i really do appreciate novels like silent reading. (i mean for a lot of reasons but like also) seeing an adult romance between flawed people, and those people managing to communicate and cooperate and have a happy relationship as flawed people is so important. there’s a lot of focus nowadays on ‘healthy’ relationships in media. and i do think it’s important, especially in teen and young adult media where communicating healthily and showing firm boundaries shows their audience what healthy relationships should look like. but also?

seeing Heartstopper, and Charlie having anxiety that does make him doubt he’s lovable? that’s important. Real people don’t come into relationship perfect. Real people come into every relationship in life: family, friends, coworkers, lovers, as imperfect people who carry the baggage of every unhealthy coping mechanism they developed from childhood or past hurts to survive, of every injury they went through in life and survived and may not even be aware they still carry those hurts. Charlie could be aware he has self esteem issues, and self hate that’s undue. But he could never be fully aware of how much that might play out into him sabotaging his own relationship with Nick, into pushing Nick away and emotionally isolating, into blaming himself for imagined ‘bad things’ he’s done when really he’s not to blame. real people Are Imperfect, and seeing Charlie doing his best but still making some mistakes is realistic. Seeing him and Nick resolve it with support and communication is wonderful, is realistic, is how real people who are Always Somewhat flawed build healthy relationships and resolve issues when they inevitably crop up.

Silent Reading is also a case like this, although a more extreme adult version with of course murder and higher unrealistic stakes. But Fei Du? He is a man with ptsd, that causes him to rely deeply on unhealthy coping mechanisms and to delude himself to such an extent he is not even aware of the full scope of his trauma and is not doing concious work to fix it. He’s convinced himself it’s not there, he avoids it, he suppresses his emotions, he numbs himself to his own feelings. He’s functioning, to a large degree, from a place of trauma and heavily relying on coping mechanisms that are harming him to some degree and will Eventually over the course of his life need to be worked through. Now, this doesn’t make him irredeemable. He’s a young adult, and honestly a lot of young adults come into adulthood carrying a huge amount of childhood trauma or baggage from formative relationships and have no idea they’ve even got trauma affecting how they act. Then it’s a lifetime of work to realize that it’s negatively effecting them, and to work on making more conscious healthy choices for themselves, and healing. It’s a lifetime of work, and a young adult shouldn’t be expected to already know all the ways they’re hurt and may be carrying that baggage in their actions. Lots of young adults DO go into relationships, all kinds, at that age With all that baggage, and still things turn out fine. Sometimes they turn out bad, and the person learns and realizes they had some unhealthy coping mechanisms (like numbing to their emotions and unsure how they even feel, tolerating people violating their boundaries, lashing out at others when hurt, running when emotionally vulnerable, clinging and acting controlling when emotionally vulnerable, etc could be a million things). And the person recognizes X, Y, Z went wrong and they’ll improve that area for the next relationships they have. And again and again. Until one day they have a friendship or romance or whatever, and X problem comes up again (like say running when they feel too emotionally vulnerable) and this time they communicate what’s going on, or the other person says they feel abandoned when it happens, and the two talk and because they communicate they get through that temporary reaction fine. They stay together. And wooh, isn’t that the goal! Being able to work through issues as they arise, and keep our relationships where everyone involved has their concerns addressed and feels heard and understood to the best ppl can understand each other. And eventually, people get Better at doing this as issues crop up. Eventually, when its a solvable issue this is the norm. And when its a serious incompatibility issue or someone is harming another, things end, and that’s better for all involved too.

So like. Fei Du? He’s an ordinary young adult with baggage he isn’t even aware of. And in real life, tons of people form all kinds of relationships while coming in at that level of awareness or less. And the thing is? For all that, in Silent Reading the relationship still goes okay. Because Luo Wenzhou is willing to ask questions and have conversations when he’s unsure of things. Because Fei Du does try to meet him halfway, does not leave (and he Does actually leave and run sometimes! and yeah, for some people that will end their relationship. That’s learning from one’s past actions to carry into the future. But Fei Du is lucky, and it doesn’t happen to end his relationship. And you know? some people in real life do get to keep their relationship after a few mistakes). My point is... its the trying. It all comes down to: are the people in the relationship trying? Are they trying their best to live up to the actions they promise, do they try to meet each other halfway, do they try to actively understand each other? When mistakes are made do they communicate and work on them. Real people aren’t perfect, they are always some degree of messes. That doesn’t mean good healthy relationships are impossible. That means people try and grow through their whole lives, and if a relationship works then both people are trying to do what’s healthy, trying to understand each other and trying to address their unhealthy coping mechanisms when they do crop up and affect things. And even with all that, sometimes things don’t work out. And that’s okay. You live and learn.

(And on a related note... I could definitely go in for ages on Tao Ran and his own unhealthy coping mechanisms and how interesting they are. How he can salvage a friendship but he self destructs any romantic relationships. How its a fear of dying on someone, abandoning someone, hurting someone, so he’d rather no one cared about him at all. How Silent Reading is very I think mature in how it shows the various kinds of people and how they Aren’t Perfect but they are trying... or not in Tao Ran’s case, and how people try and things turn out however they turn out. Like? Luo Wenzhou? Objectively he is probably Too Forgiving in a romantic relationship, and in all his relationships tbh as we see with Yang Xin. But he also sees Fei Du almost as a child to protect which makes his unconditional forgiveness come from a place we understand more, meanwhile for Fei Du... the level of his distancing means if it was anyone who Wasn’t so adamantly there for him, he’d let them go. And that’s not really healthy either, Fei Du’s frequent attempts to lash out and push Luo Wenzhou away to make him abandon Fei Du, to fulfill Fei Du’s own fears, another way to self sabotage good things in his own life and play out a reinforcement of his abandonment issues. My point is like... they do Some things i’d think could be dealbreakers in another relationship. I’d certainly run from a partner doing either Luo Wenzhou’s continuing to maintain a relationship even when boundaries crossed or communication refused or his partner pushes away and his controlling supervising nature, or Fei Du’s lashing out and pushing away. But in their world where one could be a killer, these extremes make sense for who they became, and in their specific dynamic you see why For Fei Du the controlling nature’s oddly a positive of Luo Wenzhou and makes LWZ appeal in an opposite way to what Fei Du fears, and why for Luo Wenzhou and his view of Fei Du as his responsibility like his own kid makes his unconditional forgiveness make sense for him. It’s this kind of nuanced exploration I like seeing. Real people aren’t always As messy as these two lol, but real people Are Imperfect and imperfect people can find ways to form good relationships. Because ultimately that’s what everyone alive is doing.)

A little warning regarding the idea of Earmuffs + Earplugs

Hi everyone, I just want to make a post in regards the use of both Earmuffs (Ear Protectors) and Earplugs at the same time. You may have an audio sensibility due to autism, and, someone may be unwilling to lower the volume or something, and you just can't do anything of your day with that sound on. For me, not only I have audio sensibility, but I have difficulty in focusing on things, and a weird phenomenon related to associating things that are completely unrelated, causing me to be scared in associating them in things I like to do. I'm in the process of trying to eliminate that association problem, however. For a long time in my life, I had to deal with very loud speakers coming close to me, and, I had nothing to do. Asking the person to lower the volume wouldn't resolve it (said person would turn off their phone speakers, and a couple hours later, turn on again in the same volume). Even worse, the audio was related to a topic that I particularly do not like, causing me anger whenever I was able to listen to. So, after searching a lot online and everything, I used to have an Earmuff + Earplug par to combat that noise, after I saw a couple websites regarding the idea of using both. Earmuffs:

However, one thing I want to point out is perhaps a potential danger in using both of them. I don't have any scientific proof or anything, but I remember back in the day when I used to wear both for longer periods of time, I would later have ear pain for the remaining of the day, and even last for a couple days after I wore them. Although nowadays this doesn't happen as much (that person turning on that specific topic that I don't like on high volume speakers), changes on my routine related to when to have dinner did change, and, I had one day where this was once again a problem, as the person was with the phone turned on with such topic. So I relied on the combo. But, now, a couple days later, I'm still having ear pain. I know that this pain eventually stops, as it has happened in the past and it did eventually stop hurting too. The pain is not that painful, but it is a little annoyance, paired with my usual audio sensibility, and other problems. The last year I mostly relied on noise-cancelling headphones (which is something that helped me a lot), but, due to the constant use, the cushions started to tear off, so right now I can't use them. I also wouldn't like to be dependent from them as much, as the person who basically made me purchase these finally stopped putting their smartphone at the highest volume with topics I did not like, even though sometimes it still happens. If you use this combo, the earmuff with earplugs, and you are wondering having ear pain and not knowing where it is from, maybe it comes from this. Although I understand it can be difficult to talk to someone in regards to our audio sensibilities, I think it's worth a shot to ask them to lower the volume as opposed to have to feel ear pain for a couple days later. This could be different from person to person, so, maybe you use these two all the time without feeling anything, but, I just wanted to point out, because before using them, I haven't seen any websites that mentioned the potential of ear pain from wearing both of them. My anxiety also makes things even worse, because I keep thinking that if I'm going to have ear-related problems in the future. So far, it seems that's not the case, but any sorta of pain, even the slightest one, can cause me to start thinking on the future and how maybe I will have to stop doing X, Y and Z, if I'm going to have health-related issues in regards to 1, 2 and 3, or if I will no longer be able to enjoy A, B and C. Lastly, if I also wear the earmuff (alone, without the earplugs) for a long time, I may feel dizziness as well. The noise-reduction headphone I mentioned is a BOSE QuietComfort 45 (QC45). I think it's a phenomenal headphone, especially for us with audio sensibilities. I do want to point out that, in the first days, I did feel a "piercing ear pain" from wearing them, but, that eventually stopped happening a couple weeks later. Stay safe everyone.

The present invention associates a group of agents with a set of caller conditions. These conditions may include dynamic changes in the position of the caller in the queue and the pool of available agents. It may also provide a caller with periodic updates on the expected wait time.

