bit o’ a rant bc i just got thrown into the past abt antis //
i just opened this account i haven’t opened in forever because i haven’t seen them active in a while and got blasted with the most unforgiving ‘dni proship freaks nobody wants you’ in big bold capitalized letters and just KNOCKED back into a few months ago when that fandom was having a meltdown because like 4 proshippers existed.

I was gonna write a big ol rant but basically I’m tired of seeing discussions about the concerning decline in media literacy and reading comprehension being reduced to conversations about shipping and morality discourse, that is literally the smallest fraction of this problem

So like here something that I can’t seem to figure out.
Why are people in fandoms so up in arms about someone shipping fictional characters (who do not exist) and those said characters in canon having an age gap or being siblings or have an abusive dynamic or whatever.
Why does anybody care if they’re not real. The person that’s making the content is not enabling anything. It’s not enabling pedo’s or abusers to do or justify anything. Shipping a pair of fictional siblings doesn’t lead to an increase of incestual relationships.
Now granted while I have no interest in shipping those kinds of anyways. I still find it weird that fandoms are so hyper fixated upon it anyway.

I gotta say, bad batch fans (and even clone fans more broadly) can be toxic AF, esp on twitter.

I’m not trying to attack you, but do you know that proshipper means someone who supports and romanticizes pedophilia, incest, and abuse? Your reblog on that post seems to read that you think antis just hate on people for having ships they don’t like. But it’s completely different than that. Just looking on the proshipper side of Tumblr and the internet and you can see people happily shipping children and adults and making nsfw content of such things.
i appreciate that you're not being outright hostile, but i have to say, that on its own put you above basically every anti i've interacted with.
i understand where antis are coming from, i really do. there are a lot of things on the internet that make me deeply uncomfortable, including the minor/adult ships that you mention. i don't want to anything to do with those kinds of ships and i would be happiest if i never saw them again. which is why i'm proship.
nine times out of ten, if i see that kind of ship brought up on my dash, it's because i was following an anti without realizing it, and they brought it up unprompted and untagged, to talk about how bad it is that they exist. they are the ones putting that kind of content in front of my face and making it harder to avoid.
the thing about people who ship those ships is that they're generally very aware that not everyone wants to see that kind of content, and so they tag it. they make sideblogs to talk about it. they don't go out of their way to shove it in people's faces. that means i, and everyone else who doesn't like it, can avoid it.
what antis want is for it to not exist at all. they want the tags to be purged and blocked, and for anyone who uses those tags to have their accounts deleted. and sure, that might get rid of some of it, but do you know what would happen to the rest? it would stop being tagged. people who don't want to see it wouldn't have the tools to avoid it. this isn't just a hypothetical, that's what's happened any time a fan space has tried to do that.
that's not even getting into the rabbit hole of what should be banned and what shouldn't. obviously any content that depicts real children or real life abuse shouldn't exist and shouldn't be allowed to be posted, but basically any platform that people use already enforces those policies, and there's not much of a slippery slope to go down there. if it involves real living breathing people being abused, it's bad. end of discussion.
but the same can't be said for fiction. ask ten antis for a specific list of all the content that should be banned, and you'll get ten different answers. what about kink? what about roleplay? what about horror and murder and anything that involves fictional characters being graphically tortured? what about people using art to process terrible things that have happened to them? what about art that uses dark themes as a horror element? if you just want to ban anything questionable to anyone, that's the line of thinking that gets any mention of lgbt existence banned. and again, this isn't just a hypothetical, this has happened before, and that's generally where it leads.
i know, from personal experience, that antis do, in fact, send harassment to people just for shipping things they don't like. i've gotten accused of absolutely vile shit for shipping two fictional characters who were both consenting adults. i've seen ship wars turn into moral battlegrounds, over ships that an average person wouldn't bat an eye at.
the thing about "romanticization" is a whole other can of worms. the anti logic goes like this: if someone sees something (even if it's very obviously fictional) in a positive light enough times, they will start thinking it's okay in real life, and go on to hurt real people. the problem with that is that it's just. blatantly untrue.
if it were true every horror movie fan would be a serial killer, every person that studies dark media would be an unhinged psychopath, and everyone who is into ddlg would be a pedophile. but they're not. they just aren't. people have directed movies just as fucked up as the darkest shit on ao3, and are still capable of being normal human beings who know right from wrong in real life.
even if someone is that impressionable, scrubbing away the existence of every piece of questionable content isn't going to solve their problem, because they're still going to be vulnerable to con men, scams, and cultists. the only thing that would actually materially help someone like that is developing their own morals and critical thinking.
children are also more impressionable, and there's a lot of content that's not suitable for them, but that doesn't mean that content shouldn't exist. it just means that they should stick to spaces designed for them (which most social media sites, tumblr included, are not) or, if they're old enough to be responsible for their experience online, they, or a trusted adult in their lives, should block and filter out things that they aren't comfortable with.
which is what everyone on the internet should be doing. it's what i do, and it's made the internet a much more pleasant place to be. and it's why i sometimes worry for antis mental health, especially teenagers, because they're being told it's right and moral to seek out content that makes them uncomfortable and to engage with the people making it. and that's just. really bad. it's not good for the creators that they're harassing obviously, but it's also really bad for them! it's not healthy to seek out things that make you feel bad, and it's a terrible internet safety lesson to teach minors that it's okay for them to seek out and engage with people making adult content.
individual harassment and crusading is never going to succeed at removing dark content from the internet. it just isn't. at best you might get a small percentage of people who create that content to stop sharing it, at worst you're just going to make people stop tagging it, and either way, you're exposing yourself to things that make you feel bad, when you don't have to.
if you want to materially change the type of content you see, you can. the block button is your friend, use it liberally. same with content filtering and tag blocking.

Fandom PSAs
Tumblr media
Dont’ Like, Don’t Read
or DL; DR
You are responsible for curating your own online experience.
If something upsets you, makes you angry or queasy or triggers you, stop reading/looking at it. Avoid things that might make you feel that way.
Learn to use the Sort and Filter function on AO3, especially the Exclude tools.
On social media, block and mute accounts / tags / words when necessary.
If you hated something, you don’t need to tell that to the creator or start pointing fingers at them publicly.
The Back button is free. Use it.
Tumblr media
Addendum:
Yes, for this to work, creators need to tag their works accordingly, so that people know what sort of content they are about to engage with and can nope out if necessary.
I will probably make another PSA about the importance of proper tagging later.
Tumblr media
Ship And Let Ship
or SALS
You are allowed to ship whatever you want.
Everyone else is also allowed to ship whatever they want.
You are entitled to dislike or even hate a ship. If you want to do this online, in public, don’t use the ship tags for hate posts.
If you see someone posting about a ship they like and you don’t, there is no need for you to start arguing with them in their replies / comments / QRTs / reblogs. Don’t throw your hate in their face.
Do not harass fan creators or fans for shipping something you disapprove.
All of this also applies to liking / disliking an individual character.
Tumblr media
Addendum:
”I agree with this, except when…”
No, then you are NOT agreeing with this.
Let me make this VERY clear. There are NO exceptions. None.
You don’t EVER harass real people over pixels.
If you disagree with this, kindly block and move on.
Tumblr media
Your Kink Is Not My Kink
or YKINMK / YKINMKATO
The longer version is ”Your Kink Is Not My Kink And That’s Okay”.
People have different tastes. Not everything is for everybody.
Even if you don’t like a specific kink, other people are still allowed to use it in their creations.
You are entitled to dislike kinky content and think that it’s ”weird”.
Don’t kink shame or judge people based on their kinks.
This goes both ways: your kink is not someone else’s kink, so don’t push it onto those who are not into it.
Tumblr media
Be Kind
or Don’t Be An Asshole
Focus on the things you like instead of the things you hate.
Create and unite instead of destroying and dividing.
Don’t harass real people over fictional things.
Stop stirring up petty drama just to get some attention on social media.
Stop trying to ”win”. Fandom is not a competition.
Remember that your own experiences aren’t universally shared. Your perception of things can differ from someone else’s, but that doesn’t mean either of you is necessarily wrong.

