Cooking Dragons
Headcanon brainrot going on below the cut. Part 1/6
Canon won’t give us much and quite frankly I always use canon as a suggestion but not set in stone, unless I like it.
Since both Phaser and Tremolo grew up most of their lives without parents, Phaser basically stepped up as a father and mother for Tremolo. Searching for shelter, trying to cook food, protecting Tremolo from any harm, making sure his brother stays clean and fix any form of ripped clothing with whatever he could find.
Cooking
Sadly, Phaser is a terrible cook and after a long back and forth and a lot of protests on Phaser’s behalf, Tremolo takes over preparing the meals. I like to imagine their mother was a great cook and Tremolo kind of seems like a mama’s boy to me, so he would often help her and picked up on her talent.
(This mostly came to me while watching the scene, where Shewbahha eats the scroll of Phaser’s scales and Tremolo is horrified. I know it’s mostly because it’s HIS brother’s scales, but I also like to think that he gets easily offended and grossed out when people eat anything “inedible” or something you should generally not eat.)
(Also huge shout out to @gedascrown5768 for convincing me Phaser would not only manage to somehow burn a drink, but also burn down the kitchen. Good thing Tremolo is here or there would be more than only a censore bar...)
Once they gain mansion staff, Tremolo picks out the cook and kitchen staff and puts them through training, before letting them work for him and Phaser.

every post i see criticizing trigun stampede is the same. they all talk about the same thing:
vash is too goofy vash is a cry baby vash is useless vash isnt badass enough vash is pathetic BLAH BLAH BLAH
and this comes from people who prefer the '98 anime over the reboot. but did these people watch the original with their eyes closed???
vash is outwardly goofy because thats how he wants to come off. i mean, he *is* goofy but inherently he's serious and intelligent. and how is he not badass enough in the reboot? are you watching this one with your eyes closed too? look, i also prefer the '98 anime over the reboot because thats what i grew up with but the reboot is still spectacular as it is. besides, it's pre-July (JuLai) and vash still has so much growing to do!
i just feel like people who refuse to give the reboot a real chance are going in with a negative mindset so they watch the first episode and think thats all its ever going to be. seeing the same criticisms about the reboot is so exhausting. the only different thing ive noticed about reboot vash is that he isnt horny like '98 vash was but its not like thats integral to his character or anything. reboot vash deserves just as much love as '98 vash.

A collection of disjointed barbie thoughts (some minor world building spoilers)
Why is there only one Allan if theres like one Ken for each Barbie? Did all of them just leave and only the one stayed behind? Does another Allan appear when the last one leaves?
Also where DOES Ken live? In Barbies' backyard???
I guess Midge living with Skipper makes sense but all the other discontinued barbies seem to live with Weird Barbie. Or near her, at least.
What happens when a real world barbie doll is no longer played with? What about all those dolls on barbie tiktok that get makeovers and the content creators switch their heads around and repaint them and stuff? What happens to their Barbie Land counterpart? Is that why the disabled barbies exist (within this world building concept?)

Specific and Niche theories about the Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot #5: Predictions for Season 4
Okay so I know I said I was going to make a different part to this series first, but I wanted to get this out of the way while I still could.
As a loose introduction, I created a fanfiction-esque third season for AYAotD during March of 2021 (about a week or two after the last episode of Curse of the Shadows aired) that eerily lined up with some of the specific plot points of Ghost Island before that season was even announced.
(Getting into specifics, the details were "one dead twin, one living twin", "the dead and the living switch places at the climax", "takes place somewhere in the southern United States" (off the coast of Florida for Ghost Island, Texas for the one I made up (though I initially envisioned it as a direct sequel to Curse of the Shadows)), and "four-episode season". That was, however, all the details.)
So I'm going to take this opportunity to toss out some on-instinct predictions for a possible season 4 and revisit them to see if any were accurate.
Takes place in the northern United States (think Michigan, either of the Dakotas, or Indiana)
Dr. Vink is going to show up and be a major character, but played by an actor that looks different from the original portrayal. They are implied, however, to be the the exact same character from both incarnations.
One of the midnight society members will be either trans or nonbinary.
Will probably have something to do with demons, probably referencing Tale of the Quicksilver or Dark Music as its main inspirations.
The climax of the story will have something to do with a storm.
Feel free to add your own predictions, either in the tags or comments.

