I have this great need for both older Wheeler siblings to be very, very jealous. Jealous Mike is already basically canon, but what if jealous Nancy?
We haven't really seen it with Jancy, since Jonathan seemingly doesn't hang out with or even know a single other girl in the world.
I want Nancy's friendship with Robin to grow and deepen to the point where Nancy secretly dreams of it becoming more, and when Robin finally tells her that she and Vickie are more than friends, I want Nancy to surprise herself by getting insanely jealous.
Nancy's brain is short-circuiting and Robin starts panicking, stammering and trying to explain because she thinks Nancy doesn't approve of her being a lesbian.
Meanwhile, Nancy is trying to appear so normal about it, insisting that it's totally fine and great, that Vickie is....a really great person and it's....really, really great.
Robin is uneasy, thinking Nancy is doing her best to tolerate Robin's truth despite thinking it's gross.
Robin assures Nancy that she doesn't want to make her feel weird, that Nancy doesn't need to worry about Robin hitting on her, since they were friends and nothing was going to change that. Ironically, this makes Nancy angrier.
Nancy's head is spinning and she feels these ugly feelings rising in her chest, to the point where she has to excuse herself or she'll scream.
And all she can think is.....why couldn't it be me?

A little bit of Ronance angst (with a fluff ending, I’m not a monster) because I love to make myself sad.
This is the ficlet I was referring to in this post 👀
Word count: 2,078
This isn’t right. They never fight , not this badly anyway, not this painfully.
It starts over such a stupid thing, too; a phone call from Steve.
Robin walks into the kitchen after putting the phone down, Nancy humming and hovering around the stove cooking one of their favourites; chicken Alfredo pasta. She hears Robin sigh and take a seat on the counter and looks up, finding her girlfriend with a pensive look.
“What were you and Steve talking about?” Nancy tries to lighten the mood, that had suddenly become weirdly tense, like clouds going grey before it storms.
“It’s nothing, Nance,” Robin mumbles, “dinner smells great though,”
There’s a minute or two of strained silence before Nancy breaks it again.
“Is everything alright, Rob?”
Robin snaps, “I told you, it’s fine, Nancy,”
Taken aback, Nancy puts down the wooden spoon she’s stirring the pasta with and gives Robin a look, crossing her arms. There’s something Robin’s not telling her, something bothering her and it’s driving Nancy mad that her girlfriend won’t let her help.
“Rob,” she says, in more of a stern tone than she intended.
“Nance, don’t push it, alright?” Robin’s voice is slightly raised, and she gets off the counter and storms off to the bedroom.
Later, they eat dinner in silence, the only conversation between them a muttered ‘thank you’ from Robin and Nancy’s quiet ‘you’re welcome’ in response. It feels unnatural, almost unreal that the atmosphere around them is so vastly different than when it usually is. The tension only builds, like a fraying rope pulled taut. It’s when they are washing up that the rope snaps.
Robin’s just finished drying a plate, walking over to the cupboard to put it away when Nancy hears it shatter. She flicks around, and Robin is on the floor, scraping pieces of porcelain into her hands.
“Rob, don’t, you’ll hurt yourse-”
“Just leave me be, Nance, god,”
Nancy snaps back, “What’s up with you? You’ve been off since you called Steve, and for whatever reason you’re adamant on not telling me what’s wrong!” She’s louder than she anticipated, and falters slightly, after pang of guilt for shouting at her girlfriend.
“Maybe I wouldn’t be in such a bad mood if you didn’t keep poking at something that doesn’t concern you!” Robin’s yelling now, and this time Nancy doesn’t hesitate to reciprocate the volume.
“Doesn’t concern me? I’m your girlfriend, Rob, and if you’re not okay then I want to be able to help!”
“Well, you’re not helping,” Robin stands, leaving the porcelain in a pile on the floor, “I don’t need you to help and I don’t want you to help, so keep your nose out of it,”
Nancy just stands there, silent, so Robin continues. “Steve and I have been through shit, shit you won’t understand. You don’t have to know the ins and outs of everything, Jesus, Nancy,” Regret twinges in Robin’s gut.
The words sting like cleaning a fresh cut, but Nancy doesn’t waver; rubbing salt in the wound. “Oh, well if you can’t confide in me why don’t you go to Steve’s? I’m sure he’d love to deal with your bullshit just like he always does, because you don’t seem to trust me enough for that,”
“Trust? I’ve trusted you, followed all of your crazy shots in the dark and dumb plans, never questioning your judgement, but I don’t share one thing with you and you freak the fuck out,”
Nancy’s face is hot, her eyes sting, “Robin, you’re being such an asshole,” She takes a step towards her girlfriend, “I’m sorry my concern for you is imposing on all the ‘shit’ you and Steve have been through, must be too much for me considering I’ve been dealing with ‘shit’ for twice as long as you have,”
“It’s personal, Nancy, I don’t push you to talk about Henry, or the hospital, or Barb!” Robin knows it’s a low blow, feels guilt seeping out of her gut as soon as the words leave her mouth. She bites her tongue so hard she can faintly taste blood.
Nancy’s gaze is glued to the floor, her fists clenched so tight that her knuckles are white. “You need to go,”
Robin steps forward tentatively, trying to reach out to cup Nancy’s cheek, “Nance, I didn’t mean-“
“Don’t,” Nancy bats Robin’s hand away, giving her a hard glare. Her eyes are glossy with unshed tears and her lip is trembling. “Just go to Steve’s,”
Robin isn’t sure why she bites back. “Don’t you worry, sweetheart, I’m going to Steve’s,” Robin storms out of the kitchen, blinking back tears, slipping on her shoes, “Go cry to one of your exes about it, sorry I’m occupying one of them,”
“Fuck. You.”
Robin leaves the apartment, swinging the door shut behind her, and Nancy breaks. Hot tears stream down her cheeks and she just stands there, dumbfounded, staring at the door as if Robin’s coming back. Begging her silently to come back.
She finds herself wandering back to the kitchen, getting out a brush and pan and sweeping the broken bits of plate up. She doesn’t know how long she stays in the kitchen; sat on the counter and biting at the skin around her fingernails, reaching to pick up the phone off the wall only to hesitate and draw her hand back. Crying until she can hardly feel the tears running down her face or hear her nose sniffling.
When she finally brings herself to pick up the phone, after taking a long shower and mulling everything thing over. She’s promised herself, swore to herself since 1983 that she would always check up after a fight, since ‘84 she’s promised to never leave a fight unresolved. The phone rings three times before someone picks up.
“Munson residence, whaddya want?”
“Eddie?”
There’s a quiet gasp and a pause from the phone. “Nance? Hey, Robin came round earlier, is everything okay?”
“Honestly? No,” her voice cracks and she lets out a small sob.
“Woah, hey, Robin’s still here, she’s been talking to Steve all night, do you want me to-“
“No, no, I’ll uh, I’ll come and pick her up,” Nancy sniffles.
“Aright, just letting you know she’s probably a little tipsy,” Eddie says, “I’ll keep an eye on her and make sure she isn’t too drunk before you come around,”
“Thanks, Ed, see you soon,”
“See ya, Nance,”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Robin sniffles and Steve passes her a tissue.
“Fuck, I know she was just trying to like, let me know I could be open with her but I just can’t bring myself to, y’know?” Robin blows her nose and Steve nods along.
Robin continues, “And I don’t want her worrying because she’s doing so well at her new job and she doesn’t need that, plus I don’t think I’m ready to talk about with her, it’ll just be like reliving it all over again,”
“Why didn’t you tell her that then?” Steve is holding her hand, the way they always do when they have heart-to-hearts.
“Agh, I guess I was burnt out after talking to you in the phone? And she kept trying to check on me and I just got so frustrated,” She often feels that way; frustration stemming from exhaustion, or the lights being too bright, or being able to feel her clothes against her skin, or a sound she doesn’t like. “It’s no excuse though, I was being such an ass and I just couldn’t shut up and I was horrible to her, Steve,”
“And I might have made a comment about Barb,” Robin mumbles, the guilt and regret returning in a wave.
“Rob, that’s not okay, you need to apologise to her,” Steve takes a serious tone. Steve knows how the guilt over Barb’s death feels, to a certain extent; she died in his pool, while he and Nancy were upstairs, not bothering to check on Barb. He wasn’t ever able to swim in the pool alone again, especially when it was dark. It’s one of the reasons he was so eager to move out as soon as he got enough money.
But whatever guilt he felt, Nancy felt tenfold; it had destroyed her, she could hardly live with it sometimes, Robin knew well too.
“I don’t think she wants to see me right now,” Robin’s lip wobbles and she starts crying again, “Fuck, I love her so much, man, and I’ve screwed it all up because I was being a stubborn piece of shit,”
“Robin, hey,” Steve soothes, wrapping his arms around her in a hug, “You haven’t screwed it up, you underestimate how much Nancy loves you too; the best thing for you to do is apologise, and she should too,”
There’s a knock on the living room door.
“Eds, you can come in, love” Steve says after sharing a look with Robin to make sure she doesn’t mind his boyfriend walking in on her relationship crisis.
“Well uh, actually, Stevie, we have a guest,” Eddie’s comes in followed by another, shorter head of brown curls, paired with a tear-stained face and a sniffly nose.
The four are silent, the atmosphere thick with tension. Not the same tension as when Robin and Nancy were arguing; that was like the feeling after lightning had just struck, like rolling thunder. This tension was heavy like fog; gloomy and confusing and lost.
“We’ll let you two talk,” Steve says, getting up and exiting the room with Eddie. He closes the door quietly behind them, leaving Nancy stood staring at Robin with glossy eyes. Robin opens her mouth to say something but Nancy speaks first.
“Robbie, I’m so sorry,” she walks over to the couch and sits down next to Robin, leaving a foot or so’s distance between them, “I shouldn’t have pushed your boundaries and I-”
“Nance, stop,” Robin mutters, “I should be apologising; I snapped and shouted at you and took my emotions out on you and it wasn’t okay,” She doesn’t bother to wipe her tears now.
“Baby, don’t cry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” Nancy shuffles closer, and goes to hug Robin but hesitates. The two make eye contact and Robin nods, wordlessly letting Nancy know that it’s okay. Nancy wraps her arms around her tight, burying her head in the crook of Robin’s neck. Robin rests her head in Nancy’s hair, rubbing circles on the small of Nancy’s back.
