Play fighting with any of them is bold as fuck but HIM? You don't like your life

I'm not saying he's gonna straight up assault you but out of all the brothers, he has the highest chance of hitting you hard as shit on accident

He probably wouldn't even like play fighting that much. He'd prefer sparring cause at least you're working on your skills. Why you just fucking around?

You gotta catch him on the right day. Some days he's busy and some days he's just legit not in the mood.

If you somehow get this man to cooperate, first of all good job. Second of all, y'all do not stop until you give up.

The type to pin you down and not let go until you admit he won. If you refuse, you're legit not moving.

This is a big guy so you're not moving him. You give up, he lets go and you manage to crack a smile out of him

We never see him smile in the game but listen bitch, I'm here for the fantasy-

If he's not in the mood, I can see him just saying “no” like you're a puppy or smth.

You'd go to swing on him again and he'd either grab your hand or give you a look that tells you he's being serious

Going back to him accidentally hitting you hard as shit, he's used to sparring with two other buff ass men. Imma guess you're not as buff as them, and some of y'all reading this ain't men. Accidents are bound to happen

You'd think the Grandmaster would have more control but I just think it slips sometimes. He's stupidly prideful and he's used to sparring so sometimes that's where his mind goes. Also once again, he probably sometimes forgets a hit Kuai Liang could handle is a hit that'll take years off your life.

I would love to say he gets on his knees and apologizes but this is the same man who betrayed his brothers and was like “why y'all tweaking?” so um…

You're gasping for air and he's “see why I always say no?”

I feel like I'm making him sound abusive but as someone who's play fought with my older siblings, they hit you hard as shit then tell you you're a bitch when a tear slips out. Why the fuck are you hitting me this hard in my chest? You got 5+ years on me-

He's an older brother. He's gonna hit hard. I swear it's in their DNA

And if he does apologize it's not really verbal. He checks to make sure your limbs are alright then offers to do something else.

“Are you gonna say you're sorry?” “For?” “For almost breaking my damn lung” “You started this”

You'd expect that the next time you wanna play fight he'd decline cause he doesn't wanna hurt you again. Wrong.

Remember he's an older brother. THE older brother. Y'all squaring up again. You don't care about your health so fuck it.

Honestly would be super fun besides the limb you're gonna lose

Kuai Liang

Would be more cooperative than Bi-Han but still isn't overly excited to play fight

Bi-Han is the “tell mom. I don't care” older brother. Kuai Liang is the “wait wait wait, I'm sorry. You can hit me back. Calm down. You want some candy?” older brother

Fully aware he could cause terrible injuries but as time passes on, he relaxes more

Definitely play fought as a kid but after Tomas started jumping everytime he heard his voice, he thought “maybe I need new hobbies”.

You’ve interrupted his recovery

He actively focuses on holding back and being soft even if you tell him not to

“Hit me harder” “No❤”

Honestly a fun time though. He holds back when it comes to strength but still tussles with you. Also let's you get hits in even when he could easily dodge them.

If he accidentally injured you frfr, he's checking up on you immediately and says y'all stopping for today.

“No, I'm ok” “Can you even breathe right now?” “Uhhh… yes😀” “We're done”

For sure feels like an asshole depending on how bad you're hurt. He's not sliding down the wall in pain but he's like “damn, that was a little too hard”.

“You can hit me back” “No. I've seen Twilight” “What?” “It's gonna hurt me more than it's gonna hurt you. I'm not doing that”. (Now I wanna write you making them watch Twilight. I'm never gonna be rid of this addiction-)

You gotta hit him back so y'all can be even. It's the only way to move on

Y'all are not doing that shit again for at least another week or so.

“We gotta scrap right here right now” “No”

Does the thing older siblings do when they put their hand on your head so when you swing at them, you're just hitting air.

It's so infuriating so you gotta stop.

The next time though, you swear you're gonna win. You will not.

Tomas Vrbada

The most willing and having the most fun

Tomas has two older brothers that probably jumped him on several occasions growing up and you're gonna try and convince me he doesn't have aggression to get out?

People would probably expect he's the softest but no. He's the youngest. As the youngest myself I can assure you, we are used to putting our all in these fights cause we gotta use all our strength to defeat these evil mfs we live with. Sometimes it's not enough-

You're not his older sibling so he's not scrapping like his life depends on it but I do think he's hitting somewhat hard

Not as hard as Bi-Han, not as soft as Kuai Liang

You feel his hits but it's not knocking the wind outta you

Super fun cause he's also using the environment. Definitely is grabbing a pillow and starts swinging it at you. Definitely is running around the couch to chase you. Definitely has thrown you but made sure to aim at something soft. He's probably even turned off the lights then threw a folded blanket at you

“Cheater” “Don't be upset you didn't think of it first”

You're fighting but laughing at the same time. There's no real tension. Just fucking around.

Probably starts initiating it too

If he does injure you fr, for a split second he'd actually see it as a victory then he'd remember you're not his older brothers and is like “oh shit-”.

Injuring those two would mean freedom (or a worse jumping. really depends), injuring you is not good.

He knows how bad those hits can hurt so he makes sure you're alright. He's not watching you as much as Kuai Liang would but he'd still make sure you're not overly sore.

He doesn't feel as bad as Kuai Liang would cause he kinda knows this shit happens. Kuai Liang kinda got a little bit of guilt cause Tomas gets into a fighting stance when he raises his hand up. Tomas hasn't victimized anyone so he's more chill about these situations 😭

Tells you random ass stories about when he used to play fight with his brothers.