Like a Drug
Toxic!Anakin x Reader
Tumblr media
a/n: hihihi, this one is a pretty long one shot ahh sorry! its based on this ask from @hanasnx ! (Though I did change the promp a little) I just wanted to also update that It is officially finals week- so I'll be slower than i alr am SORRY!! but i have been working on the next xhapters of allow me and enigma when i get breaks!! I hope u enjoy! ALSO! Please don't stay w someone if they act the way anakin does in this fic- this is purely a scenario for fictional purposes, never let anyone do anything he does, to you.
Anakin has a very peculiar way of showing his love; well you call it love other people call it an unhealthy obsession... you finally realize how fucked up the situation is and leave- but the real question is how long can you stay away?
warnings: cursing, toxic bf ani, smex, cumplay, agressive behavior, mention of blood, fights, alluded sexual harassment, anakin is obsessive and posessive. (he's does some fucked up shit)
_____________________
“Get up” Anakin’s stern voice rang as he gripped your upper arm.
You jumped at the unexpected contact- why was Anakin here?
“Ani! You scared m-” you started to laugh before he tightened his grip.
“Now.” he growled.
You looked back at your friends sitting across the table from you; their eyes were wide. Before you could say anything, Anakin started to pull you up.
“Let go of her!” one of your friends demanded.
He snapped his head towards her and only loosened his grip on you to stomp to the other side of the table. His tall frame towered as he glared daggers at her.
“The fuck did you just say?” he spat.
She went pale and looked down at her lap.
“That’s what I thought. Anyone else have any smart comments?” he huffed, before promptly pulling you out of the restaurant.
Before you made it all the way out the door you mouthed an “its ok” to your friends before following your boyfriend outside.
“Anakin, what the fuck?” you exclaimed, throwing your hands in the air.
He continued towards his sleek black camaro (he loved to drive through the city at night, music blaring and his hand on his property, your thigh).
“Don’t fucking ignore me Anakin!” you shouted, gaining the attention of an older couple who were heading inside the restaurant.
Your cheeks burned as you caught their stares, but honestly you were used to this shit, it wasn’t the first time you and Ani had made a scene in public. Anakin always did this- he would get pissy over some irrelevant thing and you would get into an argument.
He stopped and turned with such anger.
“You really wanna know? You shouldnt have to fuckin’ ask why I’m upset! If you ever thought of anyone but yourself you’d see how fucked up it is of you to get dinner with those bitches who want to break us up” he screamed; his beautiful blue eyes dark with rage.
You knew Anakin hated your friends. And you knew they hated him.
“You know they don’t like me and always try to get you to leave- Meanwhile those sluts cant keep their legs shut; they’re probably just jealous cause I’m the only guy who gets to fuck you and they have to find a new one every night!” he spat.
Most of your friends were in stable relationships, but of course Anakin didn’t bother to remember that.
“How am I selfish Anakin? I just wanted to grab dinner with the girls and you didn’t even come up. I told them not to bring you up after the last fight” you sighed, exhausted from Anakin's irrational moods.
His sculpted jaw clenched and his right eye twitched.
“It's the fact that you still even allow their company, it’s disrespectful.”
You shook your head and huffed in disbelief.
“Anakin, you are absolutely unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable… Do you even hear yourself right now?!” you screamed.
“And not that it should even fucking matter, but how did you even know I was with them?”
“I have your location- you know that” he stated as if you asked if the sky was blue.
“I know that, but how about them?”
He knew where they were because he made several alternative snapchat accounts and pretended to be someone from school who was just looking for new friends.
He spent nights pretending to be an excited freshman who was wondering where the science building was. He used remix to send your friends snaps that made it look like he was on campus or hanging out downtown with other students. And eventually he gained their trust enough for them to turn on their snap map for him so he could “make sure they were safe” if they went somewhere, since it's “dangerous for us college girls down here”.
“Intuition.”
You rolled your eyes and laughed, “No way, you probably chipped their phones or some psycho shit cause you’re fucking crazy Anakin!”
“Well if you just goddamn did what I told you we wouldn’t have to have these conversations or be in these situations” he replied dryly.
“How many fucking “rules” are there for me to follow?! Everytime I go out or do anything, you find something to nit pick! It's exhausting! I don’t even know why I’m still with you?!”
“Get in the car.” he demanded.
“You’re insane if you think-”
His whole demeanor shifted and he sighed, “baby, please… I’m sorry, let’s talk about this”.
“No, Anakin- i’m done with your bullshit” you said, heading back towards the building.
He felt his scarred eye twitch, but he needed to subdue his temper (just until he could take it out on your pretty pussy).
See, Anakin Skywalker was a master manipulator. He knew that no matter how much you fought or how insane he acted- you would always come back.
This was clockwork for him. You’d fight, he’d act vulnerable, you would fuck, and then you’d be good for a while. A perfect system. Never failed.
He called your name with a desperate plea- he had no problem acting needy if it got him to where he needed to be, plus this gave you the illusion of having power in this familiar situation.
You hesitantly turned around to meets his gaze; his beautiful blue eyes glassy with his brilliant manipulation.
“Baby, I’m sorry- I just worry about you..” he spoke softly as you subconsciously came closer.
Soon his strong arms were wrapped around your waist and his scent flooded your senses.
“You know I can't control my feelings sometimes- I just love you too much- I can’t lose you too…” he whispered into your hair.
You knew exactly what he was referring to with the “too”- his mother. He was very close with her, growing up she was all he had. A few years back she passed away and it took a big toll on your lover.
You never wanted to admit it, but you knew he used that to guilt trip you into staying or to get you to feel bad for him.
You hated him.
But you couldn’t stop…
You held him tighter and grabbed his shirt fabric, “I know Ani… I know”.
You were now crying too- You knew this was unhealthy- toxic even; but you just couldn’t quit him.
You felt his strong arms lift you up and he carried you towards his camaro; you knew what came next… He’d comfort you, fuck you, then you would act as if no argument ever happened.
A cycle you had gotten all too familiar with.
__________________________________
“F-fuck” Anakin stuttered as he slammed his cock into you; intensive sounds of your bodies colliding, ricochet off the bedroom walls.
“You feel s-so good Baby- doin’ so good for me” he praised as he thrusted in and out of your plush walls. You were lying on your back as he held one of your legs over his shoulder so he could hit even deeper.
The glorious feeling of his calloused hands along your smooth stomach made you shiver. When you first started dating Anakin he told you that he would please you so well that no other men would be able to compare.
he was right…
No man could navigate your body the way he does, read your tells like he could, no man could make you cum as well as Anakin could.
He slowed his hips for a moment making you whine at the lack of movement from his thick cock.
“Look at me baby”.
You blinked your doe eyes open, tears falling from the corners. He observed your features before his eyes softened.
“My girl, my pretty girl… always so lovely” she smiled before tenderly kissing you.
“I love you more than anything” he whispered against your plump lips.
This.
Moments like this were why you stayed: he could be kind- he was sweet- he did care.
You were about to reciprocate his statement but were cut off by his hand tightly gripping around your throat as he continued snapping his hips into yours.
You squealed with each powerful thrust- it was ok, you’d tell him later.
His swollen member was blushing red and as hard as could be. He absolutely adored having you below him, taking his dick like a champ- he remembered how proud he was when you were finally able to take all of him.
A particularly hefty thrust sent his neurons firing and he knew he was almost at his end. He sloppily bucked his hips into your pelvis as his breathing became more erratic.
“I’m gonna cum- w-where do you want it sweet girl?” he half stuttered, half moaned.
You patted your chest and gave Anakin a knowing look.
With that he was gone, his brows knitted together in ecstasy and his hips lurched forward. A string of obscenities left his mouth as he quickly slid his dick out of you to aim for your chest.
Barely one pump in, his warm seed coated your chest. You watched as his abs and thighs contracted with each wave of pleasure. Some of his damp curls stuck to his forehead, he had a sheen of sweat, and his cheeks were flushed.
What a beautiful sight.
_________________________________________
Anakin’s fingers tucked some wild strands of hair behind your ear as you slept peacefully beside him.
Last night cut it a little closer than he normally would have, but it all worked out because here you were, still with him- fast asleep in his bed.
He grabbed your phone and began to go through your messages (an unhealthy habit he picked up a few months back), his fingers immediately moved to the new notifications from your friends.
He opened the pinned group chat and read the messages from last night.
Where r u? Where’d he take u?
Are you alright?
WTF was that?!
Anakin rolled his eyes; your friends were always so dramatic. But he smiled when he saw your response.
“Guys i'm good, ani took me home and we talked things out- he’s just been really stressed out lately, it's nothing to worry about!”
