Selfshipping has no rules! That means you can...
Tumblr media
🍄 Have any type of relationship or dynamic with your F/Os! Having your F/Os be related to your S/Is, be sweet, abusive, obsessed, victimized, anything you wish is valid and wonderful to experience!
🧡 F/O any character(s) you'd like! Main characters, side characters, background characters, characters from advertisements, memes, plushies, any fictional being that compels your heart!
🍄 Write, draw and create anything you'd like! It doesn't matter if the source material doesn't match your creations, all that's important is that you're contributing to your fandoms and having fun!!
🧡 Change your F/O's characteristics however you'd like! Project your own characteristics onto them, change their age, play around with their labels and identity, put them in any situations your mind can come up with! Your entertainment and enjoyment are your F/O's main priority!
🍄 Acknowledge or ignore canon as you please! Bring your F/O back from the dead, make it so they never met certain characters, insert yourself into their main storyline! Craft your story and love to fit all of your favorite tropes!!
🧡 Selfship for your own enjoyment! You don't need to understand or know everything about your F/O's source or even interact with it at all! You don't need to own merch or spend money on your F/O for your relationship to be valid, they love you no matter what!!
🍄 You can do anything you'd like when it comes to fiction! If it makes you happy and no real people are getting harmed because of it, do whatever you want!!

Ashley breaking-down when they were younger and begging Andrew, "Please don't leave me!" To which Andrew had to comfort her, leading to the first time that they ever kissed each other ❤️

Hi! (Anon cuz kinda worried about being looked at weird, but I’m curious!!!)
I’ve just found your account, happy birthday btw!
So, i used to a hardcore anti (harrassing proshippers, reporting them, ect…) but now that i’m actually listening to proshippers, why they ship these things, their stance, the fact therapists actually think it’s valid. i don’t think i’d call myself an anti anymore
In fact i’m kinda curious if i would be called a proshipper myself since i do enjoy certain types of ships, I’ve always enjoyed toxicity in fiction, maybe because Ive experienced that myself.
I’ve taken comfort Toxic dynamics and fictional violence, i don’t think it’s wrong to like if it’s fiction. But i do dislike incest or pedo ships, what does that make me?
That still makes you a proshipper by definition, though whether you choose to use the label or not is completely up to you.
All proshipping is is pretty much accepting the mentality of 'ship and let ship', and minding your business when it comes to what others do fictionally. Being a proshipper doesn't mean you're not allowed squicks, and in fact, you can be personally adverse to ALL 'problematic' content while still being proship, so long as you simply move on when you encounter fictional content you don't agree with / get squicked out by.
I carry that proship title proud, but I'll nope out of most any lolishota or human/animal fic 🤣 it's just not my cup of tea, and that's completely okay.

there is no "secret third thing". either you harass people over fiction (anti) or you don't (proship). that's it.

👉 There's nothing wrong with enjoying any type of fiction for kink or self-pleasuring reasons.
👉 There's nothing wrong in writing or drawing media blatantly portraying sexuality.
👉 Creating art simply for kink or self-pleasure doesn't make the fiction any less valid or "less off".
👉 You don't need to constantly pair kink with other more "refined themes" to make it "acceptable" in your writing/drawing.
👉 "PWP", aka "Porn Without Plot" or "Plot? What Plot?", is still just as valid as other types of writing.
👉 To think that only "safe" and "unproblematic" kinks are allowed to be written or drawn is extremely kink negative and conservative.
👉 Taboo kinks and paraphilias should have the right to be explored in fiction the same way that "non-problematic" kinks are. Yes, even if it's only for self-pleasure.
👉 There's nothing wrong in posting writings or drawings containing nothing but kink on the Internet. You don't need to keep it to yourself. If it's tagged, there should be no issue if people want to avoid it.

Another reminder that fanfiction is not big enough to do actual damage to the real world, and the only damage it's doing to you is disgust. So click off it if you don't like it.

