I am going to take a deep breath and just remind you:
Writing is messy, even for the best authors. It's supposed to feel a little uncomfortable, exhilarating, freeing, natural, and terrifying.
It's supposed to inspire you and feel like a too-heavy backpack.
Sometimes, you're going to love being a writer and sometimes, you'll feel so disconnected, you'll wonder if you were ever a writer to begin with.
Give yourself room to make mistakes and hate your work and return to it with renewed confidence that yes, you will get 1% better next time.
It's what we're all going through. Let's speed up the growing process a little by accepting the entirety of it.

Keelan rests his hand on the knife in his belt, grinding his teeth. “Shall I kill him, my queen?”
The envoy’s eyes widen and he scowls. “You should keep your mad dog on a tighter leash, Your Majesty.”
“Perhaps you should keep your tongue on a tighter leash.” Maura’s voice betrays no hint of emotion. “Or my mad dog may find reason to tear it out.”
Keelan allows himself a tiny, vicious grin. The envoy smartly does not reply.

Wards :)
@sentfromwolves tagged me to share some writing, so here's some writing I did recently for Heist revisions!
The ward was a subtle thing, relying on redirecting other people’s thoughts. It would work a good percentage of the time. Were Lelia not so versed in wards herself, she probably would have sat there another ten minutes—or however long the ward was up—before thinking anything amiss. Personally, Lelia preferred wards that used recycled conversation bits to make it seem like whoever was in the ward was talking about something entirely not what they were actually talking about.
The tricky part with breaking into wards was getting herself inside them without alerting the original caster.
But Lelia was very good.
