Human Illustrator Wally x Reader (part 2)
Fun fact: I like to listen to music that fits the vibes of what I'm writing and I wanted something more cheery an whimsical for this... but my dumb brain likes sad/creepy music and I couldn't find anything I liked that was truly happy, so I ended up listening to Bo en's My Time while writing this.
TW: None
🐻 When you arrive at the daycare, you quickly show everybody the book. Opening it to the back page, where he signed it, you see his name scribbled down. It is slightly messy, with all the letters being capitals and the "L"'s being slightly sideways. From what you can tell, it fits his silly little personality.
🐻 However, right as you begin showing everyone the book, you remember that some of the kids won't be able to see it that well, if at all... Oh no, now you feel like garbage...
🐻 One of those exact kids, a little girl related to Howdy, the local store owner, asks "Can I hold the book? I wanna see if something I heard works!" You grow quiet, before saying "Sure." To your surprise, all of the kids are watching and whispering "Right... Let's see if it works..." What in the world are they talking about?
🐻 She holds the book in her hands, which you made sure to keep opened to the signature. She runs her hands across it, before she makes it to the signature. She flinches, before gently pushing down on it. Her little face beams with the joy of a thousand summers as she chirps "He cares! I can feel it! I can feel his name! Johnny! Johnny, get over here!" "You're right, Henny!"
🐻 You are shocked, as well as a bit confused. You don't understand and want to investigate, but you want to wait for the children to calm down and let them have their fun. Even a few of the children with no visual impairments are pressing their hands on the book, chirping that they can feel it, too. You have an idea as to what it could be, but you want to check, first.
🐻Henny calls you over "Ms./Mr./Mx. (Y/N)! Come on! Feel it! I know that you probably didn't think to do so because you can see it, which is alright, but it's so cool!" You gently take the book, staring at the signature, before placing your fingers on his name. Your suspicions are confirmed as you grin.
🐻 While writing his name, he must've pressed the pen down hard enough to leave an indent to let all the kids be able to experience his signature. "Wow... Henny, how were you able to tell he would do this?" Henny, as well as the other kids, all start speaking over one another. You can hear Henny's voice over the rest, though, as she practically shouts with pride "My dad is friends with him! He constantly talks about how Wally does things like that for kids! My dad was the one who gave Wally that idea!"
🐻 You look down at her, expecting the other kids to tell her that she is lying, however, they go along with her claims. "I saw Mr. Wally at his store a few months ago with my mama! He tries to do that thing where people dress up as someone else, but his blue hair is very recognizable!" "Yeah! He helped me reach that apple toy on the top shelf! He then got another one and bought it for himself!" "Howdy is so cool for knowing celebrities!" "Doesn't Wally also know Ms. Poppy, that baker? I saw a show where she baked a cake in the shape of one of the bears he drew!" "I heard Mr. Wally gets his clothes from Julie's Joyous Clothes Company and is friends with Julie Joyful, herself!" Slowly, but surely, the talks about Mr. Darling and Howdy knowing each other turns into children's gossip about which famous people Mr. Darling does and does not know.
🐻 You think about the number in your pocket, subconsciously placing your hand over it. You don't know enough to know if any of their gossip is true... But you have the means to find out more about the mysterious, cheerful man. You can also make these kids so happy by having him visit! They can ask him questions about what they want to know, too!
🐻 Mr. Abbott walks into the recreation room, smiling as he asks you "Looks like these kids have Darling Fever, eh, (Y/N)? Do you want to go outside to relax? It is, technically, your day off today. Andy can take it from here." You giggle at the words "Darling Fever", before nodding. "Yeah. I actually want to talk to you about something, if you don't mind."
🐻 The two of you walk outside, sitting on the bench at the front of the daycare. You take out the paper from your pocket, saying "Mr. Darling gave me his number to call if you ever want him to visit the daycare." He gasps, looking at you "He... gave you his number? That's amazing! Wait, why are you trying to hand it to me?" You tilt your head and you hold it out to him "Well... you own the daycare? So it would make sense for you to call?"
🐻 He shakes his head quickly "No, no... he gave YOU his number! He very rarely gives out his number to people. I don't know why, but I think it might be that he doesn't trust many people with it. So, I can only assume he gave it to you because he trusts YOU. If I called, he might be uncomfortable." You look down at the paper, asking "Really...? There is so much I don't know about him. Should I call to see if he can visit? He must be a busy man... I don't want to bother him while he is doing something."
🐻"It's now or never. I know you. You'll be too nervous to call if you don't do it now." You smile, taking out your phone and calling the number on the paper. It beeps a few times, before somebody picks up and says "Hello?"
🐻 You take a deep breath. You can hear the voices of the crowd at his book signing in the background. You must've called during it... You hesitate, before saying "Hello! Umm... Is Mr. Darling there? I am from the Apple Castle Learning Center. He gave me his number and told me to call to see if he can visit?" The man on the other end of the line hums in thought, then says "Let me go get him. He has been waiting for you to call. It might take a moment, so be patient."
🐻 You tense up, feeling your heart race. He has been waiting for you? You look to Mr. Abbot, who places a hand on your shoulder to try to comfort you. He whispers "You're doing great! You got this!"
🐻 The man on the other end of the line suddenly shouts "COMING THROUGH! MR. DARLING'S GOTTA VERY IMPORTANT CALL! OUTTA THE WAY! HE'LL BE BACK IN A MOMENT!" You flinch from how loud it is, but you are shocked when you hear Wally's voice in the crowd, asking "Did they call? Please tell me it's them!"
🐻 It takes a bit, but you hear the crowd's voice die out, before Mr. Darling says a quiet "Thank you, Barnaby." Then, your heart races when he says "Hello? Is this (Y/N)?" You grin, saying "Yes, it is! Umm, I was wondering if you would like to set up a date and time to visit the Apple Castle Learning Center?"
🐻"That would be just lovely. We can talk about it tomorrow. Do you want to meet up at Howdy's Place? I'm friends with the owner. We can sit and talk at the little cafe area near the back. They serve some lovely milk tea. We can talk it all over then. I know you have some phone anxiety from your tone." "Of course! How about we meet there at 12 PM?" "That would be lovely. I'll see you then. Goodbye, (Y/N)." "Goodbye."
🐻 You end the call, looking over to Mr. Abbott and telling him the plan. He pats you on the back, telling you how well you did on the phone. You write down some things you need to ask Mr. Darling about, such as what date and time would be best for him to visit, as well what activities would be best. Then, you suddenly realize something... You never told Mr. Darling your name and there is no name tag on your uniform. The daycare doesn't have enough funds to make them... So how did he know it...?
🐻 You write down at the bottom of the list to ask him about it at Howdy's.

'Till Death Do Us Part
Tumblr media
Pairing: Johnny Silverhand x Fem!Idol!Reader part 1 and part 2 A/N: V goes by she/her pronouns. Y/S/N = Your Stage Name Bold Italics is Johnny speaking. WC: 1.5k this was requested by the lovely @diabolusdevia, i hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
When V was first introduced to Johnny’s engram, she was overwhelmed with this indescribable rage; a rage so deep and sharp that she was afraid it would kill her right that second.
But like the waves of a summer storm, the pounding rage gave way to a duller, more prominent feeling in the background— a profound feeling of anguish that consumed her.
The anguish was followed with memory after memory of a woman— a woman that performed side-by-side Johnny, a woman that was curled into his side— those memories gave V the tiniest bit of hope, before those feelings were ultimately crushed by the images of the same woman crying and lashing out.
V’s eyes flicked back and forth as she processed the memories, and she felt and heard everything that Johnny was feeling in those moments. She could feel the nostalgia that Johnny experienced, she could feel the love and adoration he still felt for her even when the woman was pushing him away.
The memories of the woman faded out, and all that was left was an empty gray space of time. V expected Johnny’s last memories to be of the Arasaka bombing, but no.
Johnny’s last memory was of a bird’s eye view of that same woman, walking out of the very tower he would destroy.
In that memory, V’s heart was torn to shreds before they were spat in hate and resentment.
“Y/N L/N.” V whispered, and she immediately felt the aching of her heart.
“Y/N L/N, Y/S/N, Mother of Cyberpop, key to my heart. Architect of my death. That heartbreaker goes by many names.” Johnny reiterated, appearing next to V and lighting a cigarette.
“I think that bombing is what killed you but okay…” V thought to herself, but only earned a scoff from Johnny.
“I can see and everything that pops up in your mind, wise ass.” Despite the harsh tone, Johnny carried a longing in his own mind.
Johnny would never admit it to himself, but V was witnessing every fleeting thought that Johnny experienced every waking second, and they were all immersed in Y/N.
Where V had thoughts of survival and how to get rid of the terrorist in her head, Johnny could do nothing but replay the last few years of his life. And among those few years, all he thought about was Y/N.
It was nonstop, V couldn’t even hear her own thoughts.
“Enough!” V shouted, startling the both of them. “It’s been 40 fucking years! You still haven’t moved on?”
“It hasn’t been 40 years for me. The Arasaka bombing happened just yesterday. Just yesterday I saw her for the first time in a year.”
V rubbed her face in agony.
“Does Y/N still make music?” Johnny’s question took V by surprise, but what was even more shocking was the twinkle in his eyes at the thought of listening to Y/N’s velvet voice once again.
“Not that I know of.”
And just like that, Johnny’s hope shriveled up and was tossed to the side just like the rest of his emotions.
“How about we go find her and ask her yourself?” The words just slipped out of V’s mouth without a second thought and her heart jumped at the worst case scenario. The last thing she wanted to do was upset an already ticking terrorist.
Johnny lifted his head and looked at V with a stone-cold face and for a second, V thought he was plotting to kill her right then and there.
“Alright kid. Let’s do it.”
It didn’t take a visit to a fixer to find Y/N, a simple internet search was all that was needed to find out that she was residing at a nursing home out in the countryside by the sea.
It was a 10 hour drive to get there, but Johnny didn’t let V have a wink of sleep once they arrived.
Sleep deprived and urgently being pushed through the entrance, V walked up to the front desk.
From the outside, the residence was a beautiful building that sat by itself on acres of open land. The sea was only a few hundred feet from the building, and there were miles of beautiful grass dotted with trees. The wind carried the smell of salt and tranquility, and eased both the minds of V and Johnny.
At the front desk of the lavish lobby, V introduced herself. “Hi, I’m here to see Y/N L/N.”
The secretary’s eyebrows raised in surprise. “Oh? And what is your relation?”
V’s brain started scattering around for a response before she sheepishly responded. “Uh…I’m a family friend.”
The secretary sent a suspicious look but didn’t prod further.
“Right this way.” The secretary ushered V—and Johnny—to follow her outside to the backyard.
Sitting on a bench under a tree, an elderly woman stared out at the gray sea.
“Ms. Y/N, you have a visitor.” The secretary calmly approached the woman, to which she glanced over at the visitor in question before turning her gaze back to the sea.
“She’s a quiet one, doesn’t speak much.” The secretary noted before leaving them alone.
V took a step forward, but Johnny stood back, frozen.
With a glance back at Johnny, V spoke.
“Hi, Ms. L/N. I’m V.”
Seconds passed with silence. V thought she hadn’t heard her and was about to repeat herself when a soft voice spoke out.
“V…short for Valerie?”
Under normal circumstances, V would lash out at the mention of her real name, but this time she kept her mouth shut.
“Yes, Valerie.”
A few more seconds, and then— “What a beautiful name.” The ends of Y/N’s lips curved just slightly into a hint of what could be called a smile, but was gone with the next wind.
“Uh..thanks.”
“Sit, child.”
V did as she was told, and looked back to see Johnny but he was already gone. Weird.
Neither of them spoke for the next few minutes, and V relished in that peace. There was no expectation to fill the silence. The two women stared out at the sea, lost in their own thoughts.
Except V’s thoughts were not her own, rather they were Johnny’s scatterbrained anxiety running a mile a minute.
It was clear that Johnny wasn’t coming out anytime soon, and there was no point in waiting it out. Might as well rip the band aid off now.
“This might sound crazy…but just hear me out,” V took a deep breath before continuing, “Johnny…Johnny Silverhand is technically alive…” V didn’t know whether to stop or tell her the full truth, but there was no point in omitting anything now. “His soul resides in an engram that’s in my head.” V pointed to the microchip slot behind her ear.
V wasn’t expecting an immediate response, but minutes had passed without a reaction and worry began to brew in both V and Johnny.
“This was a stupid fucking idea. Why the fuck did we come here in the first place. I doubt she even remembers me. Why would she remember me? Why would she even want to remember me? After the hell I put her through-”
Johnny’s usual cold persona was beginning to crumble and it felt worse than the shitty attitude V had to put up with.
But breaking through Johnny’s spiral was that same soft, steady voice.
“I believe you.”
V was gobsmacked and Johnny immediately materialized next to her.
“What- how-” V stammered.
“You just have a feeling about these things.” That same, small smile graced Y/N’s lips, but this time, they were accompanied with the flow of tears. “Oh, Johnny.” She whispered.
“I’m right here, baby.” Johnny was kneeling in front of Y/N holding onto her knobby, fragile hands. His own face stained with parallel trails of tears— trails of the pain he’s endured, with and without her.
“You want to tell her anything?” V thought to Johnny.
At the moment, Johnny made firm eye contact with Y/N but spoke through V’s mouth.
“I’ve never stopped loving you, my sweet little rockstar. Not once, not ever.”
V and Johnny sat on the bench, underneath the tree, closest to the sea.
Johnny’s fingers brushed over the newly-made plaque—
“Y/N L/N, Y/S/N, and key to our hearts.”
“Guess we gotta give her a drink at the Afterlife, now.” V stated with a sniffle.
“It’s the least she deserves.”
“One Y/S/N and One Johnny Silverhand, coming right up!” Claire shouted before heading back to get the ingredients.
“Pink lemonade, a dash of vodka, and a pretty green lime.” Both Claire and V recited at the same time.
“Enjoy.” Claire smiled and pushed her Y/S/N’s drink.
“To Y/S/N and Johnny, the coolest rock stars to have ever lived.” V clinked glasses with Claire and threw her head back.

