Hiya Anon, I hope you enjoy this little one-shot.
Small cameo by the wind god Fujin.
Disclaimer : English ain't my native language. Mistakes ahead. I apologizes for them, I'm trying my best. Also, I'm not an archer. If I didn't use the correct terms for something, I'm sorry.
Enjoy!

An arrow pierced through the air, ending its course with a quiet "tud" in the middle of the target. Lowering his bow, Kung Jin glanced toward the whistling on his right. His own bow in hand, (Y/n) gave the archer a playful smirk before taking aim. Seconds later, split parts of an arrow fell on the ground, stealing a hum from Kung Jin' lips.
"Not bad"
Wordlessly, the archer nocked two arrows, drew and shot.
“Bullseye.”
*
When downtime happened in the special force, meaning no new mission had come in, the two archers could be found, without a doubt, in the training range, where they would spend hours on end challenging one another.
Sometimes, on days where the sun shined in the sky and most of the soldiers were absent, the two would be running around camp, doing parkour and shooting at predefined targets.
At the moment, the scores were even. Both had won as many challenges as the other.
It was a particularly slow day for the special force. With little to do, Kung Jin had proposed a tie breaker to their even score. The price of losing? A favour. The loser would owe the winner. With such a tempting reward, (Y/n) agreed.
*
Kung Jin smiled as (Y/n) rolled his eyes. For a brief moment, the two stared at one another. It was (Y/n)'s turn to shoot. An arrow was nocked and before Kung Jin's very own eyes, changed to a neon blue colour. From that same arrow, five were shot in quick succession, all dead centre. Except for one. Now back to their usual colours, (Y/n) noticed the arrow sticking slightly below the other four.Less than ideal but still, he was in the lead.
“Cheater, you used your ability.” Kung Jin whined as he drew.
“We never specified against the use of abilities.”
He only needed three bullseyes and he would be the winner. First arrow hit right in the middle. Second one followed suit, sticking proudly beside the first. Down to his last arrow, Kung Jin took a deep breath and aimed. Releasing the string, the duo watched the projectile split the air. However, before the arrow hit the mark, a gust of strong wind passed by the training range. (Y/n) peeked over Kung Jin's shoulder, smirking at their unnoticed spectator.
“Lord Fujin, it’s a surprise to see you here!”
How long had the god of wind stood there, the archers didn’t know but Kung Jin suspected he was the one behind his defeat. There, sticking on its lonesome on the ground, was Kung Jin’s last arrow.
“Unfair, you plotted against me with him!”
Placing a hand on his chest, (Y/n) gasped loudly, trying his best to look somewhat offended.
“I would never do such a thing!”
Kung Jin turned in the direction of Fujin, who until now was contenting himself with watching the interactions, a smile on his face. Feeling the accusatory eyes of the young archer, Fujin chuckled.
“Wind is unpredictable young Kung Jin, it acts on its own volition.”
***
Kung Jin was still grumpy about the ordeal hours later. Truth to be told, (Y/n) had not conspired against the other archer with the god. Fujin, although for unknown reasons, had acted on his own.
Shoulder to shoulder, the two archers sat on top of a special forces vehicle. Quivers on their laps, they repaired broken arrows and crafted new ones when needed. In a comfortable silence, they busied themselves with the task before Kung Jin spoke.
“So, thought about that favour I owe you?”
Adding his last crafted arrow in the quiver, (Y/n) put down the holder in order to focus on the other man.
“I might have an idea.” Smirking, (Y/n) shifted slightly to face Kung Jin.
Doing the same, Kung Jin waited impatiently for an answer.  Eyes crackling under the orange light of the setting sun, (Y/n) glanced at Kung Jin’s lips before meeting his eyes one more.
“Kiss me.”
Blinking, Kung Jin stared at him for a second. He was expecting something along the lines of doing the other's chores or making him do something that would embarrass him in front of the others. Not this. A smirk of his own, Kung Jin leaned in, one of his hands coming to rest on the back of (Y/n) neck.
“That I can do.”

Episode 9 (Drum sisters, 3rd door)
I've been insanely busy, but this show's helped me keep some sanity points... which is kind of ironic, considering. Anyway, we're back in the drum world, Nanzhu is still his tragic self, and it's time for the first Girlfriend Discussion! Baijie makes her (very) brief cameo!
Sickly Victorian heroine: Xu Jin has a bone to pick with Ruan Nanzhu: after questioning his courage, next come his sleeping habits! How can he be tired after sleeping all day? Nanzhu, quiet and pitiful and beautifully passive aggressive: "Sorry. I've always been in bad health. I'm sorry if I have inconvenienced you." I bet Lin Qiushi is not inconvenienced…
Appreciating partner (flirt mode): …because Nanzhu simply must thank his Linlin-ge for taking care of him! Oh, the sass is strong with this one. And is Qiushi any better for telling Nanzhu to behave while he's gone? Did he have to lean in like that? Can they get more married? (Yes.)
Refusing to sleep with strangers: Qiushi is peacefully gazing upon Nanzhu's sleeping countenance, when he's interrupted by Xu Jin. She's cold, and the only heat source she'll accept is Linlin-ge. Peak social awkwardness from Qiushi: "You're too fat. The bed's too small." Oh dear.
What did you do last night?: Nanzhu's been watching over the sleeping Qiushi. He waits until Xu Jin's left, and then: "Last night, did anything happen? …I meant between you and Xu Jin?" Not that anyone's possessive or anything. Qiushi: "What could possibly happen between me and her?" It's not that Qiushi doesn't get it - the answer just happens to be nothing.
The Girlfriend Discussion: Nanzhu asks big questions bright and early: "What broke you up with your last girlfriend?" Qiushi (practical): "I've never had a girlfriend. How am I supposed to have an ex-girlfriend?" He's been too busy with… stuff. Nanzhu (eloquent): "Oh." Why's Nanzhu so interested anyway? The answer is the most weighty "I was just asking" he could possibly deliver. While looking at Qiushi Like That. While the romantic piano music is playing.
Saving partner: Nanzhu saves Qiushi, who's hallucinating and about to kill himself. We see another, blurry person (memory?), but Nanzhu's frantic "Linlin" is the only thing that gets through, and his face is the only thing that comes into focus. Does Nanzhu actually slap him? It's very quick. At least there is lingering shoulder-touching. Someone's reluctant to let go.
Crossdressing: Li Dongyan's got a crush. On Nanzhu's cross-dressing alter ego. He's got photo proof and everything! I was wondering what they'd do with novel!crossdressing - I'm glad Nanzhu's still got his hobby! Everyone from Obsidian recognizes him, though I couldn't tell. (He's just that good.)
The Perils of Crossdressing and Being Too Hot: I have no words for this conversation, just watch it. Apparently Nanzhu has no right to make decisions for herself as himself… Cue comedy music.
Sickly Victorian heroine (cont.): Qiushi is concerned (yet again) - is Nanzhu tired? Though he was the one who almost jumped off the building. And later, he volunteers to climb up to the drum roof (despite almost being pushed down earlier), because Nanzhu's just recovered and must protect his delicate health! I'm starting to see Qiushi's priorities.
Fishing for compliments from partner: Xu Jin says something which Nanzhu misunderstands on purpose. Who'd miss a chance to ask their partner's opinion on important matters: "Linlin, do I look like a freak?" Well, not at all, of course! Naturally Nanzhu then wants to know what that means, exactly... and they're interrupted by Xu Jin. At least she admits Nanzhu is the most handsome man around. Nanzhu may forgive this.
-> Episode 10 wraps up the drum sisters story, and then we'll have something creepier to look forward to.

I have so many thoughts and feelings about the expressions Angel makes in her brief comic cameo, (and Kazuya’s too!!) but us getting introduced to her like this is utterly heartbreaking!!
We see her one of two ways in the series, both canon and non canon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Serenely peaceful, even in situations where one would expect her to be rattled;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or something ranging from confident focus to righteous fury. (Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was the first game to show us more of an almost frightening seriousness to her and her fighting!)
So when a character that symbolizes hope, and good, and even stubborn unwillingness to give up says something like this:
Tumblr media
It makes us as readers wonder what’s happened? What’s gone so horribly wrong that the universe’s potential purest source of hope looks almost devoid of all emotion?
And then we see it. Then we learn what’s been going on, and why Angel’s here:
Tumblr media
She’s here as a pawn. She’s here for Heihachi’s own desires, to be exact.
(By this point in the issue, Angel’s been referred to as a multitude of things: a mistake, an associate, and a prize- none of which give her the respect that a being like her is deserving of, especially considering her position and level of power in the universe. These put her in the “object” category- which is almost strange for someone who Jin says is “the only being alive who can cure the Devil Gene.”)
But before anyone can stop him, Heihachi initiates what we discover to be a power transfer from Angel to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it hurts.
Even later, after Angel ends the power transfer on account of Heihachi’s (justified) unworthiness, he continues the “dehumanization-“ reminding her:
“Unworthy? I’m worth ten of you. Twenty.”
It’s only after she shocks Jin away from touching her that we hear what she’s been through under him; she talks about having her “wings clipped,” and being “locked in a cage,” both of which she describes as “torture” and “indignity” when all she wanted to do was.. Free Kazuya.
Tumblr media
What I think might say more about how she’s been treated is what she isn’t saying- especially when it comes to her time under Heihachi.
We know Jin’s motives were to find some way to rid himself of the Devil Gene- and Angel represents an opportunity to achieve what he’s needed
But Heihachi has no need for her. He has no reason to hold on to her beyond what he desires. He has no reason to treat her as anything better than an object.
And if Heihachi- who already values her as an object- is willing to commit the almost sacrilegious act of wielding her power by force, then it makes us wonder what else he was willing to put her through in order to reach that point.
What other lines would he have crossed had they not gotten there in time?
It makes me almost wish we had learned a bit more about what went on during her captivity- but seeing her (probably rightful!) frustration at how she’s been treated makes me almost glad we didn’t see it.

main masterlist series index
🎧: Drink Before the War by Sinéad O’Connor
and
🎧: Stranger by Katie Costello
A year has passed. 365 days. 8,760 hours. 525,600 minutes. That's how long it's been since you last saw Taehyung. That's how long it's been since you told him you hadn't any feelings for him knowing there was nothing more you wanted in life than to be with him and tell him you love him 1000 times.
You decided to get your life together rather than trashing your liver with more alcohol than you should be consuming. You attended Alcoholics Anonymous and you also had a sponsor. Ironically enough your sponsor wound up being no other than Min Yoongi. When you saw him at one of your AA meetings, the first thing you did was apologize and he let you know there was no hard feelings. Addiction is a tough battle, one that you were now prepared to fight because you made a promise and you intended to keep said promise.
You dealt with your alcoholism by deciding to throw yourself into work and while it wasn't the healthiest thing to do and it exhausted you, you figured this was the lesser evil. Not all of it was bad though because all your hard work enabled you to get a promotion one that you've wanted since before you had even landed the job at Kim Corp.
With him sponsoring you it was inevitable that you'd get close. You learned he was 4 years older than you and he didn't just bartend he'd actually own the same bar.
Sighing and beginning to get fed up with the amount of work you needed to complete, you texted Yoongi.
[You]: could use a break, up for coffee?
[Yoongi]: sure, buy me an americano with 2 shots of espresso and 1 cream :)
You snorted. While your addiction was alcohol, Yoongi's was definitely caffeine.
[You]: u should cut down on the caffeine yoongles. next think u know you're going to have a heart attack..
[Yoongi]: You would want that, wouldn't you?
[You]: pfft no, of course not.
[You]: anyways, I'm at the Cafe Jin.
[Yoongi]: No shit Sherlock, where else would you be?
[You]: I have half the mind to kill you right about now.
[Yoongi]: You love me too much, but I'm always there. Calm down, yeah?
As you walked into the cafe the smell of fresh coffee and muffins filled the air making you swoon. You always did enjoy the smell because it reminded you of your sleepovers with Taehyung... back in the good days at least. You ordered yourself a skinny vanilla latte and Yoongi's drink, paying for it before you sat at a table.
[Yoongi]: I'm down the block.
You didn't respond as you saw him strolling towards the cafe through the large glass windows. He was looking down at his phone with one hand in his pants pocket. To be frank, if you weren't madly in love with Taehyung you'd probably would have made a pass at Yoongi already, that man was attractive beyond words. All in all, your heart was spoken for.
"What're you so deep in thought for loser?" Yoongi smirked down at you making you scoff.
"You're the loser." You snorted gesturing for him to sit.
"So what's new?" He asked you. He was a relatively good sponsor and he was good at human interaction.
He dealt with alcoholism in his teenage years, but when he saw what it did to his mother he decided to stop drinking and fix his life up at the age of 18. Granted owning a bar was already the biggest form of self-control you've ever seen an alcoholic do. I mean if you surrounded yourself around liquor and other drunks your liver would have failed with haste.
"Nothing much," You shrugged. "I got a promotion offer, but that means I'll be in the field more and probably be away from home a lot. I don't know if I'm going to accept as of yet though." You fiddled with your fingers. A habit that started as you stopped drinking, you used to think it was a sign of withdrawal when in all reality it was just nerves.
"How could you not want to take that job? If I remember our conversations correctly, you've wanted that promotion since before you joined the company, no?" He asked rhetorically quirking an eyebrow before continuing. "Look kid. Take the job. You'll regret it if you don't." He said simply.
You knew he was right, I mean what did you have to lose? It was more money and an opportunity to travel, how could you even possibly think of passing such an offer up? The thing was though you were concerned about your mom, she was sick and you didn't want to risk anything happening in your absence.
It was just a risk you couldn't take.
"You're right, but what about my mom? Can't just leave her... she's not deathly sick, but she's sick enough for it to be concerning." You groaned.
"I bet you if you told your mom of this opportunity she'd tell you to take it in a heart beat. Stop making excuses, what's the real reason you don't want to take the job?" He quirked an eyebrow at you. In the year you've spent getting to know each other he's learned almost everything about you and vice versa.
It was a breath of fresh air to be able to share such personal matters with someone who wasn't Taehyung. You hadn't opened up to someone since him because you didn't trust easy, but with Yoongi it came naturally and though it surprised you, you welcomed the change with open arms.
"I guess you're right, but the truth of the matter is I'm way too paranoid to leave my mother. She's all I have which you know and I'm all she has too. My father lost his battle to lung cancer when I was three. I can't just leave her Yoongles." You sniffed fighting the tears that threatened to spill over.
Yoongi just smiled at you adoringly. He knew all the tribes and tribulations you faced in your life, but the fact that you had the heart to speak about them made him admire you. He wished you had someone that could be there for you when no one else was; an anchor if you will. He loved you as if you were his own blood.. which is why it was so easy for him to say these next words to you.
"How about... I take care of your mom whilst you're gone?" He saw your eyes widen before continuing, "I mean it's no big deal. You need and want this job and if this is what I have to do for you to take it then so be it. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you, just think of me as the big brother you never had." He smiled at the look on your face. Your eyes were welled up with tears and your lips were quivering.
"I-I don't know what to say. I truly don't." You said softly letting one stray tear glide down your cheek before wiping it away quickly. You smiled happily at him. "Thank you so fucking much. I literally owe you my life right now."
