#Someone said they dislocated their knee

After reading about it, I’ve decide the Twitch Intel Foam Pit has dethroned the dashcon ballpit.
The dashcon ballpit was just kinda awkward. But still a fun little nerd idea.
The Twitch Intel Foam Pit is seriously injuring people. A back broken in two places. And a host of damaged ankles, knees, wrists, and shoulders.
The Twitch Intel Foam Pit was borne entirely of marketers chasing twitter trends, and was guaranteed to hurt someone the second they decided loose foam cuboids were a viable replacement for all other forms of padding.
For reference, those cuboid pits you see in the big gymnasiums are actually built to code. And that code says you have sixty inches minimum between the floor and the top of the trampoline frame before you add a single cuboid. Because the cuboids aren’t actually padding. They’re just fun.
Tumblr media
Intel just got some interns to dump a buncha cuboids in an enclosure and called it good.
I'd call it a clown show, but clowns actually have extremely rigorous safety standards and are highly trained professionals.

breaking rules mr. hotchner?- a.hotchner
a/n: i didn't imagine a fem! or male! reader so imagine what you want :)
summary: what happens when both aaron and you have to train together?
pairings: aaronhotchner x reader, platonicbauteam x reader
warnings: kissing, tension, workplace relationship, age gap, i think that's all :)
Tumblr media
“Team training sessions, all weekend! If you can’t make it, you’ll need to make it up,” Strauss’s email made your face fall. You would be away all weekend with your sister's wedding.
“Anyone else not making the team training?” you asked, hoping you wouldn’t be stuck with someone from another department. The entire bullpen seemed to be able to make the training and a groan made its way out of your mouth.
“Maybe Hotch will be missing it, I think he has Jack this weekend,” Rossi smirked, a knowing look on his face. A look you badly wanted to remove, forcefully. You shot him a fake smile that made him laugh as you walked up the stairs to Hotch’s office. Everyone in the office seemed to have picked up on the weird energy between you two. His gaze always defaulted to yours, in the field he was extra protective of you, and any and all fleeting and seemingly innocent touches made your skin feel like it was on fire.
You knocked politely on the open door and he hummed in response. You walked in and his eyes were immediately glued to you as you stood in front of him. He was obviously an authoritative figure, he was your boss after all, but conversations with him always had an underlying ease and equality to them.
“Is everything alright?” He asked after a short moment.
“Yes, I just wanted to let you know that I can’t make the training weekend, I’m at my sister’s wedding,” you explained quickly. “Sorry for the inconvenience. I’m sure there’s others that’ll have to make it up too-”
“I will too,” he stood from his desk, files in his hands. “How about we get ahead of it and do a few hours in the gym? You don’t have anywhere to be tonight, do you?” He asked so casually that the heat creeping up your spine seemed ridiculous.
“That sounds fine,” You confirmed.
“Good. See you tonight then.”
You took one step outside his office and you were met with stares from all of your co-workers. “He’s missing it too.”
“Looks like dad is getting some action tonight-” Derrick started but you hit him on the back of the head, silencing his words as the rest of the team laughed. All you could do was wait for tonight.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were on time to the office gym. It was already set up for the weekend training sessions and a wide array of mats were on the floor. You noticed Aaron sitting on a bench across the hall, a navy shirt that hugged his biceps perfectly and gym shorts that ended at his knee.
“Hi,” You smiled from across the hall, your own gym clothes adorning your body.
“Hi,” he smiled back.
“I asked Spencer about what they were covering and he said just general hand-to-hand combat and practising taking a subject down so… what do you want to start with?” You asked, beginning to stretch your muscles softly. You felt his eyes lingering on you as you stretched and a shiver ran down your spine.
“Whatever you think,” he stated, the remnants of a smirk on his lips. He must know what kind of effect he has on you, right?
“Well, maybe just some hand-to-hand, I don’t really want to pop my shoulder out of place again,” you joked, a memory from the last training day you had attended. Derrick had gotten a bit too strong and dislocated your shoulder, meaning Spencer was forced to pop it back into place with Jj and Aaron’s help.
“Makes sense,” he smiled, a certain mysterious dampening in his usual bright smile. “You come at me, go for my waist,” he ordered.
“Your waist?” You questioned, preparing your stance regardless.
“My gun,” he explained, preparing himself for contact.
“Oh,” Was what you got out before you lunged forward to his waist, after a long back and forth, punches and dodges and the small smirks or grunts he continued making made you practically dizzy, until you pinned him under you, a smirk on your lips. His hands rested on your waist, both of your breaths heavily with the strenuous activity, and the tension in the air. He reached up and brushed some hair out of your face, and that was all it took.
He grabbed your face, pulled you down and kissed you. His other hand held your waist in an almost bruising grip. You had gasped when your lips first made contact and he used that as an excuse to push his tongue into your mouth, deepening the kiss. Your hands found grip on the sides of his face, some moving back to pull on his soft hair. He had sat up, the hand that had been on your cheek moved to hold the both of you up but he never broke the kiss. His hand on your waist squeezed harder as his tongue explored your mouth, an evident smirk on his preoccupied lips. You pulled away, desperate for breath. As you caught your breath, Aaron’s hand dropped from your body and rested on the mat.
“I’m sorry. That wasn’t right, we shouldn’t have done that. I’m very sorry if you felt pressured into-“ he started apologising but you cut him off with another passionate kiss. Your hands wrapped around his neck and his hands wrapped around your torso as you deepened the kiss. He groaned into your mouth as you bit his lower lip softly, not enough to draw blood, but enough to warrant a reaction. He pulled away, an uncertain mystery playing behind his beautiful eyes.
“You’re surprising,” he had a soft smile on his lips while his hands ran up and down your sides.
“How so?” You smiled, your hands messing with his black hair.
“Well, you just kissed your boss-“ he joked, and you cut him off with a push to the chest. He laughed as he fell back, hitting the soft mat.
“Shut up,” you groaned. “You kissed me first!”
“That I did,” he admitted, “which we should probably talk about.”
You nodded in agreement and allowed him to go first.
“I have a romantic interest in you, and it’s fine if it’s not reciprocated. You are… much younger than me and I’d understand if you didn’t want to be with someone who has a child and isn't exactly in the prime of his life-“
Another kiss cut off his sentence, you held him closer than before, as if trying to prove you wanted this. His hands roamed your body again and you pulled away, a certain lightness in your voice.
“I don’t just go around kissing all of my co-workers, Aaron,” you smiled. “I want this. I want you.” He barely stifled a grin at that comment.
“Alright then. Can I take you out to dinner sometime?” He smiled, an unknown hopefulness in his eyes.
“Yes, yes you can.” You smiled and he kissed you again, just as much passion and tension as the first.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Monday you came in, Penelope was waiting at your desk with a smile.
“Morning,” you smiled. “How was your weekend?”
“It was amazing,” she over exaggerated her words. Strange. “But not as good as yours.”
“Oh, you saw my post? Yeah the wedding was beautiful-“
“I saw that, but I also saw the gym cctv footage from Friday night,” she exclaimed, piquing the interest of Jj, Emily, Derrick, and Spencer.
“What happened in the gym on Friday night?” Derrick smirked and you sent Penelope a look, one to tell her to not speak.
“Let’s just say we might be calling y/n mom from now on,” she confirmed what all of them thought and you sighed as the onslaught began.
“You get to third base?” “In the office?!” And many other jokes and serious comments were thrown your way until you heard Spencer.
“Derrick, you owe me 10 bucks!” He exclaimed, reminding Derrick of their bet. Derrick rolled his eyes and took out his wallet.
“You two had a bet?!” You asked in absolute shock.
“Yeah, it was whether or not-“ Spencer started to explain until felt a presence behind him.
“You all call me dad?” Aaron smirked as the team's faces dropped. You smiled at him.
“We- it’s just a-“ Spencer tried to explain but Aaron silenced him with a hand on his shoulder.
“We have a new case, briefing starts in 5 minutes,” he shared as the team started grabbing their things for the briefing. “Oh and agent y/n, I need you in my office.”
Everyone stilled, staring at the two of you.
“Paperwork,” he smirked, knowing the team knew about you two.
You rolled your eyes and followed him all the same, walking into his office with a smile. He cupped your cheek and kissed you softly, despite kissing being big no in the workplace.
You pulled away, “breaking rules Mr. Hotchner?” You smirked.
“They’re watching,” he shrugged. “They want a show.”
You rolled your eyes and pressed a short kiss to his lips, then proceeded with the actual paperwork.

Roll The Bones
Pairing: Joel Miller x reader
Author’s note: I wrote this in the midst of a flare up so please enjoy and be gentle with your disabled friends <3
Summary: A bad pain day with Joel [1.5k]
Warnings: descriptions of injuries and subsequent chronic pain, medical settings and discussion, I think that’s it??
Tumblr media
When Joel finds you, you're in a pitiful state. Your arm is folded over your face, covering your eyes even though the blinds are closed and the room is dark. Your right leg is peeking out from under the bundle of blankets and quilt, elevated with a lukewarm towel surrounding the swelling kneecap. The room smells like the salve someone in the town makes that's supposed to alleviate your pain. So far, it's just given you a headache. Your entire body throbs with pain and frustration. It shouldn't be like this, you think ruefully. I shouldn't feel like this.
Joel lightly pads over to your bedside— his footsteps quiet now that he's discarded his boots by the front door— and perches next to you. His hand finds a home on your afflicted knee and carefully maneuvers his thumb over the tendons to help with the pain. You shift the arm covering your face to reach for him, and he smiles.
"There she is," he murmurs as you take him in. His hair is long and a little unruly in the back, but you think it makes him look soft and domestic. He's shed his work jacket and heavier clothes downstairs and is clad in his soft, well-worn-in flannel. He smells like pine and leather. You want to wrap yourself in his warmth but settle for having him nearby. "Ellie told me you were havin' a rough day." He says. It doesn't surprise you that she did, even though you promised her you were fine and didn't need him. It's become rare that she doesn't update him daily on your health.
About a year ago, you were on patrol with Tommy when a Runner came out of nowhere and charged at your horse. She startled and bucked you off before you could regain control of the reins. The Runner was dead before you could hit the ground, and your horse would be recovered within the day, but the damage was done. You broke your leg in two places and dislocated your knee, in addition to a low-level concussion and cuts on your face and arms. When you came back into Jackson on Tommy's horse, half-conscious, bloody, and delirious with pain, Joel was horrified, Ellie even more so.
You were in the hospital for a month as they used what they could to put you in something akin to a cast and reset the bones. Joel and Ellie took turns being guards at your bed, monitoring what they gave you, when, and how much, and how your healing process was going. They were there with you every day, learning the tips and tricks to support you and keeping you sane as you stared at the white walls.
Six months, the doctor said. Six months is all it would take to be back to normal as long as you did everything you were supposed to. Things have gotten better slower than you would like, but they have gotten better. You have really good days where you don't feel anything other than slight twinges when you move your leg in a weird way. Those days, it's hard to remember that you broke it in the first place. But other days, like today, you can feel every muscle in your leg tightening as stiff pain rockets up and down your body. You thought you could persevere enough to go to the store with Ellie, but your body obviously had other plans.
"My leg gave out on me when I was coming down the stairs. Pretty sure I made the whole house shake when I fell." You explain, and his eyebrows knit together in phantom pain as his thumb works your muscle.
"You hurt anythin'?" He asks. "Other than your pride?" You blow air out of your nose in a half-laugh and shake your head.
"Just some bruises," you say. He finds a tender spot in your knee that makes you hiss and ball up your fists, but he doesn't let up until the muscle releases. It's what he's supposed to do: break up the scar tissue, relax the muscles, and hope for the best. It still hurts like a bitch, and it'll hurt more in the morning. He mumbles apologies under his breath and kisses you to try and distract you, but your brain's been running wild for hours. "I went so long without any pain." You finally say, breaking the reverie and collapsing the unwanted space your pain often creates.
"You've been takin' on a lot these past few weeks. It doesn't surprise me somethin' would flare up." It's an honest assessment. He warned you this would happen, but you ignored him. You thought you knew your body better. You wanted to know your body better. The returning thought and the gentle hand on your knee turn your tongue into sandpaper, and tears prick in the corners of your eyes. Despite the low light in the room, Joel catches it and makes a sympathetic noise.
"Hey, talk to me." He says softly, shifting his hand from your knee to your face to catch a few stray tears. You shake your head and try and fail to form the words. Joel is patient. He always is, but he shouldn't have to be.
"I'm so tired of being like this." You whisper, hating the feel of the words on your tongue and hating the sound of them even more. Joel gives you a confused look and pushes your hair out of your face.
"Bein' like what?"
"Sick," you choke out. Now that the dam is broken, there's no stopping the bitter rush of words from leaving you. "We took her across the country and got rid of anyone who even looked at her wrong. Now, I can't even get on a horse without hurting. And I do all the stupid fucking things the doctor tells me to do. I do the exercises and take the medicine and everything, and nothing is making it better, and I'm so tired."
"Why didn't you tell me that?"
"Because I didn't want you to think I'm broken." It's a thought you've harbored since you were laid up in the hospital, unable to even walk to the bathroom without help, but this is the first time you've expressed it. You secretly hoped if you just didn't say anything about it, maybe Joel wouldn't notice. It's a stupid idea, given that your entire lives have changed since the accident. You just didn't want to get thrown away like all the other broken things in this world. Joel takes a deep breath and gazes at you.
"Honey, you aren't broken. Not even close to it," he says. You want to counter him, but the weight of your emotion is too heavy on your chest. "I wanna know if somethin' is hurtin' you cause when you hurt, I hurt, okay? You're not a burden or somethin' to fix. You just… need a little extra care right now, and that's okay. I wanna take care of you."
"What if it's like this forever?" You ask, and he shakes his head.
"It won't be."
"But, what if it is?" More tears fill your eyes as you await his answer. He didn't fall in love with this version of you. You don't know if you could blame him if he never does. But with enough ease and love to take your breath away, Joel kisses your forehead, right where your temple smacked against the cold ground. He kisses your forehead and the white scars littering your cheeks before finally shifting to kiss the knee propped up on pillows and hope. He doesn't flinch at the swelling or the angry spasms. He treats them with care and attention. He treats them as another part of you.
"Takin' care of you has never and will never be on the list of worst things imaginable. Your health is not a sacrifice or a burden on me. If it's like this forever, we'll adapt, but I know you. I know how hard you're workin' to get better. I know we'll find a way to live with this," he says. "But I need you to talk to me when things aren't workin'. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's helpin' and what's not, okay?" You swallow around the lump in your throat and nod.
"Okay."
"Okay," he echoes. "I'm gonna get you an appointment with Dr. Lutton and see if we can't get you on a new treatment plan first thing tomorrow mornin'. Is there anythin' I can do for you until then?" He asks, fully prepared to go to the edge of the earth if you asked him to.
"Can you lay with me?" You ask, and he smiles.
"Of course, baby." He mumbles. He kisses your knee one more time before shuffling to wrap you in his arms. The warmth from his body helps relieve some of your tension and pain, and he kneads calming circles over your shoulders and back. Your focus shifts from the pain in your leg to the song he's humming, the vibrations in his chest a welcome distraction. The pain doesn't go away entirely— you doubt it ever will— but you rest your weary body against his and sleep, finding wholeness in his acceptance of your loss.

