idk why im in such a bad mood rn but it actually PISSES ME TF OFF how the entire marauders fandom collectively decided to take this bum-ass loser character with one discernable impact on the storyline (regulus. im talking about regulus) and make him a super complex, three-dimensional MAIN character in the era that’s being literally paired with JAMES POTTER(???) when they could’ve taken a character who AREADY has existing complexities and everything they could ever want and develop them. but they won’t because that character is a fucking woman ☠️☠️
the way the black sisters would have the entire fandom in a fucking chokehold if they were boys. do you actually think sirius and regulus would be as cherished as they are now if they were women? hell fucking no, regulus would be hated on so badly. the way we were given narcissa and fucking andromeda too? here’s the entire fandom yapping on and on about how cool regulus is for rebelling against the dark lord when narcissa was doing it and fucking getting away with it too (because she’s better and doesn’t suck ass). here’s andromeda going against her entire bloodline ON HER OWN but yet shes still so overshadowed by sirius (who literally came after her). then you got bellatrix who is canonly one of the most powerful (and cuntiest) witches in the hp-verse and you decide to go and develop BARTY instead. think about it. they’re both crazy except one is more of a loser and is a male so of course the fandom will choose him.
and then. of course. lily evans who is literally the mother of the entire verse itself is still out here fighting for literal recognition and development from the fandom. and those mfs still give it to regulus instead ☠️☠️

Current day Wolfstar(let me preface this by saying, you should take liberties when it comes to these character, JKR sucks, these are just my gripes with how the fandom currently perceives these two)
Aka I’m annoyed so I’m making it everyone else’s problem. The “stupid feminine Sirius who’s 5’4 and who’s oh so much uglier than Remus, and he’s basically just a charity case!” STOP IT, stop it stop it, stop it. I have zero problem with feminine Sirius, go wild, my problem is with relating femininity to weakness and stupidity.
Also, I am so, SO sick of “big alpha 6’5 hot Gryffindor Casanova Remus Lupin”, not only does it not make sense, it’s annoying, and it reinforces gender roles. Remus Lupin spent his whole life being told he was basically a big scary monster, who can’t be around other children, HOW do you think he would react to being perceived as this big angry asshole with no regard for the people around him?
ALSO, Remus Lupin was NOT drop dead gorgeous, I’m sorry to say, he was not the hottest guy around(that is still my darling man and I will not tolerate anything against my darling man), he was a scrawny werewolf with scars, and premature lines and shabby clothing, if anything, he looked like an anemic average British man in the seventies, if not below average.
Sirius was literally “Hogwarts’ pretty boy”. I’m not saying this to make Remus seem like a charity case, because, wolfstar is pointless when you make one the “man” or “woman”, or “hot” and “ugly”, i’m saying this because Casanova Remus Lupin annoys me, if ANYONE was “Casanova of Gryffindor Tower” it was Sirius Black. (I also think people forget the negative connotation with the term “Casanova”, which is sometimes annoying to see when talking about Remus, or Sirius)
Also, I could talk about how canonically, Sirius was the tallest marauder, or how a huge part of his character was HOW hot he was, I could talk about how he was hotter than Regulus, i COULD talk about how Remus wasn’t the smartest marauder, I could talk about how Sirius is canonically an overly clever wizard, I could talk about how if anyone is aggressive between the two, it was Sirius, but, I don’t think I will, because that will seem like I’m trying to push Sirius being the “aggressive man” of the two, and Remus being the “ugly woman” of the two, and I don’t believe that,
Wolfstar has now become just a way to reinforce gender roles on two characters, and that’s gross, making Remus the smart aggressive “man” of the relationship, and Sirius the stupid small “woman” of the relationship, is just gross dude.
Wolfstar doesn’t HAVE to fall into gender norms, that’s not necessary, neither of them HAVE to be the “man” or “woman”, that’s NOT necessary.
Remus being a funky looking guy, while Sirius is a hot nepo baby, is so beautiful, and it makes their relationship so much more interesting than “man aggressive and hot” and “woman ugly but pretty and pathetic”.
Anyways, let Remus be a skrunkly little man, and let Sirius be hot, also STOP ASSIGNING GENDER ROLES TO THEM OH MY GOOOOOD DHFBFJDJCJ