"You don't owe me anything. Just remain sober, take the job, and travel the world. That's how you can pay me back." He shrugged.
At that moment your drinks had finally came and you and Yoongi fell into casual conversation. From your sobriety to future plans at least right now you felt happy... and you didn't even need alcohol. You were grateful for your sobriety & you'd hoped you wouldn't fuck up.
"Okay, so we're going to pay your mom a visit and let her know the news of her new caregiver; this guy!" Yoongi wiggled his eyebrows as his thumbs pointed towards himself. The actions made you snort as per usual. You took a sip of your latte moaning in delight when Yoongi spoke again. "Oh and Y/n?" You hummed in response. "Stop calling me Yoongles."
You simply smirked. "Never."
2 hours later...
You'd arrived at your moms house with Yoongi and you couldn't hold your excitement, you missed her so very much and you were happy that you finally got the chance to see her after almost 4 months. You moved the hydrangea flower vase to the side in search of the spare key and unlocked the door.
"Mom?? I'm here and I have a guest!" You screamed just in case she was upstairs. Her hearing wasn't as well as it used to be.
Your mom was relatively young... having you at 19 and all, but she's had lupus from age 14 and since she thought she couldn't carry kids full-term her and your dad never saw a reason to use protection. When she missed her period twice she never thought anything of it because her cycle was quite abnormal, but when her stomach began growing that's when she went to the doctor. She never had morning sickness with you- which was a blessing for her. You were born a month earlier than expected so you stayed in the NICU until you were 8 months. 5 out of those 8 months were tough, but your mom and dad pulled through and showered you with love... no matter how scared they were.
"Aish.. stop screaming so much child. I'm only in the kitchen." She scolded. "Now who's this guest you've brought over? Is it Taehyung? I miss that boy." She was making her tea to get ready to take her medicine so she hadn't noticed the way you froze when you heard his name.
Yoongi rubbed a soothing hand over your back hoping it'd calm you down a bit; it did.
"No, his name's Yoongi. He's my sponsor and kind of like a brother to me." You explained. Your mom turned and looked at you then Yoongi.
"Well you're quite handsome." She swoons with a coy smirk. Leave it to your mother to make a move on a younger guy.
"Ah thank you Mrs. L/n. You're quite beautiful too if I do say so myself." He flirted back which made you scrunch your face up in displeasure.
"Anyways... we've come to talk to you about something important... not for sexual tension. I got offered a promotion at my job, but it requires me to travel a lot and I'll be in the field more." You got right to the point not wanting to drag this any longer then it needs to.
"Okay? You'd better be taking the job," She paused to take her pills. "I don't want any excuses." She waved her hands about gesturing you to follow her to the living room and sit. "You have my answer now what else are you here for child?"
"Well, Yoongi offered to look after you because soon as I accept the job offer more than likely I'll be on the first plane out of here. He'll just make sure all is well and really it's more for my benefit than yours so in a way it works out. Especially given the fact that you seemed to take some weird interest in him." You stated. She simply blinked at you before moving her gaze to Yoongi.
"I'm not a cripple. And I don't expect you to treat me as such. I'm a capable woman, but if this is what it'll take for my daughter to take this job then so be it." She spoke curtly to Yoongi, who nodded in response.
You sighed heavily. That was one problem you could check off. The other? What about Taehyung... wouldn't this put an indefinite halt in your plans to wait for him? Truthfully, you knew you'd never give up on him- never in a million years, but could he wait? What if he's married, or has a child, or-
"Oi, what're you pondering about?" Your mom waved a hand in your face.
"Taehyung." You spoke softly, but honestly. He's been all you've been thinking about since that last day you saw him. It was hard to ignore the thoughts, but the majority of the time you were to your elbows in work so it helped. But just like alcohol it was just a temporary fix.
"Aw. Look I've known you and Tae since you both were 9 and 10. If it's love? You'll find your way back to each other. The universe has it's way of helping those who need help the most. It's so incredibly hard to get over someone whom you've handed your heart over, and there's not a doubt in my mind that Taehyung has been thinking about you just as much as you're thinking about him. You're beautiful smart and funny. That's why he fell for you in the first place. True love conquers all my daughter. True love conquers all." She hugged you and rubbed at your hair as you cried softly. You weren't sure when exactly the tears fell, but they did. And there was no stopping it.
"Look Y/n your mother's right. True love really is such a powerful thing and though I haven't experienced such a concept myself I know that it can be a beautiful thing. Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get- only with what you are expecting to give and that's everything and more. Life isn't black and white; there's no such thing as you love someone or you don't. You never stop loving someone because genuine love never goes away." Yoongi shrugged as if he didn't just give you a sermon on love.
"Wow when did you become a love expert?" You teased wiping your tears, but still hugging your mom.
"Love, Actually. Tons of sappy romantic shit... I don't even know myself I was just spit balling there to be honest." He smirked lazily. "The point still stands, if he told you he loved you don't overthink things... you'll find your way back to each other and your love will blossom- yeah okay that's enough from me."
You simply smiled.
"For you to be "spit balling" you're quite the wise chap." Your mother praised approvingly making Yoongi fluster.
"Ah thank you, but I should be heading to work now. I'll leave my car so you can get home. The bar is 20 minutes away by train so and it was nice to meet you Ms. L/n see you soon." Before you could protest Yoongi dropped his keys in your lap and landed a kiss on your forehead. What a guy.
"What a guy." Your mom echoed your thoughts out loud making you laugh. She always did have a knack for doing such a thing.
"So want to watch the Marvel movies in timeline order?" You suggested beaming when you saw your mom's smile.
"I thought you'd never ask, go get some clothes. I never refurnished your room so all your stuff is still there. I'll get the popcorn and soda." She beamed happily making you coo. She really was the best mom ever.
You stalked upstairs to your room seeing that literally nothing changed in here. You went by your window seat and a cherished memory crept in the back of your mind, you were 14 and Taehyung was 15...
You were sitting by your window seat reading, Jane Eyre. It was one of the most underrated books by the eldest of the Bronte sisters, but to you? It was one of the finest pieces of literature you've ever read. Of course, Wuthering Heights was indeed a popular read, but that's why you enjoyed the lesser significance of Jane Eyre- it made you feel different from the rest of the world and you loved that.
"Y/n!! Taehyung is here, I'm sending him upstairs okay?" Before you even thought of a response, Taehyung was right in front of your door making you flush.
"Well hello best friend, reading as always I see?" He teased you making you flip the bird. All it did was cause him to laugh and you couldn't stop yourself from adoring the way his cheeks puffed up. You loved his smile. You loved him. At least as much as a 14 year old could love.
"Yeah well at least I'm getting smarter while your brain cells rot away as you just play video games and watch vines all day." You scoffed. He gasped in mock offense.
"How rude! Your best friend title should be revoked!" He hmphed making you snort.
"You'd die before you replace me... we both know that." You joked. "Anyways what're you doing here? I wasn't aware of this impromptu visit." You spoke before marking your page and closing your book.
"Well that's exactly why it's called impromptu little girl. Use that big head of yours." You kicked him in the shin making him howl out in pain.
"That's what you get and stop letting your year over me gas your head. It's quite irritating." You sat with your legs folded in your seat staring out the window.
"When I get older I'm gonna work as a ghost painter. Nobody would know that any of the art I create is mine- except you of course because you're not nobody. My name would be V for Vincent Van Gogh," He smiled cheekily making you blush. "The anonymity would be the best part because while being a ghost painter, I'll also be a photographer, but with my real identity. I'm thinking I'll do candid shots of people admiring my work without them knowing that I know they don't know that it's me who's work they fell in love with." He spoke so passionately about it. He took a beat before continuing. "Hopefully my career as a photographer will take off because I want to move to Paris and see my paintings in the same museums or galleries as Picasso, Michelangelo, Da Vinci , and more!"
He had his whole future planned. All you could do was stare at him longingly, but that was just as far as you could go for you knew he'd never be yours. You fight the urge to kiss him and instead decide to ask him more questions about his plans for his life. And the best part? You were apart of every moment he spoke of. Making your chest get heavy with emotion.
That's Kim Taehyung for you. Your best friend.
*End of Flashback*
Your eyes filled with tears at the memory. You had been stalking the internet for Taehyung- well "V" and noticed that his paintings were a rave internationally. It was no wonder he'd get an invitation to Paris, all his works spoke to you as if telling a story in just watercolors or oils. You were especially impressed by the fact that he'd also become a huge deal in photography, but you had no doubt in your mind that he'd succeed in exactly what he wanted.
You shook your head, wiping your tears, instead deciding to start digging through your dresser for clothes. You were still relatively within the same weight range as your teenage self so you were able to fit the pajama set you picked out with no problem. Your hips grew a bit, but your pants still fit snugly. You proceeded down stairs and saw your mom had the popcorn and soda out just as she said she would.
You didn't know much about what the future would bring, but one thing you knew for sure was you were gonna miss your mom and you were going to miss her a lot.
2 days later...
You sighed heavily as you looked up at the huge building that is Kim Corps, to say you were nervous was definitely an understatement. You were worried that you'd fuck something-anything up and lose the job of your dreams, but you were hopeful. You hadn't lost all faith in yourself and you weren't going to start now.
"Okay let's do this." You muttered to yourself stepping into the building. You ears filled with the sound of people chattering and the smell of the cafeteria filled your nostrils making you sigh contently. As nervous as you were, you always did love the smell of coffee and bagels in the morning. It gave you a homey sense and you loved it. You made your way straight to the elevators pressing the 12th floor.
You were 20 minutes early, but you know what they say; the early bird gets the worm- or in your case the promotion. I mean there was no competition for your spot, but you'd rather not be late to such an important meeting. You were going to figure out where the first place on the field would be and you were nauseous just as much as you were excited. It was nerve wracking how much you'd wanted to go somewhere such as New Amsterdam, Rome, Paris... but you're not sure you want to go to Paris anymore.
It's not that you didn't want to it's more like you'd rather not bump into Taehyung in a foreign country because... well does there need to be a reason?
The elevator stopped at the 12th floor and you braced yourself mentally praying that you'd get somewhere that's beautiful, but not too distracting. But you know how these cliche's go... Of course you'd go somewhere that's beautiful, but next thing you know, you're hit by a bus. You laughed at the thought and you knew it wasn't funny, but if you can't joke about dying can you joke at all?
The sounds of your heels clicking against the tile floors was the only thing you heard as you made your way to the CEO's office. Your legs were shaking and your hands were jittery as you opened the door. You were immediately greeted by the sight of a conference table and 6 other bodies occupying the seats.
"Ah Y/n!" Your boss, Kim Namjoon, greeted. "Your quite early, but that's fine I do love a dedicated employee. Punctuality is a big thing in the business world. Aish I'm talking too much.. please take a seat." He gestured to the chair across from where he was seated.
"Good afternoon Y/n, I'm Park Jimin, I'll be helping you on the field wherever we go." He beamed at you. You almost cooed at the way his eyes crinkled, but you held back.
"Nice to meet you." You spoke quietly. You didn't want to come off too strong, but you didn't want to come off as a shy little girl either so you decided to just speak calm and collected.
"Right on with it then, Y/n your first assignment will be of 8 months in Paris. What you'll be doing is working on advertising with out partner; Dubois Inc. It's pertinent that you make a good impression. Given the fact that you are a foreigner, that doesn't speak French, however will prove to make the transition a little more complicated than it needs to be. But I have no doubt in my mind that you'll be able to adjust. The 2 men to your right will be your assistants and they will help you with whatever you need. Al good thus far?" He looked at you with a strong gaze that almost made you cower.
No it wasn't all good. You were going to Paris... that much was inevitable and you knew that and the reality of the situation you were in was sinking in slowly. You'd be better off not going to Paris, but you couldn't say anything to your boss... no that would make you seem ungrateful plus Paris really is one of the most beautiful cities so how bad could it be?
"Yes all good Mr. Kim, I'm very happy to be able to go to Paris and you won't regret hiring me sir." You nodded curtly.
"Oh I have no doubt in my mind about that. You're free to leave. Your plane ticket and hotel booking have been sent to your email and feel free to request anything in your favor. You're free to leave, Jimin, Jungkook, and Hoseok will all meet you in Paris." And with that you held in your squeal and left the room with haste.
Though you'd be in Paris, how could you possibly bump into Taehyung when it's such a grand city? There was no way. Literally the only way would be fate; and you haven't had much faith in fate so there's that. It was a placebo to you; the idea of fate. It gives hope, but when such a thing doesn’t happen it crushes a persons faith.
As you were walking your phone rang and it read ‘Yoongles’ on the screen which made you immediately pick up just in case it had anything to do with your mom. Jeez you weren’t even in Paris yet and you were worried. This oughta prove to be harder than initially thought.
“Hello?” He spoke first which surprised you because he never spoke first.
“Hey Yoongles, everything alright?” You inquired immediately wasting no time. He simply chuckled.
“Yes everything is fine Y/n, I was just calling because I know the interview was today and just wanted to see where they’d be sending you first.” The thoughtfulness made you smile. You knew he had a soft spot for you, but this was just something else.
“Ohhh, yeah they’re sending me to Paris. Irony truly is a cruel mistress don’t you think? Whatever I guess.” You pouted even though he couldn’t see you.
“Ah though Paris is a beautiful city all I care about is your sobriety and happiness. Do you think you can handle the possibility of seeing him? On the off chance it’s possible, I mean.” He questioned carefully.
“Honestly? I’m not even sure yet, but don’t worry about that… I’ll immediately contact you if I feel as though I might relapse.” You bit your lip. You’d hoped that you would contact him… You hoped that you wouldn’t go off the deep end. You prayed. You’ve come so far and you’d really rather not risk it all.
“Y/n? Are you completely sure you can trust yourself to contact me when the urge comes? I ask because it WILL come and it might throw your mind for a loop. I just want to consider all our options. If you do feel as though you wouldn’t be able to see him then I can talk to Namjoon. He’s an old friend of mine anyway.” Yoongi suggested. That was new information for you. You had no idea Yoongi knew your boss, but then again how could you? You never asked.
“N-no it’s fine I swear. There’s a shit ton of artwalks in Paris so on the off chance I run into him then… I’ll distract myself with some Picasso and Van Gogh. You know me Yoongles. I’ll be fine.” You reassured. Though you weren’t even sure yourself at this point. But you know what they say; fake it till you make it right?
“Alright, well I’m proud of you kid. Can’t believe you’re going to Paris without me.” You couldn’t see him, but you could hear the mock pout on his face which put a smile on yours.
“Don’t be sad Yoongles, when I make enough money then I’ll take you on a trip to Paris.” You teased. You were serious though with all his help through your sobriety he’d deserve a trip out the country. And you’d be more than happy to be the one in order to do so.
“Oh you’re gonna be a big baller huh? I love that for you loser.” He chuckled softly. There was a beat of silence before he continued, “All jokes aside though I am going to miss you. Not that much, but I’m going to miss you.” He sniffed. You knew Yoongi enough to know if he got emotional you meant a lot to him so hearing his sniffles? Definitely made your eyes water. “I love ya kiddo and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. Remember that.”
