Scene 18, Chapter 7 Part 2

It was necessary. At least, that's what Wednesday told herself.

And for the necessity, Wednesday strode into town with long strides, the wind catching behind her and helping to move her along as fast as she could through the nervousness that was fluttering in her insides. If Tyler really was the Hyde, then that would mean that he really had to have set Xavier up, had to have set her and Donovan—his own father!—up, and it would also mean, based on his pattern, that he will kill again. Her nagging suspicions about what happened to Donovan's chest burned in her mind, the literal danger that he was putting himself in scaring the living daylights out of her so much so that she would decide to do this….

She was nervous, but didn't show it. With Enid’s input, she was finally able to put two and two together. It had to be Tyler. He had already lied to her before, about the severity of the assault he and his buddies committed on Xavier. He hadn't even mentioned a past with the racist Goodmen. What else had he lied about?

The coffee grounds.

He wasn't carrying them around to confuse Elvis. He was carrying them around to confuse the deer.

It’d hit her within a minute of entering the Weathervane. How could she have been so stupid? It was all pouring in just as the aroma of coffee invaded her nose, every little detail she overlooked over the weeks leading up to this point, but of course, the timing of her revelations was terrible. She needed to behave like nothing was wrong. Nothing at all.

And merely touching him wouldn't suffice. He had touched her numerous times to no vision. No, she needed to get as close to him as possible, and if that meant as close as a gag-inducing kiss—the boy did seem to be of the type who just can't take no for an answer—then so be it. It was nothing but a kiss, a meaningless kiss whose sole purpose was for fact finding measures. She told herself that the boy was half Donovan, but it didn't matter—he didn't look like Donovan, he didn't smell like Donovan, he didn't feel like Donovan, and worst of all, he didn't taste like Donovan. He tasted like a soggy tuna sandwich, which he had apparently had for a late dinner.

She could have vomited into his mouth, but it would've just seeped back into hers, so she closed her eyes and tried to imagine that he was Donovan. But, it was impossible without the masculine edge of his beard, or the short, prickly hairs on the bottom edge of his lip; kissing Tyler was like kissing raw chicken breast, but without the added benefit of Salmonella poisoning.

The emotional connection that she had with Donovan aided her in the direction of a chaste kiss with no exploration, and thankfully Tyler wasn't aggressively trying to shove his tongue down her throat. She imagined what it would be like if Donovan walked in on them, and that biting emotion blended with the crawling of her skin as his awkward son kissed her is what caused her head to snap back, her body stiffly whipping like a wood plank towards the floor as she felt both Tyler’s orgasmic thrill as he killed and Dr. Kinbott's death at the same time, each deadly rip of Tyler’s Hyde claws tearing through her seizing nerves as if she were Valerie herself.

I wish we had more female characters like Eleanor Shellstrop. One of the most unlikable people you've ever met. Read a Buzzfeed article on most rude things you can do on a daily basis and decided to use that as a list of goals. Makes everyone's day worse just by being there. Dropped a margarita mix on the ground and tried to pick it up, only to get hit by a row of shopping carts which pushed her into the road where she was hit by a boner pill delivery truck, killing her instantly. Cannot keep a romantic partner despite being bisexual. Had a terrible childhood but will die before she gets therapy. Best employee at a scam company. Just the worst but also can't help but root for her to improve.

Absolute loser. Girl-failure. Bad at almost everything. Literally perfect female character.

Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.

But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.

And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.

And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.

#you have to consider the fact that she has no reason to doubt or question the Creche as the easy fix for her problems.#Go there. Get Purified. Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"

its really wild how many movies and tv shows are just like, obscenely skinny. how many casts are representative of the average population, if you sampled a crowd in a normal store or on a train? how many actually “average” bodies do you see on screen? how often are the stomachs shown flat or concave, how often are the thighs all muscle no fat, how often are the jawlines and cheekbones totally sharp and not covered by even a hint of softness? its bizarre and offputting whenever you start looking at media with that in mind
