#and what it meant for the relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan

on my hands and knees, BEGGING the fandom to stop saying Qui-Gon abandoned Obi-Wan on Melida/Daan.
Look, if you haven't read the book, THIS is how the confrontation actually plays out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like even without the added context of the entire book, it's pretty clear that Qui-Gon is giving him a CHOICE, one that Obi-Wan seems pretty well-informed about what it means and the consequences for him.
But like, fine. Without context, it might seem that Qui-Gon isn't being fair because all Obi-Wan wants to do is help these people. I have two arguments against though, 1) other options as to how to help these people are brought up during the narrative, ones more in-line with how the Jedi operate, and 2) Obi-Wan's predominant reason for wanting to stay is not because he wants to help.
This is one of the very first options we encounter as to how this issue could be resolved, or at least helped:
Tumblr media
This is shortly after they first meet the Young and comes from Cerasi herself, one of the leaders of the group. Asking for more Jedi support or at least broadcasting the situation so that maybe other organizations within the galaxy can help. Which is well-within their means as Jedi to at least try and get more support, and doesn't go against their roles as diplomats and peace keepers. (Obi-Wan, of course, doesn't even bother trying this route, nor does he bring up this possibility with Qui-Gon so we could at least see it being debated and how viable it would be.)
And of course there IS a more hands-on approach that they could take:
Tumblr media
Qui-Gon himself tries to come up with a more diplomatic and objective way to broker peace. And the mission was already completed by the way. They were only supposed to rescue Tahl and MAYBE broker peace, but rescuing the other Jedi was the priority. Yoda even tells him before this moment to leave the planet with Obi-Wan as soon as possible because the situation is just too volatile, and he almost lost one Jedi in an effort to help. Qui-Gon is only doing this because he knows how important this has become for Obi-Wan. (And if anyone tries to tell me Qui-Gon doesn't love Obi-Wan, imma start swinging)
It doesn't work, of course. Everyone living on this planet has been steeped in so much anger, hatred, and revenge, that no side, not even the Young are actually willing to talk and really reach for peace. For all that Cerasi and Nield say they want Jedi support, they don't. Not really. Qui-Gon gets stonewalled by them. Both of them mock Obi-Wan whenever he listens to Qui-Gon. What they actually want is for the Jedi to join their army and help them make the Elders listen to them. This is why Yoda wants them to get the hell outta dodge and Qui-Gon feels uneasy and like they can't actually help here. No one actually wants to listen to reason, and the Jedi are not supposed to be soldiers fighting in wars. It gets incredibly obvious in the next book, especially on Nield's end that he wants revenge (a young little warmonger, his parents would be so proud), but honestly? I think we can see it even in this book.
Tumblr media
Hey, did you guys know there's a bunch of kids living away from this war. Like, thousands of them, actually. They literally do not have to fight. Nield could take his group of kids (taking the factory working and conscripted kids with him) and fuck off and let the Elders kill each other, and only this generation would be left. They could ask for resources and protection for their new settlement from the Jedi or galaxy instead of manpower to back up their cause and help fight in a war. If Nield ACTUALLY cared about stopping the war and wasn't out for revenge, this would probably be the best choice.
But this possibility never gets brought up, ever, because Nield hates the Elders and wants "justice", Obi-Wan is too inexperienced to realize this is an option, and no one tells Qui-Gon until it's already too late and the Young have declared war on the Elders if they don’t agree to a cease-fire.
All of these options are a more Jedi way of handling the situation in my opinion. Unbiased and working towards actual peace and the end of violence instead of perpetuating it.
And as much as I love Obi-Wan and I know his heart is in the right place, Obi-Wan doesn't care about that, about doing things the Jedi way. Obi-Wan is very clearly taking a specific side in this conflict. I'm not going to put up all the screenshots I took because there are already a lot in this post (and there are. so many more i could put up), but I have quite a few where it's explicit that Obi-Wan is not taking the side of the Young because it's the objectively correct thing to do, but because he likes them. He feels a sense of community with them. He wants to help them, not as a Jedi but as a friend. He is getting involved. Attached.
And, look, I'm not here to argue the morality of that choice. Choosing a different way of life isn't a failure or flaw. Helping your friends in whatever way you can is good. Wanting to stop war and reach for peace is right. There's probably a bunch of people who think Obi-Wan is making the right choice here, and while I might disagree, I can certainly see where they're coming from. I just feel like there's a huge misconception of what actually happened on this planet and what Qui-Gon’s ultimatum is actually about.
Obi-Wan has snuck out time and again to help the Young.
Obi-Wan has used their starfighter, their ONLY transport off the planet, to help the Young on a mission that could very well have shot down the ship. They could have ended up stranded on this planet and might have lead to Tahl's, the rescued Jedi's, death.
Obi-Wan has not been acting like a Jedi. Qui-Gon knows this. Obi-Wan knows this. And in that moment, Qui-Gon is telling him "helping and supporting the Young in such a personal and attached manner is not the way of the Jedi. Do you want to continue on this path?"
And Obi-Wan makes his choice.
(And if anyone tries to argue that Qui-Gon should have brought Obi-Wan with him anyway instead of letting him stay on a war-torn planet, I'm going to start screaming. Yeah, no shit. In the real world, that's probably how he should have reacted.
But this isn't the real world. It's a kid's book. Where kids are the main characters and they go into dangerous situations. So the children reading can see themselves in them and learn how to be brave. How to navigate difficult situations. To learn it's okay to choose a path and maybe realize at some point it isn't what you wanted at all.)

Prompt - ‘Do something, babe, say something. Lose something, babe, risk something. Choose something babe, I got nothing to believe, unless you're choosing me.’
Notes - I know I posted a House version of this yesterday but this song has such a hold on me so here's Obi-Wan's version.
Tumblr media
You had known Obi-Wan your whole life, had trained by his side since you were children and formed a friendship that had the older Jedi raising their eyebrows and whispering about attachments. You had been inseparable since you’d met, drawn to one another like it was the will of the Force and never once drifted apart from each other in all your years together.
It wasn’t until you were a few years older, well into your Padawan training, that you both began to see your friendship had transitioned into something more, something that had you feeling lighter than ever, something that had your chest feeling warm and your cheeks heating up.
You were in love with Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan who was always there when you needed him, Obi-Wan who was always ready to pull you into his arms and talk about everything and nothing for hours, Obi-Wan who never hesitated to stand up for you when you let people put you down. You were in love with the man who stood for everything good, who was so kind and patient, who never gave you anything but fond and happy memories.
You loved him and you didn’t know what to do. What was there to do when you dedicated your whole life to an Order that forbade attachments? You couldn’t fathom how the Order could think something as beautiful as the feelings you felt for Obi-Wan could possibly lead you down a Dark path.
Obi-Wan had known he was in love with you for a long time, from the moment his gaze started to linger on you for a little longer when you looked away, from the moment he realised he longed for your company when you were pulled apart by separate missions, from the moment he realised all he wanted to do when you smiled at him was to pull you in and taste your lips.
He hadn’t been able to stop himself from doing just that when he was finally able to steal a moment alone with you when you returned from a mission two weeks later than intended after peace talks had turned violent and you and your Master had gotten caught in the midst of it.
You hadn’t had more than a moment to register what was happening before you felt Obi-Wan’s lips on yours the second you walked into the room, freezing for a moment before sinking into the kiss, relaxing for the first time in weeks as your hands gripped Obi-Wan’s robes, both of you needing to assure yourselves you were safe.
From there everything evolved until you were sneaking around the Temple, keeping your relationship a secret, knowing you were breaking the rules and not caring if it meant you got to call Obi-Wan yours. It didn’t matter that you couldn’t tell anybody, it didn't matter that your relationship was built on stolen moments and secret meetings, you knew one day things would be different, you didn’t care about anything else.
The secret lasted well into knighthood and when Obi-Wan became a Master, having to train the young Skywalker boy it put a strain on your relationship. Suddenly it wasn’t just you and Obi-Wan sneaking around together, ignoring the whispers and the knowing glances from Qui-Gon as he left the quarters more and more frequently giving you and Obi-Wan plenty of time together. Suddenly in the space of one mission there was a Padawan and no time for stealing time together, now it was all about longing glances as the other was thrown more and more into their duties.
Eventually though it became easier to deal with, you and Obi-Wan were assigned missions together with Anakin coming along but as the years went on you made it work. You were sure the Padawan knew there was something going on between you and Obi-Wan, the cheeky grins and badly concealed winks he sent Obi-Wan’s way as he came up with excuses to leave the room for a while gave as much away,
You weren’t complaining, you loved any time you got to spend with Obi-Wan, you wished for more days that were spent laying side by side whether it be in a bed or a field littered with flowers but you knew that this was all he could offer you and all you could offer him right now.
So it went on like that, years passing by in secret as you loved each other quietly. You wanted it to be enough but there was a small part of you that was more and more persistent as the years passed, hopeful for something more.
You knew you’d leave the Order for the man, all he had to do was ask. You wanted him to ask more than anything, wanted him to steal you away in the middle of the night and put as much distance as possible between you and the rules of the Jedi Order. You wanted to build a life with him, one that didn’t need to be clouded by secrets and lies, one where you could kiss him whenever you wanted without always looking over your shoulder.
You wanted him to ask you.
He never did though and when the war started you pushed all those thoughts away. It wasn’t the time to leave, that’s what you told yourself anyway as you threw yourself into the war efforts, aching as you and Obi-Wan were separated yet again, only reunited when the Council ordered it.
There were a few times you got to spend longer together, days that were spent on Coruscant, still surrounded by the war but easier to ignore as you made your way to Obi-Wan’s quarters after a long day of consulting with the Council.
“I’d say that was a rather successful meeting, wouldn’t you? If what we have planned works we’ll have Akippee in no time.” Obi-Wan grinned at you as he moved around the quarters, seemingly unable to try and leave the war outside of these walls, to savour the little bit of time you were able to have together.
You just hummed at him and let your fingers trail along the back of the sofa as you looked around the room, the room that had once brought you peace, had felt more like home than any place had before, the soft orange hues lighting the room but now it felt different, it felt empty.
Obi-Wan continued to talk, hardly noticing the fact it was a one sided conversation as your mind went into overdrive. You weren’t sure how he couldn’t see something was wrong, how could he glance over at you and smile, how could he chuckle and speak and not notice you were miles away questioning everything?
Eventually Obi-Wan led you into the bedroom, stating that you must both be exhausted from such a long day and it wasn’t long until the lights went out. Obi-Wan fell asleep easily, not pulling you close to his chest like he would have years back and you ignored the way another bit of your heart withered at the loss.
The sound of Obi-Wan breathing evenly and shuffling every so often used to comfort you, it used to lull you into a peaceful sleep and leave you well rested. Now it set your nerves on edge, it made you feel like you were alone even though you could reach out and touch him, though the space between you felt infinitely bigger than it was.
As he slept you stayed awake, sat up staring into the darkness of the room, letting your thoughts run wild, letting yourself wonder what was happening, letting yourself wonder if it was time to face the reality of what had become of you and him.
You loved Obi-Wan, the man was all you had ever known and you didn’t want to know anything else. You loved him more dearly than anything in the whole galaxy and yet here you were with him, feeling lonelier than you had ever felt in your life.
All you wanted was a life with Obi-Wan, you wanted a proper, real life with Obi-Wan. One far away from the rules and regulations of the Jedi, one where attachments weren’t something to be feared, one where you could kiss him freely and without judgement, you wanted to give him every part of your life, you wanted to be his wife, you wanted to give him a family.
You wanted to give him everything.
You had tried to deny it for so long, tried to convince yourself you didn’t actually need that. You didn’t need to be Obi-Wan’s bride, you didn’t need to start a family with him and live your life openly to prove you loved him.
But it was never about proving anything, it was just something you wanted so badly and Obi-Wan had never given any indication he wanted anything more than you had. He seemed so content with what you had, never going forward, just staying where you were.
There were too many problems with your relationship, sure the war could be blame for leaving you without seeing each other for months on end but you truly believed if the war hadn’t happened this would still have been the outcome, maybe it would have bought you a few more months maybe even years but it was always going to end up here.
There were too many problems and Obi-Wan didn’t see them, either he refused to see them or he was really so blinded to them. When you finally reunited it was like there was no time apart for him, like everything was still the same. Your heart was breaking and he was fine where you were.
It was falling apart, you could see it breaking down before your eyes and yet Obi-Wan couldn’t. You wanted to scream at him, beg and plead for him to do something, to show it meant something to him, to show you meant something to him. You wanted him to take a risk, to leave the Order with you, to show that he would choose you. But he never did.
That night you slept fitfully, feeling even more drained than you had been the night before, only able to glare at Obi-Wan in the morning with a storm of emotions in your eyes as he went about getting ready for the day whilst keeping up a steady stream of conversation. He looked at you with a smile on his face and you wanted to scream some more, wanted to shake him and beg him to look at you, to see that you were dying, to see that he was losing you.
All you wanted was for him to see you, to see the mess that was your relationship and fight to save it, to do something to show he loved you. You wanted to believe your relationship could survive but your heartbeat felt like it was fading with every day that passed, it felt like you were going to die before Obi-Wan realised something was wrong.
“I can’t do this anymore.” You interrupted him, looking as shocked as he did at the outburst, not fully registering the words leaving your mouth or the decision to save yourself before your heart really did stop.
“Is everything ok?” Obi-Wan asked, his eyebrows knitting together as he put down his caf and turned to you, seemingly giving you all his attention but still not seeing you, not seeing how worn down you were.
“No.” You finally forced yourself to say after a few moments of silence passed where you could only stare at him, debating if you wanted to do this. “Obi-Wan, this isn’t working, we’re not working.”
“I don’t understand.” Obi-Wan told you softly, his hand coming up to scratch at his beard as he tried to figure out what was happening and why you were suddenly so unhappy with your relationship.
“I know you don’t.” You told him, voice shaky as you fought back tears. “I know you don’t, Obi-Wan and that’s the problem. You don’t understand despite all the signals I’ve given, you don’t understand even though it’s so clear to see.”
“What’s clear to see?” He asked you and the genuine confusion coming from him hurt your heart even more.
“Would you leave the Order for me?” You asked, never wanting to ask the question, not when you knew what the answer would be but it was the only thing you could think to ask to get him to understand something about how far your relationship had fallen.
Obi-Wan was silent for a moment too long, a moment that he actually seemed to recognise lasted for too long if the regretful look on his face meant anything. You let out a chuckle that sounded more like a sob and nodded, you’d already known the answer, if he was going to say yes he would have already left.
“I never wanted to lose you but you, you won’t do something, you won’t risk something to fight for us. You won’t even choose me, Obi-Wan. I can’t do this anymore, I’m tired, I’m so tired of being lonely.” You cried, a few tears slipping down your cheeks as you slid your robe on.
“Where are you going?” He asked quietly and you nearly sobbed, even now, even when you were walking out of the door he wouldn’t fight for you.
“To talk to Master Yoda, I can’t stay Obi-Wan, I can’t.” You told him and opened the door, waiting a moment for him to say something, to do something but he didn’t. He stayed silent and let you walk out of his quarters.
You barely held yourself together, hearing the door shut behind you and forced your feet to move until you got to an empty room. Only then did you let yourself fall apart, sobs wracking your body as you finally let everything out, everything you had been ignoring for years.
All you had wanted was for him to give you something, you had only ever wanted him to choose you the way you would always chose him but instead he hadn’t even fought to stop you from leaving, letting you go like you hadn’t given him your best years, hadn’t given him everything you had only to be left alone feeling like you heart wouldn’t start anymore.