The smell of cooking meat wafts into your bedroom, waking you up gently from your deep sleep. You pop an eye open and are greeted by bright sunlight shining through the open glass door, the salty breeze making the sheer curtains around it dance. Shrieks of laughter make their way up to you from the beach below. Reaching over to your phone, you check the time and see it is barely past three in the afternoon.
Considering you didn’t get back to bed until late, you’re not surprised to have slept in so long – though part of you wonders why no one had come to wake you earlier. You turn onto your back and stare up at the ceiling, a smile creeping up your face. Last night was nice, strolling on the beach with Levi in the dead of night. You recall the way he said goodnight to you softly before closing his door in front of you.
You lie there for a moment longer, focusing on the noises coming from the other side of the bedroom door. The sounds of metal pans and dull chatter slip under the crack, too muffled to really make out words but there’s a few bursts of boisterous laughter from Erwin. You hope Levi got to sleep in as much as you did.
It takes a bit to assemble yourself, humming to yourself as you do. You even make your bed, thinking about what Levi might say if he saw you do that. The thought makes you blush. Once dressed, you do a double take in the mirror then nod to yourself before throwing the bedroom door open.
At first glance, you see Hange busy at the stove, their hair pulled up in a messy ponytail. Levi is at the bar drinking a cup of tea as he scrolls through his phone. His eyes slide over to your movement in his periphery but says nothing. Instead, he leans over and pours another cup of tea, dropping in a couple spoonfuls of sugar as well as some milk. He slides it to the seat next to him on the bar then goes back to his cup, not looking your way.
“There you are!! Good afternoon!!” Hange yells over to you while they flip what looks like a piece of grilled chicken.
After sitting down on the stool next to Levi, you give him a grateful smile. When you take a sip of the warm tea, you sigh internally at the smooth flavor. Levi knew how you liked your tea and never failed to get it perfect every time - you adored him for that. Setting it down carefully, you look around the rest of the living space.
‘Where’s Erwin?’
“He’s on the phone.” Levi says, pointing behind him.
You follow his finger and find it pointing to the main balcony attached to the living room. Erwin is pacing back and forth as he speaks through the mouthpiece, his best customer service smile brightening up his face. A laugh shakes his upper body as he continues to converse.
‘What is he doing?’
“Who knows with him.” Hange cuts in as they take the grilled chicken out of the pan and place it into a glass dish sitting off to the side. There are already a few pieces of the same chicken piled into it.
“They had a little farmer’s market this morning out in the square that I just had to visit. I saw a flier for it in the elevator yesterday. You would not believe the things they were selling.” Hange says cheerily. They reach over to you and set down a small bowl of mixed fruits before plucking a blueberry off the top and popping it into their mouth. “Speaking of, I know what we’re doing tomorrow night and you and Levi are not allowed to say no.” Hange then turns around to check on the sizzling meat.
You eye Levi, curious to see if he had any idea what Hange meant but he just rolls his eyes, grumbling something about ‘shitty-glasses’ under his breath. You shrug to yourself and start digging into your fresh fruit starting with the plump strawberries hiding at the bottom.
The sound of the sliding door opening and closing behind you makes your ears twitch. You swivel in your barstool mid-bite to the sight of Erwin walking over with a big smile. He’s wearing his light blue button down that matches his eyes perfectly, unbuttoned to show his white t-shirt underneath.
“That should be the last of the plans and reservations made for this week.” Erwin chirps. The weariness he wore yesterday is completely dissolved. In place is the essence of pure joy.
“Nice! Good job, Erwin. But uh- what are these ‘plans and reservations’?” Hange inquires as they lean against the island with their chin sitting in their palms, the spatula they were using currently dripping oil all over the counter. Levi scowls and shoves a paper towel underneath.
“Well, tomorrow we’re going to visit Liberio’s local museum. They have a lot of history and culture here that I think we would all be interested in. Then there’s a block party in the town square to celebrate the beginning of the summer. Hange should have told you that already, though.” Erwin chuckles as he sits himself down on the last barstool next to Levi. He pulls his phone out and starts scrolling for something.
You take this chance to side-eye Hange, shooting them a raised eyebrow. They lift their hands up in defense and turn to focus on the last chicken breast currently popping in the pan.
“Hmmm. Oh!” Erwin sits up as he finds what he was looking for. “The day after tomorrow, I scheduled a lovely all afternoon spa date for you two.” Erwin’s crystal blue eyes flick up over his phone screen to look at you and Hange, though their back is still turned.
“I can’t imagine you scheduled the spa for us, Erwin?” Levi mutters over his teacup before taking a sip.
“As much as I think it could be fun, no. You and I are going golfing.” Levi sputters on the dark liquid, staring at Erwin in disbelief.
“Seriously?”
“Just a small game. It’s been a while.” Erwin says nonchalantly as he continues to scroll through his digital itinerary.
“Just let me stay here.” Levi’s tone is dry, but you can’t help but laugh internally at the bratty disposition he gave off. His eyes narrow at his blonde friend.
“It’s too late, we’re both reserved for the course at 9am.”
Levi only huffs in return.
“Then we’ll meet up before going out to dinner. I’ve seen nothing but great reviews at this one place down the street. Apparently, the owner’s eighteen-year-old son is a prodigal chef.”
‘Oh yeah, I read about something like that before we left home. How did you get reservations so last minute?’ You pop a raspberry in your mouth while you eye him with surprise.
“I had these reservations set months ago. I just had to call and ask if we could add a couple more chairs.” You don’t press after that, pinching your lips together in a thin line.
“Last but not least is the Liberio Summer Festival.” He continues. “After that, we have one more day to rest up before we fly back home to Paradis.” Erwin locks his phone before placing it down onto the marble countertop.
“I think these are all great ideas.” Hange comments with a smirk. Your blond friend scoffs in amusement.
“You thought of half of them, Hange.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’ve been thinking about stopping by some local shops too. Sounds like we’ll have time to do that tomorrow afternoon, huh?” Hange says as they shut the stove off and then turns to wiggle an eyebrow at you.
You’re in the middle of wiping off the sticky colorful fruit on a napkin as they direct the attention to you. You shrug but shoot over a reassuring smile regardless. You’ve never been one for shopping, but it made Hange happy and that was enough for you.
The rest of the conversation dwindles into today’s plans for the beach. Hange cuts in and excitedly showed off the chicken that they had just finished cooking. They were happy to announce that they just needed a little more time to prepare but then you all could leave. You hear them mention something about a beach picnic for dinner, but your ears quickly tune them out as you find your mind wandering elsewhere.
Levi’s steely gaze falls on you for a moment. You both exchanged a look. At the time, you think it’s from the ridiculous antics your sister was up to as usual. But if you had looked harder, you would have seen there was something else there dancing in his eyes. He looks away and back down to his almost empty teacup as he grumbles something to Hange.
You excuse yourself a bit later to gather your things for the beach and Hange follows so they can grab their own bag from their messy corner of belongings. You note their bathing suit top peeking out from their loose shirt and wonder how long they have been up.
“Don’t forget to change into your bathing suit.” Hange shoots you with a finger gun and then slips out of the door, shutting it and leaving you in silence. Your hands hung midair as you were signing to them before they had left. They drop to your sides as you roll your eyes.
A sigh escapes your lips as you walk over to your suitcase sitting on the floor. You had stuffed your swimsuit in a small compartment meant to separate it from the rest of your clothes in the off chance it was still wet when you packed later. Reaching in, you feel the soft texture and you’re instantly suspicious. This isn’t the bathing suit you had packed.
When you pull it out, your fears are confirmed. Sitting in between shaking fingers is the pink two-piece Hange had semi-jokingly gifted for your birthday last month. You don’t know how they found it considering you had shoved it so far back into your closet.
You thrust your hand back in the same pocket to check just in case and come up empty. You dig through the rest of the neatly organized suitcase to make sure you didn’t place the original somewhere else. You find nothing.
Long gone is the black set you had packed a couple days ago, leaving you with this abomination as your only option. Considering you had to leave soon, there was no time to go out and buy another. If you had a voice, you would have screamed your now dead-to-you sister’s name. Instead, you stomp your feet and take a shaky breath. You resign yourself to your fate and start changing.
.
By the time you all make it down to the sand, your phone reads a few minutes before 4:30 in the afternoon. It had taken a little longer than planned to get the beach-side picnic packed. Hange had found a large wicker basket the owners currently used for blanket storage that they claimed would be great to transport food in. Levi had adamantly disagreed, but Hange promised they would clean it out before putting the blankets back in. That was that.
Now, you sit under the protection of a comically large umbrella in the comfort of your baggiest clothes. Levi sits next to you covered up about the same. He hadn’t worn shorts since you all had gotten here so seeing his extremely pale legs in the sunlight was almost blinding. Before you had even left, he covered himself in sunscreen, grumbling under his breath about ‘not taking any chances.’ He didn’t appreciate the laugh he got out of you for saying that.
The beach wasn’t too packed to begin with, something you and Levi both sighed in relief at. There was enough space in the back to find the spot you all settled into easily. A couple walks by as they swing their toddler between them, tiny giggles escaping into the summer breeze. A few teens scream in delight a little way off, laughing and yelling at each other. Erwin and Hange are digging around in the wet sand looking for shells in front of you, the sound of their chatter getting lost in the summer breeze.
A loud rumbling comes from your stomach as you stretch your legs out onto the beach blanket. Your face heats up from embarrassment at the noise and you hope it wasn’t loud enough for Levi to hear. Unfortunately, he has sensitive hearing.
“Hungry?” He looks over to you, his eyes shaded in black sunglasses. You can’t tell if he’s even looking at you.
You give him a small nod, puffing your cheeks out. This is what you get for only eating a bowl of fruit for lunch. Levi’s hair flutters in the wind, pushing it back and out of his face. You can already see the sweat sheening on his face from the excessive summer heat.
“Oi! Shitty-glasses!” He shouts to Hange who was currently on their way to you as he spoke.
“What, shorty?” They grab the water bottle they had set out earlier and unscrew it as they sit down on their towel a few feet away.
“When’s dinner? Your sister’s stomach is about to eat her from the inside out.” He points to you with a thumb.
“I’m thinking about another hour. Can you hang in there until then?” Hange frowns to you with concern.
You didn’t want to interrupt their fun, so you sign a ‘yes’, resulting in a wild grin from your sister. You could wait a little longer, you hope.
“Great! You two are missing out. Get your asses up!” Hange tucks their bottle under their clothes to keep it from the sun and push up from the ground.
Erwin trots over, saltwater dripping off of him with every step. With his blond hair slicked back, you could have sworn he was made for the beach. He resembles what you would imagine the god Apollo would look like. Meant for the sunshine.
“Why are you two still sitting here, fully clothed at that? The water is this way.” He points behind his shoulder. He beams his award-winning smile down to the two of you as he waits for a response. He doesn’t get much from Levi other than an eye roll. You fidget with the blanket underneath you, curling your fingers into the cloth. The anxiety you had pushed down from earlier starts to bubble up again.
‘I’m just keeping Levi company.’ You sign what you believe to be half-truth. Before you all had left Paradis, Levi had warned he wasn’t going into the ocean. He had said something about it being gross and that fish defecated in it all day. So, Levi wanted to stay on the blanket, and you decided to stay with him.
“Then I guess Levi has to go in.” Hange glances over to Erwin with a smirk. Erwin starts to step over to Levi, still dripping wet from his plunge earlier.
“Don’t even think about it.” Levi’s voice comes out in a low warning. You can already see the gears turning in everyone’s head and you were afraid of what might happen if you let things continue. In a hurry, you stand yourself up and place your hands out to calm everyone down.
‘Fine, fine. I’m coming. Leave Levi out of this.’ You sign with shaky hands. You dreaded this the moment you saw yourself in the mirror before leaving. Hange nods in approval and crosses their arms as they wait. The corner of their lips twitched in anticipation at what they knew was about to happen.
Your fingers tremble as your thumbs lock into the belt loops of your shorts. Carefully, you slide them down your legs, being careful not to fall over as you step out of them. As if you were pushing off the inevitable, you fold them neatly and place them on top of the beach bag that sat next to the food basket.
Taking a deep breath, you grip the soft fabric of your shirt and lift it over your head. You hear a sharp intake of breath followed by a little cough and you don't have to look over to see who did it. Your face is about the same shade as the bathing suit you had so desperately tried to hide.
Now, the suit was really cute, you won’t deny it. And it was very flattering on your body as well as against your skin tone. But it was not a style you would have chosen yourself nor like anything you’ve ever tried on before. It was salacious in nature despite the fact that it covered the important bits.
The top has built-in cups that push everything up and together, giving even those on the smaller side an illusion of a heavy bust. You were afraid that any wrong move you made would result in a spill out from how low cut it was on you. Your bottoms were high waisted, much to your relief. But with the high waist came the high hips so your thighs and most of your ass was on full display. It hugs your body just right, and you never felt more vulnerable.
Hange wolf-whistles at the sight of you, prompting you to use the shirt you still had in hand as a cover up. You can’t bring yourself to look at anyone, mortified at the unwanted attention.
“See, what did I say? She looks cute, does she not?” Hange wraps her arm around your shoulder, almost knocking you over. You hug the shirt closer to your chest as you stare down to the sand your toes are currently digging in.
“Hange, why do I have a feeling she didn’t pack the suit?” Levi’s voice cuts in. Your eyes flicker to him quickly before looking away. Despite Levi’s casual tone, the tips of his ears are bright red and you’re pretty sure it’s not from the heat.
“Okay fine, I swapped it out. But she looks good!”
“Her comfort is important, Hange. She’s obviously not comfortable.” The way Levi dismissed their question while simultaneously coming to your aid makes your heart jump.
“Okay you guys, there’s nothing to be done about it now.” Erwin looks to you now, a gentle smile gracing his also rose-colored cheeks. “You don’t have to go in. We can stop for another suit before the next beach day.”
You were uncomfortable, yes. But…
Your eyes glance over at the waves crashing towards the shore. Multiple people splash around with joy, indicating the water must be nice today. You were looking forward to this day, and you would be mad at yourself for allowing your discomfort to ruin it. You fold your shirt and place it on top of your shorts before putting on a smile for everyone.
‘No. I’ll be okay.’
“Thatta girl. Let’s get you slathered up with sunscreen first.” Hange walks around to one of the beach bags and grabs one of the aerosol sunscreen cans they had bought earlier in the day. Even for a hot day, the impact of the cool mist hitting your skin creates goosebumps all over your body. You cough at the chemicals going up your nose after they spritz your face.
Once satisfied, they toss the can back into the bag before turning and jogging back into the clear ocean where Erwin currently floats in. You twist around to face Levi, ignoring the palpitations your heart is currently going through. His gaze snaps up to yours, eyes still covered by his dark spectacles.
‘Are you coming?’ You shoot him a soft smile.
“Just go.” He mumbles quietly. His words hold no malice, but you can’t help but internally recoil at his short response. You nod in his direction and take off towards the water. Had you looked behind you, you’d notice that you never left Levi’s sight.
You hesitate as you get to the shore, just as you did last night. The frothy seawater quickly makes its way to your bare feet, crashing over them and retreating just as fast. You laugh to yourself at the feeling of the sand displacing from the rushing water underneath your toes. The water is much warmer than when you had first greeted it so many hours ago. With a child-like grin, you run into the opposing current.
.
You had been splashing around with Hange for about 20 minutes when the sudden dizzy spell hits you. With the waves bouncing you up and down, you feel tingles in your feet that were currently suspended from floating in the salt water. You needed to get out.
Without saying anything to your companions, you start wading back to the shore as best you can. You didn’t realize how far out into the ocean you were until now. With each stroke you made back to land, the more static that filled your head. You blink hard a few times trying to fight the lightheaded feeling as your feet dig in the wet sand in an attempt to push yourself forward more.
By some miracle, you’re able to make it back to where the waves just crash on land before your legs collapse from under you. You’re able to catch yourself so you don’t face-plant into the firm sand beneath you, but your arms are shaky and the water slamming into you doesn’t help. Hange’s and Erwin’s shouts from behind come to you muffled. You shake your head, trying to knock back the nausea that came from feeling like the earth was spinning.
Suddenly, there’s a hand on your back as another pulls your chin over to look into the stormy gray eyes of Levi. His face is laced full of worry as his eyes scan your weary features. The blood rushing to your ears is almost as loud as the ocean and because of that, you have a hard time understanding anything he’s saying now. It takes a moment for you to realize he isn’t even talking to you, and instead to the people coming up from behind you.
Your eyes shut tight as you feel him lifting you off the ground and into his arms. He holds you close to his chest as he starts speed-walking back over to the spot you all had claimed. With the motion of his steps mixed in with the world already spinning around you, your nausea grows worse.
You grab the shirt Levi still had on in a tight fist, hoping it will help ground you. You notice his shirt is currently getting soaked from your wet body, adhering to his seemingly toned chest underneath. If you weren’t on the verge of throwing up, you would have been more aware of how fast his heart was racing holding you so closely with such little clothing on.
“Don’t worry about it.” Levi grunts down to you. He kneels into the soft blanket and sets you down gently before reaching over into the basket. Pulling out a soda, he makes quick work of popping it open and bringing it to your lips. You blink a few times at him. The worry behind his eyes is ever present as he watches you carefully. Your hesitation, however, makes him scowl.
“Drink.” He orders.
If you weren’t on the brink of passing out, you would have found this situation embarrassingly intimate. You put your mouth on the metal lip and Levi helps to tip it for you, carbonated sugar dancing on your tongue as it goes down. It’s like this for a couple minutes. Levi tipping it back every few minutes, and you're staring anywhere but his face.
Eventually, the world feels like it’s slowing down. The sounds around you trickle in with clarity and you’re finally more aware of your surroundings. Your eyes trail back over to Levi, still on his knees next to you with the can in hand. His eyes haven’t let your face, nor has the concern lessened. You shift around to get comfortable and notice that your shirt has been placed back over your head somehow.
Gently, you place your hand over Levi’s and push it down and out of your face.
‘I’m okay, now. I think.’  You sign, your hands still visibly shaking.
“You dumbass, this is why we should have eaten earlier.” Levi’s voice is gruff. He shoots daggers over to where your sister currently sits.
“I didn’t pay attention. That’s on me, I admit. We’re eating now, though.” Hange’s voice is drenched with guilt. They nod over to Erwin who was currently pulling out plates as well as miscellaneous covered dishes filled with what you expect is dinner.
“How is she?” Erwin asks as he pops open the top of the chicken salad Hange had made earlier.
Levi’s eyes meet your gaze again, waiting for your response.
‘Better.’ You offer a small smile. In truth, you did. The soda brought your heart back to a normal rhythm and you could finally feel your fingers.
“She says better.” Levi mumbles. He sits back down on the blanket before gingerly rubbing at his knee he had been kneeling on.
“Good, let’s dig in then.” Erwin smiles over to you as he hands you a plate filled with chicken salad, crackers, and various chopped up veggies.
Hange crawls over to you, most of their skin now dry from sitting out in the sun during this whole ordeal. They lean against you, resting their head on your shoulder. You can’t see their face very well from this angle, but you suspect they might be frowning.
“Sorry, my little berry. I’ve messed everything up for you today.” You see Levi open his mouth to say something, but you subtly shake your head. He closes it quickly and looks away.
You pat Hange’s head in reassurance with your other arm, feeling the grainy sand that currently sits between their hair strands. Erwin starts talking about something marine life related and you find yourself checking out as you slowly eat at your plate. And just like that, the group is back to silly conversations and taunting statements. The whole time, you find yourself throwing appreciative glances over to Levi and sometimes he’ll catch you, but he says nothing about it.
.
The sun hangs lower by the time you all finish cleaning up after yourselves. There were probably a couple hours until sunset. Erwin had asked if you wanted to come back into the water with them but denied their offer, instead opting to use this time to sunbathe. In all honesty, you still needed time to recalibrate after almost passing out. They were much more understanding and left you to your own devices. And Levi, of course, stayed behind with you.
Unfortunately, with the absence of Hange, you struggle a bit with the sunscreen. You were able to get everything in the front but when it came to getting your back, you found yourself fighting with the canister. That is, until you feel slim fingers taking it from you after you spray your hair for the third time.
“Tch, if you need help just say so.” Levi grumbles from behind you. Your heart jumps by his sudden proximity to you, his voice practically right by your ear. You hear him shaking the can before quickly spraying a layer of mist along your back, making sure to get your shoulders well covered as well.
“Some of the sunscreen isn’t sitting right. You might need to rub it in.” You glance back at Levi, eyebrow raised. You raise your hands to where he can see without having to turn around.
‘I can’t reach back there, dummy. Will you help?’ You keep a calm and collected face. Internally, however, you were freaking out at your request. With Hange gone, you had no one else to ask. A moment passes. Just as you think he had left in refusal of your bold invitation, you feel his slender fingers rubbing the oily sunscreen into your soft skin.
This isn’t the first time Levi has touched you, recalling the brief hand holding in the past. Not to mention him carrying you an hour ago. But this is the first time he did it with the sole intention of touching you, even if it was to help you stay protected from the sun. You’re not sure if he was doing it deliberately or not, but the pressure his nimble fingers used to massage the oils in was enough to make you shift your weight in an attempt to fight the feeling that was burning at your core. Levi’s fingers leave you all too soon.
“How’s that?” His voice comes out thickly. You turn back around to face him with a forced smile.
‘Great, thank you.’ He nods stiffly and turns back around before curling back up under the umbrella. You stand awkwardly before remembering why he helped you in the first place.
Taking Hange’s towel they had laid out, you fluff it up to get the sand off before stretching out on top of it. You’re still self-conscious of the fabric that hugs your body, so you find yourself lying face down and in the direction of the umbrella. You fold your arms under your head and rest your cheek against them. A content sigh escapes your lips from the sun rays kissing your skin.
It stays like this. You can hear Levi a few feet away, shuffling in place every couple of minutes. You also hear the cacophony of seagulls off in the distance, probably in search of food. There’s more laughter, some from Erwin’s very distinctive spirited self. All this mixed with the crashing of waves really adds to your blissful mood.
Your mind wanders, gravitating towards Levi as it always does. You can’t imagine this is his favorite place to be right now, despite his willingness to walk with you last night. You pull your head up to where your chin rests in between both folded arms and you stare over to Levi. He currently sits with his feet tucked under him in a crossed position, currently messing with something on his phone. Sitting up on both elbows, you snap to get his attention.
His face raises up slightly, but you can’t tell if he’s even looking at you with how dark his sunglasses were. Had you read his mind, you’d have known he was doing his best not to glance down where your breasts currently sit squished against the towel. His face gives nothing away, but his heart skips a few beats at the sight of you and the thoughts that lingered. Levi clears his throat before sitting forward and setting his phone down. You had his undivided attention.
“What?”
‘Just checking on you.’ You purse your lips at him. You get a sense of simmering attitude just threatening to bubble up in him.
“I’m fine.” He mumbles, shrugging his shoulders.
‘You don’t sound fine.’ You narrow your eyes at him.
“Well, it’s hot and this grainy shit is very annoying.” He sweeps at the sand that had transferred onto the blanket earlier. You raise an eyebrow at him and frown.
‘Why didn’t you stay back then?’
“Someone needed to make sure you wouldn’t drown.”
‘You don’t trust Erwin or Hange?’ Levi huffs at that.
“That’s funny.” He says without humor.
‘Want me to go drown so you don’t have to worry about me anymore?’ You stick your tongue out at him.
“Sure, just make it quick. I think I can fit in some time to clean the kitchen before Hange comes back to wreck it.” Your shoulders shake in silent laughter at his serious disposition. The corners of his mouth quirk up as well. You puff your cheeks out, your smile fading from your face slowly.
‘It’s not fair to you if you’re so miserable, Levi.’
“I’ll be fine. Stop worrying about me and focus on yourself, tch.” Levi mindlessly pulls at the small grains of sand still plaguing the area around him. A moment later, he pushes his sunglasses up so it’s holding his hair back, his whole face on display for you. “Are you having fun?”
You rest your chin in your palm as you eye him, giving him a nod in response. Due to the angle, Levi’s unblinking gaze peers through his long eyelashes. That feeling you had earlier, that burning sensation through your core. It’s ever present as you both continue to watch each other. Your eyes flicker down to his pouty lips before looking away shyly. After some silence between you two, you decide to lie back down, tucking your face into the crook of your elbow.
After a while, your back starts feeling like it’s on fire, so you turn over to give your front an opportunity for some sunlight. You tilt your head back to peep a glance up at Levi to see what he was doing, only to catch him staring straight back. He mumbles a sorry and looks back down at his phone clenched in white knuckles. You can’t help it, a smug smile teases at your lips as you flatten back out. Maybe this bathing suit isn’t so bad, you start to think.
You get about another fifteen minutes of peace until you hear Hange’s quiet laughter. Your first mistake is believing they were coming back for a drink break, so you kept your eyes closed. A shadow passes by and then suddenly you feel a cascade of warm water fall on your face.
You’re in such shock that you sit straight up and splutter at the water that has gone up your nose and straight down your throat. Everything burns from the excessive salt. You wipe your eyes in time to see the culprits running back to the ocean. Hange is laughing so hard that they’re not paying attention and end up tripping on their own feet. They take a nosedive into the surf.
You push yourself up from the now soaked towel and run after them, almost losing footing in the hot, soft sand. You’re still able to find enough momentum though. Erwin’s in the middle of laughing at Hange’s misfortune with his back turned to you that he doesn’t see you in time to stop you from tackling him from behind.
Erwin, of course, isn’t fazed by any of this. He stands almost half a foot taller than you with broad shoulders, so you were not taking him down any time soon. At best, you were able to koala around him.
You’re not sure how he did it but suddenly you were being picked up like a surfboard by his big hands and then tucked under an arm like a football. No amount of kicking and hitting makes him stop his amble into the ocean. During this whole time, your hoarse laughter escapes from your lungs.
Before you know it, he stops just as the water is up to his knees and stands staring off in the distance. Erwin is purposefully oblivious to your protests as he scans the distance with his hand as a visor to block out the setting sun. Suddenly, he stiffly picks you up like a surfboard again and your eyes widen at the realization of what he is planning to do. With your feet still kicking as they dangle below you, in one swift movement Erwin chucks you a good few feet away into the air. You only have time to pinch your nose before you crash back into the blue water like a cannonball.
When you break the surface, you come out laughing and coughing at the salty water you accidentally ingested. Hange is back on the surf and sitting down as the waves crash around them, laughing along with you. Erwin, however, is back at the umbrella talking to Levi. They’re too far away to hear what they’re talking about, but you can tell it’s a calm argument. Much to your surprise, you see Levi getting up just as Erwin turns around to head back. He has a satisfied grin, mixed with slight mischief. This wasn’t going to go well.
Eventually, Levi makes his way down to right where the furthest waves meet the sand and stands next to Erwin. His shoes are off as is his shirt. All that adorns his short stature is a pair of swim trunks and his sunglasses. Lean muscles ripple all throughout his body as he stands with both feet planted into the moist sand. He crosses his arms over his chest, eyebrows knit in annoyance.
“Okay, I’m here. Happy?” He calls out to all of you, voice loud to be heard over the waves.
Hange looks over at the source and raises their arms in excitement while screaming, “Yay Levi! Glad to see you make it. Come on in, the water’s fine!”
“Tch, yeah, no thanks. That water is fucking disgusting.” His eyes land on you as you bob up and down from the waves, his gaze noticeably softening when he sees you smiling at him. Unfortunately for Levi, you were too good of a distraction for Erwin’s antics.
You watch in bewilderment as Erwin lifts Levi up from the armpits like a toddler. The horror-stricken look that blanketed Levi’s face would have been comical if you weren’t so afraid for Erwin’s life. You’ve never seen someone go through the 5 stages of grief in such a short amount of time. Levi accepted defeat the moment right before he’s tossed into the water a few feet from you.
You guard your face from the inevitable splash, mouth agape at the audacity of Erwin’s actions. Hange starts laughing even harder until a wave larger than the others comes out of nowhere and hits them square in the face. Erwin loses it after that.
When Levi resurfaces, his anger is palpable. He starts to wade towards Erwin who was currently doubled over on his knees in a fit of laughter but your fingers clamp over Levi’s forearm to stop him. In a knee jerk reaction, he yanks his arm out of your grip and whirls around on you. The dark look in his eyes diminishes quickly as he realizes it’s you. The anger never leaves his face though, every muscle tense with his jaw locked.
You grip Levi’s arm gently and start tugging him opposite of where your friends currently sat laughing. Keeping yourself afloat in one place was hard enough on your own, but dragging someone behind you was another story. Fortunately for you, Levi doesn’t resist as you trudge through the sand and ocean currents to the shore. Eventually you both make it until you’re ankle deep in water and you turn to face him.
Levi’s face is contorted less so than before, only showing pure annoyance. His eyes don’t meet yours, instead staring off to somewhere off in the distance. You release his arm and reach over with both hands to cup his face in them, twisting his face in your direction. His eyes widen, stunned at your sudden touch.
One of his hands reaches up, three fingers curling around the back of your hand and pulls it down off his face. He continues to hold on to your hand though, refusing to let go.
“Don’t even think about apologizing.” His voice comes out gravelly. His eyes narrow over your shoulder, probably to Erwin if you had to guess. You pull your hand out of his to sign, but you can feel the lingering warmth of his skin still pressing into your palm.
‘I won’t. Are you okay?’
“No.”
‘Do you want to leave?’ Levi’s eyes drift back to yours, and you can see the gears turning in his head.
“The beach or the ocean?” He kicks his feet in the clear shallow water. Levi is obviously uncomfortable. You recall the way he had stuck up for you earlier in his own Levi way, and it was your turn to help him, if he wanted it.
His gaze softens as he stares back at your sun kissed face. He grips your wrist and starts walking back to the group’s belongings, tugging you along with him. As he passes Hange and Erwin who are currently eying the two of you, he flips them both off. You don’t get to see their reaction as you’re being pulled away quickly.
When you both get back, Levi grabs two towels stuffed into one of the bags. He hands one to you before using his own to ruffle his hair dry. When he pulls the towel off, your heart threatens to explode at the sight. Levi’s hair sticks up in different ways and you can’t stop the blush from creeping into your cheeks. He wasn’t being fair, being this attractive.
You walk over to your clothes, planning to pack everything up once you dry yourself off more. He surprises you, however, by sitting down in the shadows of the early evening sun instead of getting his things to leave. His knees pull up against his chest as he looks up to you and offers a hand. Was his face pink from the heat or…?
“I’m fine. Just come sit.”
‘Are you sure?’ You frown down at him as you wring the saltwater out of your hair. He says nothing and instead continues to watch you intently. You roll your eyes at him and lightly take his hand. You lower yourself down next to him, shoulder to shoulder with him facing the horizon.
You were fine spending the rest of your life watching the ocean glitter gold under the setting sun with him by your side. Content, even.
.
You could have sworn you only blinked once, but the bright sands you were once staring at suddenly turned into the soft cloudy lavender sky and the jaw of one Levi Ackerman. He carries you against his bare chest, both arms cradling you in a bridal style. Your eyes blink slowly from sleep, the distance between blinks growing longer with every rhythmic step that Levi took. You were about to be lulled back into sleep. As if one more defiant act, you glance up. Those eyes of his, your favorite shade of steely gray, stare down at you just as you shut your eyelids for the last time. You hear him whisper just as you’re drifting away.
“I’ve got you.”

