I’m asexual, and I just thought about how interesting some of the parallels between bi people and aces. We’re both oftentimes victims of erasure, and we get told we don’t actually exist.

People will say to bisexuals that they’re just confused, that being bi is just going to lead to being gay, they’re going to pick a side. All girls are a little bi, right? People will just go on about how you can’t be bi cause of this or that. You’re in het relationship, so you can’t be bi, or there’s some hidden motive. I mean, aren’t all people demisexual when you think about (they’re not).

People say aces are just scared, have trauma, are confused, or too young, something is broken etc. They’ll say we’re delusional, how could they not feel sexual attraction? If they do feel some sexual attraction (like demis, frays), then maybe you’re not really asexual. Or you’re just being celibate. Eventually you’ll like sex.

It’s just interesting to see how similar the struggles we face often have similar foundations. It’s pretty much the same argument but dressed up a bit differently.

I’m ace not bi so feel free to correct me on any of the stuff regarding bisexuality and things people will say and the stuff bi people face.
