(i have not read issue #1 yet, this is mostly a rant about tom taylor and #6, so kind of spoilers for dick in beast world)
ok, so the cover for #6 was announced and...
i'm pissed
so, firstly, this article on it made me want to cry
WHY IS THAT THE TITLE FUCK OFF
i am sick and tired of the "nightwing is a sex symbol" bc why do they keep forcing this narrative

do i like dick as a fox bc i like dick and i like foxes, so i am happy for that, but the fact it has been done purely for the sex symbol reason is annoying
tom taylor's run is something. there are good things about it (haley) but a lot of mis-writing of dick as a character and ignoring a lot of characterisation that has occurred aver the past 83 years. i like the limiting of his sexualisation - it is a lot less present in taylor's run than previous runs - but making dick a fox bc foxy get it bc foxy bc sexy is stupid and annoying
dick WOULD be a fox, but not because of that. he would be a fox because he is a trickster, he is manipulative (something tom taylor seems to forget half the time). this man can fool batman if he wants. this is a good enough reason for him to be a fox but no, it's because he is sexy
it also fits with the bats being canines (not damian but cat damian makes so much sense and it's close enough) with bruce and jason both being wolves. dick as a fox fits this perfectly. especially with him, bruce, and jason, the three characters that mirror each other. bruce and jason are both wolves because they are the same. they are so similar it's scary sometimes (my own opinion on them anyway. there are differences between them ofc but they are a lot more similar than they are different). dick is a fox because his is the same but different. a canine but he chose his own path, became a better version of batman. a master manipulator.
there was a perfect reasoning but it was thrown out because "let's continue the over-sexualisation of him" was the easy way out
do i think the better reasoning might end up being the actual reasoning in the comics, possibly. idk if they will dive into the reasoning tbh, i'm not holding out hope for it.
idk man, i think beast world is gonna be fun, but this just made me cry
i'm only happy bc the cover by sweeny boo is actually nice (it doesn't accentuate his ass so tysm for that bc now i don't feel bad when i use it in my nightwing widget)
also, i am not someone who hates tom taylor. ii think his writing is fine and i love superman: son of kal-el ok. he doesn't write dick badly, sometimes he just misses and that is ok. i still like the run and will still get it and read it bc i'm enjoying it ok
i just don't like the OVER-sexualisation of dick

PRELIMINARY ROUND - DC COMICS
PROPAGANDA
Cassandra Cain
1.) essentially her character premise is that shes more or less an unbeatable martial artist due to the way she was raised. in the comics, she's the second batgirl and had a very popular solo series from 2000-2006. However, essentially DC editorial really didn't like that a teenage chinese girl was a better hand-to-hand fighter than batman, and so mandated that she be turned into a extremely random (also remarkably racist, as she was more or less turned in a 'dragon lady' stereotype) villain, which completely derailed and destabilized her character enough for her to almost entirely disappear from comics for the next decade. this is a far more detailed write up if wanted: https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama/comments/pdue0e/american_comicsdc_comics_the_saga_of_cassandra/
2.) Following the events of One Year Later, Cass was turned into a homicidal villain who led her own league of assassins and wanted to force Tim Drake into murdering people. This was later retconned as her being drugged, brainwashed, and manipulated by deathstroke.
3.) Literally canonically a better fighter than Batman and probably most of the DC universe. Killed one person once and because of the way she grew up (never taught to speak, learned to communicate by reading body language, in order to make her the ultimate weapon), saw what he experienced as he died and then refused to ever kill again. Had an awesome initial run… And then got hit with "evil mind control" that made her go completely OOC, depopularizing her character so much that a lot of people don't even know she exists.
Barbara Gordon
1.) Was shot as angst value for Bruce and her dad, implied to be sexually assaulted in The Killing Joke with absolutely no respect for her long career as Batgirl. When Alan Moore asked if he could, the editor said "cripple the bitch." She became paralyzed from the waist down. THankfully, an actually good writer picked her up from there and then wrote one of the best stories ever written (Oracle Year One: Born from Hope). Was one of the most iconic disabled characters in comic book history, hell, as Oracle, she was definitely up there as one of the most iconic disabled characters ever as well as a fantastic character, period. There were a few moments where people kept trying to make things out of her disability and had her be shitty to other women for no reason but for the most part, she was awesome. During her time In 2011, Dan Didio and some other misogynistic/ableist comic book writers were responsible for "curing" her disability and forcing her back into Batgirl, despite her having shown absolutely no desire to do so, as part of the New 52. They also made it an editorial mandate that she couldn't have glasses, a cool secret base, and her time as Oracle couldn't be referenced. This was because those writers were nostalgic for the 60s Batman show where Babs was played by an actress they all had the hots for and couldn't accept she'd grown up and moved on. That was bad enough, but over time, she's been increasingly deaged and reduced even further to just Dick Grayson's on and off again girlfriend and a generic girlboss. Batgirl of Burnsides burn in hell.
2.) Famously fridged in 1988, which was so popular with misogynists it became canon. After almost 2 decades of being one of the only disabled characters, was rebooted to a younger, more fun version of herself whose only history is that she was fridged but not disabled by it.
3.) The Killing Joke is one of the biggest comic examples of a female character getting hurt to motivate male characters. Also tbe way different cannons will trade off who her romantic intrest is out of Batfamily is pretty disturbing ranging from Bruce Wayne in Batman the Animated series universe (ew) to Tim Drake in the Arkham games (ew). Not to mention DC now is not letting her grow out of being Batgirl taking away her legacy of other young female heroes taking up her mantle and her getting to mentor them instead forcing her into a Batgirl cycle of purgatory when she was always better as Oracle (Its a little more complicated in the new Batgirl book but its still not solving the issues in a way that feels meaningful enough to make up the damage).