“I’m sorry I was keeping stuff from you, I get that you were only trying to help,”
Nancy sniffles. “I’m sorry I was invasive, you and Steve are super close and I shouldn’t have been jealous of that; whatever it is you have no obligation to tell me, unless you’re ready,”
They hug quietly for a minute or so, until Robin Puls back slightly so she can look Nancy in the eye, “Also, what I said - about Barb - that was a low blow, and I’m so sorry, Nance, god, I’m sorry,”
“Thanks, Rob,” Nancy gives her a watery smile and cups her cheek, “I think we can agree we both said awful things, darling, but… are we okay?”
Robin lets out a raspy laugh and kisses Nancy’s forehead. “Yeah, we’re okay,”
They say their goodbyes (and thank yous) to Steve and Eddie - ‘cause hell, what would they do without them - and drive home listening to the mixtape they made for their first year anniversary. They sing along to every track, laughing and grinning like idiots. When they get home, they get changed and curl up in bed, not sleeping but just being together, cuddling and relaxing In each other’s presence.
“Nance?” Robin breaks the silence.
“Yeah Rob?”
“I think I’m ready to talk about it,”
“Are you sure, my love?”
She nods. She tells Nancy about her encounter in the Russian base, in that summer of ‘85 years ago now, beneath the Starcourt Mall; about the interrogation, the drugs, breaking out. Nancy was shocked - she’d known the basics of what happened but never the full, traumatising account Robin gave her, but she listened; she let Robin cry into her shoulder when she needed to, reminded her she could stop whenever she wanted, that she was here and not going anywhere.
“I’m so sorry, my sunshine, I’m sorry that all happened to you,” Nancy says, swiping away one of Robin’s tears with her thumb.
“Thanks Nance, for listening,” Robin snuffles, “I love you,”
“I love you too, so much,”

Nancy and Jonathan had broken up not long before Robin and Nancy's first interaction. It was awkward, Nancy was still feeling vulnerable and found Robin irritating but she bit her tongue through the encounter.
It was slightly awkward, both of their eyes darted between themselves and their surroundings. Nancy’s opinions on Robin varied, fluctuating between finding her weird and sweet. Her incessant rambling annoyed her slightly, making her grit her teeth as she tried to focus on the movie on the counter.
She was rambling about the movie, detailing her about the actors in the movie and taking her time to process it on the screen. Steve had come and gone many times as she stood there, her hands now clutching on the movie. Clearing her throat softly to divert Robin’s attention from the detailed description of the actors and to hand her, her receipt.
It took her a few moments before she finally slid across the itemised receipt, leaning over the counter slightly and circling areas which informed her when to return it. Their heads touched, Nancy jumped back quickly keeping a clear distance between them. Robin looked confused and mildly hurt as she moved her body toward the till, her eyes watching Nancy’s expressions as she clutched the movie close to her chest.
“Thank you for the movie, uh” she looked at Robin’s name tag from a distance and smiled.
“Robin, Buckley. Nice to meet you” extending out her hand with a smile but was greeted with an awkward look from Nancy.
“Uh, yeah. See you again” Nancy rushed out of family video quickly, throwing the movie in the passenger seat of her car.
Sitting there for a second as her eyes met Robin’s through the glass, their eyes stayed like that until Nancy began backing the car into the road. She turned on the radio and a song blasted through the speakers, her mind was fuzzy and confused as it flickered between the road and Robin.
Once she arrived home, the movie lingered in her bag fo a couple of hours before she had the courage to look at it again. Her parents had gone out, as she made some popcorn for one the movie title page played loudly on the tv. Getting comfortable on her sofa, she pressed play not realising that she had picked out a black and white silent film about a couple on the verge of getting married.
She finished the film much to her distaste, the popcorn didn’t taste as sweet in her mouth as she painfully watched the movie. Her mind flickered to Robin, making her feel slightly sick as the actors she spoke livelily about. Placing the popcorn down aggressively on the table, she ejected the movie and stuffed it inside its case and threw it deep into her bag. Not wanting to look at it, not wanting to think about anyone. Especially not Robin.
The VCR machine beeped as it turned itself off, Nancy's eyes fluttered between sleep and consciousness ignoring the noises as the television played in the background. She slept through most of the television shows on the television, was only awoken by the sound of the front door opening.
Mike burst through the door, slamming it loudly behind him and rushing into the kitchen. Nancy scowled at him, sticking her head up from the couch and listening to the sounds in the kitchen. She got up and wandered into the room, leaning on the doorframe just watching Mike rush around. Her arms were tightly crossed across her chest, a amused expression on her face.
''What is it you're making?'' her voice was filled with spite and hilarity.
''Grilled cheese, you're not having any'' he spat at her, his face was filled with annoyance as he tipped the grilled cheese onto his plate.
She laughed loudly at his response, watching him partially tidy up the mess that he had created. He shoved past her and raced upstairs, leaving her alone downstairs once more.
Sighing, she entered the kitchen and began making herself a hot chocolate. As she poured the mixture into the cup and began stirring, her thoughts drifted to Robin. Turning around with the cup firmly in her hands, looking at the clock was ticking loudly at it struck 8:30PM. Without a second thought, she drank the hot chocolate quickly and retrieved the movie before rushing out the door.
As she sat in her car outside of the Family Video store, her heart was racing as she clutched onto the movie and took a deep breath in before leaving the car. Hovering at the door, staring through the glass at the counter to see Robin and Steve laughing and talking together.
Her hands were shaking as she pushed the door open, they were engaged in a lively conversation that stopped at the sound of the bell. Nancy was usually a confident and outgoing person but as she stood there awkwardly with Robin's and Steve's eyes on her, she felt herself shrivel with nerves.
As she walked closer to the counter, Steve's eyes darted between Nancy and Robin and picked up the pile of movies to be returned to the shelves. He wandered to the furthest corner and began returning the movies in his hand, Nancy was still standing hesitantly in front of the counter.
Robin sensed that Nancy was nervous and began her rambling again, Nancy awkwardly smiled as she brought the movie to the counter and slid it across in Robin's direction. Robin nodded and accepted the movie, entering into the system whilst still talking intensely about the movie itself.
“You know, I don’t really like this movie” Robin’s attention was diverted as she typed quickly on the keyboard, looking occasionally at Nancy who was twirling her thumbs as she looked around the store.
“Oh? I found it a bit boring” her voice came out mouse like as she peered over the counter, trying to be noisy.
After Robin had entered the information of the movie, she turned her attention back on to Nancy who was standing awkwardly with her arms resting on the counter. Their faces were inches away from touching, awkwardly Robin stood back. Her eyes darted towards Steve who was walking slowly back with empty hands, he smiled at them both before picking up more movies from the pile on the edge of the counter and disappearing again.
“So? Is there any other movies you wanted to watch lately? “ Robin chuckled nervously as she tried to continue the conversation with Nancy before it fizzled into nothingness.
“Yeah, actually, Fast Times at Ridgemond High” she laughed looking at Robin sheepishly as she watched her burst into laughter.
“You’ve never watched it?” Still laughing as she looked half shocked and half in amazement.
Nancy shook her head, Robin’s laughter was somewhat infectious as she found herself unable to not laugh again.
“Wow, well I own a copy. If you ever wanted to watch it sometime” her voice was shaking with nerves as she asked her, wondering if it was to forward to ask her to hang out.
They hardly knew each other, only through mutual friends and Robin was sure that she was straight. Her previous relationships being with men, she was nervous to even steal a glance at her without wondering if it was too much.
She did it anyway, finding Nancy’s eyes meeting hers.
Her stomach fluttered with excitement, blushing and smiling softly. Hiding her face between the screen, Nancy hadn’t answered her question and the overwhelming feeling of doubt. Maybe her feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated.
“Uh, yeah that sounds good. Just let me know when you are free and want to watch it” she smiled again, the half smile.
Robin felt like she had been burnt by her smile, her attitude wasn’t as outgoing as it had been a few seconds ago. She was scared that she had drawn Nancy anyway by being to forward.
“Well anyway, I should probably get going. I only really came back to bring back the movie” nodding lightly before walking backwards towards the door, a smile plastered on her face. As she stood holding the door, she waved at Robin and stayed there for a second before letting the cold air hit her face.
She suddenly felt stupid for waving at her, embarrassed. As she sat in her car, staring at the door and wondering if she should go back in to get a movie. Feeling like she shouldn’t have left empty handed, as her hand touched the car lever she felt no desire to go back inside.
Turning the key in the car, she drove away from the store. Her mind was racing as she stared at the road, she couldn’t stop thinking about Robin. Her laugh rang in her ears, even after she turned up the volume of her music.
It confused her.
Why was she feeling this way for her?
She hardly knew Robin but it felt nice to speak to her in those brief moments, she knew that she would be seeing her again soon.
Once she arrived home, she snuck in quietly through the front door and into her bedroom. She threw herself down hard on her bed, sighing loudly and closed her eyes. All she could picture was Robin.
After hours of tossing and turning, she finally managed to get some sleep. Awoken bright and early to her mom knocking loudly on her door, the lights was streaming in through her open curtains as she opened her eyes.
Her hair a mess, still wearing last nights clothes she groaned loudly and invited her mom in.
“Nancy, you promised me that you would be up early today. We had plans remember?” Her tone was demanding and harsh.
Nancy groaned and got up out of bed, opening her closet door aggressively and stared at her clothes. Scanning the hangers for something to wear, she threw a few things on her bed and scowled at her mom who left the room without another word.
She sat on her bed, running her hands across her face and through her hair. She was exhausted, her mind still racing with images and thoughts. Sighing she fell onto the bed, her head hitting the metal hanger making her squeal with pain as the hook got tangled in her hair.
Annoyed with herself and everything, she sat up quickly as she tried to delicately remove the metal hook that was tangled in her hair. After removing it with still most of her hair intact, she threw the clothing on the floor wanting to scream. She stared at the clothing crumpled up on the floor, exasperated she hesitated slightly before picking it up and getting changed.
Once changed, she stomped down the stairs to find her mom leaning against the kitchen counter with a coffee mug firmly in her hands. She smiled at Nancy who curled her lip in her direction and threw her body onto one of the free chairs in the living room.
Her dad was half asleep on the corner chair with the news blaring from the television. Rolling her eyes, she stared at the television, still half asleep herself.
“Nance, do you want anything to eat? Do you want any coffee? I’ve made some in the pot if you want any”
Her mom voice rattled annoyingly through her ears, she raised her eyebrows and got up from the couch sighing again.
“Sure, thanks mom” she gritted her teeth, smiling at her and getting the cup that her mom had placed in front of the pot of still piping hot coffee.
