shout out to Heartstopper for not allowing Nick's sexuality get steamrolled in the name of avoiding awkwardness or some other crappy excuse. Thank you for allowing him to correct people because respect for his identity matters more than avoiding whatever awkwardness may follow the correction. I have seen too many occasions where bisexual people will just accept people calling them gay or straight out of the desire to not cause tension.
I don't give a shit if you thought it was repetitive or cringe or whatever the fuck when Nick would say "I'm bi, actually." As someone who has been out as bisexual for a good number of years, shit like that means the absolute fucking world to me.
Thank you, Heartstopper for showing us that. Thank you, Kit for playing that role as well you have.
And to everyone else, have a great day and don't be a biphobic asshole.

If not gay why two sides of the same coin? Why attempt to die for each other in the first week? Why narrative parallels? Why metaphor for homosexuality? WHY ASK IF HE KNOWS HOW TO WALK ON HIS KNEES??? THE FIRST TIME YOU MEET HIM????

THERE IS NO “STRAIGHT” EXPLANATION ABOUT SILENA BEAUREGARD AND CLARISSE LA RUE’S “FRIENDSHIP” AND ALSO PIPER MCLEAN AND ANNABETH CHASE’S “FRIENDSHIP”????
THESE BITCHES HAD INTENSE/WELL WRITTEN CHEMISTRY AND WERE IN LOVE. AND I ALWAYS HAD A FEELING WHEN I READ THE BOOKS AS A KID THAT THEY WERE FUCKING FRUITY.
CLARISSE AND SILENA??? THE FUCKING PARALLELS BETWEEN THE SONG OF ACHILLES AND RUEGARD???? GAY.
AS MUCH AS I LOVE PERCEBETH, THERE IS NO WAY THAT ANNABETH IS JUST STRAIGHT, HELLO??? BLOOD OF OLYMPUS??? GAY.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THERE IS NO STRAIGHT CHARACTERS IN THE PJO/HOO/TOA SERIES. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE STRAIGHT EXPLANATION FOR HOW INSANELY QUEER CODED A LOT OF THESE CHARACTERS WERE.
I AM WILLING TO DIE ON THAT HILL.

HBH Bi Representation∘—✧₊
there's some discourse going around about the bi representation of Missy and Malakai being "pointless" since their current main partners (who they very well may end up with) are the opposite sex and I just want to voice out my opinion just so that it exists online that I heavily disagree.
Though sexuality is obviously about sexual attraction, queerness is an identity that exists outside of one's relationships and especially with Malakai and how he was exploring his sexuality at the beginning, I saw myself in all the uncertainty, in all the chaos, in all his overdramatic spiraling, to say the least.
They are more than their partners and I personally never felt like I was being misrepresented just because of who they were currently with.
But also, it's so useless for me to track how many hetero-presenting relationships there are on this show when the biggest representation win for me is that this actually feels like a queer community. The HBH characters feel more than a sum of their parts, compared to other shows/film where even if there are a few really good representations of queer people, the main group as a whole doesn't necessarily feel like that queer community my younger self was seeking all their life.
In truth, there are so many ways these characters could be romantically linked which would make for really interesting dynamics. And to me, every single one has a chance of becoming a plausible canon scenario which makes Heartbreak High such a groundbreaking show. I have my ships and my OTPs but I don't see how I could ever lose when the group as a whole truly feels like a super warm and safe and gay af found family regardless of who ends up with who.

reasons the mutant mayhem writers should let raphael be bisexual:
humans are not at all the only species to have gay relationships! gay turtles happen!
seeing raph, especially this raph, have a crush would be hilarious
what would his dad & brothers’ reaction be?? especially since splinter knows so vividly the pain that comes from discrimination by humans, i can’t help but think that none of them would think anything bad of it because none of them have ever been humans (and therefore had an opportunity to develop an internalized bias). and, especially if splinter found out anything negative had happened to raph because of it (e.g. bullying at school), i can only imagine he’d get even more protective and i want to see that explored (and a bonus: finally a supportive parent in media)
i, as a queer person, would sob so hard seeing a character i’ve loved since i was seven representing someone like me in a franchise so huge as tmnt. i would buy all your tickets watch your show a million times if you had good queer representation in this character (or any of the turtles actually but this post is about raph)
homophobic viewers ain’t shit ❤️ would you rather have a few more 65 year old bigoted white male viewers, or help queer tmnt fans everywhere reinforce the idea that they can be loved?
straight people have literally every other character. i’m just asking for one.

“Lestat is bi,” I say into a microphone.
The biphobes and media illiterates boo.
“They’re right,” come a soothing French voice and an astute writerly voice.
The voices in question are Anne Rice and Lestat de Lioncourt himself.
