Previous Miguelverse Main Masterlist
Kraven didn't dally and ordered the camp to be settled. The spot was rather good. A prime source of water and food next to you all, soil sturdy and perfect for withstanding the hard hammering of the tools that nailed the bases for the tents.
And after hours of bickering, russian cursing, more work and the crew doctor patching your arm up, the camp was settled and food served.
Each bite not only felt heavenly, but was scarfed down. You couldn't care less if Peter looked your way, mildly disgusted and surprised of your manners, or rather the lack of them while eating.
It was the least you deserved after surviving a ship sinking, getting lost in the jungle, being chased by a giant Jaguar and a man that left more questions than answers.
Who was he? More important, How had he survived all these years on his own?
After a second plate and extra slices of bread, one of the men approached and announced the readiness of your tent. One of the things you asked in your contract. To have your own, cause as much as you trusted Peter, there was nothing better than to have your own space and privacy in the midst of an unhealthy amount of testosterone surrounding you.
"We've eaten, replenished, and blah blah. What happened?" Peter mumbled while picking his and your plate together.
You shook your head softly as another crew member passed by. You didn't trust them, and Kraven had proved to be unpredictable.
One minute he cared for his crew and the other he was leaving you to fend for yourselves. But as long as you did your job, you wouldn't be part of the russian's guessing dangerous games.
"Kraven said we'd have to make do with the little tools we have. He spent a good time of the day trying to get some signal for the radio."
"Any luck?"
"None so far." Peter mumbled as he took your things inside your tent.
A hammock was the bed, a few boxes and other storage things were placed in a corner. A chalkboard and your investigation books in another corner and against all odds, a little broken mirror that acted as a poor attempt of a vanity ontop of another wooden box. Your hairbrush rested next to it. Whoever arranged it, at least had the consideration to make it as comfortable looking as possible.
In total, you had a couple of shirts and skirts left to use. The rest remained on the sea, floating and drifting away with unknown course.
Peter excused to go change himself and you seized the chance to do the same. Catching a cold in the jungle wasn't in your priorities list. Not with reduced medicine and victuals.
You put on a dry set and combed your hair out as much as you could. Peter joined you a couple of minutes later.
The fire cracked and sparked alive as the crew surrounded it. The day had been chaotic at best and everyone tried to soothe the nerves in their own way. Some drank, others sang, others talked and soon Kraven joined.
Others simply went to sleep. Too tired to keep up after a well deserved meal.
"So..." Peter started while sitting before you, a rag and some tubs on his hands. He was cleaning the remaining pieces of your equipment.
"Promise me you won't talk to anyone about this. And I mean it, Parker."
"I'm a geologist, not a snitch."
"I'm... kinda scared of what might happen if Kraven finds out"
"Now you're scaring me.  What happened back there?"
"I know... who killed the beast Kraven is skinning." A gulp rolled down your throat upon remembering the lurid scene displaying before your eyes
"Wait... you said, who?"
A nod from you and Peter paled.
"We're not alone, that's for sure."
Peter rubbed his hands against his face, an exasperated groan escaped him.
"He's taller than Kraven."
"Bullshit." Peter mumbled almost immediate, surprised at your words.
"I'm not bullshittin' you Parker!" You had to hush your voice and soon grabbed a sketch notebook and begun tracing and drawing.
"He's freaking tall, long hair and he's naked. Well, not naked but a loincloth is everything but clothes if you think about it."
Peter frowned suspiciously as his hand pressed on your skin, to see if your body temperature had increased. Jungle fever was one of the worst things a human could suffer when away from their homeland. Cause he refused to believe anything of the nonsense that came out of your mouth was true.
A man taller than Sergei? Impossible. He was tall, but Sergei had been one of the tallest and well built men he had ever came across with.
"What are you doing?" You pushed his hands away and frowned.
"I'm sorry, I do want to believe you but.."
"I'm telling you the truth, Pete! He had... This... red hue on his eyes and fangs!"
"Fangs?" The incredulity in Peter couldn't be hidden the more he listened to your apparent rave.
"He's fucking strong, Pete. He was holding that beast by his tail! and then fought body to body against it! and He's so damn touchy. No respect for personal space!."
"And what? He smashed the jaguar to death and then kissed you?"
"Yes!" You nodded but quickly frowned when Peter tittered on his seat, unable to keep the mirth away.
"Why are you laughing?!"
"I'm sorry. You know we've been friends since college, but you seriously can't expect me to believe that, Dally."
A short for Dalhberg. The surname that put your name out in the researcher's map in London, upon discovering and naming another type of daisy and named it after you. The Dalhberg Daisy.
"You believe in the freaking Queen but refuse to believe in this?"
"I believe in the Queen's acquisitive power, nothing else. Cause I've seen it!" He explained, skeptical.
You showed him the sketch and shoved it to his hands.
"Look at that! That's exactly how he looks like!"
Peter sighed and raked over his eyes on the semi-crumpled paper sheet. Sharp features, a strong jaw and deep eyes.
"Yeah, a haircut would make him look better though." he chuckled, "Look, I know it's been a long day for us... let's rest, ok? We've got another tomorrow."
With a frown you removed the sketchbook away and tossed it on the makeshift vanity.
"He's real." you pointed at the sketchbook
"Okay, okay. He's real. We can discuss it all tomorrow when we're less tired, alright?"  He held your shoulders, trying to ease your rising anger.
But you quickly removed his hands from you, hurt that your best friend didn't believe you. "Whatever. Goodnight."
Peter left with a defeated sigh and soon you cuddled in your hammock.
"I know he's real." With a huff, you pushed the pillow closer to your face, letting the day's weight to finally crash on you.
-----
The loud bangs of a gunshot echoed through the bright blue skies, frightening any local fauna that rested comfortably, like you, that nearly fell out the hammock from the initial jumpscare.
With a heavy exhale, and rub of your eyes you geared up for the day.
This time Kraven was thoughtful enough to give you a weapon. A small knife with enough sharp to slice and dice through anything weak enough to perish under the blade.
And soon everyone gathered to the morning structions. Kraven split up the crew in three parts. The first group of men would go to the beach to recover as much equipment as they could. The second group would be in charge to set up traps and hunt down for food. And the third one, meaning Peter, you, two more men and himself would go explore and study the jungle in order to gain any sort of information of new potential species.
You carried a small backpack, filled with your sketchbook, pencils, some essay and sample tubes and some snacks in case Kraven decided to return until dinner time.
And after a quick breakfast of oatmeal and fruits, everyone left.
Peter walked behind Sergei, guiding the group whenever the mercenary asked him to. You were in the middle as the other two men trailed with their guns behind.
Morning slowly poured into hours. Tortuous, running at the speed of a snail. Each breathing felt like adding more to the waiting, bringing your nerves to a much annoyed stance.
But it quickly melted away upon finding your first discovery.
The grass laid pressed in a circular pattern on the ground. The leaves were placed strategically, as if used as cushions in great amounts. A couple of fruit carcasses laid next to them. Discarded and forgotten.
"Look at that" The excitement in your voice beyond evident. You crouched to see if there was any other clues to your growing suspicion.
