You know, when people attack or defend Catradora, there's something EVERYONE seems to forget when they're discussing Catra and Adora's relationship. And that is, until the end of the series, they weren't IN a relationship. They were bad friends who became enemies, they learned lessons and became friends again, and THEN they entered a relationship.

Bonus: Also, this isn't Sesame Street. The show's not teaching anyone how they should act in relationships. It's supposed to be entertaining NOT educational. Differentiating from fiction and reality is the duty of the viewer, no matter how old they are.

What I wish the She-Ra fandom was:

People who acknowledge that Catradora is abusive and probably shouldn't have been romanticized in a kids show, but still enjoy it as the dark romance turned wish fulfillment wlw it is.

People who believe that Adora, Catra, Glimmer, and Bow should all be living happy fulfilling lives full of queerness by the end of the show, but that Catra should be living that life away from the people she traumatized.

These two groups are friends.

What the She-Ra fandom is:

People who are in complete denial that Catradora is abusive.

People who think Catra is irredeemable and should die.

These two groups hate each other.

see, the main reason that glimmadora works is because they were always on equal footing, even when they were not getting along. neither glimmer nor adora used their power over the other, and neither of them took the other for granted. even when they were fighting, you could sense a mutual respect there. adora was not scared to stand her own ground, if she knew she was right.

and when glimmer said something insensitive to adora in s4, adora was allowed to be mad at her. she was allowed to not immediately forgive glimmer, even when she tried to apologize something catra never did. whereas if this same conflict happened with catra, adora would be forced to apologize instead. she would be the one to take responsibility and try to make catra happy.

in catra's and adora's relationship, catra always had power over adora. she knew the right things to say if she wanted to shut adora up or make her feel guilty for something that wasn't her fault. and catra knew this. she literally brags to lonnie about her girlfriend being easy to manipulate. isn't that so cute?

adora never had to walk on eggshells around glimmer, she didn't have to apologize for every little thing. she didn't have to constantly put glimmer's feelings above her own. her efforts never went unrewarded. glimmer didn't take adora for granted, unlike catra. even after all their conflict in s4, when adora asks glimmer to stay, she does. she respects adora's feelings and decides to compromise.

It speaks volumes that most Bow stans are black people who offer constructive critisism of the show and that Glimbow defenders who're Glimmer stans always appreciate Bow on his own too while 'Spop Salt' people pretty much never actually bother to make Bow content other than trashing his writing with no fixes because they only care about Adora and their weird ass CONFIRMED age gap Entrapta ships and they ignore Netossa too and i'd go as far to say if Lonnie wasn't a lightskin(speaking as one)and a character who didn't have enough screentime to be written with flaws they'd bash her like they do Catra.As a black woman who selfships with Bow and an abuse victim who's succesfully breaking the cycle of abuse not because i'm 'naturally good' but because like Adora i was lucky enough to have friends that gave me the kindness that made me realize i was abused and could choose to a good person,keep Bow's name out of your performative mouths-Niggas ain't your guiltrip card you can use but not actually care about as ourselves

I know this going to trigger Catradora stans/fans and mainly the entire Catra stans/fan/fan base/fandom; but, To all Catra fans Catradora fans. Shadow Weaver deserved redemption and a second chance not Catra. SW changed Catra did not. SW cared about Adora. Catra did not care about Adora. I stand with Shadow Weaver and Adora. Please don't defend Catra. She's a toxic person. Shadow Weaver is less toxic than Catra. Catra is more toxic than Shadow Weaver.

You know what I love, when fandoms have fics that are fully flushed-out storylines that are occasionally better than the source material. Like No Paths Are Bound, and The Rigel Black Chronicles, were godsends.

I firmly believe that every fandom should have a fic that the whole fandom knows that takes place in-universe.

Like if I see another person say that the ultimate Klance fic is Dirty Laundry I'm gonna flip my shit, like no 😭😭, I want something that's long, in-universe, the fan-favorites survive, the characters are flushed out, and it doesn't completely forget about the other characters.

There is also the whole "catradora toxic and harmful and the creator deserves 10000 years in gay hell for his gay sins" while also uplifting glimmeradora as the pure unproblematic sinless option, and also saying "catra bad she should die forever" while saying that hordak deserves love and vice versa

youre completely right and i have. so many issues. with the latter. i didnt even bother to mention the hordak fans who want catra to suffer because i dont want to indulge that subset. i think the entrapdak fans who dismiss the rest of the show are a bigger issue, because they encompass more people. at least most people get that hordak is, bare minimum, in the same boat as catra.

the show-hating glimmadoras are also a really tiny, really loud subset of weirdos. i see one of them show up every six months and it's a stream of posts that at first are innocuously pro-glimmadora, and then in comes the fountain of catra hate and bow-phobia. then i block that person and i am happy and ignorant for the next six months.

while the former group is usually older people, in their fourties, the latter group is teenagers. often under 17. it's insane what demographics she-ra reaches!