Anakin and the Force Lore
There´s a strong belief in fandom which takes for granted that Anakin was some violence inclined jock who only cared for lightsaber training without caring or getting deep into the lore of Jedi beliefs but I belive this take is wrong because canon doesn´t support this.
EP I Anakin asks Qui-Gon what a midiclorian is, how the force works, he asks Yoda what it means to be afraid and it´s interested in knowing what a chosen one is supposed to be.
In the Obi-Wan and Anakin comics he explains to Obi-Wan he sees the Jedi and the Sith as two parts or clans of the force because of their mutual origin and that they have the same problem of comunication as the people the were trying to help get along, "the open and the close" who had been fighting the same war for so many centuries that they didn´t remember why they were fighting in the first place but there was a lot of hurt for them to stop.
This may sound naive but makes sense for the jedi the sith are dead people walking with no hope of getting back to life but what the story shows us in the end is that there´s a possibility even for sith to get back if they chose to do so. The Sith are shown in some cases like Maul or Vader and even Sidious as the result of generational trauma and grooming that do evil but even them can come back.
We see Anakin talking with Padme about Jedi philosophy on EP II and actually give his own take about compassion being unconditional love which is his way of mixing his Mother guidance with Jedi beliefs.
He teaches Ahsoka the meaning of Yoda sayings and how to complement their Jedi formation with the natural worry for their men and fellow Jedi in a war. Searching to help the most people they could.
When he married Padme he knew he had to leave the Jedi Order after the war was done because they didn´t allow marriage and he wasn´t going to ask them to change this rule for his marriage and he truly wanted a life with Padme, be her husband and built a family with her.
In ROTS he wasn´t interested in the master and council post, he told Palpatine the Jedi were tired of his reforms but Palpatine imposed it on him and the Council.
What he didn´t like was the way the Council rejected him once again, showing that no matter what he did in the war for the Order or the Republic, they didn´t trust him. He tells Padmé "The Jedi Council doesn´t trust me" which is a call back to the time he was 9 and was rejected, not "The Jedi Council didnt make me a Master" his only interest in becoming a Master was getting access to the Jedi library to see if there was something there to help save Padmé.
Imo fandom listens too much to Obi-Wan´s expressions about Anakin only "thinking with his lightsaber" Obi-Wan loves Anakin but he also teased him a lot and sometimes he was also a jerk to him, Anakin was a person who honestly got into the lore of Jedi knownledge to learn their ways and understand their pov´s and even as Vader he didn´t believe the Jedi Order beliefs were wrong, he believes they betrayed their own beliefs but this doesn´t mean he doesn´t accept at least to himself, that he betrayed them.
As Vader he went so deep into the lore of the Sith he could travel in time and learned to use elemental forces as well as the link between life and death. He learned the relationship between master and apprentice and actually told Palpatine he didn´t see the need to keep the rule of Bane if that meant he had to kill him. He also developed a closer relationship with the force because he needed it to live and breathe.
No matter the side of the pendulum, Anakin simply wasn´t some brute who cared about knowing how to fight and nothing more, that´s a bad read on his character, he was very intellectually involved in matters that excited him or he felt he had a responsibility to learn.

Looking back at these three moments is so interesting because we all know that Obi-Wan's "hubris" storyline got a little ret-conned in the making of The Phantom Menace, that a lot of it went to Qui-Gon instead and Obi-Wan became a very different character with a very different place in the story and relationship to Anakin as a result. Especially after the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he has gone from someone who takes responsibility here for at least SOME of Anakin's fall by acknowledging the arrogance he had in choosing to train Anakin, in believing himself better than Yoda, and instead turns into someone who is explicitly said to have exactly no fault in the entire situation. Obi-Wan did his best, it just wasn't enough and Anakin made his own bad choices, regardless of how well Obi-Wan did or didn't train him, regardless of how well someone else may or may not have done as Anakin's Master. Obi-Wan's choice to teach Anakin DID NOT cause him to fall, and the prequel trilogy films actually showcase a fairly good relationship between them and Obi-Wan's ability to, occasionally, break through Anakin's bad habits and enforce rationality over emotions.
But in contrast, we see that Anakin actually makes the exact mistake that got attributed to Obi-Wan in Return of the Jedi. With the caveat being that he does apparently have Yoda's blessing according to Ahsoka, but his statement here blatantly and arrogantly claims that he can train Ahsoka BETTER than Obi-Wan. It's a joke, in some respects, but this is also early enough in Anakin's Knighthood that his relationship with Obi-Wan is closer to what we see in Attack of the Clones (more contentious) than Revenge of the Sith (more equal and friendly). So the idea that this is Anakin sort-of taking an unnecessary and uncalled for potshot at Obi-Wan to impress his new Padawan doesn't strike me as out of character. The Force might believe they make a good pair, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Anakin is READY for the responsibility, it doesn't necessarily mean Anakin's actually going to ultimately make a good teacher for Ahsoka.
And this line is, from a Doylist perspective, meant to be ironic. It's a lampshade for the fact that the writers knew that the audience would question why Anakin was being given a padawan when he so clearly does not have one in Revenge of the Sith. This is letting the audience know that the writers are aware that Ahsoka ISN'T GOING TO MAKE IT AS ANAKIN'S PADAWAN. Even if they didn't know for sure what they were going to do in order to remove her from the story, there were three options available: she dies, leaves the Order, or just ends up with a different Master. Which means that we as the audience know that this statement will ultimately be proven FALSE. Anakin will be proven arrogant and full of hubris in this moment. And we know this from the moment this line is spoken.
Canonically, Ahsoka does not make it as Anakin's padawan. She just doesn't. She leaves the Order and never reaches Knighthood. That's the underlying irony of the entire scene.
And we see in multiple ways how Anakin's arrogance ultimately leads Ahsoka down the WRONG PATH.
Most damningly, are Ahsoka's choices during the Wrong Jedi arc, which predominantly seem to come down to training and opinions she received from Anakin. The first choice that makes her look especially guilty is when she takes the very suspicious key card because she thinks Anakin left it there, thinking that this absurd plan to break her out like this makes any sense at all and just goes along with it. I've seen the theory that this is Ahsoka reacting the way she would in a hostile enemy situation, which is probably true, but my issue with this is that Ahsoka is not mentally inhibited in any way. She knows she's not in enemy territory, she's perfectly aware she's on Coruscant. And ever since about season four onward, Ahsoka is actually presented as very level-headed and unlikely to just panic out of nowhere and suddenly fall back on instincts that make no sense for her current situation. So if we ARE supposed to believe Ahsoka is relying on training for how to handle being captured by an enemy, it seems OOC to me that she would do so.
More likely to me is that this is Anakin's training coming in. One of the very first lessons we ever see Anakin teach Ahsoka is in the Malevolence arc, when he teaches her how to lie to the Council and then do what she wants anyway and come up with a good enough excuse for it. Here, we see Ahsoka up against authorities, up against a system, that's asking Ahsoka to be PATIENT, to wait a little while until someone can find a way to prove her innocence, to trust that someone will believe her and help her. And instead, the moment she gets a hint that she can just... break the rules and run, she takes it. And she takes it explicitly because she thinks ANAKIN'S ASKING HER TO. In a situation where we already know she's aware that running makes you look more guilty, she does it anyway because it makes sense to her that Anakin would ask her to.
And then she continues to run after she escapes the cell because she claims she doesn't think anyone else would believe her OTHER THAN ANAKIN. She's been in that cell maybe a few hours at this point and the Council hasn't been approached by Tarkin yet to demand they expel her, so Ahsoka has exactly no reason to believe the Council WON'T listen to her, believe her, respect her. Which speaks of an inherent mistrust of the Jedi Order and the Council itself that Ahsoka may not have even been aware that she HAD up until now.
And where could she have picked that one up subconsciously? Certainly not any of the other Jedi she routinely spends time with: both Obi-Wan and Plo Koon are on the Council themselves, as is Yoda who she is seen going to for advice. Aayla and Luminara both seem pretty friendly with the Council even if they aren't on it. There's nothing the Council has done that would cause Ahsoka not to trust them. But that first lesson we see Anakin teach Ahsoka sows a seed for possible disrespect and lack of trust in the Council and their judgments. So if she doesn't trust them to believe her and thinks she has to prove her own innocence because the Council WON'T, she learned that behavior from Anakin. And this ultimately leads to her leaving the Order entirely. Had Ahsoka just stayed in her cell, recognized how suspicious that key card was, or just not run when she found the first attacked clone, she may have been able to put up a better defense for herself, Barriss may have been found out earlier. The Jedi may have been able to protect her easier if she'd acted smarter. Instead, Anakin's training and ideas fail her and she has to leave the Jedi.
Ahsoka doesn't make it as a Jedi, and it happens because she listened to Anakin.
Ahsoka doesn't make it as Anakin's Padawan. His training ultimately leads to her losing trust in herself and damages her relationship to the Council and the Order itself, so much so that she never manages to make it BACK to the Jedi before Anakin destroys them and makes it so she never can. Anakin's choices ultimately mean she can never return, and she has yet to reclaim that identity as a Jedi, though the upcoming show may ultimately have that change.
Anakin fails her as a Master. I believe that Yoda picked something up from the Force that told him Anakin and Ahsoka had the POTENTIAL to be a really good pair, this ultimately entirely relies on their own choices. And Anakin consistently makes bad ones. Anakin and Ahsoka are both stubborn, reckless, arrogant when they meet each other. Anakin forcing himself to teach Ahsoka lessons on patience and discipline and responsibility could have ultimately helped Anakin learn those same lessons and apply them more to himself; we see a similar concept happen with Kanan and Ezra, that teaching Ezra these lessons allows Kanan to actually fully understand them. Anakin and Ahsoka could have learned these things TOGETHER and come to help each other find balance specifically because of how similar they are to each other. But this was all POTENTIAL, it was all a MAYBE, and Anakin never actually ends up applying those lessons to himself, not enough at least. And Ahsoka picks up just as many of his worst habits as she does the few Jedi teachings he does manage to get across to her adequately, which could just as easily have been due to her foundation of Jedi training from growing up in the Temple or taught to her via all the other Jedi we see her learning lessons from (Jocasta Nu, Tera Sinube, Obi-Wan, Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Yoda, Plo Koon).
In comparison, we are told in Return of the Jedi that Obi-Wan believes his hubris led to Anakin's fall. He says he believed he could train Anakin better than Yoda, and was wrong. That his training wasn't enough, that his training failed Anakin, because he was arrogant enough to overestimate his own power and abilities. But in the prequel trilogy, we see that this wasn't the case, at all.
Obi-Wan takes on Anakin's training against Yoda's advice, sure, but Yoda doesn't think he can train Anakin better, he doesn't try to convince Obi-Wan to let himself or anyone else train Anakin. And there's no real indication that what ultimately causes Anakin to fall was a failure in Obi-Wan's training. And, in fact, the reason Anakin didn't fall EARLIER was probably very much down to the training he got from Obi-Wan and the relationship they developed. Obi-Wan blames himself because he WAS Anakin's teacher and he loved Anakin and honestly has no idea about the visions of Padme's death so he can't quite put those pieces together and figure out why Anakin's done what he's done. So the easiest way to manage those feelings for a while, that confusion, is to just blame himself. But that doesn't make it TRUE.
Anakin and Ahsoka make their own choices, obviously. But while Anakin's choices cannot be attributed to bad training on Obi-Wan's part, Ahsoka's can be directly traced back to the training she'd have gotten from Anakin. The bad habits, the assumptions, the underlying mistrust aimed at the Jedi and the Council. All of it came from Anakin, and all of it leads to her own downfall and choice to walk away from the Order.
Even by Rebels, Ahsoka chooses to die rather than leave Anakin because she can't let go of her guilt and attachment to him. She'd have died because Anakin never really taught her how to let go of those things, because ANAKIN never really let go of those things himself and presented a bad example for her.
Anakin thought he could train Ahsoka even better than Obi-Wan Kenobi.
And he was wrong.