By providing accurate wait times, queue managers can improve the customer experience. Providing wait time estimates in queue management systems will reduce the average waiting time of customers. Customers will be able to judge their expectations of wait times based on realistic wait times, which will make them feel better. Furthermore, providing wait time estimates in queue management systems will decrease the abandonment rate of customers. And if a customer does not have to wait for hours, it can even improve their satisfaction levels.

synopsis: the fluff alphabet with kazuha

implied gn!reader but please let me know if there are any mistakes or things i should look out for when writing gn!reader, im still learning!! <3 NOT PROOFREAD its so long and im lazy :)

A- how affectionate are they with their s/o?

kazuha is a very affectionate person, and he doesn’t try to hide it. kazuha is known for his flowery words, while kazuha loves to turn all kinds of things into poetry, its painfully obvious when one is about you. kazuha never fails to show his affection and love to you with his words and endless haikus of you. he can not stop talking about you, and even though sometimes he does it to tease you and get a laugh at your flustered expression, every time he declares his undying love for you, he means it.

B- what their s/o does that takes their breath away?

there are many things you do that take his breath away, but one thing that makes his heart do backflips is when you remember his haikus, and keep his gifted poems. kazuha has dedicated too many of his poems to you to count, kazuha himself can barely remember all of them. so you can say he was very shocked when one night you randomly whispered a poem he created for you months ago into his ear. kazuha was beyond shocked, his head never turned so fast to look at you, eyes widening. when he asked how you still remembered it, you pulled out a little notebook with scribbles of the poems and pieces of paper stuck inside with notes of dates, and the occasional doodles. you said it was so you never forget any of them, even when you were old. as kazuha flipped through the book he noticed poems from as far back as when he barely knew you. kazuha turned back to you and buried his head in your neck, attempting to hide the blush on his face as he kept mumbling i love you. his heart was swooning with love and joy for you, he knew you loved him, but he never knew something as simple as that could make his whole world stop.

C- do they like cuddling? if so, how and when?

kazuha loves cuddling so much. kazuha is honestly pretty touch starved so he constantly craves your touch. kazuha also gets pretty tired after working a full day out on the alcor or helping out with the resistance. he believes after a full days worth of hard work nothing beats lazing around tangled in your arms. kazuha doesn’t mind being the big spoon or little spoon. there are times of vulnerability where kazuha just needs you to hold him close, run your fingers through his hair and tell him everything will be okay. and there are times where he wants to hold you tight in his embrace as if he was protecting you for the most malicious forces in the world. there are also times where he simply just wants to be close to you, bodies smushed together, his hands wrapped around you with his neck buried in your collar. he tries to make you laugh or giggle so he can feel the vibrations of your sweet voice. kazuha loves to cuddle you at night before bed, he loves to fall asleep with you, the sound of your heartbeat lulling him to sleep, the warmth of your body is so pleasant and inviting. however cuddling at night often means waking up much later than usual. it means that either beidou or gorou angrily barging into your quarters to wake you guys up because you both were late, threatening to split the both of you up since you can never wake up on time.

D- what do they dream of doing with their s/o?

kazuha is a simple man, he finds joy and love in the littlest things. but that doesn’t ever stop him for dreaming- or rather hoping. he wishes one day he can walk down the streets of his hometown and show you the different sights. he hopes that there will be a day when he can see you wear a kimono, under the moonlight as he takes you up to a secluded spot to view the beautiful fireworks, although he will argue that you are far more lovely. kazuha hopes to bring you to see the sakura trees bloom, as you talk about how you wished you could’ve have seen them earlier, he wishes he can brush off the flower petals on your head before pulling you in for a gentle kiss. most importantly kazuha hopes that one day, he can bring you to visit his friend. even if he no longer is blessed upon this world, kazuha is sure he would have loved you. it is only necessary for kazuha to introduce his beloved to his only family.

E- how much effort do they put into the relationship?

kazuha pours his entire soul into your relationship, you are the only one he has left after all. kazuha believes his sole purpose is to treat you like his queen, if even for a second you feel like you aren’t loved, then he has failed. kazuha wants to serve you, though you often tell him he should try to put himself first, he’d merely chuckle and say “if i’m the reason you smile as brightly as the sun, the reason you sleep well at night or the reason you wish to wake up the next day. then there is not a thing i would change.”

F - do they want to start a family with their s/o? what is parenting like with them?

after getting over kazuha's fear of marriage (check M), kazuha wouldn't mind starting a family. although he is perfectly fine if it is just the two of you. if you want children then he is ready to learn, for you. i think kazuha would settle with one or two children, and he says he doesn't mind if you have a girl or a boy- but he is hoping on a boy. kazuha would be a great dad, apart from the fact he travels a lot and is rarely home. he tries his best to be there for you, he usually takes on jobs in the area you are staying or go on shorter trips with the crux while you are in the first few years having a child. he doesn't want to leave all the work to you of raising a young child, nor does he want to miss out those precious years of being a new parent. he loves adventuring but he loves his family too. another thing kazuha can not get enough of is seeing the look on your child's face when he arrives back after a trip, waiting for him at the harbour, flailing their arms about to capture his attention. and he can not ignore the look on your face either, so happy that your loving husband is home. kazuha can be strict but he prefers not to be, he can't say no to those curious eyes that look just like yours. i like to think that kazuha teaches your child to be a smooth talker just like him, this means they both get out of trouble a lot with you. despite kazuha's aloof demeanour, he actually has a rather playful side to him often pulling small pranks with your child on you. he tells your child stories of all kinds of adventures he has been on, your heart swoons at the sight of your child resting atop his chest trying his best not to fall asleep due to the warmth kazuha radiates. kazuha teaches your child all about inazuma and his heritage, telling them about the history and how one day he will bring both them and you to visit his homeland. the safety of his family is his number one priority, he will do anything to protect you and your child. he also teaches your child how to fight, and most importantly self-defence. if you both are travellers though, you decide to wait until your child is older to bring them on your adventures. and when they are, beidou certainly doesn't mind having a little kid running around the alcor causing a ruckus amongst other crew members.

G- what kind of gifts to they give their s/o? do they want one in return?

kazuha has always loved the sentiment of crafting a handmade gift. the amount of time and effort that goes into making something, is enough to show how much love someone has for them. kazuha also always loves to imagine what kind of expression you’d have after receiving his gift, he never asks for anything in return, well actually occasionally he’ll ask for a kiss thats it. kazuha remembers making you a beautiful hairpin, one that matched with his maple leaf haori. he gave it to you one night randomly, his hands pushing aside a bit of your hair to pin up. the way your eyes closed as he inches closer, his fingers occasionally brushing against your skin. when he finally backed away from you to take a look at his masterpiece, he was stunned. the way your face glistened from under the moonlight, you were so ethereal. his breath hitched, and the calm man sitting in front of you became flustered. kazuha made a note to always mentally prepare himself before giving you a gift that you could physically wear- if not he’d definitely blow a fuse.

H- do they hug their s/o? how often?

kazuha definitely hugs you, but i feel like hugs only happen at specific times. of course he will indulge you if you ask for it. kazuha hugs you when he misses you, when he needs you close to him. if you didn’t travel with him, he hugs you a goodbye and a hello. kazuha hugs you tightly because he knows he will be leaving soon, or he misses you so much and never wants to let you go. if someone ever makes kazuha jealous (which doesn’t happen very often), he will hug you from your waist whilst no one was looking, as he buries his head into your neck, taking in your scent. “your mine.” he’d whisper, hugging you tighter. “i am yours.”

I- how romantic are they? do they have problems with being intimate?

kazuha has very little problems with intimacy, he is a naturally romantic person. the way he speaks should be more than enough as evidence. he doesn’t get flustered easily, and he loves to see your expressions when he does something overly romantic- cheesy even, at the most random times. his poetry and haikus are often of you, he doesn’t shy away from flirting with you, teasing you, and constantly he is thinking of different ways to show his love to you. like i said he never knows what may happen tomorrow, so he is going to spend every day in the present being romantic and loving to you.

J- do they get jealous easily? how do they act?

i can’t typically see kazuha as getting jealous easily. there is often the rare occasion of him getting impatient because someone else has held your attention for too long, but other than that its very rare for kazuha to get jealous- he trusts you too much and feels like there’s simply no need for such feelings. i feel like one of the only few times kazuha would get jealous is when he’s drunk. drunk kazuha is needy and clingy, he wants to be around no one but you. if there is the slightest bit of space between you two, kazuha is determined to get rid of it by any means necessary. if you’re having a conversation with someone, be prepared to continue it another day because kazuha is whisking you away and peppering you with kisses while glaring at the person who kept you away from him the whole time. it gets a little uncontrollable when it happens, but kazuha remembers everything that happens the night before and his reaction is absolutely priceless.

K- are they a good kisser? do they like it? how often?

kazuha is miraculously a great kisser, well that is debatable from the beginning since he didn’t have much experience but he learnt very fast, and he is an amazing learner. kazuha’s everyday kisses can range from many varieties. kazuha’s forehead kisses usually linger for just the right amount of time, they are comforting and homely. it feels like you can tell how much kazuha trusts and adores you when he gives you forehead kisses. kazuha’s cheek kisses are different. they are quick and fleeting, usually he peppers your face with them, instead of a single kiss. it is playful and often filled with laughter, kazuha does it with a teasing note as his hands cup your face and pulls you closer for another kiss attack. lastly kazuha’s kisses on your lips, saved for the most romantic and intimate moments you share. often hidden from the public where kazuha can show you how much he loves you without any interruptions. they are passionate and always leaves the both of you wanting for more. he kisses you not too rough not too gentle, just until your lips are slightly plump and red. he takes your cheek in his hand, his other on your waist, pulling you close he whispers “may i?” and if you allow him, he will make sure this is a kiss you never forget.

bonus: kisses on the back of your neck, saved for the most private moments. if you have longer hair he likes to brush your hair back and place a teasing kiss on your neck, just to see you get flustered. and if you have shorter hair he finds himself often staring at the back of your neck, and just decides to indulge himself a few times with a kiss- teasing you along the way.

