PINK SCARF AND LIFE UPDATES

Hello my babies! I wanted to jump on and give you some updates since I know I’ve not been posting/responding much since PS ended…

The long and the short of it is that I’ve been rather overwhelmed. Life is being A LOT. One of my sisters is very, very ill with late stage cancer and we are currently gearing up for her to (hopefully) get a stem cell transplant within the next month. This process is very involved and complex and scary and it’s one of those things that could just as easily kill her as make her better. This coupled with the family dynamics involved as we all try to navigate the situation has been emotionally exhausting.

In addition to that, I started temping back at my old job a couple weeks ago which is not what I wanted to do, but I gotta pay the bills, but it means my time is more limited and I’m way tired cuz my stamina is for shit lol.

And whilst all that’s been happening, I did some research and discovered that there is no way I can publish Pink Scarf as is. *sobbing* Turns out after Elvis died, Tennessee had to create a law specifically for him to protect his rights and image posthumously. This includes using not just his image, but his name and likeness as well. All this meaning I could get sued if I publish, and I DEFINITELY do not want to invoke the wrath of EPE.

Needless to say, this made me very upset cuz I know how much y’all want Pink Scarf on your bookshelves.

HOWEVER, before we all slide into the pits of despair, I think I have come up with a bit of a solution/compromise. I’m planning to rework PS into something just slightly different, changing some things that make it too specific to Elvis. I’ll likely have to change the title, too. But the plot and much of the writing will stay the same. But at least this way, I can still get it out to y’all in paperback form! (And lord knows I certainly can’t help who y’all picture in your heads while you read, soooooo…😉)

I know this is disappointing, y’all, and I’m so sorry I can’t make PS happen in published form as is. I am hoping that this new version is good enough for y’all to still want, and I’m gonna make it the best I can for ya. Honestly, I am thinking having something really close is better than having nothing at all. And of course, PS will still be online in its original form, so it’s not going away!

So, in the midst of all this insanity, I’ve started working on this newer version which is a project in its own right, but it’s taking time and my energy has been zapped with everything that’s going on. 💗🧣💗

For those who have asked about if there are any new Elvis fics in the works, the short answer is yes! I have a post-army fic that I am verrrrryyy slowly working on. The vibe is different from Pink Scarf (more of a slow burn), but I hope y’all will still enjoy it!

Anyway, thank you as always for your support and I’m sorry I haven’t delved into answering all your wonderful asks and comments. I very much appreciate them, I’m just a bit depleted at the moment. I’m still lurking around, just maybe not as active for the time being. But maybe I could jump on Discord or something next weekend if that would be fun for people!

I had been sluggish all night with my work. It probably wasn’t the best idea, especially with Moon following me. He took notice and was repeatedly suggesting I ‘Take a nap’ or ‘Have a rest’, I would brush him off each time. I knew it was making him more annoyed as the night went on, but I was too tired to really do anything about it. Not physically tired, just emotionally, and mentally. I don’t think sleep will fix that so easily. The problems will still be there when I wake up.

I debate with myself if I should tell him. Maybe he’ll have a better solution, or maybe the glitch will freak out hearing me use the T word. I figure it might be worth a shot if I’m careful. I decide to wait until I’m safe in some light to bring it up to him.

It takes a bit, but I finally find myself in a room and turn the light on before Moon can follow me in. He looks at me annoyed as he sits just outside the light reach. Just outside my reach. I take a deep breath and give him a tired smile.

“I am not drained physically. I actually slept just before coming here. So I’m all rested.” I say with a half-hearted thumbs up. I’m careful with my wording, but there are only so many ways I can describe what I’m feeling. Moon's head tilts to the side a little. He’s listening.

“I am, however, exhausted *emotionally*.” I pause to see his reaction. Will the glitch freak out? Will he try to find a way in? It doesn’t look like it. Instead, the pupils just disappear from his eyes, causing him to blend into the darkness more.

I decide to press on, “Things have been pretty stressful lately. I’m overwhelmed with everything I have to do and everything that has happened. It’s a lot to process.” I’m not even hiding how tired I sound at this point. Moon hasn’t moved though, hopefully, a good sign.

“I wanted to be honest with you. I can’t hide these things from you forever. Figured I should explain my attitude tonight before any assumptions got us in trouble. After all, a nap can’t fix everything.” This might have been a bad call, but he seems to be handling the information well. I see him take a step forward. He’s still in the shadow, but closer to the light than I thought he would ever get.

“What do you want then?” He asks quietly. I look at him, a little surprised and a little relieved at the question. I sigh a little in response. I think I want a hug, but I’m not sure if he’s in the right headspace for that. I can always ask Sun later.

As I think my options through I see a hand slowly extend towards me into the light. It’s not the desperate hand of something looking to hurt others. It’s the gentle hand of a naptime attendant who wants to soothe a sad kid. More so, it’s the reassuring hand of my friend who wants to comfort me. I look up at him to see red and white eyes.

