Heads Up 7-Up
tagged by @apocellipse to share seven sentences! thank you my friend, it is always good to see you on my dash! :D
I didn't do any rewriting this weekend because I was away from home, but here's something I jotted down in my phone notes, a scene idea that hit me for These Quiet, Terrible Things. I may or may not use it, I'm just kinda playing around to figure out the right voice and tone.
anyway here it is:
It takes time, but the dark reflection bounces back at you, twisted and warped. In that reflection are ghosts and demons and gods know what else.
From that mirror, two soft, cold, white hands reach out and cup your face. They pull you in close. A thumb brushes your lips and you lean into it, because you’d know these hands anywhere.
It’s Bunny. It’s always Bunny, isn’t it?
The icy hands map your face and gently pass over your eyelids. They close. You sink.
It’s cold, and wet, and when you breathe, everything is violet. It fills your nose your mouth your eyes, the familiar taste of skin pressing into you in liquid form. When you open your mouth to speak, it floods into your lungs, lavender and milk and honey.
Everything is upside down and backwards. You don’t know which direction is which. The only thing grounding you is Bunny’s grip on your face. Lean in to kiss his thumb.
Tumble forward.
Your eyes snap open and your breathing is ragged and wet and you have to force it, force it. Dexter, breathe.
You’re back where you began, sitting in a black room gazing into a black mirror, and you don’t remember how you got there.
Everything is violet.

Nine Writeblrs I Want To Know Better

last song: Beautiful Ruin by Make Good Your Escape
favorite color: Azure blue! Second place goes to midnight purple metallic.
last movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's one of my favourite films of all time and definitely a comfort watch. I've seen it fourteen times.
currently reading: Physical-book wise, it's Atonement by Ian McEwan. I heard good things about it and picked it up for £1 in a charity shop, but I'm struggling with it at the moment. McEwan's prose is needlessly flowery and overly abstract, and it keeps yanking me out of the story.
Virtually, I'm re-reading Rush (For A Gap That Exists) by sleepstxtic on AO3. It's a crossover fanfiction between Harry Potter and Formula One, with the Harry Potter characters, houses and organisations transplanted into the world of modern Formula One racing. It's a great story even if you aren't a motorsport fan - read it here!
sweet/spicy/savory: Savoury, if I'm being honest. I do have a sweet tooth, but eating sweets too much makes me feel queasy and guilty, whereas I could never get sick of sausage rolls, steak bakes and chorizo and cheese rolls. Yum :)
relationship status: single at the moment. There are possibilities of that changing in the near future though... hmm...
current obsession: Motorsport Manager. It's a PC game where you take the reins of a fictional racing team or create your own, managing your drivers, cars, race strategy, staff and headquarters as you endeavour to win at the highest level and leave your mark on the sport. I tend to make all the people in the game into characters even though they're only randomly-generated portraits, and use the game to create storylines or scenarios. It's way too addictive. I've probably written way too many career reports and fics going into all my save files: the drama between drivers, certain dramatic races, fictional magazine articles and write-ups... at some point I'll get over the embarrassment and post a few bits here.
last thing I googled: I assume this relates to writing; otherwise it's just 'how long should you reheat cottage pie in the microwave for?' as that's what I'm having for tea tonight. The last thing I googled for writing purposes was 'France 2027 election predictions'
currently working on: A sci-fi short story regarding the first spaceflight from a 'ringworld' where a group of monks and inventors defy an oppressive, anti-technology society to launch a manned rocket into space, and are shocked by the nature of the world they inhabit. Also a dystopian science-fiction piece regarding a woman who becomes addicted to selling her memories on the black market and gradually loses her identity and sanity in the process.

Apriciation post because I fucking can.
My favourite brimsley × reynolds fan fic writers in order of discovery:
1, @erraticprocrastinator one of the first brimsley × reynolds fan ficks I ever read was off you and your writing style and creativity is just so good, I must admit my favorite fics of yours are the slightly smuttier ones but that's self preservation because your head must be a dark place with the sadness you write. Amazing person as well, and I've had some wonderful conversations with you on my other blog acc thingy (iligalyalive) on both QC and shared social opinions (that one time i had a substitute teacher at college). Brilliant person and writer if u haven't read their work please do.
2, I don't know if this person has a tumbler if they do, plz @, because I wanna be their friend so bad, but their @ oh A03 is Tomlinlick and they post all the time and make some fucking amazing stories with such fantastic plots i mean their most recent being 'Heaven Can’t Help Me Now' was phenomenal and some quotes from their ficks often swirl through my head (a few favourites being:
-'Brimsley was kissing him. Properly kissing him. Okay, that sounded dumb. It was just that Brimsley was kissing him passionately and eagerly, the way he had only read about in romance novels.' - Heaven can't help me now

Fucking fabulous writer, their fic 'a lifetime' was amazing, fabulous just wow I mean it's the first long ish fic that I waited for updates on and it was worth it I mean getting the notification that they had posted was and still is a highlight of my day such a good fic and their one for wumptober 'exhausted' is most definitely in my top 3, no pressure but as I'm sure your aware we all need a part two and it's just a credit to you and your talent man. I hope that you and i could maybe become friends because you seem like such an awesome person with a brilliant perspective on things.