The temple was illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight as twelve cloaked figures stepped out of the shadows to investigate the small bundle that lay at their entrance. They removed a few strips of fabric, and there you were, fast asleep in a bed of warmth and safety. The council members all paused for a moment, captivated by your angelic face and cherub lips. After a brief discussion, they quickly agreed to take you in and provide you with a loving home. A few of the members provided emotional support, and one even took care of the daily parenting duties. Together, they created a safe and loving environment where you could grow, learn, and thrive.
It was obvious that you had special talents from a very young age. When you were only two years old, you were already able to lift heavy objects. By the time you turned five, your skills in dual wielding weapons outperformed those of other children your own age. Now, at eight years of age, you were being mentored by none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi. You quickly raced up the ranks as one of the brightest Padawans in the Jedi Order, and everyone around seemed to recognize your potential for greatness.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was more than just a Jedi master to you. He played a vital role in your life as a mentor and friend. He did not preach lessons, but lived them out. Always ready to offer guidance and support whenever you needed it, he faced the responsibility of what being a Jedi really meant. Despite his young age of 25, he proved to be an exceptional master and an even better friend.
As with any relationship, your bond with Obi-Wan was not without its challenges.Obi-Wan could feel the tension between you two, especially when you would spend your evenings alone in your room with no communication. He was concerned and tried to initiate conversations but saw how they only pushed you deeper into your shell. With a heavy heart, Obi-Wan decided to respect your boundaries and give you space, hoping that one day he'd get the glimpse of the person he knew was inside you.
At first, Obi-Wan thought your quiet demeanor and unwillingness to share made you seem shy and unsure of yourself. But once you began to open up, he watched your skills in the Force sharpen with each practice session. Every mission felt like a success; you knew when to take charge, but also when to listen and follow his leadership. Together, you achieved everything the Jedi council asked of you, earning praise for the two of you.
Normally, you would have been partnered with Qui Gon, Obi Wan's mentor and dad-like figure. Until his untimely death. Hearing stories of how Obi Wan had to watch helplessly as Qui Gon was taken away from him, then later slice Darth Maul in half, you wished you could have been there for him. But instead, you were stuck at the temple for weeks due to an infection picked up on a previous excursion.
Yesterday, the doctors released you from the med-bay and urged you to move around and get some fresh air. You remembered hearing about a garden tucked away on the grounds, so you decided to explore it. Unlike the meditation gardens, with its single tree and sparse flowers, this one was full of life. As you stepped through the entrance, a path snaked through the green foliage. The sun shone down from an open roof above and sparkled off a babbling brook that emptied into a small pond in the center of the clearing. Birds flitted through the branches of a tall oak tree providing shade, and butterflies danced around bright patches of wildflowers. This secret paradise became your safe place - a haven where you could find solace and connection with nature.
You stumbled out from the path onto a patch of dewy grass beneath an ancient tree, its branches forming a canopy above you. Rays of golden light filtered through and illuminated your skin with shifting shadows. From beyond the tall grass, trickling water could be heard, dipping into a nearby stream. This place was so different from the meditation rooms that couldn’t replicate this level of serenity or peace. Here you felt safe, nestled within the embrace of nature. You let out a content sigh and basked in the sun’s warmth until eventually sleep overcame you.
Over the next couple of days, snippets of conversations between Qui Gon and the council trickled down to you. They had located a child on Tatooine with a connection to the Force, and Qui Gon wanted him as his Padawan, but he was too late. So instead, according to Qui Gon's dying wish, Obi-Wan would be training the boy alongside you. You wished you could protest—you weren't ready to share your teacher's attention like this—but it seemed like you were stuck with it.You still couldn't wrap your head around why everyone was making such a fuss about this boy you hadn't even met yet…but soon enough, you'd find out.
Obi-Wan's ship slowly descended from the sky like a graceful dove, its thrusters burning to draw nearer to the ground. You felt your heart flutter in anticipation, and without thinking your feet moved forward, propelling you towards the docking bay. You had been counting down the days until Obi-Wan's return, and it seemed that today was finally the day.
Your small form flew through the air as you leapt into Obi-Wan's arms, feeling his warmth radiating around you even through his Jedi tunic. He wrapped his strong arms around you in a gentle embrace, before pushing you back slightly to look at you and give a little huff of amusement.
"Hello there," he greeted you with a warm smile. You grinned back, unable to hide your excitement at seeing him again. "Hello, master, I've been looking forward to your arrival," you replied happily.
"I sure hope so. It would be tragic if my own padawan didn't miss me." His blue eyes sparkled in amusement as he reached for your shoulder and turned both of you towards the exit. “Come, young one, we have much to discuss."
You had heard plenty of stories about the mysterious boy, but you were never given the chance to meet him. Obi-Wan shared a brief description — a nine-year-old Tatooine slave with incredible strength and an ability to fix anything — but he was nowhere in sight. You couldn't help but wonder why this kid was being kept hidden from you. A week later, Obi-Wan finally revealed the boy’s identity: Anakin Skywalker.
You knelt in the center of the garden, a basket of freshly picked daisies and lavender resting beside you. With each flower you plucked, you worked quickly to weave them into an intricate crown. As your fingers moved deftly through the petals and stems, your heart raced with excitement about the forbiddenness of it all. You were completely unaware that Anakin had crept up behind the tree, watching as your delicate fingers created something beautiful out of these forbidden flowers.
Anakin had seen you from a distance, noticing the way you moved through the temple with an air of quiet determination and focus. He was drawn to you as he could sense your confusion and curiosity through the force – something about you captivating him and yet intimidating him at the same time. With a sudden burst of courage, Anakin walked around the tree and stood in front of where you were seated, his heart pounding against his chest as he prepared to introduce himself. He noticed how alone you often seemed, without any signs of friends or companionship. He was determined that today would be different.
A sandy-haired boy with spiky hair and a Padawan braid hanging behind his ear stepped into your secret garden hideaway. You eyed him cautiously, your fingers pausing in their rustling of stems as you tried to discern why he was there. He smiled at you, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"You don't talk much, do you?" he asked, and you glanced down at the flower crown in your hands, its intertwined stems creating an intricate pattern. Your mouth opened slightly before you shook your head, choosing not to answer his question.
The boy sat beside you and watched silently as your fingers expertly braided together the petals and leaves of the freshly picked flowers. You could feel his gaze on your face when he finally spoke again.
"You know you're not allowed to use those, right?" His tone was gentle but held a hint of warning.
You hesitated for a moment, eyes narrowing in disbelief. "You won't tell... right?" you asked, the unspoken menace hovering between you. He shook his head and crossed his heart with two fingers to emphasize his assurance of secrecy. "Cross my heart and call me bantha fodder" he added, a sly smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. You couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at his humorous answer, though you weren't quite sure what it meant.
Your amusement was fleeting as you returned your gaze back to the task in front of you. Curiosity soon got the better of you though, prompting you to ask him one more question. "What's your name?"
A hint of pride lit up his face as he answered, "Anakin. Anakin Skywalker." As if prompted by the mention of his own name, he stuck out his hand towards yours in invitation to shake. You looked up abruptly and studied his face carefully, finally able to put a face to the infamous name that had been whispered throughout the temple. Even now, weeks later, he had managed to cause quite a stir among its ranks. Your preoccupation with your thoughts caused you to miss his gesture of greeting until he cleared his throat lightly and subtly wiggled his outstretched fingers.
"You were supposed to be Qui Gon's padawan."
Anakin shifted nervously in place, his gaze dropping to the floor as he muttered "I was..." before trailing off. His fingers twitched at his sides, and there seemed to be a heavy weight on his chest. Though Anakin had only known him for a short while, this person was the only one who had shown him kindness besides his mother. Now he was Obi-Wan Kenobi's padawan - a pleasant enough teacher, but one who seemed to regard Anakin more as an obligation than something special.
You placed your hand gently on Anakin’s shoulder, letting your presence and force signature fill him with a calming reassurance that allowed him to relax and feel lighter. After giving Anakin’s shoulder a gentle squeeze, you pulled back and picked up the crown lying between you both. You studied it for any flaws in the sunlight streaming through the window, while Anakin watched you in confusion, not knowing what he should be looking for.
"You're Obi-Wan's padawan now," you said softly. "I'm his padawan too."
Anakin nodded hesitantly, turning away from you to inspect the crown some more. "I don't think he likes me very much," he whispered unhappily.
You shook your head and sighed. "Obi-Wan is a good man. Kind and thoughtful. I’ve known him all my life. He’s like my -" You paused mid-sentence, noticing the slight edge of defensiveness in your voice. "He's probably just…overwhelmed with Qui Gon, that was his old master."
Anakin furrowed his brows in confusion. "I thought Jedi weren't supposed to have attachments?"
"They're not," you replied firmly, a faint smirk tugging at your lips. "But you will find Master Kenobi to be a special exception to that rule."
"How so?" Anakin asked, eyes widening with curiosity.
You didn't answer right away, finishing up fixing the odd lump on the crown before setting it aside. After a few moments, you met his gaze with an amused expression.
"You'll see," you said mysteriously.
He stared at you for a moment before pressing forward with another question: "How come you weren't with Obi-Wan when..." He realized that you hadn't been with them on Tatooine or Naboo.
Your expression softened slightly as you explained, "I was ill from a previous mission and had to stay on bed rest for a few weeks."
Anakin nodded slowly, unsure how else to respond other than asking with genuine concern, "Do you feel better now?"
You let out a soft laugh and smiled at him warmly. "Obviously."
Anakin playfully rolled his eyes at your response, feeling comforted by the familiarity of the situation. It reminded him of pleasant memories from his childhood on Tatooine when he would banter with his friends. It was a reminder of a simpler time and place he could call home.
His next words were more than just a casual inquiry; they were a heartfelt plea for companionship and connection of the most valuable kind. He was looking for something that could ground him in the present moment and provide comfort from the unfamiliarity of his new life: someone he could count on as an ally and confidant—a friend who could bring back memories of innocence and belonging from his past home.
You glanced up at him and softly smiled in understanding, raising the flower crown and gently placing it atop his head. For the first time in weeks, he felt content.
Training alongside Anakin was better than you thought it would be. He was far more skilled for being a newbie and proved worthy of being a part of the order. From an outside perspective, you could tell how apprehensive the higher-ups were; they seemed to walk on eggshells around him. Sure, he was better and better than expected, but their reactions left you feeling like a zoo animal as the council came in and observed you two. You couldn't even imagine what it must have felt like for him.
You both had just finished a light lifting exercise, with Anakin closing his eyes as he attempted to lift a nearby object using the force. His efforts impressed you, and your face lit up with amazement as he moved the boulder slightly off the ground before eventually opening one eye to watch your response. No one he has ever known has been so impressed by something as simple as a rock, yet he was still surprised by you. Your eyes met his as he set the stone down gently on the ground.
“Why did you stop?” You asked him.
He shrugged, “I got bored. Why don’t you try it? I bet you can’t get it any higher.”
When the two of you were together, his easy banter and sense of humor lightened the air. At times, he'd deliver a punchy zinger or two, aiming it right at you, but you knew it was all in good fun. Other occasions, his teasing crossed a line and your patience evaporated - yet still, you'd often bite back with playful sarcasm.
"Fine," you declared, a surge of confidence flowed through your veins as you lifted the large rock with relative ease. You held it there for a few seconds, demonstrating your strength before setting it back down. Turning your head to Anakin in satisfaction, you saw his eye roll and felt a mischievous smirk tugging on the corners of your mouth. Taking advantage of his distraction, you quickly grabbed a small pebble next to you and threw it at his arm.
Thwack
"Ow, what the-"
"Your arrogance is too high for someone that's only been here for a couple of weeks," you warned him.
He rubbed his arm, looking at you with a frown. "So?" he responded exasperatedly.
"So," you continued, "You need to practice more instead of challenging me with things I'm already competent at."
A sudden, searing pain ran through your arm, causing you to gasp. You glared at him and he grinned, knowing he had won this round of their game. He tried to contain his laughter as he sucked in his lips.
"Oh yeah?" you challenged, already reaching for another pebble to fling at him. The two of you sprinted around each other, dodging the tiny missiles in the air and laughing. Until suddenly Obi-Wan appeared before you both, hands tucked into his sleeves with an incredulous look on his face.
"What in the world are you two doing?" He asked, bewildered. You scrambled to find something to say while Anakin stood still, eyes glued to the floor. Obi-Wan sighed loudly before telling Anakin that the council needed him again and informing you that you would meet for dinner later and that you should clean up this mess. With a wave of your hand, you quickly put all the pebbles back where they belonged before following Anakin's path to the council room. As curiosity pushed you forward, you made your way underneath the floorboards and into a secret vent where Murmurings of voices could be heard from within.
The thick metal grates of the temple were illuminated with a bright force, making it possible to distinguish the figure of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker standing in the center of the chamber.
“Based on your performance during the trial period, we have concluded what is best for not only the Order but also the galaxy…” A deep rumble filled the room as Mace Windu spoke.
Yoda spoke up, “Impressive progress you've made.”
Mace Windu straightened up, his voice heavy with disappointment. “But we cannot accept you into our ranks—we believe it would be too dangerous to keep you here.”
Confusion coursed through your veins—what did that mean?
“Is he not the chosen one?” Obi-Wan interjected, “You saw him with your own eyes; his skills have far surpassed most padawans in this temple.”
Anakin was the Chosen One, the one that was supposed to bring balance to the force.
“Skills are not what makes a Jedi, Kenobi. It's the heart of the individual and the spirit that truly makes one. As impressive as he is, he's too dangerous.”
A long pause fell throughout the room, the air thick with tension. You waited with bated breath hoping they didn't truly intend on sending away Anakin.
“So what are your intentions?” Obi-Wan asked.
“He will be sent back to Tatooine and reunited with his mother. Anakin, on behalf of myself and the council I am sorry.” You watched the bottoms of Anakin's boots turn towards the exit, but something stopped him.
“What will happen if the Sith get to him? What will we do then, hmm?” Obi-Wan asked, refusing to let go of his newly appointed Padawan.
“How are we to bring balance back to the force if he has no knowledge of it?” The question hung in the air for a while.
“He has attachments Obi-Wan that is why we must let him go. We already made a mistake bringing him here.”
You could hear Obi-Wan's defeated sigh, “If he is brought back to Tatooine. The Sith may pluck him from our grasps and teach him the ways of the dark side.”
“From what I recall Kenobi,” Windu’s voice was slow and threatening,” You didn't even want the boy.”
Your eyes widened in surprise and you clamped your hand over your mouth to stop yourself from gasping loudly. You hoped the others didn’t hear it. “Continue this conversation at a later time. Another presence I feel,” Yoda said. You held your breath and scrambled back down the passageway, away from the council room. The cold stone walls scraped your skin as you moved, and you could feel your heart pounding so hard you were sure whoever was around would hear it. You quickly spotted an opening in the wall which led out into a hallway behind the council room, and you made a dash for it.
Finally, you reached the opening and cautiously peered out. The hallway was empty, but you knew that could change at any moment. You quickly crawled out and slid the grate back into place before standing up. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves.
You could practically feel the tremor of the steps reverberating through the corridor as Anakin and Obi-Wan approached. Panic began to rise in your chest as you tried to come up with a plan, but it was too late – they had already spotted you.
“Oh, it's you,” said Obi-Wan, surprise evident in his voice.
All you could do was nod in response, feeling relieved that he didn't mention the meeting. However, when you chanced a glance at Anakin, his gaze was stern and fixed upon you. You quickly averted your eyes, suddenly conscious of your state – your robes were caked with dust and dirt collected from the vents.
Obi-Wan heaved an exasperated sigh before saying “Y/N, your robes are absolutely filthy.” You fumbled for a response and then quickly swiped away the debris from your clothing.
“Sorry, Master,” you muttered apologetically.
He nodded in understanding before adding “Let's just get to dinner before someone grabs the last cushnip.”
You assumed that the council had changed their decision about Anakin since he had been around for a couple of weeks. Obi-Wan was none the wiser to your knowledge. However, you started to notice that Anakin was acting oddly around you, speaking in short clipped sentences and avoiding eye contact. His frustration with the Council's decision seemed to be transferred onto you, although you weren't sure why. You tried to talk to him about it, but while he was polite, he didn't let on what was bothering him.
Once again you and Anakin were dueling. Sparks flew from both of your lightsabers as they clashed against each other, and the force of each strike reverberated through your arms. Your feet skidded across the floor as you nimbly evaded his attacks while seeking an opening to attack yourself. Even though your skills matched each other's evenly, Anakin's strikes seemed almost frenzied as if he was trying to vent all of his frustrations into the fight itself. His jaw was clenched tight in anger, and there was a wild glint in his eye as he pressed forward relentlessly. Every fiber of your being screamed for you to retreat before it was too late, but still, something kept you rooted in place as if waiting for something—or someone—to intervene.
“Anakin! Control your anger! You don't want to kill her, you want to disarm her," Obi-Wan scolded.
He nodded at Obi-Wan and then turned his attention to you. His eyes intense under the light of the room and he stood tall and proud, ready for battle. You studied Anakin's movements intently, noting the way his fists tightened and his shoulders tensed up moments before he charged towards you. You braced yourself as he lunged forward with great force, lightsaber drawn and pointed directly at you. In one quick motion, you managed to block his attack and flick your own lightsaber in an attempt to use his momentum against him. But Anankin was too fast--he blocked your move and twisted his lightsaber to gain control of the situation, leaving you vulnerable and exposed.
Anakin's fighting style forced you out of your comfort zone--you were used to attacking with swift precision, but he was unrelenting and ferocious. Your blue and yellow lightsabers clashed in a dizzying display of speed and finesse as you battled it out tooth-and-nail. Sweat beaded on your forehead from the strain of keeping up with Anakin's relentless attacks.
You attempted to distract him with a series of twirls and spins, hoping to catch him off guard, but he was too focused. As you stepped back to face him once more, he suddenly lunged forward, catching you off guard. You stumbled backwards and fell awkwardly on your wrist, the sound of a slight snap echoing throughout the room. You gasped in pain and looked up at Anakin in a mixture of shock and agony.
“Anakin!” Obi-Wan yelled.
But Anakin wasn't worried about Obi-Wan, he was worried about you as he ran to you. You sat on the floor holding your limp wrist to your chest. You tried to hide your tears from Anakin, too embarrassed to show him you were crying. That's when you noticed blood dripping from your nose and onto your robes. You realized he had punched you in the face.
The soft sound of his footsteps filled the room as he hurried across it. Anakin immediately got on his knees, apologizing profusely: “Y/N, I'm so sorry. I- I don't know why I-”
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan called again, trying to get the boy's attention. Anakin finally looked at his master with shame and guilt in his eyes.
“Go to the meditation room," he ordered, while walking over to your crying frame.
“But-”
“Now,” he said louder. Anakin obeyed, hanging his head and walking out of the room.
You winced as a medical droid wrapped your wrist in a tight bandage and secured it with an extra-wide sling. They then shined a bright light into your eyes to check for a concussion before checking your nose, which was only bruised. All the while, Obi-Wan stood nearby, occasionally placing a comforting hand on your shoulder or squeezing your arm reassuringly.
When he left, you were left alone in the sterile med bay, struggling to make sense of Anakin’s outburst. Your thoughts raced as you sat on the edge of the med bay bed, listening to the faint humming of the droids. You weren't sure what had changed in Anakin, or why he had used violence against you. All you knew was that you had to stay strong and make it clear that such behavior wouldn't be tolerated.
As the door creaked open, Obi-Wan stepped into the room, his long brown robes sweeping gracefully along the ground and Anakin tailing closely behind. Obi-Wan's piercing gaze settled on Anakin who hung his head low in shame, not daring to make eye contact with you.
"Well..." Obi-Wan began, his brow crinkling with curiosity as he looked toward Anakin. You waited silently for Anakin to speak up, your eyes narrowing at him as you tried to ignore the pulsing pain coming from your sore wrist.
At last, Anakin lifted his head and your eyes locked. His cheeks were wet with tears and a lump formed in your throat when you realized it was more than just guilt that he was feeling - he had been crying for himself. Despite your inner urge to hold a grudge, you knew forgiveness was the best way forward.
“I'm really sorry Y/N," he said quietly while avoiding Obi-Wan's gaze. Your expression softened slightly as you replied, “Alright, I forgive you." A wave of relief dropped over Anakin's entire body and before you could react he had wrapped his arms around you in an embrace. You winced in pain as your tender wrist felt pressure, but Anakin let go quickly with a sheepish apology.
“Come on now," Obi-wan interjected in a firm tone, ushering both of you out of the room. With Anakin’s help, you hopped off of the bed and quickly made your escape - there would be more to discuss tomorrow.
You awoke the next day, feeling disoriented with a tight ache radiating from your wrist. You knew you had to find Anakin in the meditation chambers and threw on your robe, trying to ignore the itch of the cast encasing your arm.
The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon as you stepped out of your room. The chill breeze that swept in through the window made you shiver, but it did nothing to diminish the beauty of the oranges, pinks and yellows that painted the sky.
The hallway was still, with no signs of life other than your own presence. As you followed the path to the meditation chambers, an ever-growing sense of peace flooded through you. The gentle chirps of birds and rustling of leaves filled the air around you, and with every step taken you felt calmer.
The entrance to the meditation chambers loomed before you — two gigantic wooden doors carved with intricate designs that reached up to the sky. Taking a deep breath, you pushed open one of the doors and stepped inside. The room was huge, with tall ceilings supported by massive stone pillars that reached down to the floor below. Dust motes glittered in the sunlight streaming through high windows, illuminating a chamber full of cushioned chairs. In the middle of the room sat Anakin, his legs were crossed and his hands were placed on his knees. His eyes were closed as if he was in deep meditation.
You stood there for a moment, just watching him. Contemplating on whether or not you should speak. You cleared your throat, and he opened his eyes slowly, turning his head slightly to look at you. His expression was unreadable but gentle. Your mouth opened, about to say something before he beat you to it.
"I know you were there at that meeting," he said softly but firmly, watching your face carefully as realization seemed to dawn on you that he had noticed your presence.
"But why were you mad at me?" you asked hesitantly.
Anakin let out a deep sigh before responding. "I wasn't mad at you, I was just..." He trailed off for a moment as he thought about what he wanted to say next. "Frustrated," he finished finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
You frowned but stayed silent so he could continue.
"I took it out on you when I shouldn't have, and I'm sorry."
You nodded, feeling the tension in your shoulders ease off. Anakin had to be one of the most complex people you’ve ever met.
"It's okay," you said, a small smile gracing your lips. "But you shouldn't keep everything to yourself, Anakin. We're friends, remember?"
He nodded, a small smile of his own playing across his lips. "Yeah, I remember. And I'm grateful for that."
The two of you sat there in companionable silence for a few moments, the only sound being that of your breathing and the birds outside. It was a peaceful moment, one that you were glad to share with Anakin.
"So, what now?" you asked, breaking the silence.
Anakin shrugged. "Now, we continue on as we always have. But this time, I won't keep my frustrations bottled up."
You smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Good. And if you need someone to talk to, you know you can alway come to me."
Anakin nodded, his gaze softening. "I appreciate that," he said before glancing away.
You followed his gaze and saw that he was looking at the window, lost in thought. Curiosity getting the best of you, you leaned over slightly to see what had caught his attention. Outside, the sun had fully risen, and the birds were singing a lively tune. Together you sat in the chamber, enjoying the peaceful morning to yourselves.

