#me: with all due respect i am choosing a different answer

Note
hi, i sent this question to another blog a few weeks ago, but I didn’t receive a response. perhaps the person didn’t see my question or didn’t know how to help me with it… 🫤
of course, i don’t want to make you uncomfortable, and it’s perfectly fine if you choose not to answer it.
i’ve been part of the community since I was 14 years old, and now, in just a few months, I’ll be 17. i’ve never shifted before or experienced any “minishift” (at least, I’ve never noticed anything different in my reality).
honestly, i’ve never really cared about age when it comes to shifting. i’ve held onto the hope that I’d shift before turning 18, so I could experience a normal teenage life in various realities I’d love to explore before reaching that milestone. take dating, for instance—not that my goal is to have a boyfriend in my desired reality. i simply want to embrace everything that reality has to offer, and I don’t judge those who choose a different path.
but with this, comes that… i have a specific script that I’ve been refining over the years so that when I shift, I can go there. while I haven’t shifted yet, I keep making adjustments to the script. In this script, I have a boyfriend who is the same age as me in that reality (16 years old). he’s been my boyfriend since I created the script, and I’ve never replaced him with anyone else.
now, I’m almost 17 years old, and I still haven’t shifted. the shifting community has this sort of ‘prejudice’ against adults shifting to a reality where they date a teenager. they believe it’s wrong to shift to a reality where your mind is that of an adult, but you’re in a relationship with a teenager. i’ve been worried about this for a week now. i keep wondering, ‘Will I shift before turning 18?’ I don’t want to leave my partner in that reality, but according to the shifting community, it’s considered wrong.
but what about me? how will I be? what if I can’t change before turning 18? Will I have to give up that reality? And before someone tries to give me a ‘magical solution,’ it’s not so easy for me to just ‘change his age.’ after all, it’s set in a school environment (everything in that reality revolves around that teenage setting). It’s strange for us to see young adults aged 19 or 21 attending a school, as they should be in college, not high school.
i’ve been torturing myself with this for days, afraid that I’ll never change, and when I finally do, it’ll be after I turn 17. And right after that, I’ll have to give up my partner because I won’t be a teenager anymore; I’ll be an ‘adult’ in that reality.
i would like to be able to ask (with all due respect), for any advice or anything. i am afraid and worried, and anything you can tell me could make a big difference for me. I have been following you for some time, and I trust your help.
i hope you can understand, as I had to use a translator since I am not a native speaker.
that’s all. i hope you have a good day or a great afternoon. may the God you believe in protect you < 3
Hi sweetheart!! I've just read through your ask and I just want you to know first and foremost, that everything you are worrying about is so so valid, but at the same time there is no need to worry about it at all. Let me explain why.
As you and I both understand about shifting is that it is everyone's own personal journey (this also goes for the law of assumption), which means everyone will experience their journey however way they believe is right. But in your case (and in many others), you've seemed to fall into the trap of taking a bunch of people's own beliefs as scripture in fears that you might violate their belief; even though a big chunk of you hungers and aches to experience a specific reality.
I can tell you I have been where you are right now, so I know how you feel, babe😭 and I also want to take that weight off your back and let you know their beliefs do not have to control you and where you want to shift to and what you want to experience. The whole "adults shifting to a reality where they are a minor is wrong" is nonsensical, stupid, and hella silly. For example, There is nothing wrong with being 23 and shifting to be a high schooler again just to relive old memories or do some things differently, because all you are doing is becoming aware of a version of you who is having a bomb ass high school life.
Okay, well, what about the situation you're going through right now. Where you are turning 17 this year, but you are worried that you won't shift before you turn 18; and your boyfriend in your desired reality is 16 but you are still suck on this rule that the shifting community has made where "it is wrong to shift to a reality where you are younger when in this reality you have the mind of an adult." First of all, please let me make sure you guys understand what the process of shifting is. Shifting is when you make the conscious or subconscious decision to become aware of a specific reality. This means you are shifting your AWARENESS. NOT YOUR MIND🙏🏾
Which means that if you are an adult in this reality but you shift to a reality where you are a minor, you will NOT be shifting your adult mind into the body of your teenself. You are shifting your awareness of this reality, into another one. Also another thing. As far as I am concerned, you awareness doesnt have an age🧍🏿‍♀️ just because you might be 32 here and you shift your awareness to a reality where you are 16, does NOT AND I REPEAT. DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE STILL GOING TO BE MENTALLY THIRTY-TWO.
Okay, so now we've debunked that👆🏾, what about your other issue. You are afraid that because you haven't shifted yet, you won't get to experience the teenage life in various different realities before you reach 18 which is your milestone. And I can already see 2 small problems. 1 is you are basing what you believe might happen on past failed attempts, and 2 is you are rushing yourself
I know how we can solve both of these issues at once. Change your mindset! And this is not hard to do, I promise, okay? I want you to do what you would normally do when you intend to shift realities, which in this case is affirming but anytime you are awake and have the time to. Literally, you could be sat doing your homework, doing dishes, having a nap, or going for a jog, and while you are doing whatever it is you are doing, affirm to yourself:
"I am a master shifter" or "I believe I am a master shifter", "I always wake up I my dr", "I am always shifting to my desired reality" "Shifting realities is easy for me" and one you can just remind yourself is "I will shift before I turn 18"/"I will shift before my milestone"
The purpose of this is to make yourself believe in yourself and your abilities. It should put your mind at ease because the more you affirm to yourself, the more you will believe what you affirm, and there for you will succeed because you believe you will.
I hope this helps you out and lots of love to you!

i will forever love aaron and luke's relationship. i know the game itself likes to posit their relationship as older brother & younger, but no. No. i am pointing at aaron yishmir and saying That Is A Father. A Father To That Maladjusted Young Man. imagine being aaron yishmir, doctor and operative in a cutthroat government organization, and in comes this BABY. well, not a baby, but hes a TEENAGER so hes ESSENTIALLY A BABY to aaron's eyes. and oh ohhhhh hes too perfect for the NSB, hes got all this self-hatred fashioned into a fear of uselessness and being a burden, and oh service is the irresistible beacon to those fears, like a moth to a flame, like a sinner to absolution, and hes too perfect for the NSB that it breaks aaron's heart. imagine being aaron yishmir, and youve grown attached to this maladjusted young man, youve taken him under your wing, and then he almost dies but you save him, but after that he tries to ruin whats left of his life. luke is frustrating, insufferable, stubborn and aaron cant leave him alone. before he knows it, he cares about this frustrating, insufferable, stubborn young man, and he cant leave him behind to fend for himself. CONGRATS ON THE NEW SON, AARON!!!!

Jewish dryad character: non-human Jewish characters
writingthrowaway asked:
Is it ever acceptable to write a non human Jewish character as a goyim? I am writing an urban fantasy story with a mostly non human cast, and there Is going to be a discussion of religion at one point and one of the characters (a part human, part dryad) is explaining that being non human and having magic doesn’t give any answers, just different questions. His character feels very Jewish to me, but I am wary of creating a non human Jewish character due to the history of anti semitic portrayals of Jewish people as non human. I would avoid things like horns, green skin, etc, but am still worried.
At risk of being redundant, a grammatical note: “-im” is a plural ending in Hebrew and Yiddish. Seraphim, Nephilim, lechayim, and yes, goyim, are all plural. The singular is goy. It’s also not necessary or particularly more respectful to express that you’re not Jewish by saying “I’m a goy” than by saying “I’m not Jewish.” It’s not disrespectful, it’s just not necessary. If something feels meaningful to you about saying “I’m a goy,” “I’m a gaijin,” “I’m a gringo,” etc, you do you, and now you’re able to do it less incorrectly.
As to your actual question, I think it’s lovely to show non-human, non-villainous characters practicing Judaism. Although we don’t proselytize, we do accept converts, and there’s a lot to play with in questions about how someone with different biological and potentially social needs would practice Judaism, although that would require a significant amount of research to write from the outside. Having that person be linked with trees is especially interesting, since Judaism has a lot to say about trees in a lot of contexts. If the character is half human and half dryad, that might open the door for you to learn more about the experiences of multiracial and mixed Jews, as their experiences might mirror those. I might point you to Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, who has written publicly about her experience as a mixed-race Jewish child and public figure, as a possible inspiration.
You listed a few tropes of non-human character attributes to avoid, and you’re right about them. I encourage you to consider also the negative tropes attached to Jewish human characters. In a previous ask I listed some negative stereotypes of Jewish masculinity, and noted that many of them are only negative if the context is set up to frame them that way. You could choose either to avoid giving your Jewish, half-human man any of those attributes, or to include some of those attributes but frame them as positive or endearing, particularly the ones about  a character’s looks or intellect, but for instance I would avoid demonstrating his Jewishness through tropes like having poor boundaries with his mother or being unusually cowardly. I don’t think you’re headed in that direction but it was worth saying.
Honestly I love the idea of non-human Jewish characters, it sounds like you’re conscious of the tropes involved, and I think you’re on the right track for creating this character sensitively and well.
-Meir
Since we have an actual Jewish tree holiday and your character is part tree creature I'd love to watch a character like that celebrate Tu Bishvat 💚
I agree with Meir that yes non human Jewish characters! But I disagree about gentiles/outsiders/etc. using “goyim” for themselves just because it’s a word in another language that you don’t actually need. It means “nations” and to me it has an “everyone else” connotation. But I’m just one person so feel free to listen to either one of us on this. I think the reason it strikes me as off is the use of a random word in a language you aren't using for anything else but that specific word, when there is a word in your language. Like it has the same vibe to me as saying you want the atmosphere in your reading nook in your apartment to evoke "shalom" rather than just saying you wanted it to evoke peace, if you're an English speaker. But yeah my response is mostly the "everyone else around us" connotation I'm used to associating with the word. Again, please don't take either me or Meir as law, we're just demonstrating the two Jews three opinions phenomenon.