I think one of the biggest things about being proship is just. Not. Fucking caring about things
Like oh my god nobody talks about how FREEING it feels! Like holy shit! I really DONT have to spend all my time obsessing over what other people do all the time! I DONT have to give a shit if I don’t want to! I have so much more time to myself now! Do you know how awesome that is? To be able to not care?

Recently, I've been seeing an influx of antis who believe that problematic/taboo content is bad because it's all "shock value" or "fetish content."
I need to remind everyone that art does not have to have deeper meaning to bring you joy.
So what if what you mostly read is omegaverse smut? So what if you enjoy art of your taboo ships doing things that aren't directly sending a message? So what if the thing you enjoy is seen as "meaningless" because it does not outright criticise something in it?
When we say that we should be allowed to explore dark fiction, we don't just mean content that dictates a certain moral ideal— we mean every single piece of fiction, "icky" or not!
Because— guess what happens when we ban these "gross," "meaningless" artworks? We'll end up arguing over what is "meaningful" enough, and then everything becomes restrictive! This is no slippery slope fallacy. This is a pattern every attempt at censorship in history has followed.
To support "gross" fiction is to support dark fiction, and to support dark fiction is to support our collective freedom to fiction.
Keep reading what makes you smile 💜💜

I love you proshippers who don't ship anything toxic or dark
I love you proshippers who don't ship anything at all
I love you proshippers who are uncomfortable with toxic and dark ships
I love you proshippers who just aren't interested in those kinds of ships
I love you all so much

Antis: "How is writing about murder/gore and pedophilia/incest the same!? Drawing gore is way different!!"
They're both crimes.
That's how they're the same.
They both will send you to jail irl. Both murder and pedophilia will send you to jail. That's how they're the same.
That's why writing/drawing murder and torture is in the same boat as pedophilia. They're just two different forms of horror. If drawing torture doesn't mean you want to actually torture someone then drawing incest doesn't mean you actually want to have sex with your siblings.
Because they are the same.

Call me a bad person all you want, but I'd rather write a thousand parent-child noncon shipfics than so much as consider telling a single, very real life person to harm themselves or others in any way, shape, or form.
Real life violence is gross. Guess I'm just fucked up that way, sorry lads.

Honestly?
Id rather be friends with people who call themselves faggots or queers and have fucked up kinks (as long as they keep them between consenting adults in real life) than the people who try to sanitize and make everything palatable to normal people
Because nine times out of ten they are infinitely better people irl than some random puritan ass person on here. and they will care about you more than anyone else.
So here's to you my fellow faggots, my freaks, my perverts, my degenerates, and all my fellows who dont fit in with the "Acceptable" and "sanitized" people who may as well be conservatives.
never stop being degenerates and keep waving that freak flag high.

"You have to be mindful when it comes to your art and who could potentially consume it!"
I can't control who sees my art. That's a fact. By putting it out on the Internet millions of people could see it and there's no way I could control anyone's reaction to it, let alone be able to stop them from viewing it. If you think that is precisely why people should be mindful, let me ask you this: why should an artist (or author) limit and censor themselves on account of a potential and imaginary "bad audience"? I'm sure that no matter the subject of the art, whether wholesome or problematic, it will eventually be viewed by people I disagree with.
Regardless, why should I let the paranoia of something that can't be controlled dictate what I create? If you're gonna walk on eggshells around your own creative process in fear of something that is ultimately impossible to avoid, you're fighting a losing battle. Stop focusing on things out of your control and policing yourself, and try instead to moderate your own personal space. Blocking accounts is the first thing to do and you can even filter tags if you want to, but never, under no circumstance, kill your art for anyone.

You are allowed to block people for being mildly irritating
You are allowed to block people for being bigoted
You are allowed to block people for not agreeing with you
You are allowed to block people because you don't enjoy their content
You are allowed to block people because someone you know blocked them
You are allowed to block people