L- when do they say i love you? how often? do they say or show it more?

kazuha has always been more of a mix of both, he tends to show his love a lot yet he never fails to let you know he loves you. kazuha says it when it is just the two of you, when he has your attention and he has yours. he says it while tangled in your arms, under the blankets as you try to fight the feeling of sleep so you can spend more time with your beloved. kazuha shows it in his actions, even if done unconsciously, he somehow manages to convey ‘i love you’. its evident in the way he smiles for you, his eyes glistening as he lets out a hearty laugh. its evident in the way he holds your hand, guiding you down the stairs- even though you are perfectly capable of walking on your own. it is evident in the way he stares at you while you patch him up after he got hurt again, listening to your mother-like nagging to be careful. he doesn’t always say it outright, but you know, you know he loves you.

M- thoughts on marriage? how do they want to hold the ceremony?

well kazuha definitely has thought about it, thats for sure. in all honesty he is a little intimidated by the idea of marriage. don’t get me wrong, he wants to get married to you, its just kazuha has an interesting past. he’s afraid that somehow even if he’s miles away from her, she’d end up coming back to haunt him, and this time take you too. kazuha also knows unlike others, he can’t offer you the most stable life. he fled from his own country, a god literally wants him dead. he wanders around without an end destination, no real home anymore. he wonders if you really want to get married to someone like him- this thoughts are the things that keep him awake at night. if you ever help kazuha get over his fears and make him understand you love him for who he is now, perhaps he wouldn’t hesitate before popping the question. he would love a quiet and small ceremony, he doesn’t mind a grand wedding but he would prefer something more lowkey and intimate. no distractions so he can take it all in, you finally are his.

N- what are dates like with them? how often do you guys have night outs?

dates aren’t as easy to come by with kazuha, working on the sea or with the resistance means work needs to be done and there isn’t much time for going out. but kazuha makes it work, most of the time its rather spontaneous. kazuha would appear before you and ask you to close your eyes, taking your hands in his to guide you to a little spot he made up on the alcor. hidden away from the drunkards causing a ruckus on deck. he sits you down next to him on a nice blanket and asks you to open your eyes. its a cute little get up, a few snacks and sake under the stars. kazuha would apologise for not being able to give you a proper date, yet you couldn’t ask for more. he’d pull you close saying he didn’t want you to get cold, and he’d teach you about stars and constellations.

another time while you both were working hard for the resistance, kazuha showed up by your tent at night and asked you to accompany for a walk. kazuha would take your hand in his, as he carried an umbrella over your heads. he wouldn’t bring you too far from camp but he tried to make your time worthwhile. he’d tell you about the poems he made of you the afternoon since he missed you the whole day. he’d promise to take you somewhere nicer once everything was under control again- he gives your hand a squeeze and kisses you on the cheek. it wasn’t much but it was all you both had. )

O- what would they do if their s/o got hurt or injured badly? (ouch)

it doesn’t matter how hurt you got, small or big, kazuha feels his world stop spinning. his mind flashes back to the moment he watched his friend die, and he desperately tries to keep his emotions at bay. tears threaten to spill, his voice cracks as he asks where you are. he gets to you as fast as he can, he begs that his legs don't give way yet. he blames himself for not being able to protect you, he couldn't save his friend, but please not you. the moment he catches the glimpse of your body bandaged up, bruises scattered all over skin, he can not contain the amount of guilt that rushes over himself. kazuha is by your side in an instant, taking your hand gently as he lets his eyes scan over your injury. he doesn't stop apologising, he lowers his head as he lets the waterworks run. ironically watching kazuha blame himself for not being able to protect you hurts more than the injuries you have sustained. if you can, please take him into your arms, tell him it's not his fault and you are okay. kazuha wouldn't know what to do if you were gone too.

P- are they playful in the relationship? how do they mess around with their s/o?

it may not look like it, but kazuha is rather playful. especially when it is just the two of you, kazuha suppresses the urge to not tease you. he can't help that you are just so easy to tease. he likes to challenge you to little games at the expense of a kiss. he loves seeing your expressions when he teases you, or purposely loses to you at a game. he also loves to flirt with you, tell you how much he loves you and how much he wants to make you his- even if you already are. he definitely is the type to ask you if your single and want to date him while you are dating, he says "your boyfriend doesn't need to know, so just come with me" and if you play along he falls more in love. it's also dangerous if your a ticklish person, he will often poke you just to hear your laugh or squeal. he craves to hear your melodic laugh, he never wants you to shut up. kazuha is never mean when he plays around with you though, he never crosses the line and he can read the mood well. he knows when is the right time to mess around with you, and he knows when to stop. as much as he loves it he never wants to make you mad. i

Q- what will they do if their s/o is queer or part of the LGBT community? how will they react?

kazuha doesn't mind, he believes that love is love and coincidentally he loves you for you. kazuha listens and is keen on learning your past and why you decides to be who you are now. he picks up on your prefered pronouns without hesitation and treats you with nothing but respect. if you are insecure about it, he will make it his only goal to write you a poem a day about how much he loves you and how much he wishes for you to find self love. kazuha is aware of the occasional disapproval from outsiders, and he doesn't think twice before using his vision to mess with them, knocking them off their balance or messing up their hair. he tells you that others may say what they want but you need not worry for there are many others who love you and will love you for the rest of their lives- him included.

R- how random and spontaneous is the relationship?

a relationship with kazuha is beyond random. there are moments when kazuha just grabs your hand and takes you away to some place because he wants to be with you. kazuha enjoys surprising you with things as well, if he sees something he thinks you will like, he will buy it or attempt to make it for you. when he travels he definitely brings you back pressed flowers or pretty gemstones that remind him of you. kazuha often does things for you on a "just because" basis, even if it holds no significant reason, he will give you a gift, give you a kiss or whatever you want. kazuha also randomly declares his love for you just because.

S- what do they do is their s/o is scared?

kazuha knows what its like to be scared, to feel petrified to the point its hard to breathe, hard to speak, hard to move. his world crumbles at the thought of how you may go through emotions like that. he never wants you to go through any pain, it simply doesn’t matter what causes you to feel so frightened. if it scares you, it scares you. there is no need for him to laugh at you or belittle your feelings. kazuha will never forgive himself if he makes you feel invalidated. when you are scared, kazuha will be by your side in an instant, his arms engulfing you like a warm blanket, as he whispers sweet nothings into you ear. he asks you to focus on his fingers tracing shapes onto your back. he doesn’t let go of you until he feel your heart rate return to normal. and when it does, he releases you from his tight grip to kiss away the tears rolling down your cheeks. giving you a simple smile. “my love, i wont let anything harm you. i love you.”

T- how much do they trust their s/o?

to be in a relationship means kazuha trusts you a lot. kazuha has gone through much, and is constantly on the run. there are few people he can open up to and trust that they would not leave him behind. it takes a while for kazuha to tell you about everything, don't get me wrong he knows he loves you but it isn't easy to bring something so dark about his past to light. he hopes you don't get mad or disturbed by him for keeping it hidden for so long. when he finally does tell you about his past, and you stick by him no matter what he feels his heart slowly gets put back into place.

U- do they like to take things slow or fast? (urgency)

kazuha takes things at a pretty average pace. honestly it's kind of like a write off, he knows it will take him a while to fully trust someone yet he is undoubtedly touch-starved. and when it comes to you he can't seem to hold himself back. when kazuha courts you its slow and relaxed, he never wants to force you into a relationship and make you uncomfortable. he takes his time to learn what you like and dislike, he takes his time to get to know you. and when you finally start dating he tends to take things faster, not too fast though, he makes sure everything he does is okay with you before rushing in head first. unconsciously he tends to touch you a lot, he finds comfort in your warmth. sometimes it's as simple as brushing your hair back, and sometimes it's having his hands on your thigh while you sit next to him. he just loves it so much.

V- how vocal are they about the relationship? do they want it to be a secret?

kazuha prefers to keep it lowkey. only a few people know of your relationship with him. he doesn't want you to get hurt because of him, after all he is rather infamous for escaping from the shogunate and their leader. he also is more on the private side. however its very easy to tell that kazuha is infatuated with you solely by the way he looks at you, talk of you. you can tell that he is completely smitten over you, it takes someone awfully dense to not realise his feelings for you.

W- random scenario with them! (wild card)

the first time kazuha saw you dressed up so beautifully was when beidou insisted that the both of you attended a party in liyue with her. he didn't enjoy parties as much but he thought it would be nice for you to take a break from running away, and if you were there he was sure it would be a lot more bearable. and he was right, it was. beidou had whisked you away earlier to be presentable for the occasion, kazuha himself had to wear something he wasn't used to- he thought it was uncomfortable. but the moment he saw you walk out of the room dressed to the nines, all the discomfort that came with his outfit was thrown out the window and replaced with fluster. kazuha was quick to regain his normal charm however, throwing compliments in your directions as he held out his arm for you to hold- yet not even his sly behaviour could escape your eyes, there indeed was a blush on his cheeks. beidou left the two of you to be, enjoying the food and lovely music playing in the background, yet all kazuha could hear was the melody of your voice. as the room fell silent and a slow tune began, kazuha earned a few nudges from beidou "ask them to dance" she whispered. and he did, it felt like it was straight out of a fairy tale. his eyes were burning into yours as he reached his hand out. you gladly accepted, but you never knew kazuha had learnt to dance, especially so well. you suppose everything about him is eloquent. the moment was something you'd cherish for the entirety of your life, the feeling of him guiding your footsteps along to his. his hands resting perfecting on your waist as yours did by his neck. he often made small jokes about the other stuck up guests, which made you laugh. his heart fluttered. as the song came to an end, you gave him a small kiss on his cheek. a smile appeared on his face, your action warming his chest.

"won't you dance with me again, my love?"

X- do they like petnames? do they use petnames? (XOXO)

kazuha loves using petnames on you. he likes to call you darling or my love. he finds using nicknames rather endearing, and he loves how you react with a simple "hm?" because you know he loves you like that. if you ever give kazuha a petname his heart swoons in adoration for you. he loves them! but kazuha also loves the way his name rolls off your tongue, the sound of your voice is like maple syrup in his ears.

