hi ryen! i recently posted a yoongi fic up on wattpad and took a bit of inspo for it's intro from your intro there for 3tan, i hope you don't mind :)) but if you do, i'll be more than glad to revise the intro chapter! i'm just super new to actually publishing series so i'm looking into fics i really like for format inspo so i can get more used to it ! i chose you bc u were the one who inspired me to actually publish the series that i've been working on for a bit now (felt so after reading 3tan, AMAZING fic btw, i mean it sm !!!) so thank u sm for being an inspiration!

ah.. what is the fic, babe. what does the intro look like. did you list three tangerines and kithtaehyung as credit for the intro? may i please have the link, too?

this goes for everyone: please ask or let authors know you are wanting to take inspiration from them before you write anything because tbh this ask is very, very jarring to read even if the intentions are good. bc i don’t know if i’m fine with it or not since there’s no link, and idk if the inspo is a retelling, reconstructing, or really just a quick nod.

y’all…. i’ll be honest, there’s been a lot going on over the last few months regarding 3tan. while i am honored and flattered you hold this series in high regard, the multiple instances of no credit being given, or me being told that 3tan has been used after fics have already been posted with no mention in the fic notes, is breaking my creative spirit and is making me question whether i even continue this series or not.

the one thing that would keep me going is the sole reason that it helps people, but i would be miserable continuing because of the constant feeling that anything i pour my heart into will be taken from me without even a courtesy question if it could be used or not.

if this is shocking to read, it’s because i’ve been keeping all of these instances private. but i am at my limit and i truly don’t know what to do now.

Fixation/Interest-Specific Flag Templates !! + info

These flag templates are for -kayic, -hypic and -spinnic genders, continue reading for a quick guide + links to additional info !!

From left -> right: -kayic -> -hypic -> -spinnic

Definitions of each:

-kayic is a suffix related to liking/enjoying/loving something without it being a special interest/hyperfixation. ; can be used by anyone. (could not find coin link, i sourced from this carrd)

-hypic is a neurogender suffix related to hyperfixations, aka hyperfixgenders. ; can only be used by those who experience hyperfixations.

-spinnic (also can be spelled spinic) aka -fascic or -spinny is a neurogender suffix related to special interests, aka spinigenders. ; can only be used by those who experience special interests. note: spinnic and spinny credits are to the creator, yet the post is unfortunately non-existent. if you have more info on this lmk!

Examples:

From left -> right: bugkayic -> bughypic -> bugspinnic

For a general interest/hyperfix/spin involving bugs! Additional Notes:

Templates pictured at the top are FREE to use, credit is optional but HIGHLY appreciated! I am not requiring credit as i did not coin the terms, only made the flag templates for fun! I hope you find them useful.

You do not have to use a transparent image for the subject, but it is recommended for logos or symbols. They may also overlap over the lines of the subject box if wanted! Have fun with it!

You do not have to adhere to how the "gradient" stripes look on the greyscaled templates, you can color them how you like with whatever you feel fits your identity!

You can associate these templates with ANY coined term/suffix (even your own!) relating to interests/hyperfix/spins, BUT please adhere to the definitions of each, as hyperfixations and special interests are for only those who experience them!! Do not use the -hypic and -spinnic flags for something better fit for -kayic!! Thank you!

My Favorite Apps <3

Hello everyone! I recently started my first year at University and I wanted to share some apps i’ve been using. The school year can be difficult to organize but these have helped a lot.

1. Notion- Notion is an app that allows you to have a hub. in this hub you can embed a bunch of subpages. I use this to keep track of my classes, logins, and other things outside of school. There are a lot of tutorials on how to use it since I was overwhelmed at first!

2. Plantie- Plantie is a study timer app. It allows breaks and every time you study you earn coins. With these coins you can buy new plants to watch grow.

3. MinimaList- This app lets you write down all the tasks you need to do in a simple format. You can change the color and add daily reminders.

4. Pinterest- Now i’m sure everyone has pinterest and knows how amazing (addictive) it can be. I made a board for academic inspo like good grades, study tips, and more. I finally use it for other things (and not just Rory Culkin photos but yk..).

5. PromptedJournal- Finding a time to sit down and journal can be difficult. With this app it sends you a new prompt everyday. You can adjust when you want them and how many.

6. ThreeGoodThings- This follows with the journaling but it’s a gratitude journal. It asks you three things you’re grateful for and how it made you feel. It’s a great self reflection app.

