1. if you care about what other ppl think of you, ur wasting ur life

spending time worrying about what other ppl think when they look at you is sooo useless. you are creating imaginary and false ideas of urself thro others. you walk past a group of ppl and you immediately become voice insecurities to yourself. who even are those ppl? they are nothing compared to you. thinking that their “prettier” or “richer” or “smarter” is stupid asf bc all those are just society aspects that are false. there is no such thing as being prettier than blah blah blah. you are you just like she is she and he is he and they are they. we are all our own ppl so why waste time thinking ur less than in other ppl’s eyes? spend that time telling urself how valuable you are. realize that insecurities arent real. theres literally nothing wrong with you. you are perfect period. society may tell you that you arent but who tf are they? you wanna stick to a victim mindset or you wanna be accurate in knowing you are already perfect?

you cant spend all your life worrying about what others think of you. stop being goofy and know that the only opinion that matters is you. focus on the thing that rly matters: you. love urself bc ur the one that will never leave ur side.

as a female in this society, we are expected to look up to men and please them…first of all.. look at what a beauty you are. you rly think a beautiful being like you would have to worry about pleasing others, especially men?? nahhh. never. remember that that little part of you that feels the need to impress men is just a result of this society. forget about it. the only one you need to impress is you.

when i was little, i didnt know how to take care of my pretty type 4 hair bc my mom didnt have the same hair type as me. i would always look at the girls with straight hair or loose curls and wonder why i dont have that hair type. now im in love with my hair bc i learned to take care of it. the tight curls, the way i can put it in twists or cornrows or leave it in an afro. my hair is so versatile! theres no way i cant love it. idc if ppl call ur hair “difficult” or “too hard” or “ugly”… thats bc they will never know what its like having perfect hair like this. they could neva compare and thats a fact. it took me years to love my hair and i wish all little black babies grow up to know how perfect they hair is.

get a moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioner. i recommend companies like shea moisture, mielle organics, camille rose naturals, kinky-curly, and there are more just research and try which ever works for your hair

soak your hair in warm water and massage your scalp. use your shampoo and scrub with your finger tips not your finger nails (or else you can get cuts). shampoo 2-3 times.

put ur deep conditioner and when you detangle ur hair, use your fingers and detangle in small sections. do not use a small comb. use a wide tooth comb if you want. then, you can put ur hair in twists and put a cap on or steam it in the shower so that the deep conditioner moisturizes your hair.

rinse and use a moisturizing cream / leave in conditioner and put it on ur hair in sections and comb thro. do big or mini twists to lock in product.

when you have on an afro, do not pick your curls and pull it. this can cause breakage and split ends. when you have twists on, water your beautiful hair with water and some product in a spray bottle everyday / few times a week. think of your hair like a plant, you have to water and care for it.

when you take out your twist of any other protective styles, take your time to reduce breakage. and its better to detangle hair when it has conditioner in it. try using pre-shampoo when detangling dry hair.

spend time understanding your hair. thats how special it is. love it bc its raw black beauty.

everyones hair is different so what i do for my hair and the products i use will not always work you. research your hair porosity and hair types. a hair care journey starts off messy at times but the more it lasts, the easier it gets. you can start off hating your hair but you will soon realize how much of a perfect prize it is 💋

I just got through urban plague (library of ruina) yesterday and I'm thinking so hard I am rotating it in my brain like a microwave you do not understand

I love dystopia!! I love commentary on humanity by highlighting negative aspects of society!! And I ESPECIALLY love when there is a moral implication to it!! Spoilers for wedge reception cutscene but

The conversation between Philip and Oscar hits so hard when you view it with all the perspectives and parallels goin on like,, Philip WANTS to go back and retrieve the books of his dead coworkers, he wants to be able to avenge them for their death, and though Oscar agrees to go with him, he brings up the point that inherently, that thought is selfish, and that trying to do something under the guise of it being for someone else is a dangerous mindset

And like..... looking at the City? It's not an entirely wrong stance to have! It can be argued that people arent inherently selfish, or it could even be argued that even with people's inherent selfishness that doesn't diminish the acts of good deeds/doing things for the sake of other people. But in the City, it's a dog-eat-dog world where people kill to survive, to make a living for themselves. The only way to move forward is to force someone else behind. You're trapped in oractically an endless loop of trying and failing to increase status in the city. In that sense, if you ARENT selfish, you're as good as dead. So in Oscars eyes, trying to justify actions under the guise of emotion or for the sake of someone else forgoes safety, it puts oneself at risk, it can lead people blindly into situations they can't handle anf get themselves killed over something they shouldn't have placed upon themselves.