“One time Bi-Han threw me in the air and Kuai Liang jumped to catch me only to throw me against the wall”

“This reminds me of when Bi-Han swept my feet from under me and Kuai Liang jumped on me”

“What is it called when someone jumps on you elbow first?”

“This one time I woke up to them standing over me. I knew it was a wrap”

“One time Bi-Han slapped the back of my neck so hard, it was red for at least a week”

“One time Kuai Liang-” “Tomas… you need a therapist” “I don't think that's what it is”

Unlike Kuai Liang who makes you wait, he's cool with scrapping days later.

Actually says “time out” when he wants a break. Also says “time in” fast as fuck though to catch you off guard

Legit the most fun brother. I don't make the rules (except I do).

Out of curiosity, how far ahead are you on the comic? I mean, you must have it all planned and written out, but I imagine that you are drawing the future of Aurora even while we're reading it.

So is Arc 2 already illustrated and ready for upload while you're on like Arc 5 or something? I'm by no means undermining your need for a break; I'm shocked that you've been uploading continuously for over 4 years at this point. I'm just interested to know how long it takes a person to make something this great. And also if you change any details in the final edit?

Basically: what's the workflow like?

Also I think you low-key inspired me to pick up painting as a hobby. I'm ready to pour so much money into creating things that I know I'll hate. :)

God, arc 5? That's a very generous assessment of how fast I can draw!

Typically, when the comic is updating regularly, I keep a buffer of 10 to 20 completed pages. Right now, in the interest of taking a break, the buffer is 0 completed pages.

Chapter 1 of Arc 2 is completely storyboarded, meaning it's sketched out, the dialog is all mostly finalized barring last-minute rephrasements, etc. It can be read in its current form, it just looks unpretty. In fact, just for fun, here's a sneak peek!

In the next month I'll go through and finalize as many pages from this chapter as possible - which means locking down the panel borders, fleshing out the backgrounds, lining, shading, coloring, polish, etc. - which will be the process of building up a new buffer for when the comic starts back up again in January. During that time, I'll also be storyboarding Chapter 2 and as much of the following parts as I can manage.

I have the next several chapters and sub-arcs planned out in loose timelines - event A happens at location B leading to consequences C and D, stuff like that. Chapter 2, being the closest, is a little more fleshed-out, with a more detailed bullet-pointed timeline and various character ideas I've had that might or might not make it into the final version.

What exactly the chapter breakdown is going to look like is a little more complicated. Initially I'd planned for Chapter 1 to be low-stakes downtime and Chapter 2 to quickly kick off the high-octane adventure again, but when I started bullet-pointing out the stuff I wanted to do in Chapter 2, I ended up with a big pile of slower-paced character moments I thought were well worth exploring, so the runtimes might stretch a little.

Translating those brainstormed notes into storyboards and dialog is what I would classify as the "writing" part of this process. It happens at an erratic pace largely determined by the whims of whatever muse decides to get me in a headlock that day; sometimes I go weeks with no storyboarding progress, sometimes I hammer out fifteen pages in one day.

It's kinda like weaving, to me. The soon-to-be-arriving parts of the story are the most finalized, the most densely woven. A little ways beyond that, things get looser - some patterns may be locked down, but the actual work that'll hold it together hasn't been done yet. And in the far-flung future arcs, it's just the basic bones of the story and a pile of the threads I've planned to use. I know the shape of it, but in order for it to be fun and engaging for me to make it, I need to give myself room to be creative when I'm putting the whole thing together.

I actually have a file called the "Toolbox" that contains every random character or subplot idea I've had, and sometimes when I'm debating where to go with a chunk of story, I'll crack it open and scan through to see if anything jumps out begging to be used. Lotta fun stuff in there that may or may not ever see the light of day. Dropping stuff in the Toolbox is one of the most fun and freeing parts of the process for me!

For me, the psychology of how the games work is even creepier than sending 23 kids to be murdered on television each year. Because not only are these 12 - 18yr old kids being forced to engage in a bloody fight for their survival, or commit atrocities that'll haunt them for the rest of their lives; they are also forced to do so on the terms of the Capitol audience. The hunger games weren't just created as a punishment to the districts. One of the main aspects of it was to provide entertainment to the people of the Capitol.

So during the games, not only do they have to cope with the fact that they could be murdered any second, they should also be cautious of how their actions affect the mood of their audience. In terms of it being a reality show, showing their expertise is enough to gain them some recognition, but what really gains them audience sponsors is behaving in the exact way that is desirable of them, and playing it accordingly.

