DP x DC Prompt #51
Damian would like it on the record that this is Todd's fault. If Todd hadn't encouraged Damian to start making fan art, he wouldn't be in this mess. Stupid Todd, Damian should've known better than to listen to him.
But here he was, blushing like mad as he nervously asked his favorite author to sign the fan art he had made for his book. He was such an idiot! Danny Fenton surely would be-
"Oh this is amazing! Do you have any prints I can buy off of you?"
Damian will swear up and down he did not faint.

“Favorite hero - go!”
Tim didn’t even look up as he continued to type up his report for the night, “Dick Grayson.”
Jason scoffed, “Way to use your listening ears Timbers, Duke asked who’s your favorite hero, not your favorite brother.”
“I heard and I answered. Dick Grayson. If he’s Robin? Robin is my favorite hero. Now he’s Nightwing? Nightwing is absolutely the coolest hero to ever exist. He’s acting as Batman? Obviously Batman’s the best.”
Dick grinned brightly at Jason, smug in a way only older siblings can be.
“My. Favorite. Hero. Is. Dick. Grayson. From the day I first meet him, to the day I discovered his hero identity, to becoming a part of his legacy, to the first time he called me his brother, to today and till the day we’re both dirt and worms, my big brother will always be my favorite hero. You use your listening ears.”
Several of the others made faces or rolled their eyes at dirt and worms part of his rant but Dick only laughed quietly and hugged Tim so tightly that Tim felt the air being slowly but steadily pushed out of his lungs. Tim made no complaints but did roll his eyes, though no one but Cass could tell if it was at Jason or Dick.
“I can not find fault in your decision,” Damian weighed in, “And obviously, Father is your second favorite, thus your third favorite must also be of equal valor?”
Tim huffed and wiggled his way out of Dick’s loving embrace, “Who said B was my second favorite?”
Everyone blinked at him and he grinned, the exact same expression on his face as had been on Dick’s a few minutes prior, submitted his report, grabbed his Zesti off the ground beside him, and took advantage of Bruce and Alfred entering the cave to escape any more questions.
“Good night!” Dick called after him.
“Night!” Tim waved behind him.
“Well, I think I’m a strong contender for second favorite,” Tim heard Stephanie say and someone’s muffled response before the grandfather clock closed behind him.