Hello. I'm back with my Macau bullshit. This time: the difference between his relationship with Pete and his relationship with Porsche (because if I don't scream about Pete and Porsche and the parallels between them, I can't function as a human being apparently.) Ok so, first things first. I am aware that I may be comparing apples and oranges here. Besides the fact that they're both bodyguards of the main family and very close to Kinn, there's not really anything else tying them together in regards to their relationship with Macau. But here's the thing. That's what I care about. What circumstances make Macau act like the devilish little gremlin that he is VS the compliant and polite son of the minor family. And my boys are perfect for the job. (The post will be split into 2 parts because I guess I had a LOT to say about Porsche and Macau so, Pete and Macau will be explored in another one)
Ok. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we did NOT get enough Macau in the show. He had like, what, 5 scenes total? HOWEVER, the scenes we got were spectacular for a gazillion reasons but I'll choose to focus on a specific aspect of them for this post: Most, if not all of his scenes, were either from Porsche's or Pete's POV. And that's giving us a lot. Let's start with Porsche. He - and the audience, remember, most of this show is through Porsche's POV so that's important - meets Macau like he actually is; a typical teenager. He's moody, rude and doesn't want to deal with Porsche's bullshit. (Although, one could argue he was extra antsy because they were at the main family's house, which I choose to believe due to how the minor family is treated by their relatives.) Their first scene, accompanied by the scene in which he goes to Gun and calls Porsche out in front of everyone is Macau being sincere. It actually is him, and it's tragic as well as amazing how he's never himself again in front of Porsche for the rest of the show. Because the next time we see Macau with Porsche, it's in ep 7, when Vegas has his plans with Porsche to execute and Macau has to follow along. BUT, Porsche gets to have a glimpse of the real Macau in this exchange:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Vegas' smile is KILLING me OMG, he loves his brother SO MUCH, I'M CHEWING GLASS AS WE SPEAK-) Porsche never gets to see Macau's actual face in this (maybe a glimpse from above but with difficulty) but his voice betrays his happiness at seeing his brother and from the answer he gives. Aaaall of that fades away when the bodyguards sit down. Macau turns quiet and polite, keeping appearances because they have guests, and we have him welcoming all of them, and Porsche, like this:
Tumblr media
The show knows we the audience - and Porsche - remember what has happened between the two, so Macau saying "Hello" to Porsche carries significance here. GOD, I wish I could make gifs because, after that, after the camera stops focusing on Macau's face, you get him blurred in the background and the boy is SO uncomfortable by what's happening. His eyes dart left and right, mostly at Pete and Arm's direction - he fucking HEARS Arm's comment about "no surprise that the heirs of this family turn out like this" and he SIGHS and looks downward and he STARES at Vegas' direction when he spews his bullshit about how the minor family treats their bodyguards. My boy is PRESENT in the discussion and he hates every second of it. Isn't it spectacular then, how the next scene between him and Porsche, is the one in which Macau apologizes? I love the fact that he calls him Phi. It's so good, because in my eyes Porsche doesn't even deserve it. He never apologized for what he did to Macau. He did, to Vegas, but not to Macau himself. So, the respect Macau shows to him is so fake I could cry from laughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He finds him trying to get on Vegas' motorcycle and touches him and urges him to ride it. "I know you like motorcycles," he says, like that's a normal thing to know and not something Vegas told him to say because VEGAS is the one who knows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm dying over here, truly. Macau is amazing and it hurts as much as it's funny, because Macau must be feeling so bad here imo. He's not an idiot, he knows Porsche was in the wrong and Vegas knows as well because LOOK AT HIS FUCKING FACE AS MACAU SAID THE THING:
Tumblr media
This isn't a strict face, one that's like "that fucking kid, finally he learned how to apologize". This is a "the things I do for my plans to work" kind of face. Vegas used Macau here. And I'm convinced that he hated every second of witnessing this scene in front of him.
Tumblr media
Also, I love how Macau is touchy with Porsche. Macau does show affection through touch, just like his brother does. It's evident by the hospital scene with Pete and the scene above with Vegas when they talked + the scene in ep 2, in which he stretched his arm in Vegas' direction. But, just like Vegas, he uses that in his advantage to get what he wants here. What Vegas wants from him to get, which is, Porsche's trust. And, if any audience member actually believed for even a second that Macau was sincere here, then comes this to show them that NOPE, the boy doesn't believe his words in the slightest:
Tumblr media
It's easier to see in motion but Macau's shy grin as he sees Vegas in front of him, shows you everything you need to know about the sincerity of his words. And even if THAT wasn't enough, you have Vegas confirming your suspicions with his words:
Tumblr media
Oh, Vegas, you scheming bastard. You wanted your plan to work so badly, you used even Macau for it. I wonder if that kept you up at night. This whole scene was so...Vegas coded? It felt like Macau adapted Vegas' methods of seduction with Porsche here, didn't it? Actual Macau would never do any of that and it's incredible how Porsche only saw that version of Macau after ep 2. It makes you wonder; what did Porsche see and hear from Macau during that one-month period before the show finale, a period of time in which Vegas was fighting for his life + Porsche had just gained Vegas' right as the heir of the minor family? How was Macau's behavior then? I really wish we got to know, because Macau showing his true self to Porsche again due to circumstance is very appealing to me. Porsche&Macau in general is a relationship dynamic I haven't seen people talk about at all, which is strange due to their canonical scenes. Oh well. Another excuse to write essay long posts on Tumblr, I guess.