Kraven and Peter stopped upon you crouching to the floor.
"What is it?" Kraven pulled his gun from it's holster and walked over you.
"These are nests!"
"Nests?" His brow quirked and you nodded vigorously, to then count the spots. Around six in total.
"You know what that means? They live in packs! Gorillas live in packs!"
"About damn time we found something." Kraven nodded, pleased as he helped you up to then mark a spot in his map.
"Good job, Dalhberg."
Praised the mercenary before moving.
--
When the sun got high enough and Peter discovered some other findings like rare minerals, the group decided to take a break nearby a lake.
The five of you sat down and ate whatever thing you got left from breakfast.
Once you were done, you took your backpack, pencil and sketchbook with you.
"Where are you going?" Kraven grumbled after gulping down the water from his canteen.
"Saw some specimens of plants Id like to register. Won't take long."
"You better return as soon as possible, understood?"
The mercenary warned and you nodded while walking away from the tree. Excited to partake in the things you were brought and paid to do.
Your first specimen was a moss plant, then a new type of orchid. A fish, some birds and more plants. Even though you studied everything alive, the plants were your speciality.
You put the little backpack in a a nearby trunk as you sat down to draw yet another orchid. The place seemed flooding with them.
Engrossed beyond wits to notice you had drifted off a bit too far from the group and a little too late a baboon sniffing and ransacking your backpack.
"H-Hey! Hey! -The baboon took the backpack away, excited and driven by the tinkling within "Get back here!"
The animal hopped on the trees before you could catch it, with graceful and effortless agility, to finally stop to a sturdy looking and serpent-like shaped trunk above the middle of a swamp.
As much as you wanted to let the monkey get away with it all, you didn't want to face Kraven's anger for losing the last bit of equipment and delay the investigation. You didn't know when the next ship would arrive. None did actually.
It's hoots and chirping only increased the more things he pulled out of your backpack. The tubs shattered as they fell off.
"Stop it!" you shrieked while hopping onto the trunk with wobbly and uneven steps.
The monkey hooted louder until it started shrieking, as if mocking you whenever your balance failed and you were forced to crawl over the top.
"God, I swear... if I catch you, I'm so making an article on how annoying you are!"
The baboon just screeched at your silly threat once more before leaving your backpack pending from a twig as he jumped way through the stretched branches that favored him like open arms, with your bag of seeds.
Your breath hitched when the trunk creaked and some cracking around the base perked up your ears.
Shit.
You couldn't stop and return crawling from where you came from, not when the backpack was oh so close to be reached and your nightmare to be over.
With a deep breath, you crawled closer and closer. Paused breaths turned controlled, but quickly grunted when the hem of your skirt stuck in a jagged branch.
"No, no" You whined and pulled away, the trunk creaked harder and you immediately hugged the trunk.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck-" with a firm yet calculated yank, you ripped the fabric away, freeing yourself although losing a good chunk of front coverage.
A thunderous crack made your breath hitch and you moved forward as the trunk stuttered midair. It was then your eyes actually considered the generous and dangerous distance from your position to the murky water. But the backpack dangling before you, edged you to take a risky decision.
Or you took the backpack and threw it on land, hoping to take the least damage as possible or jumping to that other branch to avoid falling to the water.
None of them happened as the tree dipped forward, and with a dying groan, the cracks widened, tearing the feeble base of the trunk, unable to support your weight any longer.
As in slow motion, you saw the murky water closer and closer and closer, until nothing but darkness swallowed you whole. Cold and muddy water hit you, suffocating your body with enraged water that fought hard to drown you.
Your hands were the only thing that made it out as they failed. The sub aquatic flora begun their tangling in your boots and legs, pulling you down.
Your lungs burned as some water seeped through, the backpack sunk deeper and deeper. Like a sacrifice in exchange of your life. Because a strong pair of tanned hands pulled you with a powerful yank by the forearm, out of the water before death and crocodiles owned it.
Your head too dizzy to actually understand what was happening. Your eyes could only see the landscape sliding smoothy underneath your feet, like if you were flying.
Am I dead? Dead people don't fly, do they?
You shrieked as soon as your eyes looked upwards. Powerful and solid thighs held tightly on the growing vines, that spurted from underneath the gigantic trees, as one of his hand took your arm gently to suddenly pull you up in the air and catch you in his arms.
Your instincts told you to hold onto him as the other survival mode blared with danger alarms. The massive wall of solid muscles he had for a body was warm, full of scars and plush hair that did nothing but welcome your dizzy head on his chest.
The man quirked a brow at your sudden state. He frowned and quickly got over the foliage of a tree, before the pouring rain trapped you both.
You were put with ease against the solid and definitely not rotting trunk, and your body lurched to the side to expell away the swallowed water, clearing your airways.
A firm slap from his hand made your lungs to finally get some air as you gasped and coughed, all the while he watched you curiously.
You were drenched, against a tree, clothes sticking way too intimately against your shivering body, breathing like you were a first born, raged and fast. Lungs burned less.
Eyes finally widened when recognizing the man before you. Some fresh scars littered his Greek-god type physique.
"T-Thank you." You mumbled through clattering teeth and forced yourself to take a deep inhale to control the rising anxiety.
He grunted and approached. One of his hands slid gently under your chin to take a hold of your cheek. Your head instinctively melted into his heavenly body heat, and your eyes dared to shut for a minute. Relishing in the irradiating warmth his calloused hands provided.
He's so warm.
As if sensing the good deed, the man rubbed his hands on your cold arms, mindful of the patches around your arm, a couple of times before going back up to your cheeks and neck.
You gasped as soon as his hands were placed on your chest. His hands gently palming your breast but quickly let them go upon feeling your hardened nipples. You quickly covered your chest
He watched his hands, as if inspecting them for any damage when he felt the hardened nub, to then return to your arms, prying them away from your chest.
"Wait!"
You shrieked and he took both of your wrists with one hand and hovered them above your head, squishing them against the tree, softly. His eyes raked and took in every feature of you, before stopping at your chest again.
Your breath hitched as he slid the other hand inside your shirt. Cheeks turned impossibly warmer when he took one of your breasts and pulled it out of their confinements.
He examinated the perky mound with puppy wonder-like curiosity and then looked down his own chest. He frowned. His didn't swell like yours did.
"Wh-What are you doi-" you bit your lip as he poked your nipple, sniffed it and licked it. Earning a short mewl from you.
The sound startled him and he let you go.
"T- That's not a polite thing to do!"
You quickly put the breast back and swung your hand to slap him. You had to admit his reflexes were something else cause it caught it before it collided against his face.
"How dare you?!" You struggled to let your hand go, but stopped your outburst when his eyes watched your hands and brought them before his ever curious face.
His own hand reached up, and placed itself before yours, comparing the stretched and long digits against your smaller ones. They weren't the same size, that was much true, but the texture and lines he had were the same on yours.
His eyes shone brighter than any  bewilderment. His mind had finally clicked together at the sudden epiphany that flooded his brain.
You were like him.
