“how many times have you done that?”
peter is standing behind you, leaning against the wall, probably ruining your focus, or your makeup, or your sanity. he’s probably staring just to mess with you.
you refrain from smiling in the mirror. wipe a smudge with your nail. “i don’t know, peter,” you meet his eyes, and his nefarious smirk. “how many times have you watched me do it?”
“i got lost somewhere around the first time.”
you laugh at him, crumbling the napkin you’ve been using, now filled with kiss marks, and turning it around so you can throw it at peter. “are you sick?” you ask him.
instead of answering, he licks his lip and unfolds the napkin, staring at the red marks, creases and tireless efforts arranged in a messy pattern. “this is like art.”
“why are you acting like you’ve never seen anyone wear lipstick before?”
“what?” he asks, hand to his chest. “i cant watch you get ready? i’m banned from being in the bathroom when you are?”
“yes, and yes.”
it does not escape your notice when peter tucks the napkin into his pocket for safekeeping.
he shrugs. “i don’t mind breaking the rules.”
you scoff at him and pat his shoulder as you walk past him through the doorway. “i would’ve locked you out if i knew you were going to be weird about it.”
“weird? how am i being weird?”
“you were lurking. you’re still lurking.”
“i’m talking to my girlfriend. that’s part of our contract.”
“you’re following me.”
peter smiles. “well, i like you.”
you roll your eyes, almost—almost—smiling when you feel his arms wrap around your waist. “please don’t make me argue about your stalker like tendencies.”
“we don’t have to argue,” peter says, kissing the space beneath your ear. his breath is hot.
“i need to put my shoes on, peter.”
he smiles, his teeth clashing against your skin like a dreadful reminder. some type of jumpscare—minus the fact that you merely lean into him, sans jumping. “we can spare fifteen minutes.”
“how can you be thinking about anything besides the fact that we’re already late to meet may?”
he nibbles on the skin by your collarbone, then licks it, as reprieve. “it must be the lipstick.”
“you’ve literally seen me with lipstick before. i wore some on our first date.”
“‘s probably why i like it so much.”
his lips are needy as they crawl around your skin. his hands are stationary, but they pose their own threat as they lurk.
“peter, we have to go.”
“i’m not known for my punctuality,” he spins you around, his lips curled in mischief, “you know.”
“i’m aware.”
you refuse to indulge him. your brows furrow, your hands held in the air—just so you can avoid accidentally touching him. purposefully.
“then why are you so worried?” peter asks, kissing your cheek.
��i’m not kissing you,” you say, instead of answering.
“you’re not?” peter pouts like a child. he is far too grown.
“no.”
“how come?”
you try to pull away from him, but, shockingly, peter is stronger than you are. your will is weak. “you’re going to smudge my lipstick. i just finished.”
“you have more, don’t you?”
“not the point.”
“what?” he asks, his voice so serious and teasing. “you don’t want to kiss me?”
“no, i do not.”
you look away from him, admiring a wall that has always been there.
“are you sure?” peter asks, ducking so he can catch your eyes again, because he is nothing if not cruel.
you break, pouting. “peter,” you whine, “we’re not going to be late again.”
“i think we are.”
“you can kiss me when we get home later,” you promise, trying again to wiggle out of his grasp.
“that is a terrible compromise.”
“you won’t compromise,” you snap back. “what else am i supposed to do?”
peter grins, tilting his head. “okay. i have an idea. how about i kiss you, and then we leave? you don’t even have to kiss back, even though we’d both prefer it that way.”
“i’ll kiss you,” you mock him. “you’re the worst negotiator i’ve ever met.”
“then how come we haven’t left yet?”
you scowl at him, and he scowls back, but his eyes are alight.
your skin is ravenous with an ache to touch him, he’s so close that kissing him would be nothing—merely breathing, really—but you don’t want to lose this game to peter. and you dont want him to stop looking at you.
he pretends to check a watch. “hmm, it’s getting awfully late.”
“are you british all of the sudden?”
peter grins, biting his lip before he tries to bite you. you lean away. “if you like my accent, all you have to do is say so.”
“i like it when you get out of my way, and stop trying to sabotage me. i like that a lot.”
“no clue what you mean, dear.”
you roll your eyes and manage to cross your arms in his hold.
“i wonder how we could solve this,” peter muses, tapping his finger on your waist. “it’s a big problem.”
“i could leave you behind and have lunch with may myself.”
“that’s one option.”
you roll your eyes again.
“i was thinking something else, though,” peter says, and he’s closer now, but you’re sure that you never saw him move. “something more… proactive.”
“shove it, peter.”
“you don’t even want to hear it?”
you sigh, leaning your chest into him, out of pure delusion. “fine. what?”
peter smiles at you, eyes catching eyes.
the look on his face is soft, delirious. he’s got that look in his eyes, and that smile on his face, and he’s still staring at you like he’s mesmerized by whatever you’re doing.
“what?” you repeat, but softly, like you can’t find your voice in the chest cavity peters taken hold of.
“kiss me,” he says, softly, and it’s really not your fault that his lips are already brushing yours.
and it’s not your fault when you lean in, sighing in relief at the mere feel of him.
you’re almost breathless, from the tiniest of kisses.
but then you kiss peter again, and again, and your hands finally wrap around him—keeping hold of something real in this fake reality—and your voice isn’t your own when you groan at peter for making you do this.
you have evacuated your body. you have lost common sense.
but it doesn’t matter, because kissing peter has always made you forget all of that.
and it still does, when he pulls back, grinning like he’s won. “see?” he says, voice ragged. “it was simple.”
“we’re going to be late and it’s your fault.”
peter laughs, kissing you again, staring at your red lips. “gladly. i’ll take all the blame.”
“and you’re making it up to me later.”
“whatever you say,” he murmurs, thumb brushing your bottom lip.
he releases you and watches as you finally put on your shoes.
you don’t think it necessary to mention the red marks on his lips. it’s not like it’s your fault they’re there.