“It’s just a cut.” Part two!
summary: part two of “it’s just a cut.” requested by @h-ness1944
warnings: physical abuse by readers mother, heavy description of injuries including dislocated jaw, broken nose and stomach wounds, so much angst, hospitals, vomiting, this is very much slow paced and mostly internal dialogue. let me know if you want part three! sorry for the cliffhanger, but i promise part three will be worth it! if you all want it!
Tumblr media
You would look back on it as an adult and realize that it was the most peaceful moment of your life. The only time where you truly felt calm and free from anxiety. It happened just like it did in the movies. At least it did for you. And when each day would pass, you barely remembered it as the time went on. The only thing you could for sure remember was the outline of Eddie, or rather his foggy image in the corner of your eye. If you pressed your brain hard enough, you could almost remember hearing him, but you never knew what it was that he was saying.
The only thing you could really compare it to was being in the bathtub, slipping yourself underneath the water so all you could hear was the quiet roar of your own thoughts. You weren’t sure if you saw a bright light like people usually said they did, or if your guardian angel was helping you decide whether or not to stay on Earth. It all seemed very cliche, your experience, but that’s how it happened.
You remembered how heavy your body felt when they rolled you into the hospital on the gurney, the sound of wheels turning and creaking against the floor. It was like all of your senses were heightened. You could feel every bump and dip in the floor, the ding of the nearby elevator. Everyone was yelling at each other, but you couldn’t make out what they were saying.
Their figures were blurry, but Eddie was beside you. That much, you could make out, running with the gurney and being ignored by the emt’s and nurses. It was his curly black hair that gave him away, the white hellfire shirt that stuck out in your memory. You could remember how loud he was, and later on, you had realized he was crying, begging someone to tell him if you’d be okay.
You knew that something bad had happened, you just couldn’t remember what it was. You knew you were hurt. You couldn’t feel a thing, and you’d watched enough medical dramas to know that wasn’t a good thing. You had barely stirred, trying to move your arm that had lead you to squeal, your eyes fluttering open and closed. The feeling of something very warm was coming down your neck and with each step they all took, moved you faster and faster.
Then Eddie was gone. Everyone was gone and you were left alone in the dark.
Just when he thought he’d cried every tear in his body, more came. Every time he thought he was done throwing up, he’d rush to the bathroom. He was sitting outside the operating room. No patients were allowed to do so, but with how upset he was, the doctors couldn’t get him to move. Wayne had snuck back there eventually when he had arrived at the hospital.
The hallways were so dark, he had observed. Why weren’t there any damn lights on? He was sat on the floor, knees to his chest and back to the very uncomfortable wall. Tears fell down his face, cheeks swollen, red and stained with heart ache. He was visibly shaking, every nerve ending in his body completely fried.
You weren’t going to make it. He was sure of it. You were going to die and it was going to be his fault.
It had been three days since you had left his place. Neither of you had spoken since. He’d heard the sirens first, and he knew deep down that it was you and something was terribly wrong. Then he got the call from Hopper, confirming that very thought.
He didn’t know what happened. Nobody would tell him. He had demanded from everyone he laid eyes on, but not a word had come out. Not even the police officers had showed up, except for Hopper, who would periodically stop in to see if you’d made it through surgery. Not yet.
Hopper wouldn’t tell him anything, either. Soon, he’d said. It’s messy, son.
Eddie’s brain had never been so loud. Every cell and nerve ending was working overtime, thought after thought was going through his wires, possible outcomes of the night. You would wake up and forgive him. Wake up and hate him. You wouldn’t make it thought.
There wasn’t anything he could feel more than guilt. He’d abandoned you like you were nothing. He had told you he would call to avoid you getting seriously injured, was too afraid of loosing you to go through with it, and now you were in the hospital.
Your jaw was dislocated, that was the first thing. Your nose was broken and your right arm. All of that could be fixed. It was, however, the multiple wounds in your stomach that was the problem. You had been pushed down the stairs, smacking your face on the bottom step, breaking your nose and messing up your jaw in the process, before falling through the window right in front of the stairwell. You hadn’t went complete through, your body halfway outside and halfway in, your stomach directly impacted by the broken, jagged shards of glass that was causing internal bleeding.
Your mom. He’d demanded to know where she was. I’ll kill her! I’ll fuckin’ kill her! He’d banged on Hopper’s chest, sobbing like a broken little boy before he’d nearly collapsed and fainted. Wayne had showed up right as it happened, picking him up off the floor and guiding him to a more secluded spot.
All of that lead to now. Eddie stared at the same spot on the wall for almost thirty minutes, after he had counted every crack in the wall. It had taken him almost two hours. That’s how long you had been in surgery.
The door creaked open to reveal Wayne, holding two paper cups of coffee. He sighed sadly to see his nephew in the same spot, face still heavy in guilt and heart ache. He placed the cup down beside him, settling down on the floor next to him.
Wayne felt just as guilty as Eddie. The old man looked to the doors, hoping to God that you’d pull through, not just for your own sake, your father’s or your friends, but for Eddie’s. The mer idea of him loosing you? He knew that would destroy him in a way that he could never recover from.
“Ed.” Wayne looked over to his boy, shoulders heavy from tears and legs now kicked out lazily, like they were no longer attacked to his body. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Wayne knew your mom was an alcoholic. He knew she said hurtful things to you. But he didn’t know that she physically hurt you. He had been shocked to get the call from Hopper, instructing him he needed to get to the hospital to get his nephew under control.
“She made me swear.” His voice was hoarse, dead quiet. He couldn’t decide if he was more angry or guilty. Angry at you for making him stay silent? Or guilty for staying silent the moment he was free to speak? “I..I didn’t want to loose her.” But you may loose her now. His eyes teared up, glossing over once again.
“She was afraid she’d get moved to another family. Somewhere far away.” He stared at the same spot, recalling the memories of you crying in his arms. “She wanted to stay with her mom.” The last word came out hateful, full of venom.
“You know you could have told me.” Wayne said gently, trying not to cause him anymore guilt. “I thought we had an understanding? You can tell me anything, Ed.”
“I know that.” He finally shut his eyes, squeezing his fist tightly. “I know, Wayne, but I couldn’t. I was too afraid of loosing her.” He scoffed humorlessly. “And the moment I decide I can’t do it anymore, I can’t keep it a secret, I can’t do that either. Now look at her. She’s gonna fuckin’ die on me and It’s gonna be my fault!” He flung a jeweled hand out, batting at the air as he sniffled, tears rolling down his face.
“Hey,” Wayne grabbed his shoulder. “She’s going to pull through this, Ed. Have faith in er’. She’ll make it.”
He fell apart. His face crinkled up and he covered his face with his hands, coiling over and letting out a deep sob that reverberated off the hospital walls. “This is all my fault.”
Wayne wrapped a protective arm around Eddie’s shoulder. “No it’s not, buddy. It’s no one’s fault.”
“I love her so much.” His voice was muffled, face hidden in the fabric of his jean covered knees that he brought up to his chest. “I’ve lost her, Wayne. No matter what happens I’ve lost her. She’ll never speak to me again.”
Your mom was in jail. For how long she’d be he didn’t know. What he did know was that it would be a very long time before she would be free again.
“Eddie,” The old man began. “I’ve watched you two together. You’ll make it through this. She loves you, boy. You’ll be okay and so will she.”
The ache in his stomach made him breathless, the pain in his heart made him dizzy. He closed his eyes and squeezed them shut, willing his pain to go away. He hoped Wayne was right. Because loosing you was just not an option.
“I can’t.” Eddie gasped, crawling off the floor. “I can’t. I’ve got- walk, I’ve gotta talk a walk.” He tripped on his own feet, spilling his cup off coffee and cursing. Wayne had tried to follow him, but he was bolting out the door and into a new hallway.
He was choking on his own breath, hand going to hold his stomach as he coughed. He’d surely be sick again. He tried to breath deeply, but the panic that built up in his chest made him lightheaded. Once his eyes on were on a nearby trashcan, he was running, grasping at the circling object and vomiting the contents of his stomach. He’d thrown up everything already, so he was left with painful dry heaves.
“God.” He cried once he was finished. He looked around, tearful eyed and broken.
He walked until he found the chapel, the cross above the sign that hung high. It was ironic, the fact he was praying. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d prayed. He was in the front seat, hands folded over and pressed to his forehead. He begged any God that would listen to him, pleading that you would wake up. You could hate him, you could love him, either way, as long as you were okay, he’d take it.
Please. Please.
“Eddie.” Wayne had found him, placing a hand on his shoulder. It took him a moment before he looked up, and Wayne felt his heart shake. The boy was broken completely. He looked so young, so hurt. With wet, round eyes and a puffy face, his bottom lip quivered and he whimpered like he was a little boy again. He reached for his uncles arm, dropping it from the lack of energy and sobbed softly. Wayne sat beside him, pulling him to hold him close to his chest. They hadn’t hugged like that in years.
Your eyes were so heavy you could barely lift them, fluttering them open as best at you could. The first thing you registered was the pain in your nose, the way your jaw and teeth ached. Actually, everything hurt. You felt like you’d been hit by a train twice. You couldn’t remember anything, only the hurt you were feeling. You slowly peeled your eyes open, adjusting to the bright light of the room.
You knew it was Eddie, even thought you weren’t able to focus your eyes. You groaned, body sluggish and groggy. You felt his hands on yours, fuzzy and tingly, like you were feeling him for the first time. You could hear him, his voice sounded cloudy like he was under water. You gulped, trying to move your head. He was letting go of you, running out of the room, only to return with a doctor moments later.
Slowly, things came into focus. First it was your vision. Everything became clear, the room, the doctor. Eddie. Then you could hear the heart monitor beeping quickly, the doctors asking if you could hear them. Eddie asking if you could hear him.
Quick relief turned to panic, because everything seemed to click. Doctors were looking at you, and doctors usually meant that you were in a hospital. You whimpered, flinching when a nurse tried to touch you. You tried to speak, but your voice came was dry and hoarse, your sudden movement causing a horrible pain to shoot through your stomach.
Then it got dizzy again, your panic overwhelming you. They voices got foggier, your vision clouded, and you were out just as quickly as you had woken.
You’d been in and out for days. Eddie was with you every time you woke up, but it was the same every time. You didn’t know where you were. You were so groggy and confused. It scared him, but he didn’t leave you. The doctors said it was normal from the amount of anesthesia you had taken in, and that sometime it took awhile to get out of one’s system.
He was holding your hand, head laying on the blanket that covered you. He hadn’t been home since the doctor told him you would pull through. When he got the news, he fell to the floor in pieces, sobbing and thanking the universe, god, or whoever was out there, for answering his prayers.
He didn’t know what you’d say to him. Would you hate him? Blame him for what happened? What about your mom? Would you want to bail her out of jail. There was no bail. She’d be in there for a long time. Her court date hadn’t been decided yet. He wondered if you’d go and stand beside her. He hoped to god you wouldn’t.
His friends brought him clothes and food. Gareth had said hospital food wasn’t fit to feed a starving man, clapping his shoulder and giving him a plastic grocery bag full of snacks and drinks. Steve had brought him deodorant and a tooth brush, smoothing over a piece of your hair and kissing your forehead when he stopped by. Dustin had come by and cried, not knowing how to handle or process the situation.
The time finally came when you were ready to awaken fully, a few hours later when he had went to use the bathroom. You remembered everything. Falling down the stairs, breaking your nose. It was covered in gauze, a bandage holding it all in place. Your jaw ached something terrible. You had looked down at your body, hands feeling yourself to make sure you were still intact. It hurt to cry, but you couldn’t stop.
Your mom. Where was she?
“Y/n.” Eddie gasped when he opened the door, nearly dropping to the floor in a dead faint. He ran to you. “Oh, god, baby girl.” He grabbed your hands.
“What happened!” You cried. You knew, yet you asked anyways. “Eddie- what happened? Where’s my mom?”
He held your arms, a tear falling down his face as he relished in the sound of your voice. “Shh, just calm down, baby. I’ll tell you everything.”
“Mom, mom- where’s mom?” You blubbered, shaking your head through tears. “Is she dead?”
“No.” He held your shoulders, hand going to cup your cheek. “No, honey, she’s not. She’s detained, right now, okay? You need to calm down, angel. You’ll rip your stitches.”
“Stitches?” You asked confused, trying to sit up. “Why do I have stitches?”
You didn’t remember going through the window. You must have passed out. Your reunion with Eddie, however, was short lived. Once the doctors knew you were up, the police were barging in your room. Eddie stood up straight, standing at your side. You flinched, and Hopper offered an apologetic smile.
“We need to ask you some questions, y/n.”