when robin first saw her standing in the doorway, her heart dropped. not because she wasn't happy to see her because, god she was, but because it felt like seeing a ghost. a person from her past she would've never expected. especially not now, in the middle of a rainy july night she had planned on spending all alone on her couch.
nancy wheeler doesn't look like a ghost though, she looks so very real. her hair has grown much longer than robin has ever seen it and her face has changed too. she seems so much older but in all the right ways. in the ways, robin knows from whenever she looks in the mirror herself. they aren't kids anymore though that's just about how long it must have been since she last saw her.
she is dripping, summer rain drenching her clothes and soaking her hair. she's got her arms wrapped around herself, light blue eyes widened in surprise as if she wasn't expecting robin to actually open the door. strange, robin thinks, considering that she quite literally came to her apartment. but any of this, any thoughts and doubts vanish the second nancy speaks. it's just one word, but hearing the sound of her voice again is enough for her to feel an odd sense of comfort.
"robin-" she says, her facial expression something robin can't wrap her head around. she has half a smile on her lips and yet her eyes betray her. they're somehow scared as if she fears robin would send her away again. they hold a bit of surprise too that probably comes from the fact that this is her first time seeing robin too.
and just like that she stands there, in the hallway of robin's house, leaving a trail of waterdrops behind and smiling in a way that immediately captures the other woman's heart, even after years that have passed. as if she was never truly gone.
"nance..." robin mumbles, her raspy voice cracking when the nickname falls from her lips. "what- god what are you going here? i mean- i- god" she shakes head and steps all the way out of her apartment and into nancy's space. she can't even help herself but wrap her arms around the other girl's body and pull her into a hug. she can hear her gasps and loosens her hug for just a second, afraid that she has made a mistake, but nancy holds her in place and returns the hug with a soft "oh".
she can feel her wet clothes soaking the fabric of her own but she doesn't care. she doesn't care about anything but the fact that nancy is here, with her.
"oh my god" she mumbles and leans back, palms still holding her by the shoulders to look at her from up close "oh my god".
nancy chuckles, her smile spreading across her whole face. she seems relieved.
"you should-" she turns around to give a quick glance into her apartment. thank god she chose to clean up earlier. "you should come inside" ──────────────────
robin's couch bounces slightly under their weight as both women drop down onto it: nancy wearing a skirt and blouse that haven't gotten as wet due to her coat and robin with a bottle of wine and two glasses that she fills up for them.
she isn't sure when or why she has gotten this bottle, considering that she was never really a wine type of woman. but this seems like the right occasion or a least she hopes so.
it's not like she never really knew much about that either. she feels unusually exposed like this, well aware of nancy's eyes on her as she hands her the glass.
"so.." robin finally finds her voice "what brings you here?"
nancy takes a sip from her glass before she answers and robin's eyes immediately fall upon her jaw and the way it moves as she swallows the liquid. she drags her eyes away from it when nancy puts the glass down.
"steve gave me the address" she begins. "i was in town and...i didn't know where else to go"
"hold on" robin furrows her brows. "why are you in town?"
nancy inhales slowly. "i mean...i wanted to see you...i think...i- i kept thinking about you and i didn't have anything else to do"
robin wants to be surprised, wants to ask a million questions but how could she when nancy said that she wanted to see her ? that she kept thinking about her ? these words have her heart racing in her chest in excitement. the kind of excitement that reminds her of her youth and of all the times she had spent loving nancy. from afar at first and then from up close too, though no one ever knew about that.
it was their little secret, the one thing they had and shared in times when everything else had been ripped from them.
it was not what they should have done, robin knows that and she knows nancy knows too. it was tragic and heartbreaking and yet it was beautiful for as long as it lasted. and then, from one day to the other, it had all been gone.
"how long has it been?" nancy asks and tilts her head.
she looks beautiful like this, robin thinks, with her knees drawn to her body while she has an arm propped up up the armrest. she looks older, too; her hair has grown longer and her eyes seem to be less...tired? or exhausted, maybe?
either way, robin knows what must've caused this; the sleepless nights that followed the events of 1986 had left a mark on all of them. that seems to be gone now, though. or at least a lot less present.
robin wonders if nancy still falls asleep to the sound of jonathan's breathing. if they're still as strong as they were at 18. but she can't bring herself to ask that. she can't bare to hear the truth about the nights they had spent together back then.
although she can imagine it perfectly fine: "we were children robin" nancy would say, nipping on her glass of wine occasionally. "we didn't know what we were doing. it meant nothing". only the voice of imaginary nancy in her head makes her heart drop. it didn't mean nothing to her. of course not.
but nancy had jonathan, chose jonathan. even after the nights they had spent nuzzled up against one another beneath the weight of the blanket, telling stories about the things they would do once all of this would be over.
years have passed ever since. years of occasional calls, questions about life but always avoiding those topics. years of telling each other they would meet again soon and somehow they never did. robin wonders what changed.
"i'm not sure i want to know, actually" robin chuckles. "too long, that's for sure" "yeah" nancy nods, her gaze lingering on the coffee table absentmindedly for a split second. "too long"
she turns the wine glass in her hands before she finally speaks: "so, robin buckley" her head turns to look at her, her deep blue eyes sending shivers down robin's spine.
"how have you been here?"
"oh you know-" robin shrugs. "getting around...i have a pretty solid job, an apartment i like..."
"is-" nancy cuts herself off for a second, as if she's reconsidering her words, before she does speak "is there anyone?"
"oh" she blushes slightly, praying that it is dark enough to conceal the soft shade of red of her cheeks. "no...i mean, i guess there have been women but...it never felt right"
never felt right with anyone but you, is what robin means to say. she wants to scream it, at the top of her lungs, like she should've done when nancy left hawkins. maybe if she would've done so, things would be different now.
"what about you?" she asks instead, chewing the insides of her cheeks nervously.
the sight of this makes nancy chuckle to herself; years have gone by and this is still robin. all grown up now, long curls held out of her face with a hair claw so that her freckled skin is on full display. but it's still her: the tall girl who reached for her hand in the upside down, who held her when no one else did, who put bandages to the wound that have scarred now but are still a permanent reminder of who they are. who had always been so unapologetically herself.
"it's...difficult" she answers, drowning the last bits of wine in one gulp to give her the strength to go on. "jonathan and i we- well we were engaged as you know-"
the words are enough for her to internally flinch. she does know. she remembers the day she got the letter, inviting her to their 'engagement party' in big, loopy letters. it all seemed so final then. not like it hadn't already felt final before, but this seemed to be it.
"yeah" she nods.
"but that kind of...didn't work as we had planned" nancy looks down at her hands, at the spot where the engagement ring used to sit -tying her to a person whom she could never love the way he deserved it.
robin's gaze follows her, eyes widening slightly when she finds the spot empty. "what happened?"
"i don't think our visions of a future matched the way we thought they would. he had all those dreams and...i knew i couldn't give him that"
she nods along to her words softly.
"when did you...?"
"it's been a little while" nancy explains and puts the glass on the coffee table. "it's fine we don't- let's not talk about him right now okay?"
she knows robin deserves the truth. probably the most out of all people. but nancy is also well aware that this truth, her truth, could ruin them more than life already has. and she isn't ready to lose robin.
"of course, of course" robin agrees. "whatever you prefer it's just..."
she reaches out softly and ever so slowly until her hand reaches nancy's. their fingers link in an instant and for a split second, they're in the upside down again, darkness all around while creatures of terror are screeching in the distance. they're both 18 once more, secretly head over heels for the other while knowing they could not be.
just like all these years ago, skin meets skin and all the worries in this world become white noise to their feelings.
nancy blinks and her eyes find robin's. they're 26 again, in a beautiful apartment that is more robin than anything imaginable. times have changed, they have too.
"you got this" she whispers, just like nancy once did. "and even if you don't, i got you"
a soft smile creeps upon her features, softening the sharp edges of her face that she never grew out of. robin is happy she didn't. she has always been the most beautiful woman robin has ever laid her eyes on and yet mid-20s look good on nancy, probably even better than 18.
"maybe i should have stayed" nancy mumbles. "robin did i...did i make the wrong choice?"
she clears her throat, slightly taken aback by the answer. her younger-self would have yelled now. she would have yelled and screamed and cried about how she did make the wrong choice and how she broke her heart by leaving.
but she has grown.
nancy hadn't been ready, unlike herself. it had been unfair, but that's the way it was then. robin had sworn herself she wouldn't waste her time waiting for a woman that had chosen her own way.
now she knows that she has waited all along.
"you didn't, you- you weren't ready nancy" she explains. "this couldn't have worked like this"
nancy tilts her head and gives her a look that tells her just how thankful she is. she also leans in a lot closer than she did before. but maybe robin is imagining that part.
"is there still time...?" she breathes. oh she's definitely not imagining that. she can feel nancy's breath on her face. "can i- god, please let me fix this"
and then she closes the little distance that is left between them.
her lips feel softer than they did back then. she must've dropped the anxious habit of chewing on them. but robin doesn't care about that right now, and pushes the thought away for another time.because nancy, her nancy, is kissing her again.
it's been years of longing for the taste of those lips and yet robin remembers. robin remembers everything.
they still feel like flying on clouds and taste like the summer of '86. their mouths meet softly at first, testing long-forgotten waters. they're a long series of pressing carefully and giving in for the silent plead. that's until nancy's part slightly and robin can't help but follow suit immediately.
nancy allows robin to take control over the kiss, unlike she had done back when they first kiss.
the sensation of tongues sliding against each other has her head spinning too much to remain in control over anything.
robin wastes no time in pulling them up, her lips never leaving nancy's as they move through the apartment in a haze.
"h-how do you- i mean- is this-" robin curses herself for this damn rambling that comes up at the most inconvenient of all times. the other woman doesn't mind though. she just smiles.
"your bedroom, robin" she whispers.
"oh, yeah...yeah right" robin says, biting her lip.
that same smile is still plastered over nancy's face when she mumbles a sweet invitation of "come here" and wraps her arms around her again.
they stumble down the hallway of the apartment, occasionally walking against corners and walls without breaking their kiss. there is a trail of clothing following them on the wooden floor, a sweater, a blouse, and a tank top lining up until where they're standing. nancy chuckles against her lips as the taller woman struggles to find the doorknob behind her, all while she is getting pressed against it by her. once she figures it out, robin wastes no time in pulling nancy inside. suddenly very self-conscious, she stands in front of her, finally allowing robin to take in the beautiful sight in front of her.
she is standing right in front of robin the woman who she loved all these years ago. who she still loves, if she's being honest. but this is probably not the time for this conversation, nancy decides. not when she's wearing nothing but a lacy bra and her jeans still, just waiting for robin to undress her.
"you're- you're so beautiful, nancy" robin whispers, her eyes glued to her body. there's no shame in her shameless gaping. for the first time, she can actually do so without feeling utterly ashamed. and she's making some good use of that. blush creeps up her chest and robin's lips curl into a smile.
"you're beautiful too" nancy returns and steps into her space. robin is wearing a rather decent, black bra, but god it looks good. she reaches out, her palm meeting robin's upper arm just beneath her shoulder. neither of them speaks, heavy breathing the only proper noise they can manage as she runs her hand upwards softly. over the outstanding collarbones, the hundreds of freckles she has counted more times than she cares to admit, over the soft flesh of her pulse point, until her fingers wrap around the back of her neck.
robin has moved her hands down to settle on nancy's waist and, just like that, she pulls her in. they lean in slowly, slower than they've ever done it before. seizing every second they can get of this.
it is nancy who eventually closes the distance by pulling robin towards her with her hand on her neck.
their moths meet parted, hot breaths past each other's lips while they press their foreheads together.
"i want you" nancy mumbles and is rewarded by robin's mouth pressing against hers. their tongues slide together within seconds. they move together softly at first, taking their time to explore each other's mouths. but when robin sucks nancy's bottom lip into her mouth and nancy audibly gasps at the feeling, the last bits of remaining ice is broken.
this is also all it takes for the kisses to reach new heights, hands roaming freely while they're still hooked to the other's lips. eventually, though, robin breaks the kiss. nancy is about to complain, at least that's until robin's lips attach to her neck and her parted lips -prepared to let out a complaint- open wider to let out a sinful gasp, followed by "oh Robin".
her mouth is doing some absolute magic work on her neck that has her legs shaking and leaves her with no other choice but to hold on to the back of her head and pray that she won't stop anytime soon. robin isn't planning on stopping, of course. this, the feeling of nancy's fingers curling up in her hair, her racing pulse beneath her lips, her soft moans like fuel to the fire that's burning within her, it's all so much. it's pure bliss. it's not nearly enough.
as her tongue licks a long stripe up nancy's neck, her fingers find her nipples through the thin lace of her bra. nancy mumbles some incoherent words of how she needs it off of her but robin gets the hint and reaches around her body, unclasps it with surprising ease that has nancy wondering just how many women robin has been with since her, and let's gravity do the rest of the work as it drops to the floor.
nancy's eyes meet hers and she feels almost shy now, with robin still in her underwear while she has been stripped out of her own. that can be changed though, she realizes, and steps forward to get robin into an equal state of undressing.
robin chuckles to see how eager nancy seems to be to ger her naked but doesn't mind one bit. she guides the other woman to the bed, where she sits down on the edge of the mattress before pulling nancy onto her lap.
her fingers run over her cheeks, cupping her face in her soft hands while she looks down at her through the dim light.
"i missed this" she whispers quietly, so quietly robin isn't even sure she was supposed to hear it. her voice is layered with so many emotions but nancy wheeler is not gonna get emotional about sex. yet the image of robin is enough for her to start crying if she just focused on that for long enough. "i missed you".
"i missed you too, nance" robin replies. her voice is as raspy as it ever was, like music to nancy's ears.
"please touch me!"
and so she does. she brings her lips to her chest and kisses all over her skin. nancy leans her head back immediately, her eyes fluttering shut at the heavenly sensation of finally having her mouth on her body again. she still has a hand behind her head and guides her softly, giving her a suggestive tug of her hair, closer to her hardened nipples. robin understands within seconds and wraps her lips around them before sucking softly. her eyes meet nancy's as she does so and she is delighted to see that nancy's lips have parted and she is panting at the new feeling.
"oh god...yes!"
her lips begin trailing further downward after a bit more of this, further and further, as far as their current position allows it. at the same time, she has both of her palms on nancy's back to hold her close.
"beautiful" she whispers. "so beautiful...so pretty..."
then, when nancy least expects it, she spins them around so that she has her laying beneath herself. nancy lets out a noise of surprise that turns into sweet laughter once she realizes what robin is up to.
she watches her with curious eyes as the other woman props herself up over her with both of her arms. it gives her just the right amount of space between their bodies to wrap her arms around her body and, with a questioning tilt of her head that robin confirms with a nod, take off her bra too. once she has loosened it, she allows the fabric to slide down her body.
her fingers dance over robin's ribcage faintly, feeling the swell of scars that she carries from the battle in hawkins still. she hopes that each line of her fingerprints might help them heal.
robin's breathing is labored when nancy's hands find her breasts and she gives them both a gentle, careful squeeze.
"holy shit nance-" her voice is richly layered with want for the girl beneath her and carries little cracks with it that shoot right down to nancy's center.
she leans down again, kissing her already swollen lips. she would probably allow nancy to play with her tits for hours -maybe one day she will actually ask her to do so, assuming that this is more than a one-time thing- but she wants her, needs her. nancy sucks on her tongue and robin groans audibly, a noise from deep inside her throat. finally, her lips move downwards again, except that this time their position is not an obstacle for that. she kisses her way down, until she is laying between nancy's legs, her fingers hooked around the waistband of her skirt. she lookes up at her and mumbles "can i?"
"please" nancy nods. "please"
robin pulls down both her underwear and the skirt and brings it all the way down her long legs before throwing it over her shoulder absentmindedly. she keeps looking right into nancy's eyes though, not wanting to make her uncomfortable by gaping at her pussy. nancy wouldn't mind though, if anything, she would greatly appreciate it if robin finally gave her the attention she wants.
she spreads her legs even wider and finally, robin's eyes wander lower. she visibly licks her lips and inhales sharply at the sight in front of her:
nancy is wet. she's so wet and wanting for her.
she fights back the internal urge to press her thighs together, because that would mean robin would probably lean back and that is the last thing she wants. instead, she grabs the back of her head and bucks her hips upwards. robin gets the hint and lets it happen, lets her pull her face into her. she puts her hands to her inner thighs and holds her open as she licks a broad, long stripe through her with the flat of her tongue, before circling her clit with the tip of it.
it seems as if she hasn't forgotten a thing after all this time, as if she still remembers all the spots that have nancy seeing stars. she wraps her lips around her clit after some more licks and sucks gently, immediately earning an arch of nancy's back and a broken moan of her name in response.
she keeps teasing around her clit with her tongue and then occasionally dips down to gather more of her arousal on her tongue to bring it up.
"fuck nancy" she breathes, voice all hoarse. "you taste so fucking good"
nancy only tries to pull robin closer at that. she feels so hungry right now. she wants more, she needs more. nancy doubts she has ever felt this way before. not with Jonathan, definitely not with steve back then. and even the nights she has spent with robin...nothing could compare to what this feels like. back then they had to rush things, had to keep it quiet, had to love each other in utter silence. now she can love her freely, she can let robin love her freely. for the first time she doesn't have the weight of shame on her shoulders.
robin is still sweeping her tongue through her, but she does it slowly. firm and with purpose, but it is obvious that she wants to take her time with this. just like nancy does.
"oh robin..." nancy's eyes have fallen shut, which gives her no warning when robin begins toying a singular finger to her entrance. her eyes fly open at that but before she has time to fully comprehend it, she pushes it inside and she cries out loud. the noise has robin clenching around nothing between her own legs because she can head just how good nancy is feeling because of her.
she pumps it into her a couple of times, attentively watching what nancy seems to like before the woman above her lets out a whiny "more please" and she adds a second one to it. the pushes it into her slowly but nancy takes it all, moaning as she stretches her further.
"oh- oh my god robin- right there fuck" she moans.
robin wastes no time in getting her mouth back on her and syncing the licks of her tongue over her clit with the thrusts of her fingers. "you're so pretty like this" she mumbles against her and the vibration of her voice goes right into nancy's aching cunt. after a couple of minutes of this, of slow thrusts and licking, she starts picking up her pace. she can feel nancy growing slightly impatient; hips rolling with each curl of her fingers and fingernails scratching her scalp in a desperate attempt to have her closer.
she gets a reaction out of her immediately. the volume of her moans increases and she can feel her legs shaking around her head.
"robin- shit robin- i'm- i'm close" nancy gasps, her back arching off the mattress while she rocks her hips forward in quick motions, chasing her orgasm. "please- please robin please"
"shh" robin hushes her and puts a palm to her stomach to ground her back down onto the bed. "don't worry nance, i told you i got you"
and with that, she picks up her pace again, much quicker this time. high pitched moans echo through the room as nancy grabs for robin's other hand that is still sitting on her thigh and holds onto it for dear life as she comes. robin fucks her through it, and allows her to ride her orgasm out on her tongue; she just lays it flatly against her, and nancy does the rest of it.
nancy's moans are louder than she has ever heard them. she sounds so fucking pretty, robin thinks to herself.
eventually, nancy's orgasm has washed over her and she comes down from her height. she is panting, her chest rising and falling while her eyes are still closed and she is leaning back.
"holy shit" she breathes and chuckles, the aftershocks still rippling through her limbs.
"yeah..." robin mumbles, chin and fingers covered in nancy's cum. "holy shit"
"god" nancy opens her arms. she sounds still breathless but her gaze settles firmly on robin. "come here please"
that's all the woman needs to hear. she slowly withdraws her fingers from her, still careful not to accidentally overstimulate her right now. once she has pulled all the way out, she crawls up her body and nancy wraps her arms around her to hold her especially close. she kisses all over her, every part of her head she can reach: her hair, her forehead, her cheeks, her nose. "thank you" she manages in between kisses. "oh thank you robin..."
robin just smiles, allows her to hold onto her as she recovers from her orgasm.
she's not sure what this means yet, not sure what will happen once they finish whatever this is. she knows she wants nancy to stay. not just for the night but for much longer. she knows that letting her go again would be too much for her to bare after she has lost her once before.
so she holds her just a tiny bit closer to her own body, strokes just a little bit more of her skin she can reach, and whispers sweet nothings to her to steady her racing heart. makes use of everything she can get as long as she has it, the fear of nancy leaving slowly creeping into her head.
little does she know that nancy, who is running her fingers through her hair as she enjoys the soft kisses and touches on her skin, has already made up her mind. that for the first time ever, nancy is not afraid to make a choice this fundamental.
nancy knows what she really, truly wants. she knows she wants robin.
and she will show her just how much...
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. currently very tempted to write a part 2 so...

