Summary:

Without thinking, he reaches down and slides his fingers over the indent made by the pen. Eddie must have pressed down harder than necessary, leaving a tactile mark as well as the visual one. Steve’s hit by the realisation that Eddie will never write his name again. Never write or draw, or even hold a pen again. Ever. For the first time in two weeks, he stops. He looks around his room, feeling lost, feeling alone and so achingly, horribly empty. - - - Steve struggles with the grief left behind after Eddie's death and how he can move past it without forgetting.

My Thoughts:

I WROTE AN ENTIRE THREE PARAGRAPH THOUGHTS AND THEN TUMBLR DELETED IT NAYHHH. Okay I'm going to try and recreate it. The thing that always gets me about Morgan's writing is the level of detail. It's not just writing like it becomes a whole experience? the font and the notebook page and all these little add ons that just sink you so deep into the story!!! My favorite scene has to be the tattoo scene I remember Morgan talking about this one with us and workshopping it and watching this story come to fruition was such an utter joy. it's on my short list of fics to read when I need a good grief moment haha

My thoughts:

Okay so I wrote a fic really similar to this one because I NEEDED more of early Stobin, and damn if this didn't hit that niche so perfectly!!!! Like ough I just Robin and Steve have such a lovely really complicated relationship. Both of them have no idea how love works, but they do love each other and it's real OMG I loveeeeeee they're so good! I also love the characterizations here. Steve and Robin still figuring out how this deep confusing real thing between them works ough I love them

My Thoughts:

This one is like ough a Hershey kiss!! It's short and so so perfect. I love Jonathan POV stuff and this has such a good take on him and how he would feel barely knowing Steve but really wanting to know Nancy and having these emotions for her There's this amazing line in here about Jonathan 'seeing' Steve by being the empty house behind him in the photograph. How Steve is so desperate and hollow, but Jonathan because he's into Nancy sees that and sees it as a flaw of Steve instead of having sympathy for that and it's so OGUH it's amazing

My Thoughts:

I LOVE A WAYNE AND EDDIE FIC AGH! Okay the Munson Lore!!! I love how every writer was like yeah yk what I must include some backstory here for Wayne and Eddie and we are all right LMAO god the scene with Eddie's shaved head it HURTS me like genuinely the way Wayne asks if its what he wants and its so good. IT's hard to explain like there's so so much going on in this fic and it's longer but it's this really well crafted one shot with hints I also adore the way Steve and Wayne develop a relationship here it's not a focus but it's always one of my fave thigns to see in fics!!!! Anyway it's great

Strangely Charming - Chapter 1

Summary: In the fall of 1984, Maeve and Calcifer move to Hawkins, Indiana into Forest Hills Trailer Park across from the one and only Eddie “the freak” Munson. (Takes place from Season 2 onward)

Maeve (Emerson) and Calcifer (named after the flame in Howl’s Moving Castle, yes) are my two OCs that first appear in my fic Charming Eternity for The Lost Boys (1987) both of whom have magic.

(If this goes the way I’ve got it planned in my head this’ll probably end in a Poly ship with Steddie and Billy in some way... with the OC of course.)

(There’s a lot of opening notes which honestly you could just skip as they’re not SUPER important but still worth mentioning.)

In that fic it’s Maeve as the main character and it was mostly her POV, but I wanted to have more of Calcifer in this one because I really like writing him.

I didn’t write this in a way where you need to know anything at all from Charming Eternity so it doesn’t matter if you’ve read that one.

The only things you need to know going into this is that this is a self-indulgent, fix-it. There will be spoilers for Seasons 2-4. We will be turning canon Billy into fanon Billy. Saving all those who need saving. Maeve is a witch and therefore has magic (which is a mashup of Charmed, Merlin, etc.). Black cat. A raven named Circe. That about covers it.

NOTE: Technically Charming Eternity takes place in 1987 and Strangely Charming takes place/starts in 1984 (and there are certain references relating to Charming Eternity even though those events didn’t happen yet.) Maeve and Calcifer are in their mid-twenties in that fic, but in this one they’re 18-19. This is basically an AU for my OCs and for the show since this is gonna be a fix-it thing.