I frequently see people saying that the list of traits Jiang Cheng gave to the matchmaker are "impossible standards", ridiculous, unreasonable, outlandish, absurd, nobody could ever possibly meet them, etc.
Anyway the translation that's up on the wiki is:
His requirements in his partner are: naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, hard-working and thrifty, coming from a respected family, cultivation level not too high, personality not too strong, not too talkative, voice not too loud and must treat Jin Ling nicely.
First off, the list comes from a random trivia answer MXTX gave in an interview, not the novel canon. So whether you even consider it canon at all is up for grabs to begin with. Though I think there was a scene in CQL with a similar list so it would be canon there, minus the Jin Ling point (due to the point in the story the scene was set)? (So I believe the matchmaker blacklisting point still wouldn't be CQL canon though, just the list?)
But if you do take it all as a Super Serious Canon Thing, well... to be honest I just don't think that list is at all unusual, given the setting? I believe many of the points in the list are just traits considered generally good for ladies of the time period (intentionally vague as that time period may be). (I am absolutely not an expert though so please correct me if I'm wrong about that.)
To me it seems that it's not that they're unusually high or unattainable standards, they're just so generic that they're sort of unhelpful. That he has like no idea what he wants at all outside what he's supposed to want.
The only points that actually seem to have any specificity are things like cultivation level not too high. Which some people could interpret negatively, and fair enough. But personally to me that seemed more like a flashing neon sign of 'please someone not like my mother', given her strength in cultivation was one of her defining traits (and something that he may have felt led to her disappointment in him). Even though Jiang Cheng may carry forward some of her traits himself (for better and for worse; this is not a YZY hate zone but there's... a lot there), he does seem to have at least given some thought to choosing a partner to counter some of the pain points of his own childhood and aim for something different (and we see him trying to do that himself in specific ways as well, like his staunch support of Jin Ling when he was crying after the Second Siege, even if he doesn't always fully succeed).
And, of course, 'must treat Jin Ling nicely'. Which seems obvious and not like a big deal at first, but I think actually could reasonably be a big sticking point in a potential marriage. My understanding is that he was wildly more involved in Jin Ling's life than a maternal uncle would normally be. Including this as a specific requirement seems to send a particular type of statement, as if it was important to him that any potential match would not take offense to him treating an orphaned child that wasn't his with a lot of attention and gifts and favor... hmmm, how could he have possibly decided that could be a problem in a marriage...?
(Obviously, the scenario would be very different than his parents' - none of the salacious rumors and the humiliation that came with them that really drove a deeper wedge between YZY and JFM - but he was obviously going to be doing a lot more for Jin Ling than an average uncle so it makes sense to have that be a specific point upfront.)
I'm ultimately in the 'it was MXTX making a joke and not meant to be taken nearly this seriously' with a side of 'the clan leaders of this generation aren't in a hurry to get married because MXTX just didn't feel like writing their wives in and also it was funny' camp so I think there's a limit to how much insight can be gleaned from this, you know? It is fun to play with it in-universe and explore the implications on the society and political system going forward in the decades post-canon, but I do try to keep myself from taking it too seriously when it's clearly not a well-thought-out plot point or anything, just a fun offhand jokey trivia bit.
But I like the vibes of it all well enough to accept it as 'semi-canon' or 'canon enough' for myself anyway because I think the 'must treat Jin Ling nicely' point is cute and the rest is just standard for the setting and the blacklisted by matchmakers part is funny, and I'm much more willing to subsume random bits from interviews into my brain's blorbo blob if it's something funny.

I was introduced to Berserk by a guy/(boy) I was involved with last year. He - attempting to grow his manga collection last summer - regretfully, turned out to be complete scum. How telling that he ended up becoming bored with the story after the Golden Age. After reading Berserk myself…what a red flag lol. ANYWAY - at least for me, a straight woman - Guts is the quintessential, most perfect and exemplary man written for the “female gaze”. His general disposition, unwavering love for Casca, fiercely masculine nature (both protective and healthy) and tenacity are exquisitely woven together. This behavior extends beyond Cacsa too - in due respect to Farese, Schierke, Flora, Danaan…even just in modeling proper masculinity to Isidro.
I officially committed to Berserk in June. (Context: The beginning of 2022 was the first time I began seriously exploring anime in general, and since have started reading manga.) But I ,as a woman who has always loved any escapist story with depth, have never come across a character like Guts - aside from one other male character. Prior to discovery of Berserk, Jamie Fraser from Outlander was the exemplar of perfection in this category. However, upon diving into this manga - albeit a series whose readership is mostly comprised of by men - Guts is superior above all men I have come across in literature.
Additionally, I will add that the men in this fandom (with exception to the bad apple I mentioned) who vocally idolize Guts, as well as ALSO consider Berserk a love story - give me hope that good men do exist. Thank you, Kentaro Miura.
I posted this on Reddit and got backlash, I did not write this to say he is the most perfect character….I am saying he is perfectly written FOR THE FEMALE GAZE. Please look up the ‘female gaze’ because there have been a few useless comments by people who missed the point of what I said. Even more confusing are the comments by some people who completely missed the point of the entire story Miura wrote too???????
Feminists love to bring up how he choked Casca. Respectfully, here are my thoughts.
First, he literally choked her during Golden Age. Casca’s resolution and grace towards that assault is universally praised and yet people talk about her acceptance of him/his trauma as if it would be an isolated incident???????
Second, the beast of darkness emerging in that moment in the later arc is to serve for Guts to realize, and be horrified/fearful of the evil within him. Casca is the most precious thing to him - so for him to assault her in that moment is (in my view) a device to establish how serious the darkness in him is.
There are two reasons I hate when this is brought up to me. As a woman, if I raise concern about it regardless of context and ignore the numerous merits Guts has - it’d be written off that I don’t understand his depth of character. On the opposite side - if I don’t bring it up, or even better, others think they need to remind me….then I’m something of an SA apologist if I lack concern. It that suggests that women can’t and/or choose not to recognize complex male characters. Something of a catch 22
Genuinely, I wasn't sure whether to answer this. I don't really understand what it is about me or any G/G type person that inspires Gutsca fans/Casca fans to write us these long lectures about opinions you must know we're not going to agree with, and I'm not sure I want to encourage that. And also because any argument that Guts sexually assaulting Casca just proves how important she is to him makes me want to die, and I do find the refernece to "feminists" to be a little strange.
That said, I guess I do want to address this attempt to counter the idea that Guts trying to kill and rape Casca is perhaps bad for their relationship.
First of all, there is a difference between the strangling in the meadow scene during the Golden Age and the one where he's trying to kill her after having a chat with the Beast over the campfire. Specifically, the Golden Age incident was a ptsd/trauma flashback that involved him lashing out at a hallucination that brought out his rape trauma, whereas the second incident is him literally trying to kill her because he's frustrated that she holds him back from chasing Griffith.
This is literally what is happening. It's enabled by the possession, yes, but Guts himself acknowledges that the feelings/impulses come from within himself. They are motivated by his exhaustion, his frustration, the fact that while he cares about her, he also resents her because he'd rather go chase Griffith around like he had been doing before Conviction.
This is not a PTSD flashback that she gets caught in, it's him venting his anger at her. That doesn't mean he doesn't care about her or that he actually wants her dead, but it is an impulse that exists inside him, and he's struggling to contain it under the circumstances.
Second, the sexual assault is again literally and explicitly him reenacting the Eclipse rape in an attempt to get closer to/more enmeshed with Griffith like the words are right there on the page, that's what he's doing.
Which brings me to the two-pointed root of this disagreement:
Casca isn't the most precious thing to him, Griffith is. I'm sorry, this comes up a lot. The Beast of Darkness tells him that he's carrying her around just so he won't heal and be forced to move on from Griffith. It also lumps her in with the rest of his current companions as fragile flames that he uses to sustain himself until he can chase Griffith, "the true light that burns (him)." The Beast is, let's remember, just Guts' subconscious/dark side. It's not some outside entity trying to lead him astray, it's the dark feelings he tries not to acknowledge. It also comes up in interviews, e.g. Miura stating directly that Griffith is the one that gives Guts his motivation to live. When she runs off alone, Guts' first instinct isn't even to go look for her - he only decides to do that after sitting in the dark moping about the Hawks, and he directly refers to her as abandoning the Band of the Hawk itself. In fact, every time he commits to staying with her and protecting her, it's directly in the wake of him being reminded/reminding himself that when he abandoned Griffith and the Hawks it resulted in him losing everything he cared about without even realizing it. And even then, the entire time he kept promising himself that he wouldn't abandon her, he also kept vacillating - should he find her a safe place and leave her there and go back to what he was doing, or should he try to make himself stay? When Griffith takes off with her, he literally doesn't think about her even once. And to be clear, I do think if Miura hadn't passed away he would have shown more concern about her. But that doesn't change the fact that when Miura relayed what was most important about this situation to Mori (who said he wouldn't make up or flesh out anything but would just put down what Miura told him), apparently what he said was something to the effect of "Griffith kidnaps Casca, Guts has a meltdown about being unable to hit Griffith." All the people saying he's melting down because he couldn't save Casca are living on Cope, I'm sorry there's no other way to put it. He's melting down because after all his years of growing stronger and obsessing over getting to Griffith when he finally got there he was completely powerless to do what he intended to do, which was fight Griffith on something like equal footing. While yes, this ended up resulting in his being unable to save Casca, it's just extremely evident from reading the book that what he's most bothered by is his inability to land a single hit on the man who he has, in a lot of ways, lived solely to try and catch up to ever since Promrose. Thus the callback to the first duel, when Griffith overwhelmed him, and he became "Griffith's." Which brings me to
Casca's importance to Guts is very complicated, and I'm not here to say he doesn't care about her or love her as a person or that he didn't have legitimate romantic feelings for her, or that he isn't motivated in large part by his self-imposed duty to protect her. But I *am* here to say a lot of what motivates him is that Casca is his path to redemption. Casca may be the woman he had intended to be with, but what she is more than anything else, is the embodiment of the Band of the Hawk - he literally refers to abandoning her in the cave as abandoning the Band of the Hawk itself, and the idea that she has come to represent the lost army is emphasized during the Eclipse itself when Judeau and Pippin declare that if she, their current leader, survives it means the Hawks are still alive in some form. With Guts, his decision to dedicate himself to protecting her is a direct result of his bad choices in the past: he abandoned Griffith, and it resulted in Griffith being imprisoned and broken, plus the Hawks being killed... and ultimately led to the Eclipse. He abandoned Casca and Rickert and Casca ended up running around loose without any protection (that he knew of). Hell even Godot died while Guts was off doing something else, and he didn't even bother to say goodbye. Guts' tendency to chase a goal at the expense of the people he cares about and how it results in him losing them before he understands what he's doing is a repeated theme in his character, and it ultimately resolves (for the most part) on the Hill of Swords when Griffith abandons him. This puts him on the receiving end of his own callousness for the first time - he realizes he hates it, and decides he has to change his approach. His decision to protect her, to dedicate himself to protecting her, is not a grand romantic gesture, though there is romance in it. It's his attempt to stop making the same mistake and make up for what he's done in the only way he can: by not letting it happen again.