He pursed his lips before letting out an excited grunt. He backed away to create enough space for his arms to move freely.
He pointed to himself and spoke with the deepest yet excited voice he could manage.
"Miguel."
Your eyes went wide and you approached. He tried again while pointing at his chest.
"Mi guel."
"Miguel." His nose flared proudly and his throat grunted happily.
"Oh! I see!"
His ears perked up upon hearing your name.
"OhIsee!" He repeated.
But you quickly corrected him, with your name as you pointed to yourself and then called his name as you pointed at him.
A buttery crawl rolled down your spine as he mumbled your name.
"Exactly." you smiled.
He cupped your face again and mumbled your name once more. However, the sound of a gunshot tearing through the skies disrupted his attention from you and stood at the edge of the branch.
"Kraven" You gasped. Completely forgetting about him and the group.
Oh no...
Trouble was a tiny word of the deep neck shit you were into. Another shot rippled through, frightening the birds in the ratio.
"Kraven!" He repeated, excited.
Extraordinary. There wasn't any word to describe him better. He took you back, trapping you in between his muscular thighs and swinging through vines.
The more you approached the camp, the clearer you saw this massive black and brown spots moving away from the settlement.
Your hearth thumped with violence upon finally standing before a small group of gorillas, sniffing and hooting softly upon seeing Miguel.
Your savior wasted no time in pulling you closer to them. You shook your head, rightfully frightened.
"No, no, no wait!"
The gorillas huffed to then sniff your head, your clothes. Some even pulled at your hair softly, others examinated the clothes you were in.
Another gunshot echoed closely this time and it was loud enough to spook out the beasts out that pulled Miguel with them. You could only watch him, wide eyed, expectant. But he left.
"Miguel..."
----
Kraven wasn't one for losing his temper with women. But you, had the annoying ability to make his patiece turn to dust in the least opportunes of moments.
"I asked you, where the fuck have you been?!"
He dragged you to the center of the crew and threw you on the floor.
"I told you, I almost drowned! Why do you think I'm like this?!"
Kraven spat a few words in his native language under his breath and grunted
"You lost your equipment, didn't you?"
"I... I tried to get it back but I almost drown in the swamp, Sergei!" you explained with nothing but the truth
"You can't swim, don't you bullshit me.!"
"I'm telling you the truth!"
"Then how you survived!?"
Peter frowned as he looked at you.
"I was saved. Ok? A man saved me!"
"A man?"
"He's... Not like us. He's taller than you and he saved me!" you kept pressing, hoping the angered mercenary understood that you didn't do anything in purpose to upset him.
"He knows how to swing through the vines! And dropped me here! His name is Miguel. "
Everyone stared with derision at you and Peter seemed concerned you stuck with your story so bad to the point of risking your own neck and reputation.
Kraven' brows furrowed into a scowl and soon he pulled his revolver out and pointed at you.
Your face turned to panic, as your hands rose shakily.
"A savage named Miguel helped you?"
"He did! Otherwise you'd still be looking for me."
Kraven snorted without removing the gun's aim from your body.
"Funny you think I'd waste my resources to look up for a stupid woman like you."
"Please, you have to believe me! I saw gorillas around the camp!"
Kraven removed the safety pin from the revolver, as if peeved you'd waste his time and resources into being an idiot and not doing your work as he required.
Time was ticking and he still had no news, and for you to be fantasizing about savages and doing stupid things such as endangering yourself had proved you weren't reliable.
"You're not reliable, anymore, Dahlberg."
"No! Sergei listen to me-"
He pointed the gun once more to you "I can't keep unreliable people within my crew."
"I'm not lying!" You pleaded with all your might and tears in your eyes, "Miguel is-"
Before Sergei could push the tip of his revolver on your head and shoot, the earth underneath rumbled, as Miguel fell in between you.
Real.
Kraven stepped back as the imaginary savage was now fully standing before him. His head had to crane up to meet his burning ember eyes.
Miguel's lips snarled at him, showing his fangs and beating his chest. A clear challenge for him to fight him.
A collective round of gasps echoed through the men, but when Miguel bared his teeth, they all pulled their guns and pointed at him
"Stop!" You yelled and quickly scrambled to your feet to take Miguel's hand and shake your head with determination.
"Don't hurt him!"
Peter immediately got himself before you and rose his arms, showing he was no armed.
"I'm sure we can reach an agreement here without filling eachother with bullets, gentlemen"
"Shut up, Parker!" Sergei seethed and with a deep flare of his nose, pointed the gun at Miguel again, but Peter grabbed the weapon and the shot tore through the air again.
"Kraven" Miguel grumbled at the gun shot sound.
Said mercenary could only watch him, nonplussed for a moment. While you, again, stood your ground before the behemoth of a man. Attempting your best at protecting him.
"Have... we met before?" Kravinoff spoke confused.
"I told you he could speak! And he is real!"
Miguel remained glued at your side. Everyone slowly put their weapons down as Kraven approached to take a proper look at Miguel, fascinated by his sheer size and build.
Peter had to admit, that it was the last time he'd ever doubt your words.
"You said you had seen gorillas?"
Again, you nodded and Miguel repeated the word.
"Miguel knows them. He could help us."
"Help us? The man barely understand us, but... It's better than nothing I suppose."
Sergei scrunched his face in confusion as Miguel took strands of your hair and sniffed them, his senses awakening in pure adrenaline. Throat grunted approvingly.
"Yeah... kind of understand the personal space thing now." Peter cleared his throat behind you. The rest kept looking to see but quickly were dismissed by their leader.
"Oh, shut up." You grumbled nervously as Miguel pulled your head to his chest once more, to listen to his powerful heartbeats.
"Yeah, it's very very nice." You chuckled nervously with a soft flush creeping your cheek.
"Nice." He repeated.
Kraven could only watch but if he was the link towards the gorillas, he'd seize the chance in every way he could.
"He's way smarter than you think."
"We're running against time, how would he understand us, Dhalberg?"
Miguel moved to inspect Kraven, mimicking his gestures effortlessly. Earning a giggle from you.
"Leave that to me."