7. GoodReads- This app helped me keep on track of the books i’ve read and want to read. It showed me a ton of book recommendations and each book you may be interested in has reviews.

These are just a few apps i’ve been using and they’ve helped keep me organized. I hope everyone is having a stress free and successful school year so far. Wishing for you all to have the best grades!! Take care lovelies <33

What We Left to Burn (2019)

Summary: In the new war-torn world with Ordinaries fighting against the tyrannical Abydus, Apollo and his healing magic are recruited to help any way he can in the war. Through the rigorous training, he meets Cole. A man with destruction powers caught in the tides of war and is permanently injured from the waist down. After Apollo is assigned to take care of Cole’s pain, they both have to figure out what it means to let go.

Meanwhile, after leaving her life as a lab rat behind, Ren attempts to find the last living relative of the scientist who captured her. His son. Through her journey of revenge, she gets a second chance at living and learns the most important thing of all. Kindness.

Drastic Times (2022)

Summary: Set in the late 90s that’s split into three perspectives. One story is of a pair of twins running from the law and their past, another is a housewife making the best of a bad situation, and the last is a “rookie” detective trying to get his friend back.

Detective KASPER MONTE makes a mad dash out of Los Angeles after pulling his sister out of the muck. Again. BLAIR MONTE, an infamous criminal, unfortunately can’t talk her way out of this one. The twins must drive across the country to a safe haven in the American Southwest, confront the dynamic they share, face their own identities, and find their place in the world.

States away in a holy rolling town in Missouri, DELIA WRIGHT struggles to break out of her shell and make the hardest decision of her life: run away for her and her daughter’s safety and threaten her tense relationship with God, or appease her abusive husband and keep up her good Christian lifestyle for everyone’s sake.

Right on Kasper’s trail, Detective REX slowly unravels the twists and turns that is his friend’s past. Along the way, Rex encounters an orphan girl who’s seen more than she should, and as she tags along he must figure out what it means to have a family of his own, and if his mission is really worth it.

how to prepare for the new year ̊ ˖ ॱ ♡

reflect about the past year. here are some ideas:

what did i learned?

which were my favourite experiences?

what went wrong and how i faced it?

what do i wish i spent more time doing? and less time doing?

describe your ideal self for that year. remember to write about:

your emotional intelligence

your personality

your academic/ job life

your social life

your relationship with yourself

your projects

your hobbies

write all your goals and their action plan. use the description as a guide of what goals you want to achieve.

create a bucket list of all the things you want to do this year, like creating an online shop, doing an artistic project, travelling somewhere, etc.

create your vision board based on your goals and your bucket list. here you have how to create an effective vision board:

decide what format do you want. would you prefer to have it as you phone wallpaper or as your computer’s? or would you like to place it in your wall?

think about what would you like to include in your vision board.

create a pinterest board and search for photos which represent all what you want to include. it’s better if the photos are in first person.

open canva and search the template you would like to use.

add the photos and organise them in a cute way!! you can add quotes and affirmations.

when you are finished, save it as a jpg if you want to use as your wallpaper, and as a pdf if you want to print it.

i always include statistics and headcanons. if your server doesn't have a place for musings as a whole, consider creating a little thread in your channel to post musings! same goes for wanted connections, existing connections, etc. -- discord threads are fun to incorporate <3

at the end of the day, the main purpose of your muse channel is to share information about your muse -- so try to keep all of the important stuff as text-only (i.e. don't put important info in graphics and not as text, don't use unicode fonts for headcanons)

this always felt a little daunting to me 😭 like just big blocks of text in a channel .... of my writing .... scary to my brain. consider breaking it up with headings or graphic borders. i.e. make headings using blockquotes or discord's code format function, or create a graphic that's an 800x10 block of color to use as dividers.

also, if you like an admin's channel -- ask if you can take some inspo from it! i've been in servers where my members just replicated my muse channel. i've never minded! have fun in ur new group :D

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

space, for sure. Established Regis's fear of dying in space by making him die in space with Kaidan listening in.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Arguably feeling numb, lost in time as it has Kaidan, Regis, and Zaeed working towards their triad again, Regis and Kaidan reuniting for a brief moment during ME2, and Regis getting some news and slowly getting closure on his resurrection, but it's bittersweet.

Do you write smut. If so what kind?

