im not gonna answer ur question bc i think it's stupid but i am gonna post a screenie of it. it's not the first ask like this i got and so i'm gonna address it now

multiple things about this:

1) idc if u liked my "content" before

2) what i'm posting about isn't war. full stop. it's genocide of the people in palestine sudan and congo

Sorry if this is an inappropriate question to ask, but why do you want to rewrite pesterquest? Was there anything wrong with its original version, or are you just doing this for fun?

brain is a Lil Loopy rn so please excuse if this answer is semi incoherent - recovering from ankle surgery rn.

im gonna try to not harp on the original pesterquest as a project/talk about my percieved issues with it. from what I understand about the work environment where it was developed, it was hell -- poor communication, tiny budgets, little overall direction. plus every artist/writer involved was likely busy with other things at the same time (for example finishing the development of Hiveswap Act 2). they had so much going against them, and... it sorts shows in the final work, which isn't their fault. the original PQ team was passionate and cared and like. the absolutely last thing i want to do is disrespect them.

(generally also stating for the record that calling the original PQ "trash" or "replaced" is like. not good vibes. please don't do this if you're trying to enjoy PQR -- the last thing the original postcanon team needs is more harassment.)

anyway.

pqr is fanfiction, fundamentally.

i started making pqr because in september i was sick with covid, i wanted to learn renpy, and i wanted to study homestuck more. i wanted to figure out what made PQ tick, literally, figuratively, all of the above.

plus i really wanted to write a different story arc for mspar.

i also really love the side characters in Homestuck, and wish they all got more time to shine. the pqr prologue including a set of Spades Slick sprites just for a brief encounter i think helps establish what i want to do with the like. raw potential of the premise of a Homestuck visual novel.

damara is the other big thing -- i've wanted to make a story with her in it work for ages. (if anyone remembers the old MEGIDO hades mod, that was my first big public attempt. she was gonna be the protagonist, breaking out of scratch's mansion. turns out coding in renpy is WAY easier LMAO)

like. the plan wasn't even initially to have the prologue be a full damara route? i just let the writing take me where it wanted to take me. it's been deeply fun and cathartic.

the prologue's "bad end" has some incredibly intimate themes of like. inevitability, and worrying you've let everyone you love down, and i showed it to a college friend who i hadn't spoken to for ages and she set a screenshot from it as her background.

like. to me. that's pqr. that's why i make it.

pqr is the laundry room ending of rose's route, a deeply personal look into my own fears and anxieties as an author reflected back through this girl's circumstances. pqr is also the retcon ending of rose's route, a wildly stupid and indulgent romp through my own past fanfiction for a silly gag that people seemed to really love.

pqr is about dave and myself looking for a place to stay simultaneously -- pqr is about jade leaving prospit, and how i was adding to that part of the game in real-time as i dropped out of college, changing both of our destinies to something unexpected but hopefully better, at the same time.

pqr is also a silly extended sleepover scene. it's just fun to see them interact.

pqr is an excuse to turn over corners of homestuck and see if we can't peek behind them. what was it like for roxy, to think she lost joey and then find rose's meteor barely a year later? of course she'd think it's impossible for her to succeed as a mother. pqr is about finding empathy for yourself for your own mistakes, reflected back at you through homestuck characters.

because really, isn't that what we're all here for?

pqr is me coming back to my last long-abandoned attempt at an act 5 rewrite. pqr is an excuse to watch my girlfriend grow in confidence and style as she makes all the endcards and incidental art (except for joey route pt 2, but THAT was an excuse to work with a NEW friend!!!!!!!)

pqr is a friendship simulator that i am winning by having an incredibly supportive and collaborative group of friends in the dev thread who are cheering me on with every segment of text i post, friends who will hop in vc to check out the newest segment. friends like @dare0451 who literally yesterday rendered out some new audio to upgrade the June route to be even more fucking amazing and terrifying than it already was, AND DARE HASN'T EVEN PLAYED IT????? IT'S LITERALLY JUST. IT'S FRIENDSHIP MAN. PQR IS FRIENDSHIP

2. yeahhhhh yk i had to do it 🤭 at first when i was writing it i was like “this is way too wordy” but then i was like “raye,,, duh words are her whole thing don’t be dumb” so i let it go on as long as it needed to haha. like i can see it SO vividly like it was probably hard to read i just KNOW she covered that whole sheet in writing without an inch to spare. i also feel like for her it wasn’t enough, but she would never complain or dare ask for another sheet.