Your past and mine are parallel lines, stars all aligned and they intertwined. ━━━━ ⧗ we both had our chance I persist and resist the temptation to ask you if one thing had been different, would everything be different today? ━━━━ ⧗ i miss you Now, I fear I have fallen from grace and I feel like my castle's crumbling down. ━━━━ ⧗ what's the answer? Spending the next few years of my life looking for answers from her. ━━━━ ⧗ short You think she's just being dramatic about it. ━━━━ ⧗ she doesn't love me anymore What the fuck? ━━━━ ⧗ this is your fault Kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to listen? Hang up, give up, and for the life of us, we can't get back. ━━━━ ⧗ bad temper | pt. 2 | pt. 3 My words shoot to kill when I'm mad, I have a lot of regret about that. ━━━━ ⧗ teddy bear Seems like she don't hate Mr. cuddle that much. ━━━━ ⧗ you forgot your clothes I'm so chill, but you make me jealous, but I got your heart skippin'. You know I'm not a bad girl but I do bad things with you. ━━━━ ⧗ i'm falling again Oh oh, I'm falling inlove again. ━━━━ ⧗ gorgeous specimen I was enchanted to meet you. ━━━━ ⧗ too late words— how little they mean when you're a little too late. ━━━━ ⧗ how to seduce your wife | pt. 2 I would stay forever if you say, don't go. ━━━━ ⧗ threesome' All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting, 'cause I don't want you like a best friend. ━━━━ ⧗ i hate you Remembering her comes in flashbacks and echoes, tell myself it's time now gotta let go. But moving on from her is impossible, when I still see it all in my head, in burning red. ━━━━ ⧗ streamer' Don't worry, you're safe, the stream's off. ━━━━ ⧗ recreating memories I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you. I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you. I once believed love would be black and white but it's golden, like daylight. ━━━━ ⧗ ribbon Found my way back to her. ━━━━ ⧗ you went home early I know that I'm a handful, baby. But one of these things is not like the others, baby doll, when it comes to a lover I promise that you'll never find another like me. ━━━━ ⧗ eight years This is the last time I'm asking you why, you break my heart in the blink of an eye.

NASHURI TWINS PT. 2
The Girl
Tumblr media
(original 🎨 by my friend @commanderbunny, specifically made for me on my bday 💕 love you boo) (YOU CAN SHARE BUT DO NOT REPOST WITHOUT CREDIT!)
Born on the fifteenth day, otherwise known as the day of the Eagle (Men)…
Birth Name(s):
🌎 Men Iik (meaning “spirit of the wind”, her true name)
🌍Princess Nyanga, Daughter of Shuri (given name by the Golden tribe of the sovereign nation of Wakanda)
🌙 Ix Ahuil (“Moon Goddess”), Daughter of K’uk’ulkan (royal name as addressed by the Kingdom of Talokan)
Aliases/Nicknames :
“Daughter of land and sea”
usisi (“sister” in Xhosa)
Íits'in (“little sister” in Yucatec Maya)
In lool (“my flower” in Yucatec Maya)
In ujo' (“my moon” in Yucatec Maya)
intombazana yakho (“my daughter” in Xhosa)
“Warrior princess”
“Bringer of Death”
“Youngest Black Panther”
Ek b’alam also known as “The Black Jaguar” - It comes to no surprise the princess goes against her father’s wishes, especially when it comes to Wakanda. With her twin brother and cousin Toussaint as her accomplices, they would travel to and from Wakanda, where they learned so much about the other half of themselves, of who their mother truly was. This meant everything to the princess whose anger and stubbornness rose each day in her mother’s absence. She was the youngest to receive the title of Black Panther at 15. Although it was not for purest of intentions, rather a way of getting Shuri to come back… and stay. Her mother’s grief and anger robbed them of time. In the future to come, the princess would renounce the title of Black Panther only to take on a new mantle, The Black Jaguar — protector of Talokan & Wakanda respectively.
Chac Chel (“Red Rainbow” or “Great Rainbow”) - Attuma gave the princess this title when he saw her merciless nature on the training fields as a young girl. Born a non-mutant, she had an affinity for proving people wrong and showing her natural abilities in the art of war and strategy. She showed strength, courage and honor. Others thought her dangerous for her constant disregard for the rules, not to mention she had trouble thinking things through. The princess drew arms with Namora and Attuma by the time she was 13.
Abilities:
Weapons master
Gifted martial artist
Expert hand-to-hand combatant
Genius-Level Intellect (i.e. made improvements on water suits for non-mutants, masks on Talokanil, etc.)
after consuming Heart-shaped herb…
Gained ability to breathe underwater
Superhuman strength, speed, durability, healing
Shape shifting - Much like Steven Grant as Moon Knight, the princess formed a special connection with an Ennead (most thought it limited to only the 9 Egyptian gods). Ixchel takes possession of her body when in absolute catastrophic circumstances. It maximizes all her jaguar powers. She does not know if it can be controlled and does not remember when she wakes.
Description:
Born under the moon near the Golden City
Non-mutant, but carries physical features resembling that of her father
She loves and fights fiercely
Known for her recklessness
For the Talokanil, the jaguar was representative of power, ferocity, and valor; it was the embodiment of aggressiveness. It represented the power to face one’s fears, to confront one’s enemies.  They are also associated with vision, the ability to see during the night and to look into the dark parts of the human heart.
The princess remains very hurt by her mother’s comings and goings. Their father K’uk’ulkan promised Shuri he would do everything possible to take care of their children as best he could before she left the first time. This only meant raising them where he knew he could keep them safest, Talokan.
But the girl grew restless, she could not breathe in water like the modern Talokanil. She would sneak away to where she felt most at home, Wakanda. However their father did not frequent nor visited much after Shuri left so he forbade them of going without him. But it never stopped the princess. Sneaking out with Toussaint and taking her twin brother along, formed an unshakable bond between them all.
Her updated Black Jaguar suit does share similarities to Black Panther. However her helmet outlines, details, claws and teeth are embedded with jade, giving the suit a green glow instead of purple.
She loves her brother deeply. The twin heroes they’d call themselves after the Mayan myth. He is her confidant. She couldn’t live with herself if anything happened to him.
Traits:
Strong, confrontational, assertive, independent, protective, stubborn, loyal, passionate, charismatic, practical, sometimes pushed people too far
(Thanks to my Nashuri fam! Love you guys <3 feel free to tell me what yall think 💭)

Doofus (pt 2)
summary: you and azriel go on a date to the amusement park.
warnings: vomiting (motion sickness).
word count: 1540.
pt 1 here
Tumblr media
As the clock approached 5, the pacing around the room quickened. Your converse scuffed the floor with every step you took, and as you reached the mirror that hung on the door, you stopped to look yourself over, before resuming the pacing. Why were you so nervous? You had hung out with Azriel a million times before, but maybe the word date was just messing you up.
Then you hear it, the sound of the doorbell.
Grabbing your bag and checking that the essentials were inside, you race to the door, heart palpitating.
Breathless, you open it. Azriel had been to your apartment before, but this time, it felt different, and you could tell he was thinking it too, as his eyes darted around the entryway.
“Hey,” you say, taking in his outfit and the bouquet of flowers he was clutching. Even when going to an amusement park, of course Azriel would still be dressed impeccably.
“Hey, yourself,” Azriel replies, looking you over, eyes lingering. “You look great.”
“You’re not so bad yourself, Az,” you smile.
“I got you these. You told me they were your favourites.”
And they were. He remembered.
“They’re gorgeous, Azriel. Thank you.” you smile sweetly at him, smelling the flowers.
“You’re gorgeous.” Azriel replies quickly, his cheekbones flushing.
“Not even through my door and the flattery has already started?” you tease, feeling a warm sense of happiness through your body. “Thanks Az. Let me put these in a vase and then we’ll go, come inside.”
You hold the door for him and hum as you bring a vase out of the kitchen cabinet under the sink, registering him lean against the kitchen island, watching you. The vase was dusty from being unused and after rinsing, you filled it with water and the plant food before arranging the flowers just so.