I've been working on that infamous 1980's fic for a little while. Despite how flippant I've been about it, it actually DOES have a storyline beyond Anakin looking cute in short-shorts and cut-off shirts with white tube socks. Obi-Wan is swallowed up by grief and depression when he loses Qui-Gon suddenly in an accident. Unable to move on and to properly heal, and feeling guilty that he can't just Get Over It, he ends up developing a bad drinking habit along with other reckless coping mechanisms. After about two years of a very bad downward spiral, he divorces Satine, quits his job as a professor of Classics at the University of Coruscant, and moves into a small town in the middle of nowhere to escape a life he doesn't feel he deserves anymore.
There he meets Anakin who is his nineteen year old virgin neighbour who tries to (and successful does) seduce Obi-Wan. What starts out as casual, lust fueled relationship between the two, slowly develops into something more - something that maybe makes Obi-Wan want to start trying again.
So basically, lots of graphic, filthy smut scenes intercut with deeply emotional scenes and an attempt at character study, haha.
Obi-Wan placed his hands above Anakin’s and stared at their joint reflection. His wrinkles seemed more stark in that moment, branches of them collecting around the corners of his eyes and along his brow. His skin was dotted with freckles and tiny little scars collected through years of living - the most pronounced being a slice across his collarbone from an irate cat he’d tried to pet when he was twelve. Every time he saw his reflection he noted more greys, flecks of them sprouting from his temples and in the corners of his beard. But his eyes told the real story - of a life lived well before it wasn’t, before it fractured and crumbled and fell apart like jagged glass. When he stared in a mirror he used to see a man who loved and cherished those around him, and who was loved in return; a man who was engaged and present in the moment; a man who lived his life as completely and fully as he possibly could, a man who wanted to be there. Now all he saw was someone who would barely be called a man; someone who took rather than gave, who retreated rather than jumped head-first into the challenges before him. He saw someone who drank because it was easier than feeling, who isolated himself because opening up to others meant having to return a love he didn’t think he deserved, and who toyed with a young man because it was easier than making an honest, truthful connection. Slowly but steadily he’d been stripped of whatever it was that made him who he was by the monster that had no face, no name, no form, save for how it made him feel. Like perhaps things weren’t worth fighting for anymore. “Obi-Wan?” Obi-Wan blinked and locked eyes with Anakin’s through the mirror. His brows were furrowed, lines cut deep across his youthful features. For a moment they matched, both in sorrow and loss, before Anakin closed his eyes and kissed Obi-Wan’s temple. “Lost you for a second,” Anakin whispered. “Are you okay?” “Just thinking…” Obi-Wan said, his voice hoarse. “Sometimes I wonder what goes on in your head…” Guilt; misery; loneliness; a desperate longing for things to be different.