Hi!! Welcome to another Davesport ask blog. We had wanted to make one for some time but never fully thought people would care but we are happy to make one now! The one writing this post is me, @yui-lover-33! This is a blog that is run by me and my boyfriend @xe-the-void !! We co-own the account and general blog and will answer questions separately or together. Most of the time it may be together but don't get your hopes up as we balance our personal lives with this.
This blog won't be too different from many other davesport blogs other than the Dave and Jack are just me and boyfriends vers which just how our own personal projections and changes of backstory. The two aren't fully accurate as they have their differences from the cannon. You can ask them about it or not if you already know and have seen my posts on my main and twitter.
Whats the point of this pinned post?
It's just to better inform you on rules, characters, ownership of said characters, and creator stuff.
Side note: If you wanna know who is who posting or talking look for these indicators!! <:D!

As stated before this will clear up who owns what characters. (Yes, we own and draw specific DSAF characters.) It's not really owning them actually more so which ones we design and claim in the blog.
Keep in mind some are not designed and finished so some may come as a later surprise if you choose to ask them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Any characters not displayed such as the other Phoneys just don't have designs and may not be included for a while. This may change later down the line, but your stuck with Harry and Rebecca for now.

Is asking other DSAF okay?
Generally yes, you can ask whatever characters from DSAF you want here. Our main focus is just Jack and Dave but we will happily do the others if you ask them.
Just wanted to clear that general question up but I'll state the ground rules now
NO NSFW / EXTREMELY SUGGESTIVE/SEXUAL ASKS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!
I of all people want to make this extremely clear as it pisses me the fuck off and I will not tolerate any shit like that. If ones like this are sent I can and will just instantly delete them. Me and my boyfriend are minors as of this post and will not do shit like that. Even if we turn 18 we will not do it due to a younger following!
Please keep stuff SFW and on topic with the blog
From our past experiences with ask blogs, It does nothing but irritate us when people try to insert their characters into the sk blog and do weird things. We both ask that you please stay on topic with the ask blog and account with the fandom and game we are doing please.
Please don't do weird magic Annon shit
We will allow magic annons but in no way any weird shit such as IDK fetish stuff, Possibly genderbending ( since Dave and Jack are trans ), turning characters into kids, and just general gender changing or any stuff like that. asks that discomfort us will always be deleted unless the habit is repeated then we will state it.
Please don't force your ver / ideas onto our versions
The vers we have are very personal to us and we please ask that you don't fetishize, change, be rude, or just generally try to switch them up. We ask that you respect the way we portray them as it is our preferred and most comfortable way.
» For more information on boundaries I recommend you refer to the carrd I made for em :P
Overall, this will get updates over time, but almost half the time we will take the responsibility and charge to delete asks we don't like or don't feel comfortable with asking. It's no harsh feeling but we state what the grounds are here for all of you to know. We just do what we think is best and we just ask that you respect that.

Since they seem to be a hot topic, what is your opinion of Lan Xichen, Lan Qiren, and Jiang Yanli?
Like personally they rub me a wrong way to varying degrees. Not because they are bad people but mostly little things. I will admit that I have to reread the book, so fics and meta might be coloring my view. Anyway, what are your thoughts on them?
Hi! Thank you for waiting for me to answer this, since they are often such hot topics I had to wait for a day in which I was prepared for dissent in my notes to answer.
This got quite a bit longer than intended, so cutting for length.
In order of your listing of them:
Lan Xichen:
I think that he is a great character, I quite enjoy his personality type, his virtues and his flaws. He is a man who wants to do well in the world and does his best to treat those he knows with equal respect without being blinded by what others say about them. Unfortunately this creates a double edged sword as he will only accept his own opinion and that of those he trusts implicitly on matters, and he is not the best judge of character in the world, thus leaving him open to manipulation in a way that can cause a lot of harm given his position.
I do think he's a much better person than many of his generation and almost everyone of the previous generation. He has his flaws and blindspots, but he does not resist changing in the same way they do. Of every clan leader we see in the narrative, he is the only one who makes the effort to choose differently in the present over the past. His flaws do not doom him to death in the same way that it does so many others and in the end, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji do not give up on him, both of them considering him and worrying about him in their own way.
Lan Xichen makes a point of calling Wei Wuxian Wei-gongzi at all times, even when others around them refer to him with much worse and rude terms. He treats Jin Guangyao with genuine respect and tries to use his own attitude and treatment of Jin Guangyao to shame others into treating him better when they do shun him simply for being of lower rank and who his mother is, and he maintains this even when they aren't around. Considering the amount of people who cannot do this to their faces, that says something about how he wants to treat people in general. It is simply that his blind spot of wanting to trust those he knows to be good as well causes a lot of incidental harm, which he knows and will have to live with. I think he's an excellent character and does not deserve the treatment he sometimes gets from fandom. I can understand more passive trusting characters who want to care for those around them not always vibing well with someone, but it really irks me to see such traits praised in one character and bashed in another, such as those who bash Jiang Yanli for them while praising Lan Xichen and vice versa.
Lan Qiren
In all honestly, Lan Qiren is a character who how sympathetic I am to him really depends on the work and the timeline. In MDZS proper, he's kind of a toad, he very much is the negative side of conservatism, who holds grudges against the children of people that he disliked when he met them and allows his rigidity and stubbornness to color every interaction he has. He very much does cause unnecessary problems and he deserves whatever Wei Wuxian wants to throw his way in the end for refusing to let go of old bitterness and move forward.
However, there are a few areas in which even in MDZS proper I can feel sympathetic to him. His older brother was the pride and joy of the Lan Clan, their heir who would be the next leader after their father stepped down/passed away depending on which came first, but due to the snarled mess with Madam Lan and the decisions that they kept secret to just the two of them to the end of their days, he is pushed into a position that simultaneously never should have been his and is not truly his to have. He is saddled with the responsibility of leading and running their clan while his brother is in seclusion, yet he is only acting clan leader, lacking the true power of the title and ability to act as he needs while his brother remains in seclusion and as clan leader at the same time. That couldn't have been an easy bridge to walk and I do sympathize with him for that. He probably would have been a happier man in a world where he could have gone and lived the life he enjoyed without having to step up where others faltered for decades.
However, that is not an excuse to take it out on children, and my sympathies end there.
Jiang Yanli:
Jiang Yanli is a sweetie who has done the best she can in a world that leaves her little room to impact anything. She's a gentle soul, someone who prefers to lead a quiet life with the people she cares about, raised in an abusive household that she was born into. Such a thing always marks people's souls when they have to survive from the first things they can remember. She is in an engagement where her betrothed treats her terribly, where her mother transparently does not care about her outside of using her to hurt the people she loves and there is not much she can do about it beyond what she does, shielding Wei Wuxian, caring for Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng and speaking up in their defense to outsiders who would hurt them.
She isn't perfect, no one in this novel is, but she really does want to do well by the people she cares about and she goes so far to try and help Wei Wuxian when Jiang Cheng won't, even facing down Jin Zixun and everyone around him to demand apologies and respect when they insist on demeaning him, up to the point where she chooses to save Wei Wuxian's life even after he killed Jin Zixuan and she doesn't know why. She doesn't have to know why to know that she still wants him to live. There is a reason why her positive influence is so important and it's that which leads Wei Wuxian to start helping and caring for her son who has been raised so poorly, knowing that she would want better for Jin Ling and resolving to step up for him in her absence.
In a world which frequently demeans kindness, she chooses it over violence and hatred as her mother and brother would not. She deserves better than what she got, and in a good world, Wei Wuxian would get to keep the girl who chose him as her brother even when the rest of the world refused to respect that. I really like her.
In short, I guess I like all of them for being the characters they are and can see them as well rounded characters with their own weaknesses and flaws. Lan Qiren I care about far less than the other two, but I actually really like Jiang Yanli and Lan Xichen and would rate them up quite highly together (and ship them for a much happier pairing for Jiang Yanli). Jiang Yanli and Lan Xichen are very similar in character in many ways, and I think to demean one for traits the other has is to not respect either of them.
But that's just me, of course. I know that I can write as many words as I want and still people will disagree with me. As long as they give me the right to keep my opinions as well instead of trying to convince me out of them, we can still get along just fine.
Thanks for the ask! And thanks again for your patience too.