Hi Kat,
I know you have quite a big following so I want to ask you something, just to see if any of your followers or even you experienced something similar. I apologize for a very long message btw.
The topic is: A STRANGER CLAIMS THEY KNOW YOU BUT YOU HAVE ACTUALLY NEVER MET THEM.
Firstly I would just like to say that I don't do drugs or drink. I'm a few years older than you, so while yes I'm 31 I'm still not an old grandma and my memory is pretty good.
I'm a person who still recalls how the voices of my ex-classmates sound (when I read books, or anything else, I read it with a voice in my head... if you know what I mean. I can recall voices I like and read text in that voice), I still know their names and last names. Except I don't know all the last names of my classmates that I went to high school with for 4 months (but I remember how they looked like, sounded like and I know their names, I just don't know last names of some people who had pretty long or complicated last names).
Now to the story. Last year I went to pay a lottery ticket for my dad. He plays a lottery ticket every week. I don't really know what this little store is called in English, we call it "trafika". You can pay lottery tickets there, you can pay bills, they sell magazines, some alcohol, cigarettes, little chocolate bars, chewing gums... and that's pretty much it. It's very small. A woman owns this store and she has 1 employee. One works in the morning, another one in the evening.
Last year, it was during summer break time I saw a new cashier - most likely the owner took some time off.
The new cashier wasn't rude looking or anything, but when I stepped into the store I got such an odd vibe, just a very uncomfortable feeling. This happens a lot to me... it's like an intuition I guess. And I'm usually right because when I get an odd vibe from someone something usually goes wrong.
I wanted to pay the lottery ticket when the woman called me by my name. I was quite surprised since I had never seen this woman in my life. She told me her name and because I was looking at her confused she told me she used to be my classmate.
I went to some high school for 4 months before I changed schools. Her name wasn't common, and I was even more confused because I would 100% remember a unique name. I have never had a classmate with that name.
I'm a loner, a quiet type so she would 100% not know me if she weren't my classmate. But even if I'm a loner I did speak with those classmates, heck I was forced to when we had to do stuff in groups and so on, so I 100% interacted with all my classmates at some point.
She even told me the name of the school I went to. I told her that I don't remember her at all, she seemed kind of disappointed and a bit mad, but since I saw this woman for the first time in my life I didn't feel the need to lie and pretend I did know her. I just felt like it would be more awkward if I lied. I paid for the lottery ticket and I said bye to her and told her I had to go because I was in a hurry (that was a lie but oh well. Her mad stare was kinda making me feel awkward so I just wanted to go asap)
The next week I didn't pay lottery ticket there but I went to the post office instead because this interaction kinda freaked me out a bit. I even crossed the street when I walked by in the next few days. But after a few days, the owner was back (you can see easily inside because it's a glass window and that woman never returned since then). I don't even know how many days that woman worked there because for 3 days I was too freaked out to even look at that direction, I know it sounds silly. And the day I looked there the owner was back. So I guess she was there less than 3 days?
What else gave me the creeps is... she really wanted to convince me that we knew each other. Something about that just felt off to me.
I know like 15 years passed since then but I swear to you on my life I don't remember ever meeting this person. I remember people who take the same bus as me, even if I see them on that bus once every month. And I don't brag I can recognize every person I have ever seen, because I can't. But if I remember a random person I see on the bus once per month, I'm sure I would remember this woman like I remember every single one of my classmates. This is why I feel crazy.
I deleted my facebook ages ago, and when I had facebook I was never sharing personal info like which school I went to or where I worked. So it's not like she was bored, saw me on social media, and decided to prank me.
I listen to yt stories sometimes and some stories are about how people shifted into a different reality. These are just interesting stories to me, nothing more. But that day I felt like this woman met another me in some different parallel universe, I know it seems crazy.
I find the idea of a parallel universe interesting but I don't know if I believe in all this, but it just felt like she is from a different reality where she met me. And in this reality, I never met her.
I lost all touch with ex classmates (they also live far away from me so it's not like I can run into them either) I can't ask anyone else if they remember her.
I usually don't message you on anon, but in this case, I will turn on the anon button... because I feel kinda crazy. Some time passed already but whenever I walk by I always think of this incident. And I was just curious if anyone else experienced something like that?
I agree that it's odd, but I don't believe in reality shifting and I think it's far more likely that you genuinely forgot one classmate after 15 years than that she's from a different reality. Even if your memory is unusually excellent

Atla x Ninjago
I am so surprised by the small number of Avatar and Ninjago AUs/Crossovers, genuinely thought there'd be loads more, so I thought of my own :D
(Now, this isn't going to follow the Avatar story really, but the Fire Nation still attacked because they had their whole industrial revolution. They're still feared by the other nations and the people are still against anything Fire Nation. Does an Airbender genocide happen? Not to the same extent anyways. Maybe the same way the southern pole was attacked, the Fire Nation focused on only two temples or something. Speaking of the poles, they were left mostly untouched with only a few attacks ever happening)
I'll start in the fire nation. A fire bender met a water bender in the Earth Kingdom and they fell in love. They lived in the Fire Nation and had two kids. They were delighted when Kai started bending, Ray told the whole neighborhood. Nya, being three years old, wanted to make fire too. She was told she could start bending when she got to Kai's age. And on one hot summer's day the next year, she bent water.
Her family was delighted. Maya made her best chewy cookies. Ray did not shut up about it for weeks, he just Had to say how proud he was every time he saw her. Six year old Kai was utterly delighted that he now had someone new to play fight with! Their parents, however, were quick to stop them. No one could see Nya water bending. If she wanted to bend, she had to stick to small things in the house, watering the plants, washing the dishes or making shapes of animals or people to go along with stories, like Maya does at bedtime.
(Kai always wanted to make the funny shapes, but when he got his dad to teach him they could never make them look as friendly with all the sharp edges of their flames.)
They end up moving house quite a few times due to neighbors hearing "excessive splashing" (and Kai shouting in protest every time it so happened to be dumped on him) from their yard. You couldn't keep Nya Smith inside doing baby shapes. Not when Kai got to practice out in the open all day if he wanted to. Not when Kai got to go to a special class after school to get better. She loved her brother, but it just wasn't fair.
Shortly after Nya's eleventh birthday they moved again. But it'd be different this time. They'd be going to the South Pole to learn water bending properly. But they'd be leaving Ray and Kai behind. It certainly wasn't their first choice, but it was the best one they could think of. They couldn't just stop Nya from bending all her life, that'd be cruelty. So they organized the trip, said their goodbyes, and set off.
The first thing they did once they arrived was buy Nya a couple of parkas. She was absolutely frozen. She may be a water bender, but she grew up in the fire nation. The next order of business was to find a teacher. Maya said she had gotten a bit rusty and that it'd be better to find a master anyways. Luckily for them, the local master was available. Sorla was impressed by their story and agreed to teach Nya water bending. Nya already had the basics and learned the more advanced moves very quickly, surpassing older students
(AAAAAAA I had so much more written but it just didn't save.)
Everything Nya learned, she learned to perfection. So she was getting really annoyed with Sorla making her stop everything for a day and focus on Ice. Nya did not get ice. She couldn't understand it. She couldn't bend it, it was solid. It was stubborn, like her, and refused to listen to her.
Besides, who cared if Nya could bend ice or not?! She's good at everything else, why does she have to be good at making ice cubes! She'll just make up for it with her Water bending, she's one of the best at that! Luckily for her, she'll have a new friend soon enough who'll have her back.
Zane Julien was born and raised in the South Pole by his father Dr. Julien. While he has the title Doctor, he's no healer. He makes gadgets for the town to help in their daily lives. He's a friendly man but he keeps mostly to himself up in his house with his son.
When Zane started bending, Dr. Julien was delighted with him. He set out to find the best teacher that very day. He found an old friend, who had left for the Earth Kingdom years ago, had returned and started teaching "specialized bending". Zane got started with him a couple of days later.
When this teacher started to teach Zane the basics of water bending, Zane was having quite a bit of trouble. He couldn't understand the flow of water, a slight obstacle in the way of learning water bending. His form was stiff and any water he did bend was choppy. His teacher decided to give ice a try before giving up on him. He was so glad he did.
Zane took to ice bending like a turtleduck to water, mastering every move he was taught and sculpting any object asked for in seconds. Need ice in a drink? Odd request for the South Pole but Zane's got you. Need a chair? Zane has your back. Need an ice spike to spear the heart of your enemy? You've lost him. Zane will use every defensive move he knows before ever attempting to go offense. He will always fight for those close to him and protect them with his life.
Zane eventually became known in the outskirts of town as the Ice Guy. Few knew of his inability to actually bend water, but all respected his skill. Any curious children who haven't quite got the hang of certain techniques can always be sure that Zane will help in any way he can. Any non-benders who just want to see some cool tricks always go home with a sculpture of their favorite animal.
Once, while making the trip into town to get the weekly shopping, Zane hears many frustrated shouts come from a clearing. Always the curious type, he goes toward the sound to see what the problem is. He finds a young girl punching a tree and an older woman watching her, waiting patiently for her to calm down.
"I don't know why you still make me do this!" The young girl groaned. The woman bowed her head like she was preparing for a rant she had heard many times before. "I'll never need to use ice if I'm already a Master Waterbender! No one even cares about ice, I don't, this tree doesn't and I'm sure that man over there doesn't!" She pointed at Zane, who was very surprised to be roped into this argument. The girl growled and started punching the tree again while the woman gave Zane a small smile. "Don't mind her, she can get quite mad sometimes."
"I actually do care about ice" Zane said. Nya paused and turned towards him. "I wasn't asking you, I just said it because you were standing there!" Zane made an 'o' with his mouth in understanding. "Why do you even care about ice?" Nya asked as she walked up to him. "It's a frozen block of water that doesn't move, you can't do anything with it!"
Zane thought about it a moment before giving his answer. Would he really entrust this information with this girl he just met? "Because I cannot bend anything else." Apparently he will. Nya gave him a funny look. "You can bend ice... and nothing else? Not even water?" Zane shook his head. "Water never really came to me, even when I sought it out. It was only from pure boredom my teacher even tried ice."
"You can't be a waterbender then," Sorla said. "We'll have to call you an Icebender." A small smile came to her face with her suggestion. Nya rolled her eyes, still in her bad mood. "There's no such thing as an 'icebender' Master Sorla, he's still a waterbender." "But I cannot bend water, just ice" Zane reminded her "I could show you a few simple moves if you'd like." Nya just huffed and crossed her arms. "Come back tomorrow," Sorla suggested. "She might be more agreeable after a nights rest."
Zane agreed and left to go get the shopping, but not before asking Nya her favorite animal.
Nya arrived home with a sculpture of a badgerfrog that looked like the sculptor only had a vague idea of what the animal was.

Chapter II
For about the millionth time that night you looked down at the wristwatch you had received as a graduation present the previous summer. If you were late to get your siblings home before their curfew again you would never hear the end of it from your mom and you knew your dad would follow through with his threat of taking your keys. You stomped on the gas as you sped into Hawkins High's parking lot and drove right up to the front doors where your brother, sister, and another person sat on the curb waiting.
You lowered the volume on the radio and yelled out the open window, "Get in! We have ten minutes to get home before Mom and Dad accuse me of forgetting you losers."
"But you did forget us." Lucas grumbled as he slid into the passenger seat.
"Were you off somewhere with Daniel?" Erica mocked as she got into the backseat. "I'm surprised you have any lips left, you two were probably sucking each other's faces for hours."
You ignored her and turned to the older guy who had gotten to his feet at the same time as your siblings. You recognized him immediately as Eddie Munson, the guy in town most people avoided like the plague.
"Thanks." You called to him. "Had some errands to run." You heard Erica scoff and shot her a threatening look in the rearview mirror. "Need a ride? I have get them home now, but I can give you a lift once I've dropped them off." You looked down at your watch again.
"I've gotta ride." The long-haired man nodded toward the only other vehicle in the parking lot, an old van parked way out from the building. "Just wanted to make sure they got picked up."
You nodded your thanks again, stepped on the gas, and peeled out of the parking lot. You didn't speak again until you had pulled into your driveway with three minutes to spare; you turned to face your brother and sister with a stern face.
"There was a traffic jam."
"Yeah, yeah. We won by the way, if anyone cares." Lucas grumbled and got out of the car.
"The hell's his problem?"
"No one went to his game. Mom and Dad had that dinner thing, I had Hellfire, and you had... what? What was so important that you couldn't go, again?" Erica asked with a smug smirk.
As the two of you got out of the car another thought hit you and you wrapped an arm firmly around your sister's shoulders and pulled her close. "You guys hang out with Eddie Munson?"
"Yeah, he's dungeon master for Hellfire. He offered us a ride since we all thought you'd stood us up, but Lucas said you'd kick our asses if you ended up coming and we weren't there." She looked up into your face and saw a bit of curiosity as you tried to recall any memories of him from high school. "You'd like him, he only produces about three thoughts every hour - you have a lot in common." She wriggled her way out of your grip before you could register what she had said and darted into the house.
That following Friday you were dragged by your parents to Lucas's basketball game because he had complained for days about not having anyone there to support him the last time. Erica had one of her Hellfire meetings and had disappeared almost as soon as the three of you had entered the high school. When the game was finally over you left the gym to wait outside for the rest of your family because you needed the fresh air. You didn't do well in crowds but didn't like to draw attention to it, either. As you rounded the corner you saw another door fly open and a group of laughing boys flooded the hall, one who you immediately recognized.
"Dustin!"
He looked shocked that you had addressed him by name. Among Lucas's friends you weren't necessarily known as the nicest older sister.
"Hey, Erica's in there, it's her week to help Eddie clean." Dustin explained and nervously played with the straps of his backpack.
"Mm." You examined his Hellfire Club t-shirt with a raised brow. "You guys aren't turning my sister into a devil worshipper, are you?"
Dustin shook his head fiercely. "No! Why does everyone think that?"
You pointed to the picture on his shirt, but when he looked down you flicked his nose; he stumbled back a few steps and you laughed. Just then, three more people emerged from the dark room: Mike Wheeler, Erica, and Eddie.
"You two have a ride?" You pointed between Dustin and Mike.
Mike nodded. "Nancy's waiting for us outside." He nudged Dustin and they took off for the doors.
You turned your attention to Erica. "Please go congratulate Lucas, he's still in the gym celebrating." You made yourself look stern as your sister started to protest; she sighed and angrily stomped away.
Eddie chuckled beside you.
"Any tips on how to get her to listen to you?"
You watched him from the corner of your eye. "I taught her everything she knows about being defiant, she has a few ounces of respect for her teacher... but she also knows that I'm not above physical force if and when needed." You added. "We've had our fair share of tussles."
"I didn't know you were related to Lucas and Erica. They're pretty cool kids."
Erica had turned the corner and walked out of sight, so you faced Eddie head on and held out your hand as you introduced yourself.
"I know." He chuckled and shook your hand. "We had some classes together last year. Eddie Munson."
You examined him a bit closer but it wasn't until your eyes landed on the leather jacket and denim vest in his hands that you remembered why he felt so familiar to you.
"You sold to me once!" You exclaimed, then looked around to make sure you were still the only ones in the hallway. "Behind the school, at that picnic table."
His smile grew even wider. "I knew you'd remember!"
You smiled back and pointed toward the doors. "I was on my way out."
"Yeah, right." Eddie pulled on his jacket and vest. "But uh, just wanted you to know... you don't have to worry about Lucas and Erica, I, uh... I wouldn't do anything..."
The sound of a large crowd echoed through the halls - the stampede was coming in your direction. You looked up to see the basketball fans who had finally wrapped up their celebration in the gym; you stepped closer to Eddie and mumbled in his ear.
"Yeah, I know, I just like to give people a hard time. But if you do wanna be a bad influence, at least for a few minutes, could I buy a joint off of you? My guy got his ass arrested."
"Rick?"
"How'd you know?"
"You're always in the know when you're in the business." He nodded. "Yeah, I think I could do that."
You smiled. "I'm gonna tell my parents that I found a ride with someone, meet you at your van?"
Eddie nodded again and smiled. He looked up as the crowd drew nearer then made a beeline for the doors. Your family reached you before you could even peel your eyes away from his retreating figure.
"Congrats." You smiled and poked your brother in the chest.
"Thanks." He beamed.
"What're you doing out here?" Your dad asked.
"Waiting for you. Hey, Nancy Wheeler is outside picking up her brother, I think I'm gonna catch a ride with her if that's okay? We haven't hung out in a while."
Erica's eyes narrowed and wandered to the doors Eddie had just walked through. "You haven't hung out with Nancy Wheeler in years." She reminded you.
You gave her a tight-lipped smile. "No time like the present." You retorted.
Your mom sighed when she sensed one of your squabbles on the horizon. "Fine, but make it home in one piece, please. We'll leave the back door unlocked." She gave you a one armed hug, grabbed your dad's hand, and led him and Lucas out of the building.
Erica, however, stayed put.
"Where're you going?"
"To hang out with Nancy, why don't you buzz off?"
"Mhm. Looked like you and Eddie were having a good conversation."
You laughed. "Wow, maybe you are smarter than you look."
She rolled her eyes and purposefully bumped into you as she left.
You waited until you saw your dad's car leave the parking lot before you went outside. You started in the direction of Eddie's van with your head down, mostly to keep people from noticing you, but also to keep the cold night air from freezing your nose as you practically jogged. You jumped into the passenger seat and closed the door quickly behind you. It was quiet as Eddie stared at you, an unrolled joint in his hands.
"Was I not supposed to get in?" You asked, confused.
"No, I mean, yeah! Yeah, of course. It's cold." He turned his attention back to rolling.
"There's an empty house a street down from my place that's for sale - we could smoke in the backyard. There's a porch swing." You suggested. "I've been using it ever since the old owners put it up for sale and hightailed it out of Hawkins."
"We?" Eddie looked up again.
Your face fell. "Unless you don't want you?"
His cheeks went red. "I just... I'd figured you would want to, I don't know, enjoy it by yourself?"
"What's the fun in that?" You asked and rested your head against the seat. You watched the slow procession of cars as they emptied the parking lot. "I think I'm gonna lose my mind if I don't talk to someone my own age instead of my siblings or parents for a change. Ever since the semester started and all my friends went back to their fancy schools I've been stuck here slowly being bored to death."
It was silent in the van until Eddie handed you the perfectly rolled joint with a kind smile. "If you were looking for a friend all you had to do was ask, sweetheart. Which way to this empty house?"
Tumblr media
Eddie's driving was even wilder than yours, so you were happy to find yourself on the porch swing, your legs tucked underneath you and an old moth bitten blanket that Eddie had found in the back of his van pulled around your shoulders. He had offered to save you from freezing to death by just smoking in the van, but you had declined - you liked being outside, especially at night while everyone else was asleep. It was peaceful and gave you some time to think.
You watched as Eddie lit the joint, his puffy lips wrapped around the end and his face still with concentration. He took a long drag then passed it to you and you did the same.
"Why didn't we talk in school?" You asked after a coughing fit.
"You were cooler than me." He stated matter-of-factly.
You shook your head. You had not been unpopular in high school, but you had always considered yourself more of a floater. You could get along with the band members just as well as you could with people like Steve Harrington. Your lack of a true "clique" was partially why you had never felt like you belonged anywhere.
"That's not true."
"Well, there's also the fact that you have this way of looking through people instead of at them." He took the joint from your fingers and you jumped when his hand bumped into yours. "Sorry." He apologized quickly.
"I've heard that before. My dad says that I have a 'zombie stare', I always thought he was just being dramatic or one of those guys who's always telling women to smile." You chuckled. "Can I tell you something? I think you're pretty cool, like how you don't give a fuck what people think. I care what people think and it's probably the dumbest thing someone could do."
He looked down and if the two of you weren't surrounded by darkness with just moonlight and the faintly burning joint to add hints of light you would have seen that his entire face had turned scarlet.
"What's college like?" He quickly changed the subject.
"Junior college." You corrected him with a sigh. "And I feel like I'm just as lost as I was in high school. I have no idea what I'm doing."
"What's your major?"
"Business."
"Ah, the default." He joked and you shot him a grin.
"Yeah."
He started to slowly push his feet against the ground so that the swing moved. He couldn't sit still to save his life, meanwhile you could have sat there in that one spot for hours without getting the urge to fidget. You watched as the wind from the swing pushed his hair back and forth over his shoulders and how his big brown eyes examined the large backyard you had trespassed into.
"Hey, Eddie?"
"Mhm?"
"I do need a friend. This is me asking nicely."
"Yeah, okay." He almost blinded you with his smile. "Okay. What're you doing tomorrow?"
You let out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding. "Whatever you're doing."
For the first time in a long time, you were excited for what the next day would bring.

