i want to know how a human dies goes to hell and gets promoted as a prince of hell
Like i know it was a title given in spn but we need to explore this
Okay okay, lemme get into the vault of spn in my brain 'cause I swear I only remember parts of things. Are we talking about Crowley? Because wasn't he a human who died, went to hell, and then later became the king of hell? I don't remember if there was a prince or not. But I guess in spn, human souls could choose to become demons? Or maybe it was that human souls that were tortured enough just became demons?? I can't quite remember.
I do remember Crowley taking over once Lucifer was in the cage 'cause he was like now's my chance lol.
I think it definitely depends on what world you're looking at. But if I was writing a story that involves this kind of thing, I don't think it would be possible for a human to become a prince of hell. If I was the one creating the lore for such things, I would say this is not possible.
If a human dies and goes to hell, they're going there to be tortured for living a terrible life. (Religious ideas aside, this is purely in the context of fiction.) So it wouldn't make sense to me if they somehow had the ability to get promoted. Maybe a demon could be like, hey work for me and I'll get you promoted, but what's the human gonna do? Try to tempt souls? They're a human. They wouldn't have the same powers a demon would have. So to me it makes no sense. And I think the only way it could actually happen is if a demon was like okay I'm a super high ranking demon and I'm promoting this human because I want them by my side for some reason. Like if a demon fell in love with a human or something. And they promoted the human just to save them from the torture.
But these are just my thoughts. All such things are open to interpretation, so someone could certainly create a world in which it's possible for a human to become a prince of hell. In the end I would say the only limit is your imagination lol.

As much as I like ships involving Mama… do you think she’s capable of moving on to being with people other than Papa? After all, she is still wearing black and a wedding ring after approx 3-4 years after his death…
Yes, I do. Realistically though it would not be anytime soon. I see her as truly "moving on" only when Yinu is either a teen or adult (or if Yinu stop playing music professionally because I think being in that environment that is so heavily connected to Papa is not allowing Mama to properly grieve and "move on," which is different for Yinu as that environment has helped her to grieve).
Also like, the term "moving on" is something I have a problem with (personally, not because of you), because so many people seem to think moving on means forgetting the person you loved. At least the people who I surround myself with.
I can see Mama being able to move on in the sense that she will always love Papa as her first and true love, but will be able to love someone (hopefully) just as much as she did Papa.
Idk, it just feels like so many people have this conception that they can only love one way and that you can't love someone more without like invalidating that old love. It's why I see her and Neon as never truly getting together because both of them are afraid that if they love someone new, then that love they had for their old SOs was "fake," a "waste of time," or "not true love" when it did feel like true love at the time.
This I play up a lot in Neon J as more he can't even get over Martha since he still loves her, is afraid to love again, and doesn't think he can love someone else like he did her.
For Mama, she is less afraid of loving again, with her totally being okay with one day finding someone new, but is more afraid she might love someone more and end up forgetting about the love she had with Papa. She doesn't want to muddle the memories she has and so not dating and continuing to grieve is what are keeping those memories alive but they are also making those happy memories bitter and painful.
It also doesn't help that she does not want Yinu to forget her father, so dating someone when Yinu is young feels wrong to her. Mama feels like the second she starts seeing someone new, Yinu will either push the memories of Papa away or get mad at Mama for "trying to erase Papa."
Though Yinu would not act like this. She wants Mama to be happy and if that means getting someone new to love, then Yinu would be okay with that. She knows no one will ever replace Papa and wants Mama to realize that as well.
This is why I really like Mama and Neon together (either as friends or as lovers, doesn't matter to me), because both of them help each other realize their worth and that love is not a single monolith that has to be done one way. You can love more than one person without invalidating the love of another. The two help each other accept that the loves they had are never coming back, and that it's okay to still hold those loves close but to go out and try to find new love.
The only reason I can see Mama and Neon getting together before Yinu turns into a teen is mainly because of how adamant Neon is that he is not a replacement for Papa. Other people Mama might potentially date come with the risk of those people feeling inferior to her love for Papa, or that they think they can be better than Papa (both as a father or as a lover).
Neon on the other hand feels like he will never be good enough and is okay with that, as he doesn't think anyone could be better than Martha (which... honestly so many people can be better than her). So he wants to make it clear that he is not some replacement or trying to force away memories that Yinu and Mama might have. He is very careful around past loves and never wants to step on any toes, but still wants to make everyone as happy as he can.
So yeah. I can see Mama moving on when Yinu gets older, if Mama gets out of the environment she is in, or if she finds someone willing to let her keep her love for Papa without feeling inferior or trying to erase that past love.
Also, the fact she still wears her wedding ring was something I forget is a grieving mechanism and a reminder of her love for Papa. I just never saw it as that for some stupid reason. To me it was more of her always wearing the ring and just deciding to not take it off for comfort and familiarity, but now that I think of the REASON behind that comfort and familiarity, of course it would have to do with grieving and keeping Papa's memory alive (also I personally have it as Papa dying 5 years before the events of the game take place. So it has been quite a while since his death. I mainly think Mama not trying to find love is also her having to work a lot and raise Yinu basically alone).