She stood there in the kitchen, her mom still leaning against the counter with a magazine lying in front of her. The coffee burnt her hands slightly as she stared off into the distance, letting her thoughts take her away again.
Thinking about again. Her heart was racing, instantly becoming nausea of the idea of looking at her lips as she laughed, as she smiled.
These intense feelings confused, just as she was confused last night.
Her coffee was still scolding her hands as she gripped it tightly, jolting as her mom touched her shoulder. Her eyes flickering towards her mom, who was looking at her concerned with a weary smile on her face.
“Nance, grab some toast and we can head out yeah? It’s just turned 9am” her voice sounded calm and soft as she squeezed Nancy’s shoulder before placing her empty coffee cup near the sink and exiting the room.
Nancy blinked herself out of her thoughts, took a sip of her coffee which burnt her tongue. In shock she threw the cup down on the side and grabbed a glass filling it up with water and cooling her tongue down.
Once again as she stared into the garden, her thoughts drifted to Robin. Shaking herself out of it, she began preparing some toast and blowing aggressively on her coffee before daring to take another sip. She stared off into the living room, watching the pictures flicker on the tv and the steam from the coffee began to fade. Jumping at the noise of the toast popping out, she slowly made her way to the toaster her eyes glazed over from her thoughts.
After eating her burnt toast and the now cold coffee, she shouted for her mom and grabbed her jacket that was hanging up. Her mom came down within seconds, a big smile on her face and her makeup done to perfection. She kissed her dad on the cheek and the girls left the house.
It was quiet in the cold car, Nancy was shivering as she stared out the window. Her mom was moving along to the beat of the radio, singing out of tune and tapping her fingers against the steering wheel.
After driving for what seems like ages, her mom stopped. Pulling into the car park, Nancy was still staring out the window until the realisation hit her. They were outside Family Video. Her mom was already outside, turning back she waved at Nancy to follow her.
Her stomach was summersaulting with nerves, as she slowly followed her mom into the store. Robin was nowhere to be seen, Steve was flirting with a boy at the counter when they entered. Nancy breathed a sigh of relief as they wandered around the store, her mom browsing the family friendly movies and debating between two awful looking movies.
Nancy left her with the two movies in her hand and went to find the 18+ movies, not looking where she was going she felt herself bump into someone. Someone who smelt wonderful and looked it, at closer inspection she noticed that they were in a Family Video uniform and her stomach sunk.
It was Robin.
She turned around quickly, their faces once again were extremely close. Nancy watched as her eyes filled with excitement as she recognised her, that damned smile appeared on her face. She was clutching onto a few movies which fell into the basket below making them both wince at the noise.
''So, you're back again then?'' Robin spoke in a whisper like tone, her smile turning into a smirk but she seemed just as nervous as Nancy.
''Uh, yeah- well my mom needed to come here. I didn't know you worked Saturdays'' Nancy choked on her words as she spoke, her eyes darting from Robin and the store. Trying to locate her mom.
''ahah, yeah i'm hardly ever not here. Unfortunately. '' she laughed at Nancy's question, shoving her playfully their bodies had moved away from each other. Nancy felt awkward but laughed with her.
Robin's eyes sparkled as she stole a glance at Nancy and began to shelve the movies in the basket.
''Uh- can I help you?'' Nancy's words were broken as she picked up some of the movies from the basket. Robin smiled at her as she moved herself further down so that Nancy could squeeze next to her.
They stood there, shoulders touching as they filled the empty shelf. Robin was gleaming, she looked at Nancy from the side and saw a slight smile on her face. Her stomach flipped as they caught each others eye.
Robin had, had a crush on Nancy since she saw her in school, knowing her name from the school newspaper but didn't realise Nancy Wheeler had such a pretty face.
They had accidently bumped into each other in school a couple of weeks ago, it had not left Robin's mind since. But the day, they finally had a conversation, a rather awkward conversation, Robin dreamt about seeing her again and now as they stood together in store it felt perfect.
Karen interrupted them as they finished the first half of movie pile in the basket, much to both of their annoyance. She crept up on them and scared them as she whispered directly into Nancy's ears.
''Ah! Mom, please don't do that.. You scared me'' she scowled slightly at her, catching Robin's eye and rolling her eyes at her. Robin laughed and picked up more movies from the pile.
''Nance, I'm ready to go if you are, I don't mind if you want to stay here with your friend though?'' she smiled at Robin, who smiled awkwardly back. They both looked at Nancy, awaiting a response.
Nancy didn't reply for a while, Robin decided to bite the bullet and ask her something.
''Well, I could always see you later. There is that film you wanted to watch?'' She smiled at her, Nancy nodded and looked at her mom for reassurance even though she knew that she would be going anyway.
''Yeah that sounds good, I think Steve still has my number. Just ring the house later and we can arrange something. If that's okay?'' she smiled into her hands, as Robin nodded. Still placing the movies on the shelf.
''Well, I speak to you later. Bye Robin.'' Nancy waved as she left Robin alone in the aisle, her heart skipping at the sound of her name coming out of Nancy's mouth.
She didn't realise how nice her name could sound coming out of her mouth.
Nancy thought about Robin all day, as she let her mom size up clothes against her body in the changing room. As she spoke to Joyce Byers in the grocery store, as she made eye contact with Jonathan he smiled sadly at her. She was standing back from the two moms when he walked up to her, he was clutching onto a box of cereal.
''Hi Nance.'' he sounded sad as he spoke, observing her in front of him.
''Hi Jonathan, are you okay? '' she reached over and touched his arm, he flinched slightly but he let her touch him. She wondered if he missed her, they had broken up because he was unsure about himself. They were hardly seeing each other, he spent a lot of time with Steve. They fought at school but after spending some time together in a cell, they somewhat bonded.
''Yeah, I'm doing fine. Its a surprise to see you, I mean I knew that I would see you again. How are you? '' he stuttered on his words, a half smiled appeared on his face.
''I'm doing okay, I'm glad to hear that you are doing okay. You and Steve still talking? I made acquaintances with the girl called Robin? You know of her?''
He watched as she rambled in front of him, his smiled widened as she bombarded him with questions. He had missed her, he missed the way she would get excited by the smallest of things. He missed his best friend.
''I miss you'' he blurted out, not answering any of her previous questions. She looked stunned, registering what he had just said. But she felt it too.
''Well, I miss you too Jonathan. We should hang out soon'' she smiled, squeezing his arm a little tighter.
Their moms joined their stance a few moments later, smiling and looking at their children which such admiration. They began discussing future plans and other boring things that made Nancy and Jonathan look at each other sheepishly.
''Well it was lovely seeing you Karen, I hope to see you lot soon. It would be lovely to have dinner together soon'' Joyce smiled, hugging Karen and Nancy.
Jonathan hugged Nancy goodbye and the Byers disappeared out of the store, Karen and Nancy finished their shopping and began wondering around town.
After a couple of hours of scouring all of the thrift shops, Karen noticed that Nancy had began to get tired and bored so she decided that they head home. Once home, Karen spent the rest of the afternoon in the kitchen and organising the clothes in Mike's room.
Nancy's phone rang as the clock in the kitchen hit 3 O' Clock, picking up expecting it to be Jonathan or one of the girls from the newspaper. She was somewhat shocked when she heard Robin's voice but relaxed a little when she remembered that they had arranged to meet up and her stomach flipped with excitment and nerviness.
''Hey you. How are you?'' Robin's voice sounded angelic down the phone, she sounded as pretty as she looked.
''Yeah, i'm okay. Pretty tired, spent most of the day following my mom. How are you?'' she laughed half heartedly, Robin sensed the exhaustion in her voice but was desperate to see her.
''I'm doing well too, my shift is over now. You still fancy watching that movie?'' Hesitantly asking her, the phone went silent for a few seconds before Nancy spoke again.
''Yeah that sounds nice, but you were warned that I am tired'' she smiled softly down the phone, yawning loudly down the phone. Making them both laugh.
''Okay, I will see you soon'' she proceeded to tell Nancy her address and they hung up. Nancy fell back onto her bed, sighing happily until those feelings of uncomfortableness creeped in.
Her expressions changed rapidly, before she found herself searching for a new outfit in her closet. Throwing everything onto her bed in a huff as she found nothing that seemed nice, working herself up into a state. She began to wonder why she was going through all this effort, for a friend?
After sitting there in the pile of her clothes, she finally stood up and tried on every outfit until she found one that suited her perfectly. Light blue jeans, a baby pink blouse with a gold belt, she separated her hair with a plastic black headband leaving a few strands of hair sitting on her neck. Her makeup was light, after reapplying it several times, she grabbed her brown fur jacket and headed downstairs.
Her mom was standing over the oven, cooking food for the family whilst her dad was still sitting on the same place she saw him in earlier. Grabbing her keys from the bowl in the hallway, she called goodbye to her mom and rushed out the door.
She sat in her car on the driveway lost in her thoughts before she decided to leave, her hands were shaking as she gripped tightly onto the steering wheel. Remembering the address directions that Robin told her until she reached what appeared to be Robin's house. It was nice and small, once parked outside she checked herself in the mirror once more before exiting and standing in her doorway. Still shaking as she rang the doorbell.
Robin answered almost instantly.
She looked pretty, her hair looked messy from work in her colourful silk shirt and dark blue jeans.
Inviting her in, Nancy looked at her house with the beautiful paintings and various plants that were scattered across the place. She was taken into her living room, there were several couches and a television in the corner with multi-vhs tape player that looked impressive to her.
Politely, taking a seat on the edge of one of the available couches and waiting for Robin to join her. Finally after rushing between the living room and the kitchen, she placed a couple of bowls of popcorn on the coffee table in front of her and entered the movie into the VHS player.
She sat down next to Nancy, her arm resting on the back of the couch. Nancy relaxed into the seat and stared at the television, Robin passed the bowl between them as the movie started.
Half way through the movie, the popcorn bowl was half empty and Nancy's head had fallen onto Robin's side of the couch, edging closer to her Robin rested her head on her shoulder for support. Allowing her to sleep for a little longer, she looked peaceful as she snored softly on the edge of Robin's shoulder. She slept for the rest of the film, Robin's laughter vibrated against her head as she sat up watching the film intently. Nancy woke up 20 minutes towards the end of the film, frazzled and confused as she got used to her surroundings.
''Uh, did I sleep for most of the film?'' her voice was raspy and sleepy, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes as she kept her head resting on Robin's shoulder. She felt comfortable and relaxed, the confused feelings seeped into her brain and she shot up suddenly moving away from Robin instantly.