Y- what do they do when they yearn for you?

missing you is something kazuha is unfortunately used to. given that kazuha is a traveller it is understandable why you two are often apart. when kazuha misses you, everyone can tell. especially since your absence in his life is all his poetry becomes. he muses how you are and how it hurts being so far from you. he often finds himself immersed in creating more haikus to show you when he finally reunites with you. more here.

Z- what is sleeping like with them? (zzz)

sleeping with kazuha is warm, you never have to fear the cold especially with kazuha's arms wrapped protectively around you. kazuha doesn't care whether he is the big spoon or small spoon, he just wants to be with you. if he spoons you, just make sure that he wakes up earlier than you if not he is never letting go. his grip is not too tight but still very strong around you. he enjoys being close to you and he loves how you let him be near you. if you are spooning him, please let kazuha rest his head in the crook of your neck. he loves to feel your heartbeat as he tries to fall asleep, the last thing he hears is your heart thumping every so peacefully. the smell of your soap puts him to sleep in a way he never knew it could. he loves how this time you wrap your arms around him to protect him instead, for once he feels like in your arms, he is perfectly safe.

So, one of the common RWBY AUs is the Royalty AU, where X-Y-Z character is a princess and thus, political and romantic drama. And I get the appeal, I do.

But guys.

Guys.

There’s more than just princesses. There’s an entire ranking system. There are multiple ranking systems. And there’s more than just the four kingdoms, too!

So, after some careful consideration, I have set about creating noble ranks and titles for various characters in RWBY, for the intent of more accurate fanfiction. Which isn’t likely to happen but you know, why not try. Here’s the ranks for this Royalty/Nobility AU.

Ruby Rose: Lady Ruby Rose, Countess Scion of Patch, Vassal to the kingdom of Vale. Because of outdated inheritance laws, Ruby’s actually of higher rank than Yang; Summer Rose is the previous Countess of Patch, and since Yang is not technically her blood child Ruby’s expected to take control when the time comes. Since the time has not come yet, Ruby is still only a scion of the house Rose. Ruby Rose would be addressed as ‘Your lordship’ or ‘Lady Ruby Rose’, and is one one of the lower-ranked nobles.

Weiss Schnee: Her Grace Weiss Schnee, Duchess Apparent of Gele, Vassal to the kingdom of Atlas. So, Nicholas Schnee came from Mantle and worked tirelessly to make the SDC, which means that the Schnee side of the family wouldn’t actually have much claim to royalty or nobility. But it’s not unheard of for old money to marry new money, for all the benefits it can grant. Weiss is a Duchess Apparent because the previous Duke has yet to pass on the title... because he’s Jacques. Duchess is technically the rank right below Princess--it’s not uncommon for Princesses who don’t become Queens to become Duchesses--and Weiss would be addressed as “Your Grace.”

Blake Belladonna: Tamahine a Kuo Kuana, Kaitiaki Tohunga o Menagerie, Blake Belladonna, Ariki Kaiārahi e Rapu. If my Google Translate and Wikipedia-fu is right, this roughly means “Daughter of Kuo Kuana, High Guardian of Menagerie, Blake Belladonna, Lord Guide who Searches.” That is admittedly a big if, and I apologize to the Maori and other polynesian peoples if I have butchered your language. Atlesian/Valish peoples might address her as ‘Your highness’, since she is roughly a princess, but her people would say ‘Tohunga Blake’ if being addressed in her role as knight/huntress, or ‘Ariki Kaiārahi Belladonna’ if being addressed in her role as diplomat or chieftain’s daughter. She doesn’t broadcast the fact, but in this hypothetical AU she’d probably have a lot of political capital.

Yang Xiao Long: Yang actually has two titles: Lady Yang Xiao Long, Viscountess of Patch, Vassal to the Kingdom of Vale... and Morza of the Branwen Tribe. For some pretty obvious reasons, she doesn’t like talking about that second one, even though it is strictly speaking way higher rank than the first--a princess equivalent. As the Viscountess of Patch, she’s technically number two to the Countess (Ruby), although at the moment she’s helping out the Count Regent (Taiyang). She would be addressed as ‘Your ladyship’ or ‘lady Xiao Long.’

Jaune Arc: Baronet Jaune Arc. Baronets are descended from Barons, but they aren’t really ‘nobles’ anymore. The days of the Arc family have long passed. But that doesn’t mean Jaune Arc is willing to let go of his heroic lineage! It’ll be a sign of character development when he starts calling himself ‘Esquire Jaune Arc’ instead, since that’s an indication he’s serving a knight (or a bunch of them, as the case may be). Address would also change, from ‘your excellency’ when he’s still trying to be a noble, to ‘Sir Arc’ when he’s decided to be a guardian. Rankwise it’s a demotion, but character-wise it’s growth.

Nora Valkyrie: Madame Nora Valkyrie, Knight Errant. Nora is apparently a commoner, though without knowing the full details of her parentage it’s possible she’s a lost noble or princess. Nevertheless, to play it safe everybody addresses her as ‘Madame Valkyrie’; it would be a major faux pas to address somebody as though they were of rank when, well, they aren’t.

Pyrrha Nikos: Her Excellency Pyrrha Nikos, Marchioness of Argus, Vassal to the kingdoms of Mistral and Atlas. Argus is in a weird position, politically speaking, since it has ties to two kingdoms; fortunately that hasn’t caused problems yet. Pyrrha’s also unusual, in that she’s not a born noble, but was elevated to her position through skill. This is why she’s addressed as ‘Your Excellency’ instead of ‘Your ladyship’, even though she’s strictly speaking of the same rank as Ruby Rose. She is probably not suited for the political pressure of her position just yet.

Lie Ren: Strictly speaking, Lie Ren would have been the Goshi of Kuroyuri, addressed as Ren-sama by the common folk. If, you know, he grew up to an age where he actually got to inherit his rank. I don’t know if he’d count as a Ronin, given how young he was when Kuroyuri fell. I think he’d go by Ren-san now, for the most part. (I also think Nora would work toward calling him Ren-chan no kimi, because she is that sort of person.)

Penny Polendina: Lord Defender Penny Polendina, Warden of Atlas, Kingsman to James Ironwood. Well, you know, until she defects in protest when the king starts calling himself ‘Imperitor Ironwood’ and just threatening to abandon entire cities to the Grimm... then she becomes Shieldbearer Penny Polendina, Champion of Mantle. And I mean, going from ‘Lord Defender’ to ‘Madam Protector’ is a pretty neat change of address.

Historically, medical research has often taken a one-size-fits-all approach, lumping women and men together despite growing evidence that the sexes differ in how they catch and fight disease.

A stark example was the heart drug digoxin, which was widely marketed in the late 1990s on the basis of a trial that showed it to be effective and safe. But over time a higher incidence of side-effects in women emerged. When the same dataset was analysed on the basis of sex, it showed digoxin decreased mortality in men – but increased mortality in women.

“Women are not just small men,” one expert said.

Covid-19 seems to be a case in point when it comes to differences between the sexes, with men thought to be up to twice as likely as women to die from the virus. But a new analysis suggests that scientists involved in the race to develop medical interventions for the coronavirus have paid little attention to these disparities.

In a still to be peer-reviewed study, researchers found that only 416 of the 2,484 Covid-19 clinical trials mention sex/gender as a recruitment criterion on the ClinicalTrials.gov database.

There had been just 11 original reports of randomised-controlled clinical trials published by journals in June, and none of the analyses was disaggregated by sex – although each study did report the number of female and male participants.

Some of those 11 studies evaluated hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), a decades-old malaria drug that initially generated buzz as a potential Covid-19 treatment.

HCQ causes heart rhythm side-effects that can be deadly, and the drug’s side-effects are known to be more prevalent in women, said study author Dr Sabine Oertelt-Prigione, chair of sex and gender-sensitive medicine at Radboud University in the Netherlands. If you don’t provide a sex-disaggregated analysis for a drug like this, she said, “what happens with all the potential new therapies?”

Mathias Wullum Nielsen, of the University of Copenhagen and an author of the latest analysis, said: “I think our study … suggests deeply ingrained norms that are difficult to change.”

While there is recognition today that women should be adequately represented in clinical trials, a series of birth defects and other problems resulting from foetal exposure to certain drugs between the 1940s and 1970s prompted scientists to initially exclude women and their foetuses, and later women of childbearing age, from clinical drug research.

Women were also seen as confounding test subjects, with their fluctuating hormonal levels, by researchers who generally believed that women and men would similarly respond to drugs. Eventually, Caucasian males came to be considered the “norm” population. Regulatory standards slowly shifted in favour of re-including women in trials by the 1990s.

But change came slowly, and even though researchers now typically maintain sex balance in trial recruitment, the final step of analysing data by sex does not always occur – with damning outcomes.

A 2001 study conducted by a government agency that holds US Congress to account found that of the 10 drugs that had been withdrawn from the US market since 1997, eight posed greater health risks for women than for men.

“The problem is, if you don’t do sex analysis – if males and females have very different responses – you could miss [accurate data on] everybody,” said Londa Schiebinger, a history of science professor at the University of Stanford.

Many funding agencies now require that scientists conduct sex analyses, as have some medical journals, while drug regulators are encouraging the practice. But until the exercise is enforced it appears the status quo will continue, experts said.

“People will promise anything if it allows them to either record the study or secure funding … but if it’s not being monitored, it doesn’t necessarily happen,” said Oertelt-Prigione.

“Women are not just small men. We have different hormones [levels], smaller kidneys and more fat tissue where drugs can accumulate,” said Dr Cara Tannenbaum, a scientific director at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. “There’s so many reasons why things can go wrong.”

When it comes to Covid-19, and infectious diseases in general, female immune systems are considered stronger, in part because they have two X chromosomes that are understood to shape immune responses, although environmental factors play key roles. There are other established physiological and anatomical differences that may also make women more susceptible to some drug-related risks.

It’s therefore imperative that scientists analyse data by sex, the experts stressed.