Also, since this takes place in season 2, Maeve and Calcifer move into the house that Max would move into after season 3.

Face claim for Maeve is Madison Iseman (photo included in this post) - she was Mary Ellen in Annabelle Comes Home and Bethany in the new Jumanji movies (the actress not IN the game obviously lol). Blonde and she has blue eyes but OC has grey. Calcifer’s face claim is Colin Morgan (Merlin in Merlin. But more specificaly Jethro from that one episode of Doctor Who.)

-Posting this at 4:30 am so I might have to go back and fix mistakes-

Maeve had just about finished bringing in the last of the boxes into the trailer home, closing the back of her Jeep with one arm holding the last box on her hip. Before she could turn towards the small porch, across the road a man stepped out of his trailer with a pack of cigarettes. She gave a small wave when he looked up from lighting one and noticed her. He gave a nod and a small wave in return as he sat on the steps.

After putting the box in one of the bedrooms, and petting the black cat that was laying on the bed, she stepped back outside of the trailer and made her way across the street.

“Hi,” she said, giving the man another wave. “I’m Maeve.” She held out her hand as she came to stand in front of him.

“Wayne,” the man said with a nod as he shook her hand.

“Just wanted to introduce myself. Normally I’d make my brother come out and say hi too, but he’s tired from the move and isn’t really a people person anyway; closed himself up in his room.” She gestured back towards her trailer.

“That’s alright.”

“I also just wanted to let you know we have a cat we let roam outside, in case you see a black cat wandering about. Brother named him ‘Cal’ after himself. He’s usually pretty chill; won’t scratch or anything.”

“Thank you for letting me know.” He gave her a small smile.

“Oh also Cal, my brother, not the cat,” Maeve said with a chuckle, “Cal is adopted so if you’re wondering why I sound like this and he sounds like he just moved from Ireland that’s why,” she explained with a chuckle. “Just never lost the accent; though it’s not as thick as it used to be.”

“It’s just the two of you?” he asked, glancing across the street, eyebrows furrowing in concern.

“Yeah, been just us for a while. I mean it’s not like we don’t have any other family just… ya know, none here,” she said with a shrug. “Hey, uh, do you know if any other high schoolers live around here? We start tomorrow and…” She shrugged again. “We’re gonna be seniors.”

“Actually my nephew is a senior. He’s not here right now, but uh, you hear a van blasting music that’s him,” he said with a fond chuckle.

“Oh, awesome. Hey, think you could maybe ask if the weird new kids can sit with him at lunch tomorrow? I mean I know I probably look normal now,” she said as she gestured to herself. Her pale blonde hair was up on a messy bun, no makeup, a black jacket over a worn Black Sabbath t-shirt and faded blue jeans with holes in the knees, over a beat up pair of off-white vans. “but this is my at home look. I’m much different when I know people can see me.”

“I’ll ask,” he said with another small chuckle. “He likes them too,” he said as he pointed to her shirt. “So you’ll have that in common.” His smile grew but Maeve didn’t question it.

“Oh awesome. You can tell him he can come over and say hi when he gets home.”

“Not sure when he’ll be back, stays out late when his band has a show. I work nights; he always comes home before I get back, just don’t know when.”

“Oh damn, if I didn’t have to unpack I’d go check them out. I’ll have to ask when he’s playing again.” Wayne smiled. “Well, it was very nice meeting you. Got a lot of boxes to deal with so I’ll stop bothering you now.”

“Not a bother,” he said, shaking his head. “Was nice meeting you.”

“Sounds like band-boy is home,” Calcifer called from his room upon hearing music coming from outside, growing closer.

“And?” Maeve called back from where she sat at a table in the kitchenette. “It’s late, we can say hi tomorrow,”

“Never said I wanted to go talk to him,” he clarified. A meow brought Maeve’s attention to the door where Cal sat, pawing at it.

“Really? It’s late Cal,” she said. The cat meowed again. “Alright, fine.” She got up and moved to the door. “Don’t stay out too late, kay? And don’t be a weirdo.” If ever a meow could sound offended it was then. She opened the door and he took off.

The black cat sprinted across the street as the van parked, the music inside cutting off as the engine stopped. The door opened with a loud creak and the driver hopped out only to look down as Cal meowed up at him.