Entrapping Nightwing
Part 1
Entrapping Dick Grayson the Nightwing in a plan worthy of the Bat himself is a fine art for sure as you can imagine I had weeks to plan it.
Dick Grayson is resting home in his Chicago based apartment after a long training field session for about a month in the woods with the rest of the titans.
The look of pure exhaustion covers his face as he endeavors to be anything weak in the sight of others he stands in the light before the mirror.
The expression of pain seeking throughout his body as he makes a face struggling to barely lift up his shirt over his head finally
he manages to.
The scraps of bruises splattered on his body
he touches his body extreme pain persistent pounds of pain shooting upward into the sky of sorts.
He can’t believe what is seeing an odd grey cloud of smoke shreds through the sky then blocks up is the entire city leaving no one to be able to use their gift of sight.
It is unbelievable as Dick manages to grab a remote control pointing at the a screen he presses play and the television flips on to reveal it.
At first it’s an odd static sound ricocheting in a high deep vibe hitting his ears head on he stopped stunned in a lack of movement he is stuck.
The static starts to fade as the screen spins takings a spiral like shape instantly he is now under my influence completely in my thrall.
In the shadows of the room the lights began to flicker brightly on and off consistently as the windows fall shut down locking in place and the doors slam close as well.
The room lights dim down to small crawl on to him a solo light blows up surrounding him ins a fiery state he mindlessly removes his clothes.
I move revealing myself from the shade of the night waking into the view every step is like a thousand pounds of weight holding him back.
No longer needing to hold back I race up to his back forcing myself on him to no facial or body reaction is amazing he is like a doll or a statue.
Swatting his butt hard I begin to grope him so hard I can feel the inner muscle twerk in an excitement and I take him aside pushing him on to the wall.
I lean on to him planting a kiss on his lips as his eyes continue to lock on to the screen all that matters and his mind completely alters for the better.
My hands land on to his waist swooping hook past his sides to his belt I undo it quick with little effort the belt falls to the floor and I feel great.
Digging my nose into his skin I happily sniff inhaling all of his scent in deep heaves of breath and plant kisses on his body every inch of it.
His under pants slid to the floor leaving him stark naked sweat glistening in the dark aura of the room everything ceases to exit but his beauty.

Supreme Knower of all things James Gordon Jr, is there a panel somewhere that has JJ saying Grayson was the only person to ever make him feel… something? Anticipation? Excitement? Idk, but I swear I saw a post along those lines before and cannot find it now. Am I going crazy? Help
yes!! not exactly but it’s similar. in fact a scholar such as myself could argue it’s even more Yaoi than that. at the ending climax of Batman: The Black Mirror, James talks to Dick over a manipulated communication line. He has his famous INTJ Psychopath monologue, and essentially he tells Dick that his presence is what drew him back to Gotham. He claims that his smile is what gave him motivation to return to Gotham and abandon his psychiatric treatment (it was 2010 so let’s cut Scott Snyder some slack).
I’m this same issue, he also says he thought about Dick quite often since he was a child, he saved his life, and that standing next to him was beyond thrilling (again, guy who proclaims he doesn’t feel any sort of emotion talking here).
I could go on for hours but I want a coffee before this place I like closes so I’ll make it quick. James and Dick are intrinsic reflections of each other (thus, Black Mirror). They are both sons of Gotham, raised by the city, have symbolic and literal connections to falling/flying, and most importantly can both be condescending assholes.
People bitch about how James is a bad villain cause he doesn’t have a costume gimmick, but that is a core part of his character with his relationship to Dick. A man who has loved many lives and worn many faces, and a man who has lived the same life with the same soulless eyes. This of course reflects back to the relationship between Bruce and Jim. Ah, I’m getting off track.