You were his good girl and he’d spoil you today for your loyalty.
He continued to scroll passively until he got to the newer unread messages.
y/n, can we all please talk when you get back- we’re worried about you
Yea, anakin doesn’t seem like he has the best intentions
We hate to see you in this situation
Babe, he’s toxic- u need to dump him
“...u need to dump him”
Anakin almost threw the phone across the room- no way these bitches were telling you to dump him?!
He was the only one who took care of you, he was the only one who knew what was best for you- who did these girls think they were?!
Before he could stop himself he took out his own phone and copied all of their numbers down so he could send several nasty message to the girls basically telling them to back the fuck off and being unnecessarily hateful.
After he blocked their numbers, he decided it was time for a shower, so he left you with a kiss and headed to the bathroom.
The emptiness of the bed made you wake. For a moment, you began to search for Anakin but the shower in the other room indicated where he was.
You smiled and cuddled further into his sheets. The warmth of the blankets began to pull you back into slumber but your phone interrupted the notion.
It was one of the girls you had gotten dinner with last night, what would she be calling this early for?
“Hello?”
y/n, I’m sorry but you need to come back now, I don’t think it's the best idea for you to be with anakin-
“Wait, slow down… why?”
She sent you screenshots of the messages he sent and you almost dropped your phone.
“What the fuck?! Anakin sent this?”
Yes, this morning- I really think you should get out of that relationship y/n- I’ve been telling you this! He’s trying to make you dependent on only him- it's not healthy!
You took a moment to regain your thoughts and quickly said a goodbye when you heard the water stop running.
Why would he be so cruel? You knew he had his issues but he’d never been so explicitly viscous before. Maybe your friends were right, you had been manipulated so much that you were defending his toxic behavior. This had to stop.
You knew you wouldn’t be able to face him for long (he would just pull you back in). So you quickly began to gather your things so that it would be easier to leave after you talked with him.
You almost had everything packed when the doorknob turned to reveal a fresh Anakin; his hair was still damp from the shower and his skin had a glistening shine from the residual steam. He had such a big smile… you hated this, but it needed to be done.
“What’s going on princess?” he frowned when he saw your bag was already packed.
“Anakin… I have to go” you said hurriedly.
He moved in front of you and held up a hand, “Woah, can we talk about what’s going on? Why are you leaving in such a hurry?” he asked (genuinely worried).
With a sigh, you looked him in the eye, “Anakin- we can’t keep doing this- we aren’t good for eachother”.
He felt his chest tighten.
“Was it your friends? Did they put those thoughts in your head?! I told you they weren’t-”
“Anakin! Please, enough! I saw what you said to them- Why the fuck would you say that? You’re not acting like the man I fell in love with… You’ve changed so much” you said with watery eyes.
For a moment he looked as if he were going to punch something but eventually he let out a breath and defeatedly stood to the side. Your words seemed to really hit him.
“Angel, I do what I do because I love you- you know that. I know I’m messed up- but I’ve been working on it, Truly” he promised.
Tears fell as you shook your head, “I know Ani, but it's not fair to me- I can’t keep doing this! We always end up fighting and you always get upset”
“I DON'T!” Anakin unintentionally shouted, making you shrink away from him.
“This is what I'm talking about Ani, I don’t wanna do this- no, i’m not doing this anymore. I’m leaving” you said, grabbing your things and heading for the door.
He called your name but you ignored him, you almost got to his front door when he grabbed your upper arm.
“Let go!” you shouted, snatching your arm from his hold.
“Please, just leave me alone” you cried as you walked out of the house and headed for the uber you sneakily called while he was still in the shower.
As the uber drove away, you saw a confused and hurt Anakin standing in his driveway.
You put your head in your hands and cried…
It needed to be done.
It had to.
_________________________________________
A few months later
The early autumn air nipped at your skin as you haistilly exited the rowdy club. You shivered and crossed your arms after checking the time.
10:34 pm
You had only gotten to the damn club 30 minutes ago and you already wanted to leave. You and some friends had gone out to reward yourselves for a hard week (and to hopefully get your mind off of your ex).
Some guy in the club had gotten a little too handsy fior your comfort- he attempted to put his hand up your dress and grope your breasts while you were just leaning over the bar to order another drink. You slapped him across the face and made your way outside to get some air.
You wanted to leave; as you stood by the curb you felt the familiar sting of tears pricking at your eyes.
Fuck.
The sensation of alcohol warmed your tummy and clouded your thoughts. Warm, strong hands protecting you from any other man who dared to look at you. Fierce blue eyes warding off any unwanted attention-
No.
You physically shook your head and opened your phone to distract yourself. There was no fucking way you were thinking about him right now. You scrolled to your uber app and looked up rates for a ride back to your apartment.
$40, $35, $47, $32, $43
The rates were through the roof, no way you were going to pay that just to get a few blocks home.
Almost instinctively, your hands moved so that your thumb was shivering over Anakin’s number.
What were you doing?!
You were about to swipe off when you realized: you weren’t willing to take an expensive uber, but you also didn’t want to walk that far in heels and at night. Maybe you should call him… at least you know him and he does owe you a favor anyways.
Fuck it.
You unblock and dial his number.
Ring…
Ring…….
Ring………..
Voicemail.
You groaned. You knew very well what he was doing- he was making you call several times so that you would look desperate. He loved doing that shit. You dialed again.
Ring…
 Rin-
“Hey sweet thing, finally came to your senses?” he said, smugness dripping off his every word.
“Anakin- please come pick me up” you sniffed.
“And why would I do that? Why would I do you a favor after you’ve been such a bra-”
“Ani- someone tried to touch me- I wanna go home” you cried.
The other end of the phone went silent. Anakin’s eye began to twitch and his grip on the phone tightened.
“Where?” he gritted out.
“What? I’m on fourth street, over by the old mill-”
“Where did he touch you?” he interrupted.
You took a breath- maybe you shouldn’t have called Anakin, you knew he was going to cause a scene- but at the same time a dark part of you wanted him to become violent with his passion for you.
“He put his hand up my skirt and started groping my breas-”
“I’m on my way” is all he said before finally adding-
“That fucker is dead.”
You breathed a sigh of relief, Ani was coming.
___________
Anakin’s knuckles were a fiery red as he dealt several blows to the man who had dared to touch his girl. His vision clouded by rage and hatred; how dare someone try to touch what was his.
Sure, you were broken up (or so you thought); but anakin saw it as just a small break- You were getting back together- he knew it.
All he was waiting on was your call.
Once he was satisfied, he stood up and shook the blood off of his hand. He looked over his work; the man’s face wa bloodied and his lip was cracked (there was also possibly a tooth missing but Anakin didn’t really give a  fuck).
He leaned over and spat, “Don’t ever touch someone who isn’t yours again”.
He made his way through the crowd of stunned onlookers who all began to back away from him as he headed towards the bathroom. Once he got there, everyone stepped out and allowed him to walk in with no hesitation (They didn’t want to get on his bad side in any shape or form).
He leaned on the sink and examined the cut on his cheekbone.
Whatever.
He turned on the faucet and washed the blood from his hands; no need for his beautiful girl to see the blood of a fucking perv.
He dried his hands and exited the building to collect you from outside the building.
You stood there, arms crossed, his jacket draped over your shoulders: his Angel.
“Hey, sweetheart” he called in a soft voice as he put his arm around you.
You looked at him with big eyes.
“Are you alright?” He kissed your forehead.
You nodded and hugged him closer to you.
“It's all taken care of, let's get you home”
______
“I knew you’d come back” he broke the silence in the car (well, the radio was on- but you hadn’t spoken since he left the club).
“Anakin, can we please not talk about this right now? '' you said quietly.
He glanced at you and put a tender hand on your thigh.
“Angel, these past few weeks without you have been hell… I’m sorry for how I acted- I love you”.
You knew this was just another way he was trying to manipulate you- he definitely don’t attempt to better himself, but you couldn’t help but indulge him- after all… you missed him too. You placed one of your hands on top of his and met his eye.
“Ani- will you take me to your’s?” you asked shyly, as if you hadn’t spent countless nights in his bed.
He smiled and rubbed his hand along your leg, “Of course darling”.
“Maybe I can help relieve some of your stress too,” he added with a deeper tone.
You mentally sighed- of course he wanted that; but you also wouldn’t mind having him near you again, so you politely nodded with a smile.