Why the fuck, when the Fidelius Charm was cast, did they not think to make a goddamn unbreakable vow !? Like, it's so obious ???
And Sirius ? They can literally take a memory into a pensine something and watch it, they have legilimency for crying out loud !! They have veritaserum ! So whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ??? It's so stupid!
And Dumbledore ! oh this sorry excuse of a human being !
He knew that Peter was the secret keeper ! So WHY IN THE EVERLY MOTHERLY FLIBBIDY FUCK didn't he said so ???
It makes me so fucking crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
And everyone that is like 'ThE BoY WhO LiVeD' 'hE DefEtEd tHe DaRk lOrD' erh, NO ?! It was thanks to LILY ?? He was just an INFANT who had the chance to be under a protecting spell created by LILY when she SACRIFIED HERSELF for her son ? Why is everybody forgeting about her ??
Oh, and don't start me about Snape !
'hE wAs BulLiEd bY JaMeS, HiS WoRsE MeMoRy iS HiM BeinG BuLliEd' Yeah, because he called Lily a slur
'hE WaS jUsT MiSuNdErStoOd' No, he was a death eater, fully believing in Voldy's BS,he only changed side because the girl he was obsessed with was in danger... Because of HIM ! People tend to forget that he was the one searching and giving the prophecy to the dArK LoRd, resulting in Lily's death.
And, 'JaMeS WaS jUsT A BulLy' We only sees him throught Snape's pov, aka, when he got 'bullies'c after he called Lily a mudblood.
And if James is a bully, doesn't that mean the Snape is one too ? No because :
-He made fun of Hermione for her teeth
-He bullies his students
-he exposed Remus when he had no reason for, since he is the one brewing the wolfsbane potion
-he hates and bullies the son of 'the love of his life' because Harry had the infortune of looking like his father, that Snape resents
-favoritism
-he was a death eater
-he is a racist
-he is a blood supremacis
-he is Neville worst fear, the boy who literally had his parents torturedby Bellatrix. Shouldn't she be his boggart ?? But noooo, it's our 'wonderful and misunderstood' Snape
-when he hugged Lily's body, while her son was crying his eyes out, being hurt, seeing his mother die, having blood on his forehead, and then leaving the house without even comforting or taking Harry to Saint-Mungos !!
-blamed James for bullying him, when he created Sectum Sempra, and was into dark magic !
-trying to make Harry expelled

modern snape’s group would unironically start one of those alpha man podcasts and the marauders would find it so hilarious they’d sit there listening each week and then make a podcast themselves mimicking everything those guys said and 90% of the thing would be them wheezing and crying laughing into the mics but people would gobble it up
they’d also bring the girls in for special episodes and act like really dumb guys asking dumb questions and they’d all just be posing themselves and secretly shittalking like snape and mulciber and stuff but it’s also really helpful and teaches people actual stuff. like they’d pretend to be dumb guys not knowing how sanitary products work and then the girls would sit there “makinf fun” of them and teaching them about these things and saying all the shit they wish they could actually say to dumb mysogynistic men’s faces all the time
sometimes the royal court (skittles) would get bought on there too and it would get even funnier because they’d all be playing different characters making fun on “alpha” males and trying not to laugh
james and sirius would love it so much they’d have their own spin off podcast where they just get to be normal dumb like the basement yard podcast

Are all the books in hp hand written? With quill and ink? Because they don't have any typewriters and thy definitely don't have computers.
So can anyone edit a library book, without madam pince or anyone realising?
What if the only reason those books knew how to defeat horcruxes was due to Regulus' own research. And he added it in so he could remember. Years later, Albus begins his search and takes those books out of the library and finds Reg's notes.
And Albus learns how two of his students died. Regulus in his attempt to destroy voldie, and Pandora, whose random experiments make a lot more sense now.