Magical girl versus child soldier :]
When Dani was created vald's intentions were to create another danny, off the bat, she wasn't a person of her own in his eyes, you can imagine what that does to someone. Being forced another person's individuality instead of figuring out your own.
Vlad didn't know the exact circumstances in which Danny died, only the outcome, and so he thought that all he had to do was to recreate the final product to get what he wanted, but there were a lot more things in play then vlad predicted.
For one, Vlad didn't think that a major reason for Danny existing was thanks to his hazmat suit, its why most clones didn't last long outside their tube.
A solution that was figured out for Dani was to make clothes from ecto resistant fabric to hold the clones shape, of course for her they were extremely uncomfortable just being in them, let alone fighting in them, but she maneged.
Of course, she was still at a risk of suddenly starting to melt at any moment, but luckily she was valuable enough to be given treatment that could keep her functioning.
Tumblr media
After she ran from vlad she lost to said treatment, and this caused damage, but it was still a hundred times better then returning to plasmius.
Then Danny found her and she wasn't dying anymore but the damage was done and she was left with problems in both forms.
As a ghost, keeping a solid form is very hard for her now, not that she couldn't exist as a puddle, but she doesn't want to. Basic asking for help was not a skill she was taught, but her now new family were observant enough.
She got a full body-brace-suit (first picture left) that would let her keep her shape, but it's not meant for fighting, which she doesn't plan on doing anymore.
As a human, chronic joint pain and misshapen meniscus in both knees which causes them to be very easily dislocated.
The cane they got her helps but on worse days getting up from bed is harder then fighting Danny, and they don't have the money nor does Dani has a civilian identity to get a wheelchair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dani herself is very different from Danny. From personality to interests (she likes fish, marine biology seems cool). They may be genetic twins but like in all sets of twins they are completely different.
Also she got a water core

Twilight was a no-good filthy traitor. Legend hoped a bird shit on his head, or that he had to walk with wet socks, or that all of his hair burned off during the next monster fight. It would only serve him right.
“He looks like he’s plottin’ my demise,” Twilight muttered in an aside to Hyrule.
“Because I am,” Legend bit out, only keeping his voice down so the others didn’t wake. If there was any mercy to be found, it was that Twilight hadn’t told anyone else yet. Goddess knows that would only make things worse.
Hyrule took a slow, deep breath—bracing himself, or maybe out of patience. Legend didn’t know him well enough to say, yet. For a healer, he was surprisingly prickly at times. “We’re only concerned, Legend. Let us help you.”
“And I’m telling you, there’s nothing to help.”
“Twilight said he’s seen you wearing those rings every night.” Hyrule glanced at Legend’s fingers pointedly. “We recognize them. You once mentioned they’re for healing.”
“So what?” Legend snarked.
“So quit being a stubborn bastard and tell us where you’re hurt,” Twilight grumbled, voice just shy of too loud. “You wouldn’t wear ‘em without reason. You’ve said yourself you don’t like wastin’ magic.”
“They’re passive,” Legend sighed, then held up his hands when they both scoffed and opened their mouths to argue. “Why can’t you simply trust me to handle my own shit?”
“Because you’re not on your own now,” Hyrule argued. “We’re a team, and if you’re hurting when one of us can help—”
“Good Three, are you deaf?” Legend snapped in a whisper. “I already said you can’t!”
Hyrule’s ears flattened, and he lowered his gaze. Legend instantly felt like shit.
“Prove it, then,” Twilight said. “Let him do a quick scan, and if there’s truly nothing, we’ll apologize and leave you alone.”
Legend wanted to throw something. He half-considered shoving Twilight just to have an outlet for some of his frustration, but the farm boy was built like a brick shithouse. Probably wouldn’t do Legend the courtesy of budging. “You know what? Fine. Since you’re incapable of respecting my privacy, fine.”
They both looked chastised, but not enough to stop them from taking advantage of Legend’s reluctant acquiescence. Hyrule stepped forward—and wasn’t that its own sharp discomfort, allowing someone into his space without bristling—and placed glowing hands near Legend’s head and chest. For a moment, the only sound was the crackle of the camp fire. Then Hyrule made an unhappy sound in the back of his throat.
“Your right knee…”
As if on cue, an ache shot up through Legend’s leg. “Old ACL tear.”
“It didn’t heal well.”
“No.”
Seconds passed, Hyrule chewing on his lower lip. “What about your back?”
“Nerve damage after a fall.”
Twilight winced. “How high?”
Legend bitterly recalled the unforgiving rocky slopes of Tal Tal Heights. “High,” he answered curtly.
Hyrule shifted his hands. “Your hip—was it dislocated?”
“Mhm. Lynel clipped me.”
“It’s not… Your socket must’ve been damaged as well. It’s not a great fit.”
“I’m aware.”
“And your left ankle?” Hyrule asked quietly. “A fracture?”
“I didn’t have time to set it properly. Had to chug a potion and run.” He figured it went without saying that the alternative would’ve been much worse.
Hyrule frowned. “There’s some scarring in your lungs. Does it hurt to breathe?”
A small raft, a large storm. Choking on salt water as waves crashed overhead. Waking up on Koholint, convinced he must’ve drowned— “Not enough to matter.”
“I see…” Hyrule suddenly took Legend’s left hand in both of his. He was so, so gentle. It made Legend want to hide under a rock. “Can you feel anything in your palm?”
“Besides pins and needles?” Legend shrugged. “Hardly. Burn went too deep.”
Twilight shifted uncomfortably where he stood. “Hyrule, can you heal any of this?”
Hyrule hesitated, then took a step back, letting go of Legend’s hand. “I can try but…” He shook his head sadly. “There’s so much more. So many little traumas that healed wrong, or weren’t addressed in time. Some of your joints are relying on scar tissue for support to function. The arthritis alone, it—I can’t even imagine. Oh, Legend, I’m so sor—”
“I know,” Legend hissed, feeling his face burn with embarrassment. “I fucking know, but you both insisted, and—and there’s nothing to be done, is there? Nothing to do but deal with it, like I always have.” He scoffed, fidgeting with one of his rings. “Only now, you know how broken I am. Congratulations, I guess. I’m proof of what it means to be the goddesses’ favorite.”
Twilight reached out, probably intending to offer comfort, but Legend flinched away. He wasn’t sure why he’d said that last bit. He wished he could take it back. “Just… please,” he started, too tired and ashamed to keep up his anger. “Give me some privacy, and don’t tell the others. Can you at least do that for me?”
Twilight finally looked appropriately regretful. Too bad it didn’t make Legend feel any better. “Of course, Ledge,” he murmured. “And I’m—truly, I’m sorry for pryin’.”
“It’s fine,” Legend said, which wasn’t true, but it was better than “whatever” or “you should be.” He thinks they understood anyway.

AITA for giving a friend tickets to a concert that I originally bought for a different friend?
This kind of petty drama tbh but my friends are divided over this whole thing and I worry that the way I acted was wrong.
I (16) bought 4 tickets to a concert that I really wanted to see, intending to ask my friends to go with me for my birthday. Because I was the one who wanted to go, and I know none of my friends are super into this artist, I thought it was only fair that I bought the tickets. They were like £70 each and I spent some of the money I got as gifts to buy them.
I asked 1 friend who has kind of been my on and off best friend for the past 4 years, we'll call her E, to go with m. She asked if we could also invite someone she's friends with, who I don't know that well- let's call her O. I wasn't super happy with the idea but I really wanted E to come and I thought maybe it could be a good way to get to know O more. The asked a few of other friends if they wanted the last ticket but they were either busy or didn't know if they would be allowed (the concert was happening in another city) so the last ticket wasn't claimed for a while.
The week of the concert arrived and I ended up in hospital because I dislocated my knee. I was told I probably shouldn't go to a concert because I should be on rest for a few days. I was pretty upset but there wasn't really anything I could do about it. I let E know I couldn't go anymore and that I was just gonna post the tickets for sale online. I told her she could buy hers if she still wanted to go. She didn't reply so I had a feeling she was pissed about it. On the day of the concert, the tickets hadn't been bought. I was home from school all day but a few of my friends came by after to see how I was doing.
This is when I learned that E had told everyone that I had given her all four tickets and that she had told two guys from the year above that they could have my ticket and the spare one for free if they gave her and O a ride to the concert. I tried calling E but she didn't pick up or reply to texts. I'll admit I was kind of angry. The girls who came to see me after school said they would buy the tickets from me and go to the concert if the tickets were still available. So I sold them the tickets for £50 each (that was all the had on them at the time and I was fine with getting at least some of the money back versus giving them to E and some random people for free) and they went to the concert.
A few hours before the concert started, E showed up at my house and asked for the tickets. I told her I had sold them to some other friends and she kicked OFF. She said I had given her at least her and O's tickets as a gift and that I couldn't just take that back. She had the guy from the year above come up to my house and ask where the tickets were too, though he seemed confused about the whole thing and was pretty understanding when I said I had bought them for my birthday but got injured so I decided to sell them. Eventually my mum had to ask them to leave because E was just yelling at me, saying that I was a shitty friend, and I was pretty upset.
Things have been so tense in school since the concert. Some of my friends don't believe that I never promised E all of the tickets after I got injured, so they're really mad at me and the friends who went to the concert. The whole thing is really awkward and I'm starting to feel like maybe it was an asshole move on my part. I don't know. E basically hasn't spoken to me since. I knew she had made plans with the tickets so I guess it was bad of me to sell the tickets to those other friends. I just feel like she shouldn't have assumed I would give them all away to her for free? Especially when I told her ahead of time that she could buy the tickets, otherwise I was gonna try selling them. She never replied to let me know she wanted them. AITA?
What are these acronyms?