Throughout the 1st games, Katniss is constantly aware of how the games are being perceived. Instead of focusing on her emotions about peeta joining the careers, she thinks of how ecstatic the audience vil be knowing she was there the whole time, and smirks to increase their curiosity on what was going on. She thinks of how the wall of fire was to shake up the tributes and how the 'real fun' was watching them dodge the fireballs. She plays a cool and arrogant persona when she's stuck up in a tree with the careers around her despite seeing no hope of escape, knowing the audience will be having a laugh (she most likely receives the burn medicine for the promise of dropping the tracker jacker nest). She gives them enough of a promise by destroying the career pack. Then there's the whole thing with Peeta, where she constantly ponders as to how she's going to believably sell the romance on her part to ensure them food. She passes casual comments on how there hasn't been enough bloodshed or 'excitement' that day, hence fearing game maker intervention. She does her best not to show her remorse for the other dead tributes or her longing to escape from this horror because 'no one wants a victor who snivels over the deaths of her opponents'. How she couldn't end Cato's life sooner out of pity, because that was the 'climax of the hunger games, the last word in entertainment as the Capitol audience wouldn't look away from their screens for even a minute', even though that took a severe toll on her sanity( not that she needed it after surviving the whole games). Then the whole 2 victor rule change solely to ensure 'the most dramatic showdown in hunger games history'. To continue their popularity( as a distraction), they are required to act as lovers in front of the cameras at all times, and would be expected to get married and have children who could take part in the games, just for the 'extra drama'. Even smaller things like how they're required to have a hobby after the games to show off to the audience. This applies to the 3rd quater quell too, but I think I've made my point.

In perspective, the Capitol ppl dictate the terms of their lives. Their likes, dislikes, personal relationships, mannerisms, attitudes are all carefully designed to see what gains them the most popularity. Behaving in a certain, expected way ensures that they r'nt cancelled killed. The constant need to know every single detail of their personal lives ensures they r'nt forgotten. Which is why they go desperate lengths to gain that popularity( Glimmer's see through dress being her angle for the interviews....).

Yeah yeah, ofc its just a rant, totally not about a literary master piece dedicated to commentary on our worsening culture, who'd waste time on that when u have twitter anyways?

hey, sorry, but i was wondering how you started on your fitness journey? i'm in a similar spot that you were two years ago and i want so badly to make the progress you have. i keep trying to begin but stopping because i get too scared or nervous, it's so daunting. do you have any good resources like websites/videos/youtube channels/blogs/etc.? i would really appreciate it. you look awesome and your post was super inspiring.

No apologies needed! It is pretty daunting man because it's getting into it for the long run.

Before I finally stuck with it I started and stopped several times in the past as well. If I were to give short tips personally on how to get started based on how I did:

-Start with the most simple thing for you and focus on building a habit out of it. Whatever that is, do it even if you don't want to. For me, I started with a scheduled walk around a trackfield (one full loop around the track) twice a week.

-Take the time to really outline your goals. Make sure to include short term goals and not only long term ones! It helps to say "I'm gonna walk for 5 minutes" and building up to the goal of "I'm gonna walk for 60 minutes", for example. Additional: having something visual can help with tracking it.

-Take it slow, and keep it simple. You're in this for the longhaul. And it will be very slow, but trust the progress and focus on the present

Jeremy Either's Youtube Channel

Great source of information in regards to many things, particularly muscle building. I already had a base understanding of working out due to my sports background, but he's great for complete newbies and for anyone who needs a refresher. I still watch his stuff today but I don't rely on it nearly as much now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing.

Hybrid Calisthenics Youtube Channel

Fantastic channel for complete beginners and for people looking to get into the swing of things again, but at a slower rate. He focuses on being genuinely positive and encouraging finding ways that'll work specifically for you. That includes doing variations of exercises that may be too hard at first, like variations of the pushup, or pullup. Simple routines to get you started without destroying yourself. Very good channel, honestly.

Sean Nalewanyj Youtube Channel

He was the first fella I followed before I found Jeremy. His content is short, punctual, and easy to understand, so if you're looking for much quicker advice without the super detailed explanations his YT Shorts would be recommended. You'll likely have to do a little more research on your own to supplement the knowledge though. Like Jeremy I still watch his content.

Jeff Nippard Youtube Channel

His content is chocked full of research based shit and sometimes can be a tiiiiny bit much to follow, so not really something I'd recommend for beginning lifters. That said, his content in general is downright fascinating and if you're looking for in-depth analysis on the world of bodybuilding, powerlifting, and so on, he's my go-to.

Leanbeefpatty Youtube Channel

Her content is far more vlog-ish, but she gives solid advice while simultaneously just being fun to watch. I like how much more relaxed her stuff is as well, so if you're looking for something that isn't as potentially stressful I'd recommend her over anyone else listed.

Eugene Teo Youtube Channel

I've only just started watching him a couple of months ago but he's been a joy to listen to. His content is relatively chill but he gives indepth explanations without getting too science-y with them. He also promotes things other than fitness that'll help with your goals; stuff like mindful hobbies, healthy food-relation habits (for example: there's no such thing as a good or bad food), so on.

Other sources I've used to help educate myself the more I got into it include MyFitnessPal (I use it to count my calories and macros), Healthline, countless other youtubes I won't list just so I don't talk your ears off, and asking for tips from fellow gym goers who attend the same gym I do.

Basically, Susannah had to go to the doctors for her treatment which means she'll be out for the whole day which also means she had to take one of your brother's with you which turns out to be Conrad!

She already told Jeremiah that you will be staying at home with him and let me tell you HE WAS THE MOST EXCITED PERSON IN THE WORLD

The moment he knew, he immediately thought about what to do with you like playing games and swimming and all of that just to pass time.

When you wake up, there's already food ready for you in the kitchen with his famous smoothie.

After you eat, he would basically just tells you to get ready for today because he PLANNED A LOT. He knows that you get bored easily so he mad sure that he has a lot of options.

You were near his age so he kinda knows what you generation likes, so you guys do get along better than Conrad. I mean you and Conrad still get a long but Jeremiah was like the best friend kind of type.

