“This ship propagates abuse so I'll harass you until you stop shipping it!”
1. No, I will not stop shipping it.
2. Even if I did, abuse would still exist. Just look at what antis do despite them consuming only the "right" media.
3. Fuck you and your hypocritical ass. Incredible how antis are blind to their own faults to the point they don't realize that they are the ones normalizing bullying over literal fiction.
4. Your discomfort isn't my problem. If it's tagged, you can block the content out. If it isn't, then block the user. You can't expect everyone to conform to your triggers, especially if you don't respect anyone else's to begin with. Also, you are a literal stranger coming into my house. I don't know you or owe you anything. Gtfo.

CNC and rape fantasies, sadism and abusive fantasies are pretty common and are, you know, kinks. Honestly, don't bother calling yourself pro-kink if you're going to shame people for reading fiction on these topics.

“This fiction could be used to groom minors!”
I hate to break this to you but literally any type of fiction can be used to groom minors. Even “unproblematic” fiction.

I miss when I was younger and I could say to my friends at school "omg I love sebaciel and the hitachin twins are so cute" and NO ONE WOULD BAT AN EYE. If someone tried to just say that openly now they'd get accused of being a pedophile or condoning abuse or some weird shit like that. Please take me back to 2016 I miss it so much I miss when people felt free and were able to enjoy fiction the way they wanted without having to live in fear if being harassed.

Legit I think the reason why so many indie fandoms end up so fucking rancid so quickly is because you people are TERRIFIED of consuming anything on your own terms. In trying your hardest to "respect creator boundaries" you VIOLATE them by badgering them about things like ships and NSFW content which they can't control the existence of, and by constantly asking them loaded questions about what you're "allowed" to do.
Guess what? You can do literally anything you want. The bottom line is you don't involve the creator in it. Sure, yes, some creators like to be involved in their fandoms, but that's them bringing THEMSELVES into it, not the fandom thrusting itself onto them in a desperate plea for validation. Stop asking creators for validation. Stop showing them potentially triggering content to ask how they feel about it. Stop white knighting for them because you've taken it upon yourself to assert a boundary on their behalf. S T O P I T .

"You have to be mindful when it comes to your art and who could potentially consume it!"
I can't control who sees my art. That's a fact. By putting it out on the Internet millions of people could see it and there's no way I could control anyone's reaction to it, let alone be able to stop them from viewing it. If you think that is precisely why people should be mindful, let me ask you this: why should an artist (or author) limit and censor themselves on account of a potential and imaginary "bad audience"? I'm sure that no matter the subject of the art, whether wholesome or problematic, it will eventually be viewed by people I disagree with.
Regardless, why should I let the paranoia of something that can't be controlled dictate what I create? If you're gonna walk on eggshells around your own creative process in fear of something that is ultimately impossible to avoid, you're fighting a losing battle. Stop focusing on things out of your control and policing yourself, and try instead to moderate your own personal space. Blocking accounts is the first thing to do and you can even filter tags if you want to, but never, under no circumstance, kill your art for anyone.

Another big reason it's so hard to take anti-fiction arguments seriously is because I have reading comprehension, can read critically, and can enjoy fiction without having it radically change me.
I've never read any fiction with dark themes, no matter how sexualized, glorified, or whatever, that even began to make me think about condoning or supporting it in real life.
It's to the point where I'm genuinely confused by what point anti-fiction people are trying to make. Do they think that people are so brainless that they just support everything they read? of that somehow, if you read it enough, it just washes away all of your morals and core beliefs?

No one is saying "fiction doesn't affect reality".
What most of us have said is this:
× "Fiction doesn't affect reality on a 1:1 ratio."
× "Fiction is not reality and should not be treated as such."
× And "Real life, living, breathing human beings matter far more than any fictional character ever will."
Notice how NONE of that says "Fiction doesn't affect reality. Full stop. In any situation. Ever."

Something I've noticed a lot lately is how many problematic ship posts will have a TON of likes but very few reblogs. These ships get stereotyped as being rarepairs only enjoyed by freaks, and yet a lot of people like them. They're just terrified of the backlash of publicly reblogging it. And I think that's really sad.
