It kind of sucks that being pro-fiction has been reduced to just "person who beats it to lolicon and ships incest" because, well, besides the fact that's a weird uncomfortable thing to assume about people, being pro-fiction is about so much more than supporting the freedom to write or read that kind of thing in fiction.
It's about supporting BDSM in fiction, "cringe" queer art/fic, "cringe" stories, badly written fanfic, rare pairs, ships that are unpopular, fanfiction that ignores canon, people being able to post their stories online without being bullied, being able to be in fandom without being bullied over everything I listed above and more, not to mention basic pro-fiction beliefs (like knowing you can read something without it corrupting you) and being against anti-fiction outside of fandom too (fuck book bans).
I don't know; a lot of pro-fiction people just want fandom to be a nice place and for people to realise that you can read something bad in fiction critically, and suggesting otherwise feels kind of ignorant.

Something i dont understand is why so many antis consider shipping children to be problematic, like how???
Real life kids have crushes on eachother and shit all the time, its not like its even illegal if theyre so worried about legality and shit.

I have recently learned about antishipping/proshipping and it’s one of those things that makes me feel really old, first of all, because in the dark ages when I started reading fanfic it was mostly a safe space for any type of content and being an ‘anti shipper’ just meant not liking a ship or shipping in general
and now I’m like reading about antishippers harassing people on twitter, discord, ao3 etc for writing about incest, rape, certain ships whatever, and it’s so fucking sad because these chronically online children are literally yearning for censorship which is just .. I don’t even know
don’t like, don’t interact and that’s applicable to any fucking media
and no, I haven’t been harassed or anything but man do I wish somebody would come at me; it’s been a while since I’ve argued with anyone over the internet

Antis are literally ruining what SHOULD be the most exciting amazing time of her life, her debut year. But because one of you purity culture fuckers decided her story (WHICH IS ROOTED IN HER GENERATIONAL TRAUMA AND HER FAMILY’S FOLKLORE” was *problematic* that gave yall carte blanch to attack her.

I never liked using the word proship for myself, because it's not that big of a deal. My stance on what is okay to ship is literally not a part of my personality. But now people are forcing me to choose between being a proshipper or an asshole. Some ships make me uncomfortable but I'm not going to tell anyone that they should die because of that. If it makes me a proshipper, I'll be one I guess.

Another big reason it's so hard to take anti-fiction arguments seriously is because I have reading comprehension, can read critically, and can enjoy fiction without having it radically change me.
I've never read any fiction with dark themes, no matter how sexualized, glorified, or whatever, that even began to make me think about condoning or supporting it in real life.
It's to the point where I'm genuinely confused by what point anti-fiction people are trying to make. Do they think that people are so brainless that they just support everything they read? of that somehow, if you read it enough, it just washes away all of your morals and core beliefs?

But am I the only one who feels like Antishippers are extremely culty? Like
-Refusal to engage with anything that could be seen as Impure
-Strong belief that anyone who doesn't hold to their beliefs must be a Evil Degenerate Predator
-Openly denouncing their ideas can get you publicly shamed and harassed and isolated from your peers
-Obsession with maintaining purity in all aspects, relationships, literature, media, art, even thoughts