''Yeah you did, it was sweet. You did warn me'' she laughed lightly, her shoulder felt cold as Nancy moved her head away from her. Missing her touch within seconds, she edged closer to her.
''Well, I'm slightly annoyed that I missed the whole film. I was really looking forward to seeing it'' she felt herself sulking into her arms, Robin touched her shoulder softly making Nancy tingle.
Nancy stared at her hand on her shoulder, wanting to push it away as it made her nervous but felt comforted by her warm touch. She smiled at her wearily, watching as Robin got up at once and rushed towards the VHS player. Replaying the tape and pressing play before sitting back next to Nancy.
''There! I fixed it'' her voice was full of glee as she bounced back onto the couch, Nancy stared at her in her amazement.
She replayed the tape just for her? Because she missed it?
She looked at her softly, full of content and adornment. Her heart was beating fast, she couldn't stop looking at her so kindly. Even though it made her feel half sick and half with excitement.
Was she allowed to look at her like that? Was she allowed to think about her like that?
Not noticing that Robin was staring at her too, she felt giddy with excitement. Simply being in her presence filled her with joy, she was sat with Nancy Wheeler. The girl who ran the newspaper room, the girl who pushed into her in the hallway and the girl who strictly dates men.
Her heart sank as these thoughts raced through her mind, knowing that Nancy would never like her back. The doubt consumed her every time she thought of her. As if all she wanted was to know if Nancy ever thought of her.
Such kissable lips, desperate to be touched. Robin leaned closer to Nancy, brushing a strand of hair that had fallen across her face. Her hand caressing her soft lips, feeling how delicate and dry they are. Nancys position had changed, she was turned away from Robin slightly but still able to look at her. Admire her from afar.
Her lips ached to be touched again, it felt so fresh to feel her hands on her. They felt fragile, that any touch could break them and she had a unnatural desire to try and break them.
The emotions that flowed through her body were foreign to her, ones that had been confusing her since they first met in that hallway. Nancy remembered it, she thought about it a lot but the first conversation of theirs was one that had stuck in her mind. She had wanted to change her reactions and words but she kind of hoped her feelings would fade, like a phase. But they hadn’t yet.
The film continued in the background, the popcorn bowls were now empty as Nancy tried her hardest to pay attention. She was unsure what the movie was truly about but had heard a lot of people in her head talking about it and Robin’s reaction in the store that day made her want to watch it more.
She found the film funny and lighthearted, something that she could watch again. Robins laugh was pretty and contagious, relaxing into the movie their hands touched across the couch. Nancy jumped slightly at the touch but didn’t fight it, even though she wanted to. Feeling a little uncomfortable, she didn’t move her hand as Robin tangled their hands tighter together so that they were completely intwined. They stayed like that for the rest of the movie.
Once it had finished, they sat watching the credits roll past along with its accompanied music until the television returned the scene back to the menu. Robin turned to her grinning like a school child, her eyes were full of joy and intrigue.
“So after finally watching it, what did you think?” “ she was peering at her, eagerly awaiting her response.
“I enjoyed it, I thought it was good and funny” she smiled, their hands were still entangled together. Staring intently at one another.
Nancy felt confused as she looked her, her emotions were torn in too. She knew that feeling this way wrong everything she had ever been taught about love and relationships was being thrown out the window from one glance off her. She found herself stealing more glances than she was receiving.
Rain had begun to pour heavily outside, thick dark clouds filled the sky as it opened up and noises of thunder were heard before the flash of lightening illuminated the streets. Robin jumped at the noise, Nancy chuckled at her reaction and squeezed her hand together.
“I don’t think you should leave Nancy, I think that it’s unsafe for you to drive in thunder and the lightening is happening more often than not” she rambled nervously, trying to laugh away her obvious fear.
“Well I just think you’re scared” Nancy pushed her lightly into the couch, her body was shaking as their grip tightened. Hurting Nancy slightly.
“Do you mind if we go upstairs?” Robin squeaked just as the noise of thunder got louder and the lightning appearing more and more.
Nancy nodded and smiled softly.
As they rushed upstairs, the lights suddenly switched off leaving them in complete darkness on the stairs. Their hands were tightly wrapped together, Nancy’s body was closer to her now. Her free hand was gripping onto her shoulder at an attempt at reassurance. Robin felt terrified as her body shook against Nancy’s.
“Come on, let’s go into your room. You’ll be safer there” Nancys voice was calm and soft as she whispered into Robins ear. Gulping loudly, Robin began moving slowly upstairs the stairs until they reached her bedroom.
Pushing the door open, and covering her eyes with her hand leading the way for Nancy. They sat on the bed awkwardly for a few moments before she got up, using the minimal light to lit a few of her candles, closing the curtains and sitting softly next to Nancy.
She smiled in her direction, still scared of the noise, faint music was drifting around the room as she fell down onto the bed. Nancy picked up the blanket next to them and threw it over them both, nervously edging closer to Robin. Their faces centimetres away from each other, their breath was touching as Nancy stared at her she placed an arm around her and kissed her cheek. Robin's eyes opened at once, tears had formed in her eyes as she buried herself deeper under the blanket, her head now resting upon Nancy's shoulder with her eyes closed once again.
Nancy let go of the blanket, letting it fall on top of them and raised her hand towards Robin's hair and began stroking it softly. Humming along to the faint noise of the music, after a while she felt Robin slowly stop shaking and she smiled. Her eyes weren't scrunched up in fear, she looked sleepy as they lay there, their bodies still touching.
Neither of them moved for a while, Nancy began getting sleepy herself and knew that Robin wouldn't be okay if she left her. Knowing the only real option was to stay here under the blanket with her, she admired her beauty as Robin slowly drifted off to sleep. Looking at the crinkles in her cheeks, her dry and chapped lips that were begging to touched, her freckles underneath her eyes that covered her nose. Her hair had become static from the weight of the blanket on top of them but Nancy still thought she looked pretty.
As continued to stare at her lips, she edged closer to her closing her eyes tightly. She kissed her, startling Robin slightly but she relaxed into Nancy's lips, placing her hand on Nancy's head and brought her closer kissing her harder.
Nancy didn't think in those moments, her doubt and self-hatred for kissing a girl would have to be thought about later. Robin's lips tasted sweet and soft as they kissed, she didn't want it to stop. Their eyes tightly shut, they stayed that way until it began to get hotter underneath the blanket and Robin didn't appear to be scared anymore. They lifted the blanket off them, Nancy had pulled away from Robin just staring at her. Robin wanted to cry, the look of disgust that was plastered on her face made her feel sick. S
She got up at once, opening her closet and throwing some night clothes in her direction before leaving the room. Nancy sat there stunned but as she saw her reflection in the mirror on the desk, she understood. Embarrassment creeped through her body, she felt sick at the sight of herself. She was so judgemental, knowing that Robin liked girls by the way she was kissed.
Aching inside herself as the thoughts began to unravel but as the image of Robin flashed through her mind, she felt good. It felt okay to hurt this way, something felt different.
Robin was sat on her toliet seat crying into her hands when a soft knock was heard on the bathroom door, she wiped her eyes quickly from a few tears and opened the door.
It was Nancy.
She looked apologetic and slightly scared. Robin let her inside, standing staring at each other.
''I'm sorry'' she stepped closer to Robin, her arms reaching over to touch her shoulder. Robin flinched and back into the sink behind her.
“I know you are but you should have seen the look you gave me. Nancy” tears began forming in her eyes as her voice broke, looking down at the floor to avoid eye contact with her.
“I did see, I saw myself in the mirror and I’m disgusted with myself. You are the first girl I have ever kissed, so I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you” she stuttered on her nerves as she spoke, her arms were either side of Robin’s shoulders as she looked down to meet her eyes.
Her face was red and blotchy from crying, tears were falling quicker as breathing sped up. The touch of her on her shoulders, helped slightly but as their eyes met. She melted, completely falling into her arms and crying on her shoulder. She felt silly and embarrassed.
Sobbing in her bathroom in Nancy Wheelers arms, how pathetic can you be?
She thought, making her feel even worse. Nancy rubbed her back, soothing her and playing with her hair lightly. They stood there for 10 minutes until Robin moved away, her cheeks flushed red. Distracting herself by scrubbing her face hard with freezing cold water, Nancy decided to leave her and pattered back into Robin's bedroom.
Staring at the night clothes that were placed on the edge of her bed, she smiled and sighed before getting changed. They were cosy and fit perfectly, once changed she stood in the corner examining her bookshelf when she entered the room.
''Hey'' her voice was shaky but soft, closing the door softly and stood clutching on the door handle just staring at Nancy.
''Hi'' Nancy turned around, holding onto one of the books off her shelf. She looked concerningly at her, placing the book down on the desk and walked closer to her.
“Well we should probably go to sleep, I can make you a bed if you’d prefer” Robin rambled again with nerves as she sat on down the bed.
She had changed into her bed clothes in the bathroom. She looked pretty and sad. Fake smiling at her, trying to hide her real feelings.
“No, this is fine” she smiled at her, perching herself on the edge of the bed. Robin had rolled over with her back facing Nancy.
It was a cold atmosphere in her room as she buried into the bed covers, the lights had come on earlier when they were huddled beneath the warm blankets. Nancy felt hurt by her reaction, unsure what she had done wrong she lay there in the bed.
“Are you okay?” She broke the silence, Robin didn’t speak just lying there on her side complementing whether or not to say anything.
“I know that you don’t like girls, that you may never like me but it hurt me. I’m still feeling hurt, I think I’m okay and we will be. We are only friends aren’t we?“ her voice broke as she spoke, her back was still facing away from Nancy.
“Uh, yeah I guess we are” Nancy sighed as she spoke, deciding not to fight her. She couldn’t do anything about the fact that she had hurt Robin, she knew that she needed time.
They both lay there in the dark, staring off into the distance. Thinking about each other, even though they were lay so close. They both felt so far away.
After a while, they fell asleep. The sun rose into the bedroom, waking Nancy up at 7am. She rolled over to find the bed empty, she sighed feeling guilty and sad. Lying there in her depression, she stared between the gap in the curtains and the window looking at the silhouettes of birds. Wallowing in her anxious and depressed state for an hour longer before deciding to get changed, it was cold in the room.