This was kinda your guys routine whenever it would be the two of you that'll be the one who will stay at home. Jeremiah always had a list already planned out for you guys, it was never the same. Jeremiah is an interesting man so he does a lot of interesting things.

He's the type to try something new, if he tried it and he likes it he'd want you to try it too. He is also a good listener so If you tell him that you wanted to try something new, he will make sure to include that in his list when you guys will be left alone again at home.

You and him would basically play playstation games like half of the day. He's got game spread out on the table and would let you choose what game you want to play, it would always be sims but it's okay because it's fun for him to build houses with you.

IT MADE HIM EXCITED when you wanted to know his recipe for his smoothie. He immediately stopped whatever he is doing and pulled you to the kitchen to teach you how to make his smoothie.

He also loves teaching you surf, because it has become a hobby of his. Conrad didn't have the time because he was in and out of college so Jeremiah couldn't really surf with anyone but when he knew that you wanted to surf, he immediately offered to teach you how to surf

Overall, Jeremiah is a fun brother. He listens and is always down to do new things with you. He is always excited when you would do stuff that he also does, well because you guys are near in age so you guys have the same interests most of the time which just makes him so happy. Not only does he have a sister but he also gained a best friend.

Alright folks, final Qsmp post of the day (--will have mentions of the Forever situation fyi--)

The prison event was very fun and I got some good laughs (especially from the therapy session). I'm glad to be back and have broken the ice after being radio silent for like 3 weeks.

Going forward, I don't think I'll be as emotionally invested with the lore as I was before with Forever's content, and him not being here is still weird for me. There's moments that feel so much like he should be there, and references that I know would've been made if the server wasn't collectively ignoring his existence. I understand why they're doing that, and I'm not saying they shouldn't. I remember seeing some posts after the initial blow up saying it would probably feel off for a while before the server found a way to fully move past it. Its completely understandable, just like I hope its understandable that people like me still feel sad and hurt over the loss. That'll take a while, and I'm sharing this cause I hope this can resonate with anyone who feels the same.

Oddly enough, this whole situation gave me the opportunity to step back and learn a lot about myself. Hyperfixations are a big deal for ND people, it can be life consuming, and as much as I stand by the fact that everything would've been astronomically better if this never happened... I do think it helped me analyze my own brain in a way I didn't before, issues I had been ignoring or hadn't realized. There's a lot to life, and sometimes you lose sight of that when you're zeroed in on one thing 24/7. I'll still think about the cubito and consume content of him until I naturally lose interest (shout out to the other former Forever fans who are doing the same, separating character from CC of course), but from here on the Qsmp is something I'd like to just have fun with. Something for creativity and culture, but as a fun hobby rather than a serotonin lifeline. This may sound dramatic, but you never know what's happening in someone's life, and what they use to keep themselves going when nothing else is going right for them. Its why this kind of content exists, and I'm thankful for what this server provided when I was still figuring myself out. Even with the situation, I don't want to forget about any of it. But I think I'm ready to take a new and healthier approach this time.

Having said that, I'm glad I could be here for today, and I want to continue being in this fandom until the server itself is ready to end. The Prison Event, whether planned in advance or last minute, was honestly a really great way to give a bit of a blank slate for people still feeling weird about Forever's absence. It brought a new premise disconnected from him and gave people like me a reason to come back to livestreams. I'm glad to have broken the ice and to know that I can come back to the Qsmp fanbase and content, even if its different this time, I'm glad its there for me to return to when I feel like it.

There's a billion drafts for other fandoms and topics that I want to get through, and I'd like to be more consistent with them since my Qsmp hyperfixation has calmed down a bit. But I'll be here, sometimes blogging, sometimes just vibing. Its good to be back, I missed all of you a ton. See you at the Inmate Crucifixion <3

Odd little question, but recently thinking over my dislike for a certain zoo game's roster had me making up my own zoo game and thinking about what animals I would pick. Making up games in my head is basically a hobby for me at this point so nothing that'll come to fruition, just some fun. I specifically want to focus largely on animals that can be found in zoos at least somewhat regularly and are actually feasible to keep in captivity. But my wheelhouse is absolutely more vertebrate-based, and my local zoo's invert section focuses just on my country which is of limited help here. In your opinion what are some particularly iconic and/or common inverts to find in zoos? In particular inverts you'd love to see represented in a zoo game!

I find the majority of US zoo or museum insectariums to house the same rather dull 15 or so species of bugs (I am probably being very unfair to these trusty captive species here).

Madagascan hissing cockroaches, jungle nymph stick insects, Atlas moths, lubber grasshoppers, generic big brown tarantula (probably Lasiodora), a immobile big black scorpion (Heterometrus or Pandinus) under UV of course, some sort of large scarab, a big millipede, and a basic large mantis are some overly familiar faces I saw many times in as a kid who loved museum insectariums.

I say mix things up a little, and go for something like huntsman spiders, diving beetles, terrestrial crabs, velvet worms, colorful isopods, bark/twig/flower mantises, giant snails, antlions, tiger beetles… all quite possible to maintain at a zoo

I don't usually plan out my knitting projects in advance. I like to just jump in, with only a vague vision in mind, and see where it goes. I miss working towards a clear goal though, so today I went and got myself some new yarn to make a cardigan/beach cover kinda thing!