On occasion. I'm not the best at it, but I range from vanilla to light dom/sub dynamics. I try to stay away from too much detail, can be a bit vague sometimes, and usually don't draw it out. I want to get better, but it's hard... (no pun intended). I have some WIPs that explore those dynamics a bit, especially between the duos in my main triad.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not any published, but I do love them. I'd like to one day write some ME/Star Trek or something along those lines with some universe travelling, but idk if I'll ever put pen to paper.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I have a WIP of Zaeed meeting the Alenkos, some family dynamics with Vikram and Adrian, and Kaidan learning how to Reave as well as telling Zaeed about BAaT, but it's all over the place and I really want to get back to it, but it's not letting me. I think it doesn't help that I haven't established too much about BAaT in my head with Regis, and that writing the Alenko parents is a bit difficult. I love the little universe I've created between ME1-ME2 and I want to explore Kaidan's and Zaeed's grief, their growing relationship, and Kaidan and Hackett dynamics more... I hope to find the inspo one day.

Dialogue, character dynamics/exploration

What are your writing weaknesses?

Too much dialogue, not enough description/action. Hardest part of my WIPs is filling in all the space between dialogue, and my characters can't stop talking.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It's not something I've explored yet, but I prefer having things translated in fic (or formatted in such as way that makes it quick to translate it). It's likely not something I'll do myself.

Publicly? Mass Effect. Privately? Back in middle school I wrote a bit of fic for the Mortal Instruments series, was quite obsessed with it as a teen.

Favourite fic you've ever written?

That's a hard one... honestly, you got me in a chokehold, the fic where Kaidan and Zaeed meet and hookup after Regis's death is one of my favorites. Fun to write, explore, and start dealing with my triad with one meetup at a time. but don't ask about Ryuusei is another fic that I adored writing and exploring my version of Citadel DLC. I need to continue that little series, but writing the casino date with the triad is proving difficult lol.

SKL started rotating in my head again over a unrelated 2000s song that just reminded me of Kaido and Magami-not even joking lol-but upon reflecting on its plot I sometimes wonder if it would’ve been better off if like- they didn’t make new characters and just recycled the base cast just characterization them in a different way ala how Getter does it.

Cause I’ve thought about while I’m generally more biased I think Shin vs Neo feels significantly less flawed compared to SKL despite its episode length for not only having the advantage of “it has a lighter plot where as SKL desperately felt like it needed a longer run time” but because it used all the existing characters before and the characterization isn’t even TOO off, they’re all just kinda water downed versions of themselves. (Neo!Ryoma is a really interesting case out of the whole cast though in terms of characterization compared to his go manga self but I’ll save that for another post)

SKL has the issue of it’s introducing NEW characters we never seen to mazinger but we don’t have a justifiable runtime to get to know most of them, Yuki I feel is the only character who is decently developed due to the focus put on her which is why I consider her the MC over the boys even if there can be more fleshed out about her. Kaido and Magami do have a dynamic that bounces off of each other which is why I like them despite not being super deep but its still not fully developed, kinda worst by the fact we don’t get to know ANYTHING about Kaido and Magami’s origins aren’t entirely explain either- and honestly only feel there for the plot rather than expanding his character even if it HAS the potential to expand upon who he is.

But then I thought how this OVA could’ve been if it was like: Kaido=Koji, Magami=Tetsuya, Yuki=Sayaka. (Jun could be Scarlet ig and the villains could be whoever as followed from base show but they could also still get away with the new villains with this tbh) You could keep everything the same, even to the point of having this be a canon where Koji and Tetsuya aren’t related-IIRC they aren’t even related in the Mazinkasier OVA and Tetsuya explicitly calls him Kabuto which would be weird to call your brother/nephew, which would be funny if in this hypothetical SKL scenario they are more referred to as their last names then first-since even if the SKL trio more obviously took more inspo from the devilman trio they match the archetypes these three from OG mazinger canon had.

I’m sure SKL would still be consider a “not really mazinger” series if all other elements were kept the same given Armageddon still is regarded as “not really getter” in terms of source material accuracy but I do wonder if it’s three episode formate could’ve worked better if it it as another au. That said I still like the SKL boys so I’m not saying this should’ve been it over “GIVING IT 13 PROPER EPISODES FFS” and I do wish they could just be reused in a different mazinger iteration whenever we get one-grendizer getting something so hey, there’s hope and it’s slightly more likely than a new getter show-since it be cool if Mazinkaiser had a pilot over just being Koji again but alas my boys are stuck in the void with the Shin Jeeg cast to definitely never to be seen again.

