The "if you don't want to get harassed, don't post your weird shit online" take has to be among the ones I hate the most. You're telling me I have to post "normal" stuff (whatever that means) or else the harassment is justified? That the one in the right is the person sending threats? That I can't even have a space for myself online? For fuck's sake.

Ao3 authors, please learn to not insult people and be “morally superior” in the tags
Instead of tagging “noncon is gross” or “not noncon because that’s problematic”, for example, just put “enthusiastic consent” or “consensual sex” in the tags. It makes things a whole lot easier for people to filter and know what’s going on.
I really don’t care that you think noncon fics are bad or whatever, I (and many others) will be more likely to read your fic about two boys who are deeply in love if you aren’t an ass about your morals in fiction :/

I've seen a surge of antis calling themselves punk/alt, and I just wanna make this clear:
Book-burning conservatives are not punk, sorry... :/

I really don't get the, "But a kid could see this and think it's okay!" Because it comes with so many infuriating assumptions.
Why is a kid looking at something that explicitly isn't for them? Why is the creator of said content responsible for that when they properly tagged it and told minors to not interact? Why is someone who's making content not meant for minors responsible for teaching minors that incest and grooming are bad, when that's something a kid should've been taught already?
I'd argue there's a lot more fucked up and traumatizing stuff on the internet than someone's "weird" or "problematic" ship art.

Do y'all remember when this was a normal thing to see all over the place? Because I do. I remember seeing and posting this image everywhere when I was like 12-15.

Saw a post of an anti saying that they are leaving AO3, as they are too uncomfortable to post their fics there now. The reason? They found out one of their long time readers was a proshipper, despite their fics having proship dni. And how "that includes silent readers too, I don't want you all looking at my content."
My brother in christ, you are posting on the fiction freedom site. The proshipping site. Dnis aren't god damn restraining orders. They are one tool in helping you display your boundaries. It's still on you to enforce your boundaries. You post something publicly, you forfeit your ability to regulate who can view your work. If you're obsessive enough, you can regulate who actually interacts with your work by stalking each person in the kudos list, comments, or bookmarks and then blocking snyone you don't like, but you do not get a say on who may silently read your posts. Not unless you private your work and only show it to specific people.
And if you don’t want proshippers to interact, get off the profic site.

some of you really aren’t gonna like this, but a creator’s wishes should never dictate what fan content is produced for a piece of media.
in the past, authors like anne rice have tried to limit the production of fanfiction. but at least rice was honest - she thought this infringed on her copywrite. back in the day, this was considered a valid argument to not create any fanfiction at all for her works.
do you understand what i’m saying? while you may sound valiant for placing a creator’s “discomfort” above the fan’s natural proclivities in fandom, really you’re just continuing to advocate for censorship in fan spaces.
and for anyone who is a creator, or who wants to become one - get comfortable with the rules of the internet. there will be erotic content made of your characters, there will be weird AUs made with your characters. there will be strange pairings and headcanons, no matter if you interact religiously with the fans or not. you cannot stop people from connecting with and wanting to be creative with your characters.

I miss when I was younger and I could say to my friends at school "omg I love sebaciel and the hitachin twins are so cute" and NO ONE WOULD BAT AN EYE. If someone tried to just say that openly now they'd get accused of being a pedophile or condoning abuse or some weird shit like that. Please take me back to 2016 I miss it so much I miss when people felt free and were able to enjoy fiction the way they wanted without having to live in fear if being harassed.

“Your fantasies equal your real life desires”
I’m fucking asexual? I have no desire to do anything I fantasize about irl. Same with a shit ton of other people who are aspec?
Tbh, I think it’s just queerphobic, specifically aphobic but other shit too, to say “your fantasies are what you want irl.
It’s not just aspecs either. I know a fuck ton of lesbians who fantasize about fictional men. They are not any less lesbians because of their fantasies though.
I could go on with more about how it’s a stupid argument, and even how it’s ableist in certain contexts, but I’ll save that for other posts lmao

I hate when people refer to antis as "normies" because it's not normal to tell people to off themselves over fiction

Reminder that it's okay to headcanon whatever sexuality, gender, or romantic attraction for any character. Yes, even if it goes against canon.
It's fine to headcanon them as gay, bi, pan, trans, non binary, ace, aro, aplatonic, and even straight or cis. Literally whatever you want.
There is no "right way" to ship a character. People who don't ship something the same way it's portrayed in canon aren't "tarnishing representation": canon isn't going anywhere and a couple fics won't change it. This is not even mentioning how the shippers themselves could be part of the demographic the character represents, but even so it's not important.
It's fucking stupid to treat shipping as activism. Harassing actual human beings over your blorbo isn't doing shit for representation. How privileged do you have to be to think that a ship is an actual fucking problem? And how entitled are you not to realize that people don't own you an explanation?
Stop treating fiction as an indication of someone's beliefs and/or morals, and start looking at how they behave around real people for once.
Get the fuck over yourself and learn to block what you dislike like everyone else.

I love you proshippers who don't ship anything toxic or dark
I love you proshippers who don't ship anything at all
I love you proshippers who are uncomfortable with toxic and dark ships
I love you proshippers who just aren't interested in those kinds of ships
I love you all so much