And especially seeing Roland and Angela's commentary on it as well!!! Angela is against it obviously because she was hurt by this mentality!!! Ayin had her trapped in a basement, repeating the same day over and over and over for YEARS. She wasn't even given a happy end for all of her hard work since she wasn't deemed significant enough for one- she was forgotten in favor of all the other sephirot getting their character growth and happily ever after. It doesn't matter to her that Ayin was following Carmen's dream in hoping to cure humanity and fix depression or whatever- Angela and the sephirot and all the employees of lob corp had to suffer for it. Enjecting them with drugs to create horrid creatures, living in the same timeloop until the day turns out Just Right, is it worth it? At what point does the suffering of the few justify betterment for the many?

But even so this is not at all like the situation that Philip is going through! Angela had experienced a very severe case of this- Philip only wants to go back to the library in hopes of getting his friends books back. Yeah, there's the likelihood that he and the wedge order all die in the process, but he dies for his friends. That's honorable, right? After all, it was his fault in the first place so it's only fair that he does something to make up for that, right? Clearly Oscar disagrees- he's the head of an Extremely influential order, and if he went around helping anyone with what he sees to be a hero complex then he would quickly lose reputation, he would be overrun by lower class fixers with meaningless revenge requests.

I do have an opinion and many other thoughts on this argument- but that's not my point here! My point is that morality is extremely complex, and I love esp in dystopias when morality is discussed and characters clearly have a different view of it based on who they are or the experienced they've went through! The game has a clear stance on the topic and it's because of the setting that all of these characters are living in- and I think that's beautiful

Habit never gave much thought to human lives, they were minuscule and insignificant compared to the life of an ageless entity born of hate. The mortal body he inhabited now was nothing more than for appearances, a novelty he found some sick pleasure in.

Until you showed up.

You and Evan had…history so to say. You’d fuck when he was in between relationships and needed an out for his frustrations. You were available, bored and only a short drive east of his house. Habit knew of the tension between you two, neither you nor Evan believed your relationship would amount to anything other than what you had; not that either parties had the time. But Habit liked something about you, liked you enough to take things further so slowly you barely noticed his presence while you slept, or how often you two ran into each other in the city while you were on coffee runs for your ever obnoxious superiors. It was almost too easy in his opinion. After about a year and half of the blossoming relationship that many found..questionable, you finally finished your lease, packed what little belongings you had, and moved into Evan’s home.; something that appeased both Evan and Habit. You were meant to be with them, only them. You were meant to be taken care of, treasured and have every whim answered; no matter how questionable the means of achieving them were.

Habit is territorial as all hell, whats his is his and thats how it should be. You’re his. Simple as that. He’s generous in his eyes, he permits you to leave the house on your own and doesn’t bat an eye. You’re grown, have a job, and pay half the bills, he doesn’t care; just keep him updated. Habit knows you’ll return to his arms in the evening, wanting nothing more than to be babied. That’s how both he and Evan like you; obedient and gentle. The contrast between you two (or three, rather) is so obvious. His calloused hands roaming over your plush body gives them a power trip. They’ve earned this right, and Habit and Evan intend to keep it. The tears that well in your pretty eyes are for them and them only, so why worry that pretty little head over some sleazy victim?

Crying is something Habit is use to, hell he’ll gladly drink the tears of his victims when he can, but your tears, your tears? They’re like ambrosia to him, something so sweet and addictive that only he gets makes his head spin. You cry over something small, and Habit’s always there to kiss and lick your tears away, cooing that you should just ‘Let it out, angel’ like the sick bastard he is. You know he’s bad, but he takes care of you, gives himself up to you in way no one, man or woman, has. It’s addictive. You don’t have to beg for attention with him, just shed a tear or whimper his name in just the right way and he’s on you. It’s a cycle, an unhealthy but loving cycle that neither of you can seem to give up.

