I set this and let it run all day long today. I didn't always use the time slots as recommended, but the constant random meowing reminded me to get up and look away from my screen for little bits here and there.

I write on my laptop, and whilst it doesn't bother me when I'm gaming or doing most other things, the noise my computer makes becomes extremely overwhelming when I'm writing. I have to keep my Loops in or work in a room with other noise (air conditioning, TV etc.) just to work on my WIPs without feeling icky. It's so odd, because it's a gaming laptop that sometimes sounds like a vacuum cleaner depending on what I'm doing, but the slight buzzing sound it makes when idle just makes me feel ill when I'm trying to read or write anything. It sometimes makes me want to purchase an iPad again just so I can write without the noise, even though I prefer the PC experience in every other way.

ADHD writers giving advice: Put on a movie that matches the tone of your novel to kickstart your dopamine and get into hyperfocus, then put a song on loop on noise-cancelling headphones, livestream your writing session so you feel watched and owe someone accountability, and write as much as you can for as long as you can. Don't forget to eat, sleep or drink. Now go write that novel in 5 days.

Ya'll, it is FINALLY time to kick off the inaugural Fighting For Writing Series! I've been working on these articles for months and I'm so excited to finally share them with the world.

This series is for writers who are struggling with their practice--whether that's consistency, productivity, inspiration, or feelings of inadequacy and shame.

If you join my livestreams, you'll hear me talk a lot about why I started this blog. In a nutshell, I was tired of writing advice that completely leaves out chronically ill writers, writers with disabilities or mental health issues, neurodivergent writers, or anyone who basically doesn't live an Instagram-perfect life.

So Fighting For Writing is designed for us: the weirdies, the chronically ill creatives, the crack fanfic writers, the goblins who refuse to stick to formula.

does anyone else find it kinda weird that SPOP just casually dropped in the fact that there’s a Prince who can see ANYWHERE in the world magically, aka the perfect spy, and Glimmer just… didn’t think of recruiting him?