3. title drop let’s goooooo (there will be more i think i do this a few times lol)

4. no bc that quote was so perfect i’ve been sitting on it since i started writing this series it’s been rotting in my notes waiting to be used and i just 🥹 of COURSE that’s what she would use as her real confession i’ll actually puke ab it.

as much as he thought the monologue was a confession, it really wasn’t. he heard what he wanted to hear, that she loved him and cared about him. which she does, but her intention was to beg and plead with him to be good and stay that way. she had no receipts besides his namesake and where he lived to base this theory off of, but i think after they discussed the tragedy of coriolanus at length she just wanted to hammer home that he is not what his name would suggest. this letter though was the realest confession she would give, through written word, and i think that’s very real to who she is, especially being so far from home and her family and her safe space.

5. pretending that he wanted her to help jessup was literally all he could do!! to him, what’s the alternative? give her the cold shoulder in the most vulnerable (likely final) days of her life? he couldn’t do that even if he wanted to, i think. i don’t think it successfully buys her trust, but i do think it is so motivational for her to just know that at the very least he is still there.

6. omg yeah me too i am SICK. she’s crying and apologizing knowing damn well he can’t even hear it or see what she’s doing but she feels just awful even though it means she would survive. as if that’s not the whole reason he gave it to her. he gave her the go ahead to use his mothers scarf to kill someone if she had to- and she feels that guilty about using it to save herself?? i’ll puke ab this actually she is so sweet. she cares about him so so deeply and i think a massive part of her fear, that kept her up all night, was that that fact that she loves him cares did not change.

7. yeah they did NOT think that one through and ik it’s just eating dr. gaul ALIVE bro. this could also be the beginning (assuming the games do continue- who knows) of the trackers that monitor heart rates and vitals of tributes.

8. OKAY YES so i’m gonna tie this into point 6 too bc i feel like that’s the manifestation of this internal battle she’s having. if she had originally planned to give up her life at the very beginning, i can so easily see the guilt that she’s feeling over every little thing she’s doing to preserve her own life beyond that point. so not only is she ruining his late mothers beautiful scarf, she’s also betraying herself. the “old her”, if you will. she shouldn’t be alive anyways, she will die soon anyways, so it feels like a waste to ruin this scarf in the process when she likely believes it will be peeled off her dead body regardless. but she still does it.

she told herself that coryo was what changed that plan- that she wanted to win for him, but i don’t even know that that’s fully true. maybe it was about saving herself all along, but she felt too horribly guilty about the circumstances to even admit that to herself. especially now that she’s starting to devolve mentally, she opens the compact knowing that its contents will kill the boys that are after her, but immediately she’s going “oh, it looks like salt” and committing to that narrative so desperately so she can hide from herself that now not only is she ruining the scarf to save herself, that she’s also directly causing fatal harm to others which she has always sworn she would never do.

Guy puts a hand over his heart and let's out a breath, "holy shit, Honey, I thought you were being murdered or something." Then he laughs that adorable laugh of his because he's so precious.

Honey can't suppress the chuckle that bubbles up in their throat, "no, I'm fine. Chat just wanted me to ask you something."

Honey spared a quick glance at their monitor, biting their lip to try and hide the devilish smirk that was forming across their features.

Honey stands from their chair again, and leans against the open door. The way it opens inward perfectly covers Guy from view of the camera.

They lean in, a loving smile splaying their lips and lighting up their eyes as they grasp the collar of his shirt to pull him in.

Chat can't see how their faces are only inches apart, they can only hear how Guy let's out a sound of surprise.

Honey plants a chaste kiss on the corner of Guy's mouth and then loosens their grip on his collar in exchange for placing their hand flat on his chest.

Chat can only hear Honey repeat, "get out," when they gently shove Guy backwards so they can close the door again. Their face displays a cheeky grin as they stifle a soft laugh at the sound of a very flustered, and probably offended, Guy.

Then they sit back in their chair and turn their attention back to their stream.

It's a win win for the both of them, because when Guy gets home after a day at work, all he wants is love and affection which he cannot get if his honey is streaming.

But there are times when the stream goes on longer than expected, or Guy gets off early.