“Are you sure?” I ask hesitantly. He nods quietly.

I reach my hand out and he patiently waits for mine to join his on the verge between light and shadow. The silicone on his hand makes them soft and a room temperature. He gives my hand a little squeeze. “It will be okay, we will make sure of it.” He says reassuringly. I give him an appreciative smile and squeeze his hand back. “Thanks, I think I really needed this.”

I don’t even realize my misty eyes until the ache sets in. I turn away a little to rub them dry, but I’m careful not to let go of Moon. Oddly enough, he is what’s grounding me right now.

I feel a gentle hand on my head patting me soothingly. “It’s okay, you can cry. We will stay as long as it takes for you to feel better.” I’m not sure if it’s the reassurance or the permission to lose it for a moment, but before I know it, I’m sobbing. It’s a frustrated sob that stings my throat and drenches my face as I cry into the hand of my friend. I curl into his hand a bit as I take it with both of mine like it’s a lifeline in a storm. Like it’s the salvation I’ve been waiting for. Like it’s the home I’ve been trying to return to.

He moves the hand on my head slowly to cup my cheek. He doesn’t try to raise my head or force me to look anywhere. Instead, he just rubs his thumb across my cheek as I continue to cry into the night.

Eventually, I take some deep breaths as I continue holding his other hand against my face. He keeps rubbing my cheek all the same. I almost hide behind his hand, not ready to face the next moment. I hesitate to look up at him, I probably look like a mess.

“It will be alright, we will figure this out together.” He says in a quiet and gentle voice. I lean into his hand more and squeeze it tightly. He squeezes back gently.

I finally look up at him hesitantly. Moon looks at me with concerned and gentle eyes. “Promise?” I dare to ask, needing reassurance that I won’t be alone in figuring this out.

Moon leans in a little with a kind smile, holding my cheeks with both his hands as he wipes the tears away, “We promise, starlight.”

You held the door open for him to enter, welcoming him in a soft “Good Morning!”. He appeared to tense up at your actions and nodded in response. Hmm so mystery man wasn’t much of a talker either then. Your bookstore was the epitome of cozy, tall oak bookshelves full of books with titles ranging from all across the world. The small areas of wall space that weren’t covered in shelves had small frames of cat pictures or paintings. Your very own cat was curled up on the checkout counter in a pool of black fur. You hummed a soft tune walking over to your spot at the counter and began to turn on the radio music for some background noise. Your mystery man was stalking from to and fro, hands shoved in his pockets, and a contemplative look on his face. You couldn’t help but stare at him. He had this energy and aura about him that was alluring, as he turned in your direction you quickly averted your gaze and picked up a nearby book you had yet to finish “A History of Moths:Worldwide Edition” You eventually got lost in your novel preferring to think about the Comet Moth than about your awkward encounters with your blonde regular. About five minutes past before you heard a soft *Ahem* looking up you made direct eye contact with the blonde guy, this time he was in front of your register with a slightly flustered face. “Oh! Sorry about that” you got a little red in the face, “I was just reading about Comet moths, did you know their long tails are really handy against predators?”you looked up at him expectantly. “No..I didn’t know that '' he gives you a small smile and hands you his book he wanted to check out. You continued to give him some pretty cool facts about Comet Moths and as he looks at you a bit caught off guard you realize-Ohhh you were doing it again. You tended to talk a lot about your passions when they were on your mind. “Sorry about that, I guess I was just really excited about this book” You try to shake off that embarrassing moment and ring up his book. He watches you for a second before quickly saying “Don’t apologize for being passionate about something you love.” you look up at him and give him a small smile feeling your face heat up “My name is Nanami by the way” He held out his hand to shake yours. “Dove” you say, shaking his hand. He smiled and you felt the rays of the rising sun through the windows, you felt them warming up your face. Everything around you began to have this spark to it…

He rambles about his artifacts, trying to catch himself each time he almost slips up that he has stuff from you...stolen from you actually.

He's more of a person affectionate with words, but he likes your hugs and physical affection. He doesn't usually initiate anything, but he certainly loves to give you all the praises.

He gets worried if you're ever in a bad state. Physically or emotionally. He consoles you, and won't let up (whether it's today, or the next year) until you tell him. He wants to know everything about you. He wants to know your life completely.

He's had his fair share of all-nighters. But if you stay up for too long, he gets worried. Trying to get you to sleep.

I love Star Trek, but Star fleet is not very inclusive.

I’m watching the episode of voyager, season 1 ep 16 where they try to force the Maquii crew members to undergo training and it feels so gross.

Maybe the reality is that most of humanity tends not to be instilled inclusive of differences and disabilities.

Instead of listening to their own crew air their grievances, Chakotay comes in and just punches him in the face to prove a point?