there is nothing in the marauders fandom that absolutely BREAKS me more than the Black brothers. they grew up in a abusive household with only each other and then sirius has to escape that torment, leaving regulus to become the heir. quick reminder:
sirius never found the body of his baby brother. he just woke up one day and regulus was missing.

marauders era (very?) unpopular opinions
i don't really Iike the rockstar-ified regulus characterization. i feel like he's been sort of sirius-fied and, while i am all for different characterizations and different viewpoints on certain characters, i, for one, can't see regulus as that. (i can go in depth about my view and characterization of regulus in dms, if anyone wants to hear it.)
this might not be as unpopular, but i do not mind the transfem sirius headcanon. while i do not headcanon it myself, i've made a post about it in which i explained my stance on it.
i love remus lupin with all my heart, but if i had to pick a least favorite marauder, he would be my choice. in my opinion, he is slightly overrated and, to be honest, the least interesting marauder. james has so much unexplored potential, sirius is a dilemma in his own, and peter's betrayal and dynamic with other characters pre and post betrayal is something so intriguing to me. remus is certainly an interesting read in his own, i just prefer the others more.
atyd is not the best fic this fandom has. of course, it's well-written and, despite the characters not fully aligning with my view of them, it really is tied into the 70s, which is something i always look for in fics. however, the use of slurs really put me off and, generally, despite atyd being a good fic, i have read far better than it.
james has only become popular recently because of jegulus and, if you go in the james potter tag, a lot of the posts are, in a way or another, related to jegulus. i've seen the same phenomenon with jily, though to a smaller extent, and, to some, it seems like james is a person inherently tied to the relationships he is in, and i think that him as an individual is far more important and complex than his relationships.
this is not exactly an unpopular opinion (to some extent), but the marauders era nonmen are criminally underrated, and, in certain cases, they are more compelling than the men. seeing the fact that their characters are so unexplored, that leaves a lot of space for people to be creative and work around certain characters, each character in different people's grasp.
tying into the former, there is no right way to "create" a certain character. differences of opinion will always exist, regardless if it is a fandom opinion or not. certain ways to characterize a certain character. tying into my first opinion, just because i do not like that way of portraying regulus does not mean that other people don't. some people agree will agree with me, and some people won't, and that is absolutely fine. my cup of tea is not everyone else's, too.
this is not exactly an opinion that is tied into the marauders, but it is, to some extent. i do believe that lyall was a good father. not the best, admittedly, but i do believe he tried his best to offer remus a decent life and, as much as i hate citing canon, there is canon evidence for it. i do choose to ignore canon, though, and the characterization of lyall that i am fully in love with is the characterization of a flawed man that is trying his best to be a good person. again, tying in the former point, no one is forced to agree with me.

Sometimes I actually physically hurt whenever I remember literally everything that Regulus, even canonically, went though.
Like even without James what the fuck. Like I’m going to strangle JKR and make her write a happy ending for him because what the hell. Who did she hate named Regulus. He genuinely has one of the saddest stories/backgrounds in the marauders fandom.

So.
We all know that Regulus Black, also known as RAB, became a death eater at sixteen, discovered the existence of Tom Riddle's Horcruxes, and then died at age eighteen while getting one of them so it could be destroyed, right?
I honestly think, that if he hadn't died, he could've defeated Voldemort. Maybe not single handedly, since doing it himself got him killed. But he could've done it.
He could've told the Marauders about Peter. He could've destroyed all the Horcruxes. I don't think Dumbledore would've taken him on as a spy though, at least not very willingly, seeing as I don't think Regulus had a single atom in his body that was loyal to Dumbledore in anyway.
Yeah, Dumbledore and him would probably not have gotten along.
Anyways, he could've done it, he would have lived, Sirius would've stayed out of jail, Remus would still have his friends, James and Lily would've lived, Harry would've had a happy life, Regulus would've been potions teacher (not Snape), and overall everyone would've had a happy ending.
(Except Peter) (And Dumbledore, he would be fired from his position as Headmaster and Minnie would take his place because she is a queen)