I just desperately want more recognition of traumagenic experiences that lie outside of the usual "childhood abuse" assumption that everyone forces on that label. what about trauma from bullying? what about trauma from undiagnosed illnesses? what about trauma from queer experiences like transphobia? what about trauma from medical experiences like surgeries, hospitalizations, psych wards, and other areas where the medical field failed you? what about trauma from eating disorders? what about trauma from racism?
there are so many experiences that can fall under traumagenic, but are yet swept under a rug in favor of a strict, stereotypical narrative that's easier to comprehend. I think we as a community need to make an active effort to expand our understanding of traumagenic, especially where it may overlap with experiences traditionally considered endogenic, and understand that trauma can come in so many different forms. so often people are shunned for trying to create roles and labels that describe their specific traumagenic experiences, and I don't understand why. there can be no progress towards acceptance for all systems if we don't accept that traumagenic is an umbrella label too.

the ivan that regards his own feelings as shallow, the ivan that learned how emotions are expressed only from copying others… does he even know that the love he’s felt for so long is love? probably not. and part of the reason is the one he loves himself
because the easiest example he has of love is till's feelings to mizi. till outright calls it love, and ivan watches him so much he has to be aware of this and till’s love to mizi is totally unselfish, right. he doesn’t seem to actually want much from her—just that she's still there and still "mizi"
but ivan can't be satisfied with just watching he… wants. ivan wants till’s attention, till’s affection—
surely this selfish wanting can’t be love
...no wonder he was never able to express his feelings straightforwardly when he belittles them so much but he can’t stand not having anything either, so he does… whatever he does instead to get any scraps of attention he can, from someone he's convinced doesn't care about him at all only showing affection when till can't see it, right until he knows he's going to die
but ivan's feelings for till are all he still has of himself... to think of them as shallow...

y'know what. sometimes there is something wrong with you. and i don't mean in a "you are broken and that makes you unworthy" way, just in the "your brain/body does not work the way it's expected to and that's why things are so hard" way
like as someone who grew up constantly being told there was nothing wrong with me and i just had to try harder to clean/socialise/work, knowing i had ADHD earlier would've saved me a LOT of guilt. knowing i have IBS would've prevented a lot of pain/embarrassment from not being able to manage it yet. i wish someone had told me there was a reason i couldn't do things instead of just telling me i was fine. people reassuring me i didn't have any issues to spare me the shame of being "different" only made me feel worse about not being able to function like everyone else!!!
idk sometimes i just wish i knew there was something different about me sooner bc then i would've had an explanation and a way to get better instead of just a lot of self loathing

I don’t like minimizing the importance and gravity of Laios and Toshiro’s fight into just being a childish squabble, even if to a degree it is framed that way, because to both of them it has a lot of personal significance and emotional weight and runs very deep to their characters… The fight isn’t nothing it’s a LOT, they made up but it’s not something easy to express and to get over for either of them which makes it all the more meaningful! I’m on both sides but there very much are sides, there’s no "they’re both having a ball, Toshiro and Laios hand in hand yay" side to the fight, that comes after
The fight with Toshiro WAS very scary to Laios, almost existentially so, but it’s moreso the "I thought I’d made a friend!!" bit and my god. My god actually

Like it’s not "just" about oh his friend liking him less than he thought, THAT IS SO MUCH. It’s a bond he thought he had being a lie it’s all the time and moments spent together either being a lie from his perspective or marred now looking back. It’s not only being upset at Toshiro for lying but upset at himself that he’s so easy to fool, it’s being upset that there’s something so wrong with you that you can’t even tell if your "close buddy" even actually likes you or not, it’s like. Holding my head. He can’t trust his own vision of events that happened do you see. There’s always this film of distrust that it could be a lie that should be there when he interacts with people there’s always this sense of cloak and dagger to expect backstabs out of nowhere because you CAN’T see it coming you CAN’T you CAN’T there’s something about you which makes it impossible so you CAN’T-

He’s so scared of not being able to read people. He knows it’s a weak spot he has, he’s always known. All of these bits are centered around social expectations and betrayals, the assumption that he doesn’t belong either in society or with other humans.
And Laios’ level of awareness is actually sort of complex to analyze, but it’s there, there’s how out of him and Falin he was the one sensitive to the ~aura of hatred~ he felt from the townspeople, there’s of course his nightmares whispering to him about the mocking looks, and how yeah actually he realizes that his gold stripper coworker was taking advantage of him. There’s of course the Winged Lion speech about his trauma and how he fundamentally mistrusts/dislikes humans to some deep seated degree, this distrust that he still keeps under control always. There’s how pre-canon he often wanted to suggest eating monsters but never worked up the courage to bring it up with the others. There’s how he gets across as stoic when he isn’t being enthusiastic…… We don’t know how aware and wary he is exactly in the moment but we do know he has some anxiety around social stuff, and looking back he does notice and aughh augh, the sense you have to hide yourself to not get hurt and be on your guard and shit and.
When you don’t know what to look out for and when to look out for it, the general ‘common sense’ of not always trusting people or noticing when someone’s messing with you becomes hypervigilance in social settings

It’s so quick that it’s almost hard to digest how literal and blatant Laios summoning his monster to crush all the people who’ve hurt him is. His literal go-to coping mechanism for comfort in his literal monster-induced emotionally intense nightmares, saving him by taking away the upsetting element (the humans)

Monsters are his comfort safe zone "because they kill humans" yes but no it’s because he pits them as the guardians against humans who to him are in the role of the agressors. To him they represent freedom from the shackles of what it means to be part of humanity, a fundamentally social species

Thinking a lot about how in One Piece there's a continuing theme of self sacrifice that often doesn't meet its end (I won't say always because there are some characters who have eaten shit for a cause). But I just think about how easy it would be to just accept their sacrifice but the narrative won't allow that. Robin, Zoro, Sanji, Jinbe, they've all tried to give their life for the sake of others but they can't because they really don't have to. I think about Robin's "I want to live" regularly. It's so easy to die for someone but it's so much harder to live for them. And living for them gives back so much more than dying for them does. Dying is just a moment but living lets you have more moments and more time to show how much you care and lets you do so much for others. I feel like a lot of other shonen show dying as one of the bravest things you can do but One Piece is so different because it shows you that living is actually the bravest thing.