And remember that you will. How could you forget? You knew Yoongi would be calling you everyday checking up on you making sure you’re still sober and just because he missed you.
“I will and I love you too Yoongles.” You smiled sadly. You were gonna miss him and your banter. It won’t be the same over the phone, but you had to do what you had to do. This job opportunity was one in a million… you’d be insane to reject such a considerable offer. You knew that much. “I have to go because I have to pack, but tell my mom I love her and be sure to take care of yourself.” He hummed and you hung up.
A day later…
This was it. You’d be leaving for Paris in 18 hours and there was still so much that needed to be done. You still have yet to finish packing and you know you shouldn’t be procrastinating this much because you’re usually a prompt person, but something- somehow is holding you back from getting your shit together. You knew what that something was, but you chose to ignore it for the sake of your sobriety and general health. All in all you were still on the verge of an anxiety attack. As if pshycologically sensing your inner battle Yoongi called. He was always good at doing that. You picked up hastily and heard his voice.
“What’s up, kiddo?” He said as soon as you picked up. You sighed in relief at the sound of his voice; he always could calm you down from anxiety attacks.
“H-hey Yoongles.” You replied back shakily. Instantly he knew what was wrong.
“Woah, Y/n are you okay? Do you need me to come over? You sound like you’re hyperventilating and that usually results in anxiety attacks… so tell me right now if I need to come over.” He all but demanded in worry. You inhaled sharply trying to focus on breathing before responding.
“N-no I’m fine… just being on the phone with you is helping me calm down a ton so thank you. You always know when I need your help.” You attempted to joke, but Yoongi remained silent. “I’m serious I’m fine Yoongles.” That nickname always softened him up and you’d hoped it’d do so right now.
It did. Sort of.
“Fuck. I’m so worried about you all the time… I’m gonna be a nervous wreck when you go to Paris and I just-” He stopped talking suddenly and exhaled a large breath. “I’m just going to want to beat myself up if anything happens to you over there.”
“Hey man nothing’s gonna happen. Have some faith in me, yeah?” You teased. You knew his worry was coming from how much he’s seen you struggle this past year, but you didn’t want him to worry this much… you hate being a burden more than anything.
“I have faith in you. I don’t, however, have faith in the temptation of alcohol. You’ve done great this past year, but if you happen to bump into Tae-” You winced at the name so Yoongi corrected himself, “That guy… the temptation and urge to drown yourself in alcohol will become so hard to ignore and I won’t be there physically to help. You know?” He spoke softly not wanting to say anything that you’d take the wrong way.  Little did he know… nothing he says does anything but help you.
“Yoongi you’ve done more than enough and let the fact that I just called you Yoongi instead of Yoongles sink in because you know how serious I am once I use your actual name rather than your nickname,” You paused. “Besides you can always come visit; so long as you bring my mom, of course because she’s always wanted to come to Paris too.”
He simply chuckled and there was another beat of silence. One thing that you loved about your relationship with Yoongi was everything was so easy; conversations, admissions, confessions, revelations… it never seemed like a chore with him. It’s blasphemous that you met him in a  bar, but you’re grateful you were a regular and there isn’t anything you would change.
“Alright little sis I’m gonna let you get to packing because we both know that you’ve yet to finish and you can’t put this off anymore. You leave tomorrow. Well technically at the ass crack of dawn, but same difference anyhow. I love you and see you tomorrow.” His voice wavered knowing he was possibly on the verge of tears made you bite your lip to refrain from having an emotional breakdown.
“O-okay bye Yoongles.” You quickly hung up and folded into yourself on your bed like a kid. You’d hoped that Paris would be worth all this emotional strain. You really did. If not? You don’t know what you’d do.
You put your “Cure my Depression” playlist on shuffle and got to packing knowing there was no more procrastination that could be done. You needed this job and the benefits that came with it. You inhaled sharply and exhaled slowly. You got this, you told yourself.
17 Hours Later…
You were at Incheon International Airport outside of Gate 6 waiting for the announcer to announce flight 180. Ironic (bit of a Final Destination reference). You were almost ready to board your plane, but right now? You were in a bear hug with your mom and Yoongi. Tears were shed and sad smiles were shared. Some shit you’d see in a sappy RomCom if you do say so yourself. Just without the romance because you knew very well there was no type of romanticism in your life. At least not at the moment.
“Don’t forget to FaceTime us everyday even if just for 2 minutes. If you don’t I will hop on the next flight to Paris with no hesitation.” Your mom playfully scolded to which you just nodded. You’d definitely be calling them; so much so they may just get tired of you. In any case, they’d be getting calls. Whether they’re annoyed or not.
“Oh don’t worry you’re sure to get tired of me with how much I’m going to be calling. Yoongi just make sure you’re by your phone at ALL times. If  I happen to bump into that man in any circumstances the first thing I’m doing is calling you. Mom. Please don’t worry yourself about me. I know I’m going rather far, but I’m a call away. Don’t stress too much. I love you both. I should probably get to my gate,” You squeezed them in one more bittersweet hug. “I’ll call when I land.” They nodded and you hauled yourself  and your luggage towards your plane.
You internally prayed (to whatever God you may or may not believe in) that you’d have a safe unproblematic flight to Paris. You’d hoped that nothing would happen as you took off. And you really hoped the turbulence wouldn’t be too much to handle. You didn’t have a fear of planes because you knew what came with them and you always expected the expected the unexpected. However, you did have a fear of dying. As you walked to the gates you imagined the song “Worldwide” playing by Big Time Rush. It was one of your favorite childhood songs and you’d imagined yourself as Jo when she was leaving Kendall.
“Last call for flight 180 to Paris, France. Last call for Flight 180 to Paris, France.” The announcement spoke as you arrived in front of the door to your plane. You looked back once more and sighed heavily. “Bye Korea. You will be missed.” You whispered more to yourself than anything. Saying goodbye to your home was a bittersweet feeling. You don’t think you’d survive longer than these 8 months. You hoped all will go well and the time will pass by quickly.”
You handed your ticket to the stewardess outside of the landing gate and made your way inside the plane. Your seat and the seats next to you were empty whilst the rest of the plane was empty. You hadn’t expected that given the fact that you were flying economy, but you were grateful nonetheless.
“Can I help you with anything to eat, drink or read? This is quite the long flight and I will be available at any point in time you may need something.” A flight attendant of the name Sinead told you.
“No thank you.” You responded politely to which she nodded with a smile and walked to the next person. You figured if you slept at least through half of this ride the anxiety you felt creeping into your skin would pass by easier. So that’s what you did. You slept.
12 hours and 25 minutes later…
Much to your surprise you were sleep for the entirety of the flight. Only time you had woken up was to use the restroom, but immediately after you went back into your deep slumber. It felt good and from what you could tell there wasn’t much turbulence… well if there was you didn’t feel it and that pleased you greatly. On your way down from the escalator you saw Park Jimin standing at the bottom with your namecard. You were shocked at how quickly they got to Paris, but you assumed they had a private jet of some sort so you’re not too surprised.
“Hello Ms. L/n” He smiled at you. You thought he was charming and damn near cooed at the way his eyes turn into tiny crescent moons. But you held yourself back.
“Ah greetings Mr. Park fancy seeing you here.” You teased now reaching him. He smelled of wood and vanilla. The cliche man smell you reckon.
“Ah mademoiselle no need for formalities.”  He winked, “We should get going we kind of have to get to HQ and I believe we are running late already. Shall we?” Jimin held his arm out to which you hastily grabbed. You almost retracted it, but his smile reassured you.
“Work on my first day in Paris… Such a shame.”  You tsked playfully. It was already beyond easy to joke around and converse with Jimin and you were happy about that because you always did hate those typical boss-assistant relationships in which the foundation of their relationship is simply the boss having superiority over the assistant. Yeah, you didn’t believe in that. It was belittling and having been in that position before… you’d be damned if you treated someone as such.
“Ah, but once we settle in HQ and send to Mr. Kim that we’ve touched base then we can explore all of what Paris has to offer. Especially the Lourve because I know you want to go there. Who wouldn’t?” Jimin chuckled softly. He was walking briskly yet calm. His whole demeanor seemed to calm you down tenfold. “Ah right… Hoseok should already be at HQ since he landed before us so hopefully it isn’t too much to be done. I know you must have jet lag.”
You shrugged though he was completely right. “It’s no biggie. At the end of the day this is a promotion so I knew I would have more work then I did previously. I worked hard for this promotion and I’ll do whatever must be done in order to not disappoint Mr. Kim.” Jimin just smiled at you making you flush. You cleared your throat. “Should we?” You motioned to the car in front of you.
“After you.” He winked whilst opening the door to the Lincoln sedan. You would’ve whistled at the sight of it, but you figured it was just any other town car. Except it wasn’t it had tinted windows and from what you could tell… a fresh coat of matte black paint. The interior was leathered up and it seemed as if this car had just came from repo. Whatever the case may be… there was no denying that this car was a beaut. Jimin slid in next to you still smiling. You noticed that he smiles a lot more than the average person and you found that admirable… In a world such as this one, it’s hard to find happiness so you’re quite impressed that he’s able to smile.
“We’re going to HQ.” Jimin told the driver in English. The driver nodded and drove off with haste.  Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more impressed by this guy he goes and gives you another reason.
“You’re impressive, Park Jimin. You’ll make for a good assistant I reckon. I hope there is never any tension between the two of us and I hope that you feel comfortable enough to be around me in order to open up to me whenever you see fit. I am your boss, but I never want to make you feel as though you are under me. We shall have boundaries of course, but other than that I’m an open book.” You spoke quick but Jimin was hanging on to every word you uttered.
“Okay Ms. L/n.” He snorted and you nudged him in response. “In any case I’ve no choice but to respect you more than I would those who’re on the same level of employment as me. So thank you for giving me freedom, but I shall not take advantage of it.” He looked at you studiously as if trying to read your expression before it came on your face.
“I’m glad we have reached an understanding.” You nodded sternly yet playfully. You were rather impressed with his work ethic and easy understanding of common principles. You knew you were his boss and that he should have more of a respect for you than the common person, but you didn’t like the feeling of superiority. He just nodded in response and the rest of the drive was silent. However, it was a comfortable silence not one of awkwardness.
“We’re here bosses.” The chauffeur, who’s name you learned is Haechul, stated. You nodded and stepped out the car. From what Jimin has told you you figured that your bags had already made it to the hotel you would be staying at while you were here. You’d wondered if you’d have your own room or if you had to share, but that was a bridge to walk when you got there. As for now… you’re fine with the mystery. (this isn’t that kind of trope so no it won’t be Taehyung)
“Thank you Haechul. You’re free to go on break. Don’t come back until we call you for assistance.” You commanded to which he nodded curtly. You really did despise the way most bosses treated their employees so you swore to yourself when you became successful and had employees of your own you’d never treat them the way you had to be treated before your success. While it may have shaped you to be the kind of employee you are now, you figure you could be way better had you been treated with more respect. Or maybe if your previous boss wasn’t such a womanizer… You hadn’t realized that as your thoughts took over Jimin had said something and you only caught the last bit.
“...Dinner?” You looked at Jimin and blinked. Was he asking you to dinner? That’d be quite inappropriate you reckon. Maybe ask him to repeat himself..?
“I’m truly sorry, but could you repeat that? I only caught on to the last part of the question.” You said kindly to which Jimin just laughed.
“Yes, I asked if after the Lourve you’d want to get dinner? Of course it’d be rather inappropriate of me to try and attend dinner with you which is why I was going to recommend a good diner that you can get takeout from.” He shrugged simply.
“Oh… well yes I guess that’d be good. I do feel as though before we go to the Lourve I’d like to visit an art walk- a street one that is.” You thought about the possibility of seeing one of Taehyung’s paintings there and you really would want to see one in person. You haven’t seen one of his artworks in person since forever and it’d make you happy.
“Luckily for you, there’s always one open about two blocks away from the museum therefore you can go before or after.” He smiled which made you nod with a small smile of your own.
“Thank you Jimin.” He gestured in front of him as if telling you to lead the way which you were baffled by seeing as though this was your first time at Paris’ headquarters. You shot him a look of concern to which he snickered.
“Just go straight to the lift and go to the top floor ma’am.” As you walked in the building you noticed the elegant interior… it gave off the perfect “French Renaissance” theme and you adored it wholeheartedly. There was a front desk; which you assumed was the receptionist. You read her name tag and learned her name was Avril, she smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes so you greeted her with a curt nod and kept walking through what seemed to be an endless corridor.
Without realizing you must’ve stumbled into the lift because the doors were closing and you were on your way to the top of the building. Perhaps you were so in awe you hadn’t minded your step… in any case this life was exceptionally extravagant. The music was the instrumental to “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. You let your thoughts take over and began feeling bad for Jack Dawson. Personally you thought he could have survived & that there was room for both him and Rose. That whole movie was rather depressing if you did say so yourself.
You adored it though. Such a tragic love story, but written so beautifully. The movie took such a impactful event in history and romanticized it the perfect amount so it doesn’t stray away from the fact that the sinking of the Titanic was indeed a rather melancholy occurrence. You were stripped from your thoughts when the elevator came to a sudden stop. You straightened your posture and walked through the doors ready to take on the day ahead of you.
“Ah, you must be L/n, F/n! I’m Jung Hoseok which I’m sure Mr. Kim told you, however if he didn’t than I must formally introduce myself.” He was smiling- beaming even and you enjoyed the positivity greatly and he put his hand out for you to shake which you did.
So with a smile of your own you responded, “Nice to meet you! I just want to thank you in advance for all of your assistance on this promotion.” You dropped his hand and he bowed.
“No need to thank me! Just doing my job. Now the office here is not so different from the one in Seoul… only difference is you’re working with more foreigners than anything. However, French people are evidently easy to work with and they cooperate because they like to get things done efficiently. Mr. Kim wants our first task to be trying to entrap new clientele.. I’m not entirely sure why, but half of me thinks he just wants us to scour Paris on our first day. Don’t tell him I said that,” He stopped briefly and tapped his chin as if in thought. “Ah and Jimin will take you to the rented house that you’ll be living in. Completely paid for by the company so no need to worry about funds unless for food.” You nodded. Though that was a lot of information to take in so quickly you respected his efficiency.
“Thank you Hoseok, you’ve truly been the most helpful thus far. Now Jimin tells me that there’s an artwalk close by the Lourve… do you know how far the museum is from here? Is it walking distance or might I have to rent a Vespa?” You inquired. You really were anxious, but you were more intrigued at the possibility of seeing one of Taehyung’s pictures and you know what they say; go big or go home. And you just left home so going big was the obvious choice here.
“Ah yes it truly is a sight at night. It’s a 15 minute walk for the “average” walker, but you don’t seem to be an average walker so roughly 10 minutes by foot. It really depends on the speed in which you walk.” He rambled on. You found it admirable more than anything else though.
“Thank you again Hoseok, I’ll see you tomorrow for the first official day of work… well in the office that is.” You smiled at him and he returned the smile with no hesitation. He bowed at you and walked off. The hard part wasn’t necessarily even going to the artwalk itself, the hard part would be not to breakdown in front of all his photographs and paintings because you know there is always a message behind what Taehyung does… you just weren’t emotionally ready to deal with it as of yet.