Chapter Nine: Bloodrot
Jason didn't sleep for days after what happened. He wanted to go home and get away from the noise of Gotham. It was unbearable, but Jason couldn't turn his back on his mission. Ra's expected success and Jason was so close to providing Ra's with what he wanted. Jason signed up for a tour of the embassy, and he'd be purposefully late.
He filled his backpack with notebooks and a camera. Jason wanted to seem like a student who'd come in late from school. It was so long since he'd felt like a child, though. He was cynical and cold, more so lately than at home. The world rotted before his eyes. There was no such thing as justice. Jason knew that now, and he knew Gloria would never get justice.
Sunlight hurt his eyes as he stepped out of the hotel and rushed toward the embassy. He tried to look disheveled as he tried to dump his accent. It seemed better to look like a tourist than a local. He recalled his training in espionage and how cruelly his failures were received. Failure was not an option. He removed his belt and backpack and placed them in the bin as he stepped through the metal detectors. He tapped his foot anxiously to seem like he had more important places to be. Once the security guard let him through, he raced to put on his belt, purposefully fumbling with the loops, and grabbed a map. He wandered until he ran into the restroom adjacent to the diplomat's office. He waited until the stalls were empty and used the air vents to reach the diplomat's office. Jason watched from the air ducts as the diplomat stacked files on his desk and prepared to leave for a meeting.
Jason waited nearly twenty minutes before the office was clear, and he jumped down from the vents, making a beeline for the computer. If it was anything like his training, it would take less than five minutes to get the information on the flash drive, but thankfully the diplomat was an idiot. The computer was left unlocked, and the files were ready to be transferred. He heard footsteps and retrieved the flash drive before hiding in the air vents once more, and he listened to a conversation between the diplomat's son and a man that used to deal in his old neighborhood.
"There's this blonde—."
"I'm good right now. There's some bubbleheaded-bitch protector in town, and I don't plan on seeing him again," the diplomat's son interrupted. Jason grinned, but he wouldn't be happy until he could put both those men in the ground. Jason wriggled through the vents until he returned to the restroom. He washed his hands and slipped out into the hall just in time to blend in with the group.
He couldn't conceal his emotions. After a month and a half of surveillance, he'd go home. Jason was almost at the exit when he felt a knife at his throat. He feigned fright despite taking offense to how he'd been handled so roughly. "Give me Garzonas, or the runt dies!" the man yelled. Jason shook with rage. He wanted to kill Garzonas with his bare hands. The knife dug into his throat as he trembled, but he couldn't feel it. All Jason could think about was the feeling of that man's neck in his grip. The hostage situation didn't last long. A single shot took the man out, and blood splattered all over Jason's face and clothes. It didn't feel how it did when it was his own blood. His stomach lurched, and he staggered past the officers. His ears rang, and the whole world rocked back and forth. Jason leaned with his shoulder against the wall and vomited into a trashcan.
Someone attempted to put a shock blanket over Jason, but he pushed them away. He just wanted to get out. He wanted to go home. "I didn't see anything... I want to go home," Jason muttered. It wasn't the first time he'd had someone's brains on his clothes, but it never felt normal. It wasn't something he could ever get used to. "Don't touch me."
He staggered outside to a payphone and called the pickup number. The man on the phone gave him coordinates and a date. Ten days. Jason had to wait ten days for pickup. His heart sunk into the bottom of his stomach.
He wanted to go home as soon as possible, even if it meant flying the jet himself. Jason quickly slipped out of the area and snuck into his hotel room. He started packing his locked suitcases, stacking them by the bed. He tried to stave off the overwhelming dread that washed over him in waves. Jason despised Gotham. For three years, he lived in paradise. Of course, there were things Jason had to go through in the League, but they were his family. He no longer had a family in Gotham. There was nothing but pain and suffering for him there. Bad memories.
He bathed and changed clothes before meditating. Jason wouldn't eat or drink for the next twenty-four hours. Instead, he fasted and meditated. The League taught him to conceal his emotions, but Talia taught him how to process them as best she could. Jason had completed his mission and thought he'd go home immediately, but ten more days seemed excruciating after what he'd seen. Processing his feelings about recent events didn't make things easier. Instead, it only made him angry.
After twenty-four hours of meditation, Jason knew what he wanted to do but wasn't sure it was allowed. He wished to kill the diplomat's son. He thought it would help him feel better, but deep down, he knew it wouldn't fix anything. There would always be someone like him in Gotham.
His mind drifted to Catherine and late nights at the library. Bruises and cuts on his mother's face. It all came flooding back despite his attempts to suppress his anguish. Images he'd never spoken of washed over him, drowning him in old miseries. He wanted to die. For the first time, he desired to feel death's cold fingertips wrapped tightly around his throat. And he wanted it to hurt. Jason couldn't silence his mind if he tried. And he did try. He killed himself for the first time that night. He taped a plastic bag over his head and let the darkness take him. He came to three days later, tearing the bag away from his face in shame, guiltily praying for forgiveness. Prayer was lost to his lips, but his heart begged for consolation. If he couldn't join Catherine, he'd need the strength to return to his new home and permission to forget his old one. Jason feared God would not hear his pleas after his self-desecration, but he prayed anyway. He prayed late into the evening, and finally, he set out to clean the apartment.
Jason fed his ravenous appetite at a hotdog stand across the street from his apartment, and he sat on the curb, gorging himself on hotdog after hotdog. He always felt that way after coming back. His hands shook, and his head spun until the food settled. Once it did, Jason washed it down with a soda. Jason liked the hunger. It was the only time he could forget everything else. Satisfying Jason's post-death cravings made him feel healed. But Jason knew better. With every death, he shattered even more. Soon, he'd be so broken he'd be unrecognizable.

as a neurodivergent person, i literally can’t write if the vibes of what i’m listening to isn’t on point, so i thought i’d share a few of my fandom playlists down below! some of them are specific to fics, others are certain relationships, some are purely vibes. i’ve included links to all of them, just click on the title. welcome to the chaos that is my mind
there was an idea
this one is just vibes tm. songs that i listen to when i’m picturing fights or action. i named it after the avengers because i liked the way it sounded, and i generally like the mcu’s music choices.

this one is a Dick Grayson character playlist. i just wanted to add some songs that remind me of him/his vibes. think abba, Britney Spears, and a little bit of punk pop.

a Paulina Sanchez playlist!!! i love her so much and i realized i didn't have many 'bad bitch' playlists, so it felt fitting. this is a lot of female artists, mostly pop and rap. however, i have thought about adding some 'bubblegrunge.' thoughts?

now we’re getting into the fic specific playlists. this playlist is a BIG spoiler for my fic “The Princess and the Outlaws” so listen at your own risk. basically all the chapter titles for that fic are different Taylor Swift songs and they’re on that playlist. past those songs, we get into more vibes territory. this playlist in particular has a few different sections since it deals with the polycule Jazz Fenton/Jason Todd/Roy Harper/Koriand’r. the first section being chapter titles obviously, the next being songs about their relationship, then songs they would sing to/about their partners, then a girl power section because Kori and Jazz kick ass, and lastly non-romantic songs that give off their group vibes.

@dcsupersimp wanted to work on this AU in more detail, and read they work give me pretty neat ideas so I would suggest that you follow them if you like this, I can't concentrate enough to go through xD.
Note: English is not my language, so I hope you will be understanding of any flaws you find.
If you need an age of reference... totally inventing the age, like... Reader lost the Waynes (8). Then they trained and studied with Alfred and teachers these years (16).
After two years in the League of Assassins Reader becomes the Bat (18) and the Grayson died at the same time with Dick (12, I advance the clock a lot) when Jason (8) and Tim (6) (they should be more like 6 and 4, but...)
Bats (22), Dick has been known for years as Ric Powers (18), Jason (12), Tim (10). Jason has been Robin for 1 year and has another one at most.
Bats (24), Ric (20), Jason (14) is dead, Tim (12) is Robin.