There are so many other better ways that situation could have been handled.

I definitely have PDA and watching people being forced to conform to rules and regulations makes me intensely uncomfortable.

It is the one aspect of star fleet that I do not like.

I imagine if I were in star fleet, I would survive by being some sort of bizarre combination of Mariner, Ezri Dax, Counselor Troi, Seven of Nine, and Belanna.

The only way I’m able to keep the intense rage I feel when I witness something that feels “unfair” is by engaging in intense emotional regulation and reminding myself that even people I disagree with deserve compassion and respect.

It is a complicated thought process that I must endure constantly or allow my rage to boil over and affect my actions in ways that do not align with my personal values for how I want to live my life.

I highly recommend DBT therapy if you have struggled with emotional regulation.

Since learning more tools to help myself emotionally regulate and choose to mindfully act from a place of integrity and empathy, I find it much easier to interact with the world.

I have also found that my desire to directly interface with other humans has decreased dramatically.

I am very sensitive to interaction with others face to face and can easily get overwhelmed.

I like myself best when I can regulate my emotions and act from a place that aligns with my values.

In order to do this, it means that I cannot participate in many activities others find enjoyable.

Namely, eating out at restaurants and going to bars.

Both of these activities are incredibly disregulating for me, but I will endure them if I must for the sake of ease - I live with my family and do not have a place of my own to invite people over. I do not feel comfortable having other people in my house around my family because there is a lot of tension in my household.

I know I’m autistic, whether I have a diagnosis or not.

Getting a diagnosis won’t actually change anything about my life because there are no supports available for adults. I would not be able to survive on disability alone, and I can work relatively ok as long as it’s in an environment I have some control over. And that I work alone or with someone one on one.

I have never tried teaching in a larger classroom because I do not think I have the ability to discipline students and I don’t want that responsibility.

Something that has really stuck with me lately is Tuvok saying “do not mistake composure for ease.”

Bubba fusses over you for staying up so late, you need sleep! How can you expect to do the work you’re assigned if you’re sleepy? Bubba tries to get you to go to bed at a more reasonable time while Tommy has a tendency to stay up with you (not for very long, poor boy is tired from his chores). He wouldn’t fuss over you like Bubba but he would also like you to go to bed earlier.

Speaking of sleep, these two are absolute cuddle bugs but of course, more so Bubba. Bubba will curl up around you and squeeze you in his sleep while Thomas would probably hold you close by your waist but wouldn’t squeeze you like you were a little stuffed animal like Bubba would.

PLEEEEASE TALK ABOUT MOTHS AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS YOU LOVE TO THEM!!! They will listen so intently, Bubba will absorb all the info you share excitedly, he loves to learn about new things! Especially if it’s stuff you like! Tommy is listening just as intently but isn’t all excited the way Bubba is.

He may not always understand you but he tries his best. And he does a pretty good job ngl.

Madeleine is a very public and extroverted person, so he’s used to large crowds and gatherings. If you’re ever overwhelmed or overstimulated he’s likely to notice. He’s pretty good at detecting changes in demeanors, especially if it’s you.

He’ll escort you away and give you some time if you need. Otherwise he’ll be extremely clingy to you after you manage to calm down. Expect a big hug from him.

He gives you drawings he’s done of random things. He’s drawn a bunch of moth pictures for you. If he sees a pretty or unique looking moth he’ll try to remember it to draw it for you later.

^ He doesn’t know how to color inside the lines.

He pins and/or hangs any drawing or art you give him on his wall. If he ever runs out of space he just starts using folders and binders and then hangs those up.

Madeleine is mainly expressive through physical affection as well, and he is very happy to accept yours.

I know you are probably busy with your life, and sometimes you might come across some asks that you might not feel like doing a reading for. And that's totally fine and okay, protect your energy. But could you please post that ask and just mention that you won't be doing the reading.

There are no readings I’ve deleted that have asked for one except one that was from January and it was a personal private one. I deleted because I was very spot on about a personal dynamic in the first reading I did for them a few months prior and the second one was asking for future projections with someone they knew personally. That can be hard to read and I’d encourage people to not use spiritual readings for people they can just talk to in person, even if scary.

Readings are more about getting insight you can’t find on your own about things currently impacting you. Such as the future direction of life or things from the past holding you back. A lot of people ask about future spouses or loves they haven’t met yet. Or even messages from people they’ve lost. Those are people they can’t easily communicate with now.

I sometimes post asks related to private readings, like a recent one I posted that told them I did their reading privately. I get to readings when I can and they sit in my inbox until I can get to them. I’ve never said when I would get to readings and have been transparent that it can take time, so please don’t send multiple asks because it clouds my energy and inbox. Thanks for sending in this ask so I can clarify again how this works.

It’s a free service I give as a way to workout my gifts and to help others.