💔 with obi wan? that show has got me in such an angsty mood.
A/N: 😅 I feel you, honestly. I am a feral mess of tears at the minute after that third episode. ALSO?! Not me thinking it came out Friday like the other two??? I may have lost my mind at work, after seeing it had dropped today. I also may or may not have taken my lunch hour to watch it... oops... Here's the emoji prompt list if anyone else wants it, btw.
Tumblr media
💔 : A Breakup Headcanon (Obi-wan Kenobi)
His first real breakup would be the one he had between him and Satine.
The decision to return to the order, and for Satine to return to Mandalore, left its mark on him, even if they believed it the right thing to do at the time.
We’ve seen in the Clone Wars show that he still feels deeply about it, and how much their relationship meant to him.
In my mind, Qui-Gon fully knew about what was happening between his Padawan and the Duchess, even if he never said anything.
This man probably set the example Obi later follows when it comes to turning a blind eye to Ani and Padmé, because he believes it makes him happy and all he wants is for Ani to be happy.

I also feel like Qui-Gon was there to nurse Obi through the worst of the pain, watching as he threw himself into training in the hopes of taking the trials as soon as possible.
He doesn’t say anything explicit, but he knows what it is that troubles Obi.
He’d have to be blind to miss how agitated his apprentice is in the first few months of returning to the temple after a year on the run.
He also somehow seems to change the subject whenever they speak of it.
However, it’s only when a sparring match between them gets a little too heated that he forces him to stop… to open up just a little…
It’s clear there’s something different about their session that day - about the way Obi-wan moved. There was a hidden fury lacing his actions, making him stronger, more wild than usual. More than once Qui-Gon finds himself blinking in surprise as he cries out and strikes all too fast and hard for him to anticipate.

The look in his eyes is wild; it is pained.
“You know, young one, you can trust me with whatever it is that burdens you.”
He doesn’t say anything. Not at first, but his expression says it all.
Qui-Gon holds him as Obi suddenly fights back tears, letting him release the pain.
He holds him until Obi is ready to let go, and with a pat on the shoulder, they agree not to speak of it again.
That doesn’t mean his feelings aren’t still made clear, from time to time.
Like, how Qui-Gon notices that every time they get off a ship or transport, Obi’s hand always drifts backwards as if preparing to offer someone behind him a hand getting down…
It’s a habit, and one he seems to struggle to break, just as it’s hard to forget the woman who started him doing it in the first place.
He’ll realise there’s no one there and shake it off, pretending like it was nothing.

Time Waits for No One pt. 2
A Sequal to Time is a social construct.
Summary: What do you do when you time travel 50 years in the past with your Jedi son, accidentally adopt 3 more kids, and become Mand’alor? Din figured stopping a Sith uprising was a good answer. He just has to unite the Mandalorian factions, repair relationships with the Jedi, and stop a galactic civil war. Easy.
Masterlist

Din was trying to decide if it was acceptable to drink right now. It was barely midday, but he felt that it should be acceptable, given the circumstances. Those circumstances being, of course, that the dar’jetii had actually been teamed up with Death Watch and had assisted them with the assault on Sundari. Oh, and the chances of them having a spy in Din’s court was high. Great, really great. Din was impressed with Qui-Gon’s ability to keep a straight face because, under his helmet, Din was rocking his best ‘of fucking course’ face. Must be a Jetii talent.
“Any chance your past seeing padawan can sniff out the aruetii?” Din asked, forehead resting on one of his hands.
Qui-gon lifted one of his hands from his robe to stroke his beard. “If Padawan Vos held an item that the spy had on them when they were perhaps reporting on what they saw, then yes, he may be able to identify them.”
“That’s a big ‘if’,” Jango said. “And I’m sure the Mando’ade wouldn’t appreciate a Jet’ika touching their stuff.”
“And it would be an exhausting process for Padawan Vos,” Qui-gon added. “Physically and mentally. He is not just seeing the past, but feeling the emotions associated with the memories.”
“Let’s just have Padawan Vos focus on the Sith that was in Sundari,” Din decided. “Let’s not overwork the kid for something that might not work. Chances are the aruetii would catch wind and run before we could find them. It's best to keep the element of surprise and not let them know we know.”
“Best we learn what we can about the Sith that attacked you. Hopefully, that will lead us to their conspirators, and we can find the spy from there,” Qui-gon concluded. Din nodded his agreement.
“Who knows about this?” Din asked Jango.
“Aside from us? Myles and the slicer who intercepted the aruetii’s message.”
“Make sure the slicer knows to keep quiet,” Din instructed. “Credits, vacation, whatever you need to make sure. We will keep this between us for now. And keep specifics off comms. Assume everything is compromised.”
“Shall we tell Obi-wan and your other children?” Qui-gon asked as Jango jumped to work on his datapad, likely messaging Myles in vague terms or some code they had.
Din sighed. “No. They’ll worry and want to help. Keep them out of it until we know more.”
“May I tell Master Tholme?” Qui-gon asked. “I would appreciate the help of another Jedi, as I assume you would like to keep this from the Council for now.”
“You assume right.” Din thought about it. On one hand, Din didn’t know the other Jetii Master nearly enough to trust him. On the other, he was apparently a Jetii spy. “Tell him about Death Watch, not the traitor. I don’t want that getting out if I can help it. We’re in a delicate place as it is.”
Qui-gon bowed and left the room. Din leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh. It was quiet in his office for a peaceful moment. Din allowed himself to close his eyes and think. Barely a year ago, Din’s worries centered around keeping his small green magic child safe. Now, he was worried about Sith, the fate of the Mandalorian people, three other children, and a small green magical child. What would the Armorer say at a time like this?
The ka’ra blesses its strongest verde with the most difficult battles. Banthashit. If anything, the ka’ra was just throwing problems at him, like a child throwing rocks at zoo animals to see how they react. Din was sure one of the Jetii would tell him about how this was all in the Force’s plan and to trust things would turn out how they were meant to. Din said all this was the universe seeing how much stress and anxiety it could give one person before he inevitably snaps and does something stupid like fist-fight a Sith.
“You’re really keeping this a secret from your ade? Even Grogu?” Jango’s question broke Din out of his thoughts. Jango had put his datapad away and was rummaging through the cabinet on which he’d set his helmet. Jango emerged with a bottle of ne’tra gal Din had been gifted after his ascension to Mand’alor. Din had been told it was from one of the best brewers in the system. The quality of the stuff was wasted on Din. He’d grown up on homebrewed kri'gee, and had grown so used to its bitter taste and awful hangovers that the thought of sweet ale was slightly baffling. Suffice to say, Din didn’t mind that Jango seemed intent on drinking it. “I feel like you are too blunt to keep secrets.”
In response to Jango’s question, Din shrugged. “I don’t like lying and secrets. Complicates things. But I will to protect them.”
Jango looked to be in thought as he poured himself a drink. Din waved off his offer for a glass, and Jango set the bottle on the edge of Din’s desk before sitting in the plush chair. In moments like this, Din forgot how young Jango was. The man looked aged beyond his years as he sipped his ne’tra gal, frowning at the ceiling. His scars wrinkled, and Din noticed the bags that had deepened under Jango’s eyes. They’ve never truly disappeared in the months that Din has known him, but that had lightened. But now, they were as dark as the day Jango had demanded to speak to Din before Din had to stun him, triggering a seizure.
“Secrets eat you up on the inside,” Jango said flatly, his gaze not moving from the ceiling. Din let out a noncommittal hum, staying relaxed in his chair while keeping a sharp eye on Jango. The man kept silent and continued to look upwards, lifting his glass for a drink. Din thought about prying, but Jango could sometimes be sensitive, reacting poorly to any perceived signs of aggression. If Din pushed too hard or in the wrong way, Jango was liable to lash out. Din was confident he could handle it, of course, but it would set back any chance of learning about whatever had Jango in this funk.
“Sometimes it helps to share with someone you trust,” Din said. “Share the burden.” Din kept his tone calm and non-accusing. He hoped that if Jango didn’t share his secret with him, Jango would at least talk to Silas. Jango clenched his jaw and inhaled deeply before relaxing. He down the rest of his drink in one shot and set the glass down on Din’s desk before standing up.
“Yeah, it might,” Jango replied. “I’ll let you know if there are any updates.”
Din nodded, and Jango put his helmet on and swiftly left the room. Din hoped that wouldn’t come back to bite him in the shebs. Know his luck recently, it would.
Din’s comm rang with a message from Satine. It was a video of Obi-wan and Quinlan levitating Grogu, who looked to be having the time of his life. It came with the message of ‘ Apparently this is a common Jetii practice.’
Din shook his head, heart filling with fondness. He saved the video of his ade being cute to his secret folder (it was good for early morning existential crises) and stood up. He looked at the cup Jango left for a second before remembering that there were servants who cleaned his office, and they would clean it for him. It was another thing he often forgot- once, he walked in on some servants tidying his bed chambers and almost shot one on instinct. After that day, the staff had a little sign they would hang on his bed and office doors. Of course, Jango thought it was hilarious- a little reserve ‘do not disturb’ sign. Din was just happy no one had complained or wanted to quit.
Hungry? Din sent to Satine as he left his office.
Grogu just tried to eat a frog so I’ll say yes. Meet you at the dining halls?
         Be there in 5
Din burned at the thought of his ade being publicly exposed, knowing it was possible that aruetii was in their midst. He wanted to bundle them up and take them somewhere safe- maybe make their own little hidden coven where spies and terrorists and Sith didn’t matter. Din knew they would hate it- he had hated it himself. Din had wanted to see the galaxy; it was the main reason he started training to be his tribe’s beroya. It was a way to provide for his tribe while still being able to get out of those sewers. Sure, they were home, but out there in the Razor Crest among the stars? That was where Din could have peace. No expectations, no worries. Just himself, and eventually Grogu, going with the flow of the galaxy. Maybe one day, once all this Sithly nonsense was over, Din could get a ship (when had the Razor Crest gone into production?) and show his ade a galaxy at relative peace. Maybe go to all the planets a Mandalorian bounty hunter never got to go to: Naboo, Alderaan, and the like. They could meet up with Obi-wan after his different missions. And, if Grogu was able, see the Jetii temple.
But those were thoughts for another day. Today, Din just needed to be there with his family and prepare himself for the boatload of banthshit heading his way.