“Hey… lil guy,” Eddie said, blinking down at the cat. “Where’d you come from?” He closed the door to the van with a jarring slam then moved around to the back to retrieve his guitar case before heading for the door of the trailer. “Careful, neighbor has a dog,” he said with a chuckle, glancing back at the cat which he was surprised to see was following him up the steps. He stopped and looked down as Cal sat and looked up at him, gently pawing at his shoe. “You uh… hungry or something?” he asked slowly before he looked around.

The unfamiliar car across the way caught his attention and drew his gaze to the window where he saw a light was on inside. He knew the place had been for sale the past few months, but he hadn’t cared enough to pay attention as to whether or not it had been bought.

“Ah, guess you just moved in,” Eddie said as he looked down at the cat, that continued to look up at him. “Well then, welcome to the neighborhood, little buddy. I’d pet you but I can't risk you eating my hand.” He drummed the fingers of his left hand on his guitar case. The black cat rubbed against his leg and started purring. “Is that your way of telling me you won’t eat me?” Eddie chuckled to himself as he put the key in the lock. “Alright fine, but your owners come looking for you, you’re not the one who’s gonna get in trouble for cat-napping.”

He opened the door, jumping slightly as the cat ran in before he could even take a step. With the guitar case in the way, and the fact that the door opened outward, Eddie almost tripped a few times as he hurried to get inside after the animal. He set his guitar case down with a sigh as he saw the cat standing in the middle of the living area and simply sniffing at the floor.

“Shit, please don’t eat anything you find on the floor,” Eddie muttered, suddenly aware that he may end up having to take this cat to the vet if it got into the wrong thing. The cat stopped and turned to him, making him raise an eyebrow, before it suddenly sped down the hall and into his room. “Hey, whoa, wait wait wait-! Please tell me you’re a cat that doesn’t like to knock shit over,” he pleaded as he ran after him.

Thankfully Cal wasn’t knocking anything over. Instead, the cat was stretching up the panel next to Eddie’s closet, with one paw on the wall and the other pawing at a long chain that hung there along with two sets of handcuffs the cat couldn’t reach. The cat looked from the cuffs to him and Eddie had never felt as judged by an animal as he did in that moment.

“You… are a very weird kitty,” he muttered as he took off his vest and jacket. Cal sniffed around as Eddie moved to turn on his cassette player, doing his best to keep an eye on the cat. As Metallica started to play, the cat jumped up onto his bed and curled up. “Uh, alright, sure.”

A/N: I’m giving myself the self-set goal of trying to make each chapter at least 1k words since I’m posting this on both AO3 and tumblr and I tend to like shorter chapters on tumblr.

Writing Progress

For the longest time, I did a pretty good job at ‘only have one serious WIP at a time,’ and I knew a lot of other authors spawned new AUs all the time but I couldn’t see myself being one of them, I was much more determined to shove new ideas onto the backburner until they fizzled into nothing, never to see the light of day.

And now the shoe is on the other foot, and though I’m not sure how I got here, I can’t say I regret it ;P

So, without further ado:

Don’t Listen to Kafka: This is still a Work in Progress, I SWEAR. First chapter of the next installment is about 70% done, but I’m gonna need a lot more buffer before I’m ready to post, and I also still have to decide whether a ‘Get Enrique out the Darklands’ plot should be worked in here, or saved for later. Quite the conundrum, given how many other events and complicated plot threads are predicated on it, and it’s honestly really daunting to try to figure out how to deal with Gunmar once and for all. On the flipside, given that rescuing Enrique drives so much of the plot once Bular is killed, it feels like leaving the story unfinished to leave him in the Darklands. Of course, if my paralyzing indecision and writer’s block prevents me from finishing the story, then the story is still unfinished but in a much more literal way...

North Salem Possibilities: I had some ideas for what happns next, but haven’t fleshed much out. Truthfully, I’ve sort of fallen out of the phandom once again, but if the past (*checks calendar*) 13 years of falling in and out of this fandom is any indication, I will definitely come back around someday

Through Myself and Back Again: The next chapter is half done! Or possiby it’s 90% done because I am considering splitting it in two. I haven’t touched it since December, though (see above) and what I have got done needs a rewrite, since I realized I was making it more complicated for myself than it needed to be. Looking forward to writing Sam’s POV, and, later, introducing Jazz’s daemon. Possibly some of my ideas will just be written up as meta rather than fic chapters, like dealing with Vlad’s whole deal.