Chapter 4
Many centuries passed and the first millennium of the Third Age came to a close. The elves of Thranduil’s realm prospered and had made great strides in replenishing their numbers after losing so many at the end of the previous age. They were happy and their joy made Thranduil happy too but he did not feel whole. He missed someone, someone he feared he would never see again. Ranyare had indeed lived unbothered in Fangorn but recently she had begun experiencing a strange series of dreams. She saw a black cloud moving over the trees until they became dark and twisted. It felt so real and dreadful but she tried to put it out of her mind. One afternoon she was walking to the spring to fetch water when a small yellow bird began circling her head and chirping cheerily. Many birds had been her friends throughout her life and this was the most recent one to befriend her. “Good morning little bird.” The bird noted that she looked tired and she explained the distressing dreams she had been having. “I do not believe this is a vision of Fangorn. I think it might be Greenwood. I do not know what to do.” “Yes you do. Follow your heart.” These words came from the bird but were not spoken as usual. Ranyare heard them in her mind and the voice was that of a man, warm and comforting. Before she could question this, she heard the voice again. “Follow me!” and the bird flew back in the direction of her camp. As she was running to keep up with the bird, she knew she must go to Greenwood. “I will send you help” the bird said as they reached her camp, now speaking as it normally did, and then flew off through the trees. Ranyare quickly packed a few things and just as she finished, a large deer came out from the trees and knelt down indicating she was to get on its back. She rode the animal to the edge of the forest and was then on her own from there. She walked day and night only stopping for short periods to rest until the edge of the wood was in sight.
As soon as she walked in amongst the trees, she could feel a change in the atmosphere. It was a lovely Summer day but the air suddenly felt colder and almost claustrophobic the closer she got to Amon Lanc. When she was close enough to see the fort off in the distance she stopped and was frozen in place. Orcs walked along the parapets and she could see none of the elven soldiers. She quietly snuck around to the back of the guardhouse, the entrance to the old city, and saw the bodies of the slain elves. One elf however remained alive as she saw his chest moving up and down in very shallow breaths. She could see no orcs from her position so she quickly ran to him and knelt down beside him. “If I help you, do you think you can walk?” she asked looking into his eyes. “No” he said in a raspy voice as each breath became more labored. “I must get you out of here somehow.” “No. Tell the…king we…were ambushed. They…mean to…take…the fort.” “I will not leave you. Not again” she said as she grabbed his hand and held it tightly to her chest against her heart. He did not understand what she meant by ‘not again’ as he delivered his final words. “You…must…warn…them. Please…go.” She watched as the last bit of life left his body and his head fell limply to the side and away from her gaze.
Realizing she could do no more for him, she let him go and began to run. The tears flew from her face as she dashed through the forest. She was not alone however as an orc thought he heard something and he was also running her way. Ranyare heard his footsteps as he began to close the distance between them. She stopped and quickly climbed up a tree hoping he would soon give up and retreat back to the fort. She held tight to the tree trunk as she sat crouched on the branch watching the creature stalk around below her. “I smell you elf!” he shouted with disdain. He soon sniffed out her location and began to climb the tree with a sickening smile on his ugly face. Ranyare reached into her pocket to retrieve her knife, unfolded the blade, and then hid it behind her back. “A she-elf! You’ll regret crossing my path girlie” he said with a sickening smile as he got close enough to see her. His voice nearly made her blood run cold but she took a deep breath and once the orc was within reach, she sliced his throat with one quick movement. He made a horrible gurgling sound as his black blood spurted out onto her and then he fell, landing with a thud and the sounds of bones cracking. Ranyare couldn’t see any others who may have followed him so she climbed down and ran.
She only stopped when she reached a point where she could barely breath and would stay still for no than a few minutes until she started running again. Her long legs carried her quickly across the great distance to the Woodland Realm and when she at last reached the entry gate she banged on the door and screamed for them to let her inside. “I must…see the king” she said practically panting as she desperately tried to catch her breath. The guards recognized her and one of them ran to fetch Thranduil. She was in a terrible state as she still clutched the knife in one hand and was splattered with orc blood. Her silver hair was practically wet through and through with sweat and stuck to her face and neck. The king came out to find her sitting on the ground still trying to recover from her great endeavor. Without saying a word, Thranduil picked her up and carried her inside to the room she had once used. Each time she tried to speak he would shush her and tell her to rest. He could feel how quickly her pulse was still racing and her breaths were short and shallow. He laid her gently on the bed and managed to pry the knife from her hand and place it on the bedside table. He then called out for his butler Galion. “Bring us some Miruvor and water immediately!” He sat on the edge of the bed beside her and held her hand. “Are you hurt?” She shook her head ‘no’. “Try to breathe slowly and deeply” he said doing it himself as an example for her to follow. Ranyare did the same and after a bit, she felt better. Galion brought the drinks and Thranduil poured her a small glass of the Miruvor used by the elves as a type of healing cordial. After she drank it, he offered her a glass of water which she also quickly drank and then asked for another.
“Tell me what happened to put you in such a state” he asked as he pulled her hair away from her face. “Orcs have taken Amon Lanc. They killed everyone there. One soldier was still clinging to life and he told me they wanted the fort. I tried to save him but…he was too far gone and he…he died in my arms.” Thranduil’s heart nearly stopped at this surprising and dreadful news. He pulled her up towards him and held her tight. “He told me to run and I did. I had to warn you” she said and she squeezed him tightly as well. “You have orc blood on you. What…” “One chased after me and I killed him. No others followed” she explained not letting him finish his question. “How did this happen? Why were you there?” He pulled away just far enough so he could look in her beautiful grey-violet eyes that he had seen so many times in his dreams. “I have been dreaming of a darkness covering the forest. I believed it was Greenwood and I knew I needed to warn you.” “I have felt something strange myself of late but could not understand it” Thranduil said and then he kissed the top of her head and gave her one more embrace before he let her go and stood up. “How many orcs did you see?” His voice was now strong and determined. “Fewer than a dozen but I do not know how many were there that I did not see.” “I must go at once. Please stay here until I return. Promise me you will.” “I promise. But you must also promise me that you will come back unharmed” she said as she lay down on the pillow still quite exhausted. He smiled and said, “I will do my best.”
A company of his most capable soldiers were quickly assembled and they rode in haste to Amon Lanc. The orcs were no match for these fierce elves and they dispatched them all but one. The prisoner was brought before the king whose silver armor shone brightly in the sun causing the orc to wince and squirm in a futile attempt to get away from the light. “How did you come to ambush my soldiers?” Thranduil said coldly looking down at the wretched creature who was kneeling before him. “You’ll never know…elf.” He said the last word with much disgust and then spit upon the king’s boots. The soldier holding the ropes tied around the orc’s hands behind his back yanked it a little tighter but the king gave him a look as if to say not to be too rough. “Your kind is not clever enough to have done something like this on your own. If you tell me what I want to know, I will allow you to leave here alive and return with a message to whoever sent you that our forest will never fall to your kind.” The orc laughed and said, “You are no match for the one who sent me. He means to have this forest and you can’t stop him. They didn’t see us coming because we were hidden from sight. Oh yes, he is that powerful. But I will give him your message all the same.” “Release him” Thranduil said and the soldier jerked him up onto his feet and cut his bonds. “You will not win this fight elf.” Those were the last words that orc ever spoke as the king’s sword moved swiftly and silently separating his head from his body in one stroke.
--
Thranduil entered the room where Ranyare slept. It was mid-afternoon the day following her arrival, but she was still recovering her strength as she had pushed herself to the very limit of elven endurance to reach them as quickly as she did. He picked up the chair in front of the vanity table and placed it beside the bed so he could sit near her. Her pack was sitting on the bedside table and he noticed something sticking out of it that looked familiar. He pulled it free and realized it was the tube containing the drawing he had given her and when he opened it and found the paper still inside, it warmed his heart and he smiled.
“I knew that was you, even before I opened my eyes” Ranyare said as she awoke and turned to face her visitor. “And how exactly did you know that?” he asked with a smirk. “You always smell of Vetiver. I like it. It is warm and comforting, like being in the heart of the forest. A very kind elleth gave me some lovely rose scented soap for my bath. I have always made my own soap but it is fairly crude and did not have such nice scents. Oh, I know I am babbling; I suppose I do not want to hear any bad news you may have brought. I am however very glad to see you returned safely.” “We all returned safely and we brought back our fallen brethren so they may be properly laid to rest.” “That is very good news indeed” she said sitting up. Thranduil didn’t yet have the heart to tell her the rest of the troubling tale and decided he would save that for another time. “I should go and let you rest. I only wanted to check and make sure you were doing well.” He rose and moved towards the door. “I am feeling much better. Could we dine together later?” “That would be wonderful” he said as left her and then immediately went to the kitchen to plan the perfect meal.
Later that day, he knocked on her door and announced that dinner was ready. “You look lovely” Thranduil said as she was wearing a simple light blue dress and had put her hair in a long braid. “Thank you” she replied as she blushed a bit at the compliment. “Is that the staff I made for you?” she asked as he held it in his hand. “Yes. I was planning to leave it as you made it but after you left I had it plated in silver. If it was the only thing I had to remember you by, I wanted it to last.” Ranyare smiled and took his arm as they walked to the dining room. “I kept your drawing as well” she confessed. He already knew this but he said nothing about it, simply smiling instead. “I hope you still like venison and roasted potatoes with honey cakes for dessert.” “You remembered” she said a bit surprised that he had indeed remembered that had been her favorite meal when she spent the Winter with him so many centuries ago. He looked her in the eye and said in a very serious tone, “I have forgotten nothing about the time we have spent together.”
They enjoyed their meal and then went outside to spend the Summer evening in his private garden. She had not seen it when she was there earlier as the plants went dormant for the cold Winter. He knew the name of every flower and bush and seemed to beam with pride as he showed her around. “Do you tend the garden yourself?” Ranyare asked. “I do. It was my mother’s and I helped her with it from time to time. Before she sailed West, I promised her I would always look after it.” “You have done a fine job. Everything is so beautiful. I do not think I have ever seen roses this color” she said as she stopped to admire the blooms that were a shade of pale purple. “A result of my mother’s very green thumb. My father used to tease her that she spent more time in her garden some days than with him.” His face practically lit up when he spoke of his parents. Ranyare had long wondered what it was like to have parents or a family. She was fine on her own but there was always a tiny bit of her that couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to be part of a family. “Speaking of your father, how are you doing in regards to dealing with your anger towards him?” Before answering, Thranduil sat down on the stone bench in the center of the garden and she sat beside him. “I have forgiven him. None of us are perfect and while he did have his flaws, pride and stubborness in particular, he was a good ellon and a wonderful father.” “I am glad to hear that” she said truly happy for him. “How have you been?” he asked. Ranyare sighed and then answered him truthfully. “I am tired. So very tired of carrying this pain for so long.” “I would do anything to lessen your grief and burden.” She looked up at him and smiled. “Part of the reason I returned was to warn you of what I saw in my dreams but I also wanted to see you again. Your friendship was very special to me. I often felt at peace when you would visit and I have missed that…missed you.”  “I felt a true kinship with you and it hurt me quite deeply when you left.” “I am sorry. Is there any possibility that I could have your forgiveness as well?” “I would forgive you in an instant mellon nin, but I do not wish to repeat this cycle. Will you stay for a while and then run away once again?” Ranyare hung her head and was quiet for a bit. “I am tired of running. I am tired of solitude.” He gently lifted her chin with his fingers and said, “Then stay here, with me.”  She nodded and he put his arm around her and she leaned her head against his neck and closed her eyes. For a moment, they both felt a sense of overwhelming peace and they stayed in that same spot for many hours until the sun rose.
Thranduil left her to have breakfast alone as he had business to attend to although he would have much preferred to stay with Ranyare. She did not see him for much of the day and when she caught sight of Galion in the late afternoon, she asked about him. “He will join you for supper my lady.” The king’s long-time friend and faithful butler had been sworn to secrecy by Thranduil as to the nature of his business as he wanted to tell her himself. “If you do not mind my saying, we are glad to have you back amongst us and your presence has greatly lifted Thranduil’s spirits. He has not quite been the same since you left long ago.” She smiled and thanked him for the kind words. Her heart beat a little faster too knowing how much he had missed her, just as much as she had missed him.
“What does this mean?” asked one of the realm’s elder members as he along with several other elves were gathered in Thranduil’s throne room including key figures of their defense forces. “I am not sure but I can tell you that something nefarious has taken up residence at the old fort and I do not believe it is a force we can fight with swords and arrows” the king replied. “Please my lord, tell us exactly how it looked and what you felt” one of the marchwardens asked. “We easily dispatched the orcs and as we were leaving, I saw it from the corner of my eye. I turned and could see a dark cloud low in the sky moving towards the fort. It settled over the structure and all around it everything became very dark. I order the soldiers to retreat back to the tree line as I moved closer to it. My horse was reticent to go so I made my way on foot. With each step I could feel the presence of something evil bearing down upon me until I could physically go no further.” This stunned the elves as they knew their king to be one of their strongest members, both in body and in will. “I fell back with the others and we watched for quite some time with no change in situation.” “I am loathe to utter this name, but it is possible Sauron has returned?” one of the younger elves, who was born after the Dark Lord’s defeat, asked. Thranduil couldn’t help but shutter at that name but this was also something he had wondered. “I suppose it is possible. It is also a possibility that it may be one of his minions, perhaps one of the Nazgul.” “Surely we will not simply accept this abomination!” one elf practically shouted as this was quite an upsetting situation. “Of course we will not” Thranduil said calmly. “I have sent a company to monitor the situation and I have also sent letters to King Amroth and Lord Elrond asking if they have had any similar troubles.”
The meeting ended and the king went to join his guest in the dining room. She could tell something was upsetting him and as they waited for the meal to be served, he explained to her what he had seen. Neither spoke while they ate and as their appetites were both diminished, they merely picked at their food and ate little. “Come with me” Thranduil said tenderly as he rose and extended his hand to her. She took his hand without speaking and together they walked to the garden. “Are we to be left alone once again to fight this enduring evil?” Ranyare asked as they walked along the little path. Her voice was weary and filled with anxiety. “Eru made this world and the Ainur helped shape it, and it is for us, all the children of Ilúvatar and we must defend and protect it. They have not abandoned us but instead they give us the strength and wisdom to do what must be done.” She was quiet for a while and then she began to think of all the times birds had come to talk with her. They gave her news of the world and were often quite helpful such as the one who brought her the deer who enabled her to quickly reach the edge of Fangorn on her way to warn Thranduil. Suddenly she halted as the realization dawned on her that maybe her dream was a warning from them and that those were not mere birds after all. “Thranduil, I think you may be right. Perhaps they have been helping us in ways we did not even realize.” He was surprised at her words but delighted in hearing them. “Often have the Valar come to our aid. Ulmo gave Turgon the inspiration to build the hidden realm of Gondolin and then also sent Tuor to warn him of its impending destruction. The Númenóreans were given multiple warnings in the forms of clouds shaped like Manwë’s great eagles to turn away from Sauron’s evil ministrations. We have free will and do not have to follow their signs or advice, but they do still often try to help.” She smiled up at him and said, “I have been so blind and so consumed by my own failings that I did not see. It was easier to blame them for not helping us sooner than to face my own weakness.”
Just at that moment, a small yellow bird flew by them and landed on a nearby rose bush. A bright glow began to emanate from around the bird and in a flash it had changed into the shape of a tall man. He stood before them clothed in a long green robe with his dark hair falling loosely over both shoulders. His bright eyes looked upon them both with love and his smile quickly put them at ease. “I am Taurënur, a Maia in the service of Oromë. Long have I waited for this day when your faith would be restored and you would know peace.” Ranyare recognized his voice as the one she had heard in her mind when last she saw the little yellow bird. “It was you. All those times, all the different birds, it was you” she said stepping towards him. “Yes my child. I was sent from Oromë to watch over you. It has laid heavy on his heart that he was not able to save all the firstborn of Ilúvatar from suffering at Morgoth’s hands. You and Nowë are the only elves left in Middle Earth from those earliest generations and it has been my honor to watch over the both of you.” “Nowë is still here? I thought I must be the only one” she said as tears filled her eyes and one broke free running down her cheek. He gently wiped it away with his thumb and then reached down to take her hand in his. “He is the lord of the Grey Havens and he builds the ships sturdy enough to make the journey to the blessed Undying Lands.” “That is Círdan. The elf whose name you did not recognize” Thranduil said stepping forward to join them. “Why did you not tell me who you were?” she asked confused why he kept his identity a secret. “Faith is strongest when you find it for yourself and you will need your faith to be strong for the dark days that may be coming. I know what you saw Thranduil, but do not let fear into your heart. You are strong and you are a great king. Help will soon come from Valinor in the form of counselors to guide the free peoples of Middle Earth through whatever tribulation may lie ahead.” “Thank you. We are always grateful for any help that may come from Eru or his blessed Ainur” Thranduil said with reverence as he put a hand to his heart and bowed his head.
“Please, can you tell me what happened to my friends. The ones who were taken, and the ones I left behind?” Ranyare asked with such desperation that Taurënur did not hesitate to answer. “They are safe and protected in Aman.” So relieved was she to hear this that she fell to her knees, while still holding his hand, and she laughed with great joy as if a weight as massive as the Misty Mountains themselves had been lifted from her heart. “So many times I wanted to tell you, but that would have given myself away and I was not permitted to do so until you found your faith again.”  “Thank you” she said almost in a whisper as she was still so overcome by the glad tidings. Taurënur helped her to her feet and then extended his other hand to Thranduil and the king stepped forward and took his hand. “Your parents are also together again.” Thranduil was too overwhelmed to say anything but he graciously nodded to the Maia. “I must return home now, but I feel confident that I am leaving you in loving hands.” With another burst of bright light, he turned back into a bird and flew away to the West.

Hey Rays, I hope you’re doing great! For the fanfic asks game, I would like you to answer 👻 and 💥 ones!
By the way, I just wanna say that I absolutely loved the First Date fanfic you posted some days ago. You’re an amazing writer and an essential member of our hitsuhina community, never doubt that! <3
Fanfic Writer Ask Game
Oh, anon!! Thank you so much for your kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed the fic the much!
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
Not sure if this classifies as the 'wildest', but I imagine Toshiro doesn't really like any frozen snacks aside from shaved ice. Even then, he only has it during the summer when he needs to cool down, and otherwise doesn't go out of his way to have it. Most assume he must like frozen yogurt, popsicles, or ice cream due to the element he wields, but he finds both too sweet for his liking. If he's desperate and can't acquire or make shaved ice, he will have peppermint or mochi flavoured ice cream.
💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
Oh no, don't give me that kind of power! XD I'm not sure if it counts, but I would include a scene showing how Toshiro and Momo reconciled. As I have said time and time again, I think this scene is essential and should've been shown. Yes, it's not plot relevant, but my God, was it character relevant for Toshiro in the manga and Momo in Death Save the Strawberry! Even though I firmly believe that reconciled by the time of TYBW arc, a scene depicting this would confirm that it happened, and if not, what's stopping them?
How I would go about changing this is either including a short chapter in Death Save the Strawberry, but more likely, I would love to have a flashback when Toshiro enters the battle again Gerard. Picture it:
We have Toshiro flying to attach Gerard, but to that shot of Momo looking on. She say his name, clearly very worried and concerned, but hopeful, believing in the strength of her friend.
As she watches, she internally voices her worry, and how they had only recently seen each other, how they can't let it end to this.
Cut to panel of Toshiro and and the chapter title, and then, flashback!
We go through a quick montage of Momo in recovering in Fourth Division, showing everyone but Toshiro has come to visit her.
We get a few scenes of Momo and Shinji lifted straight out of Death Save the Strawberry, showing she is on her way to being better and accepting her new captain, but knowing at some point her and Toshiro will need to talk.
From there, you can go a few ways, whether it's Momo finally speaking with Toshiro or vice versa and reconciling, or ending with the two of them seeing each other for the first time since Aizen's defeat.
We cut back to present with Momo running away from the action, trying to get herself and Shinji to safety. The action gets a little too close for comfort, but Toshiro manages to bash Gerard away, protecting Momo.
Momo looks over her shoulder, briefly catching Toshiro's gaze. She's surprised by what she sees in is eyes. She thinks back on the gaze he had when they saw each other for the first time since Aizen's defeat, the guilt and despair they held, has now transformed into determination. It's a look at that says 'we will make it out of this'.
As Toshiro gets back to the fight, Momo continues on, and though worried, her expression also holds confidence in her friend.
This entire exchange is done without words, just letting the images speak for themselves. If you really wanted to, you could have a few bits of internal text to really emphasis what's happened here, like 'You've changed since then...You can do this, Shiro-chan!'
Thanks for sending these in! :D