Billy was the faster in warm in you and even lets slips "dad/mom". Reader wasn't waiting that because his foster houses historial (Tim betrayed them in that sense being a late bloomer, actual little shitty dragon)

After accepting that Superman doesn't like him (and under Tim's influence not trying to fix the relation), Conner has vowed to keep the supers, like any super aka krytonian, away from you as a personal mission. You only need a super, HiM.
Tim is the brother who manipulates and tricks everyone to get what he wants. Everyone loves him though.
But if he and Jason say "choose", all run to Jay, nothing personal Timmyboy but they're sure you're going to bitch them in the end, they're bats no brats.
Jay and Tim have big brother energy and when they're all together even Reader gets feeling it in the mix.
Jason loves to read to his brothers, but especially to Reader, he usually looks for moments to be alone so he can get a cuddle time.
Actually Billy refuses to read any other thing that comics and manw/gas because "Jason can read it to me".
Tim has caused half of his brothers to be adopted, so over everything at the end, you touch them and he will burn you.
He's most like a cat too and at times snuggles against the reader simply for annoying his brothers.
Tim treasures Reader attention, each detail matters to him.
Steph is at the same time the most emotionally insecure, and the one who tries to go more than on its own, kinda like normal!Jason.
Reader is the tutor that if there is a good reason, encourages you to hit and break someone's teeth.
Gotham's educational institutions are preventively well founded by Wayne.
Everyone at Wayne Entrerprises who gets along with Reader gives them parenting advice and warns them of puberty and other horrors like it wasn't less than 15 years ago for them (not to mention, living it twice)
Wallet with photos. Each office with photos. Mobile wallpaper, computer wallpaper, all the fam above and more, including Barbs, Kate, Harley, Lucy (Har's daughter), Pam, Selina and Helena huddled together, which should be physically impossible in the phone but alas.

Gender bonding time!... idk what men do and I don't want just say "play football/baseball" sowry.
Girls make overs and dress up time chitchatting (sometimes Harley invites JLA and TT and more girls from others teams to make Reader eyes glassy).
Then girls vs boys baseball and randomized team and Conner don't ray the ball neither fly, no Billy, not shazam/shamaz that's cheating.
Still playing with superpowers and weapons. Specially Paintball, the family bonding sport. Madness incarnate. Kryptonite, bombs, thunders, roots and roses, everything is allowed... actually Reader said "no go hero/villain in this, normal people paintball plz" nobody listened, it's funnier so.
The gang even uses paintball to train their teams much to their dismay because is not training, IT'S SPARTA!!!
Alfred is suppa happy, specially because Reader was a lonely child before become "the mad person with the bat onesie"
As a matter of fact someone gift one to Reader, gender/sex doesn't matter, a bat onesie, yes, wings under arms included.
Opening gifts is long and stressful, because everyone looks at Reader and wants their gift to be the first and until they open theirs, as the Head of the House no one touches their owns.
So fucking much birthday parties they are content to meet for dinner, having bribed some hero to take care of Gotham for them and eat well.
The house is always with an unexpected guest, there is no silence in this house. It's full of life.
Workouts/training sesions sometimes turn into tournaments if everyone decides to participate.
Even those who have their own house sleep there at least once a week. Each one have an assigned bedroom.
Harley's hair, when she feels like dyed its, it is black and red (Ivy + Bats)

It's a competition about getting more quality time with you. Because, sadly, killing each other is out of the question.

Most Gothamites are disperse between shipping Y/N Wayne with Tim (legal or not...) and Y/N Wayne & Ric Powers. You can know half of the membership of the Court of Owls, depending on who ships who.
But they ship Bats with their knight aka Jason aka Hood, HoodedKnight, BatKnight... the Knight to the Royal/Ruler.
...When not ships Bats with Harley, #BatHarFever4Ever, that's its (Harley, stops the graffitis, you're a grown momma)
Reader has blacklisted all above ship shits (but Harley, Selina and Stephanie keeps her up-to-date)
Reader has location chips on their body, the codes of which only Alfred knows. The rest only know the codes of the suits. Tim suspects their existence but has no proofs. However, when Bats disappears, Ric/Talon is the FIRST to know it.
He doesn't go crazy. He gives you room to act. But if you're slow to show any signs of life, he starts setting off Wayne Manor's alarms as Talon as "indirect" and harassing as Ric not so swiftly. Talon is the fucking owl that hoots in your window giving you a fricking heart attack at 3:33 in the morning... 03:47 or 08:47 or even 13:47 and 18:47 (0B:AT, B:AT)
Wayne's secret weapon against Ric Powers. A day date at a public time and place/s of his choice. Not seriously. They had a conversation about it. It was fleeting, at a dance. "If I ever need a favor..." "I want you".
This is a thing, in case of having disappeared and there is an emergency and they need Ric support, Kate, Stephanie and Billy have to agree to ask Ric for a date on behalf of Bats and it has to be voiced by Steph (it's stipulated too). Why them? Who knows.
Because they may or may not know that Ric/Dick is Talon, but that if he takes their side, no one will notice the lack of Y/N Wayne is a fact.
That's because among all Batfam plus the Sirens and, surprise surprise, Thalia Al Ghul (if Bats is a woman); they can cover the absence of Gotham's Night Ruler.
Everyone knows that Talon Beta (Ric), doesn't meet 100% his quest rate just because he likes to play with the bat.
And the Court is beginning to understand that perhaps it is better to give that Talon some leeway, for their own safety... and especially now that Talon Alpha (gramps) has been in Arkham for years and there are rumors that someone is planning to kill him.
The relationship between Reader and Ric is strange, hero x villain, the kind that makes the poor reader's mouth go dry at the thought of being alone with Powers, but weirdly harmonious.
Talon! Dick, like O!Damian, is in love with your eyes, but he just wants them to look at him, either you see Talon, you see Ric or god don't grant him, you see Dick aka the orphan boy from the circus kinda a robin grown to man, raised by owls to be an owl, one in love with a bat.
... After the disappearance of the circus, Bats took care of the morons (although there was no point) Dick found out this. And he stalks Reader ever since. That's why he quickly discovered their identity. They only earned him more respect and affection. Specially because no "no kill" Batman original rule.
As I said, Jason fell into the yandere side of the force as soon as Bats delivered the final blow in the remains of what was the Joker.
After all, before that, you left him, you and Alfred, you taught him, that although life is precious, if you have to finish it (hopefully not), it is done quickly. And what you did was not quick, nor clean, nor pretty. And this Jason might have gotten a bit of tears!kink after watching the recordings of your face broken in pain for HiM.
In his defense, not all tears are of pain or sadness, there are also tears of joy and he's proud to be able to get you cry the latter as well.
Better than anyone but Alfred. Because the most experienced sass cannot be beaten.
But at the same time he likes to see you full of life, fighting, dreaming, crying, laughing, hating or loving. Every part of you is beautiful in your humanity. What the Joker did to his body doesn't compare to the mess you do to his heart. His head is a mess because you.
This also makes him more paranoid however, he would prefer, (and behind your back nothing tells you that the Batfam is not exactly doing that since he is the Superman of Tim's Batman) kill everyone who poses a danger to you. And, white fence dream then.
His best moments with you are being cuddled up and although he doesn't like that you feel pain, if it's what it takes for you to seek the comfort of his arms "... just come with me".
Tim Wayne spiritual animal is a dragon. And you're his noble person to keep and treasure. His, his, his, his, his, his.
This Tim was never harmed by the Joker but he was the one who could become a second him, in the sense that he is as sick of Bat's love and attention as Joker was. He simply claims that affection differently. And has no a psycothic smile laught, thank you.
He is clever, and has watched Bats for a long time, before even turning into Robin, before even the bat has worn the cape.
Oh, and if Reader is a girl, the position of "successor to Ra's Al Ghul" doesn't go to Bats but to him, 200%. Damn machist, Thalia Rules!
Fortunately, Tim is the guy who appreciates every second with Bats as one sips a good wine. And conformist. If not, Bats would be doomed.
Mostly because Tim understands Bats, and this Tim has no doubts about Wayne's affection for him, even though it may not be romantic... yet. I just notice maybe everyone in verse likes Bats because it's soft Dick
He waited to be by the bat's side... and became Robin so is all patience, patience, stalking, stalking. He will get what he wants step by step. Your-Attention. Your-Mind. Your-Heart.
Until then, if what you want is a family, he will build it for you with the best mistfits that society offers to protect you. A safe city? or a dungeon to give you adrenaline? Just think about that.
You don't even need to say it out loud if you don't want to, don't be ashamed of what you call dark desires, you are perfect and you deserve everything. And nothing is wrong, dark or twisted if it comes out of you.