”I know how you are with plants. Try not to kill it too quick, y/n,” Azriel said, eyes still on you.
You laugh. “No promises.” This was by far the quietest the two of you had ever been while hanging out together, so maybe the nerves weren’t only affecting you.
As per tradition, while in the elevator you snapped a quick picture of the two of you, reflected on the wall. Azriel crouched down, head on your shoulder while you beamed.
“Look how adorable, Az,” you teased, zooming in on his face.
Azriel brushed a curl away from his forehead and rolled his eyes, wrapping his arms around you as you exited into the chilly night air.
After that, the conversation flowed like normal. You got into his car, a Jaguar XE, and turned on his radio, the two of you singing along. Soon after, you were breathless from laughter, gazing out the window by Az’s head.
“You are too, you know?” you said suddenly.
“I’m what?”
“Gorgeous. You’re so pretty, Az, honest,” you smile at his side profile, admiring his chiseled bone structure and shining hazel eyes as the lights on the road reflected in them.
You could’ve sworn his tan skin flushed, and you smiled to yourself, knowing you made him feel like that. Usually he was the flirtatious one, throwing bold comments around, but tonight felt different.
The two of you joked about how nervous you were before but you promised mentally that you’d try your hardest to make it work, because god, you wanted to make it work. You talked about your parents, Azriel’s brothers, his grandmother, and how he’d been telling her about you.
You’re a little shocked. “Your grandmother knows about me?”
Azriel’s muscular arms grip the steering wheel tightly as he turns and you stop yourself from ogling further, it hadn’t even been 15 minutes since the date started!
“Of course she does. The day I met you, she said I looked like I had seen an angel, and she wasn’t far from the truth,” Azriel smiles softly.
It used to baffle you, how he could just pull smooth lines like that out of nowhere, but it made you happier than you could admit, for you joked that his ego was big enough.
You look at Azriel’s hand resting on his leg, and you crawl your fingers towards him, interlacing them, his thigh warm under your joined hands. You were on a date, you could do this now.
“Your grandmother sounds lovely, Az. I told my friend Feyre about you, and she said she volunteers to be the preacher at our wedding,” you laugh, hoping the mention of marriage wouldn’t ruin the moment you were having.
To your delight, Azriel laughed loudly. You watched his Adam’s apple bob, his jawline, and your heart tugged. You couldn’t believe you were finally going out with him.
A few minutes later, you were at your destination. Azriel expertly maneuvered the car into a tight parking space behind the amusement park. You could hear the shrill laughter of children, the sound effects from the games, smell the aroma from the food trucks, the sweet cotton candy.
“Stay there,” Azriel said, getting out of the driver’s seat before walking around the car and opening your door.
“After you, princess,” he smiled, holding out a hand for you to grab.
“Thank you,” you replied, your lips tilting up.
Under the dusty pink sky, the two of you had the most fun in a while. You went on the Ferris wheel together, ate greasy burgers and buckets of fries, shared a massive cotton candy. You even won yourself a big turtle plushie, but its lopsided eyes and creepy mouth made both your stomachs hurt from laughing. Obviously, Tyrone the Turtle was your new favourite thing.
Afterwards, the two of you walked around the stalls, looking at the novelty prizes and taking in the other sights and sounds.
“Oh yeah,” Azriel said, stopping abruptly.
“No Az, no. No way.” Your eyes widened after seeing where he was pointing, grabbing his arm to tug him in the opposite direction, but to no one’s surprise, he didn’t budge.
“Oh yes, y/n. I bet it’ll be fun!” His eyes lit up like a small child’s upon seeing the Haunted Horrors Mansion. Whose stupid idea was it to put up a haunted house in April anyway?
“I bet it won’t,” you grumbled. “Since the Great Clown Catastrophe of 2011, I’ve sworn off haunted houses, you know this.”
“Ah, but back then you didn’t have me there to save you,” he flashed a grin, pulling you toward the entrance door.
***
“Well, that was traumatic,” you say drily.
“It was,” Azriel agrees. “The worst haunted house I’ve ever been in.”
You glance at each other before cracking up.
In between laughs, you say, “I can’t believe the guy actually fell over trying to jumpscare us, Az.”
Azriel laughs louder, “He tripped on nothing! I bet I could be a better fake serial killer than him.”
“By charming pretty girls before luring them to your cabin in the woods? Sure.”
“How’d you guess?”
“Because that would be my tactic too. Okay, well now we’ve done your thing so let’s do mine,” you smile deviously.
“Y/n, please tell me it’s not that crazy upside-down ride we saw,” Azriel pleaded.
“We’re going on the crazy upside-down ride!” You cheered.
*** (tw: vomit)
The two of you stumbled out of your seats, collecting your bag. Going down the stairs felt like a mission.
“Az, that was traumatic. I didn’t think we’d be dangling for so long!” you say, clutching your stomach.
Azriel steadies you, looking only half-sympathetic before asking, “With a name like Airtime, you thought it would be mellow?”
“No, seriously. I think I’m going to be sick. Hold this!” You stuff your bag into Azriel’s arms and dart for the nearest bush. Azriel stays 5m behind you and winces when he hears you retching. Settling your stuff on a bench, he runs up to hold your hair back for you.
It was gross. The feeling of vomiting, your throat closing up, that awful smell, but you were glad Az was there. He cleared his throat, rubbing circles on your back with his free hand, muttering “good girl, you’re okay” and “take your time”.
When you straighten up, he tucks your hair behind your ears, eyes scanning yours for any sense of remaining discomfort.
“Poor plant,” you sniff.
“Yeah,” Az agrees.
Your smile is shaky, “Well, that was romantic.”
“You bet. You feeling alright now? Have some of my water.”
You take massive gulps, gargling the taste from your mouth. Eugh. Walking back to the bench, you pop a mint in your mouth and offer one to Azriel, who surprisingly takes it, though supposedly hating the taste. The two of you sit there in silence for a few minutes, taking in the moon’s glow, listening to the sounds coming from the carnival behind you.
“What a way to end a date,” you say, smiling at him.
Azriel smiles back, hesitating before asking, “The date’s over? I was hoping to get a kiss.”
“How can you even think about kissing me right now?” You gesture vaguely at the bush, turning your head so he doesn’t see your cheeks heat.
Azriel answers honestly. “I always want to kiss you, y/n.”
He leans in, and your lips meet.

[Image description: A digital illustration of Ann Takamaki from Persona 5. She is shown from the shoulders up. She is wearing her Panther outfit. The mask is drawn to look more animalistic, with fangs and a more relaistic nose. The mask also has a jaguar-print pattern on the sides. The eyes of the mask look like jaguar eyes but blue. Ann is looking down at the viewer, with her mouth open making a growling expression. Her gloves are darker colored than canon and they have claws on the end of the fingers. The background is bright magenta. End image description.]

Hey Author chan
Happy new year!!!