He squeezed your thigh, “That’s my girl, I knew you couldn’t quit me that easy”
You turned your head to look out the window at the bright city once more… He was right- you just couldn’t quit him.
***
Once again anakin is completely fucked up in this fic- pls dont romantiscice this behavior in real life... other than that- I hope you enjoyed the fic lmfaooo. I haven't really written ani as an actually problamatic character before, its mostly just like rude or grumpy ani lmfao. but ty for stopping by!!

It took the better part of a year, but I've finally figured out where to go with Joyride. A lot of people have been asking for this, so I hope it lives up to your expectations.
Joyride (Part 2)
Part 1
Yandere Ace x GN Isekai Reader
4.8k words
Warning! This contains pretty much every Ace related spoiler btw!
When going into a world you already know everything about, you don’t exactly expect to be surprised by anything. Sure, there will be slight changes and alternate interactions now that you’ve been unceremoniously dropped in, but you had been anticipating for the story to follow all the same beats.
Which is why you were really thrown off when Ace didn’t go his separate way when he was supposed to.
Luffy had succeeded in defeating Crocodile and stopping his plan for dictatorship of Alabasta, but Ace was still here. Granted, having Ace around was hardly the worst thing that could happen, but you didn’t understand what was going on with him.
After your downright bizarre interaction during the little joyride he took you on, you’d honestly had every intention of avoiding him going forward. Then he threw a curveball at you by sincerely apologizing later that night. With everything going on right now he just got a little carried away, that’s all, he won’t harass you about it again. Or so he claimed.
You were skeptical initially, but true to his word, he hasn’t brought up you joining the Whitebeard Pirates since. Between that, and him having an unknown advantage over you by being a favorite character of yours, it was easy to find it within yourself to forgive him. You two have been borderline inseparable since, much to the chagrin of your crewmates.
While Ace hadn’t openly made further attempts to convince you to join his pops’ crew, he’d found a thinly veiled loophole in the form of telling you all kinds of stories about them. You knew this was in and of itself, a method to win you over, but deemed it not worth calling out. Besides, who were you to refuse the opportunity to get some Whitebeard Pirates lore?
There were many late nights filled with quiet conversations about various shenanigans the crew got up to in their free time, of which there were many. An unsurprising fact because of course having that many sibling jam packed onto a ship would turn it into a vessel of chaos.
If you had a weaker resolve, these stories might have won you over. But no, you need to go home.
Even though you weren’t convinced on switching crews, or even just staying here, there was a different problem arising from all your quality time together.
The longer you spoke and goofed around with him, the deeper and more intricate the conversations became, the more human he became to you. Or course, he’d technically always been a human being, but your mind had always registered him (as well as everyone else here) as a “character” first and foremost. A figure in a fictional story which you just so happened to be in temporarily.
Now? After spending so much time with him, aftering seeing him make decisions based off his own experiences and preferences rather than being dictated by some omnipotent author, things have changed. He wasn’t Portgas D. Ace, the fan favorite character from One Piece. He was just Ace, your friend.
With this came something you never saw coming. Guilt. An all consuming, agonizing guilt that picked away at you every single second of the day.
You knew what was to come. You knew what was going to happen to him. What were you doing about it? Absolutely nothing. And for what? For the sake of preserving a story that’s already been altered from your mere presence?
What a disgusting excuse of a friend you were.
The internal conflict you were going through hadn’t gone unnoticed, not when it was taking such a high toll on you. Nami was the first to start grilling you on it. Naturally, she immediately started pointing fingers at Ace as being the cause, which while not wrong, she wasn’t correct in the way she believed herself to be either. It was hardly his fault that you had a heavy conscience.
Sanji had also picked up on your struggles and was very concerned about the bags under your eyes, even offering to make some tea to assist with sleeping. An offer you turned down perhaps more harshly than truly necessary, but being trapped in a deeper sleep sounded awful with the nightmares you’ve been having.
It had been upsetting enough to watch Ace die through a screen, but in your dreams you were right there. It felt so real.
A suffocating heat burned at your skin and seared your lungs with every panicked breath, which only became more frantic as hot blood splattered over your face. Life was rapidly draining from Ace’s eyes as he collapsed into the waiting arms of his now deeply traumatized brother.
Your feet were rooted to the ground, all you could do was stare in horror as he looked up at you with tearful, pleading eyes. “Why?” The word was more so coughed out than spoken, spraying out more blood that he couldn’t afford to lose. An arm extended towards you, the hand locking onto your own. His nails dug into your skin, drawing out blood of your own to mix with his into a revolting cocktail. “You could have stopped this. How could you do this to me?”
The last word was wheezed out and his body went limp as his dead, lifeless eyes stared through you. A soul wrenching scream tore its way out of Luffy’s throat, only to morph into your own as you were mercifully ripped from your slumber.
The screaming damn near gave Ace a heart attack, you’re sure of it. This nightmare had occurred after you and him had become separated from the rest of the group while traversing the desert, and you had found a compact cave for the two of you to pass the night in.
What made it worse was how he reacted. He was so concerned, even fretting over you as you desperately tried to get your breathing under control. The compassion in his eyes had done nothing to comfort you, it only served to further sicken you. Here he was wanting to save you from something as trivial as a nightmare, yet you couldn’t be bothered to speak up on and prevent his upcoming demise.
The guilt was killing you, and the solution was not only clear, but easy. So why couldn’t you bring yourself to just tell him? To plead and beg for him to give up the chase and not throw his life away. Yet your lips remained sealed.
All of these elements came to a boil and demanded your attention, so you did what seemed to be the easiest thing to do in your situation. Drink it away.
Now that Luffy had awoken from his brief coma after fighting Crocodile, Alubarna Palace was hosting a lavish party in celebration and thanks for what everyone had done. And what high end party would be complete without absurd amounts of alcohol?
It started with one, purely to help ease your nerves. However, when it didn’t, you poured yourself another. And then a few more. Zoro had initially been thrilled to have you as a drinking buddy, but apparently even he had his limits and had cut you off.
“The hell’s gotten into you? You’re drinking like you’re trying to run from demons,” the bottle of expensive liquor had been moved out of reach when you tried to go for it again.
“You have no idea,” you slurred out, head spinning from your evening of poor decision making.
Zoro shot you a questioning look, but didn’t press it, likely knowing full well that getting a coherent conversation out of you right now would be impossible. He heaved out a sigh and stood up, “I’m going to get you some water, stay right there.”
Thoroughly defeated, you slumped back into your chair. After all that, you still couldn’t get your dilemma out of your head. Your “demons” continued gnawing at your soul, and all that your drinking had done about it was ensure that you would have a miserable hangover in the morning.
Your head lulled to the side, and you caught sight of a familiar orange hat. Speak of the devil. While you were in the throws of self inflicted misery, Ace was happily taking advantage of all the food being offered. Good for him. He deserved a nice night.
As if acting on its own, your body managed to get up onto its feet. You shambled towards him, doing your best not to fall flat on your face with each uncoordinated step. Whatever invisible force that had been helping you to make the walk to Ace failed you at the last second, and you crashed into him from behind.
“Shit! Wha- Oh, it’s just you,” Ace whirled around, visibly agitated, but his features relaxed when he realized who it was. He appeared to be ready to say more but you cut him off.
“I need to talk to you.”
Ace quirked a brow, “Yeah? What’s up?”
From the expectant look he was giving you, it’s clear that he’s waiting for you to spill your guts here and now. You shook your head, “No, it’s… It’s a secret. We have to go somewhere else.” Realization flashed across his face and he nodded. Fortunately for you, he led the way. You honestly did not think you’d be able to scout out a place for this discussion. You were finally going to come clean and tell him everything before you could sober up and come to your senses.
It was going well. At least it was, until he passed out and took you down with him. You both collided onto the floor with a resounding thud, him on top of you. The hall you’d slipped into was empty, meaning there was no one here to help you.
You groaned as you attempted to move, the fall had hit you harder than it should have thanks to the copious amounts of alcohol in your system. You were also mentally kicking yourself for not seeing this coming. He was eating when you stumbled into him, of course it was only a matter of time before this happened.
Whatever, there isn’t time to be bemoaning a minor inconvenience. You manage to shimmy out from under him and use the wall to get to your feet. Ace is snoring on the floor, not a care in the world. Hopefully he’ll wake up soon.