i then sat and read it again but i "annotated" it
this is in preparation for me to go and obtain screenshots of the specific 'annotations'

Could you do good things and bad things about datiang the Bat boys and Bruce? I ask you for bad things because relationships aren't perfect. Please
This is my first time ever writing for Bruce sooo pls be kind it has been a rough day
•First of all of them are vigilantes which means that they might have some issues separating his hero life with the normal one no matter how hard thet might try.
•They have seen the worst part of humanity and after you have witnessed those kind of horrors there's not turning back. Every imperfection in buildings, locations that have a questionable reputation and people who seem mightily suspicious will trigger their vigilante senses.
•what I'm trying to say here? They can get protective without even notice. After being the one in the line for to long you're afraid those you love might get hurt so you'll try your fucking best to prevent it, right?
Bruce Wayne
•Bruce has a hard time accepting the love and care of others, even if you have a long term relationship Bruce might be cold and distant towards you.
•He usually doesn't care about his scars since they're consequences of trying his best to help others, but when the time to get naked in front of you comes he's slightly worried you might get disgusted because they're too many.
•Bruce gets silent when you show him pure kind love, a gentle caress on his cheek will make him snap out.
•He'll stare at you without knowing what's the right thing to do, the only thing clear onnhis mind is that he wants this to keep going.
•Sometimes you wish you could wake up or fall asleep with Bruce beside you more often. It makes you feel forgotten. Bruce has tried to stay there when you wake up, even if that means rushing home to take off the suit, slip in the cover and pretend he's sleeping.
•Bruce can be pretty romantic when he wants to. He will take you to fancy places and bought you the most prettiest things in the world, Bruce will be comfortable in those situations, talking smoothly and secure since he's trying to put a little bit of his playboy persona into this to not ruin it.
•But silly things like cooking your favorite dessert or buying a pretty thing he saw nd know it will useful to you, will get him slightly flustered. The man is afraid he might fuck up.
•If you're a mere civilian then Bruce would be petty fucking protective of you, at the point that sometimes make you wonder if he's being paranoid.
•He will install a security system in your house and car, maybe a tracker too because you never know what criminals might do to the partner of Bruce Wayne.
I•t's hard for Bruce to express his emotions and talk about them, he feels like it makes him seem weaker. But when he opens up he will pour his heart into his words, maybe he wouldn't say much, but everything that came out from his mout he meant it with his soul.
•Your fights are horrible, it leaves you both broken and wondering if this gonna be the end. Bruce is too stubborn to back down and you don't want to be the one who goes to apologize first, so you'll end up treating each other with the cold shoulder.
•It's not the type to say "I love you" constantly, he reserves those words for important moments like when he has to go to a risky mission, your anniversary or he will blurt them out when he see you doing something adorable.
•Bruce is a mysterious man and that aspect is not going to change once they start dating. You will feel that he is hiding things from you, which is true, but it will take a lot of persuasion and confidence for him to tell you what is happening or why he does not tell you things.
•Much of his reason is that he thinks that if he doesn't say anything to you you may be safe and happy in ignorance, however, he also does not want to link his romance to his work.
•Connecting in an emotional way with Jason is hard and even when you're there he tends to close and keep a lot of things to himself.
Jason Todd
•Jason hates how being in touch with his emotions makes him more vulnerable, once they see the light there's nothing that can stop the overwhelming wave of feelings that comes to drown him.
•Once Jason becomes truly comfortable around you he will get clingy. He needs you in order to him feel alright, it's like you bring up a nice part of him he wasn't even aware of it was there.
•You're the nicest thing Jason has ever had so far and he's down to do anything to make you stay. He can stop being Red Hood and live a normal live, change his personality for one you like better, whatever you want in a man Jason can try to copy it, but please don't leave him.
•He's a really attentive and supportive boyfriend, this trait is driven by his need to prove you his total love and attention because that shows he's worthy of your love. But putting that aside, Jason truly cares about you.
•Jason is not really used to receive romantic affection so he might shy away sometimes when he becomes aware of what's going on. It's like his mind can't process that other person wants to be romantic with him.
•Jason can get really protective of you and this worsen a little bit more if you're a civilian who knows little to nothing about self defense.
•Jason is a cuddle monster, having you between his arms is soothing and lovable. He loves this little domestic things, but it's better if he's the one on top of you or hugging because he can get out of the touch easier.
•It's better to not fight with Jason, he's not going to hit you or anything, in fact he prefers to cut his own arm with a fork before landing a hand on you.
•However, he can say some mean and hurtful thigs because he wants to win the argument regardless of how bad the consequences might be.
•It might not look like it, but Jason loves to do the silly cheesy things with you.
•He will engulf you into a tight hug and then give a breathless kiss anytime he comes back from a long mission, having you to cook with him regardless if you know what you're doing just because he thought it would be cute, cuddling with you in the sofa and read a book or just watch a movie (Jason will fall asleep snuggled up to you because he feels safe)
•Jason has night terrors and he can turn pretty paranoid whe he just wake up from a nightmare, so it's better if you stand back for a moment until he calms down and realizes that nothing bad is happening.