This is very random but could we get something with Joel miller? Maybe reader has hurt her arm or something so he is helping her get dressed and comforting her because she’s really frustrated with herself for getting injured?
ty for your request ♡ fem!reader
"You okay?" Joel asks.
You spin on your ass to the tent entrance to find him crouched down, watching you struggle with your shirt. You cringe away from his gaze, knowing you're a sight. Contusions stretch like stains up your ribs, under your armpit, and across your shoulder. The pain is nothing compared to the original injury —you dislocated your shoulder, Joel popped it back into the socket.
The bruise is healing badly.
"I must'a done something wrong," Joel says, eyeing the bruise. You're glad that he's ignoring your dirty bra, once white, now a mottling of yellow, grey, and blood rusted red.
"Just bruises," you mutter, trying again to lift your arm.
"Don't. I'll help."
"I can do it," you insist, attempting another go quickly as he sets down on his knees in front of you.
"Stop." His explanation goes unsaid. You're hurting yourself. "You could try listening to me. Every once in a while."
"I was kind of busy keeping your stupid charge from pinwheeling off of a balcony, in case you forgot."
"I meant when I told you to stop," Joel says, pulling your arms down gently to your lap. He pulls the back of your shirt over your craned head and quickly pushes your head through the neck.
You wince as he helps your arms through the sleeves.
"I'm fucking stupid," you mutter.
You've been thinking about it for a while. You're weak for getting hurt, weaker for saying aloud how you feel. You don't want Joel to think of you like that, and you wish you could take it back as soon as you've said it. His face is impassive as always, the slightest pinch to his brows as he finishes straightening the bottom of your shirt over your stomach.
"For what?" he asks quietly.
"Getting hurt."
"You were getting hurt for a reason. Ellie," —he rests his hands on your hips— "she'd be dead if you didn't catch her. You popped your arm out so she didn't snap her neck. Doesn't make you stupid."
His touch makes you pause, terrified to lose it. It's not often he holds you. Maybe because he doesn't need to be touching someone as much as you want him to be, maybe because Ellie shadows him, a pale silhouette at his back. Your admission hasn't disgusted him as you'd worried. He's offering you reassurance in his way. Quiet, steady.
"I never should've let her go by herself."
"I shouldn't have let you," he argues. There's bite there suddenly. "Don't blame yourself for something that's my fault. Mine."
You slouch, braceleting one of his wrists with the hand that doesn't burn to move. Every ligament in your opposite arm screams to be iced. All you want is half an oxy and a bed to lay in.
"I should've been faster. Should've seen she was messing around."
Joel's hands travers unexpectedly to the small of your back. He meets your eyes head on, the heat of his touch trailing up to your agonised shoulder. He smooths his hand over it carefully. It hurts, but you say nothing.
"It's not your fault," he says. One moment you want it and the next he's holding your cheek in his hand. His skin smells of pine needles, wood and dirt. A fingertip traces under your eye likes he's following a dotted line, before he hooks his fingers behind your ear. "You wanna be mad at someone, you be mad at me."
"Are you guys being gross in there?" Ellie asks from outside the tent.
Joel kisses the top of your head and moves away.
"Hello?" Ellie asks, pulling aside the tent door.
"Privacy," Joel says.
"She's just sitting here." Ellie says, plopping down on her knees in the entryway. It's a small tent, bursting to capacity with her arrival.
"She was getting changed."
"I could've helped," Ellie says. She widens her eyes, eyebrows climbing her forehead with little in the way of subtlety.
"I got it," Joel says firmly.
Ellie's smile is smarmy. "I bet you do."

Confused Emotions 🔪
Yandere!Changbin x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: yandere, obsessive behavior, punching, spanking, light violence
Short tempered, strong, and scary. That was your boyfriend Changbin. Why was he so obsessive? You were in constant fear. He didn’t want to scare you, but he couldn’t help it. Why won’t you just comply? He’s just trying to love you! You loved him originally but now you just weren’t sure. I mean, sometimes he’s soft. Sometimes the man you fell in love with comes through.
————————————————————————
It’s been about 2 weeks since you last went out. Changbin said it was because of the constant rain and storms that have been hitting. But he won’t even let you make a phone call or text. You didn’t know what to do half the time.
Today you just wanted to get some fresh air. You stood out in the back yard while he was gone running errands. It stopped raining and there was that after rain smell still lingering. It was a nice change.
You didn’t think Changbin would be very mad at you standing in the backyard. The gate was locked and fence high. No one could even see in untess they were over 6ft. And yet, he was still pissed. Fuming, actually.
“Baby?!” Changbin gasped while grabbing your hand. “I was so worried!”
“I was just outside, Binnie…”
“You’re not supposed to go outside without me!” He blurted out, yanking on your hair. “Bad girl!”
“Ow, Binnie!” You cried as he dragged you inside, pulling you into the living room.
“Why don’t you listen to me?!” He grunted while he grabbed your hands and looked at you. “I love you, y/n! Someone could take you!
“The only person who took me is you!”
As soon as you snapped back, there was a sudden smack to your face. No, not a smack, more like a punch. A punch hard enough to knock you to the floor.
“ I hate it when you’re a bad girl!” Changbin yelled while looking down at you. “You have no idea!”
“B-Binnie—…”
Changbin got on his knees and leaned over you. “Yes baby?”
“Y-you… you hurt me…” you cried.
It was an odd change of tone. He rubbed your cheeks where he punched you. Suddenly feeling really bad. “Baby! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean… you… you shouldn’t have gone outside!”
It’s like he couldn’t decide what emotion to express with you. It was frustrating. He yanked you up by the arm. You were sure he was going to dislocate your shoulder one day.
“C’mon…” he grunted, pulling you to the bedroom.
“You’re staying in here!” He yelled while tossing you to the bed.
“Binnie-.”
“Shut up!” He said, suddenly grabbed you by the jaw and got really close. “You’re a bad girl! Never listen to my rules!”
“I’m not a fuckin child!”
He suddenly flips you around and harshly spanks your bottom. Your jeans were still on but it still hurt like a bitch.
“Bad girl!”
“Bin-”
“Bad girl!” He yelled with another smack.
You cried as he delivered the last blow and he flipped you onto your back.
“Im sorry! I’m sorry!” He suddenly said, now rubbing your cheeks. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!!”
What was wrong with this man?!
“You love me right?! Right?! ” Changbin said almost desperately. “I love you!!”
You could only look at him with tears in your eyes. He was nearly on top of you and you couldn’t move.
He kissed your lips. Then your cheek. Then your lips again, and again… and again. “I love you. *kiss* love me. *kiss* love me please! *kiss*”
You nodded hesitantly, just wanting him to get off of you since he was suffocating you a bit.
He got up off of you and you sat up, wiping your tears.
“I’ll get dinner!” Changbin said while going to the door. You followed him until he pushed you back. “You stay here. You’re a bad girl.”
“I-I’m sorry, Binnie…”
“I know. Just until the end of today. I’ll see you later, baby.” Changbin poked your cheek and left, locking the door behind him.
You laid on the bed and sighed. Why was he like this?

Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Female Reader
Summary: Natasha bandages up the reader in after a long mission.
Words: 946
The pain that seared through your body did nothing to overcome the deep chill that had settled in your bones.
Harsh winds rattled the windows. Rain hammered against the worn wooden walls and streamed through the breaks in the corrugated steel roof. Water pooled in a muddy sea that stretched to every wall of the dilapidated shed. You sat on a wooden table—the only moderately dry spot you could find—doing your best to hold still while Natasha Romanoff stitched up a deep gash on your upper thigh.
Natasha pushed the needle through your skin and you groaned, resisting the urge to flinch.
Even with the pain meds coursing through your blood, it still hurt like a motherfucker. You weren’t surprised. You hadn’t hoped for much when you had taken the single ibuprofen. There was only three pills between you and Natasha and her dislocated knee, burgeoning black eye, and possible concussion won out over the deep cut in your thigh.
Natasha pulled the thread through your flesh and you let out a faint whimper. You laid back, resting your mud-and-blood coated hair on the damp table. The table wobbled and groaned. You held your breath for fear of the table falling apart beneath you. That was the last thing you wanted to deal with.
“This can’t be any worse than Venice,” Natasha said as she begun to thread through your skin again.
You laughed, which turned into a stifled groan at the sharp pain that spread over your chest. Broken ribs. Probably multiple. Too bad there was no bandage or stitch that could lessen that pain.
You said, “Things can always be worse.”
“But not as bad as Venice.” She finished her stitch and grabbed onto a bandage, pressing it onto your skin.
Holy fuck it hurt, but you couldn’t show that. Natasha had already had to step in to stitch the cut when she saw your hands shaking as you prepared to pierce your skin. You blamed the adrenaline. Your blood still pumped from the hours of creeping and fighting your way through a  Croatian intelligence base and the hours of running it took to find a place to crash for the night. What you didn’t want to say was that it also came from the fear that fluttered through your chest. The paranoia of wondering if someone would track you down and find you while you slept, the worry that you wouldn’t be able to get out of the country and back home to Russia, the fear that once you did you would be shipped out on another mission the moment your feet touched the ground.
It wasn’t that you weren’t fulfilled by your life, because you were, but fear was the one thing that couldn’t be solved by truth. You loved working for your country. You fought for those back home who couldn’t fight for themselves. You held your country up, guarding it from outside threats. You made it safe and you made it possible for wealth and joy to prosper. There was nothing in life that could make you feel more complete, more purposeful, but no matter what you did, that fear continued to cloud your mind.
You were lucky that Natasha hadn’t pointed it out to your superiors. If she had, you wouldn’t be fit to fight for your country. You would be a pile of bones at the bottom of some middle-of-nowhere lake. For that, you owed her your life. She was too stupid to not know it, yet she had never used it against you. You weren’t entirely sure why, but you weren’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
You pushed yourself up into a sitting position. Natasha eased herself off the table, her boots squelching in the mud. She walked to the driest corner of the shed and picked up the bag she had sat there, throwing it over her shoulder.
“Get off the table,” Natasha said, her voice nearly drowned out by the torrential downpour.
You nodded and got off the table, doing your best to keep weight off of your leg. She took the table, flipped it over and pushed it up against the corner. She threw the bag onto the table then carefully sat down, taking care to not bend her knee. If it wasn’t hurting now, it sure s hell would in the morning. You made your way onto the table, slowly lowering yourself onto the floor beside her.
Water and mud rose through the cracks in the wooden slats, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to care. You let out a breath and leaned against the damp wall.
Natasha pulled a handgun out of the bag and rested it on her lap, her finger a breadth away from the trigger. She trained her eyes on the door that opened into pitch darkness. She inched herself closer to you until your shoulders were touching. It wasn’t much, but that small connection chased away some of the cold that had embedded itself into your bones.
“Sleep,” Natasha said. “I’ll wake you up for the next shift.”
“All right,” you said, then let out a slow breath.
You allowed your body to calm, to give in to the sleep that nagged at the back of your mind. You needn’t stress now. There was nothing to be afraid of. That would come in the morning. Now, you just needed to rest. Your body needed a break. It had, after all, been on the move for the last 30 hours. And Natasha was there to guard you from whatever came until you were awake and once again ready to face the world.

