Mutual recognition (also titled, “random people were yelling I love you at me at pride and I’m still thinking about it”)

Here's some disability thoughts I had during my latest flare (hence the wobblier-than-usual lines and messy writing). I hope it makes sense even if I was pretty confused when I made it! I have POTS and ME/CFS, as well as ADHD and being autistic. Accepting the reality of being bed/housebound and hard-of-thinking often is going to be a life long effort but I'm getting there. literally begging yall this disability pride month to remember the phys. disabled deaf people. draw them with transcription computers, draw them wearing colorful CIs and HAs, draw them using FM systems, i've never seen anyone draw them and i'd love to see representation of that. i cannot count the number of times i've been excited to see disability art only to see them all using mobility aids and feel disappointed afterwards because fuck knows when the last time you saw your disability aids.

this disability pride month include Deaf/HOH people that don't solely use sign language, who wear colorful disability aids, who use things that only their own community seems to know about

cane users are valid-- we are pm full time cane users, and we're thinking about getting forearm crutches cause our cane isn't giving much support anymore. we have a rollator walker but its big and we're a little ashamed to use it cause things our mom says and how people will look at us. it's also big and we don't want to take up space. but our rollator walker helps a lot. we need to move out soon so we can be ourselves.. mom doesn't like the idea of us getting forearm crutches but we think theyll give us bettee support than our canes.. we are actively saving for a pair now.. - Pip