Top 5 Works You're Most Proud of

01. This Is Us - I changed my writing, starting with this fic! I used to write in a script format but I wanted to challenge myself and tell oc + Jungkook's story in detail.

02. Fool For You - This mini-series was so unexpected, but it was nice to write something so cute and fluffy with some angst, haha. It wouldn't be a story by Jess if it didn't involve angst.

03. Sweet Tooth - This series has been challenging but fun at the same time. It's my first supernatural au, and I'm having a lot of fun writing it.

04. Safety Zone - I couldn't believe how fast I got this story out. I usually struggle with writing smut, but when inspo hits, it hits.

05. My Plus One - There was a deadline for this one, and I'm just surprised at how much I wrote for a one-shot. It still makes my head dizzy just thinking about it.

01. My Pretty Boy(s) - I've written SO much for this series, but I'm still far from being done. And, ofc, it stars my two fav people - Jungkook and Namjoon. It's going to be a wild ride!

HII do u have any tips on starting a tumblr blog?? like how you format your links and create your banners/headers .. i'm new and don't know where to start and i've been looking through ur blog for awhile now and you seem pretty experienced plus ur formatting and blog just looks so aesthetically pleasing and well organized 😭

hi hi! first off thank uu <33 and second i have a few tips for starting a blog

i just make a simple navigation (i suggest u take inspo from other experienced blogs) and just go with however u wanna style it with also adding pictures and dividers makes it way better

i use a bunch of apps to make my headers but when i feel lazy to make one, i just ask my bff to make it for me. the apps i use to make them are canva, phonto, picsart and ibispaint x :) sometimes i have beef with canva so i use the rest.

for tags, u should put a lot that relate to the post if u wanna gain some audience

and for links, just select whichever text u wanna link and paste the link into the silly link button

i’m not the best at giving advice but i hope this helps!! good luck with ur blog btw <3

2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?

Honestly? Pretty easily but it's not exactly genuine. He's fascinated with humans and everything about them that he "studied" comedy. (yeah... he's that kind of guy...) As long as he registers that what someone is saying is a joke, he'd laugh and try his best to dissect the conversation afterward to understand what's so funny about the joke in the first place. He's still new to human customs so he's still adjusting. The only reason that his awkward sense of humor isn't questioned is thanks to the charm he exudes as an incubus.

19. What is their favorite number?

He likes the number 17. The only reason for this is that he got scammed in one of those phony fortune-telling booths that said that 17 was his lucky number. Though coincidentally, it does say that 17 means "progress and new beginnings" so maybe it's not that far off.

26. What is their preferred mode of transportation?

When he first arrived on Earth, he'd use any opportunity to use any of the transportation that Earth has to offer instead of using his wings. Now though, to get to work he'd secretly use his wings to save money but when given the chance, he'd go for a jet ski.

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

Probably not initially. I'd be intimidated by them since they're the popular kid type of person but as long as he remains polite and kind (and does not seduce me for sustaining himself), we'd get along okay. As for their opinion of me, I think he doesn't really know what to make of me since I try to stay away from his crowd but he'd still try to be a friendly acquaintance that I wouldn't mind talking to.

Hey Amy! I hope it's ok to ask but I noticed that you do not post your new chapters at the same time on tumblr as they appear on Ao3. Is there any reason behind this?

So first of all, you can literally ask me anything in this inbox. I do not mind so long as it's not like 'amy u suck' LSKDFJKLSDF IT'S ALL GOOD AND OK TO ASK 🧡🧡🧡

Second of all, I try to give the people who subscribe to my AO3 a few hours head start to the content I write. I've been doing this since I started regularly posting a year ago, almost as a thank you for subscribing? As AO3 is a little more intimate/updates only vs. tumblr is... everything (art, inspo, fic rec reblogs, etc.)

Also, Tumblr seems to be way more active between 7PM - 4AM EST (at least mine is!) so I try to post when most of my dash is relaxing for the night and in the market to read! Plus, Tumblr can be a nightmare to format when it comes to links / tags / etc. so it gives me extra time to prep the chapter for ease of read!

I hope that makes sense? I cannot be succinct to save my life i s2g

hi earth! i was wondering if you possibly had any advice for anyone who wants to start a writing blog or general tips. if you’re comfortable with it, it would also be cool to know what your writing process is like! you write very well so i’m just curious. thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you have a lovely day!

first of all, this ask was what got me out of bed in the morning to go to my laptop where i did nothing for like 2 hours.