Taking a look around, you see a door just a couple steps away. You inch your way over to it and try the knob. It clicks open, and you peer in. Looks like some sort of guest room, and it’s empty. Perfect.
Pushing the door open fully, you turn back to Ace. He’s still asleep, but you don’t want to wait around for him to wake up on his own and run the risk of being seen. You lean down to grab the closest part of him, his right foot, and pull. You’re not sure if he’s actually heavy, or if you’re just too drunk for this, but you tip over while trying to do this and fall flat on your ass.
“Huh?” Ace’s head snapped up and he looked around owlishly. The second his eyes connected with yours, he remembered what he was doing before his narcoleptic tendencies took the wheel. He laughed, a light blush on his face, as he got to his feet, “Sorry about that, you alright?”
“I’m fine, get in here,” you urged him to hurry, which he did. In the time it took you to stand again, Ace had already slipped into the room, closed the door, and flicked on a lamp so you two wouldn’t be talking in complete darkness. You eye the door for a moment, then grab a chair and drag it over to wedge it under the doorknob. Someone walking in on the conversation you were about to have would be something of a worst case scenario.
Ace watched this curiously, “Is everything okay?”
This probably looked weird, but oh well, it’s about to get a lot weirder. You decide to sit on the bed and motion for Ace to join you, which he does. You take one of his hands in both of yours and stare at him intensely, “I need to tell you something. It’s going to sound insane, but you need to promise me you won’t tell anyone about this.”
He repeated his previous question, asking again if everything was okay, but you cut him off, “Promise me, please!”
Your desperation got through to him, “Okay, I promise! What’s going on?”
Here goes nothing. You take a deep breath and take the leap, “You need to stop going after Blackbeard.”
Ace recoiled immediately, and if you hadn’t been holding onto his hand for dear life, he probably would have backed away from you. “What? I can’t do that, why would y-”
“Let me finish!” You snapped at him, only to immediately regret it. You sighed, “Please. There’s more, please let me finish talking first, and then you can talk.”
While he did not look happy about it, he did relax his shoulders and settled back into the bed. You took this as your cue to continue, “You need to stop going after Blackbeard because you will die if you do.” Ace exhaled sharply and rolled his eyes at this, assuming that this was coming from a place of fear and doubt.
“I know this because,” you took in a shuddering breath, steeling yourself for what was to come. “I know this because in the world that I came from… This world is a story.”
Ace stares at you wide eyed and slack jawed. He laughed, but was very clearly uncomfortable, “I, uh, I think you’ve had a little too much to drink tonight. How about I take you back to your room to sleep it off, okay?”
He tried to stand, but you yanked him back down, “No! I’m not drunk! Well, I mean, I am, but I know what I’m talking about! I can prove it.”
His expression was nothing short of incredulous, but he indulged you, “Yeah, okay, sure. Go ahead, prove it.”
“You’re hunting down Blackbeard because he murdered Thatch so he could steal his devil fruit,” you started light. Ace had told you about Thatch being the one he was avenging, but he’d never mentioned the devil fruit before, likely not deeming it an important enough detail. His brows knit together and his eyes drifted upwards as he racked his brain to remember if maybe he actually had said something about it.
“Before you were with Whitebeard, you were captain of the Spade Pirates. Your first member was Masked Deuce, who you met while being stranded on an island together. It’s where you found your devil fruit and built Striker,” he hadn’t told you anything in regards to his old crew, and his face reflected that. You definitely had his attention now.
“You and Luffy were raised by mountain bandits because Garp couldn’t raise you two himself. It wasn’t just you guys, though, you had another brother named Sabo, but he was killed when he tried to set sail and got shot down,” at this point, you were saying whatever came to mind with no regard to whether or not it was a good idea to say this right now. You couldn’t bring yourself to keep looking him in the eye, so you settled for staring at his hand in yours. It was completely slack.
“Your parents are Portgas D. Rouge and Gol D. R-”
Before you could finish the sentence, Ace’s free hand clamped over your mouth with such ferocity that you almost fell off the bed. Forcing yourself to make eye contact again, you see that his are blown wide and wild. The color has been drained from his face and he looked physically ill from hearing everything you just threw at him.
An extremely tense moment passed with nothing to be heard beyond his labored breathing. Then, he hesitantly let go of your face and with a shaky voice said, “Okay. I’m sorry. I believe you. What… What’s going to happen if I keep pursuing Blackbeard?”
You attempted to swallow the lump in your throat, but it refused to go away, “When you catch up with him, you’ll fight, but lose. Your powers are no match for his, you don’t stand a chance against him. After your loss, he turns you in to the marines.
“Because of who your father is, they decide to make an example out of you and sentence you to death.”
“That bastard turns me in and I get executed?” He sounds like the wind has just been knocked out of him. Disbelief and bitterness are the two most prevalent emotions in his tone, but many others brew beneath the surface.
“Not exactly,” it’s true that he gets turned in and killed, but it’s nowhere near that simple and straightforward. “Luffy comes to your rescue at Marineford, and so does Whitebeard and a lot of his crew.”
Before you could go more into detail, Ace speaks up, “They… W-Why would they do that?”
“Why would they- You have to ask?!” Your voice raises and you have to remind yourself of just how much character development he has to go through in that arc to finally realize and accept the fact that he’s genuinely loved. “Because you’re family, their family! They care about you and don’t want to see you die!”
Your outburst shocked him, but not as much as seeing you start to cry did. His hand is abandoned and you lurch forward to bring him into a suffocatingly tight hug, “Y-You are so loved, you know that? They l-love you so much! A lot of people do! I do! We all want to see you live and be happy!” You limply hang off of him as more tears bubble to the surface, greedily taking the chance to escape with every sob as you finally let out everything you’ve been keeping in. Ace makes no move to return your embrace, he just sits there stiff as a board.
“A-And, at that battle, you’re killed by Admiral Akainu while protecting Luffy. He’s devastated by it, being forced to watch you die hurts him so bad,” you cling onto him tighter upon feeling him flinch from your words. “Whitebeard dies there too.”
“What?! How could anyone kill him? That can’t be right!” You’re wrenched off Ace violently and his stare is almost as unhinged as it was when you said his parents’ names.
“Blackbeard does it,” Ace freezes at this. “That should give you an idea of how strong he is. If he can kill Whitebeard, fighting you is nothing to him. Besides, you of all people would know how hard it is to kill him,” you chuckle but it’s humorless, empty even.
A heavy stretch of silence follows after that. Ace’s eyes don’t leave your face for even a second, desperately searching for anything that would tell him that this is all one big, sick joke. But there’s nothing of the sort.
Slowly, he releases your shoulders and he shifts away from you to rest his head in his hands. Without his support, you allow yourself to fall back onto the bed. Between all the alcohol and your emotional outburst, you’re exhausted and want nothing more than to sleep. You try to force yourself to stay awake, but it feels like an insurmountable task.
“Hey, Ace?” There’s no answer, but you continue anyway, “I’m sorry. I know that was a lot. If, um… If you don’t believe me about knowing what’s going to happen, stick around until after we set sail again. Bon Clay- Mr. 2- is going to bring the Going Merry over here so that we don’t have to backtrack. Marines will be all over the place, but he sacrifices himself so that Luffy and his crew can get away. Once they’ve lost the marines, Nico Robin will reveal herself to have been hiding on the ship and joins the crew.”
Ace continues to not react to what’s being said, you’re not even sure he’s listening to you at this point. As much as you want to comfort him, your limbs feel like lead and your head is swimming. The last thing you see is the jolly roger of the Whitebeard’s staring you down as you fade into darkness.
Consciousness comes back to you slowly. Painfully so. Before you can even make out your surroundings, you’re assaulted by the worst headache of your life. The stabbing pain behind your eyes is crippling, all you want is to retreat back to the comfort of sleep, but you know that’s not going to happen.
It doesn’t help that your mouth is so dry that you feel like you’re back in the desert. One hand comes up to gingerly massage your eyes. The action brought more discomfort than relief, but it did clear up your sight a little.
As your senses ebb back into you, you hone in on the pressure all over your body. It takes considerable effort, but you manage to lift your head enough to take a look. Your nose is less than an inch from bumping into someone else’s. Chopper’s to be exact. He was curled up into your side and using your chest as a pillow. Looking past him, Luffy was sprawled across your lap, belly up. Both of them were still asleep.