a/n: hiiiii this is my very first fic/drabble i’ve ever written and posted. my writing skills aren’t the best but i hope you enjoy 🥹 i hope to make more stories in the future. this is also all fiction and in no means am i trying to relate this to the members irl🫶🏽
“okay he should be coming home any minute now so you guys need to hide,” you say to all of your in laws. you check jungkook’s destination on your phone and he’s 1 minute away from the house.
his parents, older brother’s: jin, yoongi, hoseok, and namjoon, and their spouses and kids go to your back patio that you all decorated for the party. jimin and taehyung wanted to pull a prank on jungkook first but there was no time for that since jungkook was coming any second now.
ever since you and jungkook had moved from Busan a year ago, he hadn’t seen his family that entire time. you on the other hand, have some family in the states. you guys also couldn’t go to Busan because of work. jungkook yearned to see his family although he called and facetimed them almost everyday.
you hear the sound of jungkook’s car outside parking in the garage. soon after, his keys are opening the front door.
“baby i’m home!” jungkook says out loud as you get up from the couch in the living room hurrying to him at the front door.
“hi! how was work?” you say cheerfully as he takes off his shoes and you take his bag.
“eh. the same. you weren’t at the porch today?” he pouts, a look of sadness and confusion written all over his face because you always wait for him at the porch when he comes back home from work.
“sorry i was doing something,” you say hoping he doesn’t think too much about it. he only nods but when he finishes taking off his shoes he begins to notice the light makeup on your face and the outfit you’re wearing. its just a new floral patterned dress you recently got. you paired it with a necklace and matching earrings. it’s nothing special but definitely something you wouldn’t normally wear at home. you also styled your hair because you wanted to look presentable for the party tonight. you also didn’t have work today and did tell jungkook you’d be at home all day, so he knows you didn’t go out. he ogles at you and grabs you by the waist. you squirm at the sudden movement.
“baby, who told you to look so beautiful?” he asks you while looking at your lips leaning in for a kiss. you know that look on his face but you stop him with your hands on his chest. he’s taken aback by your reaction because it’s also something you normally wouldn’t do- refraining from a kiss.
you see the confusion on his face again, this time he furrows his brows.
“uhm i just wanted to dress up. i was getting bored.”
“you look gorgeous baby. don’t worry you won’t be bored for long,” he winks and leans in for another kiss. you stop him again. not because you don’t want to kiss, but because his family is definitely watching you guys from the back patio near the living room. the doors are made of glass and although they are hiding in the dark, you know they are definitely peeking at you two. you get shy and flustered by the thought of his parents seeing you two like this so you quickly remove his arms from your waist and head towards the kitchen.
“baby what happened? are you mad at me?” he says pouting. it hurts you that he may be thinking if he did anything wrong. he could never do anything wrong. jungkook has always showered you with nothing but love for the past year of your marriage and last 6 years of your relationship.
“no of course not. you just need to wash up first.” you say as a lame excuse for him to not touch you. you know if jungkook starts touching and kissing you things get heated real quick. and you certainly cannot let that happen now.
“but you always give me kisses everyday after work. sometimes a bit more” he winks. “and my birthday’s in two hours,” he whines, his doe eyes looking like a puppy, lips in a pout and frown. “i had such a long day today all i could think about was the bomb ass birthday se-“
“jungkook!” you quickly cut him off. your cheeks gone full red because of the embarrassment. you’re most definitely sure everyone heard that. you panic internally because the thought of his parents hearing that leaves you extremely embarrassed. not to mention, the kids are outside too, and you definitely do not want them wondering what sex is. you and jungkook have this thing where you’re not clingy or touchy around each other’s families. not because you’re scared they’d judge you or something but because you both like doing it in private, when it’s just the two of you. pda isn’t really your guy’s thing.
“aw come on baby. why are you getting so shy for” he laughs. “it’s just me and you here. please just tell me what i did wrong. is it cuz i left this morning while you were still asleep. i was running late and i didn’t wanna wake you because you had cramps last night and it’s the beginning of the month so your period might be coming and-“
“no no jungkook you didn’t do anything wrong. just please hurry and go wash up. then we’ll eat dinner,” you cut him off as you push him towards the stairs. you know the more words that comes out of his mouth, the more embarrassing it’ll be for the both of you. you’ll just let him take a shower before everyone surprises him.
“let’s take a shower together. you know, i had a really reallyyy loooong day and you can help me relieve some tension baby. tomorrow is my birthday after all.” he repeats, using the birthday card to try and convince you while you’re still pushing him towards the stairs. your silence says it all so he quickly retreats, turns around and grabs you by the waist. he carries you up and then places you on the kitchen counter. he stands between your legs, hands brushing your thigh as they slowly slide up under your dress.
“oh my gosh jungkook not now! put me down!” you whisper loudly. he’s confused why you’re whispering so he stops playing with your thighs. you push him away and quickly jump off the counter. you hurry to the living room but he’s faster. he grabs your wrists and pulls you towards him. he holds you with one hand on your waist while the other on the side of your face, thumb gently caressing your cheek. you turn your head to the side and you can clearly spot some of his brothers and their wives hiding behind the chairs and bushes. you only look for a few seconds but you still see them covering their kid’s eyes. “great” you think. you then turn back to jungkook and push his arms away from you. he’s always clingy but of course not when family are around. he doesn’t know that yet.
“baby i’m sorry but you know i can’t hold back when you look this hot. i was gonna wait for tonight but seeing you all dressed up for me,” he licks his lips leaning towards your face, “i was hoping for us to start now,” he says in his sultry voice that almost makes you risk it all.
luckily you’re saved from the embarrassment when taehyung slides the glass door to your back patio and enters the living room. “hate to break it to you but you can’t be so horny tonight baby.” jimin follows and says while laughing, “yeah baby, don’t mean to ruin the fun but you’ve got company.” they both mock jungkook. you laugh out loud, only now realizing how many times jungkook has called you baby ever since he stepped foot in the house.
jungkook releases his hands from you, his eyes go wide as he’s surprised by who’s in front of him. he then runs to hug his brothers. they all jump while hugging. you watch them with the biggest smile on your face. moments later, jungkook stretches out one of his arm for you to join, which you gladly do. the four of you are all circled in a tight hug, jumping up and down in the little circle. reunited after one long year, this is definitely a moment to take in.
“what’re you guys doing here? no one told me you were coming?” jungkook asks as you all slowly release each other from the hug.
“happy early birthday!” jimin says while ruffling jungkook’s hair.
“it was all y/n’s idea. we just wanted to surprise you little bro,” taehyung said as he wraps his arm around your shoulder.
“surprise!” you say with a big smile on your face looking at jungkook.
jungkook looks at you and quickly lifts you up, spinning you around. “thank you thank you thank you!!” he gives you a big fat kiss on the lips as he puts you back down. you laugh after. finally he gets to kiss you.
“anything for you, you big baby,” you say pinching his cheeks. he gets slightly embarrassed of the word now because he gets remembered of everything he said and did ever since he came home.
he turns to his brothers pointing his fingers at them. “you guys heard nothing.”
your cheeks turn pink from embarrassment. his brothers look at you while laughing. you cover your face with your hands hiding from your embarrassed face. they’re not the only one who heard everything, you three think.
“aw come on stop laughing. it was nothing funny,” jungkook says to the guys as he wraps his arms around your waist.
“well we’re not the only ones who found it funny” jimin winks at jungkook while taehyung bites his fist in his teeth holding himself from excessively laughing.
“w-what do you mean?” jungkook looks at you three confusedly. “who else heard?”
“close your eyes okay?” you say softly to him and he looks at you in confusion but complies nonetheless. you take his hand and slowly guide him to your back patio. jimin slides the door open while taehyung turns on the fairy lights you set up earlier today. it brightens up the entire patio space. jungkook can sense the change in lighting and squints his eyes.
“no peeking!” you exclaim and cover his eyes with your right hand. the other hand still holding onto jungkook so he doesn’t fall or get hurt. some of your nieces and nephews giggle. everyone is already out of their hiding spots and waiting to surprise jungkook.
“baby what did i just hear?” jungkook asks.
“you’ll see on the count of three okay?”
you look around and make sure everything is in place. all of the tablewear, flowers, candles and jungkook’s favorite foods displayed neatly on the long table. in the back near the pool are his cake and favorite desserts on the dessert table, and his gifts set on a different table. you even bought a cute bunny piñata because the kids (and jungkook) would definitely love it. your theme for today was just a nice, comfy, and chill outdoor party and with the help of your in-laws you were able to achieve that. it was everything you pictured~something you knew jungkook would love.
you nod at everyone so they were ready. you release your hands from jungkook’s face.
“okay 3…2…1…”
“SURPRISE!!!” you and everyone yell to jungkook when he opens his eyes. he opens his mouth wide in shock and immediately runs to hug his parents.
“i missed you guys sooo much.”
“we know sweetie. we did too.” his mom says and kisses his cheek.
“happy birthday son. we’re so proud of you.” his dad says shortly after.
you see jungkook’s eyes glistening and he looks like he’s on the verge of tears. you knew how much he missed his family and seeing them after so long would definitely make him feel emotional. he hugs his brothers and their spouses after, and then all of his nieces and nephews.
“i can’t believe you guys are all here. this doesn’t feel real. thank you guys seriously. this is the best birthday gift i could’ve asked for.”
you’re all touched by jungkook’s words. he has worked hard non stop all his life but seeing him now following his dream and working on things he is so passionate about is even more admiring. leaving everything behind back home was an extremely difficult decision for him. when he got the job offer in New York for one of the biggest gaming companies in the world, he was stoked, but knowing that he’d have to leave his family, his home, behind him was definitely not an exciting feeling. he was extremely grateful though to have you by his side but he did feel bad that you had to leave everything behind too, even though you constantly reminded him that wherever he is, you are there too. jungkook waited for the day he’d see his family again, so he looks at everyone taking in this joyous feeling.
“don’t thank us honey, your beautiful wife planned all of this. you are truly lucky to have y/n by your side.” you gush at his mom’s words and let out a soft “thank you” to her going over to give her a hug.
jungkook comes over to you and smiles so endearingly you feel like crying because how can your husband look so precious. he pulls you in a tight hug and whispers “i’m so lucky.”
the rest of the night is spent beautifully with everyone eating, singing, dancing, laughing, and partying. jungkook is having so much fun with his family and you look at him fondly with the biggest smile plastered on your face. how did you get so lucky to have such an amazing and caring husband, along with a beautiful family who adores you just as much as you do them.
when you go back inside to the kitchen to grab more drinks, you feel a light smack to your butt. you gasp turning around and finding your husband with a smirk on his face that you know too well. he pulls you to the corner where no one can see you guys through the glass doors.
jungkook lifts you up and hugs you so tight you start giggling. “thank you so much baby. i really don’t know what i did to deserve you. but just know i will continue to spend everyday of my life loving you and caring for you. you seriously don’t know how much you mean to me y/n.”
“i do jungkook, i do know and you mean the world to me and more,” you say as he settles you back down. you cup his face and pull him in a chaste kiss that’s sweet and tender. the one where all sounds are blocked and it’s just the two of you. he deepens the kiss and pulls you in closer, one hand on your waist, the other on your nape. you pull back not too long and stare at him, fingers brushing his soft, fluffy hair that’s parted in the middle. “i love you so much my love. happy birthday.”

“The average na’vi baby comes out around 2 feet. Way larger than our human newborn.” The man stands tall in front of a projector and screen.
“Now we all know the dangers of height enhancement surgery, am I right?” The men in the room start laughing. “Well, with the new budget I'm putting together a research team. Too look at the genes of those critters and see if it's possible to match their height. And of course it would give us an advantage to clear them out easier.”
He presses a button and a picture of you shows up. “This mama right here is a hybrid of two damn species. And we've been tracking her pregnancy from a distance, as these creatures are very hostile.” He pauses and nods. “I need to get more hands on. I need her. If we get hands on her we can track the rest of the pregnancy and do a few extractions.”
The men in the room begin to chatter amongst themselves and nod in agreement. 
“Sources tell me she's big enough to be carrying twins. Which means one, is at our disposal.”