Habit, in all his centuries on this realm and the many others, has never felt this kind of infatuation with anyone; he can’t live without you and he doesn’t plan on it. Somehow, it doesn’t matter what he has to give or take, you will be with him until sin itself is purged from the world.

I dont know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of all the toxicity all of us are spreading. Actually, not all of us. There are people in each of these groups (except those of you who attack grace online, I have a message for you later) who are amazing and kind and genuine pleasures to talk to and be around. I'd like to think that I'm one of them, but I'm not going to make that decision. But back to the earlier topic: there are good people in these fandoms/groups. Which brings us to my first point. We need to stop assuming the worst of each other. There are so many stereotypes of each of us, and usually they are just based off of the actions of a few people in the fandom. Example: one person who ships blahblahblah is racist/homophobic/etc, and now the people who ship lalala think all people who ship blahblahblah are racist/homophobic/etc. Now I'm not saying there arent bad people who just say genuinely terrible things in all of these fandoms. Fellow hellcheers directly, specifically the ones doing these things (you probably know who you are), you make me embarrassed to be in the fandom. Honestly. It doesnt matter who said what first or what someone's opinion is, dont be like that, period. This applies to everyone, I just wanted my fellow hellcheers to know that they arent entirely innocent either. No one is. Unless you are one of those genuinely nice people. If you are, I love you guys, no matter which ship you like. But seriously, we can all be better. We are all probably about 14 and older. We're practically adults, almost. We should act like ones. The way you SHOULD talk about an opinion in ships is with respect for the other person's opinion. It's supposed to be sharing points of view, not telling people they are crazy or weird or homophobic or racist or anything else like that if they like something you dont. If we cant act like adults, I think our best option is to simply ignore each other. Get out of each others tags for good. Stop looking for fights. It's ridiculous. Grace played a character for 14 minutes on a show where all she did in the end was die. Why do you care so much about ruining her career and hurting her? And anyways Im not linking the tumblr because I dont want to give them any kind of attention, but I wanted to talk about the posts themselves. Here’s your warning for some talk about terfs, alt-right, etc.

First I’ll address this person’s second point. And I’ll say yes. People who are on the far right, terfs, you name it, are still pagans, or Christians, or whatever spiritual path they choose to follow. Religion and spirituality, (and witchcraft to add that in for the sake of this argument), are inherently neutral things. They can be used to further good or to harm depending on the intent of the individual (or group).

And frankly it does no good to say “so-and-so isnt a real pagan/etc because xyz” because its almost a guarantee that they will turn and point at you with their own reasons why you arent the real one. (no true scotsman…).

What matters here is acknowledging that bad people and people with agendas will be in every group, even if by partaking they are being highly hypocritical. These things dont stop them from worshipping the gods, these things dont stop them from experiencing the gods or their own UPG.

What matters is that despite them being pagans it does NOT mean that they are free from the social consequences if they spout harmful beliefs or engage in harmful actions.

If a community deems your actions/beliefs as harmful, its within their right to exclude you to protect themselves. (And an aside, this is the internet. No one truly speaks for the whole, and with the amount of communities within communities within communities, you’ll find like-minded individuals eventually). But if youre so pressed to be a part of the “broader community,” perhaps its time to do some introspection and consider what it is about what youre doing that makes people unwilling to have you around.

If Jill starts talking shit every time she goes to the Sunday Night Sewing Group because she doesn’t like that Becca and Amy decided to go off-pattern, she shouldn’t be surprised if the group kicks her out because they didn’t want to deal with her toxic behavior.