Honey was playing Life is Strange when they heard the front door open. They paused for a moment, expecting to hear Guy's usual "Honey, I'm home" call to announce his presence.

But it didn't come.

They paused the game and lowered their headphones, confusion evident on their face as they turned in their chair slightly, listening to the sounds of Guy putting down his work bag and taking off his shoes.

When the noises stopped, Honey assumed Guy must've just had a long day. They decided they'd check on him after they wrapped up this stream.

A few minutes went by; Honey had nearly forgotten Guy was home, it was so quiet.

Honey left the room without a second thought, their feet leading them straight to where Guy had bundled himself up on the couch. The TV was on, playing the cartoon network channel for some reason, and the lights were off save for a table lamp.

Holding his phone in front of his face while he lay on his side, he turned to look at Honey when he heard their footsteps.

His hair was a mess, he had bags under his eyes, and his cheeks were flushed.

"Honeeyyy," he pouted, his voice coming out strained and scratchy.

Guy had come home sick.

They checked his temperature, got him a cold cloth, brought him medicine, and basically played nurse before finally returning to their stream.

They'd only been gone for 15 minutes.

Adulthood is knowing how to manage your emotions even when things get stressful so that the urge to throw yourself into the ocean doesn’t start sounding *too* appealing

And god almighty am I *managing* them rn

(Venting post below under the readmore but I promise I’m okay, just a lot happening at once)

1. My period is currently Happening which normally isn’t…. Too bad because I take testosterone, however I’ve been having a hard time taking it regularly and it’s the only thing keeping me from having Debilitating Cramps and Nausea(tm). So I’m having said Debilitating Cramps and Nausea(tm) and asked my manager if I could leave early today

2. I was told that I COULDNT leave early today because we have a new hire starting today that I am pseudo in-charge of helping so that’s… great. The new person is our new manager. The position I stepped down from (voluntarily), I am a personal teller in charge of training a new manager.

3. The second banker who is SUPPOSED to be working with me is just. Not here. No call, no text, just not here and I have a sneaking suspicion she just straight up quit, leaving me alone with the new employee (whom is very nice don’t get me wrong) and I am in So Much Pain and trying So Hard not to cry in front of people.

4. I get someone sent over from another branch who is able to help answer questions and I used to work with her and she’s awesome! But she can’t do transactions. I am the ONLY ONE able to do transactions.

5. I am only able to take pieces of my lunch bc anytime someone walks up needing to do a transaction I have to clock back in and help them.

6. There is a possibility that my other teller outright quit and I will be mechanically on my own for almost two weeks until the new hire is even able to touch transactions.

7. The only ray of light is that I might have a job offer tomorrow but I can’t be certain, got my fingers crossed. I’m debating how much notice I even want to give at this rate.

I am so tired. I feel like Satan himself is yanking out my uterus, my knees ache and my back feels like it’s gonna snap and it’s so disheartening to see that the other teller (the no-call one) was able to LEAVE EARLY last week for THE SAME EXACT ISSUE and I am not despite being called such a ‘good worker’— and I was told that BEFORE even realizing there wasn’t going to be another teller with me.

I have genuine health issues that keep being ignored and I’m so tired of it and really just want to be told I got the other job so I can stop feeling so overwhelmed every time something happens here.

(Again, I am in no danger of self-harm or similar, I’m just. It’s a lot rn. I wanna curl up in a corner and take my pain killers but the ones I normally take make me unable to operate normally and would NOT be an option in a bank)

Y/n bounced her leg nervously as her and Billy waited for Max to come out of the school. "Dude where is she?" she mumbled. Billy shrugged, dragging his cigarette. Y/n sighed and stared at the hill Max skated down the day before. Just as she was about to go up there and get her herself, Max came gliding their way. She smiled nervously at Y/n and kicked up her board.

Billy sighed, tossing his cigarette. "You're late again," he said.

"I had to get catch up homework," Max replied, tossing her board in the backseat. "Jesus. I don't care! You're late again and you're skating home," Billy replied. Y/n narrowed her eyes at him as Max crawled into the backseat. "Don't go after my sister like that, man," Y/n sighed. "Or what?" Billy sneered.

"I'll tell."

Billy's face dropped and Y/n got in the car. Billy got in right after and turned the car on. In his little temper tantrum, he swerved out of the parking lot a little too fast, almost hitting a group of middle schoolers on the way out. Y/n stole Billy's lighter and opened the glove box. She grabbed one of her rolled joints and lit up, cracking the window.