Hello Ms.Tamayo and Mr.Yushiro, I would be glad for you both to answer my questions.
Yushiro: Was your hair always a mint green? Or did your hair color change after you became a demon?
Ms.Tamayo: Have you ever found it strange that, demons go through physical changes like hair, eye, skin color and even have completely different bodies, yet even humans have abnormal colors for their eyes and hair? Like take Kamado Tanjiro for example, he has natural red/pink toned eyes, which goes the same for his sister Kamado Nezuko or for Kochō Shinobu, who you’ve worked with before, has black hair that faded to purple along with purple eyes?
Yushiro: I see that when you met Kamado Tanjiro and Kamado Nezuko, you seemed to show no remorse to the two of them and continuously berated and insulted them, all just because you think they had insulted Ms.Tamayo? Do you do this with every person? Men, Women and everyone in between? Or is this more of a Demon vs. Demon Slayer thing?
Ms.Tamayo: Have you ever taken notice of Yushiro’s feelings for you? Or do you choose to ignore them on purpose? Though I doubt your that oblivious, you seem (and are) a smart woman, so would you ever pursue a relationship with said demon?
Thank you both for your time sincerely,
-🍉ANON
{P.S to Yushiro, I am the same user that asked Ms.Tamayo if she knew of your feelings for her! Fufu, try not to shred this letter to pieces! Say hi to Chachamaru for me!}
Hello again. We’d be glad to answer your questions.
Tumblr media
I’ll answer this first question, since Yushiro doesn’t remember much about his own past. Before he was turned, his hair was completely jet black. After he became a demon, however, it changed to the mint green it is now.
Tumblr media
While I do find it… odd… that some humans’ physical features differ so much from the norm, I’ve lived long enough to know not to ask questions about it or see them differently for it. After all, genetics have always been a strange thing in my mind. Mutations can happen, which could be the cause of the “unnatrual” eye and hair colours. I once met a person whose skin and hair were all white, and their eyes were red. However they were human, not a demon.
Tumblr media
Yushiro, it’s your turn to answer a question.
Alright then, my lady.
Yes, the majority of the reason why I berated Tanjiro and his sister was due to the fact he showed a lack of respect towards lady Tamayo. He and his sister both need to learn some manners, I swear to god.
But I also typically just don’t like people. They’re often slightly annoying to talk to, especially when they could potentially be a threat to lady Tamayo. I don’t think I’ve ever been much of a social person. From what I can remember of my past, I almost never went out, never saw anybody, and-
Tumblr media
Yushiro? Are you alright?
I’m fine. Just… my head hurts.
I’ll be leaving now.
Ah. Alright, I guess. The answer to the next question is complicated, I suppose.
Tumblr media
I am well aware of Yushiro’s feelings towards me and how he views me. However, due to some… well, a lot of things, I’ve chosen not to accept his feelings. I don’t feel the same way towards him, I see him more as a very good friend and companion. Besides, I… even now, I don’t think I’m quite ready for a relationship. What if something were to happen between him and I? Or what if-
Well, there are too many what if’s. I’d rather remain as his friend than persue romance with him. That way, nothing too complicated can happen. Yushiro is aware I’m not ready for a relationship. He’s chosen to remain by my side even with it and stay with me. For that, I’m forever thankful. Truly I couldn’t ask for a better friend.

Okay!! So that was Abbott Elementary Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2!! Honestly a great premiere :D
This is just gonna be a little review and summary, not too long but with plenty of me freaking out :).
First of all: AAAAHHHHHHHH GREGORY AND JANINE YOU IDIOTSSS-
As someone who also has trouble trusting the district I feel for Barbara, and I'm kind of hesitant about Janine's switch/internship xd. I would not be surprised if they offer her a full time job and she has to choose (though obviously she'd choose teaching. She better anyway xD). But I am really glad she's making a difference :)! Honestly, everything changes when you have admin or district on your side. Also, she's definitely gonna struggle to adjust and get everything when she gets back xd, and even some before then, but I think she'll start getting close with people again :).
WHOOO MELISSA AND GARY ARE BROKEN UP!! I will say that even if I want someone who's more aligned with what she wants, I do feel bad because I just want her to be happy x'd. He really should've gotten that it was a never thing though - like, dude, she told you lol. I'm glad she was firm about it though - it was totally in character and even though it's not a surprise for her it's surprising to see on TV, and I'm really proud of her :') <3. I hope they both find someone for them, because he's sweet :').
Also the cameos were ICONIC as always lol xD. Idk who they are but you can just Feel a cameo's importance lol. Also I'm loving the addition of the school district people's they have a cool vibe against the teachers and such (Ava, Mr. Johnson, yk). Not antagonistic, just kind of contrasting. Also I love that they didn't question the camera people at all lol. I know they know it's happening, but they questioned nothing, and we love that xD.
Also we didn't see much of Jacob but I love him <3. Jsyk.
Mr. Johnson was ICONIC as always, we love to see it xD. Him telling about his life is always amazing lol, and we (they, we only got some) got the whole story this time xD. Slay.
Them getting Ava back was the funniest thing xD. I feel bad Gregory had to, I guess flaunt himself, but I think it'll still be less from Ava in the future. Also the song getting Ava back was absolutely iconic xD. On a more serious and narrative note, I like how it was already setting up Janine's rift with this storyline. She knew the answer the whole time even, but she wasn't there a part of it really at all. She wasn't even there for the victorious final moment :'/ xd. Which works, and it makes sense, but it still sucks lol xd. Anyway, it's gonna hurt as a storyline overall, but they're doing a really great job with it! Especially the fact that they don't dislike her for her decision, they're just distant. They rarely see each other (expect maybe Jacob and Janine - which by the way I needed more bestieism for them but I'm glad we got some xD), just like with her kids. Also her kids just sitting there kinda down and not caring/noticing that she's there is heartbreaking 😭. I know the feeling of losing your teacher at the beginning of the year and having them gone for half of it, if in a different way, and it really just sucks. Even though I was older than in second grade for that lol.
Also relating to Gregory and Janine: I am glad he respected her space, and continued to, but I think it's also kind of because he's avoiding the situation. It's awkward and it sucks and when that's how it is maybe you don't wanna reach out anyway, even if you miss them. I don't know. But they are idiots, and I do love them 😭 xD ❤️🥰. My idiots <3. I'm sure everything will work out in the end :).
Also Barbara with the makeup - you know what, good for her :D. Slay girlie, I'm happy you're happy :))! I'm also happy she's happy with her daily self though lol. Also the cosmetologist was really chill and I'm glad she wasn't mean :D.
I think it was a really good decision to make this an hour long episode. To catch up with what we've missed due to the delayed start and the in universe delay. Which, by the way, the reason in universe for the delay being that the camera crew got robbed is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS to me xDD. Iconic lol. Poor them though xdd. Anyway, having a bit of a preview of it all, shaking it up, and then showing us what actually happened instead of just dropping us in the middle of nowhere was really nice. I think it would be cool to see some more flashbacks throughout the season (not whole or half episodes again, just bits and pieces - maybe just cutaways), but who knows if we will lol. Anyway, having plenty of time to be in the past, get things sorted but still have their own storylines, and then jump back into the present without a week long break was really nice :D. Gave us some familiarity, some different stuff, and was a large amount of content for a big draw for getting people back into the show after a long break :). Really good! I think they made the best decision they good with the layout like this and I'm so excited to see the rest of the season :D 🥰🥰!!
Turns out I did have plenty to say, lol xD. As I kind of suspected. But yeah!! I really liked the premiere and I think that everybody got some good focus, even if others got the main amount. Abbott's really good about that :). The show, I mean, lol. Anyway!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I LOVE THIS SHOW SO FREAKING MUCH AND I'M SO GLAD IT'S BACK!!!
It's just so nice to see this amazing show that's mostly positive and uplifting but still funny and just relax for a while :'D. Also I love all my babeys (the characters) so much and I'm so glad to have them back :')) ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰😭❤️🥰.
I absolutely LOVED the premiere. I'm so excited for the next episode and the rest of the season :DD!!!
Bye guys, love you all 🥰🥰!