“Class is almost over. Make sure to finish your Tulkun tattoo designs for the presentation next week.” You walked around the class looking down at the squiggly lines and patterns the children were drawing on their paper tulkuns.
“Alright stop!” You hold your hands up in a playful manner. “Time to go home.”
The children cheered and grabbed their items, bouncing out of the door in an instant. You giggled and began picking up the papers from the ground. 
“You shouldn't be leaning over like that.” 
You snapped up and smiled seeing Tonowari in the doorway. He mumbled to himself and began helping you with picking up the papers. Once you finished he stood and handed you the stack. “When are you taking your leave?”
“Once I feel it's time. I'm not going to take off when there's no need to.”
“Y/n. Your body is changing. I don't want you having to deal with-”
“I'm fine Tonowari.” You interrupted him. His ears flinched back and you walked over and placed a comforting hand on his cheek.
“I just want to take care of you.” He says quietly.
“You are.” You reassure him. “And you're doing a damn great job at it.” With that you place a kiss on his lips, kissing him deeply and passionately.. You knew since you got pregnancy Tonowari’s anxiety had been through the roof. He's seen his fair share of tough pregnancies during his years without a Tsahik, and now that it was finally him and Jakes turn he preferred you sit and do nothing.
“You cook for me?” You joked to lighten the mood. Tonowari smiled and grabbed your hand, walking out of the classroom and heading home.
The two of you entered the pod and were greeted by Jake. He smiled and placed a kiss on your cheek, before pulling a chair out and allowing you to sit.
“How is work Jake? Any updates?” You said as Tonowari placed a plate of food in front of you.
“What are you talking about?” He smiled and scoffed.
“You said something about the RDA last night with Tonowari.” 
He let out a large sigh, having thought you were asleep when he mentioned it. Another downside of being pregnant is that they refrained from talking about any battles or enemy movements with you, to avoid a rise in blood pressure.
Jake knew you weren't gonna let it go until he answered truthfully so he did. “Well helicopters have been spotted on the edge of the forest. So not close but eerily close.”
You nodded. “What do you think they're up to?”
“I'm actually not sure.” He said conflicted.
A few beats of silence passed between the three of you. Smiling,  you placed a hand on Jake's knee. “Whatever it is, I'm sure you'll figure it out.”
The rest of dinner consisted of bickering between the two, plans for the baby,  ideas for the nursery, and more comforting conversations about the future. Even though it was a normal occurrence for the three of you, it was the best way to wind down after a long day.
The next morning, you got up early with your two lovers and kissed them goodbye. Every morning before class you went to the edge of the reef to get some water time alone. You could feel that your babies were mostly Metkayina, because you couldn't stay away from the water long. You even needed to take the children in your class out for a swim to satisfy your cravings.
You rode out on your ilu and threw yourself into the water. You floated near the rocks that surrounded the reef because somehow it was cooler.
Closing your eyes, you floated face up in the water.
For a few minutes you were at zen, but then you felt an uncomfortable tugging at your neck and wrist. You opened your eyes and reached for your necklace when it snapped. Widening your eyes you dove in the water, looking for the necklace. It was the one Jake gave you, the one made of his human things. 
You swam down and out of the reef to grab the necklace, crossing the border to grab your prized possession. Before you could even reach the necklace a net quickly enveloped your entire body. You fought to get out of the net but you only tangled yourself even more.
You looked to see a large machine with bright lights holding the net, and it began whirring away. Taking you with it.

The children in the classroom sat attentively and quietly, waiting for you to walk in the door. They found it strange you weren't already here, like you usually were.
“Is school canceled?” One of the little girls asked.
“No. My big brother and sister went today as well.”
The kids began to chat amongst themselves until one of them stood. “I'm going to go tell somebody.”
The child left and found a warrior, who asked a citizen, who told another citizen, who told another warrior, who went straight to Tonowari.
It didn't take long for Tonowari to make it to the classroom, where he saw the large group of kids staring at him. “Has she not come?”
The children shook their heads.
He nodded and walked out the door to talk with a Metkayina warrior quietly. “I need you to find someone to watch the kids for the day. Then I need you to notify Jake Sully.”
The two men moved swiftly. Walking around the reef asking your whereabouts. Tonowari even retraced your steps, getting on his Skimwig and going to your favorite spot to float.
“Olo’eyktan!” Someone shouted. A young teenage boy swam over, panting in the water.
“I saw her! This morning.” He said.
Tonowari tilted his head, urging the boy to continue.
“She was floating over there, then she dove under water and never came back up”
Tonowari felt his heart drop seeing how close you were to the edge of the reef. He rode over to the area you were last seen in and spotted your ilu. He got under the rocks and emerged from the other side. The ilu recognized him and swam up to him, holding a single item in its mouth.
Your necklace.

You woke up to machines beeping and people chattering around you. The bright white of the lights and walls blinded you once you opened your eyes. You tried to raise your hand to shield your vision but you realized you were strapped down.
Looking down, you saw that you were on a large table strapped down. Leather bands around your ankles, hips, and wrists. You began to wiggle, panicking.
You then looked over to see two needles in your arm, one injecting something and the other extracting.
One of the humans came and put a cold jelly on your stomach which made you jerk even more. “Not my babies! Not my babies!” You cried out.
“What is she saying?” One of the scientists called out. Many of them didn't understand na’vi. Actually, none of them understood.
“Don't know, just keep the ultra sound going.”
You began wailing out as they pressed a machine to your torso. You thought they were going to harm your babies while they were still inside. While you were crying, a darker man with a beard came and placed headphones on your ears. You heard a strange, rapid sound going in and out. 
Calming down you looked at him with wide eyes.
“The heartbeats.” He said in clear na’vi.

Jake and Tonowari regrouped at their own home, adrenaline high. The sound of shells being blown into sounded around the reef, beginning the clan-wide search for their Olo’eyktans lover.
“I only found this, on the edge of the reef” Tonowari held your necklace up. 
“Is it possible she went beyond the reef.” Jake asked. 
“Never! She knew the dangers. For the children and for her.” He hissed slightly. 
“The witness said she didn’t go under on purpose, it seems she was looking for something.” 
Tonowari thought for a moment, before looking at the necklace again. “She never…found what she was looking for.”
Jake's eyes widened. “If the necklace is here with us…and was found on the rocks opposed to being lost in the water-”
“She was taken.” Tonowari’s eyes grew dark. 
Jake pondered for a bit, having an idea of who was behind it. But it couldn't be Quaritch, because he was far too prideful to orchestrate a kidnapping without displaying his doings within an hour later.
He pondered, before getting another idea. That general that was lurking with Quaritch. 
Jake ran to his radio, and began turning the dials. “Norm! Norm come in.”
Static sounded on the radio before he remembered the emergency channel they had. He quickly turned to that channel, and heard a long groan. “Jake. Jake Sully. Come in, Jake Sully.”
“Norm!”
Jake could hear the energy return to his voice.
“I've been trying to contact you for hours now!” He sighed. “Max says that they have Y/n.”
“What.” Jake gritted.
“Some secret lab underwater. They're using her for height testing.”
“Height testing.” Tonowari entered the room and looked at Jake confused.
“Some stupid project a short CEO wanted to conduct. And Y/n made a good test rat.”
Tonowari slammed his fist into the wall next to him. 
“Where!”
Norm began to stammer, “S-Somewhere underwater, uhm…get a map!”
Norm was able to describe the nearby terrain as much as he could through the radio. Jake and Tonowari were able to pinpoint two locations.
Almost immediately they gathered teams. They would hit both locations at once, so they had no time to react.

The alarms in the lab began to blare, but at this point you learned how to tune them out. They went off almost every day, due to some failed experiment or something in another wing. They were bound to go off in three, two, one.
You let out a breath and realized the alarm wasn’t stopping. You listened to the lab techs scramble outside of your “cell”, confused as to what was going on. 
The doors to your chambers opened and in came Max, along with a flow of water. He bent down and unlocked the chains that were shackled around your feet. He also took the Iv’s and ultrasound machine off of your stomach. 
“They’re here.” He said, before trudging to look outside the room. 
“You need to help me.” He said.
“What! Anything, I'll help!” 
Max smiled and handed her a tablet. “Knock me out.: He said putting a mask over his face.
“You’ll drown!”
“Which is why I'll have the mask. Leave me face down. I need to fake my death.”
You looked at him pained, not wanting to hurt the tech that helped you, especially one who was close friends with Jake.
“I’ll wake up and swim right on out of here. They’ll catch onto the fact that I helped you.”
You nodded and raised the tablet above your head before slamming it down on top of Max's head. He fell down, face down into the water that now rose to your calves. You made sure he wasn't bleeding before walking out of the room. 
In the hall, you saw the metal of the walls creaking under the pressure of the water. A group of techs began running towards you, but one was flung off the ground and pinned in the chest with a spear.
Your eyes widened. “Tonowari!” You yelled out, walking towards the spear. Arriving at the corner, you pulled the spear from the tech’s body and looked over, seeing Tonowari at the end of the hall, heaving.
“Y/n!” He smiled brightly. 
The two of you began heading towards each other before the walls caved in and water started rushing in. You held on tight to Tonowari’s spear as you went flying out into the ocean. Once you stopped spinning, you turned back to the station which was breaking down.
You frowned thinking about Max. What if his mask cracked?
You heard a chittering in the water and looked over to see Tonowari’s skimwig. With a somber look, you grabbed onto the holster and allowed the creature to transport away. 
The ride took a bit, but you emerged in the middle of the ocean. Water spread out for miles. You had no idea which way was which. 
Then, a few Metkayina na’vi emerged from the water. 
“Was your trip seamless Y/n?” One of them asked. 
“it was…but Tono-”
“He will find his way back.” He reassured.
One of the na’vi raised a shell in the air and blew into it. The tune echoed around the lot of you, and for a few moments nothing happened.
“Let's get you home.” 
One of the na’vi held you ilu on a leash, and you dove into the water to mount her. Tonowari’s  took off immediately, most likely to retrieve its rider.

As soon as you made it to the village you were bombarded with healers and midwives. They escorted you to a pod and began checking on your vitals. The midwives prepared herbal teas and treatments to get the “demon” medicine out of you.
This went on for a few hours before they allowed you to roam on your own. 
“Miss.” You saw a midwife wave you over to a nearby pod. 
You walked over to the pod and gasped. Tonowari and Jake sat up, being bandaged and sewn up.
The two snapped their heads to look at you immediately, smiling softly. You frowned at their condition, not expecting them to be hurt so badly.
“Are you okay?” Jake asked with narrowed eyes. 
“Are you?” You asked back.
“Took down two underwater RDA stations so…I think we’re good.”
You sighed in relief, before turning to see a figure on the bed. You smiled as you approached. Max.
“Found him face down in the water, knocked out.” Tonowari said.
“That….that was my fault. But he asked!”
Tonowari chuckled before standing and walking over to you, hand trailing down to your belly. 
“They're okay.” You said softly. He pressed a kiss to your temple, and that's when Jake walked over. 
The three of you held onto each other in a tight embrace as you were finally reunited.