"This place is such a shithole," Billy complained as they sped through the neighborhoods. Max and Y/n shrugged. "I like it," Y/n replied. "Yeah, it isn't so bad," Max added.

Billy dramatically rolled his eyes. The sisters constantly got on his nerves. They would disagree with him and agree with each other just to push his buttons, and they wouldn't hesitate to toss him under a semi-truck if they needed to.

He rolled Y/n's window down all the way and plugged his nose. "Smell that? That's actually shit! Cow shit!" Billy exclaimed. Y/n stuck her face out the window and inhaled deeply. It didn't actually smell like cow shit, she just wanted to gross Billy out.

"I don't see cows, man," Y/n replied, rolling up her window. Billy scoffed, "Clearly you haven't seen the high school girls," he mumbled, earning a snort from Y/n.

Billy rolled his eyes, "So, what? You like it here now?" Max shook her head and said no. Y/n smiled, "Yeah."

"Gross! You're not serious right?" Billy asked. Y/n shrugged, inhaling more smoke. "I figure it like this," she blew it out, "we got moved here and we're kinda stuck here. Might as well try and enjoy myself."

Billy glared at Max through his rearview mirror. He blamed her. He didn't like Max at all. He could tolerate Y/n in small doses, but he didn't like her either. He found them both insufferable. "Yeah, we are stuck here. You're right. And whose fault is that?" Billy growled. "Yours..." Max whispered. Billy picked up on her attitude quickly. He knew he should've just left her to skate home. "What'd you say? You say it's my fault?" Billy snapped. "Dude, she didn't say anything," Y/n said. Billy hushed her and kept looking at Max. "You know whose fault it is..." he trailed off.

His eyes were set on the redhead in the backseat. Max shrunk into herself trying to make herself as small as possible.

"Say whose fault it is," no answer, "Max... say it." Y/n shook her head and Max kept her mouth shut.

Billy finally snapped, leaning into the backseat and screaming in Max's face. Y/n yelled, but Billy swiftly changed gears and sped up the car. "Billy, I swear to fuck! If you kill me in this car I will fucking castrate you!" Y/n yelled. Billy flipped her off and slammed on the gas. "Billy slow down!" Max called. She could see the three boys biking ahead of them. They weren't friends but she didn't want to see them get hurt. "Why? These your new hick friends?" Billy yelled. Y/n leaned forward and squinted. "I don't know them! Just slow down!" Max replied frantically. She shook Y/n's shoulder with a pleading look on her face.

Y/n looked between her and the kids they were rapidly approaching. "Billy, they're just a couple kids. Let it go!" Y/n said, shoving his shoulder. Billy ignored them completely. He was having fun and didn't care about the consequences. Max yelled at him to stop, begging the older boy to stop the car or slow down. Y/n braced herself for impact but when none came, she opened her eyes and looked behind her.

"Dude, that was fucked up, man! I'm serious, don't do that!" Y/n exclaimed. She was nervous the rest of the ride home, but luckily Billy was done with his bullshit.

Y/n and Max practically ran into the house to start changing into their costumes. Y/n was going as Wendy from The Shining because she couldn’t find any funny costumes on short notice. Max came in in her costume with a huge smile. “Can I use your pillowcase? It’s bigger than mine,” she asked. Y/n laughed and said okay. Max ran to grab Y/n’s body pillow and stripped it of the case.

When they were both ready to go, Max and Y/n walked around their neighborhood for a bit getting some early candy so Max could eat while she walked later. Y/n also just wanted candy. They looped back around when the sun set, and Y/n met Steve Harrington in her front yard.

“Steve!” he turned around and smiled at her. “Hey! I was gonna go up there and everything and you weren’t even home,” he spoke. Y/n held up her bag full of candy.

“All for some 3 Musketeers. How dare you?” Steve laughed.

Y/n grinned, “So sorry good sir. But I would make you explain to Billy why you’re at my house a million times if it brought me closer to nougat.” She kissed her Ziploc and smiled happily at him.

Steve nearly made a face at the feeling her looking at him like that gave him. it wasn’t a bad feeling. He felt like he was a middle schooler. Crushing on a girl who wouldn’t even look twice at him.