2 hours later…
You were getting ready for the artwalk when you got a notification to your phone; a text from Yoongi. You were expecting it sooner or later you just didn’t think it’d be this much later.
[Yoongles]: How’s the city of love going for ya?
[You]: there’s currently no loving over here, but for everyone else? I’m sure they’re doing superb :p
[Yoongles]: Ah, don’t be such a Debby Downer baby sis. You got this! So how was the first day? Hectic? Tiring? Boring? Dreadful?
[You]: None of the above actually. It was hardly a first day because well all I did was visit headquarters and met my two assistants, but other then that? It was a pretty calm and chill day.
[You]: Oh and I’m going to visit an artwalk later… for no particular reason at all of course, but you know me! I love me some art :)
[Yoongles]: Y/n… do you think me a fool? (don’t answer that it was rhetorical)
[Yoongles]: You think I don’t know what’s going on in that head of yours? You hope to see a work of he who shall not be named.
[You]: I never implied that you didn’t know what was going through my head,,, as a matter of fact I was hoping you did!
[Yoongles]: There’s nothing I can say that’ll convince you NOT to go I’m assuming… just be careful and if by chance- or fate whatever you choose to call it.. You see him? Don’t resort to drinking make sure you call me immediately. Otherwise.. Have fun <3.
[You]: Yes Sir! <3
You turned your phone off and sighed anxiously. You want to believe you’ll be fine, but there is still a chance that you may have to see Taehyung. And while it hasn’t been too long of a time well it’s still been a long time. 365 days? Yeah a very long time in your book. You’d hope that the first time you saw him he wouldn’t be too angry with you, but knowing Taehyung you knew that was wishful thinking. He wasn’t one to forgive easily- especially when it came to his feelings about something. What would he do when he saw you? That same thought was constant in your head and it was one of your biggest worries. However, you hoped for the best. You flinched at the sound of your doorbell ringing knowing it was more than likely Jimin coming to pick you up.
“Coming! Give me a second just going to make sure that everything is off!” You took a quick skim of your apartment and took a deep breath for the nth time this night. To say you were nervous would be the understatement of the century, but you were hopeful. You believed in destiny and you hoped destiny wouldn’t let you down.
You opened the door and saw- not Jimin but Jungkook? He looked up from his phone and gave you a bright smile which you caught yourself almost cooing at.
“Jimin told me to extend his apology for not being able to make it tonight he was needed back in the office for preparation things. But I will happily escort you to the artwalk Ms. Y/n.” He bowed to which you immediately shook your head at.
“No need for the formalities Jungkook. Thank you for your consideration. Let’s go shall we?” To which he stepped to the side extending his arm and nodding the same way fancy waiters do when taking you to your booth. Jungkook closed the door behind you and so the adventure began.
“What are you most excited about seeing?” Jungkook inquired. You found it admirable that he would make small talk during this walk therefore the silence wouldn’t make everything so awkward. You knew you couldn’t really tell him that this was some sort of way to stalk your ex-bestfriend to see how his art has either changed or not changed from when you guys were teenagers, but you didn’t want to lie either.
“An old friend of mine? Well, his name has been big in the world of art lately so I wanted to see if there was a chance I’d see some of his works in local artwalks. He’s always been such a great artist even when we were teenagers so I’m sure he’s been recognized enough around the world.” Jungkook just nodded in response. “Anything you’re particularly interested in?” You countered.
“I like photography, but like vintage and candid. Photography has always been a hobby of mine, but I like the corporate world more which confuses a lot of people.” He shrugged.
“That’s very admirable. Maybe in the future I can see some of your pictures if I’m not imposing of course.” You smiled to which he returned. As you were roaming the streets of Paris you noticed why this was such a tourist spot. The nights were exceptionally beautiful and you enjoyed the finer things in life such as a beautiful night under the stars. The stars in Paris definitely shined brighter which you loved.
“Ah here we are it’s past that alley there.” He pointed in an alley where you heard a violin and other instruments. All of a sudden you were overcame with nerves… what if Taehyung was there? What would his reaction be to you admiring his art after you messed with his heart? Would he mind? Your mind was running every scenario possible (Pipe down Doctor Strange) and of course your own subconsciousness was against you and thought this whole interaction could go wrong rather than right. Why did you decide to give up the alcoholic life again?!
You inhaled and exhaled deeply before smiling up at Jungkook. “Let’s go shall we?” He nodded and led the way. As soon as you reached the alley you were overcome with the smell of fresh French pastry and music. It was honestly the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. Your eyes lit up in admiration as soon as artwork came into your view. There were different types ranging from abstract to realism even cubism which you heard was hard to perfect. “Wow.” You sighed out loud.
“Yeah it’s all very beautiful a lot of these pieces took artists months if not years to finish.” Jungkook explained while admiring some photography.
“I’m going to explore more, if you need me just text me and we can regroup and vice versa.” He nodded and you walked off. Anxiety and excitement both filling you as you were ready to possibly see some of Taehyung’s work. As you were admiring you noticed a painting that looked familiar and sure enough… V was signed at the bottom right of the portrait. I mean of course it looked familiar… It was you. Tears welled up in your eyes. How did he manage to make you look better with nothing but paint and a canvas? You really loved this man. While you were awestruck you hadn’t noticed the artist himself a mere 2 feet away.. Simply admiring you as you admired his favorite painting.
Taehyung’s POV:
All feeling of resentment left Taehyung as he saw you. You looked amazing under the moonlight and lanterns and his heart began racing as if he was a teenager loving you from a distance all over again. This whole year he worked on nothing else but this portrait and seeing your reaction made all that time worth it. In his mind he knew that you would be reunited, but he sure didn’t think it’d be this soon. But is it really that soon if he counted the days he was left without seeing your smile? He wasn’t sure if he should talk to you or not because he didn’t want to possibly say the wrong thing. While he spent this time missing you he also had a lot of pent up anger and resentment towards you. It was a rational reaction he thought.. At least when you weren’t in front of him, but now he’s not so sure. He was about to walk away and leave you to it, but you looked up and he got lost in your eyes. Curse your keen instincts… You always did have a good gut feeling when someone was staring at you. Taehyung didn’t break the eye contact even as his heart got heavy and memories began rushing back in his mind 10 fold. He couldn’t. Your eyes stared back into his and your mouth was slightly agape. It seemed you two were the only ones in the world at that moment and it was as if the Earth itself stopped rotating. It was as though neither of you wanted to ruin whatever on Earth this trance was so you remained still. Staring.
Somehow in the midst of all this staring Taehyung’s legs moved and he was in front of you. Tall as ever. Still no words were spoken… until Taehyung decided he had stared enough and reached his hand up and caressed your cheek softly resting his palm there for a second. “Y/n… I’ve missed you.” Were the first words he said to you. Taehyung let his mouth speak for him before his mind could catch up.
“Taehyung.” You said softly now holding his hand that was on your cheek.
Both of you knew there was tons to speak about but right now in this moment you both thought it could wait a bit. You were in your own old world now and you both wanted to remain there before you had to face the music and face decisions that could possibly alter any sense of normalcy.
No, that’s for fantasy.. This is real life.
Reader POV:
“No… I can’t just pretend everything is okay. You hurt me Y/n.. hurt me too much. It took a lot for me to even confess and you turned me down, I understand why, but no. I’m going to need time before I can just jump back into our regular selves.” Taehyung removed his hand from your cheek and immediately you missed the warmth his hand brought you. You gulped before deciding to speak.
“I know Taehyung trust me I know. But we both needed that time. I dealt with my alcoholism and I’m better. I wanted to be better so that when we found each other again I could be someone worthy of your love. I know it was selfish of me, but I wanted you to pursue your dream here in Paris. But NOT while I was an alcoholic who couldn’t go a day without drinks. I’ve been sober for the past 365 days. You inspired me to be better and I’m so so grateful for you. You’ve made a big name for yourself and I’ve never been more proud. I love you. More than what you may think. Take the time you need, I’ll wait for you no matter what.” You wiped a stray tear from your cheek and took a step back. Taehyung didn’t respond rather he pulled you into a tight embrace and gave you a kiss on the forehead.
“Tomorrow. Meet me at the Eiffel Tower. 8 pm. Sharp. If you’re not there I will leave and we won’t have the much needed conversation we need to have.” And with that he walked off into the night without a glance back. You were shaking, but hopeful.
Tomorrow at 8 pm would change everything. You were sure.

My top 5 favourite Liu Kang Actors
5. Tom Choi
Tumblr media
I loved Tom Choi voice acting as Liu Kang in both Mortal Kombat 9 & X/XL. Tom is a Korean American actor like the Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 guy but instead he's a voice actor in the Mortal Kombat franchise. He acting in a few Disney shows and he is recently in Netflix popular Korean show Squid Games. I liked that it brought the Shaolin Monk feeling in Liu Kang and it's felt like the pride of a Shaolin warrior as Liu Kang is a Shaolin Monk like his cousin Kung Lao and Kung Lao nephew Kung Jin.
He first voiced Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 9 which was brilliant and then he voiced Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat X/XL which was amazing. Tom is such a talented voice actor for Liu Kang and it would be amazing if he done Liu Kang once again.
4. Matthew Yang King
Tumblr media
I got to give respect though to this guy who voiced act as Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 11. He was amazing had the same as Tom Choi. Even though I don't enjoy Mortal Kombat 11, his voice acting was good.
Spoiler Alert: Mattew Yang King is also voicing Netherealms new moblie game. I am saving storage for that lol.
3. Brian Tee
Tumblr media
I was surprised to notice that my favourite Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift Character was then Liu Kang. Honestly who can't dislike Brian Tee though so Talented. His first cameo was actually in Austin Powers in Goldmember. Yes you would see a very young Brian Tee in 2002 before 5 years on when you went to Tokyo Drift as the main villain called DK Takashi, who is part of the Yakuza with his Uncle who races against Sean for DK's girlfriend.
Brian Tee plays Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat Legacy the next Mortal Kombat series in the 2010s generation in Season 2. He's not like the other Liu Kang's nor Robin Shou's in the 1995 Mortal Kombat Movie, Brain wears a red shirt and leather Jacket, not quiet the Liu Kang we was expecting but I didn't mind as I love leather jackets hehe.
2. Robin Shou
Tumblr media
Out of the blooms. Such an excellent fighter. I thought he was amazing playing as Liu Kang. It's also surprised me that Robin is July same as me and his number birth is 4 days before mine lol, but he was born in the 60s, as I was in the 2000s. Even more though he is taller then me I am smaller then him.
Before Robin Shou became Liu Kang he started in Hong Kong learning Mix Martial Arts and training in China. But then he was called to try out some Hong Kong films. So he started out to do stunts even though he didn't know what stunt was back in the 80s. He then goes on to act in Hong Kong films like Tiger Cage 2 and In the line of Duty 3 with Donnie Yen and Big Brother, The., Death Cage, City War and many more He also made a Brief Appearance in Big Heat, The.
When he came back to America a friend of his who works with Warner Brothers asked him if he could join the cast for a new movie in 1995 called Mortal Kombat who was directed by Paul S.W Anderson who made the Resident Evil series Movies & 2022 Monster Hunter. He didn't know what Mortal Kombat was he only heard it from the Game Liu Kang who was in Hong Kong filming a movie with Jackie Chan.
Robin took the role of doing not just action but Chorography in the movie. I loved Robin Shou and even though the new movie came out, Robin was right he is the chosen one but he's the movie chosen one . I will always love the 1995 Movie one better
Ho Sung Pak
Tumblr media
I love him 100%. This guy is amazing Mix Martial Artist, so skilled. Ho Sung Pak was the first ever Liu Kang in both Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. Sung started doing Mix Martial Arts in around 80 or 81 with his brother Ho Young Pak. He stopped doing Mix Martial Arts tournaments to go on then to Film directing. Sung is also Korean American the same as Tom Choi.
Before Mortal Kombat Ho Sung was asked to play one of the thugs in the movie The Legend Of The Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2) as a character called Henry. I loved him in that whether he plays bad or good in movies he still amazing. Sung then came back to Chicago and his friend Daniel Pesina asked him if he could take part in the game Mortal Kombat and Daniel told him about it and he said "As long as we have fun I will do it".
Ho Sung came out in the first Mortal Kombat game in a Bruce Lee style black Kung Fu pants (Trousers), White Sneakers (Trainers) and he had short hair. He already had the short hair from Dunken Master 2 with a suite he has two different suits one suite that is blue blazer and trousers with a pinkie purple tie I don't know lol and another one with black blazer and trousers and black tie.
Honestly Ho Sung Pak is my most favourite Liu Kang in games and I always say even though there has been some good Liu Kang actors for the game no one could beat Ho Sung Pak he is the games Chosen one.
Fun Fact: Both Ho Sung Pak and Robin Shou met in Hong Kong. So when ever you hear Robin Shou saying he knows the original Liu Kang, he knows Ho Sung Pak from Hong Kong.

|| I am attempting the feat that is trying to organize my thoughts after the new trailer, and so far it is still an impossible one lol (but it’s still early).
One thing I am starting to think though, is that if my Queen here is in fact returning like she should, I'm staaarting to doubt she'll play much of a role in the main plot this time around. ;; – To be fair we haven't seen much of what this games plot will be other than Jin vs Kazuya, but idk. Rethinking Nina's quote from the last time we see her in T7, "This will be interesting to watch." I'm wondering if she might instead be watching the chaos unfold from the sidelines this time, while she handles whatever her subplot might be?
If anything I'd still love to see her make a cameo of some sort in the main plot, maybe helping Jin and the other "protagonists" with one particular issue, but otherwise I'm doubting the chances of her playing a bigger role than that ;;
And if that's the case, that's still cool. It might be a case of they want to focus more on the Steve or Anna subplot this time around with her, which I am oh hell yeah all for.
I just don't want this to be another T3 fiasco where everyone just kind of forgets her hand in the main plot bc it's never addressed again if that makes sense? I'd like to see some acknowledgement at least of how she helped Jin initially with this war and how they worked together, however brief. That'd be nice. ;v;

Jimin Scenario| I’d go anywhere, give up anything, as long as I can have you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first time you met Jimin you two were quite young. The both of you just 12 years old. You had gone down to the market with your parents. You had stopped in front of a black smith booth and saw your parents looking at the crafts, speaking with one of the owners of the booth, however you were quite bored with it all. You were glancing around for something else to capture your attention when your eyes met a boy’s hiding behind who you assumed was his father inside of the shop. He looked younger than you, although you couldn’t be sure because he was quite small, his cheeks still held onto the baby fat and his eyes were wide and wondering as he looked at you shyly. You wandered away from your parents and into the shop.
“Hi! I’m y/n what’s your name?” He still continues to hide behind his father. He steps away, allowing Jimin to be out in the open.
“Come on now son, don’t be rude. Say hello to the nice young lady.”
“H-Hi. Um... I’m J-Jimin.”
“Nice to meet you Jimin! I never get to play with any kids my age do you want to walk around the market with me?” He looks to his dad who smiles down at him.