Ooo hiiiii! If it’s okay (I’m sorry if this is too detailed!!),
Can I please request a Everyone lives au! (All of the Avengers are alive and well, and the team is still together as a family😅) Bucky x fem!civilian!reader where they first met when he was The Winter Soldier, and again in TFAWS? He miraculously had saved Y/n’s life back when he was the Winter Soldier, something that he had never told anyone about (as Hydra probably would’ve had her killed for seeing the Winter Soldier). It all comes to the surface years later when Bucky, Steve, and Sam are out at a restaurant when they run into Y/n, who is their waitress, and drops their food once she sees who Bucky is (he thinks it’s because she’s afraid, but she’s not, it’s because she recognizes him as the man who saved her life). + she hugs and thanks him? Sam and Steve being proud of him🥺 + Y/n and Buck falling in love?
I feel like it’d be really meaningful and emotional for Bucky to have someone see him as their hero, rather than the villain that he thinks he is (POOR BBY)🥺🥺
Hiii thank you sooo much for your ask!! This is my first one! I hope I do it justice!
Tumblr media
The chill of the midnight breeze made Bucky shiver, he shouldn’t be out right now and he knows he doesn’t need to be. It’s a conscious decision. Steve, Sam, and Bucky are veterans and they have no business taking on the graveyard shift but they didn’t care. They didn’t care that the new recruits were younger and would adapt to the bizarre sleep schedule better, they didn’t care that they had to bundle up with an extra layer of clothing before leaving the compound so they wouldn’t get a cold, they didn’t care that now they understood the term: ‘I know tomorrow’s gonna rain, my knees always hurt before it does.’
After they ‘gently convinced’ (as Bucky would say) the person who supposedly knew information about the new mission they were on, the three men found themselves at a 24hr diner at 2am. Hoping to get in their third cup of coffee on the shift.
“I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” Sam groaned, leaning his head on the back of the squeaky red booth.
“I knew I was going to stop at some point, I just didn’t know that the end would come with me having to crack every single bone before fighting.” Steve laughed into his coffee.
Bucky looked up at the flickering fluorescent lights. “I dislocate my shoulder every time, I’m starting to think I should just keep it out of the socket. It’ll give me less trouble that way.”
“When did we get so old?” Bucky said with a groan, putting his face in his hands.
“We should get some food in, wouldn’t want to get acid reflux before a fight.” Sam flagged the waitress down.
Bucky didn’t know what he was expecting, scratch that- he knows exactly what he was expecting and it wasn’t you. He thought his waitress would be an older woman, she would smell of stale coffee and fryer oil. But suddenly you were here, with him, and everything started moving in slow motion.
At first you didn’t recognize him, it had been years since you’d last saw him. And even that time you first met, you didn’t get to truly see him. You were too afraid to even peek through your hand covered eyes. You balanced the tray of food, meant for the person a few tables behind them, with one hand while the other one rummaged through the pocket at the front of your apron for a pen.
You finally found it and clicked the top.
“What will you guys be-“ Your mouth suddenly turned dry as you met his crystal eyes. In a matter of milliseconds your world shifted. Like one second you were working the late night shift your obnoxious boss had forced you into doing and the next your back in time. Exactly eight years ago, the night your life changed.
Everyone around you worried, your first-time leaving home and you chose a big city. “You know they have pickpockets there, right?” someone had told you, trying to convince you not to go. But you’d roll your eyes and say: “I’m more scared of the guys around here who drink and drive than a couple of pickpockets.”
You were surprisingly autonomous for a person who had never been apart from- well- anyone you knew. All of your family, friends and safety net now resided a couple of thousands of miles away.
But there was something about that day eight years ago, the first day where everything went wrong. Maybe it was your brains way of giving you some sort of bad omen. You had stayed out a little too late that day and missed your train, now you had to take the bus. But the only route available took you to an unknown part of town. From there you would have to walk some 40 odd minutes to get back home.
Your boots clicking on the hard cobblestone was the only thing to be heard, the light of the moon the only thing that was shining. A strange feeling took over your being as you looked around the foreign place. And just to make things worse, it started raining.
As you started feeling the droplets becoming more aggressive you decided to wait the storm out in what looked like an old hotel. But as you pushed the door open, you realized it was abandoned on the inside. You stayed close to the door and took in your surroundings.
There was an old wooden door to your left, it was slightly open so you peered inside. It creaked as you opened it and your heart sank as you saw what was inside. A man tied to a chair, his cheekbone was cut and bleeding, a knife was sticking out from his upper thigh. You gasped as you came closer.
“Help me.” The man groaned but before you could do anything, something came out of the shadows.
Half of his face was covered and his hair was long, but your eyes were glued to his. His dark cerulean eyes were lit by the moonlight coming in from the skylight.
He marched towards you until you were backed up against the wall. You’d heard about him before. The Winter Soldier, but you thought he was a character made up by mothers across the world so their children would do as they said. A sort of Boogeyman.
Your life flashed before your eyes as you saw his metal hand come up to your throat. You closed your eyes tightly and waited for the light at the end of the tunnel, but it never came. You opened one eye and saw the shining red star at his shoulder slightly shake, the only indication that he was there because when you saw his face it was blank. The dark hue in his eyes you saw a second earlier had disappeared. In its place was a light crystal blue shine. His silver hand was still around your neck but he didn’t apply any pressure.
“Who are you?” He muttered through gritted teeth. The lines in his forehead a clear indication that he was battling with himself.
“I’m nobody.” You squeaked, your eyes never leaving his.
He opened his mouth to say something but turned his head to the side, listening for something. “You have to leave.”
“What?” You gasped.
He took your hand in his right one and lead you to the window in the room. He smashed the glass, making sure there was no sharp edge as he picked you up to sit on the windowsill.
“What are you doing?” You asked quietly, not sure how you even got one word out. You finally heard some voices coming closer to the room you were in.
“Leave!” he ordered looking from you to the door. “They’ll kill you if you don’t!”
You jumped out into the rain and looked back at him.
“Run!” he yelled before taking a knife and stabbing it into his right arm. He groaned in pain.
“What’s going on down here, Soldat?” You heard someone ask.
“Someone came in, wanting to take the prisoner out. I took care of them.” The Winter Soldier said.
Your fight or flight finally kicked in and you ran, you ran until your legs gave out and you were far away from him.
He recognized you too, you saw it flash in his eyes. You took a step back in shock and bumped into the table behind them, dropping the contents of your tray on the floor. You gasped.
“I-I’ll-“ You stuttered. “I’ll bring over a mop.”
You rushed back to the kitchen, taking the cleaning supplies from the closet and passing them over to your coworker, Frank.
“What’s this about?” He rolled his eyes.
“I’ve covered for you hundreds of times.” You spat out. “Clean up the mess at table 17 and call it even.”
Before he could even answer you rushed out the back door, desperately needing fresh air. Your breaths were shallow and no amount of air could relieve the pressure you felt in your chest. You ripped the apron off and threw it on the ground, pacing back and forth.
You heard the back door creak open. “I don’t need your shit right now, Frank!”
But you could recognize the sound of those boots anywhere. You lifted your head and saw the Winter Soldier walking towards you. Your breath got caught in your throat. He picked up your apron up and brought it closer to you.
“We’ve met before.” He gulped. “When I was someone I no longer am.”
His voice had a strange quality to it, like he was unsure as to what to say. Your eyes widened at his tone.
You wanted to find a way to say what you felt but how can you put into words: ‘Thank you for saving my life eight years ago and not killing me even though you were programmed to kill anything in your way back then.’
Maybe you could find a Hallmark card?
He looked down at the floor with shame as you didn’t answer, almost embarrassed.
But before you knew it, you were wrapping your arms over his shoulders and pulling him in for a hug. Now it was his turn to widen his eyes.
You let go after a few seconds. “I’m sorry about that. The hug, I don’t know if you’re a hugger.”
His mouth opened slightly and his cheeks had a pinkish hue to them.
“Thank you.” You whispered.
His eyebrows furrowed. “Did you- did you just say thank you? You’re not afraid?”
“Afraid?” You asked. “You saved me that night. You fought all your instincts and saved me, even when it would have been easier to just get rid of me. I don’t know how I can repay you.”
“I- I don’t understand. I don’t know what to say.” Bucky was shocked, he thought you were scared of him. He couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be on the other side of the Winter Soldier. A young woman being almost choked to death by a machine. But here he was, being thanked by you.
You shook your head. “Don’t say anything, just listen. Thank you, you saved my life.”
A rare, small smile tugged at his lips. Those words changed him. Six silly words that came out of your mouth like sweet honey seeped into his fractured heart. He felt something, for the first time in decades.
Bucky cleared his throat. “I’ll leave you to it.”
You smiled at him, brushing back your hair.
When you returned to the table much more composed, you finally asked for their order. One cheese and spinach omelet for the Falcon, one BLT for Captain America and just a black coffee for the Winter Soldier. Was this real life?
They asked for the check a while later, surprised when you said it was on the house.
“If I’d known you guys give food for free, I would have come by sooner.” Sam laughed.
“It’s not every day you get to see the man who saved your life.” You said with a smile.
Both men turned to look at a now blushing Bucky.
“Please, it was nothing.” He said shyly, not looking up.
You nodded your head, a feeling of pride filling your body. This man who has only felt feared deserves to be awarded for his good. “He saved my life eight years ago when I wandered into a place I was definitely not supposed to be in.”
A smile appeared on Steve’s face as he patted his best friend on the back. “I’m proud of you Buck.”
----
The shift happened immediately after that day. Suddenly Bucky started to push Steve and Sam to take the graveyard shift with him more often, and when they stopped going he decided to go by himself.
“My head feels clearer at night.” Was Bucky’s excuse once.
But everyone could see the Sergeant’s true intentions. He had quite literally fallen in love with you, he’d slipped on the linoleum floors one night after missing the caution cone you’d put out, but Bucky couldn’t for the life of him figure out a way to ask you out. And today was no exception.
“Can I get you anything else?” You asked as you placed his regular order in front of him.
His lips were sealed tight and he shook his head furiously.
You smiled. “I’ll be around if you need me.”
You’d become quite confused, he had flirted with you a couple of times now. Cute compliments would flow out of his mouth constantly, he’d even called you beautiful once as a pet name. But maybe you had mistaken his kind words for something other than what they were.
“I’ll leave this here, whenever you’re ready.” You placed the receipt in front of him after he’d been in the diner with only his coffee for around 30 minutes.
You didn’t expect him to grab your hand, and you certainly didn’t expect the sparks that shot.
“I will not be paying this.” He said, his eyes on yours.
You furrowed your eyebrows. “If you want I can get my manager.”
“I will not be paying this.” He repeated. “Until you accept my date offer.”
You went from confused to truly shocked, and he noticed because he immediately backtracked. He slapped the palm of his hand to his forehead, mumbling under his breath.
“I am so sorry, I don’t know why I just said that. I sounded like a total creep. You obviously don’t want to go on a date with an old man like me it- it’s just I think you are beautiful but more than that you are kind and I would love- if you gave me the chance to, maybe I’m not used to this modern way of courting but I think that-“
You placed your hand over his babbling mouth. “Of course I’ll go on a date with you.”
Bucky let out a sigh he didn’t know he was holding.
“Thank god.” His muffled voice said.

Anyway I can request a Christian Cage x Female!Reader imagine where she’s married to Christian and on screen she’s paired with him & Luchasaurus onscreen as the top heel for the Women’s Division and maybe during a match with Anna Jay, Jack comes out and tries to run interference to she’ll win, but he accidentally ends up injuring the reader which reignites the feud between student and Mentor with Jack & Christian?
Pay for it
Summary: When Jack Perry helps Anna Jay win her match against Y/n he didn’t realize he dug himself his own grave when he injured Christians wife.
Word count: 739
Main Masterlist Christian Cage Masterlist
Tumblr media
I sat backstage getting checked out by one of the trainers. Fortunately I hadn’t dislocated my knee like they initially thought but I would need six stitches just above my right eyebrow. I watched Christian pace around the small room angry. “I’m going to kill that bastard” the bastard he was referring to was Jack Perry who was the reason I was in this situation.
That evening I had an eliminator match with Anna Jay for my TBS championship. Which ment if she won the match she would be granted a title opportunity. Being the biggest heel of the women's division here in AEW meant there was a lot of weight on my shoulders, yet I felt light as a feather. I was the current TBS Champion and Christian was the TNT Champion, making us the power couple of this company. I made my entrance championship in hand as I walked down to the ring, Christian on left and Luchasaurus on my right. I looked down at a nervous Anna Jay, I mean she wanted the match, she was planning her own funeral. I knew this would be a piece of cake and of course it was. I had the upper hand for the majority of the match, since I was considered a veteran within the world or pro wrestling. It meant that I served as a bit of a mentor for the young talent in AEW just like Christian. Anna was no different. I knew her moves so it was easy. I climbed to the top rope about to secure the win when I felt the ring shift. I looked behind me to notice Anna gone. I saw Jack Perry trying to start a fight with Luchasaurus. I switched my position so I could attempt a corkscrew moonsault outside of the ring, hoping to land on Jack and Anna. As I launched my body into the air I was greeted with nothing, my picture perfect corkscrew moonsault meating nothing, body landing hard as I was greeted with the floor. On the way down I tried to land on my feet noticing no one was there but of course  that was not the case. I heard the crowd gasp and could feel my body tense up, although I had done this move a million times before all it takes is a nasty landing to cause an injury. As I lied on the ground I felt someone grab me and throw me back into the ring, it was Jack. The official was too busy dealing with Christian they didn’t see Jack kick me into an exposed turnbuckle, busting open my face. Anna ended up getting the victory leaving me lying in a puddle of my own blood.
Now here I was sitting backstage getting stitches in my head. At one point Anna came in to apologize for Jack, she said she didn’t know he was going to do that and Anna felt bad. The plan was for her to get a quick roll up and get the win, creating a feud between us but the little stunt Jack pulled changed it all. Looking back at the match I watched as Anna tried to catch me on my moonsault (being a safe professional ofc) but Jack pushed her out of the way, leading me to a hard fall.
The feud between Christian and Jack had died down, it was over but this little stunt would reignite the flame that was once burnt out. My head was pounding and Christian’s angry huffing and puffing was only making it worse. “Can you please stop, my head hurts, you explaining all of the ways you are going to murder Jack is only making it worse”
Christian came up to me and examined the fresh stitches in my head. “How many stitches?” He asked me, eyes still burning with anger. “Luckily only six, it could have been way worse” I told him. I could see the gears running in his head. “Well six stitches means me killing him six times” Did we really need another mentor and student feud? “So I guess this means you are not done with him after all then?” I asked, knowing this new feud would be even more violent than the last. “Not in the slightest, he’s going to pay for this. I will show him what happens when you try to mess with my Wife!” With that he left.

