It’s been twenty years since the Battle of Hogwarts on May 2, 1998.
I am sure many of you still remember that world, and I am forever grateful that our children will not know what living like that was like.
There were many things to celebrate today, twenty years ago. The end of a battle, the end of a war, the return of loved ones, and the good who won. But there was also many things to mourn. The loss of innocence and childhood, the destroyed homes and school, the ruin of relationships and families, and the loss of our friends and homes.
Today we are here to celebrate everything we gained yes, but also everything we lost.
Today we are here to honor all the brave witches and wizards who gave their lives so we could raise our children in a safe world.
Remus Lupin.
Remus was loved by all who knew him. Some of us knew him as a friend, a classmate, a coworker, a fellow Order member, or even as Professor. For those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember how he always managed to know just the right thing to help a person. From a comforting word of advice, to a loving hug, to a simple bar of chocolate, Remus Lupin was the friend everyone wants.
Nymphadora Tonks.
Tonks always knew how to make someone smile. Everyone she met has a story to share of how made them laugh when they were down, how she made them smile when they felt there was nothing left to smile at. She was a mother, a daughter, a friend, an Order member, an auror, and metamorphmagus. She was known for using her abilities to help others. She was strong, and confident. I once asked her why do you choose to have pink hair, purple hair, red hair, a pig’s nose, a duck’s beak, and even a mushroom like nose when you could choose any look. She told me that in this time of sadness and conformity, why fit in when she could use her abilities as a Metamorphmagus to bring happiness to those around her. She was stubborn, and loud in a way that only made you love her more.
Colin Creevey.
Colin was fiercely loyal and brave. I am sure we can all remember the small eleven year old boy who came to Hogwarts. He was exceedingly curious, and was a great friend. When he saw a friend suffering, he immediately would drop everything to be there for him. When I had no friends at the end of a rather tough first year, he, despite knowing everything I had done, was the first person to express any interest in being my friend. He loved photography. He could always be found wandering the castle with a camera. While he rarely got in front of the camera, those few times are cherished by those close to him. Colin had a way of spreading hope with that camera. During that year of war when he was gone, I found it hard to find hope when I knew that I wouldn’t be able to look up to find him pointing a camera at my face. He was the first best friend I ever had.
Fred Wesley.
Fred was an unbelievably wonderful person. He just had this effect on everyone he met. He dropped out of school in the final few months of his seventh year with George. He told us all that full-time education just wasn’t right. So they left school, and successfully opened a shop together. Growing up with six brothers taught me many things: how to eat quickly, how to punch, how to yell, and how to fly. But growing up with Fred and George taught me that anything is possible if you’ve only got enough nerve. Fred was always smiling. He was loud, and annoying. He got under my skin, and teased me relentlessly. But he was my brother. And without him I would not be the same person. Fred was the brother I may have sworn was the worst, but—and don’t tell the others—really was the best.
May 2, 1998 was a day that should be celebrated. But it is also a day we should remember, and reflect. For without the brave sacrifice of our loved ones, the world we get to live in today would not be this way.
I would like to leave you all with a quote from a poem I once read. To me this quote speaks to the pain we all felt after the war, and how we all came together to live again. “We must bring our our own light to the darkness.”
—a speech given by Ginny Weasley at the Remembrance Ball on May 2, 2018 to mark twenty years since the Battle of Hogwarts was fought and the Second Wizarding War won.

Molly Weasley went to every single one of her grandkids’ Quidditch games.
When she had grandkids playing against each other, she had different scarves representing both houses.
She would cheer when either got the point.
Once Arthur was retired, he joined her for them all.

Susan Bones’ entire family was killed in the first wizarding war.
Her uncle, aunt and cousins were all murdered in their home one night.
Her grandparents were killed soon after.
Her parents and older brother were killed while out shopping and Susan was with her aunt Amelia.
Her aunt took her in and they went into hiding until the end of the war. She was raised by her aunt until her aunt died in the summer before her sixth year.
After that she went to live with her friend Hannah Abbott during the holidays. After the war she lived with Hannah until graduation

After the war Ginny had to wear glasses. She was hit by a spell during the battle that no one knew how to fix, and it left her with terrible vision.
Harry loved her with glasses. He thought they made her even more beautiful. She disagreed. Most of the time she wore contacts.
Harry loved in the morning when she walked downstairs with her hair in a messy bun, still in pajamas, her glasses a little crooked, and with that sleepy smile she gave him when she saw him.

When the Triwizard Tournament came around again, Harry, Fleur, and Viktor took one look at each other at all said no.
They tried to keep it from happening. They all went to their schools and their Ministries, but the Ministries would not listen. McGonagall tried her hardest to prevent, but to no avail.
And so with heavy hearts the three hoped that no death would come of it.

Teddy refused to listen to the werewolf lectures in Defense.
He would get up at walk out.
He would gladly listen to Hagrid’s in Care of Magical Creatures, as Hagrid’s were factually correct, and in no way degrading.

Ginny took care of Crookshanks and Pigwidgeon for Hermione and Ron while they were on the run.
Pigwidgeon went with her to Hogwarts, while Crookshanks stayed at the Burrow.
Both survived the war, and were returned to Ron and Hermione, and stayed with them until they died.
Crookshanks became the infamous family cat, that no one outside of Hermione, and Rose liked.

Once the cousins found out about Lily's abusive boyfriend, the teachers had to switch him out of any of classes with anyone related to Lily or Lily herself.
The teachers and other students even had to physically hold some of them back to keep them from attacking the boy.
Not that they were defending him. They all thought he deserved it, but attacking him wouldn’t help anyone. Lily didn’t want it, she just wanted to move on and forget it.