•It's hard to have some alone time with him thanks to his busy schedule. Dick can't stay still, he needs to work and protect the city, because he cares about the others but also needs the action to live.

•Okay so this one goes for his Titans version: I don't know why, but I feel that sometimes Dick can manipulate your needs and turn them into his own desires, to be more concrete emotional blackmail.
•He could do this unconsciously and without really wanting it, because once he realizes what he did he will feel very bad about himself, which would lead him to isolate himself from you for a while to think about everything he has done and then apologizing .

No, that threat certainly didn’t seem to keep Lucien or Tamlin awake at night. Or from inviting these monsters into their home.
The manipulation of the text is clear as day. How do people not see it?? The way this sentence is formed and placed in the story?? It's implying that Tamlin and Lucien are heartless monsters who dont give two fcks about the humans. But why wud they??? They aren't humans!!! They're fey!!! Just because Tamlin is against slavery and his court borders the humans, they aren't his responsibility. The humans have the their queens. They aren't bothered to protect them. So why is she blaming Tamlin and Lucien for looking out for their own rather than those who aren't even under his jurisdiction and who hate his kind????
Plus its not like she loves the humans or anything we see it with the way she deals with any humans.The queens, grayson and family. Even her own sisters. Remember the time she just showed up at their doors as a High Fey after months of no contact demanding they help her and 3 humanoid bats??? Remember how she talks to them, to nesta???
Tamlin had promised upon my return that I was to be included in the planning, in every meeting. And he was true to his word when he explained that Jurian would arrive with two other commanders from Hybern, and I would be present for it.
In this book its mentioned multiple times that tamlin is trying to be better. Trying to make amends. She even says although in way sjm thinks is badass... that "that was his new favourite word: try". That isn't something to be made fun of. Tamlin realises his mistakes hes trying to be better. That's not something rhysie ever did. Honestly, I'd prefer someone who will better himself and rectify his mistakes and take initiatives to be grow as a person and as a partner rather than someone who cries into a bowl of soup to make up for SA me for three months. But i'm going to talk about Tamlin in these chpters in another post.

Titans Season 3 spoilers and discussion below the cut. And I’m cranky about several events so far, so there is definitely some criticism.
Okay. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. And we watched 50s and 60s tv, too. So my level of just how much crap I’ll put up with in tv and movies is pretty high. I’m used to cheesiness, ridiculous plots that make no sense, poor costuming and next to no budget for special effects, indifferent acting and poor casting choices, writers just phoning it in, etc. I tend to stick with a show longer than many people I talk to these days, and I think it’s because hey, whatever is on these days at least looks nicer than what I grew up with, and I’m already used to a lot of shows really not being all that great. Plus, I know some shows do take a while to get their footing, and then they do get more enjoyable. And as long as there is something enjoyable and they haven’t absolutely alienated me with the unenjoyable parts, I’ll keep watching if it’s something that was important enough to get me invested to begin with... which is why I’m still watching Titans (and because I think Brenton Thwaites is a good Dick Grayson).
This season, though... there was some of this last season, but wow, it’s starting to actually hurt to see how the writers seem to envision Dick now. I know this isn’t a kids show and there’s violence, and I knew Jason was going to be Red Hood, so I just waited and kept my peace when they did that in the first 5 minutes of the show. I wasn’t so happy at the portrayal of Jason, though. I know the characterizations aren’t the same as the comics I prefer, but at some point when you stray far enough away, the only thing shared is the name (like Robin in Teen Titans Go, you know?).
It’s the same with Jason in Titans. I can’t handle him being nothing more than a ball of anger and hate (and not even having Lazarus pit rage or Bruce replacing him so quickly and not avenging him as the impetus for change... because it isn’t a change in this show; it’s Jason’s normal status quo). I can’t handle Dick and Bruce and Babs implying that Jason voluntarily studying something in a book is out of character. At least last season, I could enjoy him with Rose. So far this season, I’m hating it. Four eps in and I haven’t seen him do a single thing I’ve liked or enjoyed.
And do I even have to say anything about Bruce? I already fairly well hated him last season. This season, if anything, my opinion of him has dropped even more. THAT is not my Batman OR Bruce Wayne. Dick had it right when he said “Fuck Batman” *sigh*
Dove? yeah, same shit, different season. I liked her first season, but season two, not so much. Even as she left in episode 4, I felt sorry for her, and remembered why I originally liked her some, but, eh. I was just glad she was leaving because she was doing the same junk with Dick that I started hating her for last season.
Hank... I cried, okay? I know, this isn’t a Disney movie, but I expected the good guys to win (I know yeah, they already killed Garth and Donna off, but I’m expecting Donna to come back, so that one didn’t hurt as much, ok?). And I don’t know why, because yeah, they definitely have him in the archetype of asshole of the team, but... he had dimension to him and at least one of the writers managed to make me care for him. So yeah. I’m really torn up about Hank, and damnit, they better have made it worth something GOOD by the end of the season, or I’m going to be really cranky. Don’t manipulate my emotions and call it good writing unless something more than just me crying comes out of it.
And Dick. I wasn’t even going to say anything until the Blackfire episode. But good lord almighty, I am not going to take this one and not bitch about it. I’ve been silently fuming about Jason and how horribly OOC he is, but jeez. No. In a normal timeline, absolutely not. Dick is not going to kill that wolf, BEHEAD THAT WOLF AND TAKE THE HEAD LIKE A TROPHY, and then casually remark to fucking Scarecrow that he shouldn’t have been afraid of the wolf, the wolf should have been afraid of him.
Yeah, there are still some things I enjoy, and I do want to know what happens with the story, and I want to see how the other characters fare, but I am fucking done with how they’re showing Gotham and characters I love; and we don’t deserve what they’re doing to them.