I Was a Teenage Troll: I’ve got bits and pieces written, but don’t expect an update anytime soon. This one is very much on the backburner, and whenever I do get a surge of ToA inspiration, I try to direct that towards DLtK, so yeah. Still really love this AU!

In Loco Parentis: So I haven’t even starting posting this one yet, but if you’re wondering where all my current energies are being invested, this is it. This is the thing that is The Most Exciting Thing to my brain right now, a crossover between Forever and Daredevil that began with two unrelated thoughts: 1. What if Henry Morgan adopted more kids than just Abe? At least as often as Bruce Wayne, spread out over decades - he’d probably be a grandfather several times over, can you imagine the family reunions? and 2. Forever is a police procedural and like all procedurals they take a very loose approach to due process and fourth amendment rights, including treating ‘lawyering up’ as a confession of guilt/worst possible roadblock to an investigation, instead of, you know, a constitutional right and good idea all-around. Gosh I’d love to drop a competent defense attorney like Matt Murdock on their heads and take them down a peg.

I am so deep down this rabbit hole that I swore I wasn’t going to go down, lol. There’s so many parallels to draw - but also points of delicious conflict. Like Henry and Matt are both stubborn men who hold strongly to their moral codes, and are willing to lay down their lives to help complete strangers, but where Henry holds to his oaths to First Do No Harm as much as he possibly can, the line Matt is unwilling to cross is Thou Shalt Not Kill, leaving a lot of grievous bodily harm still on the table. Also they were both at one point locked in the back of a New York taxi that was driven into the river in order to drown them in a plot orchestrated by their nemesis, which is a weirdly specific coincidence.

and that’s all the ones that have any drabbles written for them! any others are just like vague bullet points at the moment.

I think the only kind of patterns I was aware of, looking back at these fics, is that my older ones when I first started out were mostly written in first person, and then from Finding Home-onwards I switched to third person. for some reason the first person stuff makes me especially cringy now. there’s a decent mix of short and long sentences, some dialogue thrown in, some names introduced straight off the bat, but I kinda like that I’m not doing the same thing over and over.

as for picking a favourite, uft.. Untethered is one I'm quite proud of, and that chapter kind of wrote itself one day when I was feeling particularly down and needing to distract myself, so it means something to me. Finding Home is my longest fic to date and is one that I hold very close to my heart, despite there being parts that I wish I'd done differently and stuff. Untitled Jumper Fic is hopefully going to be quite a fun one, when I eventually get round to it; what I’ve characterised so far for Danny I really like, so I’m looking forward to that one. An Unstoppable Force and an Immovable Object is another one that I’m excited for and super eager to get started on, but I’m holding myself back so I can concentrate on Untethered. Oh and then the Untitled Teen Wolf Fic is another one I keep having waves of inspiration for and I keep just noting it down in bullet points or writing drabbles and then tearing my attention back to my actual WIP.

***** The Rolling Stones have cancelled their North American tour. Mick Jagger apologized for cancelling due to undisclosed medical treatments. Oh Baby, Get Well Soon!!!!

***** Mick and his squeeze, Melanie Hamrick have put together a ballet set to Stones music called Porte Rouge. After premiering in Russia it will come to NY on April 18 for an opening night charity event to benefit Youth America Grand Prix. Tickets start at $600.

***** Tina Fey and Carol Burnett are working on a movie about Carol’s book, Carrie and me: A Mother –Daughter love story.

***** When I hear Bernie Sanders going on, I can’t help but think of Jimmy Carter. He was pushing many of these messages in the seventies. He tried to get us to have more respect for the land and to save energy and the greedy wrote him off as boring and the era of greed took over. Will we listen this time?