Fascinating Hat
A/N #1: Here is the second fic (and last original fic) for the Summer Break Challenge of @usernoneexistent
Recommended reading: Stolen Dance | There’s Something About Alice
Tumblr media
Alice was leaning against the window frame, looking at the grey clouds floating above the sea and the Irish countryside. Her daily dose of rain would start soon. Weather in Ireland was boringly predictable: sun, cloudy, rain, sun. But when would that sequence of events happen, there lay the mystery. She heard the sound of the crashing waves as the sea became more active with the approach of the rain.
She was lost in those thoughts when there was a knock on the door. Had he forgotten his key? She went to open it and who she saw surprised her.
“Andre?” she exclaimed, surprised to see her long-time friend standing on her doorstep in the middle of nowhere.
“Oh, thank Merlin, this is your house! I first went to the wrong house, and a man wearing a vest and no shirt opened the door. I nearly had a heart attack.”
Alice smirked. “Don’t see a lot of countryside fashion in New York, do you?” she said, stepping aside to let him in.
“I would not call what I saw fashion,” said Andre as he made his way to the kitchen and sat on a simple wooden chair. “Speaking of fashion,” he added, eyeing her outfit of a simple oversized cardigan worn over a t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
“Andre, I can’t wear designer clothes in a small Irish village; I would stick out like a sore thumb!” exclaimed Alice.
“You could wear them inside the house,” replied Andre.
Alice let out a sigh of exasperation. This reminded her so much of their school days, except that she was now a grown woman who could take care of her own outfits. “Andre, if you came all the way here just to see how I dress in the countryside, you have your answer and can now leave.”
Andre raised his hand in self-defence. “I’m sorry. Old habits die hard, I guess. I just really miss dressing you.”
Alice sat down in front of him, her cheek resting in her hand. “I’ll admit I do miss wearing my fancier clothes.”
“If you miss the fancier lifestyle, why don’t you just come back to New York? You’d be just as safe there as you are over here. You can’t honestly tell me you enjoy spending your time here, in the middle of nowhere,” he said, looking at his humble surroundings.
“While this is not the Ritz, I still have great childhood memories here. I used to come here with my grandmother when I went to live with her after Jacob’s disappearance,” reminisced Alice.
“Come on, even with childhood memories, after having lived in Tokyo, this must feel like a complete change. Unless…”
Alice stared at him, narrowing her eyes.
Andre met her gaze with a smirk. “Unless this reminds you a bit of your time in Romania?”
Alice looked away. “How do you—”
“I still talk to him, you know. He didn’t tell me anything but that Tokyo Tower snowglobe… Let’s just say him trying to hide it quickly confirmed my suspicions.”
Alice looked back at Andre. “So, you saw that snowglobe? Is that how Barnaby…?”
“No, but I think Catherine let it slip. Unlike Malkia and Usagi, she can’t resist his puppy dog eyes.”
“Neither can I…” said Alice, sighing. “Anyway, why are you here exactly?”
“Right! We were so busy reminiscing, I forgot to tell you,” said Andre as he took out an envelope from a pocket inside his jacket. “You are invited to Bill and Fleur’s wedding.”
A tense smile appeared on Alice’s face. “That’s very nice of them, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea. With Voldemort’s followers acting out now that everybody knows he has returned, I don’t want to risk it. I may not be their main target, but I’m not their favourite person either.”
“Oh, come on. I’m not asking you to walk the streets of London. It’s just a wedding at The Burrows. Since Harry Potter will be there, there’s probably going to be dozens of Aurors, including your favourite Metamorphmagus…”
“I don’t know.”
“Fleur really insisted for you to be there. She already sees you as her future sister-in-law,” said Andre, an ever-so-subtle sly smile appearing on his face.
Alice glared at him. “Don’t go there.”
Andre shrugged. “I just meant that Bill sees you as his little sister.”
“Sure you did.”
“Anyway, I might have something to convince you,” he said, taking a paper from his pocket and placing it on the table.
Alice looked down at the paper. “Is that… a sketch?”
“Your wedding outfit!”
“You’ve drawn a sketch before even knowing if I would accept the invitation?”
“I wanted to come prepared.”
Alice chuckled as she pulled the paper toward her. “It’s really great, as always. But I’m not wearing that hat,” she said, pointing at something on the paper.
“It’s not a hat; it’s a fascinator.”
“Fascinating. But I’m still not wearing it. And I’m not even sure I’ll come anyway.”
“You wouldn’t want to disappoint Bill, or any other member of the Weasley family, now, would you?”
“Andre…” warned Alice.
“I meant Molly and Arthur. You haven’t seen them in a while.”
“True,” she said, leaning back in her chair. “But I don’t know. I would have to ask—”
At that moment, there was another knock on the door. Alice went to open it, and when she returned to the kitchen, a tall, handsome man with chestnut hair and green eyes was following her.
“I was so excited to go feed and pet the neighbour’s sheep; I forgot my—” the man was explaining when he saw Andre.
“Hey, Barnaby,” said Andre, waving to his former schoolmate and Alice’s current boyfriend. He couldn’t deny that, standing next to each other, Alice and Barnaby looked like a power couple, even when dressed in countryside outfits. But even if they looked picture-perfect, he knew all too well who was Alice’s perfect match.
“Oh, hey Andre, what are you doing here?” asked Barnaby.
Andre took one of the invitations. “You two have been invited to Bill’s wedding.”
“A wedding! I love weddings!” exclaimed Barnaby.
“But Alice isn’t sure she wants to go,” said Andre, pouting.
Barnaby turned to Alice with sadness in his eyes. “Why not?”
“I don’t know… I’m afraid it might be too risky.”
“Please, Alice, seeing the gang again would be so much fun. And I’ll be there to protect you,” he said, pleading.
She looked into his green eyes. How could she say no to those puppy-dog eyes? She kissed him on the cheek. “Alright, we’ll go.”
Barnaby gave her a big hug before giving her a quick peck on the lips. “Great! Oh, I wonder if my bowtruckle suit still fits me!” he said, running off to the bedroom.
“His bowtruckle suit? Does he mean the one he wore at the Celestial Ball?” asked Andre.
Alice nodded.
“I don’t see how a suit he wore when he was 15 would still fit him.” Andre sighed. “I guess I’ll have to use my magic. After that, I’ll get to do your outfit,” he said with a smile.
“I’m still not wearing that hat,” said Alice as she started to leave the kitchen to help Barnaby find his suit.
“Fascinator!” exclaimed Andre as he followed her.
“Still not wearing it!”

TWST Fanfic "Her Lost Voice": Chapter 14
Inky's Links: AO3: Masterlist: Third Story Decided! (Coming Soon)
Tumblr media
Chapter 14: Wish I Could Be
"Hi Azul...c-can we talk?"
Elise felt every nerve in her body vibrate with anticipation as Azul gently floated down to the sand and when the light made his silvery hair shine as he drew close. She was surprised her tentacles didn't braid themselves together at the sound of his voice.
"What's on your mind, Elise?" Azul's voice seemed a bit heavier than normal but the male octopus retained his usual polished smile. She laughed a bit at the question.
"Oh well, many things. I hope you don't mind?" when Azul silently rested on his tentacles in front of her with a grin, she continued, "Azul, a lot has happened this summer and a lot is still going to happen very soon. And honestly, I'm very...very scared."
The tremor in her voice caused one of Azul's tentacles to gently wrap around hers once again. The only difference was that Azul did it on purpose this time. He didn't speak, only waited and listened patiently for her to explain.
"I appreciate everything you, Jade, and Floyd have done for me," her smile was soft and tentative, "You three aren't nearly as scary or dubious as people make you out to be."
Azul wasn't surprised that their reputations had proceeded them, however, one thing did puzzle him greatly, "You were right there when Jade and Floyd fended off those sharks and you can still say that? To the guy who got you tangled up in his backfired scheme, to begin with?"
Somehow this made her laugh, "Yes, without a doubt. I never want to get on your bad side for sure. But things are different down there than on the surface. Merfolk are more upfront, ready to fight for whatever or whomever they want. To do whatever it takes to get where they want to be. It is a bit terrifying, but I respect that ambition. You're not only intelligent but cunning which can cause some trouble sure," Azul felt a bit embarrassed as she playfully smirked at him," But...it is something I admire about you. You make your own way in life and don't let anyone stop you. So it's not you or them that I'm afraid of, Azul. I...I'm not sure I want to go back to being a human."
A spark of disbelief, and maybe a bit of hope, suddenly lit up in Azul's mind, "Y-You...don't? But why? ...well aside from your horrendous sibling."
Another soft laugh, "Siblings. I have an older brother as well. He's too busy getting ready to take the throne to really pay me any mind though. But that's the problem: he has a purpose. Even Emily. She'll probably marry some prince or lord from another king or queendom to bring more prosperity to ours. And then there's me...I've felt like an outcast every since my mother died. Everyone in my family withdrew from each other since then. And well, you saw how highly Emily thinks of me first hand. But, in spite of all the danger, I felt more wanted, more at home with the Leech Family, with Luna and Cowrie. And you and your family too."
Azul tensed momentarily as Elise unconsciously scooted closer to him. Instead of pointing it out, he merely asked, "The senior internship you had before all of this, what was it and why did you choose it specifically?"
The princess hummed as she confronted the truth of the matter, "I didn't really choose it myself. My brother did. I went along with it because I suppose it was because it reminded me of Mother. Mother always loved the sea and its inhabitants. She advocated for finding a way to continue our export and import trades via our established trade routes but feared that our ships' fuel would only pollute the waters and harm all sea life in the long run. So I was to intern with our fleets to find a better solution...but honestly? I don't think they were going to actually let me do that much being a royal and all. They were more or less just placating me out of obligation to the crown prince."
"I suppose I shouldn't feel too bad about ruining 'your' plans then?" Azul was hiding true guilt behind a bit of sarcastic banter. Elise saw right through it and decided to play along anyway.
"Feel bad? Not at all. You did look kind of cute when I was furiously scolding you, Mr. Ashengrotto. So I feel properly vindicated," she giggled, making him nearly explode on the spot.
"C-Cute?!" his face grew hot as he sputtered, trying to glare right into her amused face, "I am many things, MISS Coralette, but cute??"
"You're right. Handsome suits you more than cute, Azul."
Her words slipped off her tongue faster than Elise could process them. Now it was her turn to be oh so flustered as she slid away from him, "Um I...I mean, yes that is true b-but-"
"But what?"
Azul was suddenly looking her right in her wide eyes with a gaze that was worlds more unwavering than he was moments before. Elise was almost convinced that he had been body snatched while she blinked but no, that was not the case. Azul felt just as nervous and uneasy as he had since he realized his budding feelings for this girl, but now he was feeling something much stronger than all that. Azul felt desperate to know the truth and it only made him weirdly courageous.  He could spin a multitude of reasons as to why Elise Coralette wouldn't desire him just as much as he did her but unlike him, she was far more honest in her words and expression. She let slip a hint of what he wanted to hear from her just now. The moment she realized it herself is when Azul saw her real feelings surface. At least what he hoped were her real, genuine feelings. Her shy, girlish blush. The way her eyes went wide only to dart away from him. This was the same sort of body language and cues she gave off whenever Rielle was brought up to her in the past. Surely it meant what he thought, what he wanted it to mean, yes? YES?
"Elise," he coaxed as gently as possible in his brewing state, "Tell me. Please."
His stormy eyes were the most honest she had ever seen. They were frustrated and pleading as he leaned in. They were alone here. Entirely in their own little world. Knowing that and seeing him this way felt strangely sacred to Elise as she started to close the gap, feeling her whole body give in to its unspoken urges.
"Azul...I think that..."
"Yes?"
The last thread of hesitation snapped as her turquoise eyes locked onto his deep blue steel ones. She took a breath and then a leap of faith before her nerves got the better of her.
"I think that I'm really scared of not seeing you guys all the time...of not waking up and knowing you're right here. I'm scared to become human again because then I'll be away from not only Luna and Cowrie, and the twins, but I won't be able to be with you."
A jolt of adrenaline rushed his system as he took in her words. As eager as he had been seconds before, Azul still felt a part of his mind backhand him with doubt, "When you say 'be with you'...?" He almost looked around as if Elise was talking about someone else. The poor boy was caught between self-doubt and wanting.
She blinked in disbelief before gesturing to him with both hands, "Azul, you are the densest clever person I have ever met. Yes, I mean you specifically! I have feelings for YOU! Do I need to sing it for you?!"
For a split second, Elise was convinced she saw part of Azul's soul leave his body. The boy's eyes froze wide on his otherwise blank face and only his tentacles moved. She half expected one of them to slap him back to the present. Seconds later his soul returned and all his blood rushed to his face, "You...YOOOOU have feelings for ME? Wait what happened to your dream prince Rielle?!"
He suddenly regretted his outburst once he saw the scowl on her face, "Ehem, ok 'dream prince' might be a bit much. Forget I said anything."
Elise crossed her arms as the scowl softened, "I know...I had a ridiculous and obviously one-sided to everyone but me crush on him for the longest time. I thought it was 'love' but...it was just bloated infatuation and wishful thinking. If I didn't feel this time was more  genuine I wouldn't have said anything."
Azul suddenly felt like his mother was getting ready to appear and whack the ink right out of him with an arsenal of her toughest spoons, "I-If we're being honest, then...you're right, I am pretty dense. I didn't realize I had feelings for you until this summer even though I've been attracted to you since that day you waltzed into my office and struck a deal with me on your own terms."
Elise's tentacles curled in on themselves as she felt a rush of giddiness, "Really?"
He laughed, "I mean you are beautiful. I always thought so but you had such confidence and wit about you that day. I was so accustomed to having the upper hand and you caught me off guard and charmed me and everyone else around you so easily. It was astounding. How could I not be both impressed and taken with you?"
The princess looked him up and down with all sorts of questions in her gaze, "Is it really so surprising that maybe I see you in a similar light?"
"Oh absolutely," he deadpanned. As happy as he felt, the boy still couldn't comprehend the reality right in front of his face. No matter how far he had come, there was still part of him stuck in the overwhelming shadow of his past.
A sweet smile spread across her face as she tucked a wild strand of hair behind her own ear. Uh oh...that look only meant trouble for him. "Azul, you really have no idea how attractive you are both physically and mentally, do you?"
She scooted closer to him, closing the gap once again but even further this time to the point that her lips were just a whisper away from his. Her eyes held the baffled boy to the spot with how they sparkled. "It's ok that you don't realize it yet," she spoke so softly, "It's part of your charm. But know this, I've been in the company of many, many handsome and witty boys. Please forgive me for realizing only recently that none of them hold a candle to you, Azul Ashengrotto. That is the honest truth."
Stardust was the only tangible thing in existence Azul could equate to how he was currently feeling. He hung on every sweet syllable that left her lips until he finally voiced the feeling that had haunted him for weeks, "I don't want you to go."
Before he could even blink, Elise's soft lips collided with his as her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him into her embrace. His arms encircled her waist as Azul leaned into the kiss without a second thought. For the first time, his stubborn legs didn't have to propel him whatsoever. They just relaxed as the two of them melted into each other.
...and what started as a tender moment quickly turned into panic.
A spark formed on Elise's neck before blooming into a burst of light. In seconds, her tentacles melted away into two human legs, her skin became much lighter, and her eyes dulled and widened with terror. Azul's whole body tensed at the sight of the human girl floating in front of him and couldn't move until a flurry of air bubbles rushed out of her mouth. The octopus quickly braced her into him and swam as fast as he could while yelling for help. In seconds, he and Elise were caught by teal and monochrome blurs that quickly took them back to the landing.
The room echoed with Elise's rough coughing and ragged, desperate gasps for air as Luna and Floyd lifted her from the water. Azul clung to the side, still mostly emersed in the water, staring in shock at the drenched princess. The dress she had worn before lost its vibrant color just like the rest of her.
"Elise, breathe. Keep breathing," Luna carefully steadied her friend as Floyd left to find Jade.
Once she settled, Elise slowly sat up and stared at Azul before looking down at herself, "W-What..."
Everything grew hazy as crystal clear tears formed in her eyes. Any voices speaking to her fell on deaf ears as she began to sob. The twins returned with towels immediately. Luna grabbed one and started to dry Elise off. All Azul could do was watch her cry as his heart sank. Her mouth opened to say his name but it was interrupted with another sob as the boy launched himself out of the water just enough to hold her and whisper over and over again to both of them.
"It's alright. You're alright...it's going to be alright."
~
Azul's office door slammed shut and locked behind him. Jade, Floyd, and Luna were left to speculate on their own in the empty Lounge. Inside the office, Azul laid Elise down on one of the sofas. Neither one of them said a word the entire time Azul had rushed her down the hallway, carrying her in his arms as if she were light as a feather. She sat sniffling as he paced about the room. He wordlessly stepped into a side bathroom and the sound of running water could be heard. She swallowed down a fresh wave of tears and called out to him in a weary voice, "Azul..."
When he didn't answer, Elise began to worry. Doubt began to pelt her like a sudden hail storm. Now that she was human...did Azul's feelings change? Was everything different now? Too different??
"Azul," she began to sob again. Hearing her cries the boy rushed to her side and held her face. He looked so worn and so scared.
"Are you in pain? What is it?" he asked nervously. Elise just shook her head. Ironic that now her voice was working properly all on its own now and yet here she was...absolutely speechless. Azul felt like he was going to fall apart any second now as he stood back up.
"I'll have a warm bath ready for you in just a moment," he couldn't look directly at her, "I don't want you to catch a cold. After that...you...you can sleep in my room. I'll stay in here-"
Azul felt a sudden tug on his sleeve and saw the desperation in the princess' face. More tears rolled down her cheeks as she silently begged him. She wanted him to stay. She was even more terrified now, "P-Please, Azul. Can you...can you please stay with me? I'm sorry if I repulse you now-"
Everything clicked all too fast and he was overwhelmed, desperate to change her mind and to put an end to these thoughts. Azul sat next to her and hid his ashamed face in her damp hair, "Stop it. You don't repulse me. You could never! That's not why I'm acting like this! Everything just happened so suddenly...I-I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. Please know that I meant everything I said before. Please just give me a moment..."
~
Several long minutes later, Azul left Elise to bathe in peace and recover. He promised that he would be back very soon, that he just needed to fill the others in. When he stormed back out into the Lounge, his anger was palpable. Jade rose from his seat and began to approach his old friend, "Azul-"
"Fine," his voice was rigid, his eyes avoided looking at any of the eels, "Everything is just fine. Elise is human again. Just as she should be....no additional steps needed."
The twins shared a worried look as Azul began to laugh dryly to himself. It sounded awfully familiar and bitter. So familiar they feared he might Overblot all over again. The look in his eyes was barely sane.
"She loves me. She wanted to stay with me, with us, under the waves as a mermaid. A perfect happily ever after! We even kissed and that triggered her reverting back into a human princess!" he laughed wildly, "True Love's Kiss isn't a load of shit after all! Isn't that wonderful?!"
"Hey Azul," Floyd muttered anxiously, "It's not all that bad, right?"
Azul's tone snapped straight into anger so quickly the twins thought the glass tanks would shatter, "Not all that bad, Floyd?! Oh no NO! Of course not! You and Jade found your mates, won the day, and now can be with them without any obstacles awaiting you but me? The slimy, scheming octopus that fucked all this up from the start? Seven forbid I find the perfect woman and have her return my pathetic affections! Our first kiss literally damned her right back to the shore!"
His voice was raw as his hands shook. Luna could only imagine how upset Elise was. Jade and Floyd stepped forward to try and calm the dorm leader down once again.
"Azul...calm yourself. How are you supposed to make a proper strategy with your head full of so many pitfalls?" Jade placed a firm hand on his friend's shoulder.
"Yeah Azul, take it easy. Octi-chan loves you. Isn't that the most important part??" Floyd drawled as he casually put his hands behind his head, "You wanted to get one up on Rielle remember?"
Azul's bitter mood halted on his dumbfounded face as the twins gave him matching smug grins. He immediately straightened himself up, trying to reform even a shred of the dignity he hurled out the window just now.
"Of course I did," he huffed, "Just not...exactly...like this but..."
"Azul-kun," Luna's melodic tone rang across the lounge from where she stayed seated, "I imagine Elise is just as upset if not more so than you. She needs you now more than ever."
The look in the siren's eyes was genuine kindness. Azul felt it warm his core underneath the surface. She was absolutely right. He needed to get ahold of himself before anything else could be done. He sighed, suddenly feeling embarrassed at his dramatic outburst.
"Forgive me," he pushed his glasses up and cleared his throat, "I must look like such a fool right now."
"Eh, a little bit. Reminds me when we were kids and we had to keep pulling you out of your octopus pot," Floyd started to chuckle along with Jade before Luna appeared between them and smacked both of their arms with a pointed look. The siren hushed the brothers and approached Azul with a smile.
"Azul-kun, your frustrations are very understandable. This whole ordeal would be unbearable for a far lesser man," she gave him a supportive nuzzle against his cheek, making her mate pout, but she ignored it, "You and Elise need to rest. It's late now. I trust her in your care."
The siren sauntered back over to Floyd and gave him a tender kiss, "We all need to rest. Let's leave the next steps for tomorrow, hmm?"