Nightbringer Thoughts
🐡 Theories on who NB is
🐡 Exploring Solomon’s relationships with Michael and Barbatos
Spoilers below the cut 👀👀👀
Weird Theory One: Michael forcing Solomon to use his pact with Barbatos to send MC back in time. Barb is NB but compromised.
What if it’s Barbatos under the control of Solomon’s Pact with Solomon being forced to control Barbatos because of Michael.
1. Barbatos is pissed at Solomon. Solomon making Barbatos do something against his will by calling on the pact is going to feel like a major betrayal. He might not even know it’s Michael pulling the strings.
2. Whoever pulled Solomon into that weird predicament in Lessons 9/10, where he has to “choose” between Simeon and the Celestial Realm or Diavolo and the Devildom is NB. They were testing Sol’s loyalties. They made Sol who he was. If I’m following right, Solomon landed in that strange place when Barb was all, “Begone, Thot!” So I’m still not completely sold on NB is Barb. That just doesn’t make much sense to me.
3. Solomon tried to make the MC swear to side with humanity. For the longest time, Solomon’s been humanity’s only protector. It’s a huge responsibility and due to his pact with Barbatos and having the Ring of Wisdom from Michael, he could become compromised if either of the two want something of him. His pact with Barb seems beyond just a normal pact and we don’t know what his agreement is with Michael is.
MC on the other hand, could side with humanity without their pacts compromising them. If something were to happen to Solomon, MC would be there for the Human Realm.
Side Info: Solomon’s Goals
Solomon tells MC that angels and demons don’t view humans as equals and he hopes to prove humans can be just as powerful and just as worthy of respect. It explains his somewhat shady behavior tbh. He has been outwitting and outplaying these primordial beings for nearly all of his life. He’s had to sacrifice a lot and he couldn’t let his guard down with any of those beings or they’d have “put him in his place” as soon as the opportunity arose.
Yes, Diavolo is different, but NB makes it very clear he’s been fighting an uphill battle from within and has to tread very carefully or risk a rebellion.
The angels want to guide humans because they think they’d be lost without them. Demons think humans are weak and trick them into pacts that won’t benefit them in the long run. Humans are inferior beings to both sides and Solomon has been fighting most of his life to prove them wrong.
Even with all this being said, Solomon still had to make deals with Barbatos and Michael and that very well could leave him compromised against his will at some point.
Theory Two: Lucifer = Lightbringer then Michael = Nightbringer?
We know that Lucifer and Michael were nearly identical in the Celestial Realm. Lucifer was known as the “Lightbringer” in theology as well. Is it possible that NB is simply Michael? Lucifer’s Celestial Realm counterpart?
1. Vaguely worded texts and the tone of the texts are quite similar to MC’s very few interactions with Michael. The way NB talks to Solomon and texts MC is very similar.
2. “You made me who I am.” Solomon said this to NB after they said he was demon-like. This could be eluding to Barbatos who was one of the two who helped Solomon get to where he is now but Solomon could be making a jab at Michael, who gave him the Ring of Wisdom.
3. NB wants to test Solomon’s loyalty. Solomon has been true to his word on protecting humanity but NB is pushing.
On the demon side of the things, they want peace so why would they be testing Sol’s loyalties?
The Celestial Realm on the other hand has already punished Simeon by revoking his angel status and turning him human for helping MC, a human.
If any of the realms are testing loyalties, it would likely be the one punishing its own for getting involved by saving humans (Simeon and Lilith).
Anyways…that’s all I’ve got for now. The answer is probably a lot simpler than that! There’s definitely some fuckery afoot and MC better trust no one but themselves, imo.

Note
a summary for those who don't wanna read all this, below: as some people have been wondering this, yes, you can identify as aro/ace if you're neurodivergent, traumatized, afraid of commitment or 'too young'. this is because your experiences are still similar, if not the same, as those of other aro/aces, and even if your orientation might change later then this does not remove your experiences during the time where you did identify as aro/ace. diversity in our community is valuable and you are allowed to enter and leave at any moment if you desire. if anyone judges you and points at any of these factors that have held you back, then remember that aro/ace identity is not exclusive towards those who are neurotypical adults without trauma or fears related to relationships. you are still aro/ace if you wish to be, and you are welcome if you're ready.
as for my actual, longer confession: i see people asking whether they're aro/ace or just traumatized/neurodivergent, but honestly? they're not mutually exclusive. neurodivergence can influence your orientation, yes, and trauma or other fears related to commitment can, too. but why should this be proof that you're not aro or ace? let's present this hypothethical where you're traumatized and it scares you off from romantic relationships, and you wonder 'am i really aro or is it just the trauma?' but then let me ask you, how should this prevent you from being aro? if you're averse towards relationships or you think that your psychological or neurological state has influenced you so now you're either not experiencing attraction or disgusted by it, then you still belong in our community! i'm neurodivergent, traumatized and aroace and it doesn't make me any less for being that way. if you choose to identify as aro/ace and later find out that you might want to try out a romantic or sexual relationship, then that's okay too! there's no misinformation to spread because your experience while identifying as aro/ace are still valuable even if you later experience attraction or decide that you want to try it out. there's also a difference between a desire for relationships and attraction, as the latter is the desire for a relationship with someone specific, whether romantically or sexually (in the case where it's a sexual relationship only, then i do not mean you're necessarily partnering; it's a general relationship and it involves sexual things, that's all it is). i offer to you a similar answer if you're a minor who's been wondering whether you're 'too young' or whether you will experience any attraction later. if you lack attraction due to trauma, neurodivergence or your age then your experience is similar to those of potential aro/aces, anyway, as the similarity is that there's no romantic or sexual attraction you're experiencing (which, remember, is the very definition of aromantic/asexual). your experience that is capable of changing in the future is still alike that of aspecs, even if you find out later that you're attracted to someone. that won't change the past. if you want to identify as aro/ace and it brings you comfort or peace, then i say go for it! this is your sign. i welcome you in our community if you wish to enter and i'll respect you just as much if you find out that you want to leave, should the moment arrive. some people may judge you but i ask of you to try and not let it get to you. you're okay just the way you are, whether your orientation was caused by your experiences or not, i promise! orientation can change, anyway. you'll be fine. ^_^