“It’s a new virus we’re dealing with … there’s a lot of open questions,” said Oertelt-Prigione.

“Especially in a situation like this, providing data can help move mountains, and it can help convince people who usually wouldn’t think that this is a priority.”

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

In the beginning, Katsuki’s affection will come out quite stubbornly and will be harder to see at times. Later on, it’s obvious how much he cares for you. His heart is full of love despite his aggressive attitude. He’s not afraid to show PDA, no matter who’s watching, and you’re often the recipient of his rare compliments. Katsuki is always ready to say “I love you”.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

That’s a tricky one. Befriending people isn’t exactly on Katuski’s radar, but he’d prefer someone who could “keep up with him” if so to speak. Reliable helps too. This friendship might start with him genuinely, although reluctantly, praising your quirk or skills.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

“This is fuckin’ stupid,” He’ll mumble as he wraps his strong arms around you, but he’s loving every minute of it. Katsuki’s down to snuggle in front of everyone, but if you’re the one initiating, he’ll be a tad bit embarrassed and no one dares point it out. When you two are completely alone you’ll get to see his softer side and you might even be the big spoon for once.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He’ll want to settle down in a sense that he needs to be sure that they’re his and he’s theirs. The method of doing so will depend on what’s best for both of you, but moving in together is probably in the cards. Katsuki makes a fantastic roommate because, among his many talents, cooking is one of them. He’s also a bit of a clean fanatic and you might wake up to him vacuuming or doing the dishes at 7 AM or something.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Firstly, he would fight tooth-and-nail against whatever was threatening the relationship because he’s not letting you go easily. If it absolutely came down to ending things, Katsuki would make it straight to the point and as quick as possible. He wouldn’t be able to remain ‘just friends’ with you and would never truly move on in his heart.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quickly would they want to get married?)

Katsuki is beyond committed and he firmly believes there are several ways to show it besides putting a ring on it. If you two were to eventually get married it would be later on so your careers could be focused on. He just wants you both to succeed and achieve your dreams more than anything, but if the marriage was something you really wanted, he might consider tying the knot earlier than previously planned.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Although I think Katsuki is actually a sensitive person, he can definitely be on the rough side of things. He can read and interpret others’ emotions, but relating to them can be a challenge. I don’t believe he’d ever act maliciously towards you or anyone else he cares for. He’s got a soft touch and even the occasional kind words during the most surprising times.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Katsuki’s a bigger fan of kisses, but he does love hugs! He’s always, well, touching you. Huge bear hugs. Squeezy. Warm. The type to literally lift you off of your feet. He’ll leave little tickling kisses on your neck and shoulders while whispering words against your skin.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

He’ll say the words in every possible way… besides actually saying the words. It’s like a mental block of Katsuki’s because he’s admittedly scared of proclaiming his love in such a straight-forward way. Once he gets over that first hump, it’s no problem for him. He won’t be throwing the words around like candy, but he’ll always say what’s on his mind.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Katsuki is emotional and jealousy is a familiar feeling for him. Being a bit of a hothead definitely doesn’t help either. This jealousy stems from his insecurities and can be overbearing. At the beginning of the relationship, it will probably be the cause of some arguments between you two. Later on, jealous Katsuki will just include him being extra pissy and extra cuddly.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Passionate. Always. If he’s kissing you, he’s going all the way. Even during your first kiss, he gave it his all. Sure, it was an awkward mess of spit and teeth, but he was eager and didn’t hesitate! Katsuki’s skills have improved by now and he never fails to showcase them. It doesn’t matter where, if he’s kissing you, then he’s happy. It depends on your preferences. And as for him… his neck is especially sensitive and he’ll never admit it.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Well, after the remedial lessons episode, we know he’s not very good. At all. Despite that, I can imagine him still wanting kids eventually. An “I can’t stand any kid except my own” type.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Katsuki is your typical morning person. He’s up at the same time every day and it amazes you. Well, unless you’re a morning person yourself, that is. If you’re a heavy sleeper then waking you up on time will be his new personal mission. He’ll probably make you a nice breakfast and get as many kisses as he can in before work.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Haha! This guy goes to bed at like 9-pm. He’s got a strict schedule and if you somehow manage to get him to stay up later to watch a movie with you or something, he’s gonna fall asleep on your lap and it’s adorable. It’s the perfect opportunity to play with his soft hair without having to hear him grumble about it the entire time.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

It’s going to take a while to break through his outer shell, but he’s not exactly secretive about his feelings and his past. Katsuki trusts you enough to be open with his mistakes and he won’t hide anything if you just ask.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

I think this one is a bit self-explanatory, but it’s not very often that he gets angry at you.He’s getting better at controlling his anger and you tend to bring out his gentler side too.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing or do they kind of forget everything?)

In the moment, it may seem like simply he brushes it off or doesn’t really acknowledge it, but that’s actually not the case. Katsuki always remembers and takes everything into consideration. The number of little things he keeps notes of might surprise.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

One Saturday afternoon, Katsuki decided he was going to try out a new chocolate cake recipe and you decided you’d try your hand at baking for once! He was absolutely willing to teach you and it was going well… until you somehow managed to drop an egg yolk right on Katsuki’s sock covered foot. His favorite pair of socks at that. The kitchen was quiet until he swifty flicked flour at your forehead and it was game-on from there. The next thirty minutes were filled with lots of flour and kisses.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Katsuki couldn’t be more protective of you and he’s more than willing to use his quirk if needed. He’s prepared to fight for you in the blink of an eye, no question about it. His job as a pro-hero means so much when you’re someone he has to protect, but he also knows it’s a mutual feeling. He completely believes in your own physical abilities to keep him safe and your reassuring words make him truly feel like the greatest.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He’s certainly not lazy when it comes to your relationship, but at the same time, Katsuki finds things like fancy dates and lavish gifts kinda pointless. He couldn’t care less about eating at an expensive restaurant, all that matters is that he’s with you. That’s not to say that he won’t give you nice things because he will be spoiling you, especially on anniversaries and holidays.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

His inferiority complex has always been his biggest enemy. There are times when he just can’t shut off his competitive side and it can turn things ugly when he lets his insecurities get the best of him. His temper is also something he’s struggled with and is still learning how to manage.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Katsuki really doesn’t care about that kind of thing. Of course, it does fuel his ego and boost his confidence when you compliment his looks. He considers himself to be an attractive person, but nothing too special. (You think differently)

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He likes to believe otherwise, but yeah, he really would. He couldn’t imagine a day without you. It’s just a scary thing for Katsuki to accept that he relies on someone other than himself for once.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He’ll never admit it, but spiders really freak him out. Let’s just say he won’t argue if you offer to take one outside.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Someone who gives up easily would just kinda irritate him. Katsuki knows people struggle, hell, he’s definitely one of them, but seeing someone simply not try and throw in the towel when things don’t go their way is something that would get on his nerves.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

He’s somehow got a cute snore. Yup. It’s not even really a snore, more like some kind of soft breathing noise, but it’s noticeable and something you’ve grown to love. It’s also difficult for Katsuki to fall asleep in places other than his own bed.

- Everything! But of course, Nagito admires your hope.

- Your eyes! He likes how much emotion they can show and how you look at him with eyes full of so much love and admiration.

C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)

- He likes to hold you! Since his luck took almost everything important to him, holding you makes him feel as though he's protecting you! It's as if holding you will make all the bad things his luck throws at him be directed ONLY at him, none towards you.

D = Dreams (how do they envision a future with you?)

- He'd like to be married to you and have a family! The thought of you two being married and having a child, maybe even children, is enough to make him turn into mush ♡

E = Everything ("you are my ______." ? eg. eveything, light, sunshine)

- As I said in the Dreams part, yes he would! He'd preferably want one after marriage.

- His self-depreciation went down! He still does it, of course, but not as much as before! He often does them as jokes now.

- Nagito tries out things that have to do with your talent! He finds it a way of getting to know you more.

J = Jealously (do they get jealous easily? how do they deal with it?)

- Nagito trusts you! He doesn't get jealous often. Then only times he actually does get jealous is when people lay moves on you or flirt with you. When those happen, he inserts himself between you and the one flirting with you, dropping very obvious hints that you are taken.

- If the person stops flirting, Nagito doesn't do any more things and just hugs you from behind. But if the person DOES continue to flirt, he blatantly tells them that you two are dating and that he'd appreciate if the person were to avoid flirting with you. Then he pulls you away and is a bit pouty and clingy.

K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)

- Softly! He is very gentle with you! His favorite kisses are forehead kisses! He certainly has the height for it.

- He also loves giving you a kiss when you two are eating ice cream. Gives him the "You had some on your lip, so I kissed it off" excuse. He loves the blush that appears on your face when he does it ♡

L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)

- Compliments! He loves to compliment you on, well, everything about you!

M = Memory (favorite memory together?)

- He cherishes all memories with you. So all of the memories he has with you are his favorites. He can't choose <3

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

- He is very afraid of losing you to his luck :(( he doesn't care if all bad luck he receives is directed towards himself, please don't leave him :(

O = On Cloud Nine (how are they like when they're in love? is it obvious?)

- Most certainly. He talks about how amazing you are to anyone willing to listen! Hearing your name is enough to get him smiling all day.

P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you and why?)

- He likes calling you Angel, My Hope, Dearest, and Blessing.

- He calls you Angel because he thinks you are one. My Hope because well, Nagito loves hope and he loves you! You're his hope. Dearest is something he got from a romance film you two watched together once and it just stuck to him. Blessing came from the fact that he thinks you are a Blessing given to him after all the stuff that has happened to him.

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)

- He loves to spend tim with you by doing literally anything! If he had to choose a favorite though, it'd be times where you two are cuddling and talking to each other about the future you two plan to have together.

- Allow him to talk about hope and how amazing you are. He will be very happy! Just be sure to do the same to him and tell him about how amazing HE is! It makes him very blushy and warm on the inside.

R = Romance (how romantic are they? are they cliché or creative?)

- Nagito is very romantic!