ANYWAYS I’ve been awake for seven hours now and i still haven’t answered it LOL, but thank u for taking the time to pop into my inbox anon!! so honoured u thought of me 🤭🤭

i’m more than happy to answer any questions u may have!! i’ve only been writing here for like one and a half years but I’ll gladly share some tips for new writers <3

tips for new writers - writing on tumblr in general:

formatting and your writing style is very important!!! people most of the time will like stories that have good grammar and are easy to read, so know your punctuation- duh, i mean, most people know where to put their commas, full stops, and shit, but as even a native English speaker i still need to double check sometimes 😭😭😭

ALSO, figure out if you’re a writer who likes to write with proper punctuation or in lower case like i am rn. people on tumblr don’t care which one you opt for so it’s a matter of personal preference!!

personally, i like to use proper punctuation for longer fics with more plot, and lower case writing for normal drabbles, headcannons, etc, all up to you :3 depends on what i feel like tho, i just like the look of lower case hehe

also, you can totally write drafts on tumblr or another platform - i switch between docs and tumblr. shorter pieces on tumblr and longer pieces on Google docs !!

how to get attention on tumblr as a new writer - the importance of tags:

USE THE TAGS - DON’T BE SHY !!! USE A VARIETY !!!! it’s so easy to get reads on tumblr if you just know your tags. i also will say: be mindful of whether or not you stay in tags bc your post can suddenly just disappear- this has happened to me so many times 😭😭 to do that just search if your fic is still popping up in the ‘recent’ section of the tags AND EVERY TIME AFTER U POST SOMETHING, TAKE THE TIME TO SEARCH IF IT’S IN THE ‘RECENT’ TAGS.

(this part might make zero sense, but if it’s been a couple hours and your post still is not popping up, you can either edit it again, make no changes, and press ‘save’.)

general tips:

have an aesthetic layout.

obviously it’s not ‘essential’, but i always find myself more likely to follow blogs that are pretty or have an aesthetics

it takes so long to do but it’s so worth it 😭 if you looks at the fics that do very well, the formatting it very beautiful and pleasing to the eye.

if you’re struggling with a layout, there are so many inspos available on tumblr, just search up ‘blog inspo’ or ‘layout inspo’ and you’ll generally be pretty successful. if all else fail just go to your fav blogs and see how they set up their blog/navigation/aesthetic!!!

having a set colour for your blog can also look nice and less chaotic. for example; mine is red and it’s my (usually) go-to colour for a lot of stuff. just make sure u like the colour tho ☝️

also don’t be afraid to talk to people! AUTHORS LOVE WHEN YOU COMPLIMENT THEIR WORK!! getting mutuals is such a great feeling so PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE !!!!! MAKE FRIENDS 😮😮

my writing process:

i am that writer that likes to have a plot before i start anything, but it’s never complete. normally when i’m going abt my day, i suddenly think of a piece of dialogue or scenario that makes me go ‘hold on. let me write that down’.

for example, recently i thought of a piece of dialogue for an angst fic (that i don’t know if i’ll use) that goes:

‘no i’m not upset that you forgot about our anniversary, in fact, i already predicted you would.’

another idea i had was: you don’t ever want to leave nagi seishiro hungry.

sometimes I get these ideas when i’m in bed like bro 😐 let me rest…

if i feel inspired enough to continue said ideas, i do, but i never force the fic from happening bc then it’ll be mediocre and just… okay. not something i want on my blog 😭

but then i decide the wordlength, how many scenes i want to be in there. for example, my mistletoe todoroki fic i set out for 4k and met my goal. but my itoshi rin Xmas fic only met around 1k when my goal was 2k - sometimes this happens and i cant be mad if i think the story is done there.

it’s never that organised though, if you look at my drafts, it’s a scrabble of words. i jump from scene to scene with big gaps in between that i need to fill in later 😭 but that’s just how i write LOL ! you may be totally different from me which is a-okay :3

then i grind til the fic is done, reread then bam 💪 ! do my usual formatting on tumblr, tags, and then you’ll see the final result!! easier said than done bc when you want to be done with a fic and just post it, you then need to do all the actual presentation of the fic 😭😭😭

anyways yeah, that’s my process summarised lol!! hope it helped u get a little bit of an idea for what the earthtooz blog grind looks like 🫡