Just a Little Discomfit
So, I was considering my own discomfit of being forced to sleep on my back after my knee operation - and how much I dislike having to do that and...naturally an obikin story came to mind. So this thing happened. 'scuse any typos, its pretty well hot off the Word file.
It's only slightly adult, just mentions of...organs... (:
“Do you know what I absolutely hate?”
The hand smoothing over his swollen stomach paused.  “Ah…pickled saaba beans?”
“No, I just seriously dislike those.”  Obi-Wan turned his head as the hand recommenced its gentle circling.  “What I truly seriously hate is being forced to sleep on my back!”
He saw the amusement swell in the watchful golden eyes.  “Hmm.  Well..you can’t sleep on your side?”
“No I cannot.  This,” he said, poking his belly with a finger, “gets in the way and I end up with a sore side.  I have always slept on my stomach and now I cannot and it is extremely vexing.”
The brief snort of laughter didn’t improve his mood.  “Fine, laugh.  It’s all your fault anyway.”
“My fault?”  Anakin settled himself closer, the big warm hand expanding its range, fingers circling over Obi-Wan’s nipples.  “I’m not the one who turned up on Mustafar in full Heat waving his lightsaber and threating to kill me.  Which would have disturbed me more if you weren’t also trying to get inside my pants.”
It was an undeniable fact which Obi-Wan avoided by way of denial.  “Wouldn’t have happened if that disgusting Sith Lord hadn’t got into your brain first!”
“Oh here we go again.”  Where once Anakin might have let his anger take control, being so close to his very pregnant mate who naturally released all sorts of pheromones meant to ensure his Alpha mate was in a compliant, protective state - anger against said mate was pretty well impossible.  “Might I remind you that Sideous sent me to Mustafar to kill the Seperatists while the clones were sent to hit the Temple.  Once you ensnared me with your cunning Omega wiles, I was able to call them off and slaughter said Sith Lord when he turned up on Mustafar.”  He smiled and bent to kiss his mate’s nose.  “Ultimately, it was all your fault.  I mean, what’s an Alpha to do given a choice between Omega Obi-Wan Kenobi or a truly ugly Palpatine?”
Obi-Wan nodded unwillingly.  “It’s a good point.  Of course, he wasn’t an Omega and he did not possess my…attributes.”
“Attributes!”  Anakin coughed out a laugh.  “Thank the Force he didn’t.  But even so, you would still have been tempted by my attributes.  My very prominent attribute.”
“Another name for your cock?”  Obi-Wan ignored the repeated laughter and frowned.  “Do you know, I do not believe that, prior to our relationship, I ever actually spoke that word.”
“Seriously?”  Anakin slid closer, nuzzling into Obi-Wan’s hair.  “Not even as a Padawan?”
“Goodness, no.  Qui-Gon would have been shocked.  I was something of a prude.  I do not think I even thought it; as I recall, if I considered the topic, I used the term ‘organ’.  And I rarely caught onto to sexual innuendo.  I was very naïve.”
“How times change.  Now there is a great deal of begging, stroking and demanding I make better use of my, ah, organ during sex.  Luckily, I’m always happy to oblige.”  Obi-Wan stirred as the stroking hand moved lower, moving through the trail of hair at his groin and into the warm spot between his legs.  “I can take your mind off your back if you like,” Anakin said softly and Obi-Wan closed his eyes and wondered if he would ever grow tired of that familiar strength applied with such gentle pressure. He rather doubted it; some connections were lodged too deeply in the spirit to fade.
There were, after all, other ways to sleep, like being held against a damp, hot chest, lying between open legs, his face resting easily above the beating of that sturdy heart.  To the galaxy beyond the big windows of their rooms Anakin was an Emperor and a man of power and dread but there, in that place, he was Obi-Wan’s to love, to share the days and nights with, to raise their children and to gently shift back towards the Light.  For that ultimate victory, he could put up with many small discomfits.

FAQs
What is a bingo?
A bingo is a fandom challenge, in which participants are given a card (either 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 grids) with prompts in each square. The goal is to get a bingo by completing prompts in a line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) or complete all the prompts for a blackout.
Badges will be awarded to anyone who gets a bingo or fills some specific sets of squares (a square, a line, a whole card etc.).
What is the schedule?
Sign ups open: April 22nd 2023
Sign ups close: May 4th 2023
Cards go out: May 11th 2023
Square swap request deadline: May 25th 2023
Last day to submit fills: December 31st 2023
Badges go out: January 31st 2024
What kinds of prompts will there be?
When you sign up you will be asked what types of prompts you would like to opt-in/out of.
SFW/Gen: general, non-sexual prompts.
NSFW: explicitly sexual, kink, and smut related prompts.
Dark: darker prompts such as noncon, dubcon, Sith!Qui-Gon etc.
The prompts can be interpreted however you see fit—let them inspire you! A fill does not have to follow the theme of the prompt, so have fun with it. Sith!Qui-Gon may have turned to the dark side after Obi-Wan stole his favourite pair of socks, after all.
What are the minimum fill requirements?
Fanfiction: Minimum 500 words, no maximum.
Fanart: Clean lineart minimum.
Poetry: 7 lines minimum.
Gifsets/Moodboard: At least 4 images.
What if I don’t like my card?
We’ve tried to ensure every card has a variety of entries and hope that you enjoy the one we generate for you! You can take advantage of the 5 swaps per card to swap prompts you don’t like or don’t work for you to help get a bingo.
Can I request a second card?
You can ask for a second card after you’ve completed the first, or even a third card if you finish a second, you overachiever! The only thing we ask is that you complete at least one bingo before requesting another card.
To request another card, please fill in this form.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish my card. Can I sign up for one anyway?
Of course! While this is mainly a challenge to get one or more bingos, or even a blackout, this is meant to be a fun way to inspire you to create more QuiObi content. Even if you think you’ll only fill one prompt, or aren’t sure you’ll be able to fill any, we would love for you to take part anyway!
What ratings are allowed?
Anything from general work to explicit work is welcomed! Please tag, rate, and warn appropriately (see the rules).
What are badges?
Badges will be given in recognition for taking part in the bingo!
You will receive a badge for:
1 square,
A bingo (a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line of squares),
Blackout (all squares completed),
Slash (all of your fills are focused on the romantic relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan),
Gen (all of your fills are focused on the platonic relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan),
Non-bingo awards for participation and commenting on fics/other works.

QuiObi Big Bang 2023 - Sign-ups open February 1! FAQ
How does a Big Bang work?
A Big Bang is a type of fandom event dating back to 2005. Its purpose is to create a burst of fandom content that features new fics with accompanying artwork.
The writers who sign up have a set amount of time to complete their story. Once more than half of it is drafted, summaries are submitted and shared anonymously to be claimed by the artists, who will illustrate one or more scenes from the fic.
Once partnered up, writers and artists collaborate to produce the finished work by their posting date. Please keep in mind that this is not a commission. Artists may choose to illustrate a different scene than what the writer had in mind. You are both creators, so please be respectful.
Where do I sign up?
Sign-ups open on Feb 1
Author Sign-ups Close: April 1
Beta Sign-ups Close: April 1
Artist Sign-ups Close: June 1
Do I have to have a Tumblr?
No. You are only required to have an AO3 account and an email address where mods and collaborators can contact you.
Can I sign up for more than one role?
Yes, you may sign up as a writer, an artist, and/or a beta. The only rule is that you cannot make art for your own fic as this is meant to be a collaborative event.
We also have a restriction of one fic per author; co-writing is allowed but this counts your single fic allowance.
Can I submit a work that I have already started?
If the work has never been posted anywhere, then yes. New prequels or sequels to a work that you have already posted are allowed.
Does my work have to be slash?
No, gen is also accepted. Platonic, romantic, and anything in between is allowed as long as the relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is the focus of the work.
Are crossovers and AUs allowed?
AUs are definitely allowed. Crossovers are as well on the condition that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are the focal point. Crossover characters must be secondary.
Can I write original characters?
Yes, if they are minor characters.
Will you be assigning betas? Are they required?
We do ask that all fics have a beta. We will be holding beta sign-ups and will provide the list of names and contact info, but we will not be assigning a beta to your story. We want you to be able to work with someone who makes you feel comfortable as a creator.  You are free to choose your own and will not be restricted to the provided list.
What is a check-in?
It’s a chance for the mods to touch base with the creators for a status update and to see if there is any kind of support we can provide. It will be an online form that needs to be submitted by the check-in deadline. If we do not receive your form and are unable to contact you, we will have to consider you dropped from the Bang out of fairness to your collaborator(s).
I accidentally missed a check-in but still want to participate. What can I do?
Contact the mods as quickly as possible. Depending on where we are in the Bang schedule, we may be able to allow you back into the event.
How  do claims work? How much will the artists see for claims?
Claims will be submitted via an online form and then collated into a document that will be shared with the artists. They will be first come first serve.
Artists will be able to see a summary, rating, and any applicable warnings/tags.
Detailed instructions regarding how to submit your work for claims will be provided to authors before the due date.
I can’t contact my collaborator or we are having difficulties working together. What should I do?
Contact the mods immediately so that we can assist with contacting your partner or reassign you. Not everyone works well together and that’s okay.
Can I change my tier?
Creators have up until the end of claims to change their tier from the one on their original sign-up form. We understand that plot bunnies can grow or bandwidths can shrink.
If any creator needs to change their tier after claims have closed, please contact the mods as soon as possible.
What if I fall behind or need to drop out?
We understand that life happens. If you need to drop out or change your tier, we ask that you let us know as early as possible, but no later than June 1 for authors and July 15 for artists.
If an artist drops out, we will arrange for a pinch hitter. If an author drops out, we will offer the artist the opportunity to post their art on their original posting date, since they will already be creating their work based on the author’s story.
Most importantly, we just ask that you contact us with any issues or concerns. We are happy to work with you on an individual basis. Ghosting will impact your eligibility to participate in future events.
When do I post my work?
Bang works will be posted on AO3 throughout the first part of August. A schedule will be made based on date preferences submitted by the author/artist teams.
There will be a grace period for late works until September 30. The Bang will officially close on October 1.
How to contact us:
You can email us at [email protected].