- He tries his best to be creative! One time, he left love poems all around his house where you were staying in. In each of the poems, he left a hint on where the next poem is, so basically, a poem scavenger hunt! At the end of the hunt, you received a promise ring and a kiss from a rather well-dressed Nagito.

S = Support (are they helping you with reaching your goals? do they support you? )

- Yes. 100% Y E S. Nagito will support you in anything you do and he will be sure to let you know that you're doing a great job!!

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

- It took about, 2 months at least. One month and few days were spent pining over you until Hajime told him that if he didn't confess, someone else could have you! Nagito didn't want that! So he spent a few weeks planning on how to confess and then wham you two got together.

U = Understanding (are they empathetic?)

- Yep yep! Nagito greatly accepts you telling him about your problems! He will give some advice, though he thinks they aren't that helpful due to them coming from him, but they help! He also empathizes with you!

V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)

- He's VERY proud. He can and will talk about you to to anyone who is willing to listen to his "1,000,000 reasons on why S/O is an amazing partner."

- If you didn't get the message above, yes he will show you off.

W = Wild Card (random headcanon)

- Nagito is quite clingy. When he requests for your affection and doesn't get it, he gets a teensy bit pouty and sad :( but then hug him after you're no longer busy and he's just ":D"

X = XOXO (are they very affectionate? do they love to kiss and cuddle?)

- Yes! Nagito is sure to give you all the love and affection in the world! You deserve it!

Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)

- He's quite nervous at first, but he pushes those thoughts aside and reassures himself that you will say yes. He first takes you to a fancy restaurant in which he booked a reservation a few weeks before the proposal. He then takes you to an open field where you two can stargaze. He calls your attention before giving you a speech that he had prepared in advance, and then finally asking the question.

- Due to his luck, things may go wrongly. So it may start raining before he even says his speech. Nagito is pretty upset, so when you notice this, you ask him what's wrong. He then tells you how his luck ruined a very important event for you and him, and then he brings out the ring he was going to propose to you with. He asks you the question, although glumly thinking that you'll say no due to what happened, but when you say yes, he's over the moon and he kisses you in the rain.

Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)

- Listening to your heartbeat. It reminds him that you are alive and that his luck has not taken you away from him.

- He also loves listening to your heartbeat after he gets you flustered. The pounding of your heart in your chest makes him giddy.

- If you two are married, looking at each other's rings makes him very happy. It reminds him that he's married to such an amazing person <3.

2. twisted

The cartoon that came out of the machine was pretty as a picture, perfect in almost every detail, and had a bubbly, positive personality. But she was not what Joey had wanted Susie to become. (Set in an AU where Joey gets perfect toons from his freshly killed employees and STILL isn’t happy, the unpleasable bitch…)

“Progress report to GENT home office, Client; Joey Drew Studios.

With the addition of the new ink recipe to use in the machine, we have made an unbelievable leap in progress and have almost met our client’s expectations. What had started as a machine to mold life sized figures out of ink has now done things that border on being supernatural.

Although Mr. Drew seems unimpressed, even frustrated with the results at times, in spite of the fact that the models have come out identical to their cartoon counterparts.

The process of running the cartoon film through the machine for the figures to imprint on has been successful, but it looks like that unless someone goes through the trouble of making a short that only has ONE character in it, the machine picks what character it makes at seemingly random. That is our client’s complaint; that instead of being user chosen, the machine picks out which living, breathing, thinking ink models it makes at random. Upon working on this, if I were to be in the client’s shoes, I’d have several valid complaints regarding the machine and the models it created, but our client’s complaint… Is that the machine that doesn’t have a system that allows the user to pick and choose which model it makes yet creates a physically flawless model every single time, does not allow the user to pick and choose which model it makes. He never ceases to infuriate me.

On a sour note, there was an incident with the figure in the likeness of a character called ‘The Brute’. Upon its creation, it immediately went and broke our client’s leg in a very… well, brutal fashion too. But fortunately, it has not physically attacked anyone since The Cameraman figure was made as we have threatened to separate them if it keeps up that behavior. It still likes to insult people, and it still does things that unnerve me though. We’re hoping that the rest of the figures will be less violent and or creepy.”

Thomas clicked off the recording and sighed as he looked at the newly made report, there was no way he could submit this to his boss without someone sending in someone to make sure he wasn’t huffing in ink fumes and whatever the Studio workers smoked to consider any of this to be normal.

“Hey Tommy! I think I figured out the issue with the machine! Or rather, its fuel.”

The mechanic grit his teeth and turned to face his client.

“What? I wasn’t aware that there was a problem with it.”

“Why, Tommy, how could you forget? I’m talking about the figure deposit problem of course! Why did we get The Brute when we wanted to get Boris? Why did we get Cameraman when we wanted Bendy? The answer was so simple, why, it was even staring at us the entire time!”

“Uh huh…” Thomas did not look convinced. “And what was this issue?”

“The ingredients, the Ink of course! You simply can’t put blueberry pancake batter in an oven and be surprised when you get blueberry pancakes instead of blueberry muffins, We got those two knuckleheads before we got the real stars of the show because the souls used to make them weren’t fit to make those two, but the machine still did what it does best: made living cartoons.”

Tom had an uneasy feeling in his gut as Joey grabbed his arm and led him to the Ink Machine’s room. He felt like a sheep being led to the slaughterhouse, he KNEW what went down in there! He knew the other ingredients, not well, per say, but for long enough to judge them and their characters.

He didn’t shed a single tear when Sammy was used in it, in fact, he was rather pleased with the results before it started acting out like that. He and the music director were almost always at each other’s throats for one reason or another. If you asked him, the ex-musician was strange, rude, clearly mentally unstable, and sometimes even cruel. And even if he wasn’t, his physical health had declined so much over his time at the studio that it was obvious that he would die regardless of whether or not he was put in the machine. Feeding Sammy to that machine was an act of mercy, really, and even if it wasn’t, it served him right to become a- err, The Brute and have him put the former musician in his place- put his villainous ways to a decent cause. Now if only someone could ensure for a fact that The Brute would behave...

Now the other ingredient, Norman Polk, was a different story. The man was old, weird and kinda creepy. On the surface, the man was an ideal candidate. Like Sammy, he would die anyway and nobody would miss him when he did. But on the contrary, he seemed like he still had some good years left in him. And while he was weird and creepy, he had been those things in an oddly endearing way that most of the studio had either liked or tolerated enough to not be bugged by it. The mechanic didn’t know how to explain it, that man reminded Tom of a mysterious, mostly-estranged relative that shows up out of nowhere and was always there for you even if you don’t always see him. So when the man snooped too much for his own good and had to be silenced… Tom could never look the resulting toon in the eye, or in his case, the lens.

But the mechanic couldn’t deny that it needed to be done, after all, the former projectionist was far too nosy for anyone’s sake. Nobody who knows the secret of the Ink Machine (or rather, it’s unconventional secret ingredient needed for its ink) should be free to wander the studio and spill the beans.

And a feeling in his gut was beginning to tell him that that was why he was the next on the chopping block.

He had built it, he learned what it would take to make it work, he had done what it took to make it work, and it was working now; No more models that would only move a tiny bit before collapsing into puddles! No more off model models! No more issues aside from x, y, z… -No more reasons for Joey to keep him alive when it was now too dangerous to his business…

A tiny voice at the back of his head told him it served him right. The creator of this unholy torture device would now be consumed by it, just like how the maker of the Brazen Bull was the first victim it claimed.

At this point, he was almost morbidly curious on who or what the machine would make him; would it poke fun at his past and make him that territorial junkyard guard, Canoodle? Would it ironically punish him for his greed by making him The Fat Cat of the show, Boswell Lotsobucks? Would it acknowledge that although he was a villain to the bitter end, he still tried to go clean only for demons to drag him back down his dark paths and make him into Charley? Thinking about it, any butcher gang member would be a good enough fit really.

He was a mix of relieved, disappointed, and horrified when he was brought into the room and saw the unconscious voice actress of Alice Angel strapped to a mobile operating table. Joey seemed to ignore his reaction as he proudly showed her off and began to monologue.

“Like Boris, Sammy was a musician, simple-minded, and was very loyal to those he considered friends until the bitter end. But what made Sammy more like the Brute then Boris- Aside from body type, obviously, was that Sammy had quite the short temper on him, one that got messed with often, and a tendency to hold onto a grudge that can’t be swayed away with a good meal or a bad joke… Just like our friend; the Brute.”

Tom stayed speechless as Joey continued his seemingly prepared and rehearsed speech.

“As for Bendy and Norman, well, it’s obvious that those too simply weren’t compatible in the slightest! Sure, they both have their mischievous sides, but that alone doesn’t make a man into a good imp… However, do you know who DOES have more in common with Mr. Polk? That’s right! A certain smart alec-someone who knows a thing or two about anyone, everyone, and everything whether he wants to or not. Someone with a darker, more jaded sense of humor than our little devil, someone who can lurk in the shadows, or in his case, ‘backstage’ for safety or to gather Intel, but be happy and proud to take the front stage when the need arises! ...Alright, I can see that Norman’s soul may have influenced the personality of our Cameraman, but at least he did it in ways that make sense to the character.”

The mechanic continued to stay silent as Joey continued.

“But the main point is: we know what to do to fix this little issue. If we want a main character, we need someone who embodies the soul of that character. And Ms. Campbell here said it herself; Alice is a part of her!”

“Joey…”

“Why, she’d be thanking us if she knew what was coming! This is a dream come true for her! She always seemed to be the happiest when she was singing our angel darling’s songs…”

As if he was snapped out of a trance, the mechanic pulled Joey to his face, gripping the animator’s arms tightly and shaking him up a bit.

“Joey! We can’t do this! Susie isn’t like Norman or Sammy. She’s young, healthy, and still has a lot to live for. Nobody would buy that she passed on from something out of the blue, or that she moved away without warning or telling anyone. Everyone in the studio loves her and talks to her frequently! If we do this, especially so soon, they will make the connection, and they will find out about this. It was bad enough when Norman went, imagine if someone as well loved as her went too!”