I've been in various fandoms for years but I've never come across the term "whump". Could you please explain it to me? I feel like the urban dictionary definition isn't capturing it well enough compared to what I'm seeing on tumblr.
hey! I’m no fandom expert but whump is sort of like hurt/comfort - but tends to be a more extreme (can’t think of a better word here) form of hurt (mental or physical). and often involves another individual caring for the one hurt.
you can look at the prompts for whumptober to get a better idea of the types of things that are written about in this category.
personally i don’t write whump as just the event but also like to focus the aftermath/effects/feelings that come with it and really get into the characters heads in these situations.
Hope that helps!

Do people not remember that period on Tumblr where neurodivergent people completely threw physically disabled people under the bus to further their movement? And then they wonder why we want our own space.
Things used in arguments I heard about 10 yrs ago:
- "you wouldn't say/do that to someone in a wheelchair"
- "we are literally physically disabled too bc our brain is an organ!!!"
- "physically disabled people get everything look they have special parking spaces and ramps!"
- "when you go to the doctor for physical illness they immediately give you all the medicine and work hard to find a cure like Dr. House, but when I go to the doctor they throw me out the window" (stuff along those lines at least)
Y'all kicked us out, ignored us, made your own lil club with its own terms, turned us into jokes and strawmen, and abandoned people who are both physically and mentally disabled.
We wanted solidarity and you all didn't.
But how dare we make our own community so our voices can be heard, god forbid we discuss issues important to physically disabled people in this community without mentioning neurodivergents. And when we get even a little pissed off? How dare we.
And it's happening again. I've seen the same rhetoric repeated. No one is saying that mentally disabled people have no issues or don't face ableism at all. Stop bringing up your issues on our posts, it derails it and clogs up the notes.
We had to separate ourselves because you all kicked us out first so that neurotypical people would accept you. You didn't want to be associated with the gross ugly cripples.
Cripplepunk community is not the same as disabled community. It's under the same umbrella, not a replacement. Stop taking over our spaces and stop posting shit in our tags.

I think one of my favorite things about Codywan is that it absolutely could be canon and wouldn’t disrupt the established timeline. I mean, a ship doesn’t have to be canon compliant to mean something but for me, personally, I so rarely fall for pairs that are possible that when I do it’s like, a little extra special.
And as someone who loves angst + hurt / comfort, codywan in canon would obviously be filled to the brim with both in order to maintain established canon. For example, Cody obviously isn’t in A New Hope, but with the clones accelerated aging that could easily be a sad but canon compliant reason why he’s not. Or in rebels, Rex mentions he believes Obi-Wan to be dead, and he talks about Cody as if he’s no longer around. That could be because Cody and Obi-Wan are hiding out together on Tattooine, just like the original draft of the Kenobi script.
Does this make sense? Do I think Lucasfilm would ever go for this? No. But do I think if they wanted to they could do so very, very easily and it would fit right into canon, like it always belonged? Yes.

I have this little headcanon cause i was reading the comic of obey me and we as mc have been given the neutral name zephyr in the very early chapters since we are a sheep and all and they want to make it inclusive since the name itself is gender neutral but I was thinking that let's say one day the curse is solved and sheep!mc gets their body back but the characters continue calling mc zephyr, what if one day someone (probably a side or secondary character) brings up the fact that "hey you know what? Your face doesn't really scream zephyr" and mc is like "yeah that's because that is not my actual given name, my actual name is ________" and the characters are like "😱😱😱" I mean they did know that this wasn't their real name since they gave it to them cause they can't just call them human and all but it's still shocking to hear it coming out of their own mouth, they would also probably coo when mc tells them their birth name because it means they learn more about their favorite person, well I mean they would coo at everything mc does regardless so-

maybe this is a lil controversial, but i feel like as a community we just need to... just stop thinking that stuff we read about shifting is bible, if that makes sense.
you can read advice and follow it, of course!! following advice is great, but shifting is built on the principle of intention and you're own mind. nothing governs that but yourself.
there are no rules, you can do whatever you want, just set your intention.
you don't need a safe word, because if you set the intention you will come back to your cr.
you don't need to script beause if you set an intention of what you want to happen, it will.
as long as you have the intention to shift somewhere, you will. that's as simple as it is, that's the basic principle.

