The heat was unbearable. You should be used to it at this point but you doubted it was anything anyone ever could get used to.

You’ve been walking for what seemed like hours, dragging your feet through the sand as the sun was burning down on your head, slowly cooking your brain from the inside.

Vash, your companion, seemed unbothered by the heat for the most part, it only seemed to get to your head and body as your muscles started to feel heavy and your strength keeping you up and going slowly left you with every step.

This was exhausting. You were getting tired.

You felt awfully slow, the heat muddling with your thoughts and perception of time.

So it took you longer than you’d liked to admit to process what was happening. How your feet were suddenly dangling in the air, your view was upside down and your body was swaying steadily with every step Vash took…Vash!

You started to wriggle in the man’s grip. Because for some reason, one you’d hoped he’d explain soon, Vash had just taken it upon himself to throw you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“Vash!” You cried out, some of your energy flooding back into your body in favour of letting you feel embarrassed.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got you!” Vash promised sincerely as if he thought you were worried about him dropping you.

Which was not the issue!

You said his name again, lowering your voice into what was meant to sound like indignation but ended up sounding more like whining.

You started kicking your legs.

Vash swayed in his step, his cybernetic arm that was holding you by your waist on top of his shoulder tightening its grip.

“Please calm down, my dear, we’ll fall.”

“No, Vash! Let me down.”

“Oh?” The man slowed his step, voice dropping “Is my shoulder uncomfortable?”

The genuine concern in his voice made you want to hit your head against his back. That was not the issue!

“No…Yes…I don’t-“ You groaned, pushing your face into your hands “Put me down, I can walk!”

“You said you were tired,” Vash echoed back, sounding confused.

Oh…you hadn’t meant to say that out loud.

“I’ll carry you until you’ll feel better.” You could almost hear the soft smile in those words and could actually feel the gentle pat he gave your calf with his other arm.

Your leg kicked out on reflex and you heard Vash’s pitiful whine as your foot collided with his thigh.

“Don’t kick me,” he complained with a sniffle and you felt instantly bad, you might even have apologised if Vash would let you down already.

“Just put me down already.”

Vash came to a stop.

“I don’t want you to over-exhaust yourself,” he explained gently.

Your heart warmed at his words and you let out a sigh. It was annoying how stupidly charming and sincere Vash was. It made it hard to deny him anything. Thankfully your feelings of embarrassment won over your affection for the blond…at least for now.

“That’s…nice and all but…did you have to throw me over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes?”

“Oh!” Vash called out, sounding embarrassed himself now.

He quickly manoeuvred you around before you could realise what he was doing. You slid down his shoulders and into his open arms as he adjusted you until he was holding you in a bridal carry…

“That’s better then?”

You blinked up at the man’s face. He smiled down at you, eyes closed and head cocked to the side. The sun behind his head made it look like he was wearing a halo.

The heat in your cheeks couldn’t be blamed on the sun this time.

“Vash, just let me down please,” you whispered, afraid your voice would break.

He obliged this time, setting you down on both of your feet before taking a step back to give you some space.

When you turned to look at him, Vash stood with his head bowed down and his back curved, eyes lowered to the ground. He looked like a kicked puppy. Oh no.

“I’m sorry!” He apologised, bowing deeper and you could hear the sadness in his voice.

You rolled your eyes, a soft smile tugging at your lips. How were you so lucky to meet such a sweet guy as him? It was almost unfair.

You closed the distance between the two of you.

“Head,” you ordered gently.

Without questioning you, he lowered his head more to make it easier for you to reach up and pat his head, fingers softly ruffling through his strands.

“I’m not mad. Next time ask first.”

You would subconsciously seek him out for refuge during those moments when it all felt like too much, and sometimes, you didn't even realise just how much you gravitated towards him.

Even with sleep, he was still someone you relied on - just knowing he was there, laid next to you, was usually enough to steady your mind.

But sometimes, the feel of his body beside you wasn't enough to keep you asleep. You'd often jitter and jolt and toss during your nights of slumber, past memories coming back to haunt you in the form of nightmares - all of it keeping you from resting peacefully.

They were manageable for a while until very recently, when you'd essentially thrash yourself awake. Peter, your boyfriend, would be awake before you - the movement of you beside him coaxing himself out of sleep.