 What is it like being in front of another photographer’s lens?
 I really do not enjoy having my photo taken, which I find is kind of an obviously common theme with photographers. I feel a lot more comfortable having someone I know take my photo. It is a very weird thing being a girl in 2023 while also trying to "put out" art. I really battle with cohesion between the two and I think that’s why my instinct is to refrain from showcasing myself. I’m still very unsure of myself, I am much more sure of my work. 
 Do you emulate the kind of vibe you aim to capture in your own photographs or meet in the middle?  Where’d you shoot this?
I think I definitely try and bring as much of me into a photo taken of me as possible, but it is also different because you have to respect the person who’s taking it as well. I’m not good at letting go of control and that’s what it feels like to have my photo taken. No photo taken of me will ever have the same “vibe” as my own work, but that’s cool, it shouldn’t.  We shot this around Los Angeles, basically all the area’s we grew up in. 
 How do you aim to dress when having your photo taken? Do you style your subjects the same? 
 The way I dress historically changes all the time but I think I’m getting the hang of narrowing it down. I always look back at things I wore a few months ago and question why I thought that was a good choice. I think the best way to beat this is to try and emulate as much simplicity as possible in a general sense, nothing too trendy etc. This of course depends on the occasion, depends on the photo, etc. I don’t know, I dress myself a lot differently than the people I take photos of. I want my subjects to appear family brand ecom esc. “Boring” clothes, minimal patterns, sportswear, etc. When I am given the freedom to dress the people I shoot I don’t want the clothes to be the focus ever.  
 What subjects are you drawn to shooting? Do they mirror similarities with yourself?
 Not at all, I don’t think I’m moldable enough and typically the people I am drawn to shoot are. If I could go back in time I would have no tattoos and would grow my hair long with no stylized cut what so ever, stuff like that. I like when someone looks like they could be from anywhere, there’s no time or location stamp on them. 
 Do you feel like your photos emulate the same energy that you do? 
 I don’t think so but it depends on the day. The photos I take look intentionally set up and often the subjects are posed pretty purposefully. It depends on the person I’m shooting, everyone kind of has their go to face or pose, it’s interesting to watch. I always love when I do catch something natural though, everyone looks they’re best when they’re not aware of being perceived. I feel very awkward in front of the camera and I tend to instinctively hide my face or tilt myself in the directions I’ve practiced in the mirror since I was younger that I think “look best”. Whenever someone shows me a photo myself I didn’t know was being taken I always like it a little more.

Putting this in a pinned post to make it easy to find/share. We all know how Tumblr is about things (and to be fair, I'm terrible and inconsistent as hell with tags).

This is a WIP, and still very much in the rough draft phase. Please forgive typos/errors. I literally haven't done a single edit yet.
The document focuses on releasing shoulders as a way to treat neck tension and migraines. Seriously, just trust me. It helps.
Carpal tunnel? Tennis elbow? Golfer's elbow? AC (acromioclavicular) joint injury? Rotator cuff problems? Tight upper back? Sporadic numbness in your arm? Seriously, just try the muscles already listed. You'll likely find at least some relief. Like, if it involves the upper body, release your shoulders.
I've done my best to make this able to be understood by people without massage training. So if it seems like it's covering really "obvious" info, that's intentional. Just skip the section if you already know things.
A lot of massage therapists may balk at me telling you to dig around in your own armpit. We're taught in school to avoid the area. Why? Because there's a crap ton of nerves and blood vessels there. *Which is precisely why releasing this area is so powerful.* There's also a ton of muscle (on yes, basically everybody) here that will protect all those structures. It's honestly really safe so long as you stick to "In pain, refrain!" And read the other rules too.
90% of the time, the culprit is one of the four muscles listed (or any combination of them). If you are someone who exercises a lot/does yoga/is otherwise pretty physically active, you are more likely to fall into the 10% of people who will have their issue somewhere else/it will just be really hard to find. So bear that in mind.
Sadly, this sort of thing will probably never be a "one and done" type of deal. Most of the things we do every day steadily build up to cause problems, and you have to constantly work to undo that entropy. So save these notes for future you.
And just in case you want to know what the hell qualifies me to make this sort of document, here are my "quals."
My first career attempt was nursing. While this did not go well (doctors don't really appreciate autistic students willing to question their authority) I learned a shit ton about the body. I became a student teacher for the anatomy and physiology class because I was so good at it (and that professor used to teach the pre-med students). A&P is now literally one of my special interests.
8 years as a licensed massage therapist focused exclusively on injury therapy. I studied Rolfing techniques, and primarily used trigger point therapy, structural integration, and myofascial release as my tools. Clients liked to joke that going to see me was like seeing the physical therapist (they weren't wrong).
Some of the stuff I share is literally self taught through "following the tension" in clients bodies. Like, I developed some of my protocols. And then practiced and refined them over 100s of bodies. The goal was always the most efficient and least painful way to achieve lasting release.
I eventually destroyed my shoulder doing massage (which was injured long before this career due to an AC joint sprain gotten when I was 20). Bonus, this means I'm *very* practiced at releasing my own shoulders.
I'm now a mechanical engineer, which just means I now have the engineering knowledge to understand to the force transferrence patterns I saw in clients all the time. Kinesiology is the same thing as statics and dynamics.
Hopefully that helps put perspective into things. I'll update this post as new versions of the document come out. I have a ton on my plate right now (who am I joking; I always have a ton on my plate), so please be patient waiting for updates.

seeking thoughts on a type of character behavior
Starting with a behavioral question to see if this is Relatable (TM):
Have you ever found yourself refraining from telling the truth or hiding information because you’re afraid of what the other person will think, even though you know that delaying the inevitable will only make it worse?
Maybe you’re afraid they’ll be mad, or will think less/differently of you. And you know that you can’t hide the truth from them forever, but you still immediately default to simple lies like “I’m fine” or “everything’s fine” or “I definitely am not planning on being possessed by a spirit during a concert you’re going to attend.”
Real talk, irl I know someone who does this all the time (not the plant part, the other part). Has for his whole life. It’s like clockwork. “Hey it’s nice that you’re confiding in me about this, but you should tell X about this, too.” “Yeah, I will.” (doesn’t do it, X gets mad months later when they find out). Every single time.
Now, if I have a character do this, here’s my fear of what the reader will say:
That’s so dumb. Why didn’t he just communicate? Why didn’t he just tell them? This is just manufacturing conflict because he didn’t tell the truth. Doesn’t he know that they’ll be made if he doesn’t tell them?
And just like irl, the answer is: yes!! he does know!! of course he knows, but this is a deep brain pattern and he’s fighting an instinctual fear of shame linked to his low self-worth!! and his arc is to work through that and confide in people again!! It’s psychological internal conflict! Man vs self, babey!
So, I guess my question is: if you were a reader, would you find this sort of behavior/arc annoying, dumb, or angsty? Or would you relate to this character’s behavior?
Book-specific context below the cut if you’re curious, but it does contain spoilers for both book 2 and book 3:
Yes, this is about Emry Karic, because of course this is about Emry Karic.
I’m trying to solidify his character arc, and am currently targeting: not confiding in loved ones -> confiding in loved ones. 
Why doesn’t he confide in loved ones in the first place? Well, last time he was really honest with his family about his future, they kinda kicked him out, and last time he confessed all this to Cal, she left him. That all happened pre-book 1. By the end of book 1, he’s reunited with his family and Cal, all of whom apologize for pushing him away and reassure him that they love him.
(I’m actually doing a whole short story on the family’s apology.)
However, Emry’s issues of self-worth aren’t magically gone by the end of book 1, and it’s not like he’s going to be great at telling people things they might not like to hear. 
A couple instances of this through the book:
1- Oops, Aspen accidentally possessed me for a brief second while they were trying to generate a rainstorm, and as a result, they summoned a really effective rainstorm. Best not tell Cal about this- it’s not like it’s gonna happen again, and it would only make her upset.
2- Welp, turns out that me being possessed by Aspen can actually make our troupe’s music sound really cool and we can do neat tricks! But Cal and my sisters will be at the concert. They’re gonna hate it. I should tell them before the concert...but I can’t bring myself to do it.
3- Andddd turns out that I now have plant powers from being possessed by a forest spirit repeatedly. I have no idea how my loved ones will react to this, so I straight up do not wanna tell them. However, I have grown as a person (lol plant pun) and so I am going to tell them!! And guess what, they’re supportive and they love me and my worst fears didn’t come true!!
A couple fears I have:
like I mentioned earlier, would a reader be like “oh he’s just dumb”?
is it too close to his family arc in book 1, where he goes from actively avoiding his family until he can Achieve the Thing, to seeing his family despite Not Achieving the Thing, and finding that they love him and just wanted him back for years?
If I remove this arc, don’t want his self-esteem or trust issues to be erased, because he also runs into imposter syndrome/ “am I enough without aspen?” in book 3, and by the end of book 3, he finally comes to the conclusion of “yes, I am actually enough.”