I love what you did with my request its sooo dfadjfkjskfnjg I love it and I was hoping if you can do a pt.2 to see how reader chan progressed since she took the job as well as if their relationship took off. It would be the best birthdaay gift EVER
Hi there, @omgsuperstarg ! Thank you so much for your patience, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. Also, I wish you a belated happy, happy birthday. I'm thinking about turning this into a series called "You're Never Leaving" in which the reader - our journalist - becomes a part of Mr.Hiddleston's dark world and his inner circle. Without any further ado, I hope you like this Part 2.
You're Never Leaving - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jaguar!Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Word Count: 4,273
Read Chapter One here
Summary: A private dinner with the enigmatic and elegant Tom Hiddleston gives you the opportunity to learn more about the CEO of Imperial Pharmaceuticals, both the good and the bad.
Warnings: Brief mentions of murder and drug overdose deaths. Also, a lot of self-indulgent fluff.
"A table for two at Circolo Poplare - apparently it's a fancy Italian restaurant in London - at six o'clock. And a cocktail dress code," you told your supervisor from the magazine you worked for. It was taking every ounce of willpower inside you to maintain a calm tone. Let's just say the past few hours had something of a mental rollercoaster for you. First, you met in person the enigmatic, ruthless business tycoon named Thomas Hiddleston. Then, you nearly lost your job and landed your magazine in a dangerous lawsuit thanks to one move of yours. You would've had everything you needed if you hadn't been caught by the Mr.Hiddleston while rifling through potentially incriminating documents regarding his company. Then, the enigmatic, dark CEO fed you threats of blacklisting you in the world of journalism before surprising you with a job offer.
Yes, a job offer from Mr. Hiddleston. Instead of moving forward with his threats about suing the very magazine that sent you to London or this interview, Mr. Hiddleston offered you a position at Imperial Pharmaceuticals. As a part of his personal PR team, you would be managing his press and speaking on his behalf to journalists. He lured you in with a perfect mixture of fear and temptation, promising you that this position would give you the upper hand against any journalist working for Forbes, the New Yorker, or any other esteemed publication. And he ended your meeting this afternoon with your signature on a one-year contract, a smug smile on his face, and his lips on your cheek. The last part isn't so important…maybe except for the way his lips felt so soft, like two cotton pillows, when they brushed against your cheek. And the scents of vanilla and champagne in his cologne, which you caught a whiff off when he came close to you…And how he momentarily cupped your arm when he boldly kissed you.
"That's more like it, darling."
God dammit, how did his voice get inside your head?! You mentally cursed yourself and loudly sighed, holding the phone close.
"You sure it's not a date?" Your supervisor teased.
"What? No…no, no no…no, no, no, no, no!" You repeated as many times as possible, pinching the bridge of your nose. "God, no. It's strictly professional…he-he just has a busy schedule."
"Cocktail dress code?"
You painfully shrugged. "Every restaurant has standards, especially this one."
"Alright." Wishing you good luck, your supervisor ended the call. Now it was you and your anxiety alone in a hotel room together.
Had this interview gone as seamlessly as you'd hoped, you'd be spending this evening in a pub with a pint of Guinness, celebrating your success at finally exposing the corrupt CEO of Imperial Pharmaceuticals as a murderer and sadist wearing a corporate veneer. You would proudly finish at least two pints, and then head to your beloved keyboard to type the story you were sure would be your big break. The one piece of journalism that would show your supervisor, your readers, your editors, and every other great magazine that you were a writer to be reckoned with, someone who would do whatever it takes to expose the truth.
But instead, at five-thirty, you were frantically fixing your hair while simultaneously using the hotel shower to steam the one nice dress you packed in your suitcase. It was more on the business professional side than cocktail in your opinion, but it would have to do. You took the navy A-line crewneck dress out of the shower and hung it on a rack before taking a shower yourself.
When you returned, wrapped in a towel and surrounded by some more steam, you picked up your mobile phone. Among the News notifications, there was a story about Imperial Pharmaceuticals launching a new line of sleeping pills to fight insomnia. And apparently those pills seemed to have little to no side effects, save for hallucinations and lucid dreaming.
"That can't be true," you muttered to yourself, switching to YouTube so you could play your favorite songs while getting ready. Chances were that you were going to end up writing stories just like the one you'd just seen, or at least providing the information for them. His little mouthpiece, telling the press anything that Mr. Hiddleston wanted them to know.
You sighed again as you rubbed facial moisturizer on your cheeks and forehead. While you put on your makeup, starting with the primer, you mulled over your fate. This wasn't what you got into journalism for…you were hoping to write groundbreaking stories about people, stories that would have some sort of impact, not corporate propaganda. Yes, that's exactly what it was: propaganda. You would be putting out glorified story after story about the progress of Imperial Pharmaceuticals, and making every action of Mr.Hiddleston's look ground-breaking or generous or whatever he wanted to look like. On the bright side, at least the contract was only for a year. After that, you could take a new job that was less profit-oriented and more passion-focused.
Just then, your phone buzzed. A phone number from the United Kingdom?
"Hello?"
The person on the other hand said your name, as if he waned to check his pronunciation.
"I'm calling on behalf of Mr. Hiddleston. He's sent a car to pick you up. Are you at the Carlton 90 hotel right now?"
"Yes…how did you know?" You bit your lip.
"Mr. Hiddleston said he'll meet you at the Circolo Poplare at six. I suggest you come downstairs now; the London traffic shows no signs of slowing down. And Mr. Hiddleston does not take kindly to lateness. "
"Alright, I'll be there…" Furrowing you eyebrows, you finished getting dressed and slipped a dark coat over your dress. Wearing the same shoes you wore for the interview earlier today, you grabbed your phone, notepad, pens, a mini voice recorder, a clutch, and then rushed out of the hotel.
Surely enough, there was a black town car with a driver waiting to take you to Circolo Poplare. Your courteously greeted the driver and entered, remaining vigilant while he drove. Of course he told you that he was sent by Mr. Hiddleston, but you needed to know that he was actually taking you to the restaurant and not anywhere else.
The car pulled up in front of a brick building, with the bottom floor painted black and decorated with climbing vines. Potted plants with red and orange flowers surrounded the doors and windows, which were bordered with gauzy curtains. There was a line of people slowly forming outside of the restaurant, just in time for dinner, and it you sighed in relief, knowing the driver brought you to the right destination.
"Don't worry about them," the driver took one pitiful look at the line of people. "That's one of the perks about working for Mr.Hiddleston."
Reluctantly thanking the driver, you climbed out of the car and smoothened your dress. He escorted you to the doorway, showing the restaurant host a small placard. Seeing it, the host straightened himself. "Right this way, miss."
You followed the host through the restaurant, passing by various tables filled with people dressed in elegant clothing, drinking wine and chattering. One of the tables had a circle of tuxedo-clad men with white hair, raising their Negronis in a jovial toast to 'wives and sweethearts'. Perhaps they were college friends, reuniting after decades apart. At a table to your left, a girl - probably no more than nineteen - twirled at a plate of spaghetti while wearing a strapless magenta dress, crossing one leg over the other. Across from her, a middle-aged man - perhaps her father sat across from her, digging into his marinara sauce-covered entree. The man's forehead crinkled as he spoke to her, his eyebrows furrowed and his tone incredibly hushed. On the other hand, the girl seemed like she was trying to appear nonchalant, keeping her eyes on her food and her free hand gripping at the edge of her chair.