Yandere headcanons for the rise boys!
Nothing overly graphic, deep or detailed will be here! Just some base heascanons!
Tumblr media
—Mikey—
He’s the baby of the boys but also knows emotions, but that being said I don’t think he would realize his own right off the bat.
He’s touchy normally but after feelings start he’s going to cling and hold on no matter what like a koala!
He wants to be touching or around you constantly. Day, night, awake, asleep, if you know he’s there or not.
Mikey would get more attached as time goes on to the point where after a few weeks his clinging evolves into stalking and constant monitoring.
He would expense his love through cooking and touch.
Everything you do seems amazing to him, he’s obsessed with you.
He would do anything you asked him to do.
That person keeps bothering you? Forget them! They won’t be able to bother you with a broken jaw!
He’s far more likely to scare and slowly separate your family and friends away from you than to hurt them. If a overly nosy family member goes missing? Oh I’m so sorry how can he help?
He’s slow to violence as a yandere but will stoop to it if need be, never against you! Everyone other than you or his family is free game though!
I doubt he would kill in front of you if possible but if push comes to shove he would not hesitate to protect you and himself
If he’s not constantly near you once he’s obsessed he’s anxious, pacing, paranoid and coming up with ways to get you to stay longer.
I doubt he would purposely harm you, he knows your not made of glass but he still worries. Besides it’s far more fun it tie you up and watch you try to escape while all wrapped up!
He’s unlikely to jump to kidnapping you unless he feels it’s necessary or that you would simply be safer and happier with him. You would be constantly with him! It would be amazing!
—Raph—
This boi is protective
Protective to an extreme degree, you will not be allowed to walk on your own if you so much as bump your knee or step on your ankle weird.
He’s going to carry you around like one of his plushies and act like your made of porcelain.
He would probably realize his feelings early on but not quite realize his obsession isn’t normal
He isn’t exactly quick to anger but his is a Raph, the anger issues may not be as evident in rise but they are there.
His anger would never be turned on you but god help anyone who has ever wronged you in the slightest.
He would probably loose himself in fights if it involved you, killing something becoming very likely the longer the fight goes on.
He would be brutal, aggressive and cruel when it comes to making those who have or wish to harm you hurt.
He would probably scare himself into kidnapping you. What if you leave one day and don’t come back? What if someone finds your apartment and hurts you? You would be safer where he could always find you!
He’s gentle with you most the time but sometimes hugs tight enough to be painful or sometimes clips you on his spines and shell
If you ever said he had hurt you he would lock you in his room with him with his plushies and blankets where it’s safe till he can find a suitable apology.
Your his most precious thing after all, no plushie or person could compare to you.
The only way to keep you safe is with him and maybe his brothers, but they’re reckless with you. Your better off sat among his plushies and pillows, comfortable and safe.
—Leo—
I feel like Leo’s main go to wouldn’t be manipulation right off the bat. He’s the face man, his going to entertain and try to make you want on your own to stay before manipulating you to stay.
Probably the second most likely to kidnap you, thinking out every way to safely get you to the sewer and every way to keep you there.
He’s the most likely to use physical violence against you, not as far as broken bones but a dislocated ankle or shoulder to keep you from trying anything a second time is worth it in his mind.
He would probably deny his feelings at the start before giving up and going out of his way to woo you.
He knows his obsession with you isn’t healthy but he can’t bring himself to care to much, as long as your his he will happily be yours.
He feels useless so he would constantly do anything you ask of him, help you reach something, beat a difficult level in a game, make a teacher/boss ‘leave’. ANYTHING
He’s going to constantly show off to you, he’s going to learn things just so he can show he new skills off to you!
He trusts his family to look after and protect you when he can’t but it upsets him if you get to close or prefer one of his brothers over him.
You belong to him after all, your his! Not his brothers, his! Your his and he’s yours. Anything other than that will not stand
If he can’t convince you to stay with him without manipulation then he will slowly start to manipulate you into believing your family and friends hate/don’t care about you.
He’ll convince you the world is out to get you and your not safe but if you stay where he can keep you safe you will be alright. Just stay with him!
Killing isn’t his go to, he would much rather mutilate them so they live knowing what they did and what they are, animals. How dare the threaten your divinity with harm. Your are his, not theres.
—Donnie—
He’s obsessed, not as much as Mikey but still obsessed.
Touching is a sensory no for him but when it comes to you it’s not so bad, bearable, desirable almost.
He wants you with him everywhere, trailing behind him when he goes to a new room or him following you everywhere you go.
He definitely takes the longest to realize his feelings and obsession. He knows his obsession is bad but will convince himself he’s not obsessed and what he’s feeling is rational.
One of the first things he ever did was bug and track your phone. How can he protect you if he doesn’t know where you are after all!
Gifts! He constantly gives you gifts. Whether they’re for your or his benefit doesn’t matter!
A digital wristlet like his so you can contact them directly with a built in panic button! Cool now he knows your safe and where you are at all times, built in tranquilizer in case something goes wrong and he can always see you!
He’s the most likely to kidnap you, the thought would come to him randomly and he would latch on to it. Imagine having you with him constantly, listening to him and actually seeing him.
He would probably get the bear basics before kidnapping you on a whim, just wanting you with him already.
If he ever decided you were going to cuddle with him you would not be able to leave until he was done. Doesn’t matter if your uncomfortable, he’s going to take what he can get.
He’s likely to use physical violence against you, not in an attempt to actually harm you but if you ever try to escape or harm him or his brothers he’ll do anything to restrain you and keep you safe.
Your just scared, once you realize he just wants you with him you’ll stop fighting

ok ok a more specific one now that i know, a fic short or long you decide where bullrider!graves get injured (damn 8 second ride addiction) but its not all bad like just a dislocated shoulder or knee and paramedic volunteer!reader is on the scene and basically just heals him right then and there
thx man !!
a/n: Ooo, interesting plot! I’m not the best at writing fic’s so if this took a while to post im so so so sorry
Tumblr media
Graves:
of course it was him to have to get hurt, and now he’s stuck in a stupid bench waiting for a medic because of it.
he didn’t even think his arm was that damaged, it’s not like he couldn’t have finished the ride with it hurt. The only reason he even agreed to get off of the bull when he heard the pop of his shoulder was because he hoped the paramedic was at least someone he could take out to dinner.
luckily enough for him, he was right- you were stunning in his eyes, and every touch against his skin as you assessed his injury made his nerves light up like fireworks.
you hadn’t even said anything to him yet and he was already utterly smitten. He had practically forgotten about his shoulder and the rodeo at this point.
so, like any cowboy should; he slipped his number on a note into your pocket. Hoping that you would call him back before he ended up having to get injured just to see you again.

Ok so this post is from a while ago but i just saw it and am wondering if you would want to write something based on it? Or just about trauma response in general?
Tumblr media
Fic O'Ween Day 8: Shiver. Credit to @lumosinlove for the SW-verse and @noots-fic-fests for the header + prompts!
TW for trauma response to canon injury (Remus')--flashback, panic attack symptoms; and broken bone.
Call for stretcher on standby before moving out. Careful on the patch by the bench—always extra slippery. Check pulse and breath, then pupil constriction. Pen light in the shirt pocket. Players take a knee to make space. Use your body to block the camera in the right corner.
Remus knew what he was supposed to do. Of course he did. He just…couldn’t move.
“EMTs on standby!”
This was a strange feeling, not moving. It wasn’t even that—a choice. It was a complete and total absence. What was the opposite? Stillness? He didn’t feel still. He didn’t feel as if something had taken the place of motion. A gap had been scooped out of his belly, and nothing had come to fill it. It was simple emptiness where there had been adrenaline five seconds before.
“Lupin, catch up on Vance’s left!”
Had his ears always rung at that pitch? Funny. He hadn’t noticed.
“Lupin!”
Perhaps they had. Perhaps someone in the crowd had brought a whistle. There were an awful lot of people crowding the rink.
“Hey—” Weight and pressure collided with the back of his neck. Remus felt something in him go dim, powered off. “Kid, let’s fucking go! Are you asleep out here?”
James’ feet were flexing in his skates. Restriction of the tibialis anterior from the pain. Vastus medialis, following. His knee bent and bowed inward. If he kept the writhing up, there would be strain on the gastrocnemius and soleus. Remus blinked hard. James’ legs tended to ache after practice. The man got calf cramps like nobody he’d ever seen.
“Jesus Christ,” the hand on his neck muttered. It moved away. Pressure released.
“Rapid breathing, strain in the calf,” Remus blurted. His eye twitched. Blinking took incredible effort. “He’s going to try and stand up. Stop, James, stop it—”
Careful on the patch by the bench. He sidestepped without a second thought. In two strides, he was looking at James’ flushed and sweaty face. “Holy fuck, my fuckin’ arm, on fucking fire—”
“Pots.” His neck was burning up under Remus’ two fingers. Ten seconds, 25 thumps. “150 bpm,” Remus informed the nearest trainer. The pen light was ice-cold in his fingers. “James, give me a big deep breath.”
“Loops—”
“I’ll count to four while you breathe in, and then we’re gonna let it out for four.” His own voice reverberated back to him from a thousand miles away. Ice dampened the knees of his khakis. James gritted his teeth; his nostrils flared. “One, two, three, four. Good job. And four, three, two, one. Nice, buddy. Pupil activity normal, breathing unimpaired. You said it was your arm, right? Up or down?”
“All of it,” James panted. “All—fuck me, Loops, don’t talk to me right now—”
“Almost done, J. Wiggle your fingers.” A faint roaring had started up in the back of his mind. It crept into his eardrums and down his back. Something trickled down his spine and tiptoed through the marrow of each rib. James’ fingers twitched. “Great work. Alright, they’re going to slide you onto the stretcher now. Keep taking those big breaths for me.”
Black, Dumais, and Walker were all hovering in the corner of his eye like crimson-and-black bloodstains. They blurred together as the roaring grew louder. Remus staggered to his feet. His pen light wobbled in his fingers, and he shoved it clumsily into his back pocket. Black stepped forward, quiet as a ghost on his skates. “Is he okay?”
“Um—I don’t—” The left edge of his vision blurred into grey. “I don’t diagnose. Possible elbow dislocation. Or radial or ulnar break. Likely not the humerus.”
“But is he okay?” Black pressed. The stretcher was so yellow against the ice it hurt to look at.
Remus’ throat squeezed. “Yeah, he’ll be okay. Probably out for a couple games. ‘Scuse me.”
Christ on a crutch, he was going to throw up if he didn’t get out of here right fucking now.
Black wasn’t looking at him anymore. Walker was talking to James as they loaded him up and began rolling him off the ice. Dumais…
Dumais was staring at him dead-on. Remus swallowed hard, and saw him lean over to whisper at Moody.
Would he—could they fire him for this? He thought he did okay. Pulse, pupils, penlight, ice patch. Four for four. He had been slow getting off the bench, but that was an abnormality. Nothing they needed to be concerned about for the future. There wouldn’t be a repeat performance. There wouldn’t, there wouldn’t.
He couldn’t feel his knees.
Moody was walking toward him.
Remus just barely managed to stumble back onto solid ground in the wake of the stretcher before Moody caught up. Barely. The flex of his hands was starting to hurt. Sweat and chemicals and terror washed his nose with acid.
“Lupin?”
He could feel plasticky foam on his cheek. It itched. Stung.
“Hey, kid, you with me?”
In the distance, his mouth coughed out a mumble. Fingers snapped under his nose. He couldn’t bring himself to flinch. If he flinched, the hands on his body were going to wrench his life out through his shoulder.
“Walk with me.”
Pressure on his upper back. A lurch.
Pale wood door. Heavy lock. Cold handle. Man door hand hook car door. Jules thought that was the funniest ghost story in the whole world.
“Sit.”
It was less of a sit, more of a controlled fall, and the easiest thing Remus had done in the past half hour. Something heavy fell over his shoulders.
“Hand.”
Man door hand hook car door.
Rough hands took one of his own between them. His wrist was full of gel instead of bones. Cooling gel? Ice pack. James was going to need—“Ice packs. Pots needs ice packs.”
His palm was clammy when it pressed to the base of his own throat. “We’ll have some ready when the docs are done.”
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. “160 bpm.”
“Take some breaths.”
An inhale sounded gaspy in the underwater buzz of the rink. An exhale rushed out all at once. He felt a little push to the back of his hand, and his fingers curled over his collarbone. The heel of his palm was solid against his sternum. The hollow of his throat gave slightly under his thumb. “130 bpm.”
“Keep going.”
“My neck.”
Extensive damage. Rhomboid. Deltoid. Trapezius. All the way into the splenius, though he wasn’t sure if that was from the hit or the dislocation or being pinned. A seat of salt poured into his mouth. He could taste it, the inside of a glove and the chemicals they used to clean the locker room mats. His head throbbed, pounded, he couldn’t see.
“145 bpm.”
“What’s wrong with your neck?”
“Strain potential whiplash impact.” Words tripped over each other to explain with complexity the situation did not need.
The hand over his own vanished, leaving cool air. Fingertips pushed gently against the sides of his neck. “Keep breathing, Lupin.”
A thumb ran along the outside of his spine and the floor came into focus. Prodding, palpating. Gentle despite the rasp of calluses at his nape. Steady, not gripping. He could pull away if he wanted to.
“I don’t feel damage.” A push beneath his ear. “Just some tension. Rate?”
Remus exhaled. “110.”
“Good work.”
“Thank you.”
“You interns and your manners,” Moody muttered. A few blinks brought his face back, all scrutiny and scowls. Remus had learned not to take it personally. “Relax, Lupin. Hand stays there until you’re under a hundred, you hear me?”
“Mhm.”
He was so lucky. He was so lucky. They were so kind to him here. He would try to deserve it.
“I’m sorry.”
Moody stood and pumped some sanitizer into his palm. The sharp tang chased out the bitter chemicals lingering in Remus’ memory. He sat back in his rolling chair, half-watching the game on the corner TV while his glass eye remained focused just over Remus’ shoulder. “Why?”
“Froze up.”
Moody set his bad leg up on a footstool with a grunt. “Rate?”
“90.”
“Where’d you go out there?”
A locker room, two years and a thousand miles away. “College.”
“Bad hit?”
Remus took a shaky breath. “Yeah.”
Moody nodded. “Gonna be a problem?”
“Shouldn’t.”
“Tell me if it is.” On the screen, Kasey made a beautiful save. “You’re not in trouble.”
“I’m sorry.” Sweat was beginning to freeze on his skin; he shivered. He took his palm off his neck and tucked it under his thighs, but missed the pressure above his heart almost instantly. The light blanket over his back wasn’t much more than a thin comfort. “I just—I don’t know. I didn’t know that would happen.”
“You’re young. You learn.”
“James was down.”
“It was five seconds, Lupin.” Moody’s voice wasn’t gentle, but it wasn’t cruel, either. “You did your job. Now you know.”
The back of his throat prickled. He managed a nod.
“You know, Heather is a resource for all Lions staff.”
It’s not that simple, he wanted to say. But—it could be. Maybe. Not right now, when he was teetering on the tightrope between two worlds, but soon. He could do that for Moody and James and Arthur and maybe, just a little, for himself.