Okay I've listened to Lucky again repeatedly, first because it is an absolute bop.. what an aesthetic song! I'm so in love with it and second, because the lyrics are so intriguing to me. They're so beautiful and creates such visuals and images with it. After lots of thoughts, I have come to the conclusion that the 'you' louis is singing about actually just him, his past self. It makes so much sense to me.. "you give and until its gone away" is actually on theme with louis' own' story.. the kind of anxieties he must have felt when he was younger and subjected to the cruelty that happened to him. Feels like his present self is reassuring his past. And the main reason why I think it's about himself is because of the lyrics "I see how hard you've worked to be yourself" and my god has louis done just that. He has always fought and worked to be himself, not just in his career, in wanting to make the music that he likes (which he has been very open about in his interviews) but also on his personal life, in his personality. He was always portrayed in a certain image that was not him and yet he always fought that, him describing himself as flamboyant when they tried to make him look like a laddy lad or whatever, him wearing clothes that are subversive and true to his self like polari and so many others. Him being obviously trained to change his mannerisms but his natural flamboyance just come through when he is on stage, especially during LTWT.. like this is just one aspect of what that lyric means to me and makes sense to me. Along with his music and art which he has worked so hard to be true to himself. This song is definitely about him. He is saying his past self that he got lucky once and fought through his struggles and it's absolutely possible for him to get through this even now (lucky again).
Also Louis has said that he writes songs which could be about something else "dressed up as a love song" which is why I will refrain from reducing Lucky to just being about a relationship or a partner. Obviously I'd like to do a better, in depth analysis, cause I am so fascinated by how layered this song is but these are just my initial and immediate thoughts after listening to it on a loop. Thought I'd share here. Thank you
Hi, anon! Thank you so much for sharing, I love that.
I usually need a little bit of time to really let the lyrics sink in and have an opinion about it, but I'm very inclined to agree with you, actually. I don't think this is a love song (well kind of), I think he's talking about struggles of his career and just life in general, not love life. The beginning really has the same energy of Copy Of and Changes for me - about looking back and being nostalgic and almost giving a piece of advice for his past self that was clearly struggling a lot.
However from the second verse on, he uses "we" and "us" a lot and even "you" and "I" in a way that truly doesn't come across like he's talking about himself in the past / present, there's a subject in the song. Which leads me to this other interpretation here:

And it's funny because I noticed that there's a pattern here between Harry and Louis' songs. The line between work, their life together and struggles of finding their feet as human beings, in general, are very very blurred. See more on my HABIT analysis and MFASR analysis. They go back and forth about their careers and life together as a couple like it's all essentially the same, often still talking about their careers as a unit. And that's incredibly interesting.
As the first anon was saying, I think Louis went through a lot of anxiety at some point and he struggled a lot to find himself again. He talks so much about running out of energy, being lost looking for something, for some kind of "high", he talks about shutting people out, and then about building his confidence again, about being brave, fearless.... And all that struggle affected all the areas of his life, career, love life, everything.
So I do think that being "lucky again" is about just finding himself again. On everything. There's this really nice parallel with Fireproof that I'm obsessed. I think I feel very similarly about the two songs. In Fireproof he was already struggling, desperately trying to find something to hold on to. And eventually, he did. It was someone that got him out of that place, love was always his "way out".

ooooooh thank you my darling for this ask!💕
i am almost certain i've heard this song before but i can't quite seem to place it. the beat feels so familiar to me and obviously the sound is quite nostalgic, very 80's top 40's style. a simplistic bare-bones beat that repeats in a way that mirrors the cyclical, frustrated back and forth of the lyrics which follow the subject as they reflect on the constant push and pull of a toxic relationship.
resentment at the inability to move past reoccurring patterns of negativity, feeling like you're the only person giving in and once you've reached the point of finally giving up you get pulled right back into the struggle because, while it's obviously not good for you, it feels too right even in it's discomfort to truly let go.
first and last verses, along with every chorus, ending in the refrain of "that's all". the subject has resigned themself to the expected frustration, to the constant tussling because even if "it would be easier, i know" to leave and be done with it, you know you will be nothing without that fight.

the tumultuous melodrama of the quizás series by @devotiondroid
i could have sworn leslou say these exact things to one another over the course of the two parts of this intricately built, decadent piece of work. I don't want to give away spoilers in case you haven't already read this delicious epic (please go and crack it open now. i beg!) but there are a few mediation scenes that occur between lestat and louis near the start of the second part and this song really just works perfectly in those scenes. good to love and ruthless in love are essential reading as far as i'm concerned, an exercise in skill and stamina on the writers part. a piece where you fall on love over and over again with not only each character (including compelling side characters) and the dynamics explored between them all, but also the idea of love itself, all the ways it can be had, broken, denied, squandered, repaired, cherished.
and i'm not talking just to talk. it's really genuinely that good!

And the Beast Whimpered!
(A concept for a fanfiction)
An idea that's been gnawing at me for a while but I haven't found it in me to draw doodles for it so here goes! If you wanna write the idea or otherwise write/draw something inspired by it please please do it and tell me about it, I would love it so much.
Summary:
Strange things have been going on in the Oshun Oxtra's colony, and the Ghost has been terrifically excited about it! Some say that they've spotted a monster lurking in the woods of the colony and destroying it bit by bit. Unrelatedly, the Muddler of the colony seems to be more tired than usual, possibly because he's worried about his yet to be born first child. Those new father anxieties, am I right?

Plot:
Okay, so like, the island, right? The colony isn't such a big island so if something's going on then everybody knows about it. It's the fall season, the Moomins are preparing for hibernation, the Joxter's apple tree finally grew some apples, the Mymbles are mucking around with the strangely colored leaves and Hodgkins is extremely busy working on some seasonal pranks for the King. The Muddler and the Fuzzy have recently happily announced that the Fuzzy is pregnant and they're very excited about the prospect, however, these days the Muddler seems to be more unresponsive and jittery than he used to be. The Fuzzy's felt him leave the tin some nights, it's making her feel worried.
The Mymble's daughter suggests that it might be because of this night monster that some of the children have spotted lurking about, they confirm that it's most certainly not the Moomin's Ghost, but the Ghost is very excited to meet a fellow beasty to scare folk with.
The Moomin and the Joxter, being the... quote from the Moomin: "brave, strong men of the island who must protect everyone", stake out to find the monster, leaving out the Muddler from the hunt because he's too afraid to face the thing and says he'll only be a drag.
After only a short time, they find the Monster lurking between the trees and the Joxter dives head first into the danger, diagnosing the beast as a werewolf and being excited to finally see one with his own eyes for the first time. The Moomin cautiously follows, thinking the Joxter is a fool for such impulses and they meet eyes with the Monster.
The two men recognize the fur patterns as similar to the Muddler's and the Joxter recognizes the timid and avoidant behavior as that of the Muddler's. The Monster flees after the Joxter tries to calm it down and they puzzle together that the Muddler must be transforming into this thing each night for unknown reasons.
The next morning, the Joxter confronts the Muddler about the Monster but the Muddler tries denying it. Unconvinced, the Joxter continues questioning him as if the Muddler had confirmed his suspicions and the Muddler cracks, spilling the truth of the matter.
He doesn't know why it's happening but he's too terrified to hurt anyone and he dreads every night with an aching pit in his stomach, yet at the same time he's refrained from telling anybody in the vain hope that it'll go away on its own and it'll be as if nothing has happened. The last thing he wants is anybody wasting their time worrying and trying to help with something that likely can't be helped. Then the Muddler refuses to continue the conversation with the Joxter.
The next night, the Joxter tags the Fuzzy along with him to help the Muddler in his monstrous form aswell as reveal the truth to the Fuzzy. The two of them manage to calm the Monster down and take a proper look at it: an extremely muscular and numerously scarred hound-like beast. Whimpering and breathing heavily with a deep fear to approach them or have them get close to him. He's terrified and confused, he probably doesn't understand what is going on, but the two smaller creatures manage to get him to lay down and rest.
The Fuzzy tries to talk to the Muddler about this but again does he refuse, and he outright rejects the idea of Hodgkins knowing about this. The Fuzzy reports to the Joxter about this and notes that she's noticed that he has the scars and his body seems strained and a little more similar to his monster form, this makes her mind reel with many worrying ideas and the two of them try to come up with some kind of plan to cure him of his infliction. Days and nights continue with them trying to deal with the issue in the meantime, even if the Fuzzy is starting to get ill from symptoms of pregnancy.
Eventually, the Muddler has to get some new clothes because his old ones are either torn or ill-fitting, and the only person he can think to get fitting ones from was his uncle, Hodgkins. The original crew travel to the Autocrat's abode to meet with him since this is one of their rare excuses to do so. The Muddler and his uncle have a private conversation and Hodgkins notices the Muddler's acting extremely odd. He discreetly asks the Joxter about it and he fills him in on the situation.
Hodgkins is somewhat aware of this supernatural phenomenon and calls it lycanthropy, and the only cure is to get some silver object in contact with his blood in his monstrous form to pull the Monster's spirit out of the Muddler. This is a rather painful procedure since not too many cases have been documented, which makes it hard to do experiments on cures, but stabbing something silver into the patient has shown to work.
Seeing as Hodgkins is the only one big and strong enough to at least restrain the Muddler, and not many others are willing to stab him, Hodgkins is the only one who could pull off the ritual. He arranges some vacation time with King Jones (a difficult task since the hundred year old King is not a very wise one), obtains a silver knife from the royal silverware and makes it to the colony island.
The night of the curing was an intense one, with the Monster full of survival instinct and many obstacles in the way of a good stab, but they finally get the deed done only to have the Monster bite Hodgkins' shoulder at the same time and the two of them limp over as the others rush to treat their wounds.
Hodgkins and the Muddler meet up the next day and the Muddler apologizes deeply about the situation, and particularly about the shoulder. Hodgkins assures him that it's fine, but he shouldn't have to deal with his problems on his own like this time, he also jokes about how the only person upset would probably be King Jones as he'll have to extend Hodgkins' vacation time for recovery. The two of them hug and life goes on as it should, with winter approaching as it always will.
Details:
• The Joxter is a Joxter, young Moominpappa is referred to as the Moomin and his at-the-time girlfriend (young Moominmamma) is called the Moomin Maiden
• the Muddler is more comparable to a dog than a rodent
• the Muddler has tears which stain his face with a red-brown color and must be cleaned off, however his werewolf form always has stains in its eyes
• the crew have been living on the island for about 2 years
• the Muddler has been dealing with substantial ongoing pain for the past few years and points to it as a reason to not worry about him
• the Joxter and the Fuzzy are around the same height while the Muddler is taller than both of them, only that he slouches over most of the time
• the Muddler and the Fuzzy's first child is the Fuddler (the one from the comics)
• the Muddler and the Joxter have known eachother for years and care deeply about eachother, which is why the Joxter is able to identify the Muddler's behavior
• Optional: if so desired, you can have a romantic thing having gone on between the Joxter and the Muddler before the Muddler's marriage, but after some bonding between the Joxter and the Fuzzy they all manage to develop a polyamorous relationship (love wins <3)
• the Ghost uses it/its pronouns
• the Moomins are the only creatures who hibernate on the island, it's a tradition thing that the others kinda have to deal with (but the Mymbles seem to be very interested in it)
• the werewolf is a kinda sorta allegory for anxiety or panic attacks
• the source of the curse isn't important to the story but that's mostly because I couldn't come up with one, if you have a good idea you can add it but I think it feels more real if it remains unknown or it's caused by some severe mental break
• the Muddler is in a state of nausea and unable to navigate very well in his werewolf form which makes him scrape against alot of things in the forest, which is why he has those scars

