Winter Essentials (Revised)
Aveeno Skin Relief Body wash - This is fantastic. I can't believe I didn't buy this before.
Aveeno Dermexa cream - helping me with dry, itchy skin. This has ceramides and colloidal oatmeal.
Sebamed sensitive skin soap - I use this on face.
Bioderma Sensibio Gentle Soothing Micellar Cleansing Foaming Gel - I got this sample face wash that I've been using on for a week. It's really nice. But I find it a bit expensive. So I won't buy full pack.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Daily Soothing Cleanser - I got two bottles of this. I use it to remove make-up. Sometimes I use this in the morning as well.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - I use this 2-3 times a week.
0.05 Tret cream - still trying to get into a working routine with this. I haven't figured out.

My *Updated Winter Skincare Routine + Some Tips 🎀
I have tried out some new products and have found some new personal favorite skincare items for the winter! I figured I’d update on my current morning and night skincare routines and add in some tips (based on things I’ve been doing that have been working for me). I am not a dermatologist or professional, these are sino,y my routines and what works for me!
🩷 Morning Skincare Routine
Wash my face with Cerave Hydrating Face Wash and cold water
Pat dry with a paper towel
Apply Jumiso Vitamin C Serum
Follow up with Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream
Use sunscreen, Beauty of Joseon Rice + Probiotics SPF 50
that’s my simple little morning routine! I love it so much more for than my super complicated routine because sometimes it’s nice to just get in and get my skincare done for the morning.
🩷 Night Skincare Routine
these two things stay the same every night, but the rest differs by night
Oil cleanse on dry skin with Anua Pore Control Cleansing Oil
Follow up with using the B.Lab Matcha Foam Hydrating Cleanser
Monday/Wednesday/Friday - Exfoliating
Use the Cosrx AHA/BHA Toner
Pat in the Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence
Use the Torriden Dive In Low Molecule Hyalorounic Serum
Next, I pat in the Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum
I use the Cerave Eye Repair Cream on my under eyes
Lastly, I use the Cosrx All In One Snail Cream
Tuesday/Thursday - Retinal Eye Cream Days
I use the Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner
Next, I’ll use the Torriden Dive In Low Molecule Hyaluronic Serum
Then I’ll occasionally use the Skin 1004 Centella Asiática Ampoule serum
Then I Pat a bit of the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Cream under my eyes
Lastly, I lock it all in with my Etude Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream
Saturday - Basic Day
I’ll use the I’m From Rice Toner on this day
Then I’ll use the Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Followed by either the Anua Peach Nicain Serum OR the Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum
I’ll Pat the Cerave Eye Repair Cream into the under eye area
Then I lock it all in with Etude Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream
Sunday - Full Self Care Day
Before double cleansing, I use the Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Face Mask (I love her)
Then I double cleanse
Then I’ll use the Anua Toner Pads
Then I use my Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence
Then I use either of my Hyaluronic Serums depending on how I feel
Then I’ll use the Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
Cerave Eye Cream of course
Then I use the Cosrx All In One Snail Cream
Every Night -
I pat a little Hyaluronic acid serum into my lips and seal it with Vaseline
a lot of products, yes, but I went crazy and bought a bunch of skincare and now I’m using it and my skin loves all of it honestly! My skin is not super sensitive so I use everything within reason in a way that won’t irritate it. For me, I know what works for my skin and what doesn’t, and that’s been the most helpful thing. Now, for some tips,
🩷 Skincare Tips
Apply vitamin C to dry skin! I’ve heard this helps with absorption and the way the serum works!
Pat face dry, do not rub! Rubbing irritates the skin and pulling on it aggressively like that isn’t good long term
Use clean paper towels! May be a bit wasteful but it’s a lot cleaner then using a face towel that you wash once a week
Apply Hyaluronic Acid to damp skin for better absorption!
Apply all serums to your clean fingers to pat into skin as dragging the droppers across your skin can collect bacteria and what not
Always use sunscreen! I myself sometimes forget or I skip it and that’s just not good for your skins health long term
drink your water!!! Hydrated skin starts from within, lovelies
Use products that work for your skin type! Avoid fragrances if you have sensitive skin, avoid snail mucin if you have a dust allergy, etc
Cold water in the morning to refresh your skin and wake you up
if I've washed my face + done my skincare the night before, I do not wash my face in the morning. I simply splash with cold water and do my morning routine.
learn your skin type! this will help you determine what products will be beneficial for your skin type and goals. My skin bounces between oily and dry depending on the weather, if I did skincare, if my pillowcases are clean, etc.
don't touch your face, at least not with dirty hands. always make sure your hands are clean before touching your face
don't pop acne! not only with this leave the chance of scarring, but it spreads the bacteria from one pimple to the rest of your face
brush your teeth before doing skincare. when you brush your teeth after, you may rub off the stuff you've applied or mix it in, which is not the best for your skin
those are all the tips I currently use in my everyday life regarding my skin! I hope this was useful!
til next time lovelies 🩷