She felt awful, still wearing yesterday's clothes as she wandered downstairs. The television was playing as she reached the bottom of the stairs, wanting to slip away without a word but as found herself unable to move. Robin crept round the corner with two hot coffees in her hands, she smiled at Nancy and tilted her head towards the living room. Nancy nervously followed her, the fire was roaring heat into the room, the cups were placed on the coffee table as she sat down with Robin.
They sat watching the television for a while until Robin spoke into her cup.
''How are you this morning, did you sleep okay?'' her words were mumbled but sounded sincere and soft.
''Yeah I think I passed out. Your bed was rather comfy. Did you?'' picking up her cup of coffee and turning to face her as she spoke.
Their eyes met, Robin noticed how tired she looked but she still looked pretty in this light with her features illuminated. She wanted to look at her forever.
''Yeah I think I did the same, I feel embarrassed for crying on you last night'' she sheepishly spoke, clutching her cup tightly her eyes flickering between Nancy and the television.
''Don't be embarrassed, it's okay. I'm sorry for hurting you, it was insensitive of me to look at you that way. I'm just confused and it reflects nothing about you.''
''Yeah I know, I was just overly tired and worked up from the storm that I took it out on you. I understand''
They sat watching the television together for a couple of hours until the clock in the living room struck 12PM.
“Hey, this might sound wild but do you fancy grabbing some food. It’s a Sunday so not much is happening in Hawkins” Robin’s eyes lit up as she enthusiastically turned to Nancy and asked. Hoping that it wasn’t to much.
“Yeah, that sounds nice. I would just be sat at home doing my homework.” They smiled at each other and grabbed their things.
Nancy drove them out of Hawkins from Robin’s terrible directions, it took them 30 minutes to find the diner. It was packed full of every kind of life, families with their screaming babies, truckers eating their all brunches and lone riders drinking their plain black coffees in silence.
The atmosphere was funky as they were seated at a booth, the window was overlooking the highway. Menus as tall as the ceilings, hiding themselves behind them as they scanned the crowded menu. Once chosen her food and drink, Robin popped her head around the side of the menu with a big grin on her face. Her legs were dangling and kicking Nancy slightly causing her to wince but smirk as she looked at Robin with a naughty glint in her eye.
“So what are you going to order then?” She beamed at her from across the table.
“I think I might have a coffee with pancakes and some fruit. What about you?” She smiled softly at her and placed the menu down on the table.
“I was going to get bacon pancakes with extra syrup and a strawberry milkshake. I’m so excited” she had the look of a child in a candy store on her face.
The waitress floated over to the table and took their order. Robin was beside herself, rambling on about how good the food was and how she used to go here all the time with a girl called Vickie. But her words trailed off half way through the sentence and she began to sit in silence until the drinks arrived.
Nancy wondered who Vickie was, slight jealously crept up on her. This girl had an obvious impact on her as Robin’s facial expressions changed rapidly, Nancy reached out and touched her hand across the table smiling softly at her. Robin was hesitant to accept her hand but lightly locked their fingers together, her stomach was fluttering hard at the touch. She felt sick.
Turning her attention towards the window, their hands were still entangled on the table. Nancy squeezed her hand, trying to divert her attention. She felt somewhat protective of her, she didn’t like seeing her hurt even more than she already was. Even though Robin had said that they were okay, she had sensed that there was still something wrong.
“Hey, you okay?” She looked concerned a Robin turned to look at her as she began to reply they were interrupted by the waitress bringing over their food.
They tucked into their food, Robin’s eyes were still sad as she ate the bacon before the pancakes. Making gross slurping noises which annoyed Nancy, she giggled softly at her reaction.
An hour later, they were still sat there talking even after their plates had been taken away, Nancy tried to cheer her up. They laughed a lot, enjoying each other’s company. Splitting the bill, Nancy drove them back to Robin’s house and as they sat in the front of the car in silence.
Robin cleared her throat, shifting her glance from her fingers to gaze into Nancy’s eyes.
“I’ve really enjoyed seeing you. It’s been a good weekend. I hope we can do it again” she smiled softly and got out the car, leaving Nancy stunned in the drivers seat.
She laughed in shock, waiting for Robin to disappear inside and she drove home.
When she arrived home, her parents were sat in the living room watching some mindless television show. Karen was knitting another baby jacket as she stood in the doorway.
''Hi Nance. How was your weekend?'' her tone seemed disinterested and harsh.
''It was good, thanks Mom. I'm going to upstairs and catch up on my homework. Night''
Her parents mumbled their goodnights and she hurried upstairs.
The weeks flew by, Nancy and Robin saw more of each other. Stealing glances in the hallway, intently bumping into each other just as a chance to talk. This Monday was different. Nancy had seen a movie with Robin and had forgotten about her mountainous pile of school work.
When she awoke, her schoolwork was scattered across her desk and room. Shaking herself out of her slumber, she quickly got changed. Her bedside clock just chimed 7:30am, relaxing a little more she stared at her school work once more before heading downstairs.
She had plenty of time to continue her school work which she had fallen asleep on. Her mom was in the kitchen making her and Mike some breakfast, her dad had already gone to work. The television played in the background of the uncomfortable silence, sitting at the dinner table with Mike. He glared at her.
''So where were you this weekend? With your little friend?'' he was mocking her, she rolled her eyes at him and offered him no response. Just in time for Karen to place their breakfasts in front of them, Nancy woofed hers down along with the piping hot coffee and rushed back upstairs.
The next hour passed quickly as she lay on her bed scattered with her school work, once she was satisfied with the amount she had gone. She grabbed her keys, adjusting her hair in the hallway mirror and rushed out the door.
Her nerves were making her shake rapidly as she drove to school, as she reapplied her makeup once more in the parking lot. Not noticing the figure of a girl hovering in her window, the soft knock made her jump dropping her lipstick on the floor by her feet. Once collected, she turned to look and saw Robin grinning at her. Rolling her eyes, she wound the window down.
''Hi Robin. Thank you for the scare'' she growled at her, Robin rested her arms on the side her face inches away for hers. Staring intently at her lips.
''Oh, you're very welcome'' she smirked at her, leaning away from the door and opening it for her.
They walked into school side by side, people stared. Nancy distanced herself from Robin as they made their way through the crowded corridors. Robin's heart sunk as she noticed herself drop behind Nancy. Her hopes were sky high from the great weekend they had spent together, Steve teased her when he drove her to school that morning.
Nancy's head turned round to find Robin hidden amongst the crowd, her eyes scanned the hallway. Her heart dropping when her eyes didn't meet hers. Deciding to see if she could catch her later, Nancy headed towards the newspaper room.
As the day flew past, neither of the girls saw each other. Rumours ran through the school quicker than a fly, people were gossiping about seeing them enter school together. Suspicions about being more than friends was on everyone's lips. When Nancy caught wind of the news, she felt sick. Her stomach seized up and she was sent to the nurses office, sitting there with the bright glaring lights and the strong smell of anaesthetic. She vomited all over the nurse, forcing her to bed sent home.
There was no stopping Nancy as she rushed home. Locking herself inside her room, ignoring her mom and throwing herself into her bed.
Robin was full of nerves as she stood on the doorstep of Nancy's house holding a small bouquet of white flowers. Not having the courage to knock when Mike pushed past rudely.
''Are you going to knock or just stand there in the way.'' He turned to look at her as he opened the front door. Shooting her an unwelcoming look, still holding the door open for her. She accepted the unpolite invitation.
Karen saw Robin standing awkwardly in the hallway, greeting her instantly. Remembering her from Family video and instructed her that Nancy had been upstairs all day.
Robin thanked her and cautiously walked upstairs, the flowers were bending slightly from her tight grasp. Standing on the landing outside her door, she raised her hand up to knock. Steadying herself before she knocked loudly. Nancy took a moment to answer, groaning noises were heard from inside.
She opened the door, her hair was a mess. She was wearing mismatched pyjamas, her makeup was a mess and the sight of Robin made her feel sick. Her face went white as her bedsheets, rushing past and slamming the bathroom door. Robin winced at the sounds of Nancy in the bathroom. Once ready, Nancy stood staring at her in the doorway, examining her from afar.
''Uh, I got you these. I heard you weren't well in school and well, wanted to check on you'' Robin nervously spoke, smiling and extending her arms out to Nancy.
''Oh, thank you. I have a vase inside my room. Want to come in'' Nancy's voice was raspy and raw. Robin followed her inside her dark bedroom.
Taking the flowers off her, she placed them in an empty vase on her desk. Inviting her to sit down on her bed, she switched on the light beside her. They sat there awkwardly for a few moments until one of them spoke.
''I heard what they were saying at school, I hope you're okay'' Robin sounded worried as she moved closer to Nancy.
''I just think it's horrible to make up such lies about people. We are only friends'' Nancy's voice broke as she spoke, tears began to fall down her cheeks. Her head in her hands, Robin had moved and was sitting beside her with their backs to her head board.
''Hey, it's okay. I wouldn't worry about things people have said like that'' her voice was calm and soft as she rubbed Nancy's back. In the poorly lit room, Nancy lifted her head to look at her. Her eyes all red, her face all puffy and as she leant closer to Robin. She felt the desire to kiss her.
When their lips met, it felt like heaven. Their hands grasping onto every bit of skin they could find, Nancy was quickly on top of Robin. Tears still falling down her face, her legs entwined with hers, gasping for air. Nancy rested her forehead on Robin's staring down at her with lust as she softly grinded against, soft moans escaped Robin's mouth as they kissed again.
In these moments, Nancy didn't care about the rumors. Her hands were exploring Robin's body, tugging at her clothes and kissing her bare skin. Watching her as she moaned beneath her, she enjoyed it. The nerves crept up on her as Robin pushed her onto her back, staring at her before kissing her. They were both lying there in their underwear now, kissing each other softly. Nancy adored how her lips felt, so soft and gentle. The sensation when she kissed her neck, her whole body tingled as her lips travelled down. Reaching her inner thighs, she nibbled on the skin Nancy's back was arched and her hands were tangled into Robin's hair.
She kissed the top of her underwear, watching her squirm as she felt how wet she was. Robin groaned into her thighs, lightly brushing her underwear. Her eyes fixated on Nancy, whose hands were gripping tightly onto the few strands of hair she could manage.
Just friends? Robin thought. I'll show you.
Robin's teeth pulled off Nancy's underwear revealing her bare pussy, feeling her shiver beneath her as her fingers trailed up from her inner thighs. The goose bumps suddenly appearing on her skin before she used one finger to brush her clit, the noise that came out of Nancy's mouth excited Robin. She reached up and covered her mouth with her hand and she moved closer to her clit, softly licking her clit. Nancy moans were muffed by her hand tightly grasping her mouth, Robin's tongue was moving quicker as she felt her hips buck beneath her. Her back was arched more, her eyes were filled with pleasure as she rode against her tongue.