“Sure he can. Just don’t be gone too long okay?” Jimin nods his head and approaches you, fidgeting with his hands. You notice he looks nervous and decide to hold his hand, because that’s what you mom and dad did for you when you were shy and nervous in a situation. Jimin’s cheeks immediately flush bright red but you don’t allow him to dwell on this for long as your tug him along out of the shop.
“Mom? Dad?” They stop their conversation and glance at you, fixing hard on where your hand is firmly holding Jimin’s. “This is my new friend Jimin can I take him around the market with us?”
Your parents whisper back and forth to one another, you can’t make out what they’re saying but you barely catch the end of what your mom says, “She’s just a child there’s no harm in her being friends with the black smith’s son.” Your mom turns to you and smiles. “Sure sweetie, just don’t wander too far and your guard will have to go with you two.”
“Yay! Thanks mom!” You tug Jimin along to all of the stands, showing him all of the different things you enjoy. You even buy him a pastry at the end of your outing and his eyes light up like he's never had anything so delicious before. He barely speaks two words to you, you do enough talking for the both of you as you happily hum along happily, swinging your hands between the two of you.
“Y/n! We need to head back now say goodbye to your friend, okay?” You pout a little and notice that Jimin is reluctant to let go of your hand.
“Jiminie! It’s okay. I’ll be back to see you again soon. We’re friends now.”
“F-friends?”
“Yeah! Friends!” You kiss his cheek and happily skip off over to your parents. Jimin stares after you, shock evident on his face as he feels a deep blush forming over his cheeks. He walks back into his home in a daze.
“She seems like a good friend to you.”
“D-dad?”
“Hmm?”
“I like her.”
“I hope you mean only as a friend. You’re too young to be feeling such things and besides. She’s from a very noble family. Girls like that don’t marry guys like us. I’m sorry Jimin but it’s best you know this early. Whatever feelings you’re harboring for that girl you better keep to yourself.” Jimin doesn’t want to listen, even though he knows it’s the truth. You kept good on your word, going to visit him only a few days later and taking him to the beach, the next day you were back again taking him for a walk in the city. Your guard was ever present during these times but Jimin paid him no mind, all he saw was you. Your laughter, gorgeous smile, warm and inviting eyes. The more he saw you, the harder he found it to heed his dad’s warning.
But the time you both were 18 he was so hopelessly in love with you and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He had always loved you, but now he’s finding it impossible to keep his feelings to himself.
“Dad I really like y/n. Actually you know what? I love her. What am I supposed to do? I know you said girls like her don’t go for guys like us but maybe she’s different.”
“You get that thought out of your head right now, son. I’m not trying to be harsh but thinking with your head in the clouds is just going to get you hurt in the end.” Jimin huffs and feels his heart sting at his father’s words. Little did he know you were having the same problem across town with your own family.
Tumblr media
“Y/n you are spending way too much time with that Jimin boy. He’s distracting you from your studies, you go out and get into trouble, he’s a bad influence on you. I heard from Mrs. Johnson that you dumped a glass of water right on her head you can’t act like that.” Your father is scolding you but you couldn’t care less if you tried.
“She had it coming to her! She bad mouthed Jimin and asked why someone of such noble standing such as myself was constantly hanging out with a street rat. I couldn’t let her talk that way about him and get away with it! Jimin is the kindest, sweetest, most caring person I have ever met in my life and just because he isn’t rich doesn't mean anything.”
“Oh, sweetie you love him don’t you?” Your mom’s softer voice nearly causes you to break.
“No. I don’t.” You lie. “He’s my best friend. That’s it.”
“Well good I certainly hope so. I will never stand for you marrying a blacksmith’s son. Why don’t you go out with that nice governor’s boy? You’re almost 18 now you should be trying to find someone.” I have already found someone. You think to yourself. “I think it would be best if you don’t see Jimin anymore.”
“Hah okay, funny joke dad.”
“I’m not joking. I won’t have my daughter making an embarrassment out of this family. Now you go tell that boy you can’t see him anymore or I’ll tell him myself.” Your father slams your bedroom door as he leaves. You mom is still sitting on the bed next to you.
“Sweetheart I’m sorry.”
“Can’t you talk to him mom? Please I can’t lose Jimin. He’s..” You feel tears start to brim in your eyes and your mom pulls you close to her, rocking you back and forth.
“I know sweetheart I know how much he means to you. I can’t go against your father though you know this.” You pull away from her and stare down at your feet.
“I guess I better go talk to Jimin then huh?”
“It’s for the best.” You walk out of your house and head towards the main part of town. You don’t even care that it’s quite late and Jimin is probably asleep. You’ve snuck out multiple times to see him and know how to pick the lock in his bedroom window by now. You look through the window, and surprisingly Jimin is still awake. You tap lightly on the window and his gaze shoots over to you. Normally he would be happy to see you, but his mouth is set in a firm line as he walks to the window and opens it. He steps aside to let you in.
“Jimin, can we talk?” His heart sinks at your words but he nods anyway, sitting down on the bed and patting the spot next to him. He’s been bracing himself for this moment. When you tell him you can’t see him anymore because of your status, that you never want anything to do with someone like him. But that never comes. Instead he feels you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him into you, hugging him tighter than you ever have before. This must be your way of apologizing and saying goodbye he thinks to himself.
“My dad doesn't want us to see each other anymore.” You could hear a pin drop with how quiet he has grown after this. This was what he was waiting for. Next you’re going to tell him you can’t see him, that- “But he can go to hell for all I care. I’m not going to stop being friends with you or meeting with you. You mean too much to me.” Jimin goes rigid in your arms, you pull away to look at him. He’s frozen, mouth agape and staring at you with wide eyes. You cup his face in your hands. “Jimin? Are you okay? Say something.”
“You.. want to still see me?”
“Of course I do! You should know by now I don’t give a damn what my parents say! I lo- I mean I really like.. well you know.” This is the first time he’s seen you so flustered and he can’t help but giggle quietly at your expression.
“You what now?”
“Don’t make me say it! It’s not proper for a lady to confess first.”
“It’s also not proper for a high born lady such as yourself to be in love with a future blacksmith but here we are.” You drop your hands from Jimin’s face but he grabs your hand and places it right back on his cheek, smiling brightly at you.  “I thought for sure you were going to tell me you weren’t going to see me anymore. My dad said girls like you don’t go for guys like me. I told him he was wrong.”
“You know me better than that by now I hope. It’s been 6 years.”
“That’s why I stood up for you. Although I won’t lie a part of me was terrified you were going to leave. I always had that little fear in the back of my mind because I know you’re too good for me and-” You cut him off with a firm kiss to his lips. Jimin jumps in surprise, completely caught off guard.
“I won’t tolerate you saying such things about yourself Jimin. You are an amazing person. And if anything you are too good for me. Too kind, too funny, too sweet, you’re perfect. I feel like I am being selfish keeping you all to myself.”
“You.. were worried about confessing to me first, and then you just kiss me out of nowhere.. What the hell?” You burst out laughing at his bewildered expression.
“Gotta keep you on your toes Jiminie!” He laughs along with you and leans in to kiss you again, this time lingering a little bit longer than the last.
“We’re going to have to keep this a secret though you know that right? I know I’m 18 but I still live under my parents rules. I can’t piss them off too much. At least not yet.”
“I understand. My dad probably wouldn’t approve of this either. He thinks you’re going to break my heart.” You place your hand over his heart and let it rest on his chest.
“You know I’d never do that, right Jimin?”
“Yes. I know you’d never hurt me. I trust you with my whole being.”
“Good.” You smile and lean in for another quick peck. “I have to go now but.. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“See you tomorrow.”
Tumblr media
You two continue to see each other in secret for months, both of your families having no idea that you’re still seeing one another. However one day everything comes to a head when your dad says he’s going to have you start going on dates with the governor’s son. You let Jimin know what’s going on, and although he isn’t happy about it, he knows you have to keep up appearances. The governor’s son is nice. Jin is his name. He’s a few years older than you but he’s ever the gentleman and doesn’t pressure you into anything. You two are out right now, wandering around the gardens when he turns to you suddenly. You two have known each other for a few months now.
“You don’t like me do you?”
“Uh O-of course I do! Why would you ask me that?”
“You might like me, but it’s not in the way your father wants you to. Am I right? It’s obvious to me your heart is with someone else.” You flop down on the bench and sigh heavily.
“Yes.. I’m sorry..”
“It’s Jimin isn’t it?”
“How do you know about him?”
“I came over to surprise you the other day and um.. saw you two kind of.. yeah.” You blush furiously and cover your face with your hands.
“I’m so sorry!” He pries his hands away from your face.
“It’s okay. Don’t apologize. I actually have someone else I really love too.. I am only doing this to please my parents. Just like you... Not that you aren’t great or anything! I see why Jimin loves you.”
“You’re really kind, Jin.”
“Thanks. So are you. But what are you going to do about Jimin?”
“I don’t know.. I can’t stay here because my family will never allow me to be with him. But I can’t just pack up and leave.”
“Why not?”
“Excuse me?”
“Why not just pack up and leave? There’s a whole world out there to explore.”
“I don’t have a boat? I don’t have any money that doesn’t belong to my parents?” Jin chuckles.
“I have a boat, and more money than I know what to do with. I’ll just claim I got robbed by pirates and they took my boat too.”
“W-why would you do that for me?”
“Because even though I might not love you in a romantic way I still love you. You’re a sweet girl. And if I can help a young love blossom to it’s fullest then I will be honored to do so. Both of you meet me at the harbor in an hour.” And just like that Jin is gone as you are left there dumbfounded. It isn’t long before a wide smile forms on your face and you take off running for your house to pack, and then running for Jimin’s. He’s laying down in bed as usual, staring at the ceiling. This time when you tap on his window he runs over with that eye smile you love so much.
“Hey baby!”
“Jimin pack your shit we’re leaving.”
“Wait, what?!”
“Just get your stuff together I’ll explain everything.” You tell Jimin about your conversation with Jin, how he is more than willing to help you both. All of this sounds too good to be true to him.
“Y/n I don’t know about this.. are you sure? Once we leave there is no going back.”
“I’d go anywhere, give up anything, as long as I can have you.”

Congrats on the milestone! For the prompts for drabbles: 41 please?
Thank you so so much, and thank you for the prompt! Here is a little modern AU (still ft. courtesy names tho) Wangxian and Xuanli. I hope you enjoy! Prompt: “I’m not drunk enough for this.”
"Both your brothers are coming?" Jin Zixuan hoped that he had heard wrong.
"Yes," Jiang Yanli smiled, that full real smile that showed her dimples. Jin Zixuan never stood a chance when she smiled like that. It made him fall in love all over again.
But it didn't mean he was going to be as excited as she was that her brothers would be over. He walked over to the couch and sat down. “I’m not drunk enough for this.”
"They're not that bad," Jiang Yanli said, and it was true. They were worse than "that bad." Jin Zixuan knew he wouldn't get any points for saying so, and sunk a little deeper into the couch. Maybe he could hide there until this was all over. "Will you help me make the food?"
So much for hiding. Jin Zixuan stood up and followed his fiance into the kitchen. He loved to cook with her, listening to her tell stories as she directed him to this task or that. Or whenever he found recipes he thought she'd like and her whole face would light up. It was easy to fall into a comforting rhythm of making food together at the end of a long day.
After washing his hands and beginning to work on preparing the vegetables, Jin Zixuan asked, "When are they supposed to be here?"
"They're coming for dinner around six, but you know how they are," Jiang Yanli said as she began her own prep.
"Jiang Cheng will be here exactly at six, and Wei Wuxian will be here fifteen to thirty minutes later?"
"Precisely."
Jin Zixuan shook his head. "Did you tell Wei Wuxian he should be here at 5:30?"
"Maybe," Jiang Yanli chuckled. "Oh that reminds me, he's bringing someone."
"His roommate?" Jin Zixuan guessed. "Have they figured out they're dating yet?"
This got another laugh from her and Jin Zixuan paused long enough to press a quick kiss to her hair. "I guess we'll find out depending on how he introduces Lan Wangji to us."
"I feel like I almost still know the guy from all I've heard about him," Jin Zixuan rolled his eyes. He really didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to judging romances though, given his own often disastrous courting of Jiang Yanli.
"You were friends in high school, right?"
"Yeah, small world," Jin Zixuan said. "Don't know how they get along though. When I knew him, he was the polar opposite of your bother."
"Maybe that's why they are so good together," Jiang Yanli mused. "Or maybe they have more in common then we know? I guess we'll just have to see them in action."
{...}
"Wei Ying, where is my cardigan?" Lan Wangji stared into his closet. It was organized by color and type of clothes. He knew exactly what outfits he had used, and if they were waiting to be washed, in the wash, or needing to be placed away. Thus, if anything was missing, there was only one culprit and it wasn't his rabbit.
"I may or may not be wearing it?" came a call from the living area. "You can borrow one of my hoodies!"
"How often do you wash said hoodies?" Lan Wangji asked, taking one of his other sweaters from the closet. It was a light blue. He didn't usually wear it because of the stitching behind one pocket made it look like a little bunny was peaking out. Also, it had been a gift from Wei Wuxian. It was his favorite.
"Um, no comment," was enough of an answer.
"Where is Bichen? He needs to go in his pen before we leave." Lan Wangji checked to make sure there was plenty of hay and fresh water in the pen that took a good area of his room.
"In my lap! I got him, let me save my game." Wei Wuxian came in a minute later, Bichen carefully held against his chest. He was indeed wearing the missing cardigan, and now also a good amount of Bichen's fur.
Once the rabbit was safely back on the ground Wei Wuxian didn't even bother brushing on the fur. Lan Wangji took his wrist and led him back out into the living room. Picking up the lint roller he passed it to Wei Wuxian, who took it with a sigh and a little smile before Lan Wangji went back to finish getting ready. Or he tried to because Wei Wuxian was pulling him closer.
"We're going to be late to your sister's," Lan Wangji reminded, as Wei Wuxian pressed a kiss to his wrist.
"No we aren't, they always give me the wrong time," Wei Wuxian's smile against his skin tickled. It was so easy to be with him, to lean into the warmth, happiness, and love.
"And why would they do that?" Lan Wangji asked, keeping his face serious.
Wei Wuxian could read him though and tossed his head back to laugh. "Well, because I'm pathologically late, of course!"
"Mn," Lan Wangji kissed his jaw. "Wouldn't be best to prove them wrong?"
Wei Wuxian's eyes lit up. "Show up thirty minutes early, exactly at the time shijie gave me? Bug the peacock in his own home before anyone else? Oh Lan Zhan, you're a genius!" Wei Wuxian pulled away now, glancing at the stove clock. "Okay if we are out the door in eight minutes, we should get there right "on time"."
"Yes," Lan Wangji headed for the bathroom. "Help me put my hair up?"
"Yeah, let me find my earrings."
"They're in the earring dish in the bathroom."
"Lan Zhan, I'm right. You really are a genius." Wei Wuxian skipped ahead of him, flicking on the light. Lan Wangji noted the navy cardigan he'd stolen looked good with his black skinny jeans. "Oh, are we pretending to still not be together? I want to see how red Jiang Cheng will get out of annoyance."
"We could reveal it at the end of the night as we leave." He passed Wei Wuxian the brush.
Wei Wuxian began to carefully put his hair in a braid. "Perfect. Maximum scandal."