All we know with even semi-certainty is the gods are often depicted as fickle, and that their stories were written down by humans and which change frequently over the ages. For all we know, the gods want the exact opposite of what we think. Its even bold to assume they would even care about anything humans do.

it's right in line with i, robot as my favorite type of science fiction: thought experiments that rely on how we label things.

my opinion on the labels of things is, when i peel back all the stuff that gives me comfort, that there's just one thing: everything. some people call it god, i just think it's. like. The Everything. if you take our personal cognition outta the equation, there's nothing to distinguish between the parts of The Everything! some parts of The Everything (us) work in a very particular way where we come up with ways to distinguish between sections of The Everything. give things arbitrary designations based on arbitrary patterns that allow us to arbitrarily determine what's what. that includes the idea of the self!

all of this is a very fancy way to say that like. i don't think there's some inherent, universe-supported version of The Self that isn't tied to how we, as parts of The Everything, choose to label what we perceive. there's no objective answer to the question of who's dennett and who isn't. just like there's no objective answer about what exactly counts as a human, or what exactly counts as a robot! there's the answers that a bunch of scientists came up with that we use for all the science because it's what a lot of us agree on, but that doesn't mean that those designations are Absolute. Oops, It's All Social Constructs, Babey!

and this rocks, actually, and i love thinking about the world this way. because it means it's a given that. first of all. like. gender can be whatever we want. it's just how we choose to interpret our understanding of everything (including our feelings and other people and ourselves and our thoughts and stuff). i can be a robotgirl. yeah, i'm not. like. dictionarily a robot in the same way the boston dynamics robot is, but it's a label i choose to assign to my thoughts and feelings that i like! it's good i think and i like doing it and it helps me conceptualize the world. it's also why the question of "what's the cutoff between fictional robots and current ones?" is just as flawed as the question of "is a hot dog a sandwich?" the answer, objectively, is. like. that depends on how you see it. we're not going to get an answer that is completely 100% rooted in total fact with no wiggle room, because everyone has a different labeling system.

but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try! cause like. labels arent bad. when i get hungry i could zoom all the way out and think it doesnt matter because im one tiny shard of the everything and theres not even a me. or i could get up and exit what i think of as my bedroom and do what i think of as walking to get through what i think of as my hallway and arrive in what i think of as my kitchen and open what i think of as my fridge and eat what i think of as a sandwich, which happens to also be what i think of as a hot dog.

this is awesome because hot dogs rock and are delicious. but we can also discuss labels because... like. in the same way that the scientists can make a consensus about a label that isnt 100% objective but a lot of people agree with it, if a label's useful to us, we can make a consensus about it so we can discuss it and how to respond to it. and those labels can be slippery! when i say "i love robots so much. i want to kiss or be kissed by one i think." i am absolutely talking about the fictional robots i love dearly. we're probably thinking of some of the same ones. i also may be talking about some real robots! and maybe we both thought of those nasa robot probes i reblogged a bunch of times earlier that are so cute. i would kiss them. but you can guess i DONT want to kiss the boston dynamics police dog, because right now, my idea of robots that i love does not include that thing. that doesn't mean it's objectively Not a Robot. it's just not in the current definition of "robot" i'm going by when i say that i love robots.

when dennett's thinking about where he is, and whether he's in the jar or not, there's no objective answer because, as he shows very very well, there's no one objective dennett. the scientists think of dennett as yorick, probably, or interchangeably yorick or hubert depending on how they, personally, feel about the aliveness of hubert. anyone dennett's interacted with recently who doesn't know about the whole brain situation thinks of hamlet or fortinbras as dennett depending on who theyre used to. if theyve met both bodies, id guess they probably think fortinbras is dennett and dennett just moved from body to body. the story's such a great demonstration of the lack of the objective self.