"Right here, miss." The host directed you to a round table covered by a white cloth, with silverware set for two, a bouquet of roses on the table, with two wooden pillars nearby to ensure privacy. Across from one of the chairs was a large window offering one of the most beautiful nighttime views of London you could ever imagine. You could see three double-decker buses pass right by, surrounded by pedestrians making their way through the rest of the traffic. Behind the buses, a brick apartment complex with black shutters shone through the night with yellow-lit windows. You could only imagine the lives some of those people led, living in such a high-profile area of the city.
The host took your coat and hung it over your chair, offering you to sit down. "Ah, there she is." A smooth yet crisp, distinct voice made you look up almost immediately.
Mr. Hiddleston sat down across from you, wearing a black and grey checkered, razor-sharp suit. Every dark hair upon his head was gelled back and combed into place, making his skin seem pale in the warm lighting of the restaurant. Handsome yet almost… predatory, dominating like a creature of the night.
"Thank you so much for meeting with me tonight, I-I really appreciate it." You straightened yourself while reaching for your clutch. Trying to maintain casual eye contact with the CEO sitting across from you, your fingers fumbled around for your recorder for this interview…only to find it missing. Did you forget it at the hotel? Did it fall out of your clutch on the way to your table?
"The pleasure is all mine." Mr. Hiddleston tilted his head. "Is something bothering you?" He calmly asked as if he knew exactly what was running through your mind .
"Um…no, no." Now was not the occasion to waste time rifling through your things. You were in the middle of an interview, a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with the great Thomas Hiddleston. Taking a deep breath, you looked up and made eye contact with him, keeping your expression as professional as possible.
For a moment, it almost felt as if you were meeting him for the first time. Like the events of this afternoon had never happened.
A middle-aged server appeared behind Mr. Hiddleston and poured two glasses of red wine, setting one of them in front of you. "Is it the Zinfandel from 1996?" He asked the server.
"Yes, sir."
"Good." Mr. Hiddleston picked up his glass and gently swirled its contents.
"The chef wanted me to tell you that your appetizer will be arriving shortly."
"I look forward to it." Mr. Hiddleston turned his attention to you now, raising his glass and inviting you to do the same.
Remain professional, you told yourself as you silently joined his toast and took a drink. Let's remember. No more than one glass. You're going to have to remember everything tonight for your article, especially since your voice recorder is MIA.
"So…" You began after another sip of wine for courage. "Congratulations on your new drug for insomnia."
"Thank you." Mr. Hiddleston mirrored you and placed his hands on the table. "I'm very proud of the work that's been done. Some of the executives and the scientists are going to celebrate at a nightclub on Friday."
"Sounds like fun."
Mr. Hiddleston's pink, thin lips curled upwards. Just then, the most gourmet-looking plate of bruschetta was placed in the center of the table. Six pieces of toasted bread with golden crusts sat upon the serving platter, topped with yellow and red chopped tomatoes, a few slivers of garlic, ribbons of fresh green basil, and drops of golden olive oil that glimmered in the incandescent lighting of the restaurant.
He eagerly grabbed one of the pieces and immediately took a large bite, his smile signaling his approval to the server while he chewed.
As you tried one of the bruschetta for yourself, you couldn't help but savor the contrast between the crunch of the bread and the softness of the ripe, juicy tomatoes. The subtle spiciness of the garlic was present enough to be enjoyed, but not enough to overpower the other flavors of the bruschetta, especially the earthy basil. And the smoothness of the olive oil just tied everything together like a ribbon tying a present. "This is delicious." You almost moaned. "Have you…you've probably been here before, right?"
"Of course, darling. I'd want nothing but the best for my newest employee."
Oh wait, that's right. You weren't just interviewing a businessman or a potential criminal, you were interviewing your future boss.
"I appreciate it, thanks." You managed to say before taking another bite.
Mr. Hiddleston took another sip of wine, and licked his lip. "Have you given them your two weeks' notice yet?"
"I have," you lied.
"When you've finished writing your story about me, I'd love to see a copy. Preferably before publishing it - I'd rather avoid any unpleasant surprises." Mr. Hiddleston chuckled.
"I will," you promised, the same way any employee would tell their boss without a word of protest. "So…why insomnia?"
"Well, it is something people struggle with."
You finished your first piece of bruschetta. "Of course, but I thought a company like yours would prefer to focus their attention on more novel, more topical problems that affect people's health. Isn't there already a competitive market for sleeping pills, and natural supplements like melatonin?"
Mr. Hiddleston bit into his second piece of bruschetta, his cheekbones protruding through his porcelain skin while he chewed. "Do you take melatonin?"
"I used to in college…not anymore."
He rested his right elbow on the table while eating. "Melatonin has a half-life of twenty to fifty minutes, which means its effect would diminish by half within that time. In my opinion…that's far too little time for an insomniac to fall asleep."
"But…isn't that kind of a good thing? This way the drug doesn't stay inside the body for too long."
He nods. "Perhaps, but our drug has a longer half-life and none of the side effects." As Mr. Hiddleston continued to explain the science of melatonin and the business pitch of his company's new drug, simultaneously finishing one more piece of bruschetta and the rest of his glass of wine, you couldn't help but admire the breadth of knowledge he carried about his company's work. There was definitely no way that you were going to remember the way he explained in detail how melatonin was found in the pituitary gland of the brain, not without your voice recorder, but the confidence in his voice and his intellect would receive a mention that was more than honorable. As would the fact that his drug apparently had the fewest side effects of any sleeping medication.
Mr.Hiddleston seemed to notice you zoning out, and he leaned back in his seat. As if on cue, the same server from earlier appeared at your table with two menu cards. "I think someone is ready for the main course." Mr. Hiddleston smirked while a menu was given to you. You had barely glanced at the names of the entrées, many of which were in Italian, before Mr.Hiddleston declared his order with perfect pronunciation. "I'll have the torciglioni alla genovese. And the lady will have the…" he pretends to pause for thought, "gnocchi tricolore." With a playful smile, he handed his menu to the server. You reluctantly returned the menu to the server, pleasantly surprised that Mr.Hiddleston would order for you without even asking first.
But then again…maybe it shouldn't have been such a surprise. After all, Mr.Hiddleston seemed like the man who always preferred to be in control. He was the one who made the reservation, he was the one who sent a driver to pick you up, he was the one who chose the wine, he was the one who initiated the toast, and he was the one now controlling the direction of the conversation. But why would he do all of this, unless he had some sort of ulterior motivation?
"So…" Mr.Hiddleston brought you back into reality by enunciating your name, "what do you think about before you go to sleep? Since we've been talking thus far about insomnia and the inability of some to sleep…what plagues your thoughts at night?" He takes a sip from his second glass of wine.
"I…think about the work that I have to do the next day." You stammered, tracing the rim of the glass with your finger.
Mr. Hiddleston tutted. "What a pitiful way to live."
Nervously chuckling, you looked down for a moment. "Yeah…you're right."