No one asked for a skincare routine, but y’all are getting one anyway because maybe this will help me stick with the routine bc I have definitely slacked off for the past like…6 months lol
Tumblr media
So here is my current lineup!
I start with the Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and this has worked SO well for me! I was using a $50 cleanser before but tbh..it was making my already sensitive skin breakout even more 😩
Next we have the serums! So, I swear by the cocokind vitamin c glow serum. A little bit goes a long way with this stuff
Then I really love how affordable The Ordinary serums are so I use their hyaluronic acid as a nightly treatment.
My last serum I use is also by The Ordinary and it is their Retinol in squalane every other night.
Depending on how dry my skin is, I will double up on moisturizer.
I really love Pacifica’s skincare line and I am almost out of their vegan ceramide moisturizer and it is sooo good.
I also love Peach & Lily for their matcha pudding moisturizer. It’s amazing on sensitive dry skin and especially now that we’re heading into the colder months!
Finally, I use the r.e.m beauty under eye cream every night
Also, I exfoliate whenever I feel like my skin is feeling particularly dry/clogged and I absolutely LOVE good molecules pineapple exfoliating powder
Tumblr media
I am trying to remember to wear sunscreen everyday and I managed to reapply when needed to today and idc what it takes, but I’m sticking with it!! Sunscreen is soo important but I truly think it’s a sensory thing for me because I just don’t like the feeling of anything being on my face. I’ll hardly ever wear makeup bc sometimes the feeling is just too much for me to handle

all right u obscene fucks some of you don't have a skincare-obsessed sister and it shows
alright so anyone who shaves their no no square is going to know what im talking about so just bare with me. some of us are too broke to afford a wax (i have eight dollars in my spending account rn), so here's what ur gonna do. everyone whos shaved that area has most definitely experienced irritation, ingrowns, bumps, and itchiness. this is not good, especially for those of us with a history of sh. that alone has triggered multiple relapses for me, cus why does my body itch? and then my brain spirals from there
if its been a while since u've shaved? no worries stink i didn't use to be regular either. if its been a while and you have a bit more hair, make sure to trim the area carefully, with a sanitized pair of scissors.
dry brush the area, you can get a dry brush at target, i got mine for five dollars
gently exfoliate the area, i use a home made one w sugar, oil, and dr bronners unscented soap. i use unscented because i have keratosis pilaris, eczema, and sensitive skin. use unscented soap, not no Japanese cherry blossom ass shit from bath and body works. do you want a yeast infection? unscented is the way to go.
get clean razor, i switch mine out every month or so. i use harrys because they're marketed towards men so a closer shave w more blades. before u do anything w the razor, run it under warm water, if the pressure in your showerhead changes switch it to the highest pressure and rinse the blade to get any gunk out of there
drop the shaving cream, the conditioner, whatever u use. drop it. switch for coconut oil instead, unscented as to not irritate the area.
at first go with the direction of hair growth, stopping to rinse the razor and the area every few strokes. then go side to side, and up and down.
as soon as ur finished rinse the area with freezing water as to close/tighten the pores!!
when ur out of the shower use either after shave, or witch hazel. i like to use aqua velva after shave, it smells nice, and also marketed towards a male audience so it actually fucking works. pour a little bit on a cotton round, wash rag, or toilet paper and apply it to the area. it'll sting a little bit, but that's the tightening and toning of the area, don't worry. for those of my afab friends do not put it in there. only on the skin outside of it!! no one wants a yeast infection, or a uti, we don't do that here. (however if you do get a uti or yeast infection, boric acid suppositories at target, azo cranberry tablets and apple cider vinegar tablets. do what you will with that. miasaurus on youtube has great videos on these topics, an ex-stripper and also incredibly funny) tend skin is also a great option but really expensive, when my parents were together my mom got my bald-headed ass daddy a big thing of tend skin for his birthday.
moisturize with unscented lotion, i use cetaphil on that area and coco butter everywhere else
in the showers following ur shave down there, use a salicylic acid face wash on that area. i use cerave because i got it cheap with ulta points, i would recommend cerave because it's formulated with ceramides to keep your skin barrier healthy as well as being unscented. salicylic acid is an acne medication that also helps prevent ingrown hair and itchiness.
moisturize moisturize moisturize!
repeat as necessary friends! go fuck that person bald down there. or don't, whatever floats ur boat. if you wanna be smooth down there (cus its fucking comforting), go be smooth if you wanna!
my mom or my older sister did not teach me this, so i had to figure out what works too embarrassed to ask for help.