Echoes of a Refrain 👀
So I had to reread this one bc I only remembered the gist of it, but it's sometime after Kitali and Aymeric started properly dating but are both still spiralling from everything that's happened post war. Aymeric is still a bit in the idealisation stage and Kitali still has a lot of directionless anger and grief that she doesn't really know where to put yet. Pre-Batman era but post-DRK 60.
It's a bit older, and her speech pattern feels a little off to me, so if I do end up using this for something I'll maybe tweak a few things, but overall I still like it,
once again not beating the "Kitali is completely unhinged and violent" allegations but

Aymeric climbed the steps to the highest platform, the whispers of song dancing just beyond his understanding, but reverberating through his very marrow. 
Kitali was standing in the center of the open space, facing away from the stairs. Her lone figure made the space feel all that larger around her, though her presence seemed to fill it nonetheless. The purple glow of the corrupted aether crystals that held the Aery aloft reflected off of her skin and scales, painting her in a similar hue as the previous occupant. It was an odd dissonance and set the hairs at the nape of Aymeric’s neck standing. At his approach, she turned to face him, and the echoing song faded to silence. 
“The moogles said you’d likely be here,” he said. “Was…….am I interrupting something?”
“I was singing,” she said casually. 
“Oh, was that what I was hearing? May I ask what it was?”
“A lament for Nidhogg.”
Aymeric tilted his head. “A lament for……why?”
“Because for all his atrocities, Nidhogg was right. Men are weak. Men are greedy. They are envious, volatile things. What they want, they take by force. They killed his sister in cold blood because they coveted her power. And to preserve their wrongful claim to power, lied to their people for a thousand years. Their prejudices have seeped into the very stonework of Ishgard, proclaiming anyone who is not of their blood to be their enemy.” Her voice hardened, steel beneath silk. “Going so far as to kill an entire people for the sin of looking like dragons.”
Aymeric knew that Nidhogg was dead. He had watched him slain by Kitali’s own hand before his very eyes. But that did not stop him from bracing for the shadow of the great wyrm to appear behind Kitali, great black wings shrouding her form. He swallowed thickly, averting his gaze. 
“How did you find out about that?” he asked.
“Did you hope to keep that information from me?” she asked in retort.
“…Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because it is a stain on the history of the Temple Knights, and one I take no pride in.”
“Worried you and Ishgard would lose my good favor if I found out?”
Aymeric closed his eyes, the weight of her accusations too much to bear, but his silence was an answer enough. 
“Who gave the order?” Kitali pressed. 
“Th-the previous Lord Commander.” Aymeric’s tongue felt heavy. 
“And where is he now?”
“Dead. Killed in the line of duty. I was his replacement.”
He could feel her gaze, sharp across his features.
“Is that why you had Estinien watch me for so long?”
“Yes.” He opened his eyes once more and met her gaze, unabashed. “I wanted to keep you safe, and knowing past tendencies, I would not allow any risk of harm to befall you.”
Kitali just continued to stare. It took a great amount of willpower not to squirm under it. 
The cry of a beast overhead startled Aymeric, and grateful for the excuse to break her stare he looked up to see what it was, lest he need be on his guard. Kitali, for her part, only languidly swivelled her head to look up. It was a wyvern, blue hide shining in the light of the crystals as it flew overhead. Aymeric dared a glance at Kitali, and from her lack of worry he lowered his blade. 
The bearing of wings faded back into silence, but the tension had broken for the moment. Kitali turned back to look at him once more.
“I’ll meet you back at Moghome,” she said with finality, and turned back to face the archway.
Aymeric nodded, even though she couldn’t see it, and forced himself to walk back down the steps instead of sprinting headlong as he wanted to. 
This place is cursed, he thought to himself as he climbed back into the mana cutter. Cursed and haunted, and not just by the dead.

Let's talk about why Miracle and Plague will be a short series and additionally why I chose to write out characters such as Kagami, Zoe, Felix (I'm sorry baby </3)
Miracle and Plague won't be very long. In fact, It will be twice as short as the canon, purely because I feel like the series lost that sparkle, that thing that really made it special somewhere in the season 3. All of it started feeling worn out, boring or just annoying. It's also when the decision to re-estate Chloe as a villain really took place, so I'm obviously very displeased with how the seasons went on, but It's not the only reason! Adrien's character got completely assasinated, replaced by 10 and more heroes. I really like the doubt arc they had going for him, but It was never actually memorable or so impactful. All the focus seemed to be on Marinette and her issues, but the character who's the closest to the main villain, the one with a ton of their own insecurities to be explored was pushed aside. To add to that, the newer heroes were becoming boring or just straight up made me sigh when Ladybug needed to go get someone to help. Don't even get me started on the mass-hero episodes like Partycrusher or Penalteam. It was a lot squished together into 2 seasons where If not for the miraculous reveal, It would've been nothing short of a filler episode.
I feel like not adding too many plotlines, characters is simply a better idea. It'll ensure that all the existing ones will be explored to their best potential. Adrien's family story, Chloe's character, Chloe and Sabrina's relationship, Jiayi and Lila's relationship/rivalry, Alya's hero potential, Lila's urge for chaos, Monarch/Gabriel's motivation, Master Fu's backstory, possible expansion of Wonders - these are very good plotlines! Not even mentioning the side/less important plots like Luka and Jiayi's past, Unicorn band, Juleka wanting to be a model, Juleka and Rose's plot, Alix's hidden Wonder, Natalie's crush on Gabriel, Adrien's self-discovery. There's a LOT of them already and to add like 10 more just because I want a new character would extend and complicate the plot further. Not that I wouldn't take the challenge, but I just want to see this series conclude in a way that in my opinion is more satisfying than whatever we're getting.

As for the characters I wrote out.. I think most of them already have a sort of pattern to them where you can tell why I removed them.
Zoe. Oh Zoe, the worst character I've had the displeasure of seeing on screen. I already reblogged plenty of content in regards to her, so I'll just refrain from writing a rant on that excuse of a character.
As much as I would've loved to keep Kagami (I still might), I really feel she wouldn't fit the narrtive so nicely. Of course, she appears in Riposte, but upon reviewing the timeline of MnP, that's literally the only episode she is taking an active part in as of today. I don't really see a reason to keep her in the lore If she'll appear once and never again, It feels a bit counterproductive, but like I said, I am still thinking about this one, because her and Adrien have so much potential in development; both coming from strict, cold households, both fencing... They do have quite a bit in common. Maybe If I just move Riposte to season 1....
Moving on to Felix, I believe I already mentioned that my first opinion of him was bitter. I didn't really like him being there and the fact that he look eerily like Adrien as If they'd reused his model was just weird (ig now we know WHY season 5 spoilers). Then, the opinion shifted to much better after mostly Emotion really and since then I really did like him, but... Looking at his journey from the end of season 3 to here and his role in the overarching plot I feel like he just wouldn't fit to MnP, not with the format I'm going for.
Besides, can I just mention how random it was that Emilie and Felix's mom look literally identical AND their sons look identical as well? It made me so confused when I first watched the episode lmao