ok one thing that really grinds my gears is the hate towards "modern art" cuz most of the people who hate on it arent artists themselves (which is fine you can have opinions on art without doing art yourself.... same goes with music or cooking or whatever) but its their like... misguided definition on what art is. cuz art is not like . something done to be worth something. art is done for whatever fucking reason you wanna do art for. for fun? for self expression? for like learning and observing? its all art babey! and these people think art is only art if like 30000000 bajillion hours are in it and it looks like some renisaunce (i cant spell it/too lazy to look it up) painting. like. noooo. you can put 1 minute into an art piece or you can put 1 year. at the end of the day its art regardless. however of course if you like. *sell* your art maybne dont take one minute on it...... but like. if youre just doing art for you. do whatever the hell you want. brush some shit on the canvas. draw some boys kissing. sculpt a little kitty cat. make a weird shape in some way. who cares!!!!! at the end of the day art can be anything, whether its representational or non-representational, whether it took you a while or not, etc. the only thing matters is if you partook in the joy of creation ..... its human nature to make art and you are allowed to get freaky with it. art cannot be "soulless" no matter how weird it looks or how much you hate it. its art. and fuck you for real if you complain about "modern art" like you are ALLOWED to DISLIKE IT but you ARENT allowed to say it isnt art or that its "lazy" or something like that. like. SHUT UP! or if you say something like "a 3 year old could make that" like ok. anyone can make art and how much skill it looks like it took doesnt only define it as an art piece . hope this helps. you can be at any skill level and make art and its still art. ALSO there is no such thing as bad art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe your skill level isnt at where you want it to be and THATS OK! practice more if you desire to get more skilled! and no one has any right to tell you your art is bad. whether they have been drawing for 1 day or 20 years they do NOT have the right to tell you you are bad at doing what humans do best which is to create. if you apply yourself even a little and have fun then you are making art correclty. point blank, we do not hate endos. we arent exactly neutral, but we arent anti or pro either

what we really Really dislike is endo culture. snatching did/osdd related terms, trying to get into did/osdd spaces, saying that did/osdd are miserable in their "disordered plurality" etc etc etc. thats fucking garbage, cut it out. get your own stuff! come up with your own terms! create your own spaces! and also maybe dont shit on traumatised people for being. yk. traumatised

but at the same time, we are nowhere near trying to tell people what's going on in their brain. it's just stupid. it's none of our business, just like its none of anybody else's. just like we personally arent obligated to share our trauma, all our alters, and anything of the sort (we still do, willingly, cus we like to talk about us, but its not the matter rn). besides, considering how little we know about how human brain works, its dumb to throw out a whole possible category of people just because research right now says its impossible to be a system without trauma

we are of a strong opinion that 1) the only one who knows for sure whats happening in your head is yourself, you just need proper resources to verbalise it and 2) for singlets who are opposed to the idea of plurality we are all the same freaks. it doesnt matter to them how we look, speak, present ourselves as systems, headcount, amount of introjects and all the other stuff. they will fakeclaim any of us anyway. and we need to bunch together in front of them

and no, its not contradictory to endos getting their own spaces and terminology. because the important part of bunching together is supporting each other, not just falling in one pile no matter what. because we are different. its not a bad thing, we just are, at the core. because yes, did/osdd is linked to trauma. but yes, there are also tulpas, spirutual experiences, other disorders and neurodivergencies that people might perceive as being a system. its not bad, and it doesnt call for one group to stigmatise and bastardise another. because to singlets we are the same, no matter what we say. we need system unity before we need to go at each others' throats for being the way we are

with that said, while we dont mind endos, we would highly prefer for you not to interact with us closely. we are a traumagenic system, and we frankly do not see a reason for you to want to talk to us, unless you are questioning your existence as an endo and/or trying to come to terms with your own trauma. however, if you are any of the above, we dont mind talking to you and helping you through it. we know it can be tough and if you are dealing with it you are welcome in our dms any time, we will try to help if we have the energy to do so