Chapter 6 – Everything Happens in Its Own and Usually Most Inconvenient Possible Time

The gala was going better than anticipated. Despite feeling like she stuck out like weed in a field of flowers, things seemed to be going well. Marinette had talked with more people than she could remember and they all seemed to walk away happily and interested in her work except for a few pompous assholes who couldn’t keep their eyes off her growing chest. Admittedly, she was showing more cleavage than she anticipated, but she was blaming that on the baby that was enlarging her chest already.
Luckily, she had Adrien to watch out for her and keep them from doing anything more than just look. More importantly, Tim seemed impressed with her designs for the gala and could pick out the outfits that were hers. That was two big checks for the night. The rest of her life might be going to hell, but at least this night was going smoothly.
Whereas she felt like she was an imposter in the ranks, Adrien seemed to blend into the crowd seamlessly. Laughing sensibly at the right times, sharing knowing looks that confused Marinette with the other party goers, smiling politely at the right bad jokes. He led her to the right people to get to know and whispered in her ear the right things to say to them.
She watched Adrien flourish and felt a twinge of guilt. This was the product of his dad. She was benefitting from Gabriel’s abuse toward Adrien. She grabbed Adrien’s arm to get his attention and looked up at him with sad eyes. He gave her a soft smile and excused them politely from the conversation they were in. “It’s okay, Mari. I’m okay,” he assured her. He looked back out to the crowd.
“How about a fun one next?” he urged her.
Marinette gave him a halfhearted smile and nodded. If he could do this then so could she. He was doing this for her. She could hold up her end. She nodded and smiled politely at people as she passed. One woman lit up at her so Marinette stopped to talk to her, letting Adrien continue on without her. After a very amusing conversation with a breath of fresh air named Selina Kyle, Marinette searched for Adrien in the crowd. Luckily, he hadn’t wandered too far away. She caught his attention and he turned to her with a wide smile.
“And this is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Marinette, this is Richard Grayson.”
Marinette looked over to the new man, still trying to keep all the names of people she had met already. There were too many names. There was no way she was going to remember this new person’s name. She looked in the new man’s eyes… familiar eyes and a familiar but strained smile. Why were those eyes familiar? “Fuck…” Marinette let out before she could stop herself.
Adrien froze. Richard froze. That name wasn’t right. That definitely wasn’t the name he had given her. Did he give her a fake name?
“Uh, hi.” Dick offered with a strained smile. “It’s nice to meet you. Dick Grayson.” He wasn’t sure what their relationship was, but if she was in a relationship with Adrien, he wasn’t going to intentionally destroy it despite the twinge in his heart. That would explain the hasty exit from his apartment though.
“He is Bruce Wayne’s son,” Adrien gently reminded her, “Tim’s brother.”
“Fuck!” Marinette groaned out louder. Tears were starting to appear in her eyes. This could not be happening. Not here. Not now. She was not prepared for this conversation. She was supposed to be networking for her job, for the partnership and her store. She did not have time for this! Why now. Why after all their searching and attempts to retrace her steps did it have to happen now?
He was Tim’s brother and Bruce Wayne’s son. One of, if not the richest man in the world and the current holder of her exclusive contract. Dick was going to hate her. He was going to think she trapped him into this. He was going to think she was a manipulative bitch who shouldn’t be allowed to raise children and take the baby away and never let her see it. She would only get to see him or her or them whenever Richard took them out in public. The baby was going to get a new mother and would call her ‘Maman’. And what if that new mom didn’t like having a stepchild? What if she didn’t love them like they deserved? What if they thought Marinette didn’t want them?
“Are you okay?” Adrien asked quietly.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” Marinette exclaimed shaking her hands to release anxiety. She could no longer breathe and tears were starting to gather in the corner of her eyes.
“Mari?” Adrien looked between Marinette and Richard a few times before a realization set in. “Oh my God. He said his name was Dick. It’s him! It’s ladybug shirt guy!” He said with a smile. “We found him! I’m telling Chloe. She is going to die.”
“No!” Marinette jumped at him to grab his phone, attracting the attention of the people around them. But at this point, Marinette no longer cared. She had more important things to focus on.
“Well, I have more mingling to do and you,” he pushed Marinette toward Dick hard enough for her to stumble and Dick to reach out and steady her, “have some talking to do. Good luck. I won’t go too far. Let me know if you need me… for anything...” He looked at Marinette sincerely with his last statement before giving Dick a less friendly look. “… anything at all.”
Marinette looked up at Dick through her lashes. Her fear was radiating out of her and it made Dick want to wrap her up and hold her until she smiled. “How… how have you been?”
Marinette looked around them noticing now close everyone was and a few people who were leaning back expressly to eavesdrop. She eyed them warily and responded loudly enough for them to hear, “We haven’t caught up in a bit. Let’s go somewhere and talk where the music isn’t so loud.”
Dick followed her eyes and nodded, leading her out of the ballroom and into the closed section of the manor. He could feel the apprehension as she walked, making him nervous as well. He didn’t know what was about to happen but he could tell it was significant. He just didn’t know if it was good significant or bad significant.
“We should be good here. Nobody but family is allowed back here.” He looked around anxiously as if to confirm, but really it was just something for him to do, something to focus on besides her. “I was hoping to talk to you after… after that night but realized I didn’t get your number. I tried going back to the club to look for you, but...”