I even made some swatches and tried out some patterns to see how they'd look with this yarn, and I'm just about ready to cast on. There's still a lot to be found out about this project, like how long it's gonna be, what I'll do in terms of sleeves etc. but that's part of the fun for me. This is already more prep than I do for most projects.

The yarn is an acrylic/wool blend, which is a first for me, and I'm a little bit afraid that it'll be too warm for summer, but we'll see. The pattern I chose (3rd pic) is also pretty lacey, so maybe that'll help. I'm always looking for an excuse to use a lace pattern, it's probably my favorite kind of knitting to do. Starting off with a new lace pattern is always a bit tricky, but I love reaching that stage where it really clicks and I barely have to check the pattern anymore. Understanding how they work to produce such intricate and beautiful shapes is one of my favorite things about this hobby, and I always get excited when I get to try out a new one.

I really do wanna work on this project and finish it in a reasonable amount of time, and I'll be sure to post updates about how it's going c:

*Devin's cheeks redden slightly as she battles the smile the threatens to break out*

Devin: "Is that so?"

*Houston takes a step closer*

Houston: "Yes. I want to know everything there is to know about you."

*Devin laughs nervously*

Devin: "The funny thing is, I suddenly can't remember a single fact about me...You're ummm..."

*their eyes meet*

Houston: "I'm what?"

Devin: "Distracting."

*Houston grins and takes another step closer*

Houston: "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be."

*Devin bites her lower lip and looks away*

Devin: "It's okay. I forgive you."

Houston: "I have an idea. Why don't we just take turns asking basic 'get to know you' questions? That way you won't feel put on-the-spot while you're...distracted."

*Devin smiles up at him*

Devin: "That sounds like fun. You go first."

*Houston nods, considers his first questions for a moment then responds:*

Houston: "What was your first horse's name?"

*Devin's eyes twinkle as a look of recollection passes across her face*

Devin: "He was a Quarter Pony that my Dad bought me when I was five. His name was Chevy. Because my Dad had a Chevy truck and I liked the word....and I was five."

*they both laugh*

Houston: "That's a really cool name for a horse, to be honest. You had good taste even at five."

*Devin shrugs and smiles*

Devin: "Okay, I guess it's my turn now," *taps her foot as she thinks* "What's your favorite movie?"

Houston: "Oh, that's an easy one. The Big Lebowski. What about yours?"

Devin: "I've never seen it. I mean, I've heard of it. But I've never actually watched it. And is that your next question?"

Houston: "Ah, you're missing out. It's a damn good movie. And yeah, I suppose that'll be my next one."

Devin: "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken. It's a favorite from childhood that I still re-watch a couple of times a year."

*Houston looks puzzled*

Houston: "I don't think I've ever even heard of it."

Devin: "I'm not surprised. It's your standard horse-girl movie."

Houston: "Well, you know what this means, right?"

*Devin looks at him questioningly*

Houston: "One of our first orders of business should be a movie night. A double feature."

*a smile begins to spread across Devin's face*

Devin: "I would like that."

*Houston smiles in return*

Houston: "Then it's a date," *the two share a moment of silence as they look into each other's eyes before Houston speaks up* "Your turn."

Devin: "What do you do for work? Or are you a full time poet?"

*Houston chuckles*

Houston: "Poetry is more of a hobby; a creative release. I'm a mechanic by trade."

*Devin studies his face and considers her next words before replying*

Devin: "Is that how you got the, uh..." *motions toward his face*

Houston: "Scars?" *he smiles reassuringly* "No. Those are from my time as a soldier."

*Devin nods, still studying his face*

Houston (softly): "Do they bother you?"

Devin: "No, of course not. If I'm being honest," *she glances down, bites her lower lip and blushes before finding the courage to continue* "I find you really *bleep*ing attractive."

*Houston smiles and glances away*

Houston: "I, uh, thank you," *looks back Devin* "I'm sorry. I'm not used to being complimented. Especially by someone like you..."

Devin: "Someone like me?"

Houston: "Someone as incredibly beautiful and amazing as you. I mean, I feel like you're a thousand miles out of my league..."

*Devin exhales sharply*

Devin: "There go all those right words again."

Houston: "You mean the only words. The truth."

Devin: "I'm not 'out of your league' though," *she now takes a step closer to him. they're only inches apart* "I'm just a regular girl, looking at a man that makes her heart race...."

*Houston, without missing a beat, puts his arms around Devin's waist and pulls her against him. she reaches up and gently cradles the side of his face, her thumb tracing along his scar. the pair lock eyes*

Houston (whispers): "What are you doing to me?" *gently tightens his hold on Devin* "I know we just met, and this is going to sound crazy, but *bleep* I really like you."

*Devin smiles and bites her lower lip*

Devin: "It might be crazy, but I really like you too."

*Houston grins widely and the just look at it each other, in that way where they're both waiting to see who goes in for the kiss first*

*Devin leans in, closes her eyes and gently kisses Houston's cheek. he smiles and leans into it*

Houston: "Does this mean you're going to send everyone else home now?"

*Devin laughs and gently shakes her head*

*the camera then cuts to Devin in the diary room*

Devin, in diary room: "You asked me earlier tonight if I had any top contenders so far. I'm comfortable answering now. Houston. Our connection is....intense, but also effortless. And I've never felt chemistry like that. It's so...electric. I'm really, really excited about him. I have to see where this goes."

Houston, in diary room: "This has been the best night of my life. Honestly. Devin, she's...incredible. Better than incredible. I don't even know the words. And I've never felt a connection with anyone like this before. My heart feels like it's on fire right now!"