Did they believe in Santa?: No, since Christmas isn’t a holiday celebrated in Seelie, and thus there was no story or myth of Santa Clause to be told to kids. Aur only became aware of the concept when he was stranded in the mortal realm and his first thought of hearing a man who snuck into houses to leave children presents and who was repaid in milk and cookies was “...Hm, sounds like a fae.”
Were they a dinosaur or rock kid?: Dinosaurs...also not much of a talked about concept in Seelie. I guess rocks? He was pretty mature for a kid even as a kid regarding his mannerisms though so it’d only be to the extent of him finding a particularly pretty rock and admiring it.
Bugs or slimy critters?: He’s good with butterflies and stuff. He doesn’t have anything against bugs and slimy creatures, but he’s not like feeling more than neutral towards them.
Do they fidget? How?: Generally no, he’s pretty still intentionally so as to not give away any anxieties or whatever he’s feeling. If his guard is down though or he’s distracted, he’ll generally mess with his hair in some way if he’s agitated or thinking deeply on something. He’d stop himself if he noticed he was doing it though.
What were they frequently in trouble for as a child?: Aur was lameeee (I’m joking) as a kid and didn’t get in trouble because he didn’t really act out or do stuff he was told  not to. Now, once he hit like young to mid-teens, after his mother passed, he started taking to sneaking out of the palace every now and then. It didn’t happen as frequently back then though so his dad never discovered it.
What underwear do they like?: ...Mother-- am I going to have to look up ancient Scottish underwear to see what the fae could be working with? I’m sure it’s just some type of cloth wrapped around the lower body, or maybe even nothing who knows. I’ve now returned from my Google search in the span between that last sentence and this one and probably braies? He of course worse modern underwear while he was living in the mortal world but it’s kind of hard to come by some Fruit of the Looms in Seelie.
Designs on clothing or no?: Sort of? He can at time have patterns, uh I guess reminiscent to fleur de lisle even though that’s a whole other region of inspiration but shhhh, it’s not actually fleur de lisle anyways.
Birthmarks?: Do his fae marks count? He was born with them after all.  Absolutely the lines all over his body that curl like vines or ivy and are set into his skin. I’d even consider his two-colored eyes birthmarks. Green coloring in his blond hair, his tail, horns, etc. etc. 
Do they have good self control?: Restraint to a Capital T. I know I would have blown up long ago if I were in Aur’s position. Generally though, he’s pretty good at keeping his emotions reined in at the moment something is happening and good with self-restraint.
Favorite franchise?: He’s...in Seelie too often to engage with franchises. Who has the time anyways?
Do they re-enact scenarios in the shower?: Nope. I’ll refrain from talking about how Seelie mainly utilizes baths anyways, or natural uhhh springs? Waterfalls? I forgot how to describe it, but either way they don’t have actual water running through pipes set into the walls showers. Aur would like to look into that at some point though....when he....has the time.... 
Do they tell the waiter that their order is wrong?: Pft, no. Not that he’s scared or too nervous to, he just...he’ll get the order and something in it’s wrong? He goes “Oh well”, and proceeds to eat it anyways. It just doesn’t seem like a big enough deal to him to get someone’s attention, point it out, and then wait for it to be fixed when he could be eating it right now.
Stairs or elevator?: Stairs. Once again, familiar with elevators because of the mortal world, but Seelie hasn’t really hit its Industrial Revolution era yet.
Are they an exaggerator when telling stories?: Nope, he’ll tell it how it is plain and simple. He’ll try to include all the relevant details, but he’s overall not a talkative person so he might leave out something that was small and didn’t seem big to him, but could have actually been.

Roswell, New Mexico: Missing My Baby (4x08)
I am so predictably easy lol. Literally you give me angsty Michael freaking out about Alex, and I'll forgive you anything.
Cons:
I really enjoyed this episode, but I'll of course try and step back and be objective about it! I think my main overarching complaint is that certain things in this episode would have been fine normally, but I feel a little weird about the pacing. I know that's a common refrain from me, but there are only five episodes left of this whole show, and it's a little concerning how we're still sort of lining up key pieces. Mostly, I'm talking about the Tezca stuff. It feels so late in the game to only now be clarifying the basic motivations and positions of our new characters. Clyde was my least favorite part of this episode, because the sinister reveal that he's the bad guy doesn't really hold weight when we saw him toss Dallas and Bonnie into quicksand last week. And what about the fact that Tezca is the one who quicksanded Alex? I just feel like the season spent quite a long time meandering before leading to this nexus point, and that does make me worried about what we'll be able to fit into the final episodes.
The big character thing that I need to mention this week... it's our girl Liz. I love Liz, I like having a female protagonist who is allowed to be messy and make these big mistakes and all that jazz, but this week she really, really rubbed me the wrong way. She's going around acting like she's the one who has the right to make big decisions on other people's behalves. She's the one who decides to keep Alex's disappearance a secret from Michael, and her reasons of "Michael might react poorly" and "I wanted to spare him from pain" are just... not good enough excuses! She also feels like she has a right to what Max chooses to do with his body and his powers, which is not a good look. And finally, after all the lessons she's supposed to have learned about the ethics of her alien scientific exploration, she goes ahead and takes Shivani to the pods, without running it by Max, Michael, and Isobel, and then Shivani finds out Max is an alien because of it! That's a huge secret to let slip, Liz. This is a big deal and it's super annoying that she's behaving in such an irresponsible and self-righteous way.
And then on the Echo front... you know how we're all pretty sure there's a wedding at the end of this season, because of the behind the scenes pictures? And how this season has the whole Echo proposal thing, and it keeps getting talked about? I am in the position right now of actively hoping these two are not going to get married at the end of this season. Unless the finale has like... a significant time jump and they've really worked on their bullshit together. Because right now? They are not in a marriage place, they're in a "we barely seem to know each other or how to interact with each other" place, and it's super bizarre to see them behaving like this so close to the finale.
It bothers me that we had to spend time in this episode with Liz getting sage relationship advice from Shivani and Michael, with Max angsting about Liz to Michael as well, when I'm sitting here thinking that the two of them are such awful communicators, it's frankly stretching credulity that they're even managing to stay together at all. This isn't how I want to feel! Unlike with Michael's character, who I feel has really grown and matured over the years, Liz and Max seem to be falling back into the same patterns we've seen a thousand times, with no sense of them understanding that their behavior is toxic. I want to root for these two, I've always thought Echo was a really good ship with a lot of angst and complexity, but I am just really struggling to connect to them right now.
As a last note and in the interests of thoroughness, while I am overall very pleased with how the Alex stuff was handled, I do think there were some awkward momentum killing moments that seemed odd to me. People were acting all urgent about Alex one minute, and then Rosa is talking about stopping to have pancakes with her dad first, and Michael is giving Liz relationship advice, and Liz has time to work on the cure for Michael and Max instead of focusing on her missing friend... it seemed like once they knew he was in trouble and actively reaching out for help, there should have been less time to sit around and have idle brooding conversations about other topics.
Pros:
So, let's start with the other plots before I dive into the Michael and Malex stuff, because you know that's the main thing I want to squeal about.
As I said, I wish the Tezca revelation had happened a bit sooner in the season, for pacing reasons, but I honestly really liked the material with Isobel and Tezca! The reveal that she was in fact an unwitting tool, a victim, of Jones, instead of an ally, was one that worked really well for me and that I never would have seen coming! I loved the tension between the two of them, and Isobel's determination to find answers. She really carried the main plot forward in a way that I found satisfying. Isobel's romance entanglements in the first half of the season left me feeling a little cold, so I'm just having fun seeing her back in the thick of things, fighting for answers.
And honestly, despite everything I said above about Liz, I thought the final scene of this episode with Shivani dropping the canister, was one of the best Liz scenes of the whole show. Great performance from Jeanine Mason, as we watch Liz grapple with the horror of Shivani's loss, and the lengths she's willing to go to save her dead daughter, coupled with the fact that she, Liz, is a hypocrite and she knows it: she got Rosa back, and she saved Max, and Shivani is right to point out the inherent unfairness of that. Why is Liz the only one who gets to bend the rules to be happy? Why can't she use use the incredible scientific miracles at her disposal, to save other innocent lives? You can see the pain on Liz's face as she tries to get through to an increasingly rattled Shivani, all leading to that moment when the canister drops and doses them both with the alien mist. I was honestly on the edge of my seat for that whole scene!
And now, for the whole point of this episode... the Michael and Alex stuff.
I want to start by saying that sometimes, honestly, being in this fandom can be kind of a bummer for me. When I was looking in the tags and seeing people's reactions, I saw a lot of anger and disappointment over this episode. I can only assume people's expectations were too high, that they'd talked themselves into hoping Tyler would be in the episode, or that they just wanted an even more extreme reaction from Michael, more anger, more urgency. I... get that, I get being disappointed that we've seen so little of Alex this season. But the part that makes me feel kind of bad whenever I check the tags is that everyone seems to take this lack of Alex as a deliberate choice on the part of the writers to undermine him, as opposed to them writing around a medically necessary absence of the actor.
Malex is my favorite part of the show! Truly, I get wishing things were different. But to pretend that anything not spent on Alex is a waste, that the show is pointless without him and that dragging out his absence is making the show terrible, is just not a justifiable position as far as I'm concerned. This has never been a show about Michael and Alex. If it's a show about any two people, it's a show about Max and Liz! I wish people could temper their reactions and appreciate that given the actor availability issue, they did what they could to build up the suspense about Alex's absence, and then to unleash a hell of a reaction from Michael on us when the time was right. Personally speaking, I was quite thrilled with what we were given.
To start with, I like that we get Maria, and Liz, and Rosa, all giving a shit about Alex. I wish this was something the show would do more often, I definitely think that Alex's friendships and connections with characters outside of Malex have been pushed aside a lot, especially in seasons three and four. But when they do give it focus and attention, I'm not going to complain, I'm just happy to see it! Rosa showing up to help Maria channel her potential new abilities was really satisfying to watch. Just everything about Rosa, the way she's come into her own, settled in her skin, makes me so happy. This is exactly what I would have wanted for her, and it's a lovely way for her to pay it forward, after Isobel helped her with her powers back in season three.
Then there's Michael's emotional journey through hearing the news. At first he's skeptical, and he actually stays pretty calm until it dawns on him that everyone, including Liz, Max, and Kyle, were all in on the fact that Alex might be in trouble, and that he was kept in the dark. At this point he rightfully freaks out, but what I love about the way that this was written and performed is that clearly, so much of his anger is actually aimed at himself. His guilt is clear the whole way through: Rosa points out that maybe Maria was the only one listening to Alex, and Michael pushes back, saying that he was thinking of Alex every second he was risking his life with the dark triad. And maybe that's true, in a sense, but I think it's pretty clear that Michael knows his focus wasn't on Alex. Then again with Max: he punches him, he says some awful things to him, and I don't really blame him for being pissed at Max, but he also says "I could have been looking for him," which feels like a condemnation of his own distraction as much as it does a condemnation of Max keeping the secret. Michael is realizing that Alex has been in trouble for days now, and that he hasn't even noticed. His friends were wrong for keeping it from him, and his anger is therefore justified. But the guilt is real too, even if he's perhaps being a little hard on himself.
And I love this. I love that even though it's not Michael's fault, that he had a lot of other things on his mind, and perfectly good reasons to think Alex was fine, that of course he'd go to this place of guilt. It's tied up so much in everything he's been learning about Oasis, this life-long yearning for his original home coming back to him in such a big way. Alex is away for one week, and he's busy fantasizing about leaving the planet? Of course he's a mess when he realizes Alex has been in trouble and trying to ask for help! He tells Liz that he lost sight of the home he was trying to build here with Alex, and I think we'll see his focus stay on that from this point forward. God, honestly, for all the issues this season has had up to this point, Michael's stuff has been my favorite all the way through. Such a delicious way to deepen his character.
Speaking of his character development, we then see that Michael's initial burst of rage cools off, and he makes amends to those he's wronged. I saw some people annoyed that Michael offered apologies to Max and Maria, when in fact they were in the wrong, but honestly I love that this happens. First of all, Maria and Max also express remorse, as does Liz. It's not like the show isn't acknowledging that they were in the wrong to keep the truth from Michael. But let's put this in perspective: Rosa and Liz found out last night. Max finds out maybe like... two hours ahead of Michael, at the most? It would be a different story if they'd been lying to him for days, but as much as I think Liz was wrong for doing what she did, I also think it makes a bit of sense to want some more definitive information. It's a misguided decision, but it's not totally monstrous.
Same with Michael's response: totally reasonable to lash out in that moment of fear! But it's a great sign of his character growth that he's then able to pause and reflect, and work together with his support system to find Alex, instead of tearing off on a rampage with single-minded focus on Alex and nothing else. Sure, it was fun to watch him lose his shit in season two, tying people up, building bombs, all to get Alex back, but Michael has grown as a character since then. He's learned to lean on other people. That's a good thing.
So many great lines from Michael this week that I want to call out. I really liked the way he talked to both Liz and Maria about Alex. He has that line to Liz about how you can't hold onto sand because it will just slip through your fingers. That's basically his way of saying that a relationship won't work if both people don't want it to. Such an important lesson that Malex had to learn together, as they took it in turns to be ready for one another, but had to wait until they were on the same page for things to finally click! And then one of my favorite lines of the episode, said to Maria: "I know you love Alex too. And that means we are always on the same side." Like!! Amazing. Perfect. No notes. I know most of the fandom vehemently disagrees with this viewpoint, but I wish more of the show was about Michael, Alex, and Maria, and the entanglement of their relationships and feelings over time. Obviously Malex is my OTP, but I love Maria's friendships with each of the guys and I loved this moment where the two of them were united in focusing on their love for Alex.
Alex playing "Would You Come Home" on the piano? Michael joining him on the guitar? The pendant glowing on Michael's chest? The lights leading them to a map? All of this shit was the CHEESIEST thing in the world, and I mean that absolutely as a compliment. Give me all the over the top sappy romance stuff, give me Michael looking like his heart is cracking open as he hears the song start, a single tear slipping down his cheek as he plays along... I was absolutely eating all that shit up, and I think it followed so beautifully from his initial anger reaction.
Another favorite moment of mine is Vlamis's performance on "I HAVE TO HELP HIM", as he's about to jump into quicksand after his boyfriend, with absolutely no plan. "I wasn't listening to him, I wasn't paying attention." Like, fuck me up, that's so powerful. His sheer desperation, and then the way he breaks down as Max pulls him into a hug... wow. I got a little choked up.
Speaking of Max! I loved all the brother stuff this week, I was hoping that the secret Max kept from Michael would be about Alex (since we knew about that from the episode description), and honestly the way this all played out was exactly what I would have wanted it to be! The initial anger, the punching, Michael absolutely ripping Max to shreds for putting his relationship issues above Michael knowing the truth about "the man he loves"... The line "I hope the wedding's worth losing a brother" is absolutely incredible, that went so hard.
Then we get Max showing up just in time to save Maria from the quicksand, and he also stops Michael from diving into the sand after Alex. I love that he was the one to talk him off the literal ledge. Max has always understood that Alex means everything to Michael. He compared Michael's feelings for Alex to his own feelings for Liz, back in season one, and he has been the one character on the show to consistently and repeatedly make such comparisons, actively paralleling their relationships with their respective significant others at key moments. So I loved that as a continuation point, and also just as a big ol' fan of all the sibling feels, watching Michael bury his face in Max's shoulder and cry was... very good. And it just gets better, with Michael apologizing for hitting Max, Max apologizing for hiding the truth from Michael, Michael talking obliquely about his own guilty feelings, and then affirming that all that matters to him is getting Alex back. Max calling Alex the love of Michael's life was also... very nice.
Wow, I really talked on about this one, huh? Could have guessed that would happen. If I had to say it succinctly, it would be this: sure, there are things I wish could have been different in this episode, even including the Michael stuff. Yes, absolutely I wish that we had more time with Alex in our final season. I'm guessing we see him again in episode ten, but who knows how active a role he'll play in the endgame? It's a bummer, and I do get that. But this was a PRIME episode for all my Malex feels, and I bet when the show is actually over and people can re-watch over the season without the suspense and uncertainty coloring their opinions, they'll have to agree that watching Michael break down and scream and punch his brother and play the guitar with the ghost of his missing lover, is all pretty dang satisfying to see.