“It closed. Yeah… I tried going back to the club, too.” Dick brightened up at that. She had searched for him too. It wasn’t just him that wanted to try for something more. “I wanted to maybe just show up at your door, but I think I was still drunk when I left and…,” she scrunched up her face in uncertainty, “I saw all the weapons on the counter and when I heard you waking up in the bedroom, I just ran. I didn’t pay attention to where I was. And then I thought about the weapons and thought… maybe I shouldn’t.”
The realization hit Dick and he cursed under his breath. He was going to kill Jason. “My brother is paranoid, Jason not Tim, who you apparently know. Living in Gotham is bad enough but he… we get targeted a lot so he… those were his weapons, not mine. I swear. None of them were mine and they normally aren’t even there, I just wouldn’t let them take them to the club,” he rushed out to try to assure her.
Her eyes searched his. He held his breath praying she found what she was looking for, or not finding it, depending on the question she was trying to answer. Whichever answer let him talk to her again, he hoped she found it. After a few moments, she must have found some answer because she gave him a weak smile and nodded slightly. Dick let out the breath he had been holding. She didn’t seem entirely convinced, but Dick would take it. He could work with it if she gave him a chance. He nervously rubbed the back of his neck. Now he had a chance, what was he going to do with it? “So… how have you been?”
“Pregnant,” Marinette answered quickly, instantly regretting not saying it more sensitively, easing him into the realization. She had freaked out, it stood to reason that he would as well.
Dick’s eyes widened in shock and his breath shortened. He looked down to her belly and back up to her face. A look of panic was plastered on his face. He was not ready. How did it even happen? He thought they had used precautions. And he had provided the condom and put it on so it wasn’t as though she could have sabotaged anything. Holy shit! He was going to be a dad. How was he going to balance that? How was he going to be a dad and Nightwing? Shit! He couldn’t take care of himself. How was he supposed to take care of a child? He was pretty sure they ate more than cereal.
“I’m so sorry!” Marinette rushed out seeing his whole body going into shock. “I’m so very, very sorry! I swear I don’t expect anything. I don’t… I didn’t… This wasn’t on purpose. I swear! I wasn’t trying to get pregnant.” Tears were now freely falling down her cheeks and marring her dress. Thank God she had waterproof mascara but the water stains were still making their mark.
“How…”
She chuckled mirthlessly. “Did you know semen leaks out before the… end? Cuz’ I didn’t.” She wiped tears away as she spoke. “Or rather I did, I just didn’t think it was enough to do anything. But, if you’re truly lucky, that’s enough. So if you wait to put a condom on until just before… the end, you can still get pregnant.”
“And you… you’re sure…” He didn’t know how to ask the question tactfully.
She drew a sharp breath and looked down wiping away a few more tears. “Yeah. I… I broke up with my boyfriend a little under a year ago. There… um… there hasn’t been anyone else since then.”
He nodded dumbly. That was pretty conclusive. Unless there was a sudden case of immaculate conception going on, that was his baby. “Okay.”
She turned her eyes to him, her expression somber. “I didn’t… I don’t expect you to do anything, not participation, not child support, nothing. I just… I thought you deserved to know even if you don’t want to be involved and I understand if this is too much for you.”
Dick looked up at her in surprise. She was giving him an out. She wasn’t expecting him to be a dad and help take care of them. But for some reason, that realization only made his heart clench tighter. Did he want an out? Did he want to miss out on his child’s upbringing? All of their firsts? Their first step. Their first summersault. Their first word. Their first laugh. Their first breath.
He didn’t. He didn’t want to miss out on those things. He pulled himself out of his spiral to see Marinette starting to turn away to leave. He reached out and grabbed her hand before she could get too far away and pulled her into his chest, hugging her tightly. “I want to be involved. I want to be there. I want to help.” She froze for a few seconds before hugging him back just as strongly. Her crying increased in his arms and he held her through it. He wouldn’t let her go through any part of this alone, not anymore.
“I don’t know what you need, but I want to help provide it for you and… and our baby,” he said gently, pulling away just enough to wipe away her tears.
She nodded at him, turning her eyes up to match his. Dick felt his chest tighten. Her eyes were glassy with tears but still gorgeous and captivating. He moved the hand wiping the tears to cup her face. His thumb gently stroked her cheek. He leaned down toward her but her hand clasped over her lips before his lips could reach them, blocking his way. Her eyes bugged out and she ran to the trash can before throwing up.
“Oh my god,” she groaned, collapsed on the floor next to the trash can. “And morning sickness has officially begun. And it’s early. Just so much luck.” She looked up at him with an apologetic smile. “Sorry you had to see that.”
Dick chuckled lightly, “Well, I did want to be there for all the firsts. Come on,” he gently grabbed her hands to help her up, “let’s get you some water to rinse out your mouth and cleaned up a bit. If you want to stay, I’d love to escort you around. If you’d like to go home and rest, I’d love to take you home. If you want to go somewhere and talk, I’d love to take you wherever you want. But either way, can I get your phone number… and last name? I want to help figure things out with you. Maybe… if you’re interested… maybe go on a first date? If you want to try for a relationship…. I mean… I understand if you don’t want to risk…”
His stuttering cut off when she started giggling. He looked up to match her eyes, a look of hope finally finding their way back into them. “I would really like that, too. And it’s Dupain-Cheng. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. It’s nice to officially meet you, Dick Grayson.”