Robin's spare hand began playing with her opening, softly inserting one finger inside her and watched her groan louder into her hand. Smirking at the sight of Nancy Wheeler moaning for her, her nerves had subsided as she curled her finger deeper inside her wet pussy. Feeling her getting wetter around her, playing with her second finger before inserting it inside her. Nancy gasped at the feeling, her eyes rolling back as Robin increased her speed.
The bed was rocking hard against the floor as Robin didn't stop, Nancy was riding her face quicker and quicker with stroke of her fingers. The muffled moans, her hands were no longer gripping onto Robin's hair but tightly onto the bed covers as her hips bucked hard against her tongue. As she felt Nancy's clit get bigger, ready to climax she increased her speed. Watching as Nancy's eyes rolled back, her body shaking as she let herself go into her climax, Robin's fingers moving quickly. She came hard, squirting all over Robin's face, fingers and completely covering her bed. Robin didn't stop until Nancy had came two more times, almost begging for her to stop. Looking at her with pleading eyes, moaning her name.
Robin removed her fingers from inside her and licked them, maintaining eye contact with Nancy as she tasted her cum. Smirking at her, before kissing up her body, the soft shakes at the sensation Nancy whimpered exhaustedly. Robin's lips reached hers, melting into the kiss. Nancy gripped onto her face not letting her pull away for a while before collapsing onto the bed next to her.
''Holy crap'' was all Nancy could say, still breathless. Robin was still smirking, staring up at the ceiling.
They looked at each other and laughed, neither of them could believe it just happened. Robin was ecstatic, she was sure that Nancy liked girls.
Nancy got back into her pyjamas and turned on her stereo, letting whatever music play through the speakers. Her and Robin sat on the bed and talked for a while, Nancy was more confused than ever. Every glance that Robin could steal, her heart fluttered. She had grown very fond of her, she made her laugh often.
Their heads rested against each other’s as they got comfortable on Nancy’s bed, tired of talking. They closed their eyes, their hands touching as they drifted of to sleep.
Over the next week, Nancy grew busier with the newspaper and school. Leaving her with less time to see Robin but more time to think about her. The confused feelings scrambled her brain as she stared at the photocopier, they hadn’t spoke since that day at her house. It replayed in her mind constantly, wondering if Robin thought of it to.
She knew that she needed to see her, as the school bell rang notifying everyone that the school day was over. Nancy rushed out into the car park, where she saw Robin walking over to meet Steve. Running towards Robin, she pushed into her hard making her jump out her skin. Watching her expressions change as she noticed it was her, breaking into a smile.
“I’ll drive you home, I need to speak to you” Nancy panted, still catching her breath. Robin stared at her, blinking intently before rushing over to Steve.
Watching as they engaged in a heated conversation, Steve drove off within seconds and Robin rushed back to where Nancy was standing.
They walked to the quieter part of the car park, sitting down on the pavement. Robin looked at her, waiting for her to say something. She hasn’t heard from her in days, anxious to speak to her. The wind was blowing their hair rapidly.
“So, I’ve been thinking. Remember I told you that you are the first girl I’ve been with, well that’s true. And I don’t know if I’m completely into girls but I know I’m into you. I think about you in every waking moment and when I’m not awake I’m dreaming about you. I’m crazy about you Robin. I’m willing to try if you are” her words came out quick and mumbled.
Turning to look at Robin, a smile appeared on her face. Robin was stunned, she had never had a girl properly like her before. Especially not Nancy Wheeler.
Her heart skipped, she could only laugh as she replayed her words in her head.
“For you, I would do anything”

RONANCE BAND AU PT3??
After a long conversation with Steve, who's on the last few stops of his boyfriend's tour, Robin's gotten some relief about her situation. She's currently cuddled up on the couch, having swallowed herself up in blankets, binge watching Adventure Time feeling quite pleased with her life.
She's so focused on the way Marceline resembles Nancy on stage, that she doesn't notice Nancy watching her with adoration from the doorway of their apartment. She had gone solo to her activities that day, since Robin claimed she felt ill, and she had felt miserable without the blonde.
"You and Steve remind me of Finn and Jake."
Nancy laughed at the startled yelp that came out of Robin, who was weaponizing the TV remote. Once she got her mind back and Nancy had settled in beside her, she let out a chuckle. "I agree with that."
The weakness from the day was catching up with Nancy as she fell onto Robin's side, settling into peace. Robin naturally put her arm around Nancy and found herself running her fingers through the dark curls. She too felt peace in place of her usual panic and she smiled as she watched Nancy yawn.
"We're like the princess and the vampire." The words were mumbled into Robin's side and then Nancy was officially asleep.
The blonde hummed in response before the words had caught up to her brain. The realization hit her and she felt her face heat. Did Nancy know what she was implying? Or was she just making an observation about the characters traits and actions?
Robin stole another glance at the sleeping woman she held in her arms and decided she didn't care. She loved Nancy, and as Steve had reassured her, Nancy loved her too even if just as a friend. And Robin was content with that.
~
Nancy had been struggling to come up with a way to privately discuss her feelings with Robin, but it was impossible when everybody wanted to interview her or have her perform on their show. Plus Robin was already stretched thin trying to schedule all of these things, while also making sure Nancy wasn't getting too overwhelmed.
The tables had just been leveled, but the more impatient and stressed Nancy got the more tension was placed between them again. Only this time it was Nancy's fault, causing her more stress.
Robin wasn't blind to this and every chance she got, she'd check in on Nancy, offer to get her some food or water, ask if she needed a hug or somewhere quiet to rest. She was trying her best to relieve Nancy's stress that she didn't realize she was also causing it.
During one of these checkups, Robin came into Nancy's dressing room to find her crying. She immediately rushed to her side, pulling her face into her hands to wipe her tears, and quietly asked what happened. When she had left Nancy to get ready, it had given the singer too much time with her thoughts and that had gone south pretty quickly.
"Nance, it's okay. I'm here, I'm right here."
Robin tried to pull the sobbing girl in for a hug, but was pushed away rather roughly. Confusion flooded her face, as Nancy stood up furiously wiping away her tears. The blonde opened her mouth to speak, but Nancy held up a tight hand, "Don't, Robin, please."
"Nance-"
The brunette pushed past the stunned blonde as she trembled for breathe, "I just- I need, Steve."
With that Nancy was gone and Robin was left with the most vicious feeling of hate and jealousy. Bile rose up in her throat as her stomach twisted at her thoughts. Of course she would want Steve. Of course she would need him.
Robin stubbornly tried to shake away her spiraling thoughts, but she caught sight of her reflection in the mirror and screamed. Her voice sounded wretched and she could hardly breathe as tears filled her eyes. She stormed out of the room, past the worried eyes of on lookers, and went outside to the car parked in her reserved space. 'Nancy can find another ride', she thought as she drove away. Once she got into the apartment she promptly locked herself in her room, throwing her phone against the wall in agony.
She sobbed and screamed until her throat hurt and eventually fell asleep, her heart having been broken into pieces.

i need yall ronance shippers who like a bit of Ouch to hear me out. nancy falling for robin and thinking she is queer but not being able to ask because you know... the times. nancy quietly yearning while having to not let anyone find out, and growing steadily closer to robin. eventually, robin carefully comes out to nancy but nancy is so unprepared so she just acts supportive. robin feels something is off but cannot place it so she brushes off the feeling. later on nancy starts to catch on to robin staring at and talking about vickie or some girl and nancys heart breaks just a little because she sees it. and then robin has a girlfriend and it is not nancy. and nancy wheeler cries herself to sleep. ((or maybe she doesnt even realize how in love with robin shes been until robin gets a gf but that's not this post)) and nancy doesnt know what to do so she just watches and sees robin fall for this other girl but no it should be nancy. no one sees it, no one - but if anyone does its steve - and nancy is just quietly wrecked so she throws herself into her work and and and unrequited ronance but not how you might expect

— pairings: robin buckley x nancy wheeler; johnathan byers x nancy wheeler (mentioned)
— a.n.: hope you like it! i tried to keep it short but i couldn't (and i'll probably write a second part)
— warnings: angst angst angst
Robin was driving her crazy. She's been driving her crazy for days now.
Nancy couldn't make anything out of the words that left her lips that night, the moment playing on her head again and again, searching for something, a clue, anything, that would make all that easier for the both of them.
The older Wheeler was a firm believer that things didn't just happen. Everything had a reason, even if it was the most unbelievable one. That one must have had one too. She just needed to find it.
It was a slow tuesday night when it happened, Robin sat on the Family video counter as she sorted through the tapes with surprising attention. She barely heard when the bell above the door rang, announcing a new client.
And then Nancy came in, and Robin couldn't take her eyes off the Wheeler.
"H-Hey" She greeted, wondering internally why did her voice sounded like that. So nervous, so unnatural, that Nancy must have noticed something was wrong with her. She cursed herself mentally.
"Hey Robin" Of course she have noticed it. But she put on her best smile, and ignored it altogether. For an aspiring reporter, it was surprising how good she had become at ignoring things.
"Uhm... Need anything?" Robin asked, jumping off the counter, leaving her task unfinished behind her. "Some new tapes just arrived, and-"
"No, I- I thought I'd come by and see you."
There was it, that frickin' smile again. Robin would do anything to wipe it off her face.
"Oh... Yeah, uhm, it's just me, Steve had to run somewhere, but our shift is almost ending anyway, so I didn't mind it at all." God, why couldn't her just shut up?
Nancy chuckled, walking around the empty store, the sound of her nails against the case of the tapes filling the room.
"He left you all alone, how rude of him." She joked. Robin could have been just as well imagining things to kill the time, but she could swear the tone in Nancy's voice had something else in it. A hidden flirting, her voice dripping honey as she smiled to her.
"So rude" She played along. "Look, it's already five, my shift is officially over!" Robin smiled, walking to the counter to take off a pair of keys of a drawer.
"Oh, okay... Walk with me?"
"Sure, Nance." She nodded, swallowing nervously.
By the time the reached the street of Nancy's house, it was already dark. Robin began to walk a little slower, extending the time they had together, but if Nancy noticed, she didn't say a thing.
"... And, I mean, that is so preposterous!" Nancy had spend the last twenty minutes ranting about some matter with long words Robin had little idea of what they meant. No, the caramel haired girl was too distracted to pay that complain any mind, her eyes locked in her lips, occasionally nodding along with the other's words.