a ramble about arthur's relationship with dutch and hosea
haven't used tumblr in a while (let alone made an actual original post in who knows how long) but i can't stop thinking about that one interaction between dutch and arthur in lakay. specifically: "you sound like hosea." it breaks my heart, because dutch is right in saying that. as chapter six unfolds into the tragedy it is, arthur becomes more and more like hosea, and just like hosea, arthur tries and tries and fails to get dutch, stubborn and single-minded, to see reason.
one of my favourite journal entries, is where arthur says, "i love dutch like a father, but in many ways i love hosea more." arthur loved hosea. hosea saw arthur for who he was. knew arthur wasn't near as dumb as he liked to pretend he was. one of my favourite interactions between arthur and hosea is early on in chapter 3, very shortly after they get to clemens point. arthur walks by hosea sitting at a table, who calls out to arthur and asks what he thinks about dutch's plans. arthur's response is "you know me, i never did much thinking." to which which hosea says one of my favourite lines in the game, and it's a line that gives far more insight into arthur, hosea and their dynamic than you might first think.
dutch was arthur's father in a more abstract way. whether it was dutch's intention or not (and i believe, at the very least, it was later on), i always found his "you're like a son to me" comments to arthur to be very manipulative in nature, meant to reel arthur back in when he's concerned he's "getting away," so to speak. i have personal experience with men trying to get me on their good side by saying i'm like a kid to them, and maybe i'm projecting a little because of that, but the way dutch says that to arthur triggers the same alarm bells in my brain.
again: "i love dutch like a father, but in many ways, i love hosea more." say what you want, but hosea was arthur's true dad. he was his dad in all the ways that mattered. hosea knew arthur so well, he knew arthur was putting on "an angry moron act." in the video i linked, he sounds genuinely frustrated when he continues saying "but it's a thin enough veneer." he knows arthur is capable of more. is capable of being better, and i think hosea knew that things were doomed in the end, whether or not he would admit it.
arthur spent a lot of time, both early in the story and at the end, reflecting on what was happening, on himself, on the other gang members. i like to think he was unconsciously channeling hosea in chapter 6. honestly, the parallels are kind of painful. maybe that's, in part, why dutch was so adamant on not listening to arthur; because he reminded him, painfully, of hosea, his oldest and dearest friend. of course, that's not the only reason, but it makes sense, doesn't it? arthur is so much like hosea, and we see that more and more as the story progresses.