HOTD SPOILER
~don’t read below the gif if you want to avoid a rather large spoiler/foreshadowing~
Tumblr media
This scene between Sir Criston and Rhaenyra in episode 3 is incredibly significant for a number of reasons, so I wanted to discuss.
First, we get subtle cues that in the three years that Criston has been serving as her sworn shield, the two have become friendly. This means Criston has analyzed and considered Rhaenyra’s character in great detail. He has likely had many conversations of a similar nature with her, where she expresses her frustration and anger of the situation with her father, the marriage to Alicent, the pregnancy, and eventually the birth of Aegon.
In all that time, he’s made an assessment of her character, no doubt. So when she asks him this vital question, his response is incredibly telling.
“Do you think the realm will ever accept me ask their queen?”
He pauses,
“They’ll have no choice but to, Princess.”
It is true that for the subjects of the realm, they have no say in who comes into power next. But they do have opinions, and much of the key players in the show believe the realm is not yet ready for a woman to sit on the throne. Especially now that Viserys has a son. This answer is a non-answer, and in a moment where he could offer Rhaenyra a compliment or reassurance as a friend, instead he gives this answer, which we could learn later on that this was a calculated response.
There are no obvious indicators yet for people who have not read the books, but Sir Criston plays a pivotal role in the events of this story. It will eventually be Criston who encourages the young prince Aegon II to take the throne from Rhaenyra, and essentially start the Dance of the Dragons upon the death of Viserys.
His belief that the realm will have no choice but to accept the named heir will later apply to naming Aegon II to the thrown as well. Sir Criston knows that with the right push Rhaenyra could easily be replaced. At present, the only person who truly wishes to see her sit upon the throne is Viserys, and–in a departure from the books–Alicent is seemingly reluctant to take away that station from her as well. That will change when the King dies.
Criston's motives in supporting Aegon II Targaryen in the Dance of the Dragons are/were largely unclear. It could possibly be due to self serving ambition, as he later is named Lord Commander of the White Cloaks and given a position of influence and power. Aegon would have been easier to control and manipulate than Rhaenyra.
There is also the suspected fallout between himself and Rhaenyra after the two are rumored to have had a secret relationship. Many think Rhaenyra tried to seduce Sir Criston, but he denied her. Some think he took her virginity, confessed his love and asked her to run away together, but she refused him. Others believed that Criston supported Aegon II simply out of respect for ancient Andal custom which gives precedence to sons over daughters.
Since the events of Fire and Blood are all told in third person, the truth of that will undoubtably come to light and will likely be some combination of all three rumors in the show. What I love about HOTD is that the showrunners and writers have complete and total control over confirming what the truth of this book actually is. Each event in Fire and Blood, including the actions of Sir Criston, are all told in third person with different recollections. The show gets to choose the truth, which is so rare for a television series to have the opportunity to dictate the source material.
I have a hard time believing that there was no personal motives behind Sir Criston’s decision to betray Rhaenyra, but I held my breathe for a moment when this scene took place because it is the very first piece of a very complex puzzle falling into place here between these two. I am curious, nervous and excited to see how the show decides to tackle their storyline, because it is deeply interwoven into many other characters and their subsequent actions.
Long story short, at this point in the show I don’t think there is any bad blood between these two. I genuinely think Sir Criston cares for Rhaenyra and finds her to be a fascinating woman. But his feelings towards her drastically change, and we’ll have to wait and see what the show runners decided would be the root cause of his anger and defiance.

I dont get all the posting about Caesar and AI but when will Test of Will update again? Miss your updates + whoever hurt you sounds like a fuggin douche you should call cops
No, no. No cop-calling.
Yes, I am emotionally eviscerated from the whiplash betrayal and shattered trust from someone whose opinion I once respected, and someone I once called 'friend.'
It's incredibly hard for me to make friends to begin with. I wasn't going to join the server, but my therapist said I make an effort to make friends, so I took a chance. I opened myself up to being hurt again.
And like usual, it happened.
I had tried hard to not upset anyone.
The betrayal, the stab in the back, the ban, and the final message days later cutting me off permanently with a civil goodbye shoved that dagger through my heart again.
I am very angry, and very hurt, and crying. But I will get over it.
I felt like I was walking on eggshells in that server around everyone anyway, afraid that anything I said or did would trigger one of them.
So it's probably best that I'm out. I don't need that.
I am not a bad person. I hate confrontation. I hate drama. I avoid both like the plague.
When I'd thought I'd made a friend after trying for years to find someone who would stay, I was happy. I'd thought I'd found it with them. I was genuinely happy. That's why I was trying so hard to not cause waves. That's why I deferred to their ideas most of the time in fear of losing them.
I lost them anyway, because I had one meltdown day where I blew up at everything.
I'm human and I screwed up. I accept that.
I have RSD. What I feel is amplified 10x beyond someone who doesn't have it. That's why I'm so easily hurt, why I've been working on controlling that hurt, and why I actively avoid people and situations that cause that hurt.
When I was blocked, that was a stab to the chest. I wanted an answer as to what I'd done, so I asked for one. That was the wong move apparently. The escalation they caused kept hurting me more and more and more as I kept apologizing, trying to end it.
I was muted for trying to apologize and end it.
I expressed extreme hurt over that. I posted in anger, and then realized I'd screwed up, and deleted the post.
They banned me because I'd kept trying to apologize, and because I'd messed up with that post. They didn't' care that I was TRYING to set things right. It was all about them. Their boundaries. Their feelings. Their upset. I became the bad guy, and they turned me into a pariah over the AI thing - which they wouldn't let me explain to begin with. I became a target for their insecurities as they threw false accusations, fabricated drama to justify their own actions - that never needed to shoot to a high level - and dragged up old issues to paint me in as a villain - when all I ever tried to do was stop all of this while staying calm and apologizing. At that point, I should have fought back, because I was being needlessly attacked over tiny things that they blew out of proportion. But I took the high ground, even though inside I was bleeding.
I'm convinced they were looking for a reason to kick me out.
I was not being disrespectful.
Yeah, they annoyed the hell out of me, but the difference between being an adult and being a child is the ability to not outwardly expressing it. The difference is recognizing when you're wrong, and admitting it instead of digging your heels in due to wounded pride and a perceived threat to your life. The difference is being goaded into situations that will escalate if you participate, and choosing not to participate.
Children don't know how to de-escalate. Only escalate. And gen Z is bad at this. I blame the years of Covid that inhibited their social exposure and growth. So I can't blame them. Their caretakers are the ones who should have taught them.
These are children. A couple of them may be over the age of 18, but as stated above in behavior, the adults were children.
I tried to show them how to handle that and be the adult by example.
I took accountability for my actions.
I didn't make excuses for myself.
I fucked up, and I owned up to it.
I issued apologies without a defense attached to them - the correct way to apologize. I openly gave them the power to accept it.
They did not.
3 days later, I get a friend request. Thinking they're going to apologize, and that we can have a rational conversation to work out this rough spot in a new friendship, I accepted it.
It turned out to be a 'let's let bygone be bygones and go our separate ways forever. Don't call me, I won't call you' type of civil message.
They blocked me again before I even had a chance to reply.
Stabbing me all over again.
I know it was a civil message, but it still fuckin' hurt, because it's so final - so Exiled.
One rough spot in a friendship was too much for them to work through, they couldn't handle it, so they Blocked instead. I was willing to fight for it. They weren't.
It's possible they never learned how regulate themselves to fight for a friendship.
That means it wasn't a friendship at all. They even said in the letter, "I don't want to make friends." Well, then why did they invite me to join the server if they didn't want to make friends?
They wanted to use me for what I create. They unjustifiably hurt me - the entire server did - threw me out crying "Horrible person! We're victims!" and consume what I create while simultaneously hating me, shutting me out, ignoring me, and likely believing I'm still the villain.
It was all about how they felt. Their comfort. Their boundaries. Them not being upset. Not mine. Not respecting anything about mine. Because why should I matter? I'm not a person. I pump out the content they consume.
If there was a way to hide it, I would.
But I'm bigger than that. I'm more mature than them. I'm taking the high road and leave it open.
But 3 days later, sending a friend request to someone you had an argument with just to tell you that the friendship is through under the belief of lies... Even out of context, that's messed up. Well, I got my answer.
I forgive too easily. I always have. So what I was going to say to them if they had given me a chance to respond was this:
"Thank you for contacting me. Monday was one hell of a day. Emotions were high on all sides. We were both stressed - are both stressed out. Very stressed out. Stress has a way of compromising people. Things were said that shouldn't have been said. Issues that ended were escalated, and should have been left alone.
Misunderstandings happen. I'd like to tell you my side of the story without any rants, raves, arguments, or venting if you're willing to listen and let me explain. I want you to understand where I'm coming from, and I want you to help me understand where you're coming from, and why things blew up so this doesn't happen again. Let's sit down and talk - rationally and calmly with open minds. Please let's have that chance."
I am willing to talk, and forgive, and come to an understanding.
They clearly are not.
I left them unblocked as a show of goof faith.
I will not be contacting them again. If they want to talk, they'll have to come to me - though I'm certain that will never happen.
So that's it.
It's over.
If they comment on "A Test of Will," I will do as I'd always done; I will like it, and reply positively - happy to hear their thoughts and their take. Because that is the truth. I honestly do look forward to their comments. I'm going to miss seeing them if they stop.
So.....
That being said...
I wish them well, that they take care of themselves, and that they have a good life.
This is the last time I will ever talk about this or mention them from here on out.
If anyone responds to this bringing this up to start a fight, I will not respond.
It's officially over.
I won't have anything to do with toxic people who do not respect my boundaries, and refuse to admit when they've done something wrong.
-----
Now that that's over...
*deep breath* As for "A Test of Will" updating, I posted chapter 15 two days ago.
Here's a link.
Please enjoy. :)
((Oh, for everyone who's not in on this story, it's a safe vore fan fiction for an original story. Safe vore involves elements of guarding someone, protecting or being protected, caring, no harm, no gore, no death, no cruelty. No fetish. No sex. No kink involved. Nothing NSFW except for the fact that it's vore, and thus stigmatized. A lot of hurt/comfort. Weird, with some gross moments, but hurt/comfort. The whole premise of the story is one person healing another.
This is the ONLY type of vore I like. The rest make me uncomfortable, and honesty scare me. Why do you think I'm still disturbed and having nightmares about those scenes from NOPE that I should have never watched, and I'm still hearing those screams of suffering, imagining them over and over and can't sleep and can hardly eat? I can't handle that shit. I'm an HSP (highly sensitive person). I can't handle horror - especially something that viscerally terrifying. I really wish I could forget I ever saw it. Curiosity didn't pay off this time.
The topic of vore is uncomfortable for a lot of people, so if you click on the story, know that's what it is. And that it's the safe, soft kind. :) ))