You prop yourself up on one arm. Chopper shifts, but doesn’t wake. Off to your side is a bedside table with a glass of water on it. Oh, thank God. Using the arm you aren’t propped up with, you grab it and bring the cup to your lips. The water is divine, an absolute blessing for your dry throat.
As you enjoy your drink, your eyes glance around to observe the rest of the room. It’s the one you all have been staying in since saving Alabasta. Most of your friends are in their respective beds, except for Chopper and Luffy, obviously. Zoro was also not in his bed, instead being slumped over in a chair next to your own.
Your eyes flicker over to the massive windows of the room, and you spot Ace sitting in the windowsill. From the way he’s positioned, he appears to be awake already. Your gaze narrows as you focus on him. Something tickled at the back of your mind, demanding to be remembered. But what?
“Y-You are so loved, you know that? They l-love you so much! A lot of people do! I do! We all want to see you live and be happy!”
The water going down your throat is suddenly going out of it when you choke. Memories come back and hit you like a train as you realize what exactly it is you did last night.
Naturally, this wakes up Chopper and Luffy, who are both jolted from their once peaceful sleep by you choking on your drink. Chopper immediately starts to panic, “AH! Don’t die, (Y/N)!”
It was crucial that you speak to Ace again, but it seemed like the world itself was committed to making sure that didn’t happen. Ace slipped out of the room while everyone was fussing over you, and it honestly felt like he was avoiding you now. Everytime you thought you might be able to catch him alone, either he vanishes, or someone else comes out of nowhere to drag you away.
Today was the day you all set sail from Alabasta, and while that did put you in close proximity with Ace, it also put everyone else within earshot of you two. And considering the delicate nature of what you needed to talk about, that was extremely inconvenient.
The only good thing was that the events following leaving Alabasta played out exactly how they were supposed to. Hopefully that meant that Ace would believe you and give up hunting down Blackbeard, but you won’t be able to confirm that unless you speak with him.
You were so stressed that you’d barely been able to focus on Robin being here. She “introduced” herself to you as if she hadn’t had an extremely uncomfortable run in with you in an alleyway back in Rainbase, but all you could manage was a half-assed handshake before excusing yourself.
For probably the fifteenth time today, you checked to make sure that Striker was still tied to the Merry. It was, much to your relief. But where was Ace hiding? You haven’t seen him since Robin showed herself.
The stress of trying and failing to corner him was doing nothing to help with your hangover, your head felt like it was about to explode. Did you still have Advil in the bag you got isekai’d here with? Maybe. Pushing off the railing, you march to where your room is while praying that you’re right about the painkillers.
You open the door without much thought, only to stop dead in your tracks when you catch sight of Ace rummaging through your belongings and stuffing them into his backpack. The door opening did briefly make him stop and peer over his shoulder to see who it was, but the second he saw it was you, he went right back to pillaging.
“Can I help you? Why are you robbing me?” You stomp over to where he’s crouched down and shove his shoulder.
“I’m not robbing you, I’m packing for you,” Ace mumbled, sounding lost in thought.
“Why would you be packing for me? Actually, you know what? That’s the least of my concerns right now, we need to talk about last night.”
“We’ll talk about it later, not here.” He still hasn’t properly faced you, and you were getting sick of only making eye contact with his tattoo and not him.
“Where else would we talk about it?!” You hissed.
Seeming content with his work, he stood up and kicked the dresser drawer shut, “On the Striker. Or maybe the Moby Dick, I guess. I’m going back and you’re coming with me.”
You can’t believe what you’re hearing, “Excuse me?”
“I’m going back to the Moby Dick, and you’re coming with me.” Ace had finally turned to face you. His eyes were sunken and vaguely bloodshot.
The sight catches you off guard, “Did you sleep at all last night?”
He shook his head, “No, we’re going to have to stop somewhere else to sleep before going the rest of the way back home.”
“Ace, I’m not going with you. Look, I’m happy that you’re calling off your hunt, relieved honestly, but I’m staying here.” You will ideally be figuring out how to go home sometime soon, there’s no sense in hopping around from crew to crew now.
One of his eyes twitched, and he looked exasperated, “You can’t stay here. You aren’t safe here.”
“What are you-”
“Let me finish,” the words were spoken calmly, but very firm. “I don’t think you understand how serious this is. You apparently know everything about this world and what’s going to happen in it, do you have any idea what will happen to you if word gets out about this?”
“You’re the only person I’ve told, so as long as you keep your mouth shut, I’ll be fine.”
“Until you get drunk again and tell someone else, then what?” His words were just as scathing as his gaze.
Your face flushed in shame, “That won’t happen again.”
“You don’t know that!” Ace snapped at you, then sighed and dragged a hand down his face, “This is for your own good. Nothing good will come from anyone else learning about this. If it ever got back to someone like Big Mom, she would send every single one of her children after you so she could have you on her side. And that’s the nicer option. I’m sure the marines would be more than happy to kill you off so that no one else could have you if they can’t.”
Throughout this entire conversation, his face had remained uncomfortably neutral, but now it cracked. Fondness peaked through the exhaustion as his expression softened ever so slightly. He steps forwards and brings you against him in a crushing embrace. His skin is hot to the touch, effectively chasing away any chill that you may have had.
“You said you wanted to see me live, and I want to see you live, too.” The words are hushed, you wouldn’t have been able to hear him if he hadn’t been speaking right next to your ear.
Reluctantly, he pulls himself away. His face is serious again, “We’re leaving tonight, be ready to go.”
“But-”
“If you don’t come willingly, I will make you. The only thing that you resisting will accomplish is making this messier than it needs to be. Even if you don’t like this now, you will thank me for it later.”
Ace spins on his heel and heads for the door. All you can do is stand there gawking at him as he leaves. Just before the door closes behind him, he spares a glance over his shoulder to say, “I’ll see you tonight.”

what my 65yo father has to say about antis:
let me preface this by saying, i literally wish i had what just happened on video to go viral on TikTok. i was shook by this conversation down to my bones; and if you could see my father - a loud old Italian man with dramatic hand gestures - say what he had to say, i think this shit would blow up. but as i was obviously not filming him while we were eating, i will have to relay to you the story with my words.
so i'm sitting eating dinner at the coffee table with my father while watching TV, as Americans often do instead of eating at the dinner table, and since the news was on he started telling me this story that had been recently mentioned on TV once again from maybe ten years ago (it was in 2014, you can read about it here) where these two 12-year-old girls killed one of their friends as a sacrifice to the Slender Man. yeah, real thing. fucked up.
and so my father told me about how they interviewed one of the killer's mothers, and when questioned about where her daughter's motive could've come from, she said something along the lines of: you know, when i was a kid, i was into Stephen King and horror - and so when my kid was into that kind of stuff, i didn’t think it was a big deal.
so, of course, my response was "yeah, being into that stuff isn’t a big deal at all - it's normal - but being a sociopath and murdering someone is not normal; it's fucked up. but there's nothing wrong with being into horror stories - they're just stories meant to entertain - it doesn't make you a murderer to enjoy Halloween - but it would if you put on a Michael Myers mask and went out and stabbed people." and, of course, like any sane person, my father agreed with me.
then, continuing this line of conversation, i started talking about the concept of how "fiction isn’t reality," and how a frightening amount of people don't understand that; and i literally started telling him about antis - people on the internet who attack and harass others over "problematic" or "inappropriate" fictional interests.
i used well-known pop culture examples like: if you're into Game of Thrones and like Jaime and Cersei together or wanted Jon and Daenerys to end up together (i didn't think he would process the term "shipping," but clearly by the end of this conversation i think i was wrong), that people (antis) will say things like "you should die," and that you "support inc*st in real life," and that "you're disgusting."
i also used the examples of "toxic relationships" in pop culture, like the Joker and Harley Quinn, or Kylo Ren and Rey, and how if you’re into those kinds of fictional relationships that people (antis) will say that you "support toxic relationships," and that you are "glorifying abuse," and that it all "must be what you really want and believe is right or good."
and my fucking 65-year-old father literally goes: "I don’t understand. It’s a TV show. Don't they know it’s fake?"
queue my jaw dropping to the fucking ground because i'm like. YES. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT PRO-SHIPPERS ARE TRYING TO SAY AND THESE PEOPLE DON'T GET IT.
he was flabbergasted, my pals. the shock in his eyes was incredible to behold.
and, oh boy, that isn't even the best part, guys.
my father then says, "Don’t tell me it’s like that with anime too?"
and i said, "it's worse with anime."
and i fucking swear to you - no joke, on my life and baby Jesus' cradle - again my 65-year-old father looks at me and says, “It’s a fucken cartoon."