every dancer has their bad days. but when those bad days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months, suddenly your entire dance season has been nothing but awful. that’s how your previous season went, and this year hasn’t been any different either. you weren’t chosen for any of the small groups this year for any competition. you didn’t even dare to dream of a solo, even when you had one just a few years ago.
you used to be at the top, one of the coaches favourites. you’ve danced at bloom dance academy since you were three, and had gained a good reputation at the studio over the years. though, now that seems so far in the past. you were in a deep slump, one that you couldn’t get out of no matter how much you practiced. you think you’d do anything to love dancing again the way you used to.
you were currently at the studio, waiting for the full group rehearsal to start, while one of the small groups was going over their dance with coach momo. you were sitting in a corner alone, while others were socialising or going through other dances on their own. your eyes were completely fixated on one particular dancer, one that probably made you more insecure than any other – sung hanbin.
hanbin was basically your complete opposite. he only started dancing in middle school, and joined bloom dance academy only last season. everyone around him loved him, and rightfully so, as hanbin was truly amazing. his body control and facial expressions were something you could only dream of right now. his skills didn’t come out of nowhere though, everyone knew how hard he worked. and unlike you, his hard work paid off.
looking at hanbin made you feel horrible about yourself, but you couldn’t look away. he was so mesmerising to you, the way he carried himself through choreography, and how he helped those around him. you were in too deep thought to notice a couple of your teammates approaching you. it took for one of them to speak for you to finally notice your friends. “y/n, did you hear about yeji?” your teammate matthew asked you as he sat down next to you.
“no i haven’t, did something happen?” you responded, finally taking your eyes off of hanbin. you noticed besides matthew, chaeryeong and ryujin had approached you. “she injured her knee really badly at practice yesterday, she’s still at the doctors, they’re trying to figure out what’s wrong” chaeryeong opened up, clearly worried for her friend. injuries at this point of the season were the worst, but they happen every time. last year jiwoong dislocated his elbow a week before competition and all formations had to be redone.
“that doesn’t sound too good” you said, taking a sip from your water bottle. yeji won’t recover in time for the competition in four weeks, you assumed. not only will you have to redo all the formations for the full group performance and for her small group, your team will need a new female soloist and a duet partner for hanbin as well. “yeah, she’s out” ryujin confirmed your suspicions. “momo asked me for the solo, but i don’t think i can do it” she continued, brushing her hand through her hair.
“i feel so bad for yeji, but at least there's a little more time than last year” matthew said in an attempt to lighten the mood. his comment did get a few chuckles out of you.
after a moment of silence, ryujin spoke once again. “how about you y/n? could you do the solo?” ryujin asked a question that almost made you laugh. “coach would never even consider me, and… i don’t even have anything ready” you replied lowering your head in shame. it was true though, you were probably the last person momo would consider as yeji’s replacement for anything.
“okay guys! let’s start going over the new formations!” your coach declared, clapping her hands to get the whole room's attention.

ii. y/n coming to the rescue!
you were exhausted, just like everyone else in the room. your coach had said “one more time” at least ten times tonight, but finally practice had officially come to an end. today’s rehearsal had gladly eased most people's minds from yeji’s injury. however, you could only worry about your own performance, as today’s practice had barely helped you improve at all. you were packing your stuff, as you heard your coach calling your name. “hey y/n, could i talk to you for a second?” momo asked.
your mind could only think of the worst. momo was going to tell you that you’re cut from the full group completely, because you can’t get your shit together. it made sense, today’s new formations were going to look better with one less dancer, and obviously you were the first in line to go. you tried to hide your nervousness, answering her with a hum. you stuffed the last of your things into your bag and walked to your coach. “yeah, is this about the full group?” you went straight to the point.
“actually no” she started, sitting down on a chair. you were relieved, but only partly, as you had no idea where the conversation was going. “it’s about yeji’s and hanbin’s duet” momo continued, your coach visibly stressed. you could only imagine what had been going through her head the past 24 hours since yeji’s injury. she let out a loud sigh. “y/n i know you’ve had quite rough year, but i think it could be a great challenge for you”
“what do you mean? sorry coach, i’m not following” you questioned. she couldn't possibly be offering you a spot in a duet, let alone one with hanbin.
“you should do the duet with hanbin, i think you could handle it” momo said hopefully. she took your hands into hers, looking at you with pleading eyes. it was almost working, but something in you couldn't agree to it. you couldn’t possibly handle the duet, not when someone else could do a much better job than you. “i don’t know momo…” you responded.
“hanbin! please convince her to do the duet with you” momo suddenly said, her eyes leaving yours. while your talk with the coach, you had failed to notice the presence of hanbin behind you. you freed yourself from momo’s hold as you turned around to see the boy. “i just think someone else would be a much better match for the duet, i’ve seen it myself” you tried to reason.
“no! i think you’d be perfect!” hanbin said, which felt like an exaggeration to you. truthfully, you’d love to do a duet with someone so amazing as hanbin, you would be dumb not to, but your insecurities were holding you back. the duet was difficult, and with the little time you had, you weren’t sure if you could pick it up. few years ago it would’ve been easy, but now you weren’t so sure. “c’mon y/n, i need you” he begged.
“you don’t have any other dances besides the full group, so you’ll have enough time to rehearse” momo added. you looked at both of them, the two of them looking at you hopefully. while you still didn't quite understand why they were so determined to get you to do the duet, you were beginning to yield to them.
“well, when would we start then?” you asked carefully. your words made both of them squeal out of joy. hanbin wrapped his hands around you and squished you into a hug. “thank you thank you thank you” he rejoiced, spinning you around in the air. you weren’t sure if this was going to work, but having people who believed in you definitely helped.

iii. cries and confessions
the duet was not going well, at least not as well as it should be at this point. you had rehearsed for almost a week with hanbin, and while you had picked up some of the choreography, most of it was still not clicking for you. hanbin had been more than patient with you, but his patience wasn’t getting you that far.
you groaned out of frustration for the thirtieth time in the past hour. you were having difficulty with your footwork for a fast part in the choreography, and no matter how many times hanbin went slowly over it, you were not getting the timing right. “y/n it’s okay, you’ll get it eventually” he tried comforting you once again. you sighed, wiping the sweat off your forehead. “no hanbin, i’m not getting it” you snapped back, your words coming out much harsher than you intended. “i’m sorry, i just- i hate that i can’t seem to get anything right” you apologised, covering your face with your hands out of embarrassment.
“do you wanna talk about it?” he asked carefully. you’ve been asked this question many times over the past two years. your teammates, momo, your parents, even the studio head, jongin had asked you if you needed to talk about whatever mental block you were going through. but you never did, because there wasn’t anything to talk about, at least that’s how you felt, and you told hanbin that. “you sure? i mean there’s clearly something going on… i get it if you don’t want to talk to me about it, but i’m here for you if you need me” he responded to you.
“what would you even know? you joined the studio after my good days” you mumbled, choosing to sit down onto the dance floor, not expecting hanbin to hear you. the boy sat down next to you, sitting close to you, your shoulders almost touching. the close proximity shouldn’t have made your heart race the way it did, at least not after dancing so close to each other for hours to an end for the past week.
“i saw your solo couple years ago at a competition, and i thought you were amazing” he confessed. hanbin was looking at you delicately, his words filled with sincerity. you never thought someone so skilled and awesome dancer like hanbin would ever say something like that to you. “you’re pretty much the reason i'm here, at bloom” he continued, his words making you speechless. “i mean, if the studio had someone as cool as you, the teachers must be something too” hanbin kept rambling, getting slightly shy over his confession, his cheeks flushed.
hanbin’s confession made you feel appreciated and sad at the same time. your eyesight was getting blurry from the tears that were about to break through. “well, that was me few years ago” you started, trying your hardest not to start crying in front of him. you locked eyes with him and he was looking at you with sorrowness. “and this is me now, someone that can barely keep up with everyone” your voice cracked, tears finally sliding down your cheeks.
hanbin didn’t say anything after that. he wrapped his hand around shoulders, lowering your head to rest on his chest. he just held you as you sobbed. it was slightly uncomfortable, the two of you were still sweaty from practice, but you couldn’t care about that for now. you were starting to calm down as hanbin stroked your arm up and down. you brought your hands to wipe out your tears, apologising to the boy for drenching his shirt even more. “i’m just wasting our time by crying like this” you said.
“it’s okay y/n, you know, sometimes letting your emotions out can help you to move on” hanbin claimed, smiling softly at you. letting go of your shoulder, he brushed some of your hair behind your ear. “should we end practice for today? i could drive you home if you’d like” the boy suggested.
“i think i’d rather walk and cool down a little, but thanks” you gave hanbin a weak smile and started getting up. he seemed to take your word, as he got up as well and started cleaning up the practice room with you. the room was filled with comfortable silence, and you were glad you had someone like hanbin to rely on.

iv. nothing happened!
after your heart to heart with hanbin, rehearsals had started to go much smoother. some days were better than others, but at least you weren’t pouring out your frustration onto him. aside from a few lifts, you two had finished the whole choreography, and you felt good about it. even momo was pleased with your work, after you had shown her your progress. while the duet was still far from perfect, you and hanbin were confident you could do well at the competition.
hanbin had also become more friendly with you over the past few weeks. he always greeted you with a hug, asked how you were doing, and kept insisting on driving you home after you were done, which was something you could no longer deny. he’d come up to you during practice if he ever noticed you frustrated, cheering you up and giving you much needed advice, while also offering to refill your water bottle. thanks to hanbin, you were slowly starting to enjoy dance again, and you think you’ll be forever grateful to him for that.
it was late friday night, only you and hanbin were left at the studio. hanbin had convinced you to stay for another hour to practice one of the lifts for your duet. while you thought it would be safer to practice with momo around, hanbin assured you he wouldn’t let you get hurt. so there you were, forty minutes later, probably at your hundred attempt of the lift. you had never been the best at any tricks or lifts, and at this point you didn’t think you'd ever quite get them.
however, hanbin was determined to get the lift right before you went home. “it’s not that hard y/n” he said, his hands on both sides of your hips. there was no hint of impatience in his voice, while he looked at you with such care. “easy for you to say, mr. i’m perfect at everything” you teased, getting a laugh out of him.
“hey! none of that!” he scolded you with a pout. “just trust me, i’m gonna catch you no matter what, okay?” he continued, squeezing your hips for reassurance. you only nodded, and on the count of three, hanbin lifted you in the air again. everything was going well, until you felt one of your hands slip, and the next moment you were laying on top of habin on the floor.
his hands were tightly wrapped around your body, and you could feel his heart beating fast into his chest. hanbin’s face was mere centimetres away from yours. “oh my god! are you okay?” you worried, trying to get off of him, but his grip only tightened. the act made you stop in your tracks, your cheeks warming up. “h-hanbin” you stuttered, now worried the boy had hit his head or something.
“see? i said i wasn’t going to let you hit the floor” he only laughed. sighing out of relief, you brushed his bangs out of the way of his eyes. hanbin looked beautiful, even when he was all worn out from the hours of practice. you’ve always thought so, but now seeing it up close you were certain about it. he smiled at you, showing off his famous whisker dimples. you smiled back, as your hands laid against his chest. you noticed his eyes travelling down your face, to your lips, and at that moment you couldn’t stop yourself from hesitantly leaning into him.
“oh sorry, didn’t know you guys were still here” you heard a voice coming from the door. being snapped back to reality, hanbin finally let go of you. you standed up and helped hanbin to do the same, the two of you now recognizing the person that had entered the room as jiwoong. “did i interrupt something?” his voice was filled with amusement.
“no not at all, we were just about to finish” hanbin’s whole face and neck hued the colour pink, as he spitted out the biggest lie of his life.