so, Batman #147… rambling about the difference in how Zdarsky portrays the two current Robins
this is a fantastic run for Tim, and very much written like a return to form of what plenty consider the best dynamic duo, but even more so "the best Robin". once Damian's introduced in this run, Zdarsky really makes sure you still know that lol
1. "We don't need anyone else" VS "I need my family"
#147 clearly exemplifies the contrast, so i'll go through it first. Damian, having fallen for Zurr's lie and accepted him as the real Bruce, goes so far as to say in the very first page "We don't need anyone else." it's cold colors, machinery, and hollow declarations of "father and son" for these two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
towards the ending, Tim has deduced where the real Bruce is hiding and brings him food expecting Bruce's knack for self-neglect. it's all warmth, sunshine, and mutual understanding - also a cute back and forth of "Batman and Robin" between them. on top of this, where Damian isolates Batman & Robin from family, Tim is the one to remind Bruce about "helping each other." Bruce heartily agrees with "I need my family" for a weighty end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
along with this parallel, from #138 Tim makes it clear that even in opposition, he's only ever trying to help Bruce. Damian was still on the wrong side with Zurr-induced-Bruce here at the time too 😭
Tumblr media
2. Tim's independence as both a hero and partner
Tim is written as the ideal Robin to Bruce's Batman, and has made Robin its own independent hero on equal footing rather than a sidekick - it's made in statements by both Tim and Bruce, and through the entire narrative. he takes initiative and tries to foresee what would ultimately help Bruce. beyond being great partners, there's many bits showing their emotional connection ("i'm scared of being lost, but i'm more scared of losing you, Bruce" hit me like a bag of bricks). tbh this almost could be a Batman and Robin run lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
added the first panel from #126 of Tim declaring he's his own hero outside of Bruce, proven plenty especially in his backups in #131-134!! the other panels are a few highlights from #128, #130, and #135 of the partnership between Tim and Bruce
granted it's Zurr, but Damian is mostly seen following orders and given pensive looking panels when there's something concerning. While Tim continued to represent Batman's ideals during his own solo quest to find Bruce, Damian doesn't question or take action against "Bruce's" sudden shift in ethics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #134 Backup - Tim showing support toward Toyman VS Batman #146 - Zurr and Damian confront Harley as she pleads about her change of heart
another kiinda parallel in #147 is Bruce acknowledging Tim's hard work to become Robin compared to Damian who's out here going Batman and Robin/Father and Son. i don't think it's an intended parallel but just the state of continuing to show Tim in a better light - Tim put in the effort "to become the second-best Robin" while Damian is Robin because..."son." supposedly less effort on his part too, because LOA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
second pic is from Batman/Catwoman The Gotham War: Scorched Earth, felt fitting to add since Tim mentions needing to "know everything" in both. and the humble brag. which ofc Tim believes Dick is the best!! but also. jic we didn't know Tim is the best current Robin sdfgh
3. Damian's blind loyalty as "Bruce's son"
there's a weight to the Robin title when regarding Tim, whereas Damian's "Robin" role is excess and counterintuitive. he's delegated to desperate sidekick to Bruce, as well as becoming an obstacle to the family. being Robin only seems significant to Damian in how it ties himself to his father, and his single Robin quality is a loyalty that's been written to an extreme fault. the only positive angle i could see this in is Zdarsky aiming to put Damian in a sympathetic light in how far Damian was willing to fall to stay by his father's side, hence, fooled by that nightmare story/confession. the problem with this is that we have not seen a single emotional connection between the two in this run, so why should we care about that relationship.
Tumblr media
also, Damian constantly bringing up his position as Bruce's son just makes him look entitled? since Bruce rightfully expressed his claim of having the others as his sons too (with the unfortunate exclusion of his daughter)! so it's like a "lol you're not that special" vibe when looking at it from the outside?? ykw concerning #138, Damian saying "You're the one trying to destroy my father" also could have been in contrast to Tim saying "We'll help our dad" at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zdarsky seems to believe the only meaningful part of Damian being Robin is he's the son of Bruce, and not a single nod to any noble aspect Damian's achieved beyond that. we're constantly reminded of Tim's greatest hits as Robin, from taking on the mantle to pull Bruce out of darkness (#135, #138), mastermind a whole takedown (Gotham War: Scorched Earth), and always being on the same wavelength with Bruce etc. the entire run sings Tim's praise, and it's deserved!! my problem is how it's in stark contrast to Damian's portrayal of being the other Robin who's only special because he believes he's the greatest son and wants to be at Bruce's side.
so all this to say, if your fav is Tim YOU'RE EATING WELL!! personally as a chronic enjoyer of things, this has been an entertaining run! as a chronic enjoyer of Damian, it's definitely not for many of his fans at this point in time.
i did like this part!! his grin!!

The Manson’s and the Wayne’s are distant cousins and when bruce gets a call from his cousin Jeramy that they need somewhere to send his daughter to for the summer so she could experience more from the world. Bruce thinks why not and says yes.
Fast forward to the day she arrives, everyone is nervous, damian is angry because this random unknown (“she’s not an unknown, damian, she is your cousin who we have already researched”-Dick) teen girl living in the manor.
They were expecting some snobby rich kid and instead got a chaotic Goth chick who didn’t want to be here either.
Her and Damian become besties, Sam the cool older cousin and Damian the angry duckling that follows her around because she also likes animals and swords (even though I feel sam would be more into blunt force weapons)
With in the first day, Sam figured out that bruce was batman and found her way into the bat cave(used context clues when she followed a sleep deprived Tim) because she cant keep her nose out of anything. And at dinner looks bruce in the eye and says, “so, your Batman.” To everyone’s horror.
Tim dying because she is like an older meaner Damian but less stabby
Dick is excited that the baby of the family has made a friend
Cass likes Sam and teaches her to blend into the shadows
Jason thinks is hilarious until she points out that she can feel that he had died then immediately likes he again when she manages to sucker punch the Joker after he called her little girl.
Bruce has a migraine
Thats not even including the ghost shenanigans that could happen!!!
Like also at dinner sam just looks at bruce, “so, why hasnt the justice leauge come and visited amity park. We called you guys enough times that you’d think you guys would at least send over someone to just take a look at all the ghosts”
And everyone just looks at her like, “wait what now?