***** The Mueller report was finally turned over to Attorney General William Barr. This has started a whole new set of problems. Barr gives us a summary that is like springtime for Trump. He jumps right in to those that done him wrong and FISA warrants. Should congress get a look at the full report? Everyone is talking over each other and don’t seem to hear what the other is saying. Everybody piles on Adam Schiff because they think he isn’t accepting the report like a good Dem should. If they would listen, he makes it very clear that he respects the findings but they need to see the report. How dare they ask HIM to resign as Intel committee chair. It was heartwarming to see his backbone. They must quit backing down. We still don’t have the whole story but he still free to say that he thinks the actions we already know of were wrong. What the hell is wrong with that? Barr is supposed to release the heavily redacted report in mid- April. No collusion? Perhaps, Scary Clown 45 would probably not get his hands dirty. Obstruction? We’ll see. ** Tyler Mcgaughey, William Barrs son in law will now advise Trump and the White House staff. ** I am really sick of listening to the old white man POV.

***** Dow chemical has donated a mil to Trump’s campaign. Strange that Trump has blocked a report that took years of research and shows proof of Dow toxic pesticides which jeopardizes over 1,200 endangered species.

***** The daytime Emmy noms have been announced and Days got the most this year. WOO HOO! The soap was nominated for drama, writing, costume, music, casting, art direction and oh, just everything. In the acting category the lead noms are Marci Miller, Tyler Christopher and Billy Flynn. Kate Mansi was noticed for a guest spot as Abigail so 2 actresses are up for Emmys in the same role. Other guest noms went to Thaao Penghlis and Philip Anthony Rodriguez. Kassie Depaiva, Linsey Godfrey (really?), Martha Madison, Greg Rikaart and Eric Martsolf were all nominated. Younger actor nods went to Olivia Rose Keegan, Lucas Adams, Victoria Konefal and Kyler Pettis. C’mon , why nothing for Lauren Koslow, Greg Vaughan, Casey Moss, Susan Seaforth Hayes and Robert Scott Wilson?? I think I would switch a few of these around but it is still great to see Days so blessed. I was also happy to see Max Gail from GH get noticed. CBS led the networks in noms. Hooray for Wayne Brady for game show host and Mark Hamill, Ruth Negga and Steve Buscemi in animated programs. Watch for the Daytime Emmys on May 5 which will not be on television again.

The nationwide college entrance exam scandal involves about 50 people including Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin that dates back to 2011. People paid millions to use ringers to take or fix their children’s exams and sometimes faked photos with coaches to include them in sports they were never involved in. The U.S. attorney does not believe the schools themselves were involved. **Lawsuits have already begun from those claiming they could not get into a good college because those spots were taken by these alleged cheaters.

As soon as the story broke, the sites for an international consulting firm, text only in Chinese and no prices for the meets came down. Li Yang and her associates are in pictures at the inauguration, the White House, Mar A Lago and Trump’s super bowl party with the Pres, his sons and other Trump family members. We should have seen this coming. The old adage that always holds true with this administration seems true here. They always blame others for what they are really guilty of, this explains the Pizzagate garbage. This could be bigger than we ever dreamed. Even stories that we may have thought a bit out there need to be looked at closer. Can we connect the sex trafficking, the White House, the money? It is time to quit fucking around with the sellers and customers of those exploited in the sex trade. I don’t get it, all these men from Trump to R Kelly have the power over the women they supposedly use and abuse and yet they are always so angry. Perhaps they wouldn’t be losing their power if you treated others with respect and dignity. They always want all the power for themselves. And c’mon media, stop talking your heads off about the Omar story and give this Li Yang story a closer look.

***** The story of the fall of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes is a sad one. It does show that greed and massive fraud are not just for the men of this world. When I first heard of her plans for the blood testing, I was so impressed with what she was accomplishing at her age. Yes, she was another poor little rich girl whose family fortune was quite diminished by the time it got to her. Even without the Fleischman yeast money, she did seem to have advantages. I can see how some of us were fooled but what about the big investors, the stalwart statesmen? Do they not remember that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is? How can all the hype, the press, the marketing snowball before there is any proof that something is what is actually supposed to be?? I always assumed that by the time I am hearing about it, things are about ready to go. Seeing all these stories like Trump and Deutsche bank, light sentences for Manafort and now Holmes and her partner in crime seeming to get off lightly, there is not much hope for the little guy. WHY can’t we hold those involved in big money crimes really responsible??