*as Devin descends the stairs, Handra quickly makes his way over and waits for her*

*Devin stops at the foot of the stairs once she notices him. she smiles in greeting.*

Devin: "Good evening, Handra."

Handra: "Good evening, Devin. I was wondering if you'd like to take a walk out to the pond?"

Devin: "Sure! Just let me grab my jacket first."

*Handra beams*

Handra: "Okay. I'll wait here."

*the next shot opens with Handra and Devin walking toward the pond, their arms are linked*

Handra: "Have you had a good first night with everyone?"

Devin: "I have, yeah. Everyone has been really nice so far. But, I'm excited to finally get some time with you, Mr. 'You Stole a Pizza My Heart.'"

*Handra smirks*

Handra: "I'm glad to finally get time with you too. It's been tough waiting. It seemed like every time I went to approach you someone else got there first."

Devin: "Yeah, it's seemed pretty aggressive all night, the, you know, the trying to get my attention. It feels a bit weird."

Handra (teasingly): "What? You're not used to dating five guys at the same time?"

*Devin's laugh rings out in the cool night air*

Devin: "Certainly not."

*the pair reach the pond*

Handra: "So, are you tired of talking about yourself yet?"

*Devin chokes out a single chuckle*

Devin: "Oh my Watcher, yes!. But, I mean, that's what this whole process is about, right?"

Handra: "True. But, if you want to talk about something else we can. I'm just happy to spend some time with you."

*a smile lights up Devin's face*

Devin: "That is so incredibly sweet and considerate of you, Handra. Thank you."

Handra: "You're welcome. So what will our topic of conversation be?"

Devin: "I want to talk about you."

*Handra smiles sheepishly*

Handra: "Alright. What do you want to know?"

*Devin considers her first question for a moment before answering*

Devin: "What do you do for work?

Handra: "I used to be a pastry chef, but now I"m a rancher."

*Devin nods*

Devin: "Interesting! That's quite the switch. What made you decide to get into ranching?"

Handra: "I grew up on a farm in Henford-on-Bagley, so I've always known this life. Growing up, I wanted to be a chef, though. So, when I became an adult I chased that dream all the way to San Myshuno. But, when my Mom got sick, I moved back home to help with the family farm. And after she died, my Uncle took it over and moved here to start a new life. That's the short version, anyway."

*Devin's eyes search his face and she looks amazing*

Devin: "Wow. That's crazy. There are some incredible parallels in our stories. I also grew up on a ranch. Training horses is all I've ever known. And when my Dad got sick, I found out he was signing over the family ranch to his brother instead of me. So, I used my inheritance to move here and buy this ranch."

*Handra lets out a long puff of air*

Handra: "That is crazy. And to think we've been in the same 50 mile radius all this time."

Devin: "Literally neighbors. Brought here under such similar circumstances."

Handra: "Well, regardless. I'm glad we're here, together now."

*Devin smiles up at him as their eyes meet*

Devin: "Me too."

*Handra returns the smile*

Handra: "What else would you like to know, love?"

Devin: "Uh," *falters for a moment before regaining her confidence* "Here's an important one. What are you looking for in a relationship? Out of this?"

Handra: "I'm going to be completely honest with you, because that's who I am. I'm here because I'm ready to settle down. I want to get married and start a family...with the right person. And if it turns out we're that for each other, well, yes, that's what I'm ultimately here for. As far as what I want out of a relationship? Honesty. Kindness. Mutual respect. Passion. Friendship. A lifelong adventure partner. All of that."

Devin: "That sounds...yeah. That sounds perfect. Thank you for being so open."

*Handra flashes a sideways smile at her*

Handra: "Anything you want to know....I'm your open book."

Devin: "Okay, then. What's something you're scared of?"

*Handra looks confused for a beat and then stifles his chuckle with his hand*

Handra: "Random, but I like it."

*Devin shrugs*

Devin: "Just trying to keep you on your toes."

Handra: "I appreciate it. Ah, let's see," *takes a moment to ponder* "Heights. Thunderstorms. And bears."

*Devin nods in approval*

Devin: "Fair answers. I mean, all of those things could kill you."

Handra: "Exactly! What about you?"

Devin (teasingly): "Oh, no. We weren't talking about me, remember?"

*Handra laughs*

Handra: "Fair enough."

*Devin crosses her arms and purses her lips*

Devin: "Really deep open water. Sharks. Getting buried alive. Oh, and spiders. I hate those eight legged *bleep*ers."

Handra: "Also all fair answers."

Devin: "Thank you."

*a chime can be heard coming from the house. the pair turn to look before returning their attention back to each other*

Devin: "I suppose that's our signal to go back."

*Handra sighs*

Handra: " You know what they say. All good things must come to an end."

Devin: "Do they though?"

Handra: "I suppose not. We could run away."

*Devin laughs*

Devin: "But we should probably go back in."

Handra: "As you wish."

*as Devin and Handra make their way back to the house, Handra reaches for her hand. together they walk hand-in-hand all the way back*

Handra, in diary room: "I don't feel like I got enough time with Devin, but if I'm being honest, I don't think I will ever feel that way. She's just so much fun and so easy to be around that I found myself not wanting it to end. I like her. I really do. Watcher, I'm so lucky for this chance."