re: "All I’m saying is the fact that someone isn’t talking to me about Eliot Spencer every second of every day is very unfair and borderline illegal." & tags - if you want to, can you elaborate on your werewolf!eliot ideas?? i’d like to hear about it!! if not all good tho :)
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Yes I would love to elaborate! (buckle up because i have Thoughts)
(wow this really got away from me so uhhh .... warning for 2k of ranting about Eliot as a werewolf?? list of headcanons under the cut)
From the moment I first met Eliot Spencer, I knew he was werewolf-coded. Aside from his insanely fantastic fighting abilities and the absurd amount of punishment he can take, there are many other factors that contribute to his werewolf status.
Eliot needs a pack Our boy is out here working on his own for years and look at all the good it did him! None! He carries severe trauma from his family life because he blames himself for how it all went down and doesn't think he'll be welcomed back. Plus something probably happened during his military days or early PMC days to put him off working with others. Could have been the pain of losing people all the time, could have been something more. Either way, Eliot working on his own is a defence mechanism - but a self-destructive one.
Wolves thrive in packs - like duh, they're pack animals. As my username suggests, I'm into werewolves and, by extension, wolves. I've done research for my own werewolf novels in the past, so I know that in an average wolf pack, each pack member will have physical contact with the other pack members on the regular. Like, several times an hour! (gosh if I can find the research paper this info came from I'll link it but honestly it's been years) That's a serious level of physical contact required to keep the emotional bonds of the pack healthy!
Flick back to Eliot. He loves to fight, he loves the violence and the pain, yes. He hates the killing and the blood on his hands. He actually tries to leave the assassin world behind after he meets Toby (which is before he meets Moreau, as per early dialogue in The French Connection Job). He bonds quickly with Toby. Show Eliot a little love and care and he's yours for life! He moves onto retrieval work, then somehow ends up working for Moreau.
Now, when we see Eliot and Moreau in The Big Bang Job, Moreau says, "You work alone." Which means that Eliot had that reputation when he came to Moreau. He probably only took contracts to start off with. But he accepted job after job from Moreau and was so good that he was highly respect and it's inferred he ended up as Moreau's top bodyguard/assassin. Why the hell would Eliot end up that close to a man who brings out all the worst in him? Because Eliot's a werewolf and no matter how toxic, Moreau fulfills the need for a pack bond that he's been missing all this time.
Fast forward to Eliot meeting the rest of the Leverage team. One job only - my ass. He saves Hardison's life after Hardison brought a gun to their little meeting - and we all know how Eliot feels about guns.
Wolves are designed to live and operate in packs. Eliot says it's one job only but is bonding with them all from the get-go. Werewolf trait confirmed.
Eliot needs physical touch Now, I know what you're thinking. Eliot canonically avoids physical contact with the team. He refuses hugs, especially from Hardison, growls at Parker poking his bruises (don't get me started on the growls), and shoves people (ahem Parker) out of his personal space. So why would he do all this if he needs physical touch??
Because he's one gigantic ball of angst and self-loathing and guilt.
Eliot doesn't think he deserves forgiveness or love or family, etc. That is a whole other rant, but he denies himself the physical contact he needs with others as a way of punishing himself.
However, as the series progresses, we see him become more comfortable with physical contact! He hugs Hardison several times, he doesn't move away from Parker, etc. Why? Because he's bonded with this team (ahem pack) and there's only so much he can suppress his instincts. The more time he spends with them, the more naturally the contact flows.
Eliot needs to protect others Whenever we get a scene of the team walking as a group, where is Eliot positioned 90% of the time?? That's right, at the back of the group. He lets the others walk in pairs and falls back to bring up the rear. He's keeping them all in his line of sight and constantly scanning for threats ahead, along with protecting the team from any rear attacks. It makes sense for him to do this given his military background, but it also makes sense for a werewolf to do this.
He's the only werewolf in the team. His instincts revolve around keeping the pack safe and protected, so he does that in the best way he knows how.
Not to mention how feral gets over kids!!
Wolf life is all about the pack and the family structure. Pups are integral to the pack's survival and future. Eliot doesn't have kids of his own. But that doesn't stop his instincts from blaring every time he interacts with a kid, be it on the con or off. He takes time out every time to help that kid in an attempt to calm the raging storm of instincts inside his body.
Eliot needs to feed others It's another werewolf instinct that rears its head when they're in the safety of their headquarters (ahem den). Protecting the team/pack from physical threats is just one aspect of taking care of them. Feeding them is the other major one.
None of these idiots can cook to save their lives - except Nate, but he's also drowning his liver 90% of the time, so Eliot has to compensate for that, too. The team can't operate at full capacity if they're not consuming good nutrition. So Eliot makes sure to feed them.
His humanity recognises that these are independent people - coworkers - and he can't control every meal of every day. But he can cook for them, once a week or once a job, which is just enough to satisfy his instincts that he's doing his part to care for them. Plus they love his cooking, and the praise he gets from it is an unexpected but pleasant bonus.
Eliot and team sports/kitchens This ties in with my first point about Eliot needing a pack, but all the times we see Eliot go super hard and get absorbed in the role he's playing are when he's on a team sport or he's in the kitchen. Both of these fulfill super important instincts for him - being in a team/pack and providing food for others.