something that happens when you say a character, especially a character who’s made to be in a totally fantastical world, is fascist is that you’re gonna get the crowd who’s like 1. you cant say that because this is fantasy and that is Serious and the author imagined the value system and ethical+moral beliefs of the character out of thin air/a bubble/whatever 2. you are dehumanizing and villifying the character for the sake of simplicity. i made why I look down on 1 clear enough but with 2 every time I’m like well can a cow be fascist. you problem if you see “fascist” as inhuman/monstrous in a totally literal, totally simple definition and as something that cant only be examined from the assumed humanity of the fascist. some people automatically read “fascist” as a buzzword that demands immediate mindless moral accordance from them when it’s just a human belief system people have always written about, something that has inspired leagues and leagues of modern fiction, sympathetic or not. it’s a problem for sure that people always fling around nazi analogies without real thought or care but it’s also not a magical coincidence. the world wars, and the nature of modern war and imperialism changed how people write about and percieve human politics, sociology, morality and belief, and this extends to even the imagined worlds we write. i dont think I’m saying anything unobvious here you learn this in like the 4th grade in the us (🤨 right) but we don’t fully realize this because most of us have only lived in the world after. no, fascist ideas are not “up for debate” but that doesn’t mean you automatically have to be like well fascists arent human so there’s no reason why they’re like that and if you ever look at some fantasy story through its lens then you are doing nothing but morally and emotionally simplifying it to virtue signal or feel good about yourself whatever. this is how you get people saying shit like DE is cop or fascist apologia for granting its explicitly stated cop or fascist characters human emotions and motivations and thought processes and contradictions, like rené’s hidden and long-suffocated love for gaston. i dont get where the neurotic fear that you are going to be ostracized for liking a fascist character comes from other than frankly people paying too much attention to opinions that don’t matter. and yes people will hate them for their fascist elements. but that doesnt make you in the opposition until you try to make them more “acceptable” by conjuring up reasons why they’re not-fascist or why they’re actually Right or MAKE their fascist ideas actually up for debate under a different name or that fascist elements of the character are totally irrelevant as if political and moral and emotional analysis cannot ever intersect or whatever the fuck

ok im going try to write my initial thoughts on mutant mayhem, MASSIVE TMNTMM SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT obviously!! another note is that a lot of these arent final ofc, just my first reaction! i will def be on the lookout for a closer investigation of these points by people smarter than me, i just need to write these down. ok lets go

ill start with the exceptional positives :-) the animation was STUNNING and the fight scenes and chase sequences??????/ fuckin breathtaking!!! i think the dynamic btwn the turtles was rly fun too :-) and an interesting take on leo's whole leader situation! like that scene where the guys were surprised that hes on board with the hero plan,,, i also rly liked the little nods to other iterations, like when in the end raph said hes glad his brothers are the last thing hes gonna see before dying felt so similar to what 2014 raph said in a very similar situation and it was fun to notice hehe. also i know donnie having a purple hoodie is pretty generic but i like to think it was a callback to rise donnie :-) AND I CRIEDDDD WHEN THE HUMANS STARTED HELPING THEM OUT IN ANY WAY THEY COULD,,, THAT WAS SO SWEET AND I LOVE THIS SORT OF THING IN SUPERHERO MOVIES,,

now as for negatives. not a fan of the milking gag 😬 it just made me kinda uncomfortable tbh. so upset abt baxter dying right off the bat :-( idk if it wouldve been bad for the narrative or whatever but i just wish he survived. and its kinda. weird that the ONLY character to die in this movie was him idk. also not feelin great about all the mutants introduced in the movie being siblings/cousins???? especially since splinter ended up dating the cockroach lady?...... like. superfly's group all consider each other siblings and they consider the turtles their cousins and splinter is the turtles' dad so. like i know its a cartoon and its not that deep but i Do Not Like That. really fucking wish they used literally anything other than ao/t for donnie's anime of interest. come on man. also really wish the puking wasnt. like that. or wasnt there at all. man. maybe its just me idk. and finally! got some mixed feelings on the conclusion with superfly. LIKE. yes obviously the goal of murdering all humans on earth is Bad but ultimately his point was that humans cant accept the existence of mutants. and i mean. his point was kinda proven over and over again throughout the movie? and literally the only reason the mutants (minus superfly) were welcomed into society or whatever was because they helped defeat "a bad mutant". but that. sends a weird message? i think? bc like. so if youre just existing as someone different from others, people can just outcast you and thats totally cool and fine and if you want to be accepted you have to be useful to them in some way? i dont think thats a very good message gdkjfgd,,, idk maybe its not that deep either but it left me feeling kinda. wondering how long this would even last,, which sounds pretty pessimistic but i hope im getting my point across.

Hey I'd like to say this, Charlie has never explicitly said he is uncomfortable with the shipping/sexual fan works. (Only that his GF Grace doesn't really like them) Charlie heavily encourages shipping in the JRWI podcast, and has canonically had sex in said podcast with an npc- he isn't new to all this stuff lol he just never seen the insane amount of fan work coming from this SMP. Let's not make assumptions until Charlie himself explicitly says something about it.