Devin, in diary room: "There is this deep level of maturity to Handra that is so appealing. What's that saying? He's wiser than his years. And we are on the same page on so many different levels it's crazy. There's definitely a connection there, but it feels like it may be a slow burn. I don't know. I may need to get some matches because we don't have time to let it smolder. 6 weeks ain't that long."

*the next shot opens with Devin closing out the Welcome Home Cocktail Party*

Devin: "I just wanted to thank you all for an unforgettable night. I've really enjoyed getting spend time with each of you. The connections we've started to form all feel unique and I hope you're looking forward to exploring them as much as I am over the coming weeks."

Devin (continues): "But for now, your rooms are all waiting for you upstairs. Get some rest, because tomorrow the competition officially begins!"

Rook: I wonder who the "Magical Pendulum" has chosen as my presenter?

Rook: For it to be kept a secret until the start of the interview… I cannot help but feel the excitement course through me!

???: Ugh… Even just doin' the interview's a pain in the neck, but of all people it's gotta be this guy.

Rook: Oh my, this voice is…

Leona: Sigh… Happy Birthday, Rook. …This is a major hassle, so let's just get this over with.

Rook: Fufu, thank you for your kind words. So, Roi du Léon is my presenter, I see.

Rook: I've been looking forward to this today. Let's have the best time together!

Leona: Oh yeah, would be great if this was any fun. Let's just get down to it already. The first question is…

Leona: “Are you good or bad at flying?”

Rook: Hm, flight, you say. I suppose I'm about in the mid to upper ranks in ability.

Rook: I have no issues with any of the simple movements like flying fast, soaring up high with enough momentum to disperse clouds, or dropping to the ground in one go at breakneck speeds.

Leona: Well yeah, guess you'd at least be above average if you can do that.

Rook: Right. However, I personally would like to improve my flight skills further.

Rook: Perhaps to the point where I would be able to shoot a bow easily while in the air.

Leona: Huh. You seem pretty determined.

Rook: Oui! If I can learn it, it may come in handy one day.

Rook: However, attempting to control the broomstick while focusing on something else entirely is harder than it may seem.

Rook: The other day while riding a broom, I tried to practice shooting at something off in the far distance with my bow and arrow, but...

Rook: As soon as I took aim, the broomstick's center of gravity shifted, and it swayed something awful. I was so very close to falling off.

Rook: It may still take me some time to be able to fly as I would like with a bow in hand.

Leona: Well yeah, I'd hope so. If you're able to do something like that so easily, then that'll cause more problems for me…

Rook: Right. It's difficult. That is why I am certain that I will be overjoyed once I am able to acquire this skill.

Leona: That so. Well, hope that works out for you.

Rook: Thank you! I'll take your warm encouragement to heart and continue my practicing.

Rook: But speaking of flight class… It is not only fascinating to diligently develop your own techniques, but to also watch the growth of other students, as well.

Leona: So, basically, you're just staring at the other folks trying to fly in class, huh. That's a great hobby you got there.

Rook: Well, that's because there are so many unexpected revelations that can be discovered during flight class. For example…

Rook: There are those who are usually so quiet and shy, but the moment they are on a broom, their personality does a complete 180 and their excitement soars.

Rook: And on the other hand, there are those who are normally so daring and confident, but become cautious beings who only fly to a height where they won't injure themselves were they to fall…

Rook: And so on, and so forth.

Rook: You should also observe those around you during the next flight class. You may have a worthwhile experience.

Leona: Oh, I can see just how much you enjoy your weird hobbies well enough from here, thanks.

Rook: Fufu, I am glad that you are able to understand me more.

Rook: Is it about time for the next question? I excited to hear what you'll ask of me next.

I'd dug it up earlier to send to someone as it had been relevant in conversation recently, so may as well post it here too; a lil bit of CatLore(tm) for my main Warhammer Army; the Knights of Noble House Valere.

When I decided that it would be healthy for me to try to partake in physical hobbies more often rather than spending all my free time online and having almost exclusively online friendships, the first thing I went to try was Warhammer. I'd been trying to get into it for nearly a decade and I've always loved my funny little minis and models so it was the most obvious choice to me, especially being that I'd just been given a new 3d printer I could make terrain and models with. However, this came with a small issue; I didn't like the style of the models I already had as much as I used to. Which meant I needed to browse through which factions 40k had to choose from, and find something with an aesthetic I did enjoy.

What I found that i liked was the Imperial Knights and Grey Knights.

First, some official lore as Context;

Imperial Knights are huge mechs owned by influential families called Noble Houses. Before the founding of The Imperium of Man wherein the God-Emperor took the Golden Throne, the Noble Houses were some of the first humans to leave Terra and colonize the galaxy in an event referred to as The Long March. For the purpose of this colonization, they built huge agricultural mechs with chainsaws that could reave forests for lumber, explosives that could level mountains for construction, etc. Of course, these tools were repurposed into weapons of war. The mechs were equipped with armour that can withstand a nuke and autocannons that shoot shells wider than a man is tall. The planets colonized by these Noble Houses are referred to as Feudal Worlds. When the Age of Strife began and humanity lost a significant portion of the knowledge required to create and upkeep their most advanced technologies, contact between distant worlds was also lost. Many Feudal Worlds that were isolated from this regression have yet to be rediscovered by The Imperium.