干性皮肤 要注意补水、补油、防晒、防止损伤、补充胶原蛋白. Dry skin Pay attention to moisturizing, supplementing oil, SPF, preventing loss, supplementing collagen. 中性皮肤 算是比较完美的肤质,要注意防止损伤,保持现有状态
Normal skin Considered a rather perfect skin type, you need to pay attention to preventing loss, maintain your current skin status.
油性皮肤 注意清洁、控油、补充水分和保湿
Oily skin Pay attention to cleansing, oil control, moisturizing and hydrating. 混合性皮肤 根据不同肤质区域分开护理,T区注意控油,V区注意补水保湿和防止损伤. Combination skin Treat combination skin according to different skin areas separately, pay attention to oil control within your T-zone, pay attention to hydrating and moisturizing and preventing loss in your V-zone.
Sensitive skin (not irritated/allergic reaction skin) Since this skin type doesn't hold water well, the skin barrier is damaged, thus you should pay attention to repairing, anti-inflammation, preventing various irritants and losses, as well as sun damage during skincare. It is recommended that you use gentle and non-irritating products that have soothing ingredients (vitamin E, ceramide etc.)
不化妆也要每天卸妆 -> even if you don't put on make-up, you still need to use make-up remover/oil cleanser everyday
千万不要用任何含有酒精的护肤品 -> under no circumstances use any skincare products containing alcohol
爽肤水主要作用是对皮肤二次清洁 -> the main function of toner is to double-cleanse your skin
敷面膜刺痛是因为皮肤缺水 -> the pain/tingling from applying face masks is due to your skin lacking moisture
洗澡时毛孔扩张,污垢更容易深入毛孔将其撑大 -> when you bathe, your pore enlarge, pollutants and more can easily penetrate through your pores which can stretch your pores
收敛水可以收毛孔 -> astringent can reduce pores
衰老是从25岁才开始 -> aging starts at age 25
涂眼霜长脂肪粒是因为太油 -> developing milia from applying eye cream is due to excessive amounts of oil

6. do you have a favorite quote?
oooh not a quote per se, (and generally I can't settle on a favourite anything lol) but let me share a poem from Chris Tse in his anthology, How to be Dead in a Year of Snakes.
This one is my fav at the moment. I read the whole anthology in one sitting a few years ago and cannot praise it highly enough. [TW: racism, murder] - it discusses racism; murder; the way POC names are reduced to no more than representations of acts of violence done to them; the simultaneous glorification and spectacle of white murderers whose names and lives are remembered in the media for the atrocities they commit, while the voices of those they enact that violence upon are forgotten and buried.
It's so so so well written!! (also really looking forward to getting my hands on his queer anthology, He So Masc, which I haven't read yet, but I'll probably find my next favourite poem in ✨)

20. favorite skincare products?
My skin is super sensitive (she's just like me omg), so I really love things that don't have fragrance, are super hydrating, and work to restore the skin's moisture barrier. KLAIRs as a whole is just *chef's kiss*, I freaking 💖love💖 that brand! But here are some of my personal favs
Cleanser
Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash
Toner
KLAIRs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner
NEOGEN - Real Ferment Micro Toner
SIMPLE - Micellar Cleansing Water
Serum
THE ORDINARY - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (actual godsend)
KLAIRS - Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop (another godsend)
THE PLANT BASE - Quesera Ceramide
NEOGEN - H2 Dermadeca Serum Spray
Moisturiser
SIMPLE - Hydrating Light Moisturiser w Vit B5+E
MISSHA - Super Aqua Cell Renew Essential Moisturiser (WHY is it so expensive though 😭)
KLAIRS - Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask (love love love)
Sunscreen
NEUTROGENA - Ultra Sheer Face Lotion SPF50+
I'm still looking for a good sunscreen tbh, the sun is brutal in NZ and I'm white, so... 😬 lmao
25. what inspires you?
omg, everything and anything!! I'm taking this in a "what inspires you in terms of your art/writing" kind of way - most recently, music is inspiring me tons, especially watching the MVs for DPR Ian's songs. He is such a talented artist, and the way he explores mental health through the visual imagery in his self-directed videos is just on another level of artistry. Dude is so cool. Everything he creates is so vulnerable and real while being so pretty, I love it!