"Nance?" She interrupted, the uncertainty on her voice only expressing a piece of the one in her mind. Nancy looked at her confused as she stopped in place. "Shit, I'm sorry, I... I really thought I could wait, or burry that emotion, but I can't. I like you a lot, Nancy Wheeler. Like a whole damn lot. And when you appeared in the store I- I couldn't take my eyes off you and I couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to kiss you, but- I know you have a boyfriend, and I'm not trying to break you two apart, but I cannot live with this feeling buried inside of me for any longer than-"
She abruptly stopped. The look on Nancy's eyes terrified her. Maybe she had messed things up. Maybe she should have kept it shut, but she was never good at it.
"Robin..." She began, the kindest of smiles curling on her lips. "I- I am honoured, truly, but... You said it yourself, I have a boyfriend and-"
Robin looked like her heart was just shattered on a thousand pieces. Nancy didn't have on her to keep going.
"No, no, it's okay!" She assured, the half smile on her face only as convincing as her words. "Hundred per cent okay, Nancy. I-" She took a step back, suddenly aware of how close they have gotten. "Sorry... I'm sorry, have a good night, yeah?"
Just like that, she was gone. And Nancy never felt more lost.

Could I ask for 😤 : A jealousy headcanon and Ronance please
Robin knew that dating Nancy was going to come with some difficulties, but what gets to her the most is when her jealousy of Steve rears its ugly head again.
They all know that Steve and Nancy are no longer a good fit for each other - perhaps they never were - and they’re all dealing with the awkwardness that comes when your best friend dates your ex, but Robin expected the jealousy to be from the other direction. Not from her.
She was somewhat prepared to deal with the possible arguments and silent treatment if Steve felt that was the best course of action, but she doesn’t know what to do when she’s the one who can’t be in the same room with him if Nancy is around. And yet she feels like she has to be there in case - in case what? In case Steve decides to pour his heart out again for the girl she is dating?
It’s weird.
It’s really freaking weird.
She’s jealous and paranoid and angry.
Angry at Steve, angry at herself, angry at the past Steve and Nancy who had a messed up break up that makes all of this harder than it needs to be.
And the guilty creeps up alongside it all, ready to eat away at her insecurities because, yeah, she’s a terrible friend and she’s just all sorts of messed up, and Steve and Nancy deserve to be happy away from her.
A part of her knows that they’ll get through this weirdness - that she’ll wake up one day and Nancy will be looking at her and there won’t be even a tiny bit of jealousy that grips her chest and makes it hard to breathe around her best friend - but it’s going to be one hell of a summer.

Tumblr media
when robin first saw her standing in the doorway, her heart dropped. not because she wasn't happy to see her because, god she was, but because it felt like seeing a ghost. a person from her past she would've never expected. especially not now, in the middle of a rainy july night she had planned on spending all alone on her couch.
nancy wheeler doesn't look like a ghost though, she looks so very real. her hair has grown much longer than robin has ever seen it and her face has changed too. she seems so much older but in all the right ways. in the ways, robin knows from whenever she looks in the mirror herself. they aren't kids anymore though that's just about how long it must have been since she last saw her.
she is dripping, summer rain drenching her clothes and soaking her hair. she's got her arms wrapped around herself, light blue eyes widened in surprise as if she wasn't expecting robin to actually open the door. strange, robin thinks, considering that she quite literally came to her apartment. but any of this, any thoughts and doubts vanish the second nancy speaks. it's just one word, but hearing the sound of her voice again is enough for her to feel an odd sense of comfort.
"robin-" she says, her facial expression something robin can't wrap her head around. she has half a smile on her lips and yet her eyes betray her. they're somehow scared as if she fears robin would send her away again. they hold a bit of surprise too that probably comes from the fact that this is her first time seeing robin too.
and just like that she stands there, in the hallway of robin's house, leaving a trail of waterdrops behind and smiling in a way that immediately captures the other woman's heart, even after years that have passed. as if she was never truly gone.
"nance..." robin mumbles, her raspy voice cracking when the nickname falls from her lips. "what- god what are you going here? i mean- i- god" she shakes head and steps all the way out of her apartment and into nancy's space. she can't even help herself but wrap her arms around the other girl's body and pull her into a hug. she can hear her gasps and loosens her hug for just a second, afraid that she has made a mistake, but nancy holds her in place and returns the hug with a soft "oh".
she can feel her wet clothes soaking the fabric of her own but she doesn't care. she doesn't care about anything but the fact that nancy is here, with her.
"oh my god" she mumbles and leans back, palms still holding her by the shoulders to look at her from up close "oh my god".
nancy chuckles, her smile spreading across her whole face. she seems relieved.
"you should-" she turns around to give a quick glance into her apartment. thank god she chose to clean up earlier. "you should come inside" ──────────────────
robin's couch bounces slightly under their weight as both women drop down onto it: nancy wearing a skirt and blouse that haven't gotten as wet due to her coat and robin with a bottle of wine and two glasses that she fills up for them.
she isn't sure when or why she has gotten this bottle, considering that she was never really a wine type of woman. but this seems like the right occasion or a least she hopes so.
it's not like she never really knew much about that either. she feels unusually exposed like this, well aware of nancy's eyes on her as she hands her the glass.
"so.." robin finally finds her voice "what brings you here?"
nancy takes a sip from her glass before she answers and robin's eyes immediately fall upon her jaw and the way it moves as she swallows the liquid. she drags her eyes away from it when nancy puts the glass down.
"steve gave me the address" she begins. "i was in town and...i didn't know where else to go"
"hold on" robin furrows her brows. "why are you in town?"
nancy inhales slowly. "i mean...i wanted to see you...i think...i- i kept thinking about you and i didn't have anything else to do"
robin wants to be surprised, wants to ask a million questions but how could she when nancy said that she wanted to see her ? that she kept thinking about her ? these words have her heart racing in her chest in excitement. the kind of excitement that reminds her of her youth and of all the times she had spent loving nancy. from afar at first and then from up close too, though no one ever knew about that.
it was their little secret, the one thing they had and shared in times when everything else had been ripped from them.
it was not what they should have done, robin knows that and she knows nancy knows too. it was tragic and heartbreaking and yet it was beautiful for as long as it lasted. and then, from one day to the other, it had all been gone.
"how long has it been?" nancy asks and tilts her head.
she looks beautiful like this, robin thinks, with her knees drawn to her body while she has an arm propped up up the armrest. she looks older, too; her hair has grown longer and her eyes seem to be less...tired? or exhausted, maybe?
either way, robin knows what must've caused this; the sleepless nights that followed the events of 1986 had left a mark on all of them. that seems to be gone now, though. or at least a lot less present.
robin wonders if nancy still falls asleep to the sound of jonathan's breathing. if they're still as strong as they were at 18. but she can't bring herself to ask that. she can't bare to hear the truth about the nights they had spent together back then.
although she can imagine it perfectly fine: "we were children robin" nancy would say, nipping on her glass of wine occasionally. "we didn't know what we were doing. it meant nothing". only the voice of imaginary nancy in her head makes her heart drop. it didn't mean nothing to her. of course not.
but nancy had jonathan, chose jonathan. even after the nights they had spent nuzzled up against one another beneath the weight of the blanket, telling stories about the things they would do once all of this would be over.
years have passed ever since. years of occasional calls, questions about life but always avoiding those topics. years of telling each other they would meet again soon and somehow they never did. robin wonders what changed.
"i'm not sure i want to know, actually" robin chuckles. "too long, that's for sure" "yeah" nancy nods, her gaze lingering on the coffee table absentmindedly for a split second. "too long"
she turns the wine glass in her hands before she finally speaks: "so, robin buckley" her head turns to look at her, her deep blue eyes sending shivers down robin's spine.
"how have you been here?"
"oh you know-" robin shrugs. "getting around...i have a pretty solid job, an apartment i like..."
"is-" nancy cuts herself off for a second, as if she's reconsidering her words, before she does speak "is there anyone?"
"oh" she blushes slightly, praying that it is dark enough to conceal the soft shade of red of her cheeks. "no...i mean, i guess there have been women but...it never felt right"
never felt right with anyone but you, is what robin means to say. she wants to scream it, at the top of her lungs, like she should've done when nancy left hawkins. maybe if she would've done so, things would be different now.
"what about you?" she asks instead, chewing the insides of her cheeks nervously.
the sight of this makes nancy chuckle to herself; years have gone by and this is still robin. all grown up now, long curls held out of her face with a hair claw so that her freckled skin is on full display. but it's still her: the tall girl who reached for her hand in the upside down, who held her when no one else did, who put bandages to the wound that have scarred now but are still a permanent reminder of who they are. who had always been so unapologetically herself.
"it's...difficult" she answers, drowning the last bits of wine in one gulp to give her the strength to go on. "jonathan and i we- well we were engaged as you know-"
the words are enough for her to internally flinch. she does know. she remembers the day she got the letter, inviting her to their 'engagement party' in big, loopy letters. it all seemed so final then. not like it hadn't already felt final before, but this seemed to be it.
"yeah" she nods.
"but that kind of...didn't work as we had planned" nancy looks down at her hands, at the spot where the engagement ring used to sit -tying her to a person whom she could never love the way he deserved it.
robin's gaze follows her, eyes widening slightly when she finds the spot empty. "what happened?"
"i don't think our visions of a future matched the way we thought they would. he had all those dreams and...i knew i couldn't give him that"
she nods along to her words softly.
"when did you...?"
"it's been a little while" nancy explains and puts the glass on the coffee table. "it's fine we don't- let's not talk about him right now okay?"
she knows robin deserves the truth. probably the most out of all people. but nancy is also well aware that this truth, her truth, could ruin them more than life already has. and she isn't ready to lose robin.
"of course, of course" robin agrees. "whatever you prefer it's just..."
she reaches out softly and ever so slowly until her hand reaches nancy's. their fingers link in an instant and for a split second, they're in the upside down again, darkness all around while creatures of terror are screeching in the distance. they're both 18 once more, secretly head over heels for the other while knowing they could not be.
just like all these years ago, skin meets skin and all the worries in this world become white noise to their feelings.
nancy blinks and her eyes find robin's. they're 26 again, in a beautiful apartment that is more robin than anything imaginable. times have changed, they have too.
