the day your family and family’s friends died? Not so fun, she had decided once she understood what had happened all those years ago. She comforts her family, and enjoys what she can of her birthday. This year was different though. It was her 17th birthday, and her family tried as hard as they could to make it fun. On this day, Victorie Apolline Weasley does what she always has, celebrating the end of the war instead of celebrating her birthday.
On this day Jane Nymphadora Weasley feels alone. Sure she’s “technically part of the family” but she doesn’t feel like it. She isn’t even in the same position as Teddy. Teddy knew who his parents were, and understands that Harry and Ginny were also his parents, just in a different way. She loves her dad, and the rest of her family, and wouldn’t leave them for the world, she just wonders who her biological parents were. She thinks about what would have happened if the war had never happened. She probably never would have been born then, or would be with her biological parents, and the world would definitely be different, and she never wishes the war hadn’t happened, as she knows it saved many more people, and she never wishes to leave her dad and cousins. On this day, Jane Nymphadora Weasley realises it doesn’t matter who her biological parents were, because she has one amazing dad here, and some fantastic cousins and aunts, uncles and grandparents.
On this day Molly Credella Weasley wonders. She wonders why her father has always been different then her uncles. She wonders how on earth her parents met, as they were completely different. She wonders about her aunt Lucy, who she never got to met. It’s not that she doesn’t know about the war, just that she doesn’t know her parents’ involvement. On this day, Molly Credella Weasley simply mourns the friends lost in the war, as she always has.
On this day, Dominique Ginevra Weasley celebrates. She celebrates her sister’s birthday, and the winning of the war 19 years before. Sure she wasn’t alive, but she’s seen her parents’, and uncle’s and aunt’s reactions to anything about the war, and she knew what happened after all the years since she had been able to understand. On this day, Dominique Ginevra Weasley, who is a quiet, withdrawn girl, celebrates like every year.
On this day, Fred Rapier Weasley feels bad. He feels as though he has not fully lived up to the name Fred, after his uncle who died fighting. He feels as though he has not made his dad feel any better, as he is completely different from his uncle he thinks. On this day, Fred Rapier Weasley wishes his uncle had never died.
On this day, James Sirius Potter helps his parents. He knows he needs to be strong in place of his parents and older brother. He knows he needs to be strong for Lily, who cries when her parents cry. He thinks about his namesakes, and what they died fighting for. On this day, James Sirius Potter is proud to be named after two of the most amazing men he had ever heard of (besides his dad of course).
On this day, Lucy Anne Weasley thinks about her aunt. All she knew was that it was her mum’s sister, she was named Lucy, that she and her dad had been friends, that she had introduced her mum to her dad, and that she had died of her injuries soon after the war. She wishes her mum and dad would tell her more, but knows better than to ask. On this day, Lucy Anne Weasley thinks of all the unanswered questions she’ll have until she’s much older.
On this day, Rose Minerva Weasley reads. She reads to distract her from the sadness of the day. She reads to learn more about that day. She reads to her mum, to help her mum. She hugs her brother, and cuddles with her parents. She plays with her cousins when they see each other. On this day, Rose Minerva Weasley thinks of how lucky she was to have parents like hers.
On this day, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy plays with his mum. Deep down he is thinking about everything he has ever been told about the war, and why his family is disliked. He knows voicing these thoughts would only upset his parents, who already were upset. His mum, pregnant is lost deep in thought, and Scorpius thinks it must be about her best friend who died in the battle. On this day, Scorpius vows to protect the sibling he’s soon to have.
On this day, Albus Severus Potter wonders. He wonders about his name. Sure, he thinks, I get the Albus, after Dumbledore, who was apparently one of dad’s role model’s, but why Severus, he wonders. Everything he’d ever heard was that Severus Snape had bullied all students not in Slytherin, so what compelled his dad to name him after a bully, Albus thinks. He cuddles with his parents, and brothers, and sister on the couch to watch movies, and spend time together. On this day, Albus Severus Potter thinks about how the war changed his parents, and what they were like before the war.
On this day, Louis Cabot Weasley is excited for his sister. She turns 17 today he thinks when he wakes up, before remembering what the day also was. Saddened by this revelation, he vowed to be happy, and make his sister’s birthday as amazing as he could. He was too young to really understand the war, but knew how bad it was, and what it had done to their family. On this day, Louis Cabot Weasley was cheerful for the sake of his sister.
On this day, Roxanne Alicia Weasley holds her dad’s hand. She holds his hand hoping for warmth and guidance as usual, but finds it cold, and sad. She gets why he’s sad, but hopes that if she holds her dad’s hand and channels as much warmth as she can, that he’ll feel better. On this day, Roxanne Alicia Weasley innocently tries to make her dad feel better, not understanding he just needed time.
On this day, Lily Luna Potter hugs her dad. She hugs her mum. She hugs Teddy. She hugs James. She hugs Albus. Every person Lily sees in her family, she hugs. Usually, it is that the adult is holding Lily, but today it seems the other way to her, she knows today is different and that she’s holding them, and that they need her to be strong, and serious. On this day, Lily Luna Potter devotes herself to comforting those she loves.