Joey just laughed and slapped Tom’s shoulder.

“Oh Tommy, all we need to tell them is that Susie got her big break and is Bringing Alice to life in ways never before seen! And to sell the illusion, also tell them ‘you know how those folks in Hollywood are with their schedules, always a bunch of busy bees.’ They’ll bite, you just have to trust me.”

“What if they don’t?” the mechanic argued. “What if they start snooping around and start to piece together what really happened to her?”

Joey’s smile wavered a bit, but remained steadfast.

“Well, we’ll just have to cross that bridge when we reach it. And when we do, we’ll have our answer!”

“Nnnnggghhh…”

Both of them shuddered when they heard the voice actress start to stir awake.

“I swore I used stronger stuff in her drink…”

“...Jo...Joey..? ..Mr. Conner..?” The voice actress’s real eye widened in horror as she looked around, and her voice wavered as she grew more and more frantic. “WHat’s going on?! Where am I- Why am I tied up?!”

“S-Susie! Everything’s perfectly fine my dear, you just need to calm down a bit and I’ll explain everything…” He subtly jabbed Thomas in the ribs with his elbow. “Tommy!” He hissed “Throw her in the machine already!”

The frightened voice actress began to struggle against her restraints while Tom hesitated. Joey shot him a glare as he strolled up behind Susie and put a ‘reassuring’ hand on the weeping angel’s shoulder.

“Joey, please… let me go… Don’t do this to me!” Tears were running down the woman’s face, her voice was soft and breaking from her stress. “Just let me go and I promise I won’t tell anyone…”

“Now, now, Susie, there’s nothing to worry about, yes I know this looks unsettling from your position… But you and Alice are going places, new, big places that most people only dream of seeing! You’re going to bring her to life in ways that will touch the hearts of generations!”

A flash of realization crossed her face.

“Joey… answer me this: when Sammy ‘died from untreated lung cancer’ did he actually die from lung cancer? And when Norman ‘died from a workplace injury’ did he really…?” her voice trailed off a bit with uncertainty before asking her third question. “Did their deaths have anything to do with those two toons that showed up?!”

Her questions were not answered by words, but with actions as the two men stuffed her into the machine. When it turned on, her screams echoed throughout the mostly empty studio, chilling all who heard them to the very bone.

When they finally stopped, the machine whirred and roared to life and Joey rubbed his hands together in glee as he watched the machine work its magic.

Thomas, on the other hand, stood in silence while staring at his hands as dread and guilt sank in his gut.

The former man’s smile fell into a look of confusion when he saw a pair of gloves with ‘X’ marks on them come out, followed by arms that connected to them. That look of confusion fell deeper into a frown when he saw the arms stretch, curl, and twist when the gloves reached the floor as if they were streams of ice cream coming out of the machine at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Alice didn’t have arms that curled and stretched, but Joey knew a certain demoness toon who did; Miss Twisted. He was cursing under his breath, of course it would complete their little trio before giving him what he wanted! Now he wasted his one shot at getting Alice!

The rest of the toon didn’t even get out of the damn machine, it was like she was taunting him by continuing to stretch her arms and let them continue to coil in piles on the floor instead of showing him the finished product.

Furious, he marched over and grabbed the toon demoness’s arms and yanked her out of the damn machine.

“Stop messing around!” He scolded before pausing and reapplying his signature smile. “Your friends Brute and Cameraman have been worried sick about you ever since their creation! You wouldn’t want to keep them waiting for you any longer than they’ve already been, right?”

He could’ve been imagining it, but he swore that she had a look of pure terror on her face before she put on a fake smile of her own. And was it just him, or was this Miss Twisted’s left eye slightly discolored, glassy looking, if that made sense for someone with pitch black pie-cut eyes. The grayer eye she had reminded him of Susie Campbell’s fake eye.

“Y-yeah! You’re right!” She pushed Joey out of her face, clearly uncomfortable by his staring but pretending to be perfectly fine. “I can’t keep my boys waiting for too long, who knows what they’ll do?” She chuckled nervously. “So… where are you keeping them? where are they hiding?”

“Tommy here will be happy to show you, just follow him and-”

“Thanks!”

The demoness chipperly chirped and swiftly yanked Thomas out of the room at a speed that almost insulted the man.

Riven x Musa

Ok, so I keep seeing posts everywhere that basically badmouth S8 and after seeing ten seconds of the trailer (YIKES to the animation, what’s wrong with the industry that they are making everything anime? Powerpuff Gen Z, I’m looking at you – obs: I didn’t watch it fully yet) I can see where some of the criticism is coming from but anyways…

My favorite Winx!couple EVER has always been Musa x Riven since I was kid and first watched the show (Netflix is not helping ‘cause I ship them even there).

I remember yawning at Bloom/Sky, rolling my eyes at Stella/Brandom and making a completely incredulous expression that I could literally feel forming on my face at Helia/Flora (can anyone say ‘unrealistic’?). Timmy/Tecna are a second favorite.

And why my Winx OTP are Riven x Musa followed after Timmy x Tecna? Because it reflects real life. In real life you’re not gonna stumble into people whose real and deep relationship problems are solved in twenty four minutes (not even that considering that some episodes present the “problem” half-way through said 24 minute-episode).

The breakup between Riven and Musa in S6 (spoilers everywhere after all) was one of the most mature breakups in the history of breakups with the hope for the future (yes, I’m completely ignoring S7, sue me, the whole thing was one huge filler anyways). And, after reading a lot of opinions on both ends (defending Musa/attacking Riven and defending Riven/attacking Musa) and watching the episodes in question (reuniting through reconciling) I think I can give my own analysis.

Since Musa AND Riven (individually and as couple) are my favorite characters in Winx, I think I CAN give a fairly unbiased view (hopefully).

*clears throat*

Ok, keep in mind that I’m defending BOTH of them, because I ship them too hard not to.

Musa Being OC (sometimes being called ‘brat’): C'mon, people! Musa and Tecna are OC since S4 anyways, where are the tomboy and the nerd? With the sneakers, T-shirt and comfortable-looking clothes? Noooo, now they all need neat skirts and hot pink high heels and long, glamorous hair. Do they look good? Of course, but and I would totally be less pissed if there was ANY indication on the reason for the change. Are they just maturing? Expressing themselves differently? Crowd mentality? Tune and Stella finally broke Musa down and Tecna followed soon after? Was it just to please Riven and Timmy? ANYTHING (even the 'pleasing a boy’ would at least be A reason - a ridiculous one that would piss me off, but A reason none the less), was just a sudden impulse that took?

Sure, we can talk about “character growth” until we are blue in the face, but the matter of the fact is that there was none.

The changes we see in Musa and Tecna are basically the creators making them more like the rest of the Winx (I’m including Aisha in this too, where is the sporty girl that matched the boy’s interest in extreme sports? C'mon! Even Bloom and her Girl Next Door looks are replaced with Bratz and Clueless-level of outfits).

Is anyone really going to look me in the eye and say Stella wasn’t a shallow (if friendly and good-natured) Mean Girl? She got better, but as I re-watch the show (currently in S3, meaning almost half-way through the content), Stella still worries more about her hair than anything else even while under literal fire.

More and more, Musa, Tecna and Aisha are losing their identities and what made them, IMO, the more badass Winx.

How did the two on the left went from this…

… to this:

Yeah, yeah, Musa still sings, Tecna still technobabble and Aisha is still a Warrior Princess but Aisha was the first one to go Bloom and Stella on us with Musa and then Tecna following soon after. It’s not just their clothing style, it’s the way they carried themselves too.

Right now? The only thing keeping them apart is their BF blues (different kind of blues) and some personal interests (singing, shopping, tech, the whole drama with Domino/Sparks, etc). But that’s IT, their personalities are going down the drain!

Sorry for the long-winded text, but the reason I’m expressing my disappointment at their change is because Musa’s reaction fits it. S6 we have such an AMAZING breakup (didn’t even think that was possible, WTH, right? Amazing breakup?) only for her to be mad as hell at Riven at S8? Bad writing, that has been dragging her (and the rest of the Winx) down to becoming just one unilateral, shallow character (the Specialists are also falling into that pit, what in the world did they do Helia in S8? He sounds like Thor telling about his “brave exploits” there, yikes). And continuity what? What continuity? Do they even remember how the breakup was written?

But ok, let’s put the Audience View aside for a moment and focus only on the In-Universe terms.

S6: You’ll always be my hero.

S8: What on EARTH are you doing here.

I laughed a bit, the contrast just got to me but instead of getting mad at one or the other like most of the fandom, I laughed.

Musa followed that by saying that Riven has not maintained contact and just in that I would be beyond pissed as well and giving my support to Musa. WTH, Riven? I think that each season is more less six months to a year? Sort of? Still, zero contact for so long even after ending on amicable terms and wanting to stay friends? And he went off on his own! A text now going, “I’m not dead” would be the bare basics for Musa not to worry herself bald!

BUT then I also read comments about how this was a two-way street, why didn’t Musa call either? That’s unfortunately something that I very much doubt will ever be explained. One of those: did it or didn’t it? Musa could have called and went straight to voicemail with no signs of life from Riven or she might not have called and just expected him to call as if feminism were dead and all initiative must come from the guy (which doesn’t even fit because they parted as friends).

Since we have no info on the above, I put it on both of them. It’s not fair to say, “HE should have called!” or “Why didn’t SHE call?” because we don’t have fricking context. So the only thing we can take is: no contact.

BECAUSE I put the lack of contact on both of them, Musa’s reaction was a little too much, however, Riven shows up all smirks and leaning against a tree with his arms crossed and I would have flashbacks to S1 if it wasn’t for the animation style that made all the guys look like girls. Dude! Not the time for that kind of posture. Not saying that he should be all sheepish and rubbing his arm as if he had done something horrible (again: we don’t have context on the no contact) but a more neutral approach was warranted here. Nobody does themselves any favors with that kind of attitude no matter what how high of a horse they may be (rightly or not) riding on, if anything I would react like Musa solely on that one.