hiya aléks !!!!! I would loveee to know your top 5 favorite skincare products <3
omg yayyy hi jade!!! so happy you sent this because i have recently restructured my skincare routine and i have some great new faves because of this 💞 bear in mind as i list my faves that i have dry and dehydrated, very reactive/sensitive skin that is acne prone and with mild rosacea so my product choices are always going to be concerned with reducing inflammation and soothing and just packing hydration lol, but a lot of the products i love are useful for many different types of skin in different routines!
hypochlorous acid!!! i have been wanting to try one for years because the benefits people tend to see are so remarkable, and indeed as soon as i started using it in my evening routine i instantly had reduced acneic activity and my skin has been much less reactive recently. i don’t think the brand really matters but i use one from clinisoothe simply because it’s the only one available in sweden.
illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream. this is the essential moisturizer for me honestly i’ve been using it for years now and it is such an incredible product to me. i use it year round morning and night (although recently i’ve been trying another moisturizer in the morning with good results) and it just. works. protective, restorative and ACTUALLY deeply moisturizing. for other skin types i imagine it’d be too much in the am especially but then i’d still recommend it for a night cream tbh since it doesn’t have a greasy finish or anything.
cosrx propolis toner. have used this for years as well and it’s served me so fucking well by being both deeply hydrating and incredibly soothing. i’ve recently been trying out new toners as well but i definitely am still of the opinion that the propolis is the best one i have used so far.
isntree yam root cleanser. i’ve never before really used a cleanser that i found both effective and soothing and even slightly moisturizing. i’ve had to settle for years with cleansers saying they’re for dry skin but that still leave my skin feel stripped. however this one is remarkable, i have truly no notes i love it so much.
skin 1004 hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum is hands down the most incredible sunscreen i’ve ever used. i recently switched to it from the beauty of joseon rice sunscreen i’ve been using for like two years now because that one has gotten so pricey, and they do have the same base formula so i was confident i’d enjoy the 1004. however, while boj is particular efficient at delivering a LOT of dewyness to my skin, the 1004 reaches not quite that same level but is still very much dewy enough for me AND it is also just insanely soothing. i fucked up my barrier through a product reaction in february and had been struggling for 2 months to get back to normal and one thing that kept lingering was the stinging sensation after applying sunscreen. however, when i switched to the skin 1004 spf literally within 2 days the issue was gone. like magic.
send me top 5 asks!

July favs?
Lego Icons Orchid Plant and Lego Flower Bouquet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love Lego and I love flowers so these are literally a dream come true. I've been obsessing over Lego flowers for the longest time and now that we have moved into our new home I thought it would be fun to build my own Lego flowers and decorate our new space. It doesn't take much time to build these and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The Flower Bouquet does not come with a vase which is something to keep in mind when displaying them. While I am not the biggest fan of the long leaves that are included in the Bouquet they can still be positioned in a way that complements the overall arrangement. I especially love the color of the flowers, they look stunning in person and the different colors make it very vibrant, they look so cute and my inner child is bursting with joy whenever I go up the stairs and catch a glimpse of them.
Braun Silk Épil 3
Tumblr media
When I was 13 and asked my grandma about hair removal, she went to our cabinet, came back and handed me a pair of rubber gloves and told me to pull out the hair because that's how the girls in her village did it back in the day (I couldn't believe she was for real) and this epilator reminded me of that experience. It has been sitting in my closet for the longest time untouched after the initial day of buying and trying it. I was almost passing out from the excruciating pain and couldn't fathom how on earth anyone could endure using such a device. I have been going to my laser hair removal sessions since and have done around 20 sessions so my hair thickness has decreased significantly and the other day curiosity got the best of me and I tried it again and pain wasn't as unbearable anymore, in fact, I kind of began to enjoy the way my skin feels all prickly when epilating. The end result is undeniable though - my skin becomes super smooth and hairless for the next few weeks.
Cerave Lait Hydrant
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am skinny but my weight tends to fluctuate a bit depending on my medication use as it affects my appetite and I want to protect my skin so I always make sure I dry brush and hydrate my skin as much as I can with a focus on my butt and upper legs. I apply this immediately after taking an ice cold shower in the morning. I really like the Cerave products I have tried thus far, their formulations are effective and suited for sensitive skin, filled with great ingredients like ceramides, HA, glycerin and their moisturizers have a light formula and don't leave my skin feeling greasy like my Bioderma one. I opt for this one during the summer months, Cerave is a very affordable brand, it doesn't break me out, there is no scent and I have never met anyone who has had complaints about their products.

Ceramides are definitely one of my favourite skincare ingredients. I have dry and sensitive skin, so ceramides work well to keep my skin moisturized and healthy, while also helping my skin barrier. If you’re looking for a good ceramide serum, I highly recommend the Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum.
I am not a professional. I’m just someone who loves skincare and wants to share my research and opinions.