"Yes."
"You're such a bad influence, Lan Zhan."
"Mn."
{...}
"That's a lovely sweater a-Xian," Jiang Yanli said with a kind smile.
"Thanks! It's Lan Zhan's," Wei Wuxian beamed back.
Jin Zixuan watched in amusement as Jiang Cheng choked on the sip of wine he'd just taken. It seemed Jin Zixuan still knew Lan Wangji well enough to tell that he was equally entertained. Jin Zixuan just had to sit back and wait for whatever shoe was to drop. This was already much better than any of the dinners previously without Lan Wangji.
Maybe that was just because Wei Wuxian's pranks seemed to be aimed at Jiang Cheng instead of himself tonight. But who could really say?

The Untamed, a brief summary [Part 2/6]
Part One: Sword Wizard School
Part Two: The Search for the Yin Iron and the World’s Worst Summer Camp
Ext, Somewhere
Lan Wangji is looking for the yin iron. Wei Wuxian catches up with him and makes some bondage jokes. Lan Wangji is clearly warming up to him, as he doesn’t punt him into the stratosphere.
Jiang Cheng, still incensed that his brother snuck off, goes to look for him. Jiang Yanli packs him a sack lunch and tells him to be careful.
Wen Qing is stuck with Wen Chao, following Lan Wangji, and looks like she wants to throw herself off a mountain.
Ext, Tanzhou [Yiling]
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian run into Nie Huaisang, who apparently decided not to go home after school, presumably due to his grades. Yiling is nowhere near Qinghe. When Nie Huaisang decides to fuck around and find out, he goes for it.
In Tanzhou, there is a magic florist. She has a piece of yin iron, but they’re too late. Wen Chao has already taken it. I will forget that this happened in 90% of my fanfics.
Ext, Dafan Mountain [Yiling]
The three of them end up at a creepy village. There’s a woman mumbling something about a statue. Everyone else is missing except one creepy dude at a shrine to said statue, whose purpose is to give exposition. For some reason they decide to sleep in the weird cave with the creepy statue outside the abandoned village. Kids, amirite?
Ext, Somewhere
Jiang Cheng runs into Wen Qing. She purposefully picks a fight with him and he looks like someone kicked his puppy. But oh ho! It was just a ruse so she could tell him that his brother is in trouble at Dafan Mountain without anyone overhearing. He thanks her and takes off.
Interior, A Creepy Cave [Yiling]
The statue comes alive and attacks them! It keeps going for Lan Wangji. Wei Wuxian makes a joke about it having a crush on him. They seal it to keep it from moving.
Outside, a mob of villagers who look the same as the not-a-corpse guy attack them. Nie Huaisang posits that he would like to be excluded from this narrative, of which he never asked to be a part. Wen Qing shows up and uses a magic flute to subdue the mob. She will never use this flute again despite countless times doing so might come in handy. Jiang Cheng turns up too but is too busy roasting Wei Wuxian for running off to do anything useful. Wen Qing tells Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian that the mob is powered by a shard of yin iron that Wen Chao has in his ‘dire owl’ which is a bird made out of shadow that could not possibly look less like an owl.
Wei Wuxian uses a nifty golden net spell that he will never use again despite countless times it might come in handy to protect the others while he and Lan Wangji fight Wen Chao and kill the absolutely-not-an-owl. The villagers are released from the spell.
Wen Qing tells them that this is where she and Wen Ning grew up. The statue had a piece of yin iron in it, and when Wen Ruohan came and took it, the statue went berserk and killed a bunch of people, including her parents. It also stole part of Wen Ning’s soul and that’s why he’s weak and sick. Then she goes back to Nightless City despite that this is clearly a terrible idea, because Wen Ning is there. Jiang Cheng asks her to stay, but she won’t, and Jiang Cheng is sad. Somehow nobody thinks to point out that she’s serving the man who got her parents killed.
Ext, Yueyang [Qinghe]
Somehow they’re all the way up towards Qinghe now. Please don’t ask questions about travel times. It’s my worst nightmare in my fics.
Nie Huaisang says that Meng Yao is meeting them here. Why? Who knows. My best guess is that Nie Huaisang knows he’s going to be in Big Trouble for sneaking off and thinks Meng Yao can protect him.
They stop at an inn. The waiter tells them something weird happened at the Chang house and now nobody’s there but they hear noise every night. The yin iron starts clamoring to be let out of its pouch and gives Lan Wangji heartburn.
Ext, the Chang manor [Qinghe]
Xue Yang has killed every damn person. It’s fucked up.
ENTER SUPERMAN and BATMAN, like seriously, imagine you were in a DC Comic and those two just dropped in for cameos and nobody bothered to explain who they were because they figured you would already know. Their names are Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan, and by the time they show up again, you will have forgotten that.
They’ve been tracking Xue Yang for All the Crimes and want to arrest him. There’s a fight. Xue Yang loses and enjoys it way too much.
Wei Wuxian asks him questions about the yin iron. He acts like a little punk. He doesn’t have any yin iron on him even though he obviously used it for Carnage, and they can’t find it anywhere.
Meng Yao and Nie Huaisang show up. They agree to take Xue Yang back to The Unclean Realm to be tried for All the Crimes.
Xue Yang cheekily says, “Don’t forget me!” to Xiao Xingchen, who immediately forgets him.
Exeunt Superman and Batman, while Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both stare after them longingly, clearly wishing that they too could hunt monsters and criminals instead of dealing with political bullshit.
Ext, The Unclean Realm [Qinghe]
Meng Yao shows them in and tells Nie Huaisang that the Wen sect has demanded each sect send an ‘inner heir disciple’ for ‘indoctrination’. Nie Huaisang remembers that he’s the only inner heir disciple sect in the Nie sect and panics. Meng Yao laughs at his histrionics. To be fair, they are indeed funny.
ENTER THE WORLD’S MOST BADASS MUSTACHE
This is Nie Mingjue. He is the head of the Qinghe Nie sect. He carries an enormous sword and has the title ‘Red Blade Master’. Every molecule of this man exudes big dick energy.
Nie Mingjue decides to immediately execute Xue Yang. Meng Yao steps in and counsels that maybe execution shouldn’t be their go-to, being rather permanent and all. Xue Yang can give them information and they shouldn’t waste their chance to get it. Nie Mingjue agrees. The others admire the fact that Meng Yao is clever and persuasive, and Wei Wuxian makes a comment about how Meng Yao’s biological father (the head of the Lanling Jin) is an idiot for not realizing he could make use of such a talent.
Nie Mingjue orders Xue Yang put in prison and the guard strengthened. Meng Yao delivers this order to the Captain of the Guard, who decides he’s going to be a giant prick about it. He’s too good to take orders from the bastard son of a whore. Meng Yao puts on his best retail smile and says that he’ll make do.
Meanwhile, the others are discussing the yin iron and the Wen sect’s demand to send disciples. Nie Mingjue says Lan Xichen has written to him and he thinks Lan Wangji should go back to Cloud Recesses. There’s only one piece of yin iron left unlocated and Xue Yang clearly knows where it is, so they’ll take it from here. Wei Wuxian reluctantly agrees that he and Jiang Cheng should probably head home too, to see how their father wants to handle the Wen sect’s demands.
Int, Cloud Recesses [Gusu]
Wen soldiers have showed up. It’s bad. Lan Qiren tells Lan Xichen that he should take their most precious knowledge and run away. Lan Xichen tries to argue but Lan Qiren insists.
Ext, The Unclean Realm [Qinghe]
The Captain of the Guard is still being an asshole to Meng Yao, this time while drunk.
Wei Wuxian, also drunk, has decided to sleep on Lan Wangji’s roof like any well-adjusted person would.
Lan Wangji gives him a longing stare and says ‘farewell’ under his breath like the stoic repressed gay he is, before heading back home.
ENTER MINIMUM WAGE REPRESENTATION MAN
The next morning, Wen Chao shows up with his Head Henchman, Wen Zhuliu. He’s clearly there because Wen Chao can’t find his ass with two hands and a flashlight. They demand the release of Xue Yang and grandstand a lot. Nie Mingjue tells them to fuck off.
There’s a big fight, mostly between Nie Mingjue and Wen Zhuliu.
Someone shouts that Xue Yang has escaped. Nie Mingjue makes it to the prison and finds Meng Yao standing there with a sword through the gut of the Captain of the Guard. We all take a moment to wish that we could stab the people who have bullied us. Nie Mingjue, however, does not agree, and is very upset. Meng Yao hilariously says ‘Xue Yang did it’ even though he’s literally got his hand on the hilt of the blade. Nice going, Meng Yao. I spend the next ten months wondering if that was a translation error.
Wen Chao (or maybe Wen Zhuliu? I don’t remember tbh) throws his sword at Nie Mingjue. Meng Yao leaps in front of it and gets lightly stabbed. Then Wen Chao talks a lot of shit about how much the Nie sect sucks and also the Lan sect sucks and his brother has taken men to go burn Cloud Recesses to the ground. Everyone is upset. Wen Chao gallantly agrees he’ll let them off the hook for the day, but if they fuck with the Wen sect again, they’ll regret it.
Nie Mingjue drags Meng Yao inside and they have a messy breakup. Meng Yao tries to explain that the Captain of the Guard was a big douchebag, bullied him for years, and took credit for his accomplishments. Nie Mingjue points out that this was not an excuse to murder him. Because Meng Yao just saved his life, he says he won’t execute him, but exiles him from Qinghe.
Meng Yao bids farewell to Nie Huaisang, who is upset and tries to get his brother to reconsider, but Nie Mingjue is adamant. Everyone seems to forget that Meng Yao just got fucking stabbed. He’ll walk it off.
So who released Xue Yang? This question is actually never answered! Did the captain of the guard do it for some reason, and Meng Yao stabbed him because he caught him in the act? Did Meng Yao do it? If so, why? Did he have nefarious purposes? Or did he do it because he thought it would make the Wen sect withdraw and stop attacking The Unclean Realm? Did the Wen soldiers get to him and let him out? Did Xue Yang just escape on his own? You may believe any canon that you wish. (My personal head canon is generally that Meng Yao released him to try to get the Wen soldiers to withdraw, but I’ve also written some variations.)
Ext, Lotus Pier [Yunmeng]
Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are home. Yay! They reunite with Jiang Yanli. It is cute.
ENTER A PAIR OF EXTREMELY BAD PARENTS
So here’s the tea on the super dysfunctional family that basically drives this whole story. Jiang Fengmian is the head of the Yunmeng Jiang sect. His wife is Yu Ziyuan. He didn’t really want to marry her, mostly because he was in love with another woman named Cangse Sanren. However, the leaders of their two sects were pushing them to marry for alliance reasons. Jiang Fengmian kept refusing, but then Cangse Sanren married a guy named Wei Changze, who was one of Jiang Fengmian’s close friends. Since she was no longer an option, Jiang Fengmian then agreed to marry Yu Ziyuan. They hate each other.
The two of them had two kids, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng. Jiang Yanli is not a strong cultivator and seems to have some health issues, although these are never detailed. Therefore all the sect responsibilities fall to Jiang Cheng, and Jiang Yanli was betrothed to Jin Zixuan (whose mother was the sect sister of Yu Ziyuan).
Meanwhile, Cangse Sanren is what we call a ‘rogue cultivator’ ie a cultivator who is not formally part of any sect. Wei Changze was a servant at Lotus Pier. They had Wei Wuxian and went to fight evil. When Wei Wuxian was four, they were killed by a monster. He lived on the streets for about three years before Jiang Fengmian found him and adopted him.
Yu Ziyuan is super pissed that Jiang Fengmian adopted the child of the woman he was in love with. She’s also super pissed because Wei Wuxian happens to be a more powerful cultivator than Jiang Cheng. Jiang Fengmian is very indulgent of Wei Wuxian’s behavior because, you know, his parents died, and Jiang Fengmian loved his mother and was friends with his father. Yu Ziyuan constantly accuses Jiang Fengmian of loving Wei Wuxian more than he loves their own son, constantly abuses Wei Wuxian for having the audacity to exist in her home and be a good cultivator, and constantly berates Jiang Cheng for not being as strong as Wei Wuxian and says he’s not going to be a good sect leader. Meanwhile Jiang Fengmian can’t be arsed to reassure Jiang Cheng that yes, he does love him very much. Jiang Yanli basically raised both the brothers which is probably the only reason they turned out as well as they did.
tl;dr this is a super toxic environment for everyone involved
Ext, Cloud Recesses [Gusu]
ENTER A MAN WHOSE POSITION IMPLIES HE SHOULD BE IMPORTANT YET PLAYS LITTLE ROLE IN THE STORY
Wen Xu, the first son of Wen Ruohan, is coordinating the attack on Cloud Recesses.
Lan Wangji arrives in time to find most of his sect rushing to shelter in the magic cave because the Wen troops are slaughtering everyone there.
A bunch of disciples are trapped outside because only members of the Lan bloodline can get in. Wen Xu starts murdering them all until one will tell him how to get in.
ENTER A 2 WHO THINKS HE IS A 10
A disciple named Su She, who incidentally is the guy who lost his sword in the lake like a dumbass while fighting the water demon, tells Wen Xu that only members of the Lan bloodline can get in and he could do it if he had one of the Magic Ribbons.
Lan Wangji emerges from the cave to try to fight off Wen Xu and a zillion guys single-handedly. Unsurprisingly, this does not work and he is captured. Since he’s got the yin iron, Wen Xu decides that’s good enough and they take off. Everyone left behind presumably calls Su She a jerk.
Int, Lotus Pier [Yunmeng]
They’ve received the demands from the Wen sect. Jiang Cheng is the inner heir disciple and he has to go. Wei Wuxian says he’ll go too. Yu Ziyuan tells him nobody gives a shit what the son of a servant does.
Ext, The Indoctrination Bureau, which may or may not be in Nightless City. It sure seems like it is but then later it sure seems like it isn’t [Qishan]
Wen Chao has lined all the disciples up outside so he can insult them and brag about how great he is. Wei Wuxian is worried because Lan Wangji isn’t there at first, but then he’s escorted in, clearly injured and trying not to show it.
Wen Chao forces them all to surrender their swords. Surprisingly it’s Jin Zixuan who picks a fight about this.
ENTER A WOMAN WHO IS NOT PAID ENOUGH FOR THIS SHIT
Jin Zixuan’s retainer, a woman named Luo Qingyang but who everyone calls Mianmian because of how cute she is, calms him down and reminds him that Jin Zixuan’s father told them not to make trouble. He’s pissed but hands his sword over. So does everyone else.
(A note on swords: there are strong implications that the swords are semi-sentient and connected to their bearers on a spiritual level. I’m sure I would know more about this if I was more familiar with xianxia. But the long and the short of it is that taking their swords is a Big Fucking Deal.)
Wen Chao tells them all to memorize ‘The Quintessence of Wen’, basically the rules of their sect.
Ext, somewhere nearby [Qishan]
Wen Ning is excited that Wei Wuxian is in Qishan and asks Wen Qing if he can go outside and play. Wen Qing says no because Wei Wuxian is supposed to be their enemy. Wen Ning uses sad puppy eyes. It has no effect.