Think about The Tap-Out Job. Eliot's playing a fighter but he's not pretending to be on a team. He doesn't get over-invested in the role. But what about when he's a baseball player? A hockey player? He falls into those roles hard because he's working with another team again, and this little werewolf is built for that environment. Same in The French Connection: the kitchen becomes his den, the students are his pack mates, and he goes hard at investing in them and protecting them. Never mind the personal aspect of Toby.
Same for episodes like The Fairy Godparents Job when we get a scene of Eliot teaching a bunch of girls self-defence. Team setting + protecting kids = happy werewolf instincts.
So, werewolf headcanons? I have a lot of different origin theories but the main one I like for Eliot is:
he became a werewolf either for a covert military op, or was bitten by Moreau (choose your own angst flavour)
if it was for the military, they were trying to engineer supersoldiers and he was deemed a failure; he has werewolf instincts all the time but only has enhanced strength, healing, etc on full moons
if it was bitten by Moreau, there's a psychic-style bond linking them, which is why he was so loyal to Moreau for so long, and also why he is so reluctant to go after Moreau
(wow this is too different theories already and i said this was my 'main one' whoops)
Eliot can only shift easily on the full moon; shifting outside of a full moon can only be caused by extreme stress and is ridiculously painful
he suffers an insanely high prey drive all the time and is so strict about his control because he doesn't actually wanna rip out the throat of Random Guard #3
he used to chain himself up for full moons so he didn't hurt anyone, but since the team found out about him, Hardison and Parker have taken it upon themselves to 'puppy-sit' him every full moon
this involves no chains but an obscene amount of dog chew toys. Eliot is never impressed. He also never chases or chews the toys. The video evidence Hardison has was obviously doctored.
Hardison and Parker found out the truth when a con went sideways and Eliot was trapped in a room with them during the full moon
he was terrified he was going to kill them - or worse, bite them - but his instincts recognised them as pack so instead he just tried to wrestle with them all night
Hardison had a major freak out when he discovered Eliot was a werewolf - it's one thing to be obsessed with sci-fi/fantasy, it's another thing entirely to see your best friend transform before your eyes
Parker was not even remotely phased, being all like, "pfft of course werewolves are real, I thought you knew that Hardison, you talk about your elves and orcs all the time!"
"Woman that is completely different and you know it!"
"What else do you think is fake? The tooth fairy?? Ha!"
Eliot is Done With Their Shenanigans
Parker only ever refers to Eliot as Sparky when he's in his wolf form
Sophie didn't actually know about werewolves before the reveal but she pretends that she did
Nate knew about werewolves before Eliot, he just chooses to pretend that they're Not A Thing
werewolves generally don't make good hitters, because the constant exposure to violence ramps up their hunting instincts aka they find it hard not to kill
of course, this doesn't matter if you're someone like Moreau who specifically wants killing machines and thus turns his top hitters into werewolves, to ensure loyalty and enhance his strength
the only other werewolf hitter not under Moreau's control that Eliot knows is Quinn, who most certainly did not pull his werewolf strength punches when they tousled in The First David Job
Quinn doesn't have a pack (werewolf or otherwise) and genuinely doesn't seem phased by this, which pisses off Eliot to no end
however, after they work together in The Last Dam Job, Quinn deems himself Eliot's Best Werewolf Bud and keeps popping up randomly to hang out on full moons, etc
Parker and Hardison are a bit weirded out (and a little jealous) of Quinn's attention initially, but soon get over that when they discover that two werewolves on a full moon absolutely play for hours like 6 month old puppies - especially with the tug rope
Eliot is Extremely Susceptible to belly rubs even in his human form, which is half the reason he pushes people out of his personal space a lot - his reputation would never survive anyone finding out
of course the entire team figures it out and take to ambushing him with belly rubs whenever he's being stubborn or annoying
belly rubs are also the only way he will relax enough when he's injured so they can treat his wounds
despite the incessant dog jokes, the ever-growing pile of dog toys, and the bowls labelled with "Sparky" and cartoon bone symbols ... Eliot absolutely adores the pack he's found himself in and wouldn't change them for the world
One of these days I will sit down and write a thousand fics for werewolf!Eliot! Till then, I'll just keep churning out the headcanons ;)

I love when (fan)fiction does this thing when a non-magic character first hooks up with a magic character and they kinda expect all this weird kinky magic stuff to happen and they're equal amounts nervous and excited.
And then it just doesn't. Oh sure, there is magic in bed, actual magic, but its the most mundane and unsexy quality of life type of magic ever.
Examples, MCU edition:
Doctor Stephen Strange, world renowned surgeon turned world renowned sorcerer: uses just enough magic to steady his shaking hands so he can feel more confident about touching back.
Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, highest ranking person in the entire magic society: summons any kind of required supplies with the same casual countenance as if it was a sleight of hand card production trick instead of actual magic.
Wanda Maximoff, fearsome Scarlett Witch, master of the most volitile Chaos Magic: uses telekinesis to pick up the pillow that fell to the floor during the initial shuffle to make herself more comfortable.
Loki Laufeyson, God of Mischief, shapeshifter, alive long enough to have tried everything the Nine Realms have to offer (and some things they don't): only uses his magic to clean up after. Because he's Royalty and cleaning is Beneath Him.
They all know the weird kinky magic stuff is something that has to be properly negotiated first. So non-magic character better be ready for next time---