But tonight was the worst one you've had for a while. It felt like you were stuck in your nightmare and unable to wake up - the feel of it all too heavy and daunting.

Unbeknownst to you, Quill was trying to help, sat beside you, calling your name and gently shaking your arm, trying to force you awake. Your head jolts abruptly, and you finally wake - fear all over your face as you pat the bed to find Peter.

He calls your name once more, his voice soft and soothing - trying to help you locate him. "It's okay," he coos, adjusting to lay back down beside you, facing you. “It’s okay, honey.”

"It was horrible," you mumble tearfully, shaking your head. "It..."

"It seemed horrible," he comforts, bringing his hand to rest on the side of your face, palm large and warm as he thumbs over your cheek. "Was it the same one?"

You hum softly, closing your eyes from the warm touch of your lover.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asks faintly.

You shake your head 'no'.

He hums quietly, understanding you.

He scooches in closer and slips his arm under your head, propping you up so he can pull you into him. You curl into his side, head resting on his bicep - burying your face into his chest like you were hiding, using him as protection almost.

He wraps his other arm over you, bringing you closer so he's cradling you - like he's trying to keep you safe.

"I'll stay up. I'll keep you safe, you get some sleep," Peter murmurs, pressing a kiss into your forehead as he grips you tighter.

The comforting smell of his chest and the warm touch of his hands slowly eases you back into sleep - the steady circles Quill drew on your back act as a distraction from your mind, swarmed within a blanket of security.

With burning, tear-stained eyes, Gun stared at his phone’s excruciatingly bright screen, its light seeming to brutally laugh back at him. His fingers hovering over the keyboard, representing the blankness of his conscious mind as he read those words. Every second seems to consume his already wasted energy, hands trembling. Biting down on his already bloody under lip, he tried to make sense of it all.

“This is what happens when you betray me” Charles Choi had harshly typed through the screen, following with a picture of Goo’s lifeless body lying on the floor.

Gun felt an unimaginable sense of despair as he stared at the lifeless phone screen. He couldn't fathom the idea that Goo was no more. His mind raced, he needed to do something, anything. He couldn’t bring himself to stand properly.

His emotions were a cocktail of denial and despair. Finally, it dawned on him that Goo was actually not in his life anymore. Unable to process the information, something inside him snapped and he suddenly lost it. Gun threw the phone on the ground in frustration, watching it break into small pieces. His hands trembling, he looked at the pieces of the phone and the shattered reality. The phone had gone silent, just like Goo's life.

Gun sank to his knees, the pain and agony finally crept up on him, taking over his entire being with an overwhelming surge of emotions breaking through his defenses. He broke down into tears, crying aloud in despair, grief, and guilt. He had avoided showing any emotion, yet he couldn't help it. His friend was gone and there was nothing he could do. The reality sank in.

Running his hands through his hair, desperately trying to make sense of what had happened, his mind raced of thoughts of what could've been and what should've happened. He had betrayed the man he loved. He thought of their shared times together, their late nights drinking and laughing. They were the best times of his life. He wished he could turn back time and tell him how much he loved him. But most of all, he wanted closure. He should’ve had that drink with him.

Raine collects soda tabs (self projecting lol) and now every time that Eda or Darius drinks a soda they always take off the tab and give it to them (getting a kiss in return)

Hooty loves Raine but despises Darius for absolutely no reason

Raine taught Darius bass guitar and ukulele so he could play music with them and Eda

Picnic dates. A lot

In a horror movie, Eda would laugh and call put the jumpscares, Raine would shriek and jump under the covers, and Darius would sigh and comfort them (he is also very spooked)

Raine refuses to listen to Christmas music until exactly November 24th

Darius and Eda play this game where they keep buying each other random bath and body works scents and guessing what they are with their eyes closed

Darius has a grwm penstagram 😭😭

They went to the fnaf movie together in different character pajamas (Eda as Chica, Darius as Foxy, and Raine as Freddy)

Sometimes they all sit down in a circle together and hold hands and hum, and Raine makes a bard spell about like harmony and love and safety and shit. They do this like every night to make them all feel safe :)

For every rose they give each other, Eda saves one petal and grows a new rose out of it in a secret little garden she has in a pocket realm <3

Raine constantly overworks themself, Eda constantly blames herself, and Darius never opens up :(