hey, I’m Hellenistic-polytheistic-curious (not sure if people say that) and I saw a post where you were talking about how the gods aren’t dangerous and you don’t need to be like afraid of praying to them, and I was wondering how you, like, interoperate myths where gods do punish people for stuff like not worshipping them (anymore/enough/etc)?
I’m guessing it’s similar to the Christian Bible (which, not to trying to be disrespectful somehow that’s just something with which I just have experience 🥲) where, since it’s apocryphal, you just kinda accept some things and reject others due to that nature, but I wanted to ask.
Also, does one have to be certain to worship? Sometimes I worry I’ll get into it and fall out and then feel guilty or be afraid. Or that they’ll sense that I’m unsure and then feel as though I’ve been dishonest, or feel betrayed, or just think I’m not worth it because I’m not devout,!something like that.
thank you if you read/reply to this!!!!💖and sorry for the anon ask lol I’m just kinda too nervous to do it publicly
Hey, Nonny! Thank you for the ask, it's absolutely no trouble for me to answer!
Honestly speaking, Hellenic Polytheism differs from person to person. Unlike Christianity, there is no correct way to worship - no "set of rules", if you will. A lot of how worship is today can be seen in ancient times as well; people worshipped pretty much entirely different from each other simply based on which city or region they lived in. Each city and region even had myths that were unique to them! Most myths we have today actually stem from Athens (this is why Ares is often depicted very negatively in most of these myths; he was NOT favored in Athens and was considered anti-Athenian).
When it comes to mythic literalism (accepting myths as 100% real and factual), it's mostly unsustainable in worship to believe each and every myth out there, in my opinion. The reason for this is because myths, as a whole, were not generally seen that way, even in ancient times. They were stories that taught lessons, described why certain unexplainable things happened, and/or told of what a certain god might be like and why (as well as where they came from). It's definitely up to the worshipper how to interpret mythos. You can pick and choose what to believe, you can believe everything, or you can just straight up believe none of it - it's really truly up to you. I would suggest, however, looking into historical context of these myths first. Many myths written about the gods and their wrath were based on why people should respect the gods (or authority figures in general) and what happens when you don't do that. Their purpose served mostly to prevent people from going around yelling "fuck you" to the gods when they didn't get what they wanted - be respectful, and the gods shall respect you in return. Of course, that is just one of many interpretations, and you are more than welcome to believe what you will.
In reality, the gods are very kind. So long as you aren't be openly antagonistic (going out of your way to be disrespectful, cruel, rude, etc.), they aren't going to be upset with you for not knowing certain things, not worshipping 24/7, etc. They are actually very forgiving, despite the reputation some people (ahem, TikTok, ahem) give them.
To use my own experience as an example, I am rarely consistent with my worship. This winter was especially tough for me faith-wise, and for the most part, I basically didn't give any/many offerings at all. When you're having a crisis of faith, I always recommend communicating that with the gods; I think it just helps to be open and honest with them. It's like how you'd tell a friend if you needed space; it's just good to communicate with each other. They completely understood my situation and let me take the time I needed to regain my faith. When I needed to reach out to them, they were happy to communicate with me again, but when I needed some space, they were willing to provide that for me.
The gods do not abandon or scorn you for doubting their existence; they understand that faith is challenging to have, especially in a world where being religious and spiritual are equated with lacking in logic and reason. There is nothing wrong with doubt. It's actually a very healthy and normal thing. If you didn't doubt things in religion at least some of the time, you'd never have the opportunity to grow in your faith and worship. I also ind that once you go through a trying period of faith with the gods, it solidifies your belief in them all the more. ✨
All of this is basically just to say: do what feels right to you. The gods will understand if you need a break from worship or want to look into other religions. They're not ones to hate or reject people solely based on being unsure of their beliefs. You can be as uncertain as you want; they aren't going to judge you for that.
My best advice to you is, if you feel called to it, just dive right in and give worship a try. Don't be afraid to get your feet wet because, in all honesty, you have absolutely nothing to lose from it. No harm will come to you. The gods are not vengeful against their followers for losing faith, not worshipping them 24/7 (in fact, I hardly ever give daily offerings to the gods; I just offer when I have the time and energy to do so, and they don't mind), etc. You have nothing to fear.
I hope this helped and gave you the answers you were looking for! Please don't hesitate to ask me more questions; I am always happy to help. ☺️🧡

Ok but like, what is a Mennonite?
Great question! I’d first like to preface that I am far, far from an expert on this; I go to and was raised in a Mennonite Church, but we are a little odd because we’re the only Mennonite church around (you often find several in a community) and we don’t uphold the typical dress code of head coverings and skirts. Also my mom was the daughter of an army chaplain, so because of her experiences growing up and being around people of many Christian groups combined, we are pretty comfortable with many denominations. Here are some basics, though:
Mennonites are part of the Anabaptist movement, which is largely noted (among other things) for believing that people should choose baptism as adults as a sign of their commitment to Christ, rather than be baptized as infants.
We do still do dedications, which is where the parents and baby go up front at church and oil is put on the baby’s head and the congregation verbally commits to helping raise the child to know the Lord - basically showing they plan to be a good and supportive church family for this new member and the family.
Another notable difference is peaceful noncombatance. Mennonites generally hold that using force is wrong and that we shouldn’t join the military because it divides our allegiance between God and our country. This is another one that my church, at least, is more relaxed on - at least one of our members is a police officer, and my brother wanted to join the national guard (he couldn’t due to a minor but chronic medical issue). Also, as mentioned, my grandpa (who was not a Mennonite) was an army chaplain. I support my brothers and sisters in Christ who choose military service, but I also respect those who feel they should stay apart from it (and count myself one of them).
Fun Fact: Mennonites and German Baptists and other Anabaptist denominations are often confused with Amish because we are all Anabaptists and we all have a tradition of the women wearing head coverings and old-fashioned-ish skirts/dresses. However, the Amish came after the Mennonites, and Mennonites aren’t against using electricity or owning technology and such. I wont speak further on that because I am even less of an expert on Amish customs. (I mentioned German Baptists because I see them frequently around where I live; I know little of their differences from Mennonites except their head coverings are typically a cute boxy shape instead of the flat lace circle traditional Mennonite women wear.)
These next ones are, I think, pretty common across many or most denominations, and they are what I consider the core tenets of faith in Christ:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and part of the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all one God but are also distinct persons).
Jesus came to Earth as both fully man and fully God, He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to pay the debt of our sins so we could be reunited with God, and He rose from the dead to defeat the death that is the just punishment for our sin.
The Bible is the Word of God and it is true and good for guiding, teaching, comforting, and correcting.
We all have free will, and while God desires all people to be saved, the gift of salvation is freely offered, and we must choose to take it. We are saved by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior and asking forgiveness of our sins, accepting his payment of our debt.
We cannot “earn” our salvation through good works, but genuine faith in Christ should lead to doing good works as a demonstration of our love for Him and of His love for others.
The Holy Spirit is the one mediator between us and God, and we can ask the Holy Spirit to pray through us when we don’t know how to express what we want to pray. God always answers our prayers, even if the answer is “No” or “Wait,” and we can trust that His answers are for our good and His glory, even when we can’t see how from our limited perspective here on Earth.
I think that’s a decent summary, but let me know if you have questions or are interested in the Bible verses that support the different points. And thanks for asking!