Jedi Quest #8: The Changing of the Guard - Jude Watson
Anakin looked over at his Master. They had grown even closer over the past months. Anakin had broken down after the mission on Vanqor and confessed his fears to Obi-Wan. He had been afraid to tell his Master how there were times he no longer wanted to be the Chosen One. He realized that he had been walking around with a nameless dread in his heart. He didn’t know what he feared, but he knew that he lived with the fear every waking moment. Saying this out loud had shocked his Master, but it had freed Anakin in a way he still didn’t understand.
Perhaps it had been his experiences in the prisoner-of-war camp on Vanqor that had caused him to unburden his heart to Obi-Wan. Whatever the reason had been, it had changed something between them. They had grown closer. They were truly Master and Padawan now.
He knew what had happened was a classic step in the Master–Padawan relationship. The apprentice invites the Master, and it begins. As learners, they had all wondered what the expression meant. The Master was the one to invite a Jedi student to be his or her apprentice. That was how it started. So what was the meaning of The apprentice invites the Master?
Now he understood. He had been Obi-Wan’s apprentice for years before he had truly trusted him with the inner workings of his heart and mind. Once he had invited Obi-Wan to share his deepest fears, his worst nightmares, their relationship had shifted and deepened. It was as though they were starting again. It begins. Obi-Wan had told him that the same thing had happened with him and Qui-Gon. “In the middle of our journey together, we began again,” he’d told Anakin.
It was mysterious and wonderful. They knew what each other would do before it was done. They knew what was in each other’s thoughts. Whereas before Anakin would worry about what was on Obi-Wan’s mind, now he accepted that some things he knew, and some things he didn’t, and that many things on Obi-Wan’s mind had nothing to do with him.
He could not read Obi-Wan’s thoughts right now. He had no idea what his Master was planning. He felt just as puzzled as Siri. But where Siri felt worried, Anakin felt excited.
Siri raised an eyebrow. “I’m listening.”
--
He ran his fingers over the cabinet, calling on the Force to help his instinct, his vision, the very cells on his fingertips. He wished Anakin were here. Anakin’s Force connection never failed to astonish him, even in his ease with inanimate objects. Once Anakin had told him that Soara Antana, the great Jedi fighter, had taught him how to let walls speak to him. Since then, Anakin had seemed to be able to judge the space between molecules as well as the objects the molecules made up.
--
“You couldn’t sleep either, Master Kenobi?”
Obi-Wan moved forward. He sat on the grass next to Ferus. It was slightly damp and smelled sweet.
“There are many questions on my mind,” Obi-Wan said. “Sleep won’t come.”
“We face a great enemy,” Ferus said. “And now we find that she’s met with a greater one.”
 “Exactly.”
“And that is why you and my Master made your decision this evening,” Ferus said.
“You don’t agree.” Obi-Wan spoke carefully.
“I don’t disagree,” Ferus said. “I recognize that I don’t have the experience to refute what you say.”
Obi-Wan stifled a sigh. He could see why Anakin had a hard time with Ferus. Ferus always said the correct thing. Obi-Wan preferred the spontaneity of his own apprentice.
“I sense your impatience,” Ferus went on. “You think I only say the correct thing just to impress you or my Master.”
“I don’t think that,” Obi-Wan said. “Well, not exactly.”
“Can I help it if the Jedi wisdom I have learned by rote speaks to my heart?” Ferus asked. “I don’t say things because they will please you. I say them because I feel they are true. It’s always been that way, from my earliest memory of the Temple. When I was taught, it was as though I already knew. Every Jedi lesson seemed to fit a groove inside my mind that had already been worn. It was why learning was so easy for me.”
“You have a great connection to the Force,” Obi-Wan said. “No doubt that is why.”
“So does Anakin,” Ferus pointed out. “Far greater than mine. I can see that. Yet he did not have the problems I did at the Temple. He has made great friends there.”
Obi-Wan was surprised. “But you were popular in your class. Everyone looked up to you.”
“Yes, I was the one whom everybody liked, but whom nobody wanted to talk to. I was welcome at every table in the eating areas, but not invited to any particular one. Everyone was my friend, but nobody was my particular friend.” Ferus picked some grass and let it fall idly through his fingers. “I’ve heard the names they call me. A tunic stuffed with feathers and the Force. The ruler of Planet Dull.”
Obi-Wan frowned. He had not known these things.
Ferus waved a hand. “It’s all right. It’s all true, isn’t it? I’ve never been able to joke like the others. I know I can be pompous, too correct. I never learned how to tease the other students. They came to me for help with their studies, they looked to me for answers, but no one wanted to be my friend. Not my true friend, the way Anakin has Tru Veld and Darra.”
Was it a trick of the moonlight, or did Ferus suddenly look younger than his years? Usually, he looked much older. His noble features and the streak of gold in his dark hair had given him a look of maturity early on.
But now he looked uncertain, questioning. Young.
“You will find friendships later in life,” Obi-Wan said, after a pause. “Friendships are hard to maintain for the Jedi. It is why we treasure them. Let go of your longing, and what you want will come.”
“Or else I am meant to stay the way I am,” Ferus said. “I wish I had what Anakin has. His connection to the Force is strong, yet he also connects to beings very strongly.”
“Yes,” Obi-Wan agreed. “I’ve seen this. It’s something Qui-Gon Jinn had, too.”
“I know that Anakin will never be my friend. He knows I fear for him. I give him warnings when I know I shouldn’t, when I know it’s none of my business. So he resents me. I thought in the beginning…since I was a little older…that I could tell him things that other students couldn’t. It’s just I see things a fellow student would see.”
Here it was. Ferus had been leading to this. He wanted to tell him something. Obi-Wan felt impatient with him, but he calmed the impulse. He felt protective of Anakin. Ferus didn’t understand him. He had always been the correct student, the one who did everything right. He could not begin to know the fears and regrets Anakin had to deal with.
“And what do you see, Ferus?”
“I fear for him,” Ferus said quietly. “To admire him and feel fear for him at the same time didn’t make sense to me. It took me a long time to understand why I feared for him. I wanted to be sure there was no envy in it.”
“Do you envy him?” Obi-Wan asked.
“I suppose all the students do, in a way,” Ferus said. “He is the Chosen One. But what worries me is his will.” Ferus hesitated. “His power is so great that he thinks his judgment is as well. You saw his arguments tonight. He sees something is right, so therefore he must do it. He argues against you without hearing you. He thinks he can change situations, beings. Maybe he can’t do it alone, not yet. But someday he will. Should we trust someone who always believes he speaks with the voice of absolute right?”
That is it, Obi-Wan thought. That is what I see. What surprised him was that it was coming out of the mouth of one of Anakin’s peers, a boy only a year or two older than Anakin, someone who had only been on a couple of missions with him.
Ferus is always watching me, Anakin had told Obi-Wan resentfully.
And so Ferus was. But Ferus’s mature judgment surprised Obi-Wan. Surprised him and irritated him, he had to admit. Ferus did not allow for the goodness of Anakin’s heart. He did not see how hard Anakin tried. He did not know that Anakin questioned himself all the time.
“You are very observant, Ferus, but you must accept that I know him better than you,” Obi-Wan said carefully. “Anakin can be arrogant. I know that. But he is also learning and growing. He is respectful of his great power. He does not abuse it. He is younger than you, but he has seen much injustice, many terrible things. I do not think it so wrong that he wants to change things. You must understand that it isn’t ambition that drives him. It is compassion.”
Ferus nodded slowly. “I will think about what you said.” He stood. “Please know that I say these things only because he is the Chosen One, and the stakes are so high. Good night, Master Kenobi.”
“Good night,” Obi-Wan said.
He could have said more, but it wasn’t appropriate to debate Anakin’s character with another apprentice. He would have to sift through Ferus’s words and ponder them. He would have to let go of his impulse to protect Anakin and search for the truth in what Ferus had said. Ferus had touched on his own fears, and he needed to think about that.
He breathed in the night air. Not tonight, he decided. He valued his new confidence in Anakin. He needed to guard it. He needed to forget what he feared, just for a little while longer. He wanted to treasure what he had.
--
Anakin shook his head. “I’m not leaving you here, Master.”
“Yes, you are, because I’m ordering you to,” Obi-Wan said. “Remember, my young apprentice. The mission is first.”
Obi-Wan put a hand on Anakin’s shoulder briefly. The gesture told Anakin that he appreciated his support, but his decision was firm.
But Anakin still didn’t want to go.
--
The rising sun brought a kind of calm to the streets. The resistance workers patrolled now, trying to restore order. Obi-Wan and Anakin sat outside, ready for trouble, though they had received no threat for hours now.
 “A long night,” Anakin said.
 “Yes.”
“Even after this night, I still think we weren’t wrong.”
Obi-Wan sighed. He tried to smooth the trampled grass underneath his hand. “Wrong or right—I’m not ready to make that call. We made the decision using the facts we had.”
“But we were right,” Anakin insisted.
Obi-Wan saw the will Ferus had been talking about, the need to bend the situation to Anakin’s own vision of it. The need to be right.
“Anakin, sometimes sureness is not what you should strive for. A little confusion in your mind can be a good thing. Will we be proved right ultimately? I hope so. Did we do the best we could? Yes. That I firmly believe. That’s enough for now.”
--
Anakin punched the wall with his fist. It was a rare display of anger. Zan Arbor had slipped through their fingers again.
--
“Ferus is wise beyond his years,” Obi-Wan went on. “He thinks deeply. But even though an outcome may seem likely, sometimes one has to risk for the right result.”
“Yes, Ferus is reluctant to risk too much. Not like Anakin,” Siri said. “He’s willing to risk everything.”
She meant it as a compliment, Obi-Wan knew. Siri admired Anakin’s daring, his sureness, how fluidly he used the Force. It was unusual for Siri to second-guess a decision, just like Anakin. In some ways, Obi-Wan was more like Ferus. How odd that he and Anakin had become a team. Their temperaments were so different.
Choose the Master, the Padawan does.
Yoda had said that to him many times, from when he himself was an apprentice. The old Jedi Master believed in most cases that the Force drew the Master and his apprentice together for reasons they couldn’t see themselves. Obi-Wan felt strongly that this was true.
--
“I feel sorrow that lives were lost, but the outcome is good,” Mace said to the Jedi. “This change on Romin will make a better world.”
He turned to Ferus. “You spoke well just now. You allowed Joylin to make his decision and save face in front of his supporters.”
“There is a bit of pride mixed in with his politics,” Ferus said.
“Ferus showed a greater grasp of this situation than we did,” Siri said lightly. “He predicted a chaotic takeover. He said that Joylin would surprise us, and he was right.”
“Good, Ferus. We need to anticipate problems,” Mace said.
Obi-Wan noted that Anakin looked unhappy. Mace had singled Ferus out for praise. He moved closer to his Padawan.
“I am proud of you,” he said. “You fought well, with compassion and precision.”
 But Anakin was not listening.
 Something was wrong.
--
Anakin hung back, watching Joylin carefully. He knew the Force was helping him, he knew that this sudden power was a new side of the Force that he hadn’t yet tapped, and he was filled with a sudden sense of exultation. He had even more power than he knew. Suddenly, he saw into the heart of Joylin. He did not see just what Joylin wanted them to see, or didn’t care if they saw, but the most secret part of him. Joylin suddenly looked so small. He was such easy prey.
I didn’t know this, Anakin thought. The Force isn’t just about manipulating objects. I can manipulate beings, too. I can use their fears and secrets.
“You did it,” he said to Joylin. “You let him go.”
The Jedi turned to look at him, surprised.
“Those guards aren’t taking Teda to prison. You never wanted him to surrender,” Anakin said. “You knew he was too much of a coward to do so. You just gave him the ultimatum so you would have an excuse to execute all his loyal followers. You were afraid if they survived they would build a power base and ultimately destroy you. You knew that Teda was nothing without them, that he wasn’t capable of running a government. He’s just a figurehead. You don’t fear him, so you don’t need him dead. You just need him gone. So if someone like Zan Arbor pays you enough, you’ll allow him to escape. She made the deal with you at the beginning of the revolt, didn’t she?”
The Jedi turned back to Joylin. His angry silence told them everything.
--
“I do not know that you’re correct,” Mace said. “A position I find myself in all too often these days. If you feel strongly, Obi-Wan, I support your decision. But everything depends on getting that tracking device on the ship without being seen.”
Obi-Wan turned to Anakin with such confidence, such assurance, that Anakin felt he would never forget this moment. Trust lay between them, unbreakable.
 “Anakin?”
 “I will do it, Master.”
He took a tracking device out of his utility belt and stood. Keeping behind the supplies, the gravsleds, and fueling trucks, he slid in as close as he dared. He would have to choose his moment. A moment when no one aboard would be looking.
The Force. He could use it. He wasn’t sure how. But he reached out for it and gathered it, formed it to his pleasure, to what he needed.
The engines fired. He was close enough to feel their heat. Now.
The ship rose, just a meter above the ground, hovering for the few crucial seconds needed to input coordinates and information. With the help of the Force, those seconds spun out into more time, enough time for him.
Anakin used the Force to jump straight toward the exhaust, where no viewscreens could see him. The temperature was blazing hot, too hot for a living being to stand, yet he stood it and it did not burn him. He was close to the edge of the landing platform here. He timed the move as the ship rose. With a grunt and a call to the Force for help, he tossed the tracking device as the ship lifted. He saw it catch on the underside. When the ship rotated, Anakin was already back behind the fuel pump, jumping down perfectly with not a millimeter to spare.
The Slams’ ship shot out of sight.
Anakin rose. His legs felt slightly shaky at the dangerous maneuver. His skin felt hot, but he knew he wasn’t burned. Mace and the others walked toward him.
Mace looked at him, his dark eyes raking him. “Impressive.”
“Are you hurt?” Obi-Wan asked him. “I didn’t mean for you to jump into the ship’s exhaust funnels.”
 “I’m not hurt.”
Mace looked up at the vapor trail the ship had left. “I hope we made the right decision,” he said. “Are you ready to track them?”
“Yes,” Obi-Wan said. “Granta has always been one step ahead of us. He has always planned our meetings. Now I will decide how we next meet.”
“May the Force be with you.” Mace started away.
“Uh, Master Windu?” Obi-Wan said. Mace turned and gave him an impatient look.
“Just one more thing,” Obi-Wan continued. “We need your ship.”
Siri sat at the controls. They had been traveling for days now, following the pulse of the tracking device. The Slams’ ship was heading into the vast empty space of the Outer Rim.
Ferus had stretched out on his sleep couch. He would take the next piloting shift. Obi-Wan sat at the table in the eating area. He had spread out a number of holofiles, information about Granta Omega gathered by Archivist Jocasta Nu at the Temple. Obi-Wan knew the information by heart, but he still didn’t believe it was possible to study it too deeply.
Anakin sat, staring out the viewscreen at the stars. He was in a place of deep quiet, not meditation, exactly, but open to the galaxy, to the energy that boiled from stars and worlds, satellites, matter and nonmatter, gravity, inertia, living beings.
Suddenly, he sat erect. Every muscle tensed.
Obi-Wan looked up. “What is it?”
 Anakin turned to him.
“Omega. He knows we are coming.