"Is that all you think about, your work? Surely, there must be something else…someone else that occupies you at night? Come on, darling."
You shook your head, continuing to sheepishly laugh. "No. No one."
He glanced at his silver Officine Panerai watch, and then turned his attention back to you, grinning like a playwright witnessing his own scenes being brought to life. "You know, sometimes the things we think about at night affect the quality of our sleep."
Just then, the server returned with both of your entreés. He placed a platter of rigatoni-like pasta tossed in meat sauce in front of Mr.Hiddleston and then proceeded to grate fresh pecorino cheese on top of the dish, effortlessly moving the block of cheese along the grater as if he were playing a mandolin. The server stopped as soon as Mr.Hiddleston raised his hand, and respectfully backed away. While Mr.Hiddleston tasted a forkful of the torciglioni alla genovese, closing his eyes while he chewed, the server brought you the gnocchi tricolore. The little red, green, and yellow dumplings were evenly covered in a thin tomato sauce that smelled of Italian herbs. Just as he'd done with Mr.Hiddleston's entrée, the server began to grate a little fresh cheese on top of your food, just enough to garnish the gnocchi.
"My compliments to the chef tonight," Mr.Hiddleston beamed after he'd finished his first bite. "The lamb ragu is exquisite."
"I'll be sure he gets the message, sir." The server cleared the table of the remaining bruschetta, refilled Mr.Hiddleston's wine, and left the table.
Feeling a little bold in the moment, you straightened yourself and leaned forward ever-so-slightly. "And what about you, Mr.Hiddleston?"
"What about me, darling?" Mr. Hiddleston continued to enjoy his pasta, returning to his former delight.
"What do you think about when you fall asleep?" You pricked your fork into a few of the gnocchi, preparing to take a bite.
He chuckled, showing a thin row of white teeth. "Nothing."
Holding a hand over your mouth while you chewed, the gnocchi almost seemed to melt in your mouth. The tomato-based sauce seemed to complement the starchy, potato flavor of the tri-colored dumplings very well without overpowering the dish, and it was unlike anything you'd ever had before. "Nothing?"
Mr.Hiddleston shook his head, mimicking your gesture.
You almost found yourself wishing this truly was a date and not an interview. If it was a date, you could completely focus on how utterly charming Mr.Hiddleston could be…maybe you could forget, even just for a moment, that this man was the same person who threatened to sue the magazine you worked for. That this man was the one who could've blacklisted you in the world of journalism and yet chose to offer you a job at his company.
"The truth is that…I don't sleep very often." He confessed while the two of you ate. "About three or four hours a night. My schedule keeps me quite busy."
You asked him if he ever needed medication to sleep, and he laughed quietly.
"As a matter of fact, no. Quite ironic, isn't it darling?" Mr.Hiddleston continued, "When I retire for the night, however late it may be, I'm very tired to the point that my eyes close as soon as my head meets the pillow. Truly, it's that simple."
"You really are a busy man," was all you could say.
He finished his second glass of wine. "You'll have a chance to see that firsthand when you start working for me next week."
Next week? How on earth were you going to start a new job in one week? Is that really the date he listed on his contract, or was Mr.Hiddleston trying to mess with you? You gulped, looking down at your half-eaten gnocchi. You would need to find a place to live, a way to commute to the headquarters of Imperial Pharmaceuticals, a work permit…and that was just the tip of the iceberg.
"Besides," Mr.Hiddleston added, "I find real life much more fascinating than the Realm of Morpheus, especially…right now."
The server soon returned, inquiring if the two of you were interested in ordering dessert. Mr.Hiddleston politely declined, glancing in your direction. "My sweet tooth has already been satiated. Just the cheque will be fine, and a takeaway box with calamari and arancini."
Wondering what the takeaway box could possibly be for, you watched the server clear the table once again and made a mental note to pick up some ice cream when this interview is over. When the cheque arrived inside a black Castilian folder, you reached for your credit card and placed it on top before Mr.Hiddleston gently put his hand on top of yours.
"This is a business expense," he explained with a smirk, handing his black MasterCard to the server. "A welcome dinner to celebrate my newest employee."
Mr.Hiddleston raised the glass of wine again and proposed a toast. "To your future at Imperial Pharmaceuticals." The server returned his card to him, and handed him a bag containing the takeaway box he requested. "Ah, thank you." He handed the server a fifty-pound note.
Mr.Hiddleston pushed your chair back, gently helped you put your coat on, and personally returned your clutch to you. Then, he offered you his arm and the two of you walked towards the exit of the restaurant. In that moment, you swore that a stray camera - probably not paparazzi - nearly blinded you for a moment. On the other hand, the CEO of Imperial Pharmaceuticals was barely paying any attention. With the arm holding the takeaway bag, Mr.Hiddleston raised a mobile phone to his ear and conversed in a serious tone.
"Miss Adler, I understand that you think you know them well, but I assure you, Shelby will take care of the trouble in Baker Street. I think my men can handle a pair of boys with big heads. Perhaps it's in your best interest to back away from the matter now. This is your last warning."
With those words, Mr.Hiddleston ended the call.
Baker Street…why did that name sound so familiar to you? And then, you remembered something you'd seen while rifling through Mr.Hiddleston's office - on top of his desk, there was a stick note that said, 'Silence the Baker Street Boys.' That could only mean that he was planning to do something to the detective that lived there, the one who knew about Mr.Hiddleston's potential involvement in a mass overdose within a London community riddled with drug addicts. But…if Mr.Hiddleston found the need to 'silence' someone with a word against him, then it probably meant that Mr.Hiddleston wasn't just involved in it, but might've had a hand in organizing the crime. Either way, the Baker Street Boys - including the detective - needed to watch their backs.
"I believe this brings us to the end of our evening together." Mr.Hiddleston turned to you with a smile.
You nodded. "Thank you very much for dinner…this was nice."
Mr.Hiddleston leaned in and kissed your cheek just like he did earlier today, sending a tingle down your spine. As he leaned in, you caught a whiff of his cologne - the same sophisticated scents of vanilla and champagne - and felt your heartbeat quicken just a little.
He walked towards the front of the black town car parked outside the restaurant and presented the takeaway to the driver, the same jovial man who brought you here, as a gift for his troubles that evening. After bidding you good night, and making sure you got into the car safely, Mr. Hiddleston took out his keys from his pocket and opened the door to his own vehicle: a sleek, dark grey Jaguar.
He climbed into the front seat and locked the door. Then, he leaned back in the front seat and fished from his pocket…your voice recorder. He'd swiped it from the host of the restaurant, the same one who escorted you inside and helped you remove your coat. From there, the host was able to steal the recorder from your pocket and hand it to Mr.Hiddleston under the table.
Mr.Hiddleston pressed the play button, a small smile forming on his face as soon as he heard your voice. "Thank you so much for meeting with me tonight, I-I really appreciate it."
He murmured with a small smirk, glancing at the rear-view mirror to see the black town car drive away. "It was my pleasure." Mr.Hiddleston set the voice recorder aside, and put his foot on the ignition pedal.