The twins returned to their room and Luna to the grotto for the night. When Azul returned to his office, he found Elise clean, dry, and wearing an extra set of his pajamas as she curiously stared at the books lining the walls. She paused and placed a hand on top of the wooden box that held the enchanted dagger. Her hair was straighter, more of a dark raven color like before. Her tired eyes had faded back into their human shade of minty green. Her body language alone was enough to tell him that she felt frailer now. Azul closed the door behind him and wordlessly went up to her like a moth to a flame. She gasped as he suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her from behind as he rested his head against hers.
"I'm so sorry," he barely managed to whisper, "I'm so sorry about all of this."
He felt her cold delicate hands touch his and her head gently lean into his. Elise barely moved at all and yet he felt like she was the only thing holding him up right now.
"Don't be..."
By some miracle, the rest of Octavinelle remained undisturbed by the night's sudden events. Inside Azul's bedroom, Elise was snuggly wrapped in his arms as the two of them rested quietly under his blankets. Any other time, he would have felt it inappropriate to have her in his room let alone his bed but after that night, Azul couldn't stand not having her close by. For a while, neither one of them spoke. There wasn't a sound aside from their breath. Not any light aside from the soft aquatic glow from the water surrounding the dormitory itself.
"What happens now?" Elise's quiet voice finally asked, muffled against Azul's chest.
His entire body and mind ached with heavy exhaustion as he weighed his answer carefully, "I'll find a way for you to come back home with us permanently. I don't know exactly how long it will take but I will make it happen. I promise. And..if you so desire...eventually we could...uh...well, we can talk about the far future another time." 'Become mates' is what he wanted to say but somehow it felt like too much of a request to make right then and there. He wanted it to become reality but for now, he just wanted to put her at ease as much as he could.
He felt her shift in the darkness to look him in the eyes directly, "Thank you, Azul."
Azul melted as he felt Elise press her lips to his again. He swore they continued to kiss again and again in the dark until they both fell asleep in each other's arms.
~
The next morning was an immense challenge. When word got out that the Mostro Lounge wouldn't be opening that evening, the entire campus knew something was amiss in Octavinelle. With that said, no one had the guts to ask questions to the towering twin eels or the very exhausted and distracted dorm prefect. No one except a certain redhead.
"Azul...are you alright?"
From the other side of the alchemy cauldron, Riddle watched Azul vacantly stir the pot on repeat like a broken record player. Judging from their last conversation and the octopus' current state, something absolutely devastating must have happened to Azul. And Riddle wasn't too far off.
"...and now she's human again," Azul muttered quietly, still stirring.
Riddle stood frozen, processing everything he just heard, "Oooo...kay wow. That is a lot."
Yes, Azul had told him everything. Everything. Normally Riddle would have flipped his crown over the fact that a fellow dorm leader had been hiding female students in his dormitory but given the circumstances of the very, very complicated situation...Riddle made the rare choice to ignore Azul's blatant disregard of the rules. Plus this did also explain why Floyd was barely paying attention to him lately and who was he to complain?
Riddle did a quick check over his shoulder to make sure the professor wasn't too close by before whispering, "So you need a spell or potion to turn her back into a mermaid permanently. Have you ever made one  before?"
Azul sighed heavily before stirring in the next ingredient Riddle had poured in, "Unfortunately even with my thorough studies and experimentation, I have yet to succeed in making the change permanent without some sort of definitive catalyst. Like a stupid kiss."
He had to fight to not roll his eyes at the concept of 'True Love's Kiss' yet again. If he didn't hate it before, he absolutely despised it now! When his grandmother suggested it as a possible antidote to Elise's situation, it sounded like some sugarcoated placation. His face suddenly warmed itself as he remembered their first kiss. Then the second...and the third...and the fourth with her soft form pressed into his under the blankets that still smelled like her-
"You kissed her several times didn't you?" Riddle asked with a very straight face. Azul nearly flung the giant spoon across the room in shock. Before Azul could even string two syllables together, Riddle explained with a somewhat bashful expression of his own, "I remember what it was like the first...couple of times," he cleared his throat and quickly jotted down some notes.
"...Didn't that happen inside the Mostro Lounge?"
Riddle's face turned pink, "I thought we were alone and the moment was too good to end right away, ok!?"
A sudden whipcrack and yell from Professor Crewel made the two boys jump and duck back into their assignment with laser focus.
~
Elise quietly stared at her reflection in the water as she dipped her feet into it from the Octavinelle landing just on the other side of the Mostro Lounge. They remained unchanged, pale, and human. It was growing late in the day, Azul had told her that he wanted to look into some additional sources in the library before coming back. She began to smile when she saw a familiar black and white shape zip towards her underneath the water's surface. Only when she realized that there were two of them did her breath catch in her throat. Both Cerith sisters' heads poked out of the water as they swam up to her.
"Cowrie!" Elise tried to keep quiet just in case anyone but the twins were outside the door, "What are you doing here?"
The younger sister laid her head affectionately against the princess' legs, "Luna told me everything."
Luna pulled herself out of the water to sit next to Elise as she changed into her human form, "Knowing my sister, I knew she'd want to be here too."
Elise let out a heavy sigh as her eyes grew watery, "Thank you both..."
"I know you probably feel really out of sorts right now buuuut," Cowrie poked the princess' cheek teasingly with the tip of her tail, "You and Azuzuuuu? Ooooooo!! It's about damn time!"
Luna chuckled but still hushed her sister to be quiet. Elise's face bloomed into a glowy shade of pink as she shyly laughed and batted the tail away, "Cowrie stoooop..."
"Is he a good kisser?" Cowrie grinned mischievously up at Elise and Luna gave the poor girl a similar look.
The princess didn't bother trying to play coy and just laughed and rubbed any imposing tears from her eyes, "I love his kisses...I'm going to miss them for a while."
A fresh wave of tears suddenly spilled over as Cowrie and Luna frowned, "What are you talking about, Ellie??"
Elise had made her decision early that morning. She had woken up before Azul and enjoyed the sight of his peaceful resting face. Before she could enjoy it too much, however, she heard her phone buzzing on the nightstand. It was her brother calling.
Thankfully no one else was awake either and she quietly made her way down the hall into a solitary washroom before locking herself inside and answering the phone. Her brother was almost eleven years her senior and rarely took the time to speak with her or Emily. Especially not about anything casual. So when he jumped straight into his reason for calling, she wasn't surprised.
"Big Brother, hello-"
"Elise. I trust you are well," his voice was that of a man on a schedule, "I'm calling on behalf of Emily since you two seemed to have a tiff recently."
Elise rolled her eyes on the other side of the phone. Of course, her sister would wrap the truth up in a polite little bow and label it a 'tiff', "That's one way of putting it, yes. What does she want?"
"You two have never seen eye to eye on much of anything since we lost Mother but we're hoping you can set that aside and attend her wedding. You are still family after all."
A wedding? Already? "Emily is ENGAGED? She didn't mention any suitors the last time we saw each other." Suddenly she was even more furious at her sister for trying to sweeten up Azul right in front of her face!
"I don't see how that matters," the prince said curtly, "Father will be stepping down soon and I want to make sure everything and everyone is taken care of before my coronation. Emily happily accepted the suitor I proposed for her and that ensures another ally for our homeland."
The rest of the information was frivolous compared to what halted Elise at once, "Is Father alright? I thought he was going to wait-"
"Elise, I don't have the time to fill you in on our family's affairs. Especially when you've wasted your time running off to who knows where and disregarded the internship I arranged just for you. Do you have any idea how this will reflect back on me when I have to explain things to your school's administration?"
The princess felt her temper flare and burst all at once. She had had enough. Elise was nineteen years old and legally didn't have to answer to anyone but herself anymore and she'd be damned if she kept quiet any longer!
"You wouldn't have to fill me in after the fact had you kept me in the loop in the first place!" she quietly hissed, "Speaking of which! Did you even stop to think as to why I never showed up for my internship? Or did Emily omit that part? Oh let me guess! Something about me running off with my little slimy creepy eel pets? Just throwing all responsibility right out the window to splash around in the ocean all summer hmm? Well, you know what...believe what you want. I don't care anymore! I'll go to her stupid wedding. I'll say my peace to our father, MY father, and then after that? I'll find my own way in the world without the crown or your help! You can forget you ever had an embarrassment of a baby sister!"
....her brother didn't bother calling back after she hung up on him. No messages. No calls from her sister or father. Nothing. That was that. Elise would give up the royal family name and find a new purpose for herself while Azul did his best to bring her home. To their home.
Luna and Cowrie stared wide-eyed at their best friend as she told them the whole story, both of them absolutely speechless. Elise just sniffled and laughed bitterly.
"There's no point in me staying here now that I'm human again," she rubbed her eyes and continued with conviction, "I won't be gone forever. I just need to go home and set things right. For sure this time. After that, well...there's no way I can graduate on time and get my mage license without some sort of additional study. I'll focus on that while Azul does his best over here. And you guys..."
A lump formed in her throat as she looked at her two beloved eel sisters, knowing everything they had been through their entire lives and just this summer alone. Fresh tears wet her mint green eyes, "You're safe now. You'll both be safe and happy with Jade and Floyd and the Leeches. We'll see each other again, sooner or later. And then we won't ever have to say goodbye again."
Luna wrapped her arms around Elise's shoulders as Cowrie jumped out of the water to hug Elise on the other side.
"Does Azul know?"
~
He did.
Not every detail but enough to seek help from the library...he just didn't actually say which one.
Madam Lorelei was expecting him any minute now at her usual table at the Leviathan Club. When he entered and rushed past the staff to the second level, both his mother and grandmother were there waiting for him.
"My darling boy," the grandmother said with gentle understanding in her eyes, "Come, sit."
Azul greeted his mother with a hug and kiss on her cheek, not bothering to hide the frustration in his eyes. These powerful women raised him and were far too clever to not notice it on their own. Azul had called and explained most of the situation beforehand but seeing him in person filled in all other gaps.
"So...it would seem she found her prince after all, precious," Madam Lorelei's tentacle lifted the teacup to her red lips.
"It would seem so," his mouth was tight and his voice bitter, "Had I known that pursuing something like this would take her further away from me..."
"Azul," his mother huffed, "Dear Elise returned your feelings. Complications aside, it's a wonderful thing, sweetness!"
"Your mother is right, my boy. I may have had my doubts before but...well, your mother's friend, Madam Leech, had quite a lot of praise for her and her boldness. Besides, this may be a good time for the princess to return to the surface for a time," Lorelei's voice was cryptic as she stared out the windows, "There's a storm brewing across the borders. The further away she is from it, the better."
"What do you mean, grandmother?" Azul asked tentatively. It was no mystery that the two families controlling the city had tensions running high but the waters felt denser than before he left. The worried look on his mother's face spoke volumes as she lowered her voice.
"You boys got those poor Cerith girls out of here just in time. Things have been getting worse between the two houses. Ventuno Muraeni was killed on Leech property just the other day. I haven't seen Indigo Cerith since he came by to tell me you had left for school...I hope he's alright."
Azul had a bad feeling in his gut. He had known the Leech family since childhood. He grew up with this ongoing feud happening right outside his family's door for years. An upset or an event here or there was fairly normal. As long as he or anyone else not involved kept their noses out of it, they were guaranteed safety. But now that the lines had been crossed and blurred between the two families...were any of them safe from becoming collateral damage?
"The dagger I gave her, does she still have it, Azul?" Lorelei suddenly asked.
"I have it. It's safe at my dorm. She has no need for it now so I can return it-"
"Don't be so sure, darling," Lorelei cut him off with a wagging finger, "Before this was a favor for my dear grandson's friend. Now it's personal. I'd rather my future granddaughter-in-law keep it close for the time being. Just in case. She may not need it for any magical purpose but a weapon is still a weapon," she took another sip before giving both her daughter and grandson a sharp look, "Don Leech nor his predecessors have given me any reason to distrust their clan. However, I can't say the same for Don Muraeni and his abyssal scum. We'd all be wise to watch our backs no matter where we are."
Madam Lorelei stood up gracefully from the table as she wordlessly slid a piece of parchment over to Azul before giving one last warning, "Return to school, for now, my dear. I will see what I can do on my end but for now, you were never here and this conversation never happened."
Azul knew how this world of theirs worked, "Of course, grandmother. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule."
Once Azul stepped into the empty Mirror Chamber, only then did he read the parchment Madam Lorelei had given him. His eyes narrowed and filled with more questions than he could count.
Watch out for Proteus, Don Muraeni's eyes and ears.

Junpei Yoshino x reader

(PS. I wanna continue this one a bit. Expect another part)
(PPS. This an AU in which Junpei never ever gets involved with Jujutsu sorcerers. I’m just so sad, okay-)
Tumblr media
———————————————————————
I was never one to draw attention to myself. I didn‘t like people looking at me in the streets when we passed eachother. I didn’t like people looking at me when I answered questions in class. I hated doing presentations or working with people I didn’t know.
I hated it when my Math teacher picked on me because she knew I didn’t know the answer, even if in her head, she only wanted to encourage me to speak up. In short, I just didn’t like attention.
And that directly tied into me not really looking for confrontations. I am a very fair person; I hate bullies just as much as any other person who isn‘t a moral asshole. However, when it really comes down to it and there is a guy infront of me, directly spitting accusations and insults in my face, I am not as witty as I would like to be. The words get stuck in my throat and my thoughts speed up to an degree where I can’t follow them anymore. I look away, my shoulders come up a little.
I’m coward, I hate to say it. It‘s easier to just duck under and let the Desaster roll over you.
Then try not to hate yourself afterwards for not acting differently. Honestly, that’s the hardest part. Not adding oil to fire.
But every person has their limits. Every single one, there is no denying it. And, to my surprise, I reached mine when I witnessed someone else get bullied. Actually, that isn’t quite right. Abused would be a better word. Someone else might have said that there was no reason to get involved. They couldn’t be more wrong. In that moment, I didn’t think that, of course. My head had been empty, actually. But now I can say, that if hadn’t done what I did, I would have never forgiven myself. The guilt would have eaten me alive. Interfering was the best choice I had made in my entire school-life. I don’t regret it one bit.
The boy‘s name was Junpei Yoshino - a thin, pale kid who had an emo haircut that covered his right eye. Dark hair and green eyes. He didn’t stand out, just like me. But he had his friendgroup; I think maybe one or two other guys. I had one friend, Yuuki, who was a bit of a loner herself. She wasn’t weird - at least to me - she just did her thing. Which is why I felt incredibly lucky to have her to turn to. As a foreigner, there weren’t many kids who wanted to have anything to do with me.
Fine, my Japanese wasn’t the best, but was not silent. I guess everyone just had their reservations. Maybe some were just shy, who knows. Yuuki kind of took me under her wing after the first week at this school - she saw me trying to avoid the lunchbreak by finding a spot by the fence at the back of the school; the spot where usually, there was no one there. We’ve been friends ever since.
I was in the same class as Junpei - he sat a few desks to my right, two rows infront of me.
Junpei never really spoke up in class, rather just looking at the headboard and taking notes or just staring off into space. I can count on one hand the amount of times I‘ve witnessed him answer a question in class. I always thought that, if you get to know him, he was probably much more vocal. He seemed like a person I would want to be friends with. But I had no clue as to how to approach someone. How was I supposed to go up and just initiate a conversation, let alone a friendship? And my position as the outsider/foreigner didn’t exactly help my reputation - for all I knew he didn’t want to have anything to do with me, just like most of the other students.
So I remained as a simple Observer.
And then came the day in Summer where I happened to be in the right place at the right time.
I was on my way to leave the schoolgrounds and go home - my Father texted me, saying that he could come and pick me up. I heard them before I saw them. It was the same boys that would bully me, though not as extremely as Junpei. I think one of them was named Shota. I never realized… There was a girl with them, one with long, brown hair and a mean, typical bitch-face. I’ve seen her in the hallways; she’s a year above me and always hangs out with those Bastards. I didn’t like her. For a moment, I was just standing there, mid-walk and couldn’t decide whether or not I should check on what they were doing. I mean, I had a fairly good idea. And then I caught a glimpse of an emo haircut.
Junpei was sitting on the ground, backed up against the fence. The blonde one kicked him. Laughing; mean, ugly laughing rang in my ears. My face flushed. Junpei coughed and a camera flashed.
And all of a sudden, I got angry. Angrier than I had gotten at any comment those boys had ever thrown at me, every judgemental look I received in the hallways. Yes, I hated that nobody wanted to talk to me because I wasn’t Japanese, or even „cool“ for that matter. But I could live with that because it wasn’t anything new to me. At home, I had two close friends. I’m not what you would call popular. I could handle some teenage boys being annoying to me. I could brush it off. However…now I was livid.
Before I knew what I was even trying to accomplish, I strode over, yanked the girl to the side and kicked as quickly and as hard as I could. I don’t know if it was at all strong enough, but I hit that asshole right in the nuts. „Oomp-„ he toppled over, stumbling, but not falling. They turned, eyes wide. „What the fuck?!“ And then it got ugly.
The girl began screeching and two of the boys turned to me. „YOU BITCH!“ A hand grabbed my hair, yanking me backwards hard and throwing me off balance. The stinging pain only fueled me - fine, so we were doing this. It was to my luck that she didn’t let go when I turned around; it left her wide open and I flung myself at her, taking her down and pinning her. Behind me, I couldn’t tell who was getting hurt, but they were definitely fighting.
„YOU DAMN IDIOTS GET THE HOE OFF ME!“ She scratched and clawed at my face, her nails ripping some of my skin dangerously close to my eyes. It hurt like hell. I grabbed her wrist and twisted it as hard as I could. Just as she screeched again, a boy grabbed me from behind, pulling me off of her, arms beneath my armpits so I couldn’t escape. I kicked and writhed, fuming and scared - what would happen if the principal saw me? Sent back home? Leave, just like this?
The boys breath was in my ears, heavy and stinking of cigarettes and junkfood. My skin crawled.
The girl, her hair now messed up and her uniform dusty, kicking me right in the stomach with an ugly, evil smile. I couldn’t help the gasps and groans. My eyes began to fill with tears; not from fear of her, but from the anger and pain. And the worry of the consequences. That fucking bitch…
„What?! Not so brave now, are you, you bitch?!“ Another kick. My head hurt. My vision began to get foggy, then became much too clear and bright, alternating. The only thing left for me to do was to scream. So I did, as hard and as loud as I could. It tore my throat up like glass shards.
A punch to my Adam’s apple shut me right up. I swore something popped in there. She crouched down to say something snarky, and I could hear a mixture of laughing, cameras and punches.
I tasted blood and snot in my mouth. I felt hot, and my heart pounded in my temples. I gathered saliva in my mouth and spat in her face. She turned red, eyes wild with furry. And then, thank god, someone came. Eventhough it didn’t stop her from punching me and breaking my nose. I almost passed out. But finally, finally someone came.
„HEY, THATS ENOUGH! STOP THIS; I‘M CALLING THE POLICE!“ It was the principal, being towed by Yuuki, who was running at us. Her usually relaxed and somewhat bored brown eyes were wide open and her nostrils flared. I’d never seen her like this. „Get, she pushed the girl, hard, off her - and you, she turned to the guy who had me locked in place, let. her. go.“ Spit flew from between Yuuki’s clenched teeth and I thought I saw her tremble a bit. But my head was all over the place; I couldn’t think straight. It hurt so badly with every heartbeat, like someone was playing the drums on my skull. „Fucking Coward-„ Yuuki reached out, grabbed me and pulled me up to my feet with a yank. Thin as she was, I was surprised at her strength. And once again, thankful.
I can‘t describe - accurately at least - how happy I was to see Yuuki here, pissed off at these pieces of shit.
The sudden move made me dizzy and nauseous. I fell to my knees and vomited right then and there. „(Y/n), are you okay? What did they do?“ Yuuki crouched next to me, rubbing and patting my back. My throat and nose burned with the stomach acid. I wiped my eyes and spit out once more. „Kicked my stomach…that whore here…“ I pointed at somewhere behind me, too exhausted to get properly angry. And suddenly, I remembered why this happened in the first place. I sat straight up, ignoring my body protesting. „Junpei! Is he here?! They beat him up, he needs-„ My eyes found him in the exact same spot, standing this time, holding his side.
There was a nasty blue bruise on his cheek and his nose was bleeding. But he looked right at me, eyes wide and teary; he looked like he had seen a ghost. Before anything could be said though, the principal began to thunder a lecture and all of our attention was turned to him or ourselves.
***
I didn‘t go to school for the next three days.
Orders of the principal and my hostparents. At first, I wasn’t too upset about it; I didn’t really feel like going, as one could probably imagine. But then I thought about how this made me, the foreigner, look: an angry, out of control girl who gets into fights, probably on racist grounds.
And then she doesn’t show up for almost a week. If not before, everyone certainly wouldn’t want anything to do with me now. The stereotypes that they believed of me just got proven or reinforced because of what I had done. Suddenly, I wished I could go to school, even if just to show that I wasn’t scared or hiding from everyone. I was so frustrated. It‘s ridiculous how quickly you can ruin any image you might‘ve had in just five minutes.
My Hostparents were really angry.
‚What were you thinking, getting into a fight?!‘
‚Do you know what this does to your reputation? You could get sent back for this, (Y/n)!‘
I let them vent, because they obviously were in the right, however, at some point I couldn‘t help myself and began to cry because of how guilty I felt. Disappointing them was the last thing I wanted to do. I apologized, over and over, told them about Junpei and how those kids had bullied him, and to a lesser extent me, for months on end. They softened up a bit after that; they were still mad, but they still made me have dinner with them and then apologized themselves for making me feel at fault.
‚(Y/n), my mother said, you were right to help this boy; but being reckless and not thinking when it matters most isn‘t something to be praised.‘ That was basically as good as a grand jury saying I was off the hook. And when my father gave me a neckchop, smirking at me sideways and then telling a story of his own fight back in his schooldays, I almost forgot about what everyone would think of me in school. Japanese parents are (generally) much tougher than western parents. So having them forgive me felt like an honor. My heart grew lighter and my shoulders lifted for the rest of the night.
Yuuki came by once after school, telling my parents it was for homework - that wasn‘t a lie, but it was more than obvious that she was there for another reason. So I told my parents I‘d bring the trash out so I could accompany Yuuki back to the bus. It was friday, and really nice outside; big, beautiful clouds drifted across a rich blue sky. You could clearly see the many different shades, giving them the appearance of an acrylic painting. There was a breeze that smelled of the river and citylife; cold cigarette smoke, gasoline, flowers from the gardens, the occasional meal that was being cooked with opened windows… It was a good day to feel happy and contend.
However, as I walked Yuuki down the street to the bus stop, my heart dropped into my stomach, sitting there like a stone. „Gossip is at an all-time high, (Y/n). It‘s all over Instagram, y‘know? Everyone is talking about you…“ She spoke half Japanese, half English with me; English for slang like ‚Y’know?‘, the rest Japanese. Unless I asked her to repeat herself so many times she got tired of me and just translated it if she could. „But not everyone is against you; heard Junpei‘s friends say they think that you have twice the balls that they do.“ Yuuki grinned at me. It was difficult to smile back.
My eyes found a tree to my left. It was tall and cast a comforting, glowing green shadow above me as I walked beneath it. I remembered how much I liked to sit beneath the Oaktree back home whenever there was light rain. How it kind of hid you away from everything and everyone; nothing gives the same type of safety as an Oaktree sheltering you from rain. I continued walking.
„Well, that‘s sweet, but it doesn‘t make this better… Has Junpei been to School?“ Yuuki kicked a pebble, hands dug deep into the pockets of her black shirt-dress. „Yeah, came back yesterday; actually - she turned, looking at me with a meaningful glint in her eyes - he asked about you; came up to me all shy and hesitant and wanted to know if I knew anything about your well-being - my man said „Well-being“, (Y/n). He‘s like, so oldfashioned.“ I couldn‘t help but snort.
„Come on; ain’t nothing wrong with liking movies, Yuuki! Besides, Well-being is a normal thing to say.“ She scrunched her nose, cocking her head to the side and standing still for a moment.
„Is it? Is it normal to say that nowadays? How many kids ask you about your ‚Well-being‘ me lady?“ She tipped me an imaginary hat. Then she grew serious. „But (Y/n), for real, I don‘t know what anyone‘s said to you - but what you did was good. Real good. Not a single person in this damned school has even half the courage you have.“ Yuuki shifted from one foot to another. We approached the bus stop slowly, walking along the side of the street. A passing car made the ends of her dress drift a bit in the wind. „Standing up for Junpei was the coolest thing I have ever seen anyone do in this place. I hope you don‘t forget that; you‘re cool as fuck.“
It might‘ve been the fact that the lasting pain in my throat and stomach irritated me all day and made me sleep less. I might have been just a bit more tired than usual and the anxiety got to me. Tears clogged up my throat, which only made it hurt more; it wasn‘t intense anyore, just pretty sore. „Ey, don’t cry now.“ She opened her arms and pulled me against her. I nodded. Yuuki was slender and even a bit fragile against me and smelled like she had just showered earlier. It was obvious to me then, as she hugged me, that she would forever be the cooler one of us.
***
The shocker came when I arrived at school on Monday and everyone would not stop looking at me and whispering as I walked to and from classes. I knew it would be coming, but nothing could’ve prepared me. ‚Come on, I thought to myself continuously, only eight hours you can do this.‘ ‚Only five hours, you can do this.‘ The reason I really did do it is because Yuuki stuck to me for the entire day. She waited for me at the gate and she walked with me to classes. In PE she teamed up with me like usually, and when nobody picked me for Volleyball, she said that the both of us had cramps and couldn‘t play anyway.
Mr. Yagami, our PE-teacher didn‘t think much of it. But he had to have known. Everyone did. Either way, I was grateful he didn’t force me to play, and had us run laps instead. We gently jogged, obviously.
„You know you don‘t have to stick with me, right?“ I was slightly out of breath. Yuuki not so much. „Ha- what- ha, do you mean?“ We turned the corner. „Sticking with me. Have your reputation ruined.“ The words fell solemnly out of my mouth. I hated to admit it, but not even seven hours had passed since I entered school and I already wanted to hide and never look at any of these kids ever again. The thought that Yuuki might get the same idea and just leave me all alone terrified me. Yuuki was my only friend. She puffed next to me, slowing to a walk, her hands on her hips. „Bullshit, bitch, she huffed, trying to catch her breath, I got no, hah, reputation except, hah, being weird- we cool!“ She looked at me like I was a freak. „Why are you so fit?!“ For the first time that day, I genuinely laughed. „How aren‘t you? We basically walked quickly…“ „Shut…up.“
Junpei was there too, but he never came up to me. Which was fine by me, I suppose… What was there to say after that? Occasionally I would catch him glancing at me or vice versa, but that was all. I tried not to think about it too much; he was shy, like me, and we were watched by everyone at like every minute - it really did feel like I had somobody‘s eyes on me all the time. By the time the final bell was about to ring, I was just about ready to sprint out of the school.
‚Be there in ten, okay? Maybe have Yuuki wait with you…‘ I smiled tiredly; it still relieved me to know that my host-parents weren‘t disappointed in me. And having them react to it so genuinely made me feel even better. Despite everything, I knew that eventually, this would pass. Of course, right then, as I tried to ignore all the heads turning or the fingers being pointed at Yuuki and I as we waited for my Dad to come, it was hard to believe that. But I had the hope that in some time, kids would get bored of talking about it, seeing as nothing else would come from my side.
Hopefully those boys and that one girl, who‘s name apparently was Yuri, would leave me alone too; my parents have talked to the police, and the whole thing about a charge was still in the making. But I knew for a fact that their parents were contacted, so I hoped that the prospect of a charge would keep them away from me.
I was currently trying my best to listen to whatever Yuuki was talking about, when someone approached us from behind. Fearing the worst, I turned around, only to see Junpei standing there, all nervous and fidgety. He made eyecontact, but looked away quickly, his brows furrowed together. He looked very much uneasy. Yuuki stopped talking.
„Hey.“ I said, lamely. „O-oh, uh, hey.“ There was a short pause. „Hey!“ Yuuki jumped in, looking at the both of us in a slightly mocking manner. „You guys talk this out, I’mma wait for you at the gate, okay (Y/n)?“ I gave her nod, adjusting my backpack. „Yeah, thanks Yuuki - see ya.“ As she walked off, I turned fully to Yunpei. „Um, you wanna go behind those bushes to talk? I don’t like how everyone just keeps staring…“ Against my usual reserved nature, I decided to be blunt. After all, we were in a fight together - doesn’t get much blunter than that.
***
We waited a few moments until we thought that most of the students had already left. „Listen, Junpei began, studying the ground beneath his feet, hand grabbing the strap of his backpack a little too tightly, I…wanted to say thank you, I guess - and sorry aswell.“ He glanced at me.
„You don‘t know me, but you stepped in anyway; and now, everyone refers to you as ‚the violent immigrant‘. If they‘re being nice. People are calling you all sorts of stuff…“ Pausing, he seemed to gather his words, unsure of what to say next. „I feel like I‘m kinda reasponsible for that…I‘m really sorry, (L/n).“ To my surprise, he bowed; it was something I wasn‘t used to yet - at least, to someone else bowing to me. I raised my hands, not knowing what to do with them, stumbling over my words. „Uh- n-no, please, don‘t apologize! Those assholes bully me aswell, so I was already angry when I saw what they were doing that day…“ I realized that I hadn‘t asked if he was okay.
„My god, speaking of - are you okay?! I saw what they did, I-„ „Oh, uh, no, don’t worry about me - he quickly rose back up, face reddened with embarrassment - I’m okay, really; just a few bruises, that’s all. What about you?“ The bruises on my abdomen were very much visible, and they while they hadn’t stopped hurting, they were getting better every day. There was a scratch on my cheek aswell, just beneath my eye; as if a cat had gotten to me. I tried a smile. „Same here. They’re gettin better by the day.“ There was an awkward pause. I took a breath and forced the things out that were on my mind. I studied the grounds of the school infront of me, listening to the cicadas buzzing.
„I’m glad they didn’t do more than that…“ I shifted my weight left to right, right to left. Suddenly, I was very aware of the summer heat on my face. „I hate that they do that to you, y’know…I think you’re cool. And nice. I don’t get why they want to hurt you so bad. It’s so damn unfair.“ Another pause. Subconsciously, I turned more and more towards the school, my face burning. Goddamn it, why did I say that? That was weird as hell.
„I think you’re cool too. I…“ I looked back at Junpei, who was fiddling with the hem of his school shirt, then letting it go before going back to fiddling. „Wh-when you read ‚The Shining’ before class one day, I honestly wanted to ask if you’d seen the movie…“ I snorted softly. „Duh. It was one hell of a movie. I had nightmares for, like, three days.“ His eyes lit up. He stopped fiddling.
„I know, right?! I watched it, what, five times! It‘s a prime example of what a scary movie actually is; one that uses Psychology to get under your skin!“
„Totally; but also: you spaced them out, right? I watched it twice in maybe a year so the effect would at least be similar; I don’t think it would have been as scary if I had seen it, like, three weeks after the first time.“ And just like that, we were talking.
Maybe three minutes later, my Father honked outside of the gate - my cue to leave; I felt a little disappointed as Junpei and I left the school.
Just as I approached the car, Junpei called out behind me. „(L/n), wait!“ I turned around expectantly. „Yeah?“ He was all red in the face again. „Uh, d-do you wanna go see a movie with me? Like, this Friday? It‘s ‚Godzilla vs King Kong’ - I thought it might be fun…“ I laughed, imagining what type of movie this would be. „First of all: Call me (Y/n). Second of all: absolutely. Would love to. Wanna work details out tomorrow?“
Junpei‘s eyes went wide and he smiled. I liked his smile. It was really sweet. „Y-Yeah, okay! Thanks! Then, see you tomorrow!“ I opened the passenger door with a „You too!“ and hopped in.
For the entire rest of the day, I couldn’t help but smile the entire time. I was ecstatic, and my host parents noticed.
„Well, I’m glad that you are so happy; I was worried that you might get into trouble again…“
My Mother took a sip of her water, then smiled at me. „You’re handling this very well, (Y/n). Over all, I mean.“ If it were possible, I only grew happier. I’m pretty sure that by the time I left the table to get ready for bed, I was glowing. I heard my Father chuckle as I skipped up the stairs with a muffled squeal. I could‘ve taken on the world if I wanted to. Instead, I danced around my room as i got changed into my Pyjamas and then made some doodles of an excited girl exploding into the air, taking off like she was Superman. It took a while, but when sleep finally came, I drifted off with a content sigh. Life was good.