Summary: When Senator Palpatine of Naboo is nominated for High Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, he becomes targeted by an unknown assassin. The Jedi Council assigns Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan learner Obi-Wan Kenobi to protect the Senator. To Obi-Wan’s great frustration, their protection detail includes Palpatine’s adopted son Anakin Skywalker, who fosters an unusual hatred for the Jedi Order. Their tumultuous relationship will shape galactic history for years to come as the galaxy grows darker under the influence of a Sith hidden in plain sight.
A story told in three parts during Palpatine’s rise to power as Chancellor, the early Clone Wars, and the end of the Clone Wars.
Read on AO3 (from the beginning)
Read on AO3 (from Chapter 16)
Excerpt:
Another battle won at the edge of the Republic’s control. The Separatists had given up rather easily, but Anakin suspected it was because they were regrouping to retake Geonosis. He purposefully destroyed that intel at Palpatine’s instruction. All those battles and back and forths felt meaningless in the long run, but Anakin hardly cared. With their duty complete, it meant that he could finally be alone with Obi-Wan. It was late, and as the rest of their army celebrated, Anakin and Obi-Wan slipped away to one of the makeshift tents.
Anakin smiled as Obi-Wan slipped off his cloak, turning back with a slight grin. Small moments like that were few and far between, and Anakin treasured them more than anything. He walked over to Obi-Wan, running his hands over his shoulders and down his sides.
“You fought well, General,” Anakin said, voice soft.
“It helped to know exactly what we were facing,” Obi-Wan said, deflecting praise as usual. “Shall I call you spymaster extraordinaire?”
Anakin laughed and spun him around, cupping his cheeks as he pulled him into a fierce kiss.
“I love you, Obi-Wan.”
“I love you as well, Anakin.”
Between their kisses, Anakin began to strip Obi-Wan’s armor off. He grinned as Obi-Wan unhooked his cloak, letting it fall to the ground. Trailing his lips down Obi-Wan’s neck, Anakin began to kiss his shoulder, nudging the fabric aside as he wrapped his arm around Obi-Wan’s waist to hold him close.
With a quiet sigh of pleasure, Obi-Wan stroked Anakin’s back, rubbing gentle circles across his skin. They wouldn’t have long before they were bothered, but Anakin fully intended to make the most of it. By then, he knew Obi-Wan’s body as well as his own. He traced his fingers reverently across Obi-Wan’s bare skin and along his spine.
Groaning, Obi-Wan leaned back into the touch. “We don’t have much time, dear one. Someone could come looking at any moment.”
Anakin knew that, of course. It was risky to have sex anywhere outside of the safety of his apartment on Coruscant. Yet, he wanted more. He always wanted all of Obi-Wan. His complete attention, his every thought, and every desire. Anakin knew he could be all of that and more. He ignored Obi-Wan’s protest, gently guiding him back to the bed.
“We’ll be fine,” he said softly. “Trust me.”
Trailing one hand down Obi-Wan’s side, Anakin rested his palm on his hip and squeezed. He pressed his lips tight to Obi-Wan’s neck, feeling his pulse quicken as he shifted and slipped his hand underneath the soft fabric. Obi-Wan drew in a sharp breath, jerking his hips upward. Eager to give into Anakin’s touch.
“Anakin,” he breathed out, sucking in another breath as Anakin started to stroke him. “This is a terrible idea.”
“Makes it feel better,” Anakin said, cutting off any of Obi-Wan’s further complaints with a kiss.

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon
Tumblr media
"Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan disagree about using what one would call in mythological terms "the guide" . One believes in the guide, the other one doesn´t . When you are walking down the street and the are beggars on the street , one character takes the beggar along and the other one says "Why are you doing this, this is not a wise thing to do" The other one says "Yes but beggars can be useful to us" It´s a classic mythological motif but at the same time it´s conflict.
The characters have to grow so what happens is that eventually the character who is agaisn´t doing this has the obligation trasnferred to them.
In this case we have Qui-Gon, the mentor who takes on Anakin and the Padawan who thinks this is a bad idea so we have got a dynamic between these two Jedi, at the end of the film Obi-Wan takes on the obligation to train Anakin, one he can´t really fulfill because it´s over his head. His inability to train this kid properly turns Anakin into Darth Vader and drives the rest of the stories. Not only does he lets his mentor down but it plays into the collapse of the Republic. This is why he feels the obligation to try to rectify the situation with Luke.
George Lucas on Qui- Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi in STAR WARS ARCHIVES, the making of the phantom menace.
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan truly wasn´t meant to be Anakin´s master not because Qui-Gon was a lot better but because he simply didn´t have the empathy to understand the kids needs at the age he started training him, he also thought he could train Anakin as well as other Jedi like Yoda but he was wrong because his perspective was wrong from the beggining.
He saw Anakin as a burden at first, then as someone dangerous because the Jedi Council believed him to be dangerous and later as an obligation but he didn´t see the value in Anakin as himself, separated from the chosen one prophecy or Qui-Gon´s promise so he could not train him as a master would to help him guide him towards a good development and this is the origin of Obi-Wan´s guilt towards Anakin´s fall to the darkside and later why he tries to correct this by sending Luke to train with Yoda so he would be able to kill his father.
I wish fandom could understand this part of Obi-Wan´s character because it´s an essential part of the story, ObiWan isn´t a bad jedi in fact he is one of the best but being good in something doesn´t mean you can be good teaching it which was the case with Obi-Wan.
In Anakin´s case he had a really strong foundation towards goodness from his mother but once he went to the Jedi Council and was rejected, he needed someone who could care for him in a way he understood this wasn´t the end of the world and that his value as a person wasn´t compromised for this rejection and the choice was his on how he would grow up like Shmi and Qui-Gon did but Obi-Wan could not be this for him because his faith in the jedi order is first and he would always take the council side over Anakin, be it when he was 9 or in later years, we also see him doing this with Ahsoka in the clone wars and imo this was why their relationship, while did grow and change and had real love, was going to end badly even without Palpatine´s grooming. Without Palpatine I see them growing distant unless they confronted the origin of their problems.
In short I believe Obi-Wan is someone who believes in the need of the many overcome the needs of the few while Qui-Gon/Shmi/Anakin when he trained Ahsoka are like: Attending, caring for the needs of the one can help us sustain the needs of the many, because if we just support the needs of the abstract many over the few real individuals we meet, we are going to end failing everybody.

It was meant to be a short separation: Qui-Gon would get closer to Mandalorian space, get their informant, and come back. Easy. Less than ten days apart. That was, of course, before the dustbowl of a planet Obi-Wan was staying on signed itself over to the Mandalorian Empire. Now, caught up in the Mandalorian takeover with no weapons, no credits, and no contacts, Obi-Wan has to figure out a way back to Republic space and the Jedi.

A week after an attack that nearly killed him and his son, Jaster Mereel finds Mostross dead on a battlefield. His killer is a Jedi, grievously wounded, who Jaster takes into his care. By Mandalorian tradition, Jon Antilles owes him a life-debt, and Jaster is cunning enough not to let such a thing slip away.
It's meant to be an entirely political arrangement. It doesn't stay that way for long.

sometimes i feel like obi-wan was meant to fall
the emotional kid in the crèche and had a tough time controlling his anger
rejected by qui-gon
sent to bandomeer and ended up being a slave in the mines
finally becomes a padawan
then, the mission to melinda/daan
he leaves the jedi order (the place he tried so hard to belong) to help the young in the war
the amount of distrust that grows between him and qui-gon
when anakin comes along, obi-wan is basically disowned publicly by qui-gon so he could take on anakin as a padawan
(not that he blames anakin, because he is a kid who has no clue what’s going on)
yet when maul comes to fight, obi-wan is still willing to die for qui-gon because he is so loyal (and attached)
the fight with maul is the first time he touches that anger to use the dark side. there is no way a padawan can just beat a sith apprentice without the dark side
when the fight ends and he “kills” maul, i think he suppresses it enough because he wants to complete qui-gon’s final wish to train anakin
(wtf, why would you put that burden on him it’s basically a soon to graduate high school kid now having to raise an elementary student)
so obi-wan suppresses any darkness to become the perfect jedi to train anakin
when the war starts, things begin to change
when arriving at kamino, obi-wan feels the millions of lights, with different personalities
obi-wan is introduced to his commander, cc-2224, who, when asked a name, is hesitant due to pure fear of what happened to past troopers
he slowly learns of the horrors of kamino, the reconditioning and decommissioning of former troopers. the clones are afraid of the jedi due to stories heard from the kaminoans, i mean, they’re just products to be sold
obi-wan goes out of the way to make an effort to learn all of the 212st’s names. yet as the war goes on, he feels the lights blink out on the battlefield
then his ex-padawan gets his own padawan. now, ahsoka is bright, but her training is very different from past generations. instead of learning about cultures and preserving life, they are taught to fight separatists and serve the republic (and that is the exact reason he got kicked out in melinda/daan)
than umbara happens. right under obi-wan’s nose. he was on the planet, sending his troops into massacre
pong krell was a jedi, yet treated the clones like droids, not the life forms they were. while filing the report, obi-wan let himself truly grieve for the first time in the war
when before, obi-wan was rolling down a hill to the dark side, he begins to fall on kadavo
each action obi-wan did wrong became punishment for the tortugas. as they worked pointlessly for “training” the tortugas lost all hope on the jedi. they were the ones to blame for the punishment
the mission was to get the citizens of kiros back. any other action could be seen as an act of war for the republic
this is what the order has become is all obi wan can think, the republics slaves. jedi are supposed to protect the people, not whatever the republic demanded
his spirit begins breaking down. no physical torture can match the guilt of not being able to save others.
unlike bandomeer, he is not the one getting punished for his actions
when he and rex get free, obi-wan wants to kill agruss and his eyes flicker yellow for a moment. but, like canon, rex does it for him
afterwards, rex and obi-wan talk about the horrors of the facility and the lack of faith for the republic and what they are fighting for
rex points out that the clones are a slave to the republic anyway and that they have no other options with their lives (he would never say it straight out to a commanding officer, but this is a headcanon)
“what would you do if we weren’t fighting this war?” “i wouldn’t exist, but i sometimes think many of the vod would prefer that”
that’s when obi-wan snaps. the clones deserve rights more than anyone, yet they will never get it from the republic
the 212th join him with no questions asked cody would follow obi wan till the end of time
obi-wan offers the idea to anakin. he says he is betraying the republic and the chancellor. obi wan says anakin is betraying his troops, yet makes sure he knows that he and ahsoka would always have a place with him
“why?” “the jedi have lost their path. in zygarria, it was get in and out with the tortugas, yet so many remain in slavery.”
“what about my mom?” “what about your mom?” obi-wan was never told anakin was a slave
“i need to stay here. padmé, the chancellor, ahsoka. they need me.” “ok anakin. i am always here for you if you want to reach out about anything” ahsoka stays for anakin
rex wouldn’t leave anakin and ahsoka, but allows for the vod to make their own decision and half of the 501st leaves
so obi-wan, with a battalion and a half leaves the gar and the jedi unannounced. he travels the galaxy picking up clones (who want to join) as well as anyone in need
it is uncalled for and brings the senate and the order to chaos. how can the perfect jedi leave?
as a sith, he isn’t fighting for power or revenge. he is fighting for freedom and justice for the people in the galaxy
the only reason he would fall would be to help others
(he tried so hard to be the perfect jedi, which makes it impossible in his eyes to leave, but is also a great excuse for falling)
he wears armor b/c he wants cody to be happy (the only reason he wasn’t before was b/c it was unjedi-like and straying too far from his beliefs)
he keeps the blue saber, yet also uses blaster now because he became uncivilized
he does read about the powers of the sith and explores what he can do
obi-wan was always good at force suggesting people
while the senate and the public panics (how could they not, the great negotiator has deflected with the best battalion in the galaxy), the order uses the time to reflect. no one joins obi-wan, but there is an unspoken agreement to support his cause
he never explicitly fights against the republic, but doesn’t mind fighting separatists when ever he gets a chance
if a jedi was asked, they didn’t get mysterious help when they were previously losing. yeah, a bunch of clones disappeared, but we won. the senate doesn’t know the difference
falling is a disgrace, but that doesn’t mean plo koon and shaak ti doesn’t send some troopers kenobi’s way as the vod’s honorary buirs
palpatine’s plans begin falling apart
it allows windu and yoda to sooner recognize the flaws in the order and in the senate
barriss leaves the temple sooner, but goes to obi-wan instead of bombing the temple
anakin is now able to trust obi-wan with his and padmé’s relationship, in which he can voice his approval and anakin doesn’t have to feel guilty
when palpatine promises anakin a way to save padmé, he asks obi-wan if that’s true
obi-wan kills palpatine for being a pedo (or he lets fox a clone do it if they want ceaser style)
everyone lives happily with palpatine dead
anakin leaves the order to become a trophy husband (and learn more from obi-wan)
as does ahsoka
the clones get a vacation
i got this idea from @curioscurio ‘s sith!obi-wan fan art
