Starting off our new series, EPISODE 1:
The Sander Sides As:
Six the Musical
This is the idea that started this page. I originally thought of the following:
Cathrine of Aragon - Logan
Anne Boleyn - Remus
Jane Seymour - Patton
Anne of Cleves - Virgil
Cathrine Howard - Janus
Cathrine Parr - Roman
And although I enjoyed the reasoning for most of these, I thought I would go over them again and reconfigure it with a better background and better reasoning.
Sides Note: It’s really cool that the sides in this kinda match up with the outfits worn by the queens on stage. If so, Janus would be Cathrine of Aragon, Remus would be Anne Boleyn, Patton remains Jane Seymour, Roman would be Anne if Cleves, Virgil would be Cathrine Howard, and Logan would be Cathrine Parr.
——————————————————————————
“No Way”
Cathrine of Aragon - Virgil
Cathrine experiences arguably the most heartbreak and anger out of all of the Six wives of dearest Henry. He cheated on her, tried to annul their marriag, and when that didn’t work he changed history by assuming supremacy on (taking over) the church and divorcing her.
Virgil’s emotional state as Anxiety lines up with Cathrine of Aragon’s almost personally. The anxiety of abandonment, the fighting nature of survival to keep their place, and the bitterness of acceptance. That’s why I think that Virgil fits this role best. Also, he would look really good with the sleeves that she wears in the musical.
Best fitting line from the song - “You made me a wife, so I'll be queen till the end of my life.”
——————————————————————————
“Don’t Lose Your Head”
Anne Boleyn - Remus
Honestly this one was the easiest for me to decide on, especially considering the song.
Anne Boleyn is potryaed in Six the Musical as a woman blown by the whims of smut love. She first lives with Henry’s original wife, Cathrine of Aragon, before getting Henry to go as far as to take over the Church of England to have his previous marriage annulled so she can become queen. However, in the musical he becomes overwhelmed with anger after she cheats on him and calls his...uh...special man worm...small.
This song fits Remus for obvious reasons. He’s extremely fun-loving and isn’t afraid to get down and dirty for what he wants. Literally. Along with the sexual references in the song, the portrayed version of Anne Boleyn fits perfectly with Remus’s personality. Also, the outfit is LITERALLY his color, which is really exciting.
Best fitting line from the song - “Sorry not sorry 'bout what I said, I'm just tryna have some fun, Don't worry, don't worry, don't lose your head, I didn't mean to hurt anyone”
——————————————————————————
“My Heart Of Stone”
Jane Seymour - Patton
This choice was also really obvious to me. Jane Seymour is portrayed in Six the Musical as an incredibly loving, caring person, who only wants the best for her husband and son despite knowing that without her heir to the throne, he probably wouldn’t love her.
Patton, the literal moral compass, is equally as loving and caring for the other sides and Thomas. He takes anything they throw at him and continues to love them unconditionally. And come on, wouldn’t you cry if Patton sang this beautiful song?
Best fitting line from the song - “I'll be by your side, because my love is set in stone.”
——————————————————————————
“Get Down”
Anne of Cleves - Logan
This was one of the hardest choices for me, as Roman was another obvious choices for this part, at least in my opinion. I eventually ended my desicion after deciding on Roman’s perfect Six counterpart, although I think both of them could play this part perfectly.
Henry first saw Anne of Cleves through a self portrait that he had requested of her. However, when he met Anne it seems all of his dreams weren’t exactly fulfilled, and six months after their marriage it was annulled, although she was given a generous settlement for her troubles. It’s the song dedicated to Anne of Cleves, however, that shows her sassy and self sufficient side. She doesn’t need a man, and she won’t take crap from any of them.
Logan matches well with this role, especially the way Six portrays Anne of Cleves. He’s remains unshaken by almost anything thrown his way, and his “bitch please” line really shows how well he’s match this part. Personally, I think it’s a good fit for him.
Best fitting line from the song - “No one tells me I need a rich man, Doin' my thing in my palace in Richmond”
——————————————————————————
“All You Wanna Do”
Cathrine Howard - Janus
Cathrine Howard’s character in Six shows a girl in love with being loved. However, all of that quickly start to go wrong as she realizes that the “love” the men in her life have shown her is a lie. Her love of her first music teacher, of the secretary, of the King and of the courtier all meant nothing to them but physical love. She was living a lie, and she woke up too late.
This, to me, just absolutely SCREAMS deceit. He’s not just a liar, he’s a side born of lies. He shows what he’s been taught, been created for. I really do feel pity for Janus’s character.
Best fitting line from the song - “I thought this time was different, why did I think he’s be different, but it’s never, ever different.”
——————————————————————————
“I Don’t Need Your Love”
Cathrine Parr - Roman
This was equally difficult to cast, as I thought Logan would be a really good character for Cathrine as well. But the part that really got me was the section of the song where Cathrine shows her long list of incredible accomplishments. Cathrine was a woman already in love with Sir Thomas Seymour, when Henry proposed to her and she saw no other option but to marry him.
Within Cathrine’s part I see the fire that Roman brings to anything he does. I also see her creativity in the courts, how she outlived the King‘s attempt to kill her in 1546 (this isn’t in the musical, but I thought it was important to bring up), when she had an arrest warrant brought against her. She reconciled with him just in time. I absolutely love Roman in this part, and think he would thrive as the surviving queen.
Best fitting line from the song - “But why should that story be the one I have to sing about, just to win? I’m out, that’s not my story, there’s so much more.”
——————————————————————————
That’s the end of the thread!!
Final list is Six the Musical characters as the Sander Sides:
Cathrine of Aragon - Virgil
Anne Boleyn - Remus
Jane Seymour - Patton
Anne of Cleves - Logan
Cathrine Howard - Janus
Cathrine Parr - Roman

Although I think that Roman and Logan could absolutely be interchangeable, I think the list is pretty solid! So what do you think? Let me know what you want to see next, and feel free to tell me who you think the Sides would fit in as?
Tune in next time for

Shakespeare Productions
Hope to see you then!

Welcome to:
The Sander Sides As: *Blank*!
A new page dedicated the the Alternate Universe idea of the Sander Sides. It’s gonna also focus on other things, but mostly this stuff! Imagine the sander sides if they were, say, kitchen supplies! I’ll do a detailed description of who would be who, and why!
Please feel free to send in asks/suggestions, and remember that nothing is owned by me except the ideas, and even those are shared.