Molly Weasley and Lily Evans were really good friends.
Lily and Arthur met at a protest by the Association of Witches and Wizards for Peace (AWWP) Arthur immediately asked if she was a Weasley which lily responded no I'm a muggleborn. Arthur of course got really excited because he could maybe get some of his questions answered. Later he brought Lily to the Burrow because she had heard all about his children and wanted to meet them. Lily and Molly bonded instantly and were friends for the rest of Lily's life. So when her youngest son befriended the son of one of her best friends, Molly was ready to take care of the son of her best friend.
Molly told Harry about her relationship with his mum after the war was over, and he had so many questions.
When Molly died Lily was one of the first to greet her with a big smile and a massive hug. The two quickly caught up on everything and Lily couldn't stop crying on how lucky she was that one of her best friends could take care of her not-so-little boy and provide a loving home for him. Molly was beyond happy that she was with her friend again and that her friend wasn't upset with her for not always being able to keep Harry safe.

Ginny wrote letters to Harry, Hermione, and Ron each almost every day.
She also wrote to Kate and Colin.
She never could send them but instead hid them away until the war ended when she gave them the sets, keeping copies for herself. She placed the letters to Colin with him when he was buried.
It took Harry forever to read them all. They became a form of storytelling in the family. The kids would always ask to read the letters, especially with the letters Harry had written and given to Ginny after the war.

update as to why I’m not posting
Hey.
I wish I could post, but last Wednesday I was warming up before a volleyball game and I got hit in the head with a ball. The next day I went to the doctors and I had a mild concussion. I went back in to get cleared today and turns out my concussion was worse than they originally thought. I can’t be on electronics, read, or do physical activity at all today. So techniquelly I’m breaking the rules but I thought I should update you all.
As soon as the headaches start to stop I can start going back to normal.
Once that happens I’ll have to catch up on homework but I’ll be back on once that happens.
Thank you!

I'm not nervous. I just don't want to go.
My alarm went off early and I was not in the mood.
Have you already gone back to school, if not when do you go back?
What grade/year are you going into?

may 2, 2017
On this day, it has been 19 years since may 2, 1998
On this day, Harry James Potter sat at his desk at home. He couldn’t manage people, or the questions the reporters would ask, even though the office is closed . He desperately tried to avoid the date on the many calendars around the house, and breaks each quill he attempts to write with. He finally gives up, opting for hugs from his kids instead. His scars twinge, not physically, but with the pain of loss.  On this day, Harry James Potter feels guilty for surviving.
On this day, Ginevra Molly Weasley Potter does not go to work. Instead she holds her kids close. And when the Daily Prophet comes through the window, she almost cries when she reads the heading. She needs to breathe, or else she’ll cry in front of her kids. She holds the pictures close of her friends, gone for so long, but which seems so recent. On this day, Ginevra Molly Weasley Potter thanks God, if there even is a God she thinks, for saving Harry, but curses him for taking Fred.
On this day, Ronald Billius Weasley stays home. The shop is closed, and he spends the day holding Rose and Hugo instead. He visits his parents, and George because he knows they need them. He holds Hermione as they go about their daily routine. On this day, Ronald Billius Weasley is beyond grateful that Hermione is okay.
On this day, Hermione Jean Weasley-Granger does not go into work. Even though her assistant and boss told her to stay home, she has no want to go into work. She comforts her family, but the moment she’s alone she cries. She reads her cases for the coming week, and all the “issues” people are having. On this day, Hermione Jean Weasley-Granger cries for all those who never got to see what the “issues” were now.
On this day, George Weasley stays inside. He remembers the laughter and the pranks, and the jokes he shared with his twin. He looks at his son, and sees his brother in him. He smiles, knowing Fred wouldn’t want him upset. He visits Fred with the rest of his family, but stays behind after all have left. On this day, George Weasley remembers his fallen twin, and the laughter they shared.
On this day, Neville Longbottom, and his family visit his parents, retelling the story of that day 19 years ago. He cries the same way he did the first time around, and every time after.  His mum squeezes his hand through every moment as always. On this day Neville Longbottom gets to be with his parents in the most “normal” way it’ll ever be.
On this day, Draco Lucius Malfoy watches Scorpius. He watches him hug Astoria, and watches him smile as he runs around in the back yard. He smiles at his wife, pregnant with their second. He promises to himself to never make his father’s mistakes, and to never pressure his son the way he was. On this day, Draco Lucius Malfoy is thankful for the choices he and Astoria made after the war.
On this day, Luna Lovegood Scamander is home from Brazil with her husband and twin boys. As she unpacks, she reads the Daily Prophet, and remembers. She remembers the pain, and the loss, and the hurt. But she also remembers the love, and the victory they won that day, and the hope of a better world. On this day, Luna Lovegood Scamander is thankful for the memories, as they only make the good times better.
On this day, the survivors, and their families met up at the Remembrance Ball. They heard, and gave speeches. They ate dinner together. They remembered times before the war, and during the war. They talked about the hurt they felt. They danced. But most of all they remembered the love and hope for a better world their friends died for. On this day, the survivors and their families thanked those they lost for helping make a better world.

long lost fanfiction
So last summer I read a fanfiction from Ginny's pov in deathly hallows at Hogwarts. It isn't dumbledore' army and the year of darkness or a call to arms. There was one distinct moment where Ginny, Neville, and Luna are all walking into hogwarts on September 1 and they see a muggleborn kid being dragged off by death eaters and Neville and Luna have to hold Ginny back to keep her from running after the kid. Does anyone know it? If you know it please let me know because it was really good and one of my favorites and I'd like to read it again.