Grey Knights are the God-Emperor's Special Boys who live on Saturn's moon Titan in a Grand Fortress-Monestary. unlike other chapters of space marines, there are only every 800 Grey Knights at any one time, and every single one of them is a psyker and has mad wizard powers. They also all wear ~Special Boy~ armour that's been sanctified and blessed with Mystical Rituals that makes them harder to kill than your average Space Marine. They exist only to fight invasions of the Daemon forces of Chaos, and will take any measure to do so. The whole thing is very edgy and they try very hard to be cool.

Unfortunately, the rules of warhammer40k don't normally allow one person to use models from two different factions in their army at the same time, and doing so is referred to as a "Soup Army" which is generally very frowned upon by the gaming community. Regardless, I happen to be and continue to be a fool of a kitty that likes my funny little Knights, and what I wanted to do was run an army that's made half and half of the two factions I like.

That begs the question though; Why would these two factions be fighting together? the Grey Knights are Daemon Hunters, and as such only fight against those corrupted by Chaos, and while the Noble Houses of the Feudal Worlds which have been rediscovered by The Imperium do fight alongside The Imperium, they don't do so Often or Consistently. (And, by game rules, while any imperium army is permitted to field either one large or up to three small Imperial Knights models, that isnt enough for me)

While I do like the Imperial Knights official lore, I'm pretty neutral on that of the Grey Knights (as much as I do like to make fun of them, the idea of an order of paladins that'll show up anywhere, anytime to lay the smackdown on some demons is pretty cool). So, my solution to that question was; What if they aren't Grey Knights? Any military that's fielding gigantic irreplaceable Death Mechs is also going to employ footsoldiers, aren't they?

The Knights I paint and play are of the Noble House Valere, one of the many to take part in The Long March and the many to still be isolated following the Age of Strife. The House, however, has not been idle in it's isolation. From the time contact was lost in the 25th millennium House Valere has continued to make technological progress, re-engineering the systems utilized in their great Knights to smaller and more compact forms, to create Exosuits in which even an untrained wearer could rival a Space Marine in combat. While this is surely impressive, the real feat of innovation achieved by Valere's researchers is undoubtedly their progress in harnessing The Warp. Normally only Psykers would be able to utilize the reality-bending power of The Warp, however the continued study and research between the 25th to the 41st millennium has seen these researchers engineer methods for machines to make use of The Warp, and integrating this into the Exosuits of House Valere's Knights allows every one of their footsoldiers to wield the power of a Psyker.

The current Standing Army of House Valere, which is to say the models I currently have (though many are currently unpainted), numbers at six Knight Mechs, one Armoured Troop Transport, and seventeen Exosuit Soldiers.

In Game Terms that's;

one Knight Preceptor, two Armiger Helverins, and two Armiger Warglaives for 1,000points of Imperial Knights,

one Nemesis DreadKnight, one Brother-Captain, one Brotherhood Champion, one Razorback, five Terminators, five Grey Knights, and five Purifiers for 1,000points of Grey Knights,

which all together makes a happy Tournament-Standard sized army roster of 2,000points.

House Valere's age of peace is not to last much longer, as the universe permits none to escape it's wrath and there are a great many who, whether for Tech-Heresy, claims of territory, or simply Hunger, would see The House's citizens dead.

As a footnote; I do want to clarify that when i wrote this i felt like an absolute madwoman and it seemed very Chuuni / "9th-grader's Overpowered Self-Insert OC" but fuck it cringe is dead, I'm having fun, and others have said its neat so im keeping it.

33. what kind of music does your sim listen to and who is their favorite artist?

grant often describes his music taste as "the exact same emo stuff i listened to when i was 13," but that's underselling his playlists a bit!

he does mostly listen to things under the emo/metal/etc. umbrellas, but he's also a big fan of disco, and he has whole playlists of other music, like songs that remind him of his family (old irish music and whatnot).

his favorite artists, though, are paramore, my chemical romance, fallout boy, bring me the horizon, slipknot, spiritbox, slayer, killswitch engage, etc. ��

aka the bands i reference most in the story for him

34. is your sim a festive person? if so what’s their favorite holiday?

he's totally a festive person, especially when it comes to christmas! he's a hugeeeeeee christmas fan 🎄🎅

of course, grant grew up with a huge family who always get together for the holidays, and he loves that almost overwhelming experience of cramming a billion people in his grandparents' tiny house and talking all throughout the night, with food and gift boxes literally covering up every spare inch of space in the house.

aside from that, i think he likes that people are generally nicer around the holidays and remember the humanity in others, and he enjoys picking out gifts for people and trying to get them something that'll put a smile on their face. because there are so many people to buy gifts for, the family has to do a very convoluted version of a white elephant gift exchange, and the randomness of that is fun for him.

ALSOOOO he just loves sweaters. and sugary treats. what better time of year is there for enjoying those two things?

40. what is your sims favorite hobby?

his favorite hobbies are definitely video games, playing tabletop RPGs, and astronomy stuff, which is normally stargazing. grant has a lot of hobbies, including painting now, but those three things are the ones he enjoys and gravitates to most often 🎮

43. what is a wish your sim has?

without getting too spoiler-y or just repeating the wishes he's expressed in the story, grant wishes he could see his friends more often 😊

adulthood is a bit hard in that respect because everyone is in different places doing different stuff, but he would like to meet up with friends more than he has in the last few years.

50. what is the last text your sim sent (and who did they text)?

"for scientific reasons, i would like to bring a vacuum cleaner to the beach this summer"