v. flirting 101
you couldn’t stop thinking about hanbin all weekend, how the two of you almost kissed if only jiwoong hadn’t interrupted you. when did you even start liking him?
while you could’ve just texted him, you never found the right thing to send. what were you supposed to say to him? you thought about asking for advice from some of your teammates but eventually decided against it, knowing they wouldn’t have anything smart to say. you could almost hear chaeryeong’s teasing words just thinking about it.
you had yet to find time to rehearse your duet together, as hanbin needed time to practice his solo. you had tried to talk to him multiple times, but snitched out last second each time, claiming that it was only because you couldn’t bother him at the moment. in reality, you felt nervous around him. you don’t remember the last time you’ve felt this way towards someone, let alone almost kissed someone.
you had stayed at the studio after practice to help momo with your team’s costumes for the competition. it seemed that you struggled with saying no when someone asks for your help. it was late again, the studio nearly empty, when you were finally ready to go home. walking towards the exit, you noticed one of the practice rooms was still in use. curiosity getting the best of you, you decided to take a look at who was still practicing at the late hour. in the room was hanbin, rehearsing alone again.
hanbin was fully focused on the music, his body hitting every beat of the song. the way he moved was captivating to you, like he was putting some type of spell on you. it wasn’t that surprising that you fell for him so easily. you thought hanbin was the most beautiful when he was in his element, when he danced.
he was too concentrated to notice you at the door. as the song came to an end, he was completely out of breath. you couldn’t help but to clap, finally revealing yourself to the boy. the act made hanbin burst out of his own bubble, seeing you in the mirror first, giving you a tired smile before turning around. “that was amazing” you praised the boy as you fully stepped into the room.
“thank you” hanbin shyly responded, walking towards his stuff and taking a towel to wipe the sweat out of his face. you went up to him and offered him his water bottle. he smiled at you before speaking up again, “what are you still doing here this late?” his voice was filled with worry, but he was still glad to see you regardless.
“you should worry about yourself” you replied, your comment getting a small chuckle out of him. hanbin seemed tired, his eyes sleepy and hair all over the place. he must’ve had a lot of pressure on him, when so many people were counting on him to do well. you took a step closer to the boy, reaching up to fix his hair. “you’re doing great hanbin” you felt the need to reassure him, his face finally relaxing from your touch. after a while of playing with his hair, you lowered your hand to his cheek, wiping the last of sweat that was left.
“i didn’t take you for a touchy person” hanbin said teasingly, making you quickly retreat your hand from his face. your cheeks started to warm up from embarrassment. was this how you acted when you liked someone? you made an attempt at hiding by turning your face away. the boy in front of you just giggled, mumbling about how cute you were being.
“do you have time tomorrow? to practice our duet i mean” you asked, trying to change the subject.
“hmm, let me think about that” hanbin pretended to think about your question for a while. “yes! but only on one condition” he said with a mischievous smile. his behaviour made you suspicious, you had yet to get used to hanbin’s playful side. hanbin took your confused face as a sign to continue, “when we win with our duet, i can take you on a date”
his straightfulness caught you off guard, but you couldn’t hold back the smile that broke into your face. knowing there were mutual feelings between the two of you gave you butterflies in your stomach. there was a hint of nervousness in hanbin, so you didn’t want to keep him waiting for an answer for too long. “if we win” you said, emphasising the word if.
“so it’s a date?” his wide smile matched yours. you nodded as confirmation, and before you knew it, hanbin quickly embraced you in his arms. you laughed how gross and sweaty he was, as he leaned back to look at you, with a pout on his lips.
“let’s go home then, i’ll drive you.”

vi. heartbreaks
your heart dropped the moment you saw yeji walk into the studio, her knee seemingly fine. everyone was shocked to see her going into jongin’s office. it was one week before the competition, and no one knew what yeji’s return could mean for the team. were jongin and momo going to let her dance? what could that mean for you and hanbin’s duet? you couldn’t hear their conversation where you were, and the suspense was killing you.
deciding you could no longer sit around waiting, you went over to the office door to eavesdrop. “we finally got the formation to work for the full group! we can’t just go and change them all over again for you!” momo’s voice said, notably worked up by yeji’s sudden appearance. yeji kept on pleading for the two to let her come, as she didn’t want to miss the competition, “then at least let me do the rest!”
“i don’t think it’d be fair for the others, ryujin has worked hard on the solo” jongin tried to explain.
“i already talked with everyone! ryujin, hanbin, they’re all okay with it!” yeji claimed.
hearing hanbin’s name mentioned made you freeze on your spot. your insecurities were starting to creep in again, your mind filled up with questions. did hanbin rather do the duet yeji instead? when did they even talk about it together? it hadn’t even been twelve hours since you last saw him.
maybe hanbin was relieved after hearing that yeji was okay. he had a much bigger chance to win with her than with you. maybe this whole time you’ve just been one big project to him, while he waited for yeji to get better.
you thought you were already over all this, being the second choice – but no, you weren’t even an option at this point. the past weeks have been the first time in years when you’ve felt great when you danced. you felt like you had finally improved, able to move on from your slump. you must’ve been just a joke to him, to everyone. tears were falling down your cheeks, your chest feeling too tight to breathe.
“there you are y/n!” you heard a very familiar voice calling you, but you couldn’t even move to see him. hanbin sounded out of breath as he finally approached you. “i was looking for you, there’s something i need to tell you” he continued, putting his hand on your shoulder. his touch finally made you shift, as you moved out of the boy's touch, you saw his concerned face. you could only watch him for a second, before you knew you had to get out of there.
“good luck with that duet” you said before taking your leave.

vii. making up and making …out?
since getting cut off from the duet, you've been avoiding hanbin like plague all week. he had tried to talk to you multiple times, but you ran off each time. you’ve tried to distract yourself by practicing on your own, and offering to help chaeryeong, matthew and jiwoong with their trio. it only helped you for awhile, because most times hanbin would show up and try to explain himself. you don’t know how many times you’ve told him to just focus on the competition instead of running after you.
you weren’t really mad at him, it wasn’t his fault that yeji came back. deep down you knew he probably had an explanation for everything, he wouldn’t have tried to talk to you otherwise. after calming down you could no longer blame yeji for losing your duet either, you would’ve likely done the same thing if you were her. she worked hard too, even to the point of injuring herself. you were mostly just mad at yourself, embarrassed how you’ve handled the whole thing, and letting your insecurities get the best of you again.
it was the last day of competition, and you were sitting in the audience, as you didn’t have any dances left. there was a small break between the small group category and the solos. your team did well, however, you could tell something was off with hanbin as he danced. it wasn’t something the judges could notice, but you knew hanbin, and something was clearly off. you were worried, but you didn’t think it would be a good idea to talk to him right now, as he was somewhere probably getting ready for his solo.
“hi, can i sit with you?” you were surprised to see yeji out here in the audience, let alone approaching you of all people. you nodded as a response, and she sat down next to you. there was an awkward silence between the two of you. you thought about what you should say to her, if you were even supposed to. both of you sat stiff, looking everywhere but each other. “shouldn’t you be getting ready for your solo?” you tried testing the waters.
“i’m not doing it” she replied, her hands gripping the corners of her chair, as she looked down to her legs. it quickly got quiet again, neither of you saying anything. you wondered if yeji’s knee wasn’t as fine as she made it seem or if something else was going on. yeji didn’t let you think for long as she finally spoke again, “i couldn’t take it away from ryujin…”
“but you could take it from me?” your words coming out of your mouth more harshly than you intended. regretting what you said, you shook your head, telling yeji to forget what you just said.
“no y/n, i should’ve asked you first, i’m sorry” she interrupted you. “i just- i was so excited to dance again… too excited even, i failed to notice that hanbin would’ve much rather danced with you. but you know him, he’s too nice to say anything” yeji explained, the last bit making you both chuckle. you were glad yeji apologised to you, even when you were never angry with her in the first place.
“do you really think that? that he would’ve rather danced with me?” you asked, wanting to believe what she said, you just needed some more reassurance.
“obviously! i might not have been around when the two of you got closer but i’ve heard some stories from jiwoong and chaeryeong” she teased, nudging your shoulder. your cheeks blushed, as you figured yeji was referring to the night jiwoong had caught you two almost kissing at the studio. “i bet he’s already halfway through choreographing your duet for next season” she continued. yeji’s words made you feel shy and giddy, they gave you the sudden urge to see him, to talk to him.
“i think i should go find him” you stood up from your seat, looking around for the fastest route to your team’s dressing room. yeji gave you an encouraging push, telling you to hurry before he needs to go up on stage.
you ended up finding hanbin before you even got to the dressing room. you found him warming up close to the stage, already in his costume. he noticed you coming right away, giving you a small smile and a wave. saying your hello’s, you stopped awkwardly few steps away from him. “how are you feeling?” you asked carefully, not sure how he’d react to you suddenly showing up.
“i’m okay, just a little nervous” he answered quietly, continuing his stretching. you just stood there, awkwardly, not knowing what to say. you didn’t really plan ahead when you suddenly decided to find him. hanbin got up, now fully looking at you, but he didn’t say anything like you hoped he would. the two of you just stared at one another, neither knowing what to say. you could no longer bear the silence, so you finally spoke, “i’m sorry.”
“no, i’m sorry, i should’ve talked to you” hanbin took your hands to his, holding onto them like his life depended on it. his eyes were sorrowful, all this must have pained him the past week, and it was mostly your fault.
“i mean you tried to…” you reminded him, hoping that he would stop blaming himself. he let out an airy laugh, a smile finally breaking to his face. announcement could be heard in the background, telling everyone that the solo category would be starting in a few minutes, and you could see hanbin tense up.
“you’re going to kill it, don’t worry” you reassured him, deciding to embrace the boy in a hug. he wrapped his arms around in a second, squeezing you tight. “you think so?” he mumbled next to your ear.
“hanbin, let’s go!” you could hear jongin yell from a distance. you took a look at hanbin, not quite ready to let go yet. “yes, and i’ll be right here watching” you said, with one more thing in your mind that you thought would help him. you looked around your surroundings, hoping that jongin wouldn’t be looking, before doing something you should’ve done weeks ago. you leaned in and kissed the boy, wrapping your arms around his neck.
hanbin kissed you back after a moment of shock, and you could feel him smile against your lips. parting ways, the two of you now giggling like little kids. “I’ll be back” he let go of you, starting to walk towards jongin, who had an amused smile on his face.
to put it simply, hanbin had never danced as well as he did then, and he was sure it was all thanks to you.

viii. lets dance
“are your eyes closed?” hanbin asked you for the fifth time, as he was moving you towards his surprise. it had been a few days since the competition, and today hanbin had been acting really suspicious. you were informed by matthew that you should stay at the studio after practice, and he left without telling you why. your questions were finally answered, when hanbin started dragging you out of the dressing room, putting his hands in front of your eyes.
“yes, you’ve made sure of it” you answered, acting bothered by his antics. “okay okay, but no lurking!” he said excitingly, helping you to get over a higher threshold. you could tell you had entered one of the practice rooms, but you had no idea what hanbin had planned. you two stopped walking, and hanbin finally let you open your eyes, “you can open now!”
once you did open them, you wouldn't believe what laid in front your eyes. the entire room was decorated with fairy lights all over the room. the view was beautiful, and you were in complete awe. you never thought hanbin would do something like this. “hanbin…” you were completely speechless.
“shh, that’s not all” he said, as a familiar song started playing from the speakers. you turned to hanbin as you recognized the song, it was the song for your duet. he smiled at you, offering you his hand. “dance with me”  he said quietly. you took his hand without hesitation, and he pulled you into the middle of the dance floor. you started dancing the choreography, the room filling up with laugh and giggles.
dancing with hanbin just felt right. it made you feel at ease, moves coming easily to you as the two of you spinned around the dance floor. you never wanted this moment to end, that’s how much you were enjoying it. for a long time you haven’t enjoyed dance as much as you did right now, with hanbin. and suddenly it hit you – you loved dancing again.
…and maybe you loved hanbin too.