Summer of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Bitty Adventures webisodes
In 2018, the SSC youtube channel uploaded five 4 minute webisodes, all based on stories from the 2016 comics run: Market Yourself, A Haunting in Berry Bitty City, Yes to the Dress, A Leg to Dance (Summer Dance Bummer), and Promotion Commotion (The Cane Critique). Each of these webisodes altered the stories slightly, including making the short stories longer and the longer stories shorter, and changing up which characters were involved, probably so they wouldn't have to make too many character models. They also didn't bring back the original voice actors (as far as I can tell, anyway--Sour Grapes' VA might be the same, but that's it), so everyone sounds a bit off, especially Orange and Sweet Grapes. These webisodes existing does mean that Raisin Cane and Steve Piemanne get voices, so there's that. I'm not sure if this was the intent, but Piemanne's voice sounds like a mix of the original 80s and SSC03 Pieman.
Watching the webisodes right after reading the comic stories they were based on gave me a new perspective on the changes made. When these websiodes first aired, it had been about a year since I last read the comics, and so the fact that the stories were changed stood out more than what exactly was changed.
Yes to the Dress is the story that had the most positive changes, even if they still made it so Orange was in Raspberry's role for no good reason. The original story was one of the shorter ones, so they added some extra scenes to the dress designing sequence and some extra dialogue after Sour storms out and at the end. In the comic, Sour Grapes attributes her liking the dress to her picking out a good design, while in the webisode she gives all the credit to Orange, telling her that not everyone gets her style. There's a scene in the comic where she gripes that Sweet picked the dress on purpose to mess with her that isn't in the webisode, and in the webisode she elaborates that she tries to be different from Sweet but ends up being the same more often than not.
Probably the worst offender when it comes to changes is A Haunting in Berry Bitty City, which tries to pretend that Strawberry's cafe is Blueberry's bookstore and trades Huck for Sweet Grapes. Plus it ruins the timing of my favorite gag in the story, having Sour's comment "Since when do ghosts know graphic design" come after the explanation that the "You're Next" written on the wall is just a flyer for a new book (I think the intention was for that to be a sarcastic comment, but if that's the case, the VA doesn't sell it). I still don't understand why they didn't just use Blueberry herself, since we saw that they made a model for her in Market Yourself.
Speaking of Market Yourself, this one is not too bad, though the biggest change (besides truncating the story to fit the four minute runtime, and altering the end a bit) is that it's made more explicit that Raisin is posting the videos to her own page to boost her own followers count, whereas in the comic she seems to be more concerned with what will go viral, regardless of whose page the videos are on.
A Leg to Dance is the most changed overall, as the original story takes place at a dance party and involved Plum Pudding and Apple Dumplin', and while Plum's initial dance move was also called The Unicorn, Apple's dance solution was The Berry Hop, patent pending. Also, the squirrel doctor from Berry Bitty World Record gave the No Dancing pronouncement, and Raisin Cane was not involved at all.
I'm not surprised that of the stories involving the Purple Pieman, the webisodes went with (a very abridged version of) The Cane Critique. The other competitions these two competed in were too involved to shrink down to just four minutes. And the whole "Pieman wins, but realizes he can't make good on Raisin's promises so he throws himself on Strawberry's mercy" bit is more amusing than the other stories where he cheats but Strawberry wins anyway. And this one has probably the best joke added to the webisodes: Sour Grapes' "Trust me, the internet never lies" (later) "Internet, how could you betray me like this!" Strawberry's commentary on comments is a close second: "They're not even looking at the menus...or using vowels!"
Tumblr media
Final thoughts: the webisodes definitely could have been better, but most of them are not as bad as I remembered, and a couple were even better than I initially thought.

Camp WonderDream: Leo's Limp Leg Part 4
Leo didn't know WHAT to expect when Balan flew out of the window to the Cabin, and to Counselor NiGHTS. The word "Dualize" didn't register in his mind. "Go on now and touch NiGHTS's hand" Balan instructed. The jester counselor delicately held out her hand, waiting for Leo to comply. The blonde haired boy hesitated, but eventually his hand touched NiGHTS, like he saw Yinu do on his first day.
A beautiful light erupted from the two, and Leo felt his limbs get longer, thinner, and his whole body had gained weightlessness. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was facing the opposite way, and Balan was smiling at him "What?" He asked, before slapping a hand to his mouth. That wasn't his voice! His voice now sounded almost like..."No..." He muttered. He floated over to the lake, and to his surprise, he saw NiGHTS staring back at him.
"Heehee!! It's always a bit weird the first time." NiGHTS Said, however, Leo couldn't see her. "Counselor NiGHTS? Where are you?" He asked. NiGHTS chuckled "I'm still here. This is called Dualizing. When you share my body." She explained. Leo looked at his now gloved hands. Was this really how Dualizing was? And if so, was this Balan's great solution?
"Um...Balan? Won't the other campers see NiGHTS, and not me?" Leo asked. Balan smiled "Don't worry, You're voice will be heard by the other children, and now you can still join in without the hindrance of your broken leg!" He said. "And speaking of which, It's Time for us to get a move on!" Balan finished as he himself lifted up into the air.
NiGHTS took control again and flew after him. Leo internally gulped. NiGHTS was already energetic and social as is...and NOW he was trapped in her body. He internally sighed.
"This is going to be a LONG day..."
This is a story inspired by @julili 's VERY adorable camp pic! I hope you enjoy AND go check out her work!

A Date between the Hermit and the Lover
“Uuuuuugggghhhhh. I’m totally not ready for this.” A loud exasperated sigh escaped Futaba as she flopped down on her bed feeling a bit in pain from a sudden pain attack that was flowing down her nerves and effecting every part of her body. Tonight was a very important night for her, as she had agreed to go on a date with Ann Takamaki and yet now she was just feeling like absolute garbage both physically and emotionally. She just wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to handle this, even if it was just to go to the dessert place in Shibuya. It was only available by reservation though! So that would make Ann really sad.
Looking over at her desk she saw her medicine for the pain attacks and she forced herself up and took two pills from it, washing it down by an energy drink that was by it. Her body was still on pins and needles but her body would hopefully calm down by the time that Ann arrived. In the mean time she decided to get herself looking nice. She was just wearing her casual summer outfit but she did decide to head downstairs to the bathroom and at least take a shower, wear some deodorant and get some perfume sprayed on her that Wakaba bought for her.
Now she was back in her room pacing back and forth, and that’s when he heard Ann’s voice. She was here, oh thank god. And while she was still feeling the pain attack it was starting to subside. So, making sure that she had her phone and a small wallet with some money and ID in it, she headed downstairs and opened the door. “Futaba-chan! You’re looking good tonight!” Ann complemented the young woman with a warm smile on her face before giving a kiss on the cheek that turned Futaba’s cheeks a dark shade of red.
Even just in her casual clothes Ann looked so amazing to Futaba, and the fact was that she was treated well because of that kindness. “So, ready to go? Remember, once we get there we have 40 minutes so please, please don’t be on your phone too much. It was suuuuuuch a hassle getting this thing in the first place.” Ann made sure that Futaba completely understood this. “Alrighty then! Oh I’m so looking forward to this! 40 minutes of having whatever desserts that we want! All on a dessert train! Isn’t that so cool!?”
Yeah, it was pretty cool. She was surprised that it was still open at this time but apparently they were trying a new thing of being open at a later time for the late night crowd, and it was just a temporary thing anyways. So, heading to the place they saw the warm inviting colors, the desserts going around the table as people had stacks of plates up to their head. Ann looked so excited as she told the waiter that they had a reservation and they were told to find a spot. They would sit right in the middle of the table and immediately she grabbed a pie with whipped cream. Futaba would grab a plate with a cake slice on it.
“Mmmm...yum.” Ann quickly ate her pie like there was nothing to it while Futaba was taking her time with her cake slice. “So uh, Futaba, do anything nice today?” She had to ask to break the ice. “I’m so sorry for being so busy lately. Oh and for falling asleep on your bed so suddenly like that. I’m never getting up at 6 am for a shoot ever again.” That definitely made her roll her eyes and sigh exasperatedly. It was good pay but also a pain in the ass. “Not really. Just the usual for me you know? I’m grateful though! It’s better than being attacked and being in the hospital!”
“Ah right, all that. Ugh, I’m sorry for not being there for you Futaba. At least not as much as I should’ve. I’ve finally gotten some more time though so that means I’m going to dedicate myself to you! So to speak anyways.” Taking a cake slice of her own she ate the strawberry. “Man, everything is so extravagant here. I love it.” And then she noticed that Futaba was on her phone and was talking to people on that chat app. “I told you not to be on that phone! Come on, please Futaba if this isn’t interesting for you please just tell me!”
Taking some of the whipped cream off her cake she smeared it against Futaba’s face and that caused her to put down the phone and respond in kind. It was time for a whipped cream! Well, a small one anyways as they were just smearing whipped cream on their faces, laughing amongst themselves as they got it on their noses and cheeks before stopping. “Ahahaha..hehehe, oh that felt good. You...you are alright, right Futaba?” “Yeah! Yeah! I’m fine!”
Was Futaba actually fine, though? “Now I’m just thinking about how bad I’m being at this date! Im focused too much on my phone, I’m not eating enough, you got this reservation and I’m wasting it! I’m being a horrible girlfriend as well and I know it! I’m definitely only being 3/10 material here! Sometimes I wonder how I even got together with you and I think wow wouldn’t she be better off with Akira and--” She was shut up pretty quickly by a kiss on the lips that sent steam coming out of her ears, metaphorically speaking anyways.
“You know why I decided to be your girlfriend Futaba. Because I’ve had feelings for you for a while now. But I just never knew how to express myself to you. Really. I meant that from the beginning.” She playfully licked off the whipped cream from Futaba’s nose which sent the nerd girl into a tailspin. “Hehehehe. That look on your face is why I love you so much. Plus, you are so smart and intelligent. Look at the way that you can code and hack into things. I’m so stupid in comparison and I know it. And I could just listen to you go on about stuff that you like for hours really. That’s why I love you, silly.”
The nerd girls cheeks couldn’t be any darker red at this point and she was just fidgeting in her seat as she grabbed another dessert plate and started to eat. “T-T-Thank you Ann...you always are so kind and j-just an amazing person you know that? L-L-Look um...” She was stumbling over her words but there was something that desperately needed to be said. “T-There’s something that I want to do with you when you take me home, alright? S-Something that I think should be kept private between us.”
Of course that would make Ann raise an eyebrow in curiosity. “Of course! Anything for you Futaba! I’m up for anything as long as I don’t stay too late!” With that out of the way the two of them were finishing up their desserts, now focused on them entirely. Ann got so many that her plate was super stacked up and there was a second one in mind. Futaba’s was decently high up but nothing as much as Ann’s. Ann paid with her modelling money and the two made their way back to the Sakura household, to Futaba’s room.
Ann was surprised though when the door was locked though and slightly concerned since she wasn’t sure what to expect. This was...definitely a private thing that was for sure. She waited patiently for Futaba to say something and was baffled by what was about to be said. “I-I-I want to make out with you! And for you to touch me! I need for you to touch me. Please...!” Futaba pleaded having a sad look of sheer desperation. She really needed this, huh?
“Um...alright! Are you sure you’re going to be alright with this? And this will definitely be only between the both of us, alright? I don’t need this being leaked out and people jumping over it like hungry sharks.” She lead Futaba over to the bed where they would both sit down and she turned to the side and pulled Futaba up into a kiss. She wasn’t sure if she knew what she was doing really but she was just running on instinct, her hands on Futaba’s sides as she deepened the kiss. It was nice, Futaba’s lips were soft, and there was still a hint of dessert on them.
Per Futaba’s requests, her hands would feel Futaba’s sides and she would let them roam her body a bit, touching the bare skin of Futaba’s arms as they wound up laying down on the bed now. It was a really small bed and they had to adjust themselves a good deal but they got to a comfortable spot as they held their lips against one another’s, letting off pleased noises. Ann stared deeply into her love’s, and it was like she was staring into a whole other world.
She started to pull Futaba’s outfit down just a bit, exposing some more bare skin, letting her hands roam over that. For a moment though she stopped as Futaba was clearly starting to get uncomfortable now. “I’m...I’m going to stop now Futaba, if that’s alright. You’re looking really uncomfortable and--” “No! Don’t stop!” There was some insistence heavy in Futaba’s voice as she said that. “I need this. Please, I need to get over my attack. Pat my head, touch my body, do everything!”
Wow, Futaba really was dealing with a lot. So to calm the girl down Ann would give her a kiss on the forehead and pat that head of hers in a soothing fashion while touching her body with her other hand. “I’ll do this for however long you need it, alright? I get it. I had a hard time accepting this sort of thing after Kamoshida. He...made me feel ashamed of myself. Truly, truly ashamed of myself and I didn’t want to be in this sort of position with anyone. But I trust you.”
She gave Futaba another kiss on the lips and would hold it, exuding love and trust into the kiss as she did what needed to be done. Which was feel and touch Futaba’s body. She needed this to get over her fear since the attack, plus she knew she had ulterior motives hidden anyways. The rest of the time would consist of light touching, Futaba snuggling up against Ann, and the two talking and kissing occasionally. It was really, really nice and she was comfortable. Unfortunately, she would have to leave soon.
“Okay, I have to go now Futaba but... I promise that we will do this again. Anything to help you through what you went through alright? I’m not leaving you high and dry like that again. Ever. You are my girlfriend and I’m going to treat you as such. I love you so much Futaba.” One more kiss on the lips would suffice before getting up and the two would hug before she headed to the door.
“M-Make sure to stay safe out there Ann! D-Don’t let the UFO’s kidnap and probe you!” Ann just sighed at that. “Don’t let hentai become reality Futaba. Anyways, see ya!” And with that she was off. That was a really nice date and cuddle session afterwards. She wanted it again. And would lock her door and cuddle with her UFO before passing out.