“Who are you supposed to be?” Y/n asked, circling him. “Oh, Risky Business,” Steve gave her the finger guns.

Y/n nodded slowly, “I’ve never seen that.”

Steve stopped and gaped at her. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “You’ve never seen Risky Business?!” he exclaimed. Y/n shook her head, and he ran a hand through his hair.

Steve shook his head, “No. We’re fixing that. Tonight, you’re coming back to mine and we’re watching Risky Business.” Y/n shrugged and agreed. It was just Steve so who cares? “Well, who are you?” he fired back. “I’m the dumb bitch wife from The Shining!” Y/n exclaimed before faking a scared expression and flopping her hands in her face. Steve laughed and decided to take her to the car so they could get Nancy and leave before the party was too crowded. Y/n put her candy in the glove box, and they were off.

“Where’s Nancy?” she asked.

“Your house is closer to mine than hers is. Plus, I don’t think she would’ve been ready to go if I went there first,” Steve said.

Y/n chuckled and turned on the radio. Psycho Killer by Talking Heads started playing and Y/n laughed. “W-what?” Steve stuttered. Y/n shook her head, hiding a smile. Steve poked her shoulder over and over to pester her into spilling. “Okay! Okay! It’s just a very Steve song to play,” she said. Steve laughed, “What does that mean?” Y/n turned in her seat to face him.

“Like, if I thought of you. If I were thinking ‘Steve Harrington’ I would think of that song. Or Girls on Film. That would work too,” Y/n explained.

Steve hummed, nodding slowly. His expression slowly turned into a teasing smile. “Aww Y/n… You think about me!” he teased. “No sir! Nope!” Y/n laughed. “You totally do! You’re so into me, it hurts,” Steve continued. Y/n punched his arm with a fake angry face. “I’m gonna beat you up, I swear,” she said.

Now, she would be lying if she said she didn’t find Steve a little attractive, but not like a boyfriend attractive. More like a “I would hit it for the one time and move on” kind of attractive.

Y/n looked out her window when Steve parked outside a nice two-story house with Nancy standing outside. “What’s up, baby?” Y/n yelled, sticking her whole upper body out of the window. Nancy covered her mouth and laughed, forcing Y/n back into her seat before hopping in the backseat. The trio listened to music and talked the rest of the way to the party and Y/n wondered if she would see Eddie there. “He-hey. What do you guys know about Eddie Munson?” Y/n asked. Steve made a face and Nancy looked confused again. “Isn’t he that weird kid?” Steve asked. Nancy nodded and looked at Y/n. “I have third period with him. I was just wondering,” she said.

Steve shrugged and parked the car in the street in front of the house that was already packed with drunk, high, and sweaty teenagers.

Y/n took out her bag of “special stuff” and checked to make sure it was all there. “Shit, Y/n!” Steve breathed in surprise. She looked at him with a “what?” expression on her face. “I didn’t know you did that stuff,” Steve said. “Yeah. It keeps me calm and helps my pains,” Y/n said, stuffing it back in her jacket pocket before jumping out of the car and following the couple inside.

“Don’t act all innocent, Steve. You and Tommy used to smoke together all the time,” Nancy laughed. Steve put a finger to his lips and shushed her. Y/n snorted and followed the couple inside. She sidestepped a girl throwing up and took Nancy’s hand. “No ma’am,” Y/n whispered. Nancy snickered and pulled her further into the house. Y/n’s eyes widened. Toilet paper, food, cups, anything you could think of was thrown all over the house either in decoration or just to be thrown. She recognized the counting outside for the keg they obviously bought for this party. It smelled like ass in the house, but Y/n felt like she didn’t want to leave.

yeah! I try to at least, I have a huge backlog to get through whoops. I started writing in the era of ffn where like half the experience was talking back and forth in the reviews and then pm-ing and that's how I made a lot of friends that I still have today. and without that kind of comment culture and the author replying to messages, I might not have ever started writing.

......I will finish every wip leave me alone (I WILL FINISH YMMF I PROMISE) work in PROGRESS and the progress may be slow but it's PROGRESS

dialogue I am so fucking good at dialogue, and character interaction. definitely my strengths

descriptions. I am too lazy to do them all out the way I want to and so I just kinda. skate by

mmm unless I know someone I can talk to and get accurate translations, I don't really do this bc I am so afraid of conjugating wrong and google translate is SHIT. but when I do I try my best