Beaches are typically a little gauche -- but he has to admit that this one is, like a great many places, vastly improved by it being 3 am. So? He'll pay that.
He's not too sure if it's code for you can fuck right off, though, so it's probably better he refrain from voicing that sort of meaningless commentary.
At the same time, there really doesn't seem to be anything else interesting washed up here tonight. He's been up and down, already passed the guy once, and he's still lying there, see. But. Not unconscious. More's the pity. He never did work out exactly what he keeps in his pockets.
"Mmh," he says, instead, and keeps going, just for a few metres. Pauses, sighs -- there's nowhere to sit that won't cover his robes in sand -- and settles on the ground, legs crossed, spine vertical. Cold. He can live with it.
He peers into the patterns of scattered shell fragments like he's trying to read tea leaves. Stands vigil against the deceptively quiet menace of the sea. Tries to find Mars and finds himself quickly foiled by the clouds and the streetlights.
Stares at the indistinct shape of the man chilling on a beach and wonders what -- if anything -- he spends his time thinking about.

If Lewis were listening very, very closely, he might have been able to hear a noise like a record skipping somewhere in the back of Kal's skull.
What the fuck does he mean by that, huh? He isn't really looking at anybody. There are no Pretty Boys in the audience. His voice is? Silky. There is obviously an undertow there, some Thing he is playing at, and he's not sure whether the plan is to humiliate him or bait him or make an actual advance, but it seems more important than ever to be Suave and Unflustered about whatever he's implying.
Because it obviously wouldn't be like that.
To his credit, it takes only a second for his eyes to snap back into focus, and he meets his gaze almost steadily.
Lewis is pretty, though. Even when you're relatively sober. In a decidedly man way, of course, not like haha-why-don't-we-jokingly-call-him-a-she, aren't-we-clever --

Before break I had grand delusions that I was going to furiously self-study to keep up with whatever I was missing in class. A week and a half in, I have not cracked the textbook nor looked at the class group chat even once, and have no desire to either. I have put in some minimal work on my oral presentation due when I get back, and that speech for November, but otherwise the to-do list has shrunk veeeery little. But that’s the point of a break, right? To not have to do stuff? (I still wish there was no stuff to be done to begin with though.)
I want to dedicate the rest of the week to recovering from my journey to the south. I met up with my tutor who lives down there- I have largely refrained from writing about the whole tutoring affair in detail because occasionally I’d mention blogging, and he’d ask about it, and I’d refuse to divulge any information but the thought of ‘maybe some day I shall divulge’ would flit across my mind (or the more terrible notion that he’d find it himself, even though he claims to have never heard of tumblr). At this point the field where I grow my fucks is barren.
親愛的家教, if you ever read this, I have one thing to say, which is 活該. (Directed at whom exactly, I’m not sure, maybe just a general 活該 shouted into the void, but probably at myself). The other week before we met up IRL (for the second time now) I finally came out to him about being trans (he was thoroughly unfazed). In person I told him outright that I felt like I’d been using him as a discount stand-in therapist, and felt kinda weird about it (great results though! “process your ptsd by talking/writing about it in your 4th language”, who knew it was a thing!). He said he wasn’t bothered. I asked if his other students talked about the same kind of stuff, he said only a couple of them were at a high enough level, and yes, one does. I asked if he ever censors himself for the sake of his students, he said no. In terms of the things we do talk about, I feel like we crossed some kind of line a long time ago- and yet there’s money involved, so even though I occasionally help him with things outside of class (international bank transfers, English editing) I have the eternal lingering confusion and insecurity over what sort of relationship this is exactly, am I a friend? A client? client-friend? would he even talk to me if I weren't paying him I am genuinely inept (thanks ASD) when it comes to subtle (or even blunt) social cues, are these repeated inquiries about my romantic life just trying to liven up the conversation or what? (Lifelong embarrassing problems with misinterpreting this one, I tell you.) To some point I can enjoy dwelling in vagueness, and then past that point it’s just torturous. I don’t know where this is going but it’s time to get off the train. Not by way of quitting class, but I’d like to break my long-standing pattern of intense and also very one-sided emotional investment in a lone and nonreciprocating other party. Childhood attachment patterns, I know (probably the OG nonreciprocating party was my mother or something). I also have no idea how to do it! But self-awareness has got to be the first step, right?