... ... ...
... i can't ...
i can't end this post better than that.

I know I’ve been ranting a lot about antis, but it’s just because the way they’ve taken to voicing their dislike of Zutara bothers me. So, bear with me.
There was this woman on TikTok that I used to follow and who made a lot of ATLA analysis. And she was a Zutara shipper who would speak on some of the themes that led her to be a Zutara shipper. All was going fine until someone made a video attacking her for liking Zutara. They called her morally corrupt, a terrible person, and claimed she was racist for liking a fictional ship. I watched as this woman I followed then become convinced that she was those things and she swiftly took all her ATLA videos down and never talked about the show again.
Antis are bullies. I’m not sugarcoating it. They go out of their way to make people feel guilty for liking Zuko and Katara as a romantic couple. They sit on a high horse and scream at us about how we don’t understand oppression. How we must hate women of color. How we’re delusional. They accused Dante Basco, a man of color, of being a pedophile. Before I turned off my anon, I would be harassed for a long time if I had posted something talking about Zutara. I never answered them because I was too scared it would encourage more. Something that I’m not going to stand by and accept are people who don’t know me making assumptions on my morals based on fiction I enjoy. Get over yourselves, antis.

people making “hot takes” about fictional villains and/or other problematic fictional things and then going deep in details into analyzing why this fictional villain is bad and why liking them makes you a bad person in real life, or why shipping x and y together makes you a walking red flag, and then thinking they did something and that their post made such Cultural Impact will never not make me laugh because my brother in christ, they are Not Real. it’s fine if some people don’t like this thing. and it’s fine if some other people do like said thing. there’s nothing to analyze about because the entire existence of the topic you’re crying over is fictional and shouldn’t be used to determine and measure someone’s moral compass. people can be a hardcore fan of slasher movies, in which fictional characters got cut to pieces in the most brutal way, and be a total sweetheart who’s against violence in real life. also this is the same as blaming video games and horror movies for bad things that happen in the real world and, as a result, completely dismissing the actual roots of the problem by blaming it on something that’s fictional (because it’s easier to blame video games and horror movies than to discuss the real problem and its actual roots that aren’t video games or horror movies).
so your “hot take” isn’t actually a hot take but a cry for attention and validation from your fandom at best, a pathetic excuse and a means to stir drama out of nothing just so you could harass other real people over something fictional in the name of being “morally superior” at worst. the only person you’re exposing with these hot takes of yours is really just yourself. cheers!

the day you make peace with the fact that you don’t own your blorbo and there’re always going to be people who make theories / headcanons / analysis about them, or involve them in a ship, that you do not agree with, is the day you will truly enjoy being in a fandom.
no, you can’t make everybody agree with you. but you can curate your own fandom experiences by blocking / muting / not interacting with what you don’t want to see / what makes you uncomfortable / what triggers you / what you disagree with, instead of engaging in ‘calling out’ or ‘cancel culture’ — even if you believe their takes are ‘morally messed up’ — and, whether or not it’s your intention, taking part in furthering the toxicity in your own fandom.
no, people enjoying a piece of media however they want to enjoy isn’t what makes a fandom toxic. people who claim to have superior moral standards, who also attack and harass other people over a fictional movie or show or book, are what makes a fandom toxic.

Sorry for the rant and probs gonna get hate cuz ik this fandom but i had to say this
-This goes to all fandoms, not just Call of Duty-
You are responsible for the content you consume. Don’t like, Don’t read.
i’ve seen a few posts about this but
if you cannot spell or speak about rape, pedophilia or any dark or sensitive topics then maybe don’t talk about it, because purposely misspelling it proves you are not mature enough to talk about it or handle the topic, this isn’t tik tok you don’t have to sugarcoat anything. Yes i am aware these are sensitive (and horrible) subjects and can be triggering but no one is forcing you to read or talk about it.
Me, and a lot of authors, put the content warnings at the top of the fic because that’s the first thing people will see and it is your responsibility to read those warnings if you wish to read a fic, not ours. This goes with Dead Dove: Do Not Eat (DDDNE), a warning or tag used to indicate that a fanwork contains tropes or elements that may be deemed morally reprehensible without explicitly condemning the sensitive aspect. It says what it says on the tin and you still read it, that is on you, not us.
Saying an author is glorifying or promoting a topic and saying they need mental or professional help for writing/reblogging rape or abuse or sexual assault because of their or another authors writings is a stretch, people can and are into some messed up things that to some people can be triggering or disturbing and you can be 100% into something fictionally without wanting to explore it physically.
No one if forcing you to read something you do not like
Same with minors in fandoms, this is a common things and there is nothing you can do about it, yes they shouldn’t be viewing or reading certain things in the fandoms but they’ll still find a way no matter how hard to try and stop them.
Say rape, say kill, no one’s gonna to hate you, if you can’t handle dark topics in a fic, block the author it’s not hard, no one will hate you for doing that and harassing and swinging death threats to a creator because they made something you don’t like is a shitty thing to do, if you don’t want to read a certain trope or topic that’s fine, people have preferences, but trying to start a witch hunt and purity culture campaign over it is not ok. I think sometimes they don’t because they want to start hate. Tumblr had a filtering system for blocking tags and yes people find a way to get around that, just block those tags too.
Fandoms are safe spaces for people who like a certain content, yes there are bad people in fandom and areas in a fandom that are filled with disgusting people, but it is a online safe space for people to enjoy the content they like. Fandoms are not for you to try and purify because you can’t be mature enough to block an author for posting content you don’t like.

“Get your hands off of me, you shit waffle!”
The large dude manhandling you as you made your war through the packed crowd at The Hard Deck merely looked back at his friends and laughed, holding his hands up in mock surrender.
You were working your regular Friday night shift at the bar frequented by the men and women of the local Navy base, as well as any local who had a penchant for hearing their stories, or just wanting to have a good time with friends. Unfortunately that meant that sometimes more rowdy and less than savoury characters wound up within the four walls of the bar as well. What did you do when you were one of the few decent bars in town?
Penny had some pretty fair, but tough and firm rules regarding the harassment of her employees, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t happen from time to time. You had a reputation for being a little spitfire behind the bar, but hadn’t instilled the fear of God into the crowd that frequented the bar yet.
They just needed to give you time.
That night you were in charge of bussing drinks back and forth between some of the tables at the back of the bar. You would have much preferred to be behind the bar, or working the front where the likes of Jake Seresin and Natasha Trace hung out. Since the aviators were often regulars, who tipped well and treated The Hard Deck as if it were home, they were much more pleasant to deal with, and if you were forced to admit it, quite easy on the eyes.
You knew the moment you went to take the drink order from one of the tables at the back that you weren’t going to have a great time with them. They were boisterous, rude, and kept making disparaging comments about all of the women within eyesight. Penny wasn’t working that night, but it was nothing that you couldn’t handle. You had a line, and if they crossed it, you’d kick them out.
“Those guys aren’t giving you too much trouble, are they?”
You lifted your head from pouring beers to see Jake standing on the other side of the bar. He leaned his forearms against the hardwood, raising his eyebrows before cocking his head toward the back. You followed his gaze and sighed.
“Not yet,” you replied, before turning to look back at Jake. “They seem like all talk and no bite. They’ll get loud, get bored when they realize that no one is paying them any mind, then head out.”
Jake huffed before standing upright and patting the countertop of the bar. “All right. But if they start raisin’ hell you know where to find us, sweetheart.”
You were glad he turned around to return to his game of darts with Bradley Bradshaw because you knew for a fact that your blush covered not only your cheeks but your chest.
It was when you brought the group of three their second round that the biggest of them grabbed your ass when you turned around.
“Oh, we’ve got a live one!” Biggest Dude laughed to his friends after you called him a shit waffle. “C’mon little lady, just havin’ a bit of fun.”
“No dice,” you said, pressing your palms on the table and leaning over it. “If you’re gonna drink here there are rules. Hands off anyone who doesn’t want your hands on them. We’ve kicked people outta here for less.”
“You’re gonna kick us out?” the man with the backwards ballcap asked incredulously. He snorted. “You and your staff don’t look like you could handle us.”