I need Billy to get Clark Kent-ed in a fic and sent to cover a Wayne gala
Billy and Bruce meet, names are exchanged, and Bruce worries if this kid is doing okay and if there’s a father position open. Billy is there for some Wayne-Sivana partnership with Magnificus, asking a lot of well informed questions and acting like a little cherub.
Them bad guys break in, one has a gun to Billy’s head and Billy, in true street kid fashion and with the experience from his last 57 kidnapping attempts; bites the hand over his mouth, throws the guy whose twice his size over himself and twists his arm, and dismantles the gun before Batman swoops in and saves the rest of the day.
Batman checks on him, asking if he’s okay, and Billy drops the good kid act and straight up tells him to piss off because he’s not getting adopted by a furry man-child who lives a state away from his hometown
Any Robin or sidekick that was there just cheers the kid on from the roof top screaming “DODGED THAT BULLET!” after having spent the whole gala trying to keep them apart before Bruce could bust out the adoption papers

People who think damian secretly fanboys tim, looks up to him, is envious of his abilities (rather than status in the family and treatment by others), or thinks he's cool... what's it like to have the blandest interpretation of characters in the Fandom?

Anyone reblogging that out of context trash about Tim Drake please unfollow me, anyone who reblogs the follow-up garbage please block me so I don't have to, and, as someone who has actually been diagnosed with BPD, anyone who reblogs that armchair diagnosis about Tim Drake having BPD is welcome to fall into a sewer and drown.
Also the blog OP links to says "this is Lysical's fault". I love Lysical's fics, but it's always clear that she hates Tim, bases most of her fics in the period Tim was dead, and she has no trouble picking out only the best in Dick Grayson and giving him and Jason the sibling relationship that he and Tim had in canon. At least don't pretend you're an unbiased party or that you came into the fandom before the reboot annihilated everything we loved about the Batfam.
Also stop pitting Steph and Tim against each other! There was no abuse! Only two messed up kids who loved each other best they could, even though it wasn't enough.

Tim Drake is usually called the smart Robin which I like don't get me wrong but all of the bats are smart and I do love my Tim but my Tim is just a bit different.
I want Tim drake half out of his mind fucking with Lex Luthor while he chugs 6 monsters. I want baby stalker who was heavy breathing putting together a red string murder board at 3:00 am with very sketchy stalker pictures of the Wayne's.
I want titans tower where Tim knew it was Jason and is about to home alone that shit. While also internally fanboying and giving Jason tips on how to murder the joker.
Tim Drake who doesn't get disturbed by Ra on Tuesday cause he knows Tim has plans with young Justice and Tim will destroy all of his bases again if he is bothered.
Tim who thought Damian was adorable and everytime he makes an attempt on his life gets a new paint set because that is the Drake way and no little brother of his isn't gonna understand premeditated murder.
TIM Drake who owns up to the clones and the boy who Kon knows is a little murdery gremlin and loves that about his boyfriend.
My Tim drake need to be balls to the wall fucking insane or I don't want that shit.