Ext, The Indoctrination Bureau [Qishan]
Wen Chao tells them to recite the Wen stuff. Lan Wangji refuses. Jin Zixuan refuses.
Wei Wuxian eagerly volunteers, and then like the chaos gremlin he is, starts reciting the Lan principles instead. Wen Chao is pissed. Lan Wangji is smitten. Even Jin Zixuan thinks it’s funny. Jiang Cheng is upset that Wei Wuxian is causing trouble but he also thinks it’s funny and just won’t admit it.
Wen Chao punishes Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, and Jin Zixuan by making them do some menial labor involving buckets of dung. Jin ‘never done a day of actual labor in his life’ Zixuan is the most upset about this.
Wei Wuxian takes the opportunity to try to talk to Lan Wangji about the yin iron and what happened at Cloud Recesses and why he’s injured. Wen Chao gets even more pissy and throws Wei Wuxian in a dungeon with a terrible CGI wolf monster. Wei Wuxian nearly gets eaten but Wen Qing intervenes by using long distance acupuncture to knock the monster out with throwing needles. Wen Ning brings him some medicine to stop the bleeding from his multiple wounds.
The next day, they’re still reciting the stupid Wen stuff, or at least pretending to. Nie Huaisang either falls asleep on his feet, passes out, or decides this is bullshit and pretends to pass out, and is dragged back to his guest house.
The rest of them go on a field trip.
ENTER THE HUMAN VERSION OF PERIOD CRAMPS
Wen Chao has a girlfriend, somehow. Her name is Jiaojiao and she is the absolute worst.
They head off to a mountain where bad mojo is going around. Wen Chao is clearly planning to use all these cultivators as cannon fodder, because he’s a fucking asshole. Wen Zhuliu accompanies them, presumably because Wen Chao will trip over his own sword and die if left to his own devices. Wen Qing also comes along, even though she’d clearly rather not. Wen Chao keeps hitting on Mianmian and it makes Jiaojiao jealous.
Lan Wangji is limping badly. Wei Wuxian wants to help him. Jiang Cheng tells him they’ve got their own problems and they shouldn’t get involved in other people’s business. Wei Wuxian says, ‘but consider: I do what I want’. He offers to carry Lan Wangji, who refuses. So instead Wei Wuxian uses a little paper talisman to ask Wen Qing if she can help them out. She calls for a break so they can get some water.
Wen Chao tells her she’s too soft-hearted. She tells him he thinks too much, which seems vastly inaccurate.
Int, Muxi Mountain [Qishan]
They find a cave and go inside. There’s a steep drop off and nobody wants to go see what’s at the bottom, so Wen Chao pushes Wei Wuxian over the edge. Everyone is pissed about this, and they all have to climb down.
They’ve discovered an underground lake and the home of the monster! But it’s nowhere to be found. Wen Chao wants to string someone up and cut them to attract it. Jiaojiao suggests Mianmian. Wen Chao clearly doesn’t want to because he has the hots for her. Jin Zixuan tells him to get his grubby eyeballs off his friend. For the first time in the show, we feel a jot of respect for Jin Zixuan.
One of the other disciples tries to grab Mianmian anyway, Jin Zixuan intervenes, and there’s a big fight.
Wei Wuxian tells Wen Chao that using his position to bully others means he should be executed, using the words they had to memorize from the Quintessence of Wen. Wen Chao doesn’t recognize their own principles. Everyone laughs at him, and Wen Zhuliu looks like he’d rather be flipping burgers at McDonald’s than have this stupid job.
While Wen Zhuliu is distracted mentally updating his resume, Wei Wuxian grabs Wen Chao, puts a sword to his throat, and jumps to a rock in the middle of the lake. He tells Wen Chao to make all his guys lower their blades. But then, uh oh! Turns out the rock he jumped to is in fact the monster, which is a terrible CGI turtle snake thing.
There’s another big fight. Jiaojiao decides that this is an ideal time to punish Mianmian for being pretty near other people, and tries to burn her with a hot iron. Wei Wuxian jumps in between them and gets hit with it.
At some point, Wen Chao decides fuck this. The Wen soldiers all retreat, dragging Wen Qing with them, cut the ropes to the bottom of the cliff, and seal the entrance.
They find an underwater exit from the cave. While Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian fight the monster and keep it distracted, the other cultivators escape. But they don’t manage to make it out themselves. They’re now trapped in a cave together, soaking wet and wounded. Thank you, Untamed.
Wei Wuxian teases Lan Wangji and is too stupid to realize he’s flirting. Lan Wangji prays for patience. He tells Wei Wuxian that he went back to Cloud Recesses and that his uncle is injured and his brother is missing. Wei Wuxian covers Lan Wangji with his robe while he sleeps. We all swoon.
In order to get out, they have to kill the monster. Wei Wuxian goes inside it and we all very studiously do not ask which entrance he went through.
The inside of this monster is very gross. There’s a black sword inside it which emanates evil energy. Wei Wuxian grabs it because he is sixteen and stupid. He hears lots of screaming ghosts and such, but hangs onto it anyway because he is sixteen and stupid. They kill the terrible CGI turtle snake thing but it collapses on top of the exit so they still can’t get out. Wei Wuxian is badly injured. Lan Wangji sings to him and there is a montage of their significant moments together up to this point, because the Chinese censors apparently weren’t looking.
Ext, Muxi Mountain [Qishan]
Wei Wuxian wakes up to find he is outside. Jin Zixuan and Jiang Cheng have rescued him. Lan Wangji has already left to go back to Cloud Recesses to look for his brother. Wei Wuxian is still holding onto the creepy sword. They awkwardly thank Jin Zixuan for helping out with the rescue. Jin Zixuan awkwardly accepts their thanks and then bounces. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng head back to Lotus Pier.
Nobody ever mentions how Nie Huaisang gets out of Qishan, and for some reason I find this very funny.

3rd POV
🌷Y/N stood still, the door slightly ajar, being cautious, focused on not being seen. Her breath hitched, her heart beating through her ears. Her knuckles turned white as she grasped the handle leading ti the boy. A loud silence fell upon everyone, the sudden downpour from being the only sound breaking the piercing silence.
🌺She looked at the guards standing besides the door, Y/N tilted her head to the side signaling for them to guard the main doors of the palace instead. She hesitantly held her knuckles above the door, afraid that maybe just maybe she would make the situation more worse than it already is. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, calming her nerves,p feeling her heart beat faster than normal. With a sigh, she opened the door to see the boys staring at her.
🌸Y/N looked at them, her eyes wandering around the room until she met eyes with Jimin. They stared at each other for a while, Jimin soon then ripped his gaze away from her, Y/N gulped wondering if he was mad at her. No, she knew he was mad at her. “I know you were eavesdropping.” Y/N gulped, looking down on shame and feeling her face heat up. Yoongi scoffed at her, pleased from how she cowered the moment she heard his voice. “Were you not taught not to listen to someone else’s conversation that doesn’t involve you?”
🌷Y/N scoffed, rolling her eyes at her husband, not giving a damn about his title. “Oh. But I’m sure I was involved considering you were talking about ME.” Yoongi walked away from his position, storming across the room towards her. Gripping her chin between his fingers, he tilted her head up, looking into her eyes and not minding their close proximity. “Now, why would you have a problem about my fellow allies and I talking about my beautiful wife? Or should I say my Empress?” Y/N’s eyes widened as Yoongi had confidently blurted out her secret.
🌺From the corner of her eyes she saw Jimin looking down, his knuckles turning white, figure taking a shaky deep breath. She felt her heart break for the vulnerable man, the vulnerable she can’t help but to love. Namjoon trailed where her gaze was and saw Jimin, breaking the silence, he clapped his hands. “Now, it is dark outside. The festival is today and the townspeople are getting ready. We should get going, ignore the problems for right now and celebrate. Yoongi, Jimin, and Y/N please stay behind. I need to speak to you privately.”
🌸Everyone else left, passing by Y/N offering her a small smile as they’ve come to find out a lot about her in a short amount of time. Taehyung stopped in front of Y/N with a harsh gaze, her looking down as he was still an emperor. Arms hugging her tight surprised her, realizing that the person was Taehyung, she hugged him back even though she had only met him. “I’m glad you’re my sister. If they cause you any problem just shout my name and Jin Hyung and I will rescue you, princess.” Y/N chuckled, letting each other go and separating ways.
🌷The door shut behind Y/N leaving her with her brother and two important people in her life. “Would you mind explaining what Yoongi meant when he called you his queen, Y/N?” Namjoon sat down on his seat, confused as to what was going on, confused as to why it felt like Jimin had to be part of this as well. Yoongi sat at the other of the long table, opposite of a Namjoon and Jimin, sighing as he already wanted this meeting to be over. Y/N looked at Yoongi, her eyes begging for help as she didn’t know whether or not to admit or deny Yoongi’s claim. “I was just joking around, Joon. Don’t take it too seriously.”
🌺Jimin scoffed at the words that came out of Yoongi’s mouth. “That’s bullshit, Yoongi Hyung. You know that.” Yoongi glared at him, crossing his arms, amused at the younger one’s response. “What bullshit, Jimin? We’ve known each other our whole lives. You know me, a jokester. Why can’t you take a joke? Were you actually scared I took your supposed woman? Weren’t you the one begging to fuck one of my whores when you came to my palace a couple days ago? A specific whore at that...Eunhye? Was it?” Jimin froze in his spot, his gaze now softer, filled with pity, focusing on Y/N and saw how her mouth was slightly ajar, probably due to the shock of hearing what Jimin had been doing.
🌸Namjoon sighed as his two best friends were arguing over something irrelevant. His gaze went to Y/N as the two other men continued to bicker back and forth, cursing each other out. Namjoon approached Y/N and put his hand on top of her shoulders making Y/N flinch. She looked at her supposed brother with saddened eyes, smiling bitterly at him she decided not to say anything fearing that she will break down the moment she opens her mouth.
🌷Namjoon took her hand and dragged her out of the room no longer caring for the two imbeciles he both considered best friends. Y/N mindlessly followed also no longer wanting to be in the same room with Jimin and Yoongi. After being dragged for a few minutes, she suddenly bumped into Namjoon’s back startling her in the process. She looked up only to see that he took her to the throne room. Y/N looked at him confused as to why he had brought her here out of all places and instead of celebrating the festival
🌺Namjoon looked at her and gestured for her to go in first. Fire suddenly illuminated the thrown room, the hallway getting brighter and brighter as the guards lit up the torches. Getting to the last to pair of torches, three thrones emerged from the dark, one that being bigger than the other two. “Appa...uh gave me his thrown. Though, I don’t know why. I thought that his throne would best suit Jin Hyung. However, even Jin Hyun didn’t want it, he told me that it was mine and always was.” Y/N looked at him and smiled, chuckling lightly. “Hey! What do you mean you don’t know! You’ve always been a leader, Joon. Ever since we were kids, you always were. Every time the three of us would go on an adventure, you would lead us to places. Not even the guards could do that so they had to follow you too!” Namjoon laughed loudly, remembering their antics as children, reminiscing the good memories.
🌸He remembered how they would always meet up, at one point he couldn’t hide it from his dad, excitedly telling him of his newly found friend, his reaction when he put the puzzle pieces together that you were their sister. “You’re going to have your thrown up there in a couple days. I’ve already told the blacksmiths to design you a thrown. That is if you’d like to stay here, my dear sister.” Y/N didn’t know what to answer. She had always known that she was welcomed in this kingdom, in the palace, she even had her own chambers. But to be an princess was something she was not ready for
🌷”Is there something wrong, Y/N?” Namjoon looked at her in worry, his gaze following hers. She was staring at the gigantic family portrait hung up above the thrones. Her father’s and her brothers’ individual portraits along with the portraits of past Kim emperors. “Why is your mom’s portrait not there?” Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows, realizing she was trying to avoid his question. “Don’t avoid the question, Y/N. Does it have something to do with what Yoongi had ‘jokingly’ mentioned back there? Are you really an Empress now?” Y/N seethed in anger at the mention of the bastard’s name. “No! I am merely a concubine.”
🌺Namjoon shook his head knowing his sister didn’t understand the full picture. “Y/N, you’re not a commoner. You are a princess. When an Emperor marries a royal, they become an Empress ruling his kingdom with him until their death, just like the sayings in the vows.” Namjoon walked up to his throne, tracing it with his fingertips, remembering looking up at his dad from his lap as a child whenever he sat down to deal with problems. “You can choose to stay here, while also being an Empress for the Min Empire and as a princess for the Kim Empire or you can choose to stay in the Min Empire. Either way, it’s a win-win situation as you do not lose any of your titles. The decision is yours.” Y/N felt as if the world was crumbling beneath her, so much has had happened all at once
🌸”But I don’t love Yoongi. I love Jimin. I don’t want to live in an empire with someone I do not love. I do not want to rule a kingdom where I feel like I don’t belong. I want to break my oath to Yoongi. I want to be with Jimin” Namjoon’s eyes widened at his sisters sudden statement. His eyes wandering around to see if any government officials were present. “Are you insane? Y/N, once you oath yourself to someone you cannot, and I repeat, cannot break it. If you publicly announced that you want to break the oath because you’re in love with someone else it will leave you headless.” Y/N wish he said the exact opposite, was Jimin worth it?
🌷”I know what you’re thinking, Y/N. I want you to listen. Jimin isn’t the one for you and-“ Y/N interrupted him, completely annoyed with everyone has been saying around her.
“How do you know what’s best for me?! Does EVERYONE happen to know what’s best for me except for myself?! I love Jimin and you can’t change-“
“He’s cheated on you multiple times, Y/N!”
Y/N froze in her spot, her mouth ajar, eyed as wide as saucers, stuttering, trying to process everything. Everything that happens and is happening.
🌺”No. Jimin told me he loved me. I may be pathed to Yoongi but Jimin is the one who owns my heart.” Namjoon sighed, rolling his eyes at Y/N who had always been hard-headed. “Jimin...I don’t know if he told you or if you’re aware at least...Jimin has a whore for every empire. Yoongi’s, ours, Hosoek’s, and Jungkook’s. You’re not the only woman beside his mom in his life.” Y/N couldn’t understand, well, she refused to listen and understand. He let his words go in one ear and out the other. “Yoongi..., he is a good man, Y/N. Don’t let rumors of him mess up your perspective of him. For Jimin, as much as I consider him my brother, he’s only been playing you this whole time. I’m sorry. I know you love him. We’ve known for a long while that you two were involved with each other. But now that the announcement that you and Yoongi are married, it can’t continue. I will make sure Jimin is not within 6 feet of you.”
🌸Y/N’s uneven breathing was heard throughout the massive room, her knees giving up on her eventually collapsing and her sobs became more loud and clear. Her nails forming crescents on the palm on her hands on how tight her fist was. She didn’t mind the pain, the pain that hurt the most was the heart break. She shook her head vigorously, denying her brother’s claims. “No brother would say that to me. No brother would make up lies just for her to stay away from someone she loves.”
