btw. your search for the most morally upright and ethical piece of media that has the most correct “representation” will destroy your ability to find the most profound and beautiful and human of stories. and may even destroy the stories themselves before they are created. if you even care.

#the search for the Ideal Representation is both unattainable and soul-crushing. childrens cartoons moral codes are not #the best way to judge a piece of media #and the stories created by the very people in the communities that are most silenced are always the first ones to be #targeted for their Problematic Factors #as if any story can properly encapsulate the breadth of every complex human experience in one go #something isn't inherently deserving of being reduced to Irredeemable Media status just because you cannot personally relate to it #on the other hand approaching every single story as if its only value is its Shipping Status and how you can #incorporate it into your identity (and stake your Moral Uprightness based on how Ethically you consume said media)#is not necessarily any better. but different post is needed.#aughhhh bite bite chomp kill

i tried watching the 1st movie and i couldn't move on from the very ridiculous premises of how half of class 1A made it to that island, my point is that there's no way that deku doesn't know about bakugo's summer plans, so this is what i imagine went down a week before the movie takes place

its kinda funny that the chaotix are like the only characters who mention having to pay rent or buy food or whatever and theyll take any job that pays because theyre desperate for money but none of the other characters are struggling in this department at all even though most of them dont seem to have jobs. its like the concept of needing money to live exists for no one in the sonic universe EXCEPT for vector espio and charmy

#sonic actively chooses to not have a house or a job or anything and hes fine ?#like he never seems to have any problems that are a direct result of this lifestyle. hes just chilling doing whatever he wants #tails has MULTIPLE houses/labs and doesnt seem to struggle to pay for them or anything. assuming he even has to pay for them at all #but vector is out here struggling to pay rent even though hes one of the only characters who we know actually has a job #do they just not demand money from tails because he helps save the world so often and is also 8 years old #do they just only target adults with this sort of thing. and thats why vector needs money so bad while no one else does .#and espio and charmy despite being minors have to bear the curse as well because they live with him

I feel like (in my opinion) a lot of people misinterpret why Lucas was sad after seeing his friends celebrate winning the DnD campaign.

I don't think he was sad because his friends ditched his game to play DnD, because he already knew they weren't at the game. He saw that there was an empty spot for them.

And, yes, that could've him being hurt by it, but the way he reacts was more a sense of realisation.

I think this is the moment he realises that he isn't happy being popular. That night he finally got what he wanted. He wanted to have his moment, to be part of the team, to feel like a winner. He finally reached "popularity" and yet he isn't happy. Or – he isn't as happy as he would've been winning the campaign with his friends.

Like we see him try to put on a smile when Patrick comes to get him for the party, but it doesn't stick. He isn't happy. This isn't what he wants.

And this is literally confirmed in his monologue to Jason. It's the moment Lucas accepts that he's okay with being a "freak." He's okay with who he is and he doesn't have to change.

This show is an anthem for being different. For accepting who you are. And that's what Lucas's story is.

I'm obsessed with the idea of a mischief maker Astarion. Like, that man has spent so long without autonomy that he uses all of it just to be a chronic little shit. Imagine this: Astarion, bored, simply needs to cause mischief. His hands are twitchy and he simply cannot keep them to himself.

So he randomly gets up, walks over to where (probably Wyll) is like preparing vegtables for the night while Karlach stands beside him giving him terrible cooking advice. And Astarion just. Nonchalantly walks over, picks up a carrot, and walks away with it. Bites into it, too. Makes sure they see him do it. They know he doesn't need to eat it. He knows they know he doesn't need to eat it. He's a fucking vampire. But he does, and they can't do shit about it. Or like. He just walks up to Gale, plucks the book from his hands, and starts reading. Stretches out, gets comfy, makes sure to make use of all of Gale's one pillow (because you know Gale is the type of man to have only one pillow) And just. Doesn't say anything.

And what's Gale gonna do about it?? Get mad? Astarion doesn't care. It's funny.

honestly one of the biggest questions i had in regards to vice housewarden deuce was: so is the hat a vice thing or a trey thing?

and once again consulting my lil circle of friends, i landed on it actually being a cater thing. trey’s whole thing is that he doesn’t like to stand out or be noticed so i thought it was funny that he just walked around with a hat when no one else did. the thought was cater was who suggested trey wore a hat so people could tell he’s was vice, trey objected, but in the very few bets trey has ever lost against cater he winds up wearing the hat.

deuce continues the legacy, believing the hat was just part of the uniform. he doesn’t realize this isn’t the case until the seniors drop back around when the sdc is back and trey has to break it to him. at that point tho, it’s already become a thing, and deuce continues to wear the hat.

that aside, the way deuce became vice was pretty simple. ace asked him to. in regular ace fashion though, he went: well, who ELSE was i gonna ask? it’s not like i gotta lotta options.

but we all know that even if he did, deuce would’ve been his choice anyway.

i mentioned in the tags of the previous post that deuce is constantly on ace’s ass over his housewarden duties— but unlike ruggie and jamil who ran around doing everything for their housewardens— deuce simply enforces. deuce holds him accountable. and this is generally what deuce does in the grand scheme of the dorm as well.

when ace gives an order, deuce ensures this is carried out and he’s rather good at it. it’s something i wanna explore more during his sophomore year as by the time he’s a junior i feel deuce is far more at peace with who he is and how he uses his past experiences, but because deuce is far more empathetic and willing to be more open with others, dorm members find themselves listening to deuce more than they do ace. (i have a trio of triplet ocs who only exclusively listen to deuce, even when riddle was still around, and it’s because deuce had come to accept his hotbloodedness and learned how to use it to connect with others.)

deuce is aware he doesn’t have the sharp wit ace does or the commanding presence riddle did, but his interpersonal skills are leagues beyond.

he’s more at ease with letting his more passionate side come out when he needs to put his foot down and he’s a fantastic motivator. while he might be second in command, i like the idea of junior year really honing his leadership skills that he eventually takes with him when he sets his sights on the arcane response unit. you can pry high ranking a.r.u officer!deuce from my cold dead hands :)

i think trans-affirming cisfeminism's problem is that it views trans people as a way of analyzing cis gender relations, so trans women are going from the status of cis men to cis women, & trans men vice-versa. there is no appreciation for "trans" as its own status, because that would require viewing transphobia as something the patriarchy does on purpose instead of like. something it trips into on its quest to oppress cis women exclusively. and this is also why by and large feminism (including trans feminists) has fucked sucked at talking about NB/GQ people's experiences without binarizing them

Something i really like about Merlin is how they didn’t make love a redemptive force. Uther loves both his children very much -- doesn’t make him a good man or even necessarily a good father. Merlin and Arthur love each other so much, but it doesn’t save either of them, nor does it always makes them better -- oftentimes, it makes them worse. It makes the love no less compelling or meaningful -- in my opinion, it only makes it more so, and it’s a more realistic approach to love. Thoughts and feelings!
