I have had enough painful endings in real life, give me happy in my fantasy world. It can be at the last second, it can be a single sentence, even a single word. I love this gay ass show with its literally life ending injuries that heal immediately, but only when convenient to the plot, and its ridiculous use of modern phrases, and its laughing in the face of historical accuracy, and its kissing the face of the fans instead of trying to outwit them, and the way everyone involved in the show seem to go 'I KNOW RIGHT! I'M EXCITED TOO!' instead of mocking the fans

So I posted an Instagram reel as I was working on this because oil pastel is fun to work with. And Taika liked it, and I panicked...and now here's the finished piece.

at a certain point i think we need to acknowledge that art is very rarely created accidentally. if you can see a theme in a work than that theme was, more likely than not, at least somewhat intentional on behalf of the creator. you don't put a piece of yourself out into the world without thinking about what it means at least a little bit.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask. I am in a bit of a trouble as I wrote a 8k word chapter. I am wondering if this is just too long. Cutting it in half wouldn't be satisfactory, but doable. Would it be better to cut it or leave it that long? I might be able to cut some things from the story and come down to 7k. I need advice.

I am merely a tumblr mod, so this advice is coming from an avid fic reader and not the OTW hivemind (if there is one, I have not yet been invited to that groupchat)

Do what brings you joy. Writing fic is supposed to be fun. It is a labor of love that you send out into the void because your passion cannot be contained.

There is not a specific wordcount that makes a chapter Correct. I (personally) have never in my days noticed how long a chapter was, since I always click on Entire Work.

I’ve been translating and relaying statements from ex admins for the last few days in the most objective way possible.

But I’m personally so, so proud of my fellow french qsmp fans for standing up so strongly for workers rights. I’m so proud that french ccs are supporting unconditionally those who speak out about the unfair working conditions they’ve been though. I’m so proud that french ex admins were brave enough to come out with their stories. I’m so proud that an actual french syndicate is looking at the case to make sure that the QSMP can go forward and respect workers rights around the world.

After months of the frenchs ccs, admins, and community being sidelined in the QSMP sphere, I’m so proud that we are the one to spearhead changes for better work conditions and representation.

Didn’t think it would, but it’s making me very very emotional.

Yes, ultimately any decision about what happens, if anything, with OFMD will be down to networks, the creators themselves, and complicated money and legal rights issues. But being very very public with the fan desire for a third season, that the metrics were and are outstanding for the show, and that its cancellation doesn't make sense from a business or audience perspective, reinforces chances of another streamer picking it up (or Max reversing the decision).

So do be noisy. At the very least you let the people who made it know how much you love it, and that's not negligible.

So from what I've gathered from interviews, it seems like before anyone had been cast in Our Flag Means Death aside from Blackbeard, David and Taika were talking about the role of Stede and David said something like "He should have the same vibe as Murray from Flight of the Conchords, who could we possibly get?" and Taika went "Literally there's nothing stopping you from calling Rhys." Meanwhile, Rhys knew about the project and was like "Wow that sounds great! I can't wait to see it :)" and was surprised to get the call, doubly surprised when it was for the lead. David and co. auditioned more than just him, but the other actors, while talented, all played Stede in a way that was kind of unlikable? Before taping his own audition, Rhys called Taika like "I really want this, do you have any advice?" and Taika was like "Calm down it's literally perfect for you." So he did, and the rest is history.