🌷Namjoon sighed again, confused as to why his sister won’t believe him. “If you think I’m lying to you just to make you stay with Yoongi and leave Jimin then...then that’s up to you. I’ll leave you to talk with the government officials. If they ever mention you, I’ll say that you speak for yourself because clearly I can’t speak for you. I won’t ever speak for you ever again. You’re an Empress now, Y/N, whether or not you want to be. This was your destiny. Now let’s walk on our own paths because now you have your own that you want to walk by yourself in.”
“No, wait, Namjoon-“
“I presume I will see you at the festival, Princess Y/N. If not, good night.”
🌺When the door closed she didn’t run off after her brother even though she knew she was in the wrong. But she couldn’t control her feelings. She hated him. She felt more immense hatred for Yoongi. She hated herself and she hated Jimin. But she hated her Emperor more. She looked at the portrait of her dad, sitting in his thrown in his hanbok with a smile on his face, the only emperor who had a smile on his face in their royal portrait. “I’m sorry,...dad. I feel I’ve already failed you.”
—————————-
Y/N walked out of the frown room and out into the town considering no one knew her title she aimlessly wandered around. Eventually stumbling upon the seven emperors also aimlessly walking around with guards nearby, everyone making way for them. Y/N hid in the crowd as they stood in a line, the crowd gathering in front of the. Her eyes searched for a Jimin only for it to seem like he was out of this world. Y/N felt love and hatred towards him at the moment, to think someone had actually fooled her and used her.
🌷The General of the Royal Army’s booming voice hushed the voices amongst the crowd. “Today, we would like to make an announcement concerning all empires.” The general looked at Namjoon, receiving a nod from him and stepping up.
“These last few days have been very challenging for the allied Emperors. However, do not worry as we are trying our best to prepare for this altercation. No, it is not war, however, that doesn’t mean that this will be dealt with peace either. Along with that, my brothers and I have found news ourselves.” Silence fell amongst the crowd waiting for their Emperor to finish his speech. Y/N stood in the crowd also intrigued by what news he was going to announce.

Was it love? Rant on the drama and *that* finale
Tumblr media
Okay, so, one thing I'm glad of is that I didn't actually put so much time into this(I started it when half the drama was aired and watched it on my TV while I was doing something else, most of the time), nor was I too invested (despite what this ranting may led you to believe) but I did have my phone on my hands while watching the ending and I thought I was going to loose a brain cell unless I didn't turn my frustrations into something kinda productive, so I just wrote this down. 😂
The final conflict
First thing first: I didn't get the last minute drama. It was so unnecessary, but that can be said for half the choices this show decided to make. The whole thing that made DaeOh go away and hide is literally something that we, as viewers, discovered along the way. It was all huge misunderstanding where he wasn’t exactly innocent, but not completely guilty.
All of this because of Ryu Jin, basically. More than half of this story's conflict was because of him one way or another. In the past, because of his jealousy, in the present because his former ceo had the hots for him and since she "made him a star" she felt some sick possessiveness over him. Even at the end, after some time had passed, she was of the same mentality. *shudders*
Honesty between mother&daughter and an ignorant father
And seriously, why didn’t Ae jeong talk to her freaking daughter?? Why wouldn’t she tell the truth? Tell everything that happened 14 years ago? How many problems could have been fixed with that? The kid spent 12 eps stumbling around in darkness, thinking everyone but the real one was her father and making assumptions about the time she didn't even existed yet.
This story could have been a very bittersweet but healing tale of a man who was egocentric, selfish and felt wronged by everyone and everything, founding out he actually didn't know the full story, and have him realize he was just a mere mortal by knowing he had a daughter. They could have focused on building the relationship between the two. It would have been the redemption for DaeOh that was needed (not relinking his romance with a woman who didn't even bother to get an explanation from him, the man who impregnated her, and dissapeared for 14 years) and the thing Hanee so clearly needed and wanted, having a dad. (Oh, and her whole “I don’t need a dad, so be a good husband to my mom” attitude gave me a headache).
‘Strong’ female lead was actually just stubborn and resentful
I wouldn't have minded that Ae-jeong admitted she didn't know everything. In fact, she was very far from it. That she wasn't strong, independent woman, a hero. Of course raising a child alone is fucking hard, but the thing is that she didn't had to do it alone. Trying to contact Daeoh a couple more times wouldn't have done her any harm. I mean, fine, break up with the man, but the moment she decided to have her child she owed to her baby to at least try so she could have a dad! But she was proud and stubborn, and I cannot admire a woman like that. What a pity that this was my first drama watching Song JiHyo, but I think she did her best with what she was given.
Sigh I just think that is awful that the woman I thought of as amazing on ep 1, was actually a mirage, an illusion. Yeah, she was strong in a sense, but her story was nothing to admire.
The romance (if you can call it that)
Finally, that OTP which was awful from beginning to end (and I actually never saw much chemistry between the actors). For a moment there, I thought I could tolerate them, at least, but while Daeoh started to redeem himself in my eyes, the object of his affection, AeJeong, was just sinking lower and lower, getting less and less sympathy from me. I will never understand why the man he became, could still be in love with a woman like her.
Literally any other pairing on this show would've been much more interesting. Hell, even the kids, who were adorable to watch (and for some reason got married in the end, like, I like the idea but what was that ending?). The hallyu star and Asia's angel. Gangster dad and bar's unnie. You name it.
And in the end young hot teacher had nothing to do or add to the story beyond liking Ae-jeong, just because she was the only one who told him to get his shit together and have another dream after his injury in highschool ended his basketball career. The fuck?
What was lost
The potential. The potential this show had and was lost is how I'm gonna remember this drama. The potential in its characters, the potential on the relationships, the potential of a better backstory, the potential of a better story in general.
Also, how good, plot twisty, could've been if Ae jeong and DaeOh didn't end up together, because, as irl, fourteen years or misunderstandings and zero talking are actually too freaking much to overcome. Daeoh should have focused on having a relationship with his daughter, on winning her and just her. And Aejeong could have ended up alone, as the independent woman she loved being, or at least make it interesting and have her have a hot romance with the best character, Koo Pado. Man, Aejeong had the best chemistry with him and they just did nothing with it? I saw it from ep 1, it was fire. At least use his character better, make his time longer: he was the best character and I actually enjoyed his whole story and the relationship with his son was pure love.
THE POTENTIAL THIS SHOW HAD. AND WITH SUCH A WONDERFUL CAST. GONE TO WASTE. I just feel bad for everyone involved. Even for the brief cameo SF9 had, lmao. At least they barely showed Rowoon's face.
Conclusion
Thank God is over. Among all the dramas I've seen this year (and they aren't a lot but I've made some questionable choices that thank goodness didn’t backfire till now) this is the one I barely enjoyed and regret a bit okay a lot. It'd be a lie to say I never did like it, because somehow I managed to finish it. But I wish I could've enjoyed it more.
My best memory from this drama will be the delightful OST that has been stuck on my head for weeks. That and Koo Pado. And A-rin. (Dasom, sweetie, from He's psychometric to this? Choose better next time, honey).  And all the discussions I had with @eclectifylady were a highlight. It was so fun to try and make sense of the story, because with every episode, it proved to be a mighty task hahaha. At least there was something good this drama gave me.
Also, in case it wasn't clear, and you haven't watched the drama and are thinking of doing it, don't.
Just watch something else.

Seokjin thinks back to all the movies and dramas he's seen about fake relationships and marriages.
It's always two people who make all these rules about keeping boundaries: Minimal PDA until suddenly they need to kiss or something in front of their friends or family. The constant reminder that it isn't real, and they don't have feelings for each other—obviously until they develop real feelings or realize they’ve loved each other all along.
He knows those stories and he knows they’re kind of dumb.
So, when he inevitably asks a friend to pretend to be married to him for his college reunion, he realizes he’s also kind of dumb.

The Untamed: The Living Dead Review - SPOILERS
The is a review of The Living Dead and IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS, if you haven’t watched it yet and want to avoid spoilers, skip this review.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I was disappointed with the movie. I was so excited about and I found it really underwhelming. Before I get into specifics, I would like to preface this by saying that I think a majority of the problems arose from a) a bad director and b) they tried to fit too much into an 80 minute movie. I think that it could have been a lot better with a better director and if they had made this into like a 4-6 episode mini-series.
My first problem was lack of context. I was under the impression that this movie was supposed to be Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui pretty much right after the end of canon when they go off together to explore Lan Sizhui’s heritage.  Obviously I figured out that wasn’t the case when they met up in the beginning and I only later learned after reading reviews that this is supposed to be years after the end of canon. In a mini-series, I think they could have elaborated on this a bit and established what Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui had been doing and how they ended up there.
When I was watching Wen Ning, I didn’t feel like I was watching Wen Ning, he was so different. Like, I get that it’s years after the canon so he’s grown and matured a lot, but I felt like they changed his character too much. Part of what made his character so lovable in the original was that he was kinda goofy. He was awkward and shy and a little dense sometimes and it was cute. I’m not saying he wasn’t smart and competent in the original (because he was, he just didn’t always have a chance to show it), but there’s a stark contrast because he’s just very serious in the movie. They try to make some attempts at humor with him (“call me brother, wwx says uncle makes me sound old) but they often fell flat because of poor timing or poor acting. (In terms of acting, I choose to put the most blame on the director and not the actors, but I will elaborate on that further later).
WN also had what I thought was a very interesting character arc, but it was rushed and resolved itself too easily and had no build up (again, because they tried to cram too many plotlines into an 80 minute movie). We see that he has internal conflict over being a ghost puppet and he questions his own agency, but ultimately overcomes this in time for the final battle. This could have been done so well had they given it proper time. In a mini-series, they definitely could’ve built up to it by showing more interactions between WN and the townspeople where they react badly to him (they had some, but I didn’t realize they were connected to WN’s arc until after the arc was over) and maybe some conversations about it with LSZ. I thought Zhou Yi pretending to be WN in the hellscape was cool and I wish there had been more of that.
Speaking of WN character arc, I have to address the “cameo.” It was such a joke. It was very clearly not Xiao Zhan and was just a double and I wish they hadn’t included it at all. There was a lot of implication that WWX was important to WN development, but none of it was shown. In the original, it’s clear how much WWX means to WN and it was a very important step when he decided to leave WWX. In the movie, it’s implied that WN has kept in contact with WWX and they see each other sometimes, but it still felt out of place when WWX appeared in the hellscape (also I’m confused because I can’t tell if that was actually supposed to be WWX or just WNs imagined version of him). I love the relationship between WN and WWX and I think some well-placed backflashes could’ve a) really added to WN’s developmental arc and b) would’ve provided some good cameo without needing to insert the characters into the current story (also could’ve given sneak peak into what WWX and LWJ are up to).
(to reiterate, the point of a cameo a) excitement at seeing a fav character, b) providing a glimpse into what that character (and others) are up to and what they’ve been doing since canon, c) because they are somehow relevant to the story, and/or d) they add another layer to the story. The WWX cameo accomplishes none of these things and shouldn’t have been included, unless they could incorporate him more into WN’s plot throughout the movie)
The Yin Metal. This made me so confused because they didn’t explain it at all. I might be wrong, but I thought that in canon they destroyed all the yin metal pieces? But then all of the sudden Zhou Yi has a piece? And they never explain where he got it. They never explain the manuscript either. Or what’s even on the manuscript, though I think it’s supposed to be how to build the tiger seal, but it’s also implied to have to do with resurrection maybe? Again, with more time and maybe some flashbacks, they could’ve explained this better.
LSZ was largely pointless to this movie (WN kinda was too, but at least he had his own arc) and this upset me. I was so excited to see my babies going on adventure but that’s not really what this movie ended up being. I was reminded of one of the reasons I hate The Great Gatsby. Now, I won’t go on a full rant about the Great Gatsby (though I could), but my biggest problem is Nick. Nick is the narrator of the story, but he serves no purpose in the story other than to take it from scene to scene and he has almost no effect on the central plot. I felt this way with WN and LSZ, like they didn’t really contribute much to the story, other than the final boss fight. It felt like they were just witnessing everything, especially LSZ who basically just followed whatever WN said. The story of the Xiao’s took a lot of time and in a mini-series, I think time could be used a lot more effectively and split better between the past and the present, and it would give more time for WN and LSZ interactions and actions.
The new characters. I liked them, but they and their story all lacked development. Which, again, feels like a missed opportunity. The big reveal that Zhou Yi was the evil person and that he was lying lacked a certain umpf because the story sped along to fast. Like, the very next day, WN realizes inconsistencies and the name on the grave and the entire story is revealed within what feels like five minutes. If they had more time, they could’ve really built up the credibility of Zhou Yi first, so that his lie had more emotional impact like what they were going for. Also more in depth backflashes for some better world building of the relationships between Xiao Ching, Zhou Zishu, and Zhou Yi because like I said, I did actually like and enjoy these new characters, but I couldn’t fully appreciate them because there wasn’t enough time.
(another problem I had was that big reveal was confusing to me. So Zhou Yi is just a servant and he imagined his interactions with Xiao Qing, right? But then he brings back her spirit(?) and she’s all nice? But then they imply that that’s not really her, so what or who is it? Also, Zhou Zishu and Zhou Yi have the same surname, is there is a relation there or coincidence? Or was it supposed to be implied that Zhou Zishu’s surname isn’t Zhou and Yi lied about that too? Lots of questions, and given more time I think they could’ve clarified a lot of this)
My last point for now is some of the weak performances by the actors, which I feel can probably be attributed to the director. A lot of dialogue, especially between WN and LSZ felt very stilted and awkward and did not speak to the easy camaraderie that they’re supposed to have. Just the timing and some of the back and forth felt off and lacked fluidity. I loved the relationship between WN and LSZ in the original and how they made each other laugh and smile and there was none of that in this movie, they felt more like acquaintances than family members. There have also been complaints that the actors underacted, especially the new characters, and I would disagree with, and again, cite this to a bad director who wasn’t good at or didn’t care as much about pulling out strong performances, and to the fact that all of the characters had relatively small roles individually and didn’t have a chance to fully flesh out their characters.
(sorry, one final brief thought, but the music during the final fight scene irritated me. The soundtrack for the rest of the movie was fine, and I even liked it, but a 3 minute electric guitar solo felt so out of place in a franchise that has only ever used traditional chinese music)
Wow, so this review ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would be, so let me end with some positives.
The CGI. Some people may complain that it was too cheesy or whatnot, but I honestly really liked the CGI. It provided some cool visual effects during the fights (though they could’ve toned a bit in the fight scenes) and it made spiritual cultivation a more physical thing and helped me understand why using a sword requires high cultivation levels. Were the fights a bit showy? Yeah, but I’m a sucker for flashy fights.
The next movie. You guys, I am so excited for the next movie, Fatal Journey! I fucking hate Jin Guangyao, but I would like to see more of his story that was only alluded to in canon. Also, I love the Nie brothers (especially Huaisang) and I can’t wait to see more interactions between them! I also have high hopes for this movie and I don’t think the same problems with the living dead will apply because it’s based on characters we already know (I assume and hope) and doesn’t introduce new completely unrelated characters, I think it will be more dialogue/interactions based rather than a murder mystery, plus it’s not a new story, it’s an untold story, so it’s just adding more content to the canon rather than expanding the canon.
If you have opinions on the movie or just want to talk about the Untamed with me, feel free!