“We have our ways,” you said, raising an eyebrow.
It was then that Biggest Dude reached over and groped at one of your breasts. You were admittedly, showing some cleavage that night, but that still didn’t give him the right. Ballcap laughed, and the other man, Patchy Beard, howled like a fucking animal. It was, quite frankly, all very disgusting, and the kind of shenanigans you expected from the bullies in some 80’s movie, and not actual real life grown men.
“`the fuck off me!” you shouted, hitting Biggest Dude in the face with the tray you had been carrying. It certainly wasn’t enough to inflict any sort of damage, but definitely enough to piss someone off.
“Hey!” Biggest Dude yelled, the people around you beginning to quiet and watch what was transpiring. He stood quickly, moving away from the table toward you.
“What?” you asked, a smirk playing upon your lips. “You can touch me but I can’t touch you? Hardly seems fair.”
You were nothing if not a provoking little shit, and were well aware that you were likely to end the night with a black eye before the police were inevitably called.
“Different between good touch and bad touch, little lady,” Biggest Dude said, grabbing at your wrist. “Maybe I oughta teach you?”
“Ew,” you said, voice dripping with disgust.
“Fuckin’ bitch.”
He slapped you. Not hard, but hard enough to shock you and have you turn your head to the side, and to have the people around gasping. It took you a moment to register what had happened, and when you did you could hear little else but the jukebox on the other side of the bar, and a series of rapid footfalls headed in your direction.
Through the haze of adrenaline you spotted Jake, who pushed his way through the last bit of the crowd who hadn’t already parted for him. It happened more quickly than Biggest Dude slapping you. Jake grabbed his shoulder and shoved him against the wall, nostrils flaring.
“Your mama must’ve not raised you right if you’re gonna put your hands on a lady like that,” Jake sneered. “Get the fuck out.”
“Who’s gonna make me?” Biggest Dude asked, looking at his friends and laughing a little.
“You’re lookin’ at him.”
“Jake -” you began, gingerly touching your face.
“I got it, sweetheart,” he said, and the way that “sweetheart” drifted past his lips sounded a lot different than it had moments before at the bar.
“I just - no fighting in the bar,” you said. “Penny’ll have you paying everyone’s tabs for the next ten years.”
“Outside?” Patchy Beard suggested, standing up from his chair.
“Yeah, outside is good,” Jake agreed, nodding his head, giving Biggest Dude a shove toward the back exit.
“Jake,” you began, walking up to him and grabbing his arm, a bold move for you. “You do not have to fight this loser to … defend my honour or some shit. C’mon.”
Jake looked at you, fury blazing in his eyes, and you realized there was no way in talking him down from his desire to kick Biggest Dude’s ass.
“It’s nothing,” he assured you.
---
Biggest Dude and Jake were already fighting by the time you got out to the parking lot, having gone to grab Bradey, Natasha, and Javy. A small crowd had assembled around them, including Ballcap and Patchy Beard.
“Oh man,” Bradley said, exasperated. “He’s gonna get his ass busted down to Private if Mav finds out.”
The four of you quickly made your way toward the fight, and you were the first to reach the crowd, just in time to see Biggest Dude punch Jake right in the stomach.
“Hey!” you hollered, pushing through the small crowd of people and walking right up to Jake and Biggest Dude. “Enough! You’re both being idiots!”
“Fuck off, little lady,” Biggest Dude snarled, turning his attention toward you.
He was distracted long enough for Jake to get a couple of punches in, and you moved back lest you get more involved than you wanted to. The people around you hooted and hollered, while Bradley and Javy tried to pull Jake away.
“You lay a hand on her again and I will break your fuckin’ face,” Jake spat, pure vitriol oozing from his lips.
It was violent, but it was also incredibly hot. It probably shouldn’t have been.
Biggest Dude’s friends got the memo that they should probably get involved, each of them moving toward either Bradley or Javy to distract them, which meant Jake was free to land some more punches if he so chose.
“Jake. C’mon,” you said once more, moving to stand in front of him. He was sweating, breathing hard, and had murder in his eyes and fists at the ready. You laid your hands against his heaving chest, shirt damp with perspiration. “You don’t need to do this. I’m not some fair maiden who needs a white knight. These guys are losers anyway. Just … let’s all go back into the bar. The rest of your drinks are on me tonight.”
For the briefest moment Jake met your eyes, the anger melting away. You smiled warmly at him in an attempt to get him to come down from his rage. It only lasted a moment though before Jake shouted and punished you aside.
You stumbled to the side just as Biggest Dude had lurched forward to the two of you. He grabbed at the collar of Jake’s t-shirt, and though Jake was at the ready, Biggest Dude landed a couple of punches to Jake’s face. You could hear the crunch of bone and thought you might be ill.
Biggest Dude had Jake pinned to the hood of someone’s car, fist pulled back to lay another punch into him. Bradley, who had laid Patchy Beard out on the ground, grabbed Biggest Dude’s arm and pulled him back, away from Jake.
“Enough!” he hollered.
You weren’t paying attention to Bradley, or what else was going on around you - your attention was focused purely on Jake. Rushing over to him, he was still laid out on the hood of the car, panting hard and coughing, attempting to get his bearings after what had just transpired.
“Jake,” you whispered, laying a gentle hand on his shoulder and assessing his injuries. “Shit,” you muttered under your breath.
“I lost,” Jake muttered, looking up at the stars that filled the night sky.
“No, you didn’t,” you assured him, gingerly helping him to stand upright. “That piece of shit fought dirty. By all rights, you won.”
Bradley was a commanding force, and while you couldn’t make out what he was saying, the fight seemed to be over. Your attention was focused on Jake, and only Jake.
“C’mon. Let’s get you fixed up.”
---
It was business as usual back in The Hard Deck. Bradley and Javy had sent the Terrible Threesome packing to lick their wounds and the crowd had dispersed. The other bartenders and staff were taking care of the bar while you sat with Jake in the storage room, where the first aid kit was. Natasha had poked her head in to give you both an update on what happened outside and to let you know things had mostly returned back to normal inside.
“Thanks, Trace,” Jake had said, as Natasha had closed the door and left.
You and Jake were sitting facing one another in two folding chairs, the first aid kit sitting open on a case of beer. Tending gently to the cuts and scrapes on Jake’s knuckles, you pursed your lips as you ruminated over what to say.
“You really didn’t have to do all that,” you murmured. “We could’ve just kicked the three of them out.”
“Something tells me they wouldn’t have gone without a fight then either,” Jake said with a large sniff. His nose and mouth were still bloody, and he didn’t seem to be in a rush to tend to either before you got there.
You lifted your gaze from his knuckles to his face. “Is it broken?” you asked.
“Nah,” Jake replied, shaking his head. “Just a bone bruise. Fuckin’ hurts though.” Nodding, you turned your attention back to Jake’s knuckles, holding his hand gently. “Hey.” You glanced up again to find concern in his green eyes. “He socked you too. How’re you?”
“I’m fine,” you replied, swallowing a little harder than you probably would have if anyone else other than Jake Seresin was looking at you like that. Jake pulled his hand from yours, reaching out and touching your face gently. You hissed a little, and bit at your bottom lip. “Okay, maybe a little less good than fine.”
“He was a big dude,” Jake said, smiling fondly at you. You hadn’t realized you had tilted your head toward his touch until Jake’s thumb was sweeping gently over your cheek. “You held your own. You’re a helluva girl.”
“You’re gonna make me blush, Seresin,” you said, laughing nervously. “Thank you, by the way. For standing up for me. You really didn’t have to.”
“Oh, but I wanted to, darlin’,” he said, scooting a little closer to you, the legs of his chair scraping against the floor.
Oh shit.
“Jake,” you murmured as he leaned in, lips sweeping gently over yours.
You should’ve cared that he was hurt, you should’ve cared that his mouth was still bloody, but you didn’t. A ragged sigh escaped you and you kissed him a little harder.
Jake hissed.
“Oh!” you said, reaching up to cover your mouth as Jake pulled away. “Sorry, sorry!”
“S’okay,” Jake said, smiling and cautiously touching his lips. “Just … maybe let’s not kiss again until my lip isn’t so split?”
You smiled, nodding your head. “Yeah, okay. I think I can do that.” You reached out for his hand again, not having finished cleaning up his knuckles. “Holding hands is nice too.”
Jake laughed. “Yeah. Holding hands is nice.”
/end.