Halloween prompts year 2 day 27
Danny watched on as Nightwing- his literal soulmate- did an amazing backflip off of a roof, spinning several times in the air before landing gracefully on the top of another building. Nightwing was so graceful and in control of himself and his movements. Danny found himself wondering how Nightwing would move as a ghost.
Heck, how would he look as a ghost? Would he have white hair like Phantom or blue hair like Ember? Maybe green hair like Kitty and Youngblood, but Ghostwriters hair was still black as a ghost so maybe he'd be like that?
Shaking his head he moved to get up from where he had been leaning up against an old chimney, Nightwing having long since left. How should he go about this anyway? He can't just go up to a famous vigilante and be like, "Hi I'm your soulmate. Wanna go out with a complete stranger who has no way of proving anything that they're saying?"
And there was the real issue. If Nightwing asked how he had seen his soulmark Danny could just tell the truth: he had seen it in that nasty fight last week where hoards of ninjas had attacked them and tore up Nightwings suit enough to see it from his vantage point.
But if he asked about Dannys soul mark...well that was harder to explain.
His own soulmark used to be on his torso before he died but after he stepped out of the portal it was gone. As in there wasn't a trace of it anywhere. It was one of the reasons he never went anywhere without a shirt anymore because he knew someone would eventually notice its absence.
He could probably explain it as Phantom to make it more believable but he would have to get Nightwing to know Phantom more for him to trust him.
Which lead back to "how do I introduce myself to him without earning an electrified stick to the face?"
After a phone call with Jazz, where she basically gave him the long winded version of "Just be yourself! You were made for eachother after all." He decided that yeah! He can use his ghostly instincts to guide him! Whats the worst that could happen?
Cue Nightwing and the other bats in the batcave a week later, crowded around a table covered in pictures of captured villians and thugs. All of them were the same. All of them showed a subject laying on thier bellys hog tied, and in a cage with the words "horny jail" etched into it.
The only real connection that all of these lowlifes had was them making crude threats, creepy unsolicited advances, catcalling or otherwise being a creep towards Nightwing.
Conclusion: Nighting either has a fanboy following him around getting in over his head or he has a violent stalker staking a claim
Robin disagreed with his siblings. Clearly whoever is doing this is defending Graysons honor and Damian approves.
Danny thinks he's doing a good job in the "showing soulmate that you are capable of protecting him from weirdos" maybe he should get Nightwing an Anti-Creep Stick of his own...

I usually dislike de-aging fics with Tim. They tend to make him all vulnerable and sad looking (like a kicked puppy). Unless he's like 5 (and even then), Tim is an unhinged menace. He stalked Dick and traveled all the way to New York alone before getting the Robin mantle. That panel of him poking his head from behind a dumpster terrifies me.
Tim as a child is Tim with less impulse control, which is saying something. That kid would probably punch a cop for the hell of it and then somehow successfully pin the blame on Comissoner Gordon.
Suffice to say, I was nervous about starting "Fatherless Behavior" by lemonlimemadness and I'm so glad I was wrong. That fic had me laugh several times, and the humor is very similar to the fic "Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust (filling up my coffee cup)" by LilaVaporizer9000. It's Tim living off pure spite and audacity. My favorite kind of Tim.
If you'd like another crack fic that's come out recently, "Deadly Weapon #184: A Fan's Squeal" by quotidian_void is about the fandom idea that Jason's Tim's Robin, but the fanboy vibes of Tim are cranked past maximum.
Lastly, a BAMF Tim fic with Lady Shiva, Batman, Dick, Jason, Damian, and a little bit of Oracle is "some kind of murder" by nightskywrites.

DP x DC Idea or whatever
Danny who’s a massive fanboy of Batman (their universes are separate), so when he’s transported into the Batman comics he’s excited and decides to get the “characters” (Batman, Robin, Red Robin, Etc) gifts for whatever reason
thing is ghosts have very different idea of gifts… so Danny gifts them things that aren’t supposed to be gifts (Giving Joker’s severed finger to Jason, who’s doesn’t really care he’s just happy Joker got hurt, Ancient weapons to Damian, etc) and Danny believes it’s all normal