Next episode we have that Riven convinced the guys to follow the girls in some mission and Musa was angry. Again: I would be too. WTH? Yes, yes, they helped and if it wasn’t for them, the Winx would gotten seriously injured but Musa did have a point saying that this demonstrated that they had no trust in them and need their hand held, it was no sanctioned mission like on Earth after all. BUT, Riven does something that I would never expect from in S1-4: he explains, he reasons it, he puts it in all the words that he does trust Musa and co and that he only wanted to show that he’d be there for her (you know? One of the main issues in S6 that made them breakup in the first place? His inability to conciliate Specialist work with supporting his girlfriend and ultimately failing or feeling like failing in both?) and Musa still pouts, crosses her arms, and turns around. Geez. I expected that one from Stella, not Musa. I think the closest Musa has ever come to THIS was back in S2 when Jared explains that Riven was the one to recommend that he interview Musa and yada yada yada and she got mad and stomped off on the poor guy that didn’t even understand what was going on (only to immediately apologize to Jared and recognizing that it wasn’t him that she was mad at… like I said: what character growth?).

Riven then goes to show that he indeed grew when he asked for advice from Sky and Brandon (WTH, right? Can we picture that happening back in S1-3? He very grudgingly would LISTEN to UNSOLICITED advice from Nabu and Helia in S4-6). And does a very, very goofy and embarrassing show of affection. Yeah… again… I can picture Stella loving the light show with her face for IDK how many people to see but not Musa (although can we really blame the guy after the series went out of its way to make Musa all Stella-like? Clothes, attitude, the only thing missing is making Riven carry her shopping bags around and call him “Shnookums” (although the mental image is already enough for me to fall over laughing, just for the face Riven would make). Still, I have to count that one against Riven if only because (as much as the show gives only lip service to it) Musa isn’t Stella.

Riven being mind controlled (again) aside, those two are back together. And on the overall? Riven showed more growth than any other character in the show COMBINED (he is the Zuko of the show), that doesn’t go to say that he didn’t make mistakes since coming back in S8 (but that was more a guy trying to win back a girl than… betraying his friends for a pair of nice legs or… IDEK like in S1 – where, mind control or not the show itself made sure to make it clear that he had free will) or that he is now the one out of Musa’s league. I think that NOW it can actually work… if the show allows him to keep the progress, Musa is the next to see her flaws and work on them (which she showed to be able to do since S2) and put effort in the relationship. The difference between them is that Musa can actually work on herself and the relationship at the same time. That’s not me saying she is better than Riven in any way, everybody has their own pace and their own way to cope, to improve and to self-reflect.

I still root for them.

PS-IDK why, but I read posts about how Riven changed so much and posts about how all his progress disappeared and he is now back to his S1 attitude and I’m just cofused. Yeah, different of opinions and so on, but such opposite opinions on the subject of a guy whose relationship was focused on three episodes?

Obi-Wan likes do yoga and meditating with you. It’s how he feels one with the force, and even though you may or may not feel the force as deeply as he does, he likes being able to share those moments with you and help you find your own inner balance.

He’s very hesitant. He doesn’t want to get too attached because of the code. At first it’s very clear that if he had to choose, he wouldn’t choose you, but that slowly starts to change throughout the relationship, mainly because of a fight where you complained that he wasn’t giving it his all and he realized that you were right. Then you asked if he really wanted to do this and he said yes and since then he’s been all in.

Obi-Wan works surprisingly well under pressure. If someone gets hurt, he’s doing very well at keeping himself in check, although on the inside he’s breaking. He’s trying to be strong for you.

If you’re out super late, he stays up to wait for you. He looks like a dad waiting for their teenaged daughter to get home with his glasses sliding down his nose as he reads, but he’s not mad. He just can’t sleep until he knows you’re home safe.

He likes to write letters and poems. Sometimes he’ll write them in different languages so that you also get a puzzle to figure out. He likes to get homemade things. It shows that thought went into it, and you’re giving him a little piece of you.

I’m very big on him giving a lot to charity. The rest would probably go into savings because he’s practical. He just doesn’t know what to do with all of it, though. He’s used to a simple life.

Love. He loves deeply, despite the rules on attachment. It can blind him into being too trusting and missing warning signs.

Also, he’s ticklish.

L- Laughter (What makes them laugh?)

Wordplay. He pretends to hate puns and witty retorts, but they always make him chuckle. Also, when you’re trying to make dinner and you get distracted so it goes up in smoke and you end up needing to order take out. Because, you tried so hard and it was so cute.

It depends. If he has to wake up at the crack of dawn, he’s cranky until he gets caffeine. If he’s well rested then he’s fine.

He’s needy after hard missions when he looses a lot of men. He’ll just wordlessly come home and hold you close as a reminder that not all is lost.

Definitely not Tatooine. He’d go wherever you are. But, for a physical place, he’d probably go to the Temple. It’s his home.

Oh he’s very much “Oh, I’m fine” as he’s bleeding out. He sucks it up like a trooper because he doesn’t want anyone to worry. However, when you’re in pain he is fawning all over you and telling you to take it easy.

“Come what may, I will love you til my dying day.”

R- Reunion (How do they celebrate seeing you after a long time of being apart)

Oh, in private, he’s running to hug you and hold you close, and then he’s picking you up and you’re heading to the bedroom.

S- Stress (What stresses them out? How do deal with stress and how do they relieve it?)

The amount of loss that he faces on a daily basis stresses him out. The fact that he’s very much never gotten over his grief for others, so he’s worried about seeing something and being brought back to Qui-Gon and not being able to get over it. He meditates.

T- Terror (What are they afraid of?)

Losing everyone he loves. His heart can take a lot, but it feels like the universe keeps taking.

U- Unique (What is a quirk that is unique to them?)

He’s very good with animals.

V- Violence (Do they fight a lot? Are they a good fighter? What is their fighting style?)

He doesn’t fight a lot if he’s not on a mission. He definitely prefers to use fighting as a last resort.

W- Wow (What do you do that really surprises them? What do you do that they really like?)

Massages. When he first got one, he was very hesitant, but then he was putty in your hands.

Parasocial connections are okay, calm down

I will go against the grain here but I don't see anything wrong with parasocial relationships. I keep seeing these posts on social media how a creator is not your friend, and how some of you are terrified of being yourself on social media, and I feel we are seeing this parasocial commitment all wrong.

For one it's normal for humans to form bonds bc it's a biological instinct that aids survival. And I suppose history has shown bonds are not formed only on the basis of everyday interactions; we do feel connected to our favorite football team, or our country of birth, or our fandom, in a way we are forming parasocial connections with an idea.

This freakout (although with basis since stalkers exist) irritates me bc I've been on the end of both the follower and content creator. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what parasocial connections mean but I think they're healthy and not abnormal and something we need to survive.

When reading books from writers or scientist I like I really felt something akin to understanding. Maybe not a close friend kind of relationship but a friend in the sense that this person is here doing their best to tell or teach you something. Especially if it's someone you grow to trust, you assume that they are not trying to deceive you, and are doing what they can to help... Perhaps are parasocial umbilical cord is not the problem, but our definition of friend.

It comes down to what kind of friend is this or to you. Not everyone out there is your close friend: someone you go to for personal problems and call at 3am if needed. Sometimes someone is your writing workshop friend; a friend in as much as you trust they won't steal your idea and will provide honest feedback. A creator, say an artist can be a friend in the sense that they provide escapism, or honest work that they show to you. If you say it's wrong to feel attached to a creator for their work even if you don't know them personally, it's like saying don't be sad if something happens to them. Although in this case you probably are friends with the creator's creative output and not the person.

Another thing is that a friend should not be someone who is always right and pure. If you think a creator should be beyond criticism or perform like a dancing monkey you probably have issues with friendships irl. You have to be willing to accept people as they are, faults and all. You also can't force people to be the way you want them to be.

With regards to creators that go I am not your friend. First of, bold of you to assume I want to be your friend. But second of, if not a friend that what are you? If you think about it, why do you trust a creator to do honest work on their commissions? To deliver the merch if you pay? Isn't it partially parasocial in that based on their social media slice of personality you have come to have some parasocial trust in this person you have never met?

In conclusion, it's not creepy to see a creator as your friend. But diversify what your friends mean. Some are friends you rarely see, but when you do you know you would die together for cause X. Some you know that when they give their idea on art or science you can trust they are being honest. I feel the same applies to online creators. They could be your friend, but not in the way you want (friendship has to be two-way). There are writers on tumblr that are friends in that they will answer your questions without making you feel stupid for asking--their humanity and patience makes them a friend. Others will never answer asks, but they could be a friend in that you can learn from their art or writing, just by observing.

Yes, there are crazy people out there that don't realize that someone has boundaries, but I wonder if they would cross those boundaries with actual irl friends as well. In fact, people that clutch their pearls at creators that disappoint them would do well seeing a creator as a friend, bc friends disappoint and friends have boundaries. I feel they see these creators as either role models or some sort of personal entertainer, like the creator owes them something. I don't think it's wrong to want to be close to someone you admire, but in these cases it's more like you can't conceive someone can be different from you. And you can angry when a person turns out to challenge your worldview. For example, how can a kind person also be "problematic"? And so on.

Anyways, I hope I could be a friend to people, in as much as I can do as a friend. Probably one of those friends that aren't around much, but you can come consult from time to time and they will be honest in what they tell you. And you can trust that honesty. And if that's the parasocial connection people form, so be it. I'm sure it can help some to feel another person cares or understands them to some extent, even if not intimate. I feel why parasocial connection is so prevalent, when we feel someone moves our heart we do feel some sort of connection.

But some of you act so entitled or freak out too easily, and forget that while you may not care to friend X, Y, Z; you have been that X, Y, Z for another creator you admired. You shouldn't have to be the person you don't want to be, but condemned others for the behavior you also exhibit (bc surprise, it's human!) it's hypocritical at worst, or hysterical at best.

Calm down, not everyone wants to be your friend in the way you think they want to be. You are not that important. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with someone considering you a friend. To them you are important enough they feel they can trust to some extent.