1. i dont know how to tell you that even when its "just" charlies girlfriend who has been stated to be actively uncomfortable you should still care because shes a human person and yes even her opinion matters here. because you should care about other people

2. charlie did not explicitly say "i am uncomfortable and people should stop making slimeriana porn" no but he does call the porn the weirdest fanart thats been made of him (and he doesnt say Of His Characters, he says Of Him. i wont say that this suddenly means the qsmp characters arent characters, they are, but i feel that makes it clear that this is different from jwri. which should have been obvious anyways?)

3. going off of 2, while weird is often used as a positive thing on tumblr, i certainly hope that you interact with people in the real world enough to know that charlie doesnt necessarily mean it positively here (especially made clear by how mariana mentions that he likes it, which.. clearly means he got the impression that charlie Doesnt)

4. the most i will admit here is that yes it wasnt an explicit boundary and i misspoke there. however i still think that people should be more considerate about the content that they make. grace is uncomfortable and charlie doesnt seem very comfortable himself based off basic use of context clues. from what i can tell i think one of his mods is going to ask for clarification so hopefully we can get a clarification but as far as what we have goes yeah i am fully within my right to say what I Feel is the correct course of action based off what has been said so far. thats not speaking for charlie thats just saying what i think. good day i hope debating about the morals of minecraft porn with some 17yr old on the internet was better than like idk going outside and feeling the sun on your face

So basically my overall opinion is just that I dont think it actually matters; basically every argument in favour of needing gay actors falls flat to me. I dont believe it adds authenticity or whatever, I dont believe it increases whatever good is being done by the representation itself etc. I have some sympathy for this in the sense that a lot of famous actors ARE actually a bit rubbish and can only play characters similar to themselves. But this is its own problem imo, an actually good actor should be able to play a character of any sexuality. In fact I think its starts to border on offensive when people suggest being gay is just too foreign to straight people. Whats more is that the actors arent really the driving force; lots of terribly written gay characters have been played by gay actors, if you're concerned about authenticity and how that potentially bleeds into being actively bad representation the place to start is the writers room not the cast.

Only one thing has ever been pointed out to me that I did agree with which is that if certain media is deliberately written to boost LGBT representation then it should be employing LGBT actors. And yeah that's true enough, I dont think it has to be a 1 to 1 conversion like LGBT actors can play cishet characters if its a good fit but they should be making some effort to include a high number.

Having said all that, the two most common arguments against needing gay actors to play gay characters also fall entirely flat.

"It should only be about who's the best actor": no it shouldn't lmao. Obviously you want the best actor possible but almost every character is constrained by some other characteristics - age, gender, race, height, and so on. You dont cast David Tennant as Matilda no matter how good of an actor he is. Sexuality isnt any worse or better as something to take into consideration.

"Saying gay actors should play gay characters forces people out of the closet" this one just winds me up especially when it moves from media into a general idea that NOTHING ever should be specifically for LGBT people. Nobody is being forced to do anything because people don't think you should play a certain character. Playing a gay character is not some human right being taken away from actors unless they come out of the closet. Its not even actually being taken away, just disapproved of. There are actually loads of gay characters being played by straight actors who just ignore any disapproval. People dont have to like your work and if they dislike it on the basis that you arent (openly) gay, that doesnt make it some kind of hate crime. It is not akin to outing someone or whatever. This goes double for media that is actively hailed as some big progressive representation. Again I feel like it starts getting offensive at a certain point like all these twitter gays who want to see themselves represented by actors who are also gay are some massive force controlling the poor millionaire actors who have no choice but to bend. I have sympathy for actors who are just starting out but I still think its on you to decide to either not portray a certain character if you dont wanna discuss or just ignore any comments.

It comes around to celebrity culture as well because when actors are just... good at their jobs and not really in the limelight on a personal I rarely see any comments like this. Its actors who's personal lives are consistently a major focus of the news. And like whose fault that is is a whole other question but it does make me think like this wouldn't be a problem if we just treated actors like normal people and wouldnt even know their sexuality.

(Fyi all of this goes for actors playing bisexual characters too I have just simplified it, it gets more complicated when talking of trans characters).