"you got this" she whispers, just like nancy once did. "and even if you don't, i got you"
a soft smile creeps upon her features, softening the sharp edges of her face that she never grew out of. robin is happy she didn't. she has always been the most beautiful woman robin has ever laid her eyes on and yet mid-20s look good on nancy, probably even better than 18.
"maybe i should have stayed" nancy mumbles. "robin did i...did i make the wrong choice?"
she clears her throat, slightly taken aback by the answer. her younger-self would have yelled now. she would have yelled and screamed and cried about how she did make the wrong choice and how she broke her heart by leaving.
but she has grown.
nancy hadn't been ready, unlike herself. it had been unfair, but that's the way it was then. robin had sworn herself she wouldn't waste her time waiting for a woman that had chosen her own way.
now she knows that she has waited all along.
"you didn't, you- you weren't ready nancy" she explains. "this couldn't have worked like this"
nancy tilts her head and gives her a look that tells her just how thankful she is. she also leans in a lot closer than she did before. but maybe robin is imagining that part.
"is there still time...?" she breathes. oh she's definitely not imagining that. she can feel nancy's breath on her face. "can i- god, please let me fix this"
and then she closes the little distance that is left between them.
her lips feel softer than they did back then. she must've dropped the anxious habit of chewing on them. but robin doesn't care about that right now, and pushes the thought away for another time.because nancy, her nancy, is kissing her again.
it's been years of longing for the taste of those lips and yet robin remembers. robin remembers everything.
they still feel like flying on clouds and taste like the summer of '86. their mouths meet softly at first, testing long-forgotten waters. they're a long series of pressing carefully and giving in for the silent plead. that's until nancy's part slightly and robin can't help but follow suit immediately.
nancy allows robin to take control over the kiss, unlike she had done back when they first kiss.
the sensation of tongues sliding against each other has her head spinning too much to remain in control over anything.
robin wastes no time in pulling them up, her lips never leaving nancy's as they move through the apartment in a haze.
"h-how do you- i mean- is this-" robin curses herself for this damn rambling that comes up at the most inconvenient of all times. the other woman doesn't mind though. she just smiles.
"your bedroom, robin" she whispers.
"oh, yeah...yeah right" robin says, biting her lip.
that same smile is still plastered over nancy's face when she mumbles a sweet invitation of "come here" and wraps her arms around her again.
they stumble down the hallway of the apartment, occasionally walking against corners and walls without breaking their kiss. there is a trail of clothing following them on the wooden floor, a sweater, a blouse, and a tank top lining up until where they're standing. nancy chuckles against her lips as the taller woman struggles to find the doorknob behind her, all while she is getting pressed against it by her. once she figures it out, robin wastes no time in pulling nancy inside. suddenly very self-conscious, she stands in front of her, finally allowing robin to take in the beautiful sight in front of her.
she is standing right in front of robin the woman who she loved all these years ago. who she still loves, if she's being honest. but this is probably not the time for this conversation, nancy decides. not when she's wearing nothing but a lacy bra and her jeans still, just waiting for robin to undress her.
"you're- you're so beautiful, nancy" robin whispers, her eyes glued to her body. there's no shame in her shameless gaping. for the first time, she can actually do so without feeling utterly ashamed. and she's making some good use of that. blush creeps up her chest and robin's lips curl into a smile.
"you're beautiful too" nancy returns and steps into her space. robin is wearing a rather decent, black bra, but god it looks good. she reaches out, her palm meeting robin's upper arm just beneath her shoulder. neither of them speaks, heavy breathing the only proper noise they can manage as she runs her hand upwards softly. over the outstanding collarbones, the hundreds of freckles she has counted more times than she cares to admit, over the soft flesh of her pulse point, until her fingers wrap around the back of her neck.
robin has moved her hands down to settle on nancy's waist and, just like that, she pulls her in. they lean in slowly, slower than they've ever done it before. seizing every second they can get of this.
it is nancy who eventually closes the distance by pulling robin towards her with her hand on her neck.
their moths meet parted, hot breaths past each other's lips while they press their foreheads together.
"i want you" nancy mumbles and is rewarded by robin's mouth pressing against hers. their tongues slide together within seconds. they move together softly at first, taking their time to explore each other's mouths. but when robin sucks nancy's bottom lip into her mouth and nancy audibly gasps at the feeling, the last bits of remaining ice is broken.
this is also all it takes for the kisses to reach new heights, hands roaming freely while they're still hooked to the other's lips. eventually, though, robin breaks the kiss. nancy is about to complain, at least that's until robin's lips attach to her neck and her parted lips -prepared to let out a complaint- open wider to let out a sinful gasp, followed by "oh Robin".
her mouth is doing some absolute magic work on her neck that has her legs shaking and leaves her with no other choice but to hold on to the back of her head and pray that she won't stop anytime soon. robin isn't planning on stopping, of course. this, the feeling of nancy's fingers curling up in her hair, her racing pulse beneath her lips, her soft moans like fuel to the fire that's burning within her, it's all so much. it's pure bliss. it's not nearly enough.
as her tongue licks a long stripe up nancy's neck, her fingers find her nipples through the thin lace of her bra. nancy mumbles some incoherent words of how she needs it off of her but robin gets the hint and reaches around her body, unclasps it with surprising ease that has nancy wondering just how many women robin has been with since her, and let's gravity do the rest of the work as it drops to the floor.
nancy's eyes meet hers and she feels almost shy now, with robin still in her underwear while she has been stripped out of her own. that can be changed though, she realizes, and steps forward to get robin into an equal state of undressing.
robin chuckles to see how eager nancy seems to be to ger her naked but doesn't mind one bit. she guides the other woman to the bed, where she sits down on the edge of the mattress before pulling nancy onto her lap.
her fingers run over her cheeks, cupping her face in her soft hands while she looks down at her through the dim light.
"i missed this" she whispers quietly, so quietly robin isn't even sure she was supposed to hear it. her voice is layered with so many emotions but nancy wheeler is not gonna get emotional about sex. yet the image of robin is enough for her to start crying if she just focused on that for long enough. "i missed you".
"i missed you too, nance" robin replies. her voice is as raspy as it ever was, like music to nancy's ears.
"please touch me!"
and so she does. she brings her lips to her chest and kisses all over her skin. nancy leans her head back immediately, her eyes fluttering shut at the heavenly sensation of finally having her mouth on her body again. she still has a hand behind her head and guides her softly, giving her a suggestive tug of her hair, closer to her hardened nipples. robin understands within seconds and wraps her lips around them before sucking softly. her eyes meet nancy's as she does so and she is delighted to see that nancy's lips have parted and she is panting at the new feeling.
"oh god...yes!"
her lips begin trailing further downward after a bit more of this, further and further, as far as their current position allows it. at the same time, she has both of her palms on nancy's back to hold her close.
"beautiful" she whispers. "so beautiful...so pretty..."
then, when nancy least expects it, she spins them around so that she has her laying beneath herself. nancy lets out a noise of surprise that turns into sweet laughter once she realizes what robin is up to.
she watches her with curious eyes as the other woman props herself up over her with both of her arms. it gives her just the right amount of space between their bodies to wrap her arms around her body and, with a questioning tilt of her head that robin confirms with a nod, take off her bra too. once she has loosened it, she allows the fabric to slide down her body.
her fingers dance over robin's ribcage faintly, feeling the swell of scars that she carries from the battle in hawkins still. she hopes that each line of her fingerprints might help them heal.
robin's breathing is labored when nancy's hands find her breasts and she gives them both a gentle, careful squeeze.
"holy shit nance-" her voice is richly layered with want for the girl beneath her and carries little cracks with it that shoot right down to nancy's center.
she leans down again, kissing her already swollen lips. she would probably allow nancy to play with her tits for hours -maybe one day she will actually ask her to do so, assuming that this is more than a one-time thing- but she wants her, needs her. nancy sucks on her tongue and robin groans audibly, a noise from deep inside her throat. finally, her lips move downwards again, except that this time their position is not an obstacle for that. she kisses her way down, until she is laying between nancy's legs, her fingers hooked around the waistband of her skirt. she lookes up at her and mumbles "can i?"
"please" nancy nods. "please"
robin pulls down both her underwear and the skirt and brings it all the way down her long legs before throwing it over her shoulder absentmindedly. she keeps looking right into nancy's eyes though, not wanting to make her uncomfortable by gaping at her pussy. nancy wouldn't mind though, if anything, she would greatly appreciate it if robin finally gave her the attention she wants.
she spreads her legs even wider and finally, robin's eyes wander lower. she visibly licks her lips and inhales sharply at the sight in front of her:
nancy is wet. she's so wet and wanting for her.
she fights back the internal urge to press her thighs together, because that would mean robin would probably lean back and that is the last thing she wants. instead, she grabs the back of her head and bucks her hips upwards. robin gets the hint and lets it happen, lets her pull her face into her. she puts her hands to her inner thighs and holds her open as she licks a broad, long stripe through her with the flat of her tongue, before circling her clit with the tip of it.
it seems as if she hasn't forgotten a thing after all this time, as if she still remembers all the spots that have nancy seeing stars. she wraps her lips around her clit after some more licks and sucks gently, immediately earning an arch of nancy's back and a broken moan of her name in response.
she keeps teasing around her clit with her tongue and then occasionally dips down to gather more of her arousal on her tongue to bring it up.
"fuck nancy" she breathes, voice all hoarse. "you taste so fucking good"
nancy only tries to pull robin closer at that. she feels so hungry right now. she wants more, she needs more. nancy doubts she has ever felt this way before. not with Jonathan, definitely not with steve back then. and even the nights she has spent with robin...nothing could compare to what this feels like. back then they had to rush things, had to keep it quiet, had to love each other in utter silence. now she can love her freely, she can let robin love her freely. for the first time she doesn't have the weight of shame on her shoulders.
robin is still sweeping her tongue through her, but she does it slowly. firm and with purpose, but it is obvious that she wants to take her time with this. just like nancy does.
"oh robin..." nancy's eyes have fallen shut, which gives her no warning when robin begins toying a singular finger to her entrance. her eyes fly open at that but before she has time to fully comprehend it, she pushes it inside and she cries out loud. the noise has robin clenching around nothing between her own legs because she can head just how good nancy is feeling because of her.
she pumps it into her a couple of times, attentively watching what nancy seems to like before the woman above her lets out a whiny "more please" and she adds a second one to it. the pushes it into her slowly but nancy takes it all, moaning as she stretches her further.
"oh- oh my god robin- right there fuck" she moans.
robin wastes no time in getting her mouth back on her and syncing the licks of her tongue over her clit with the thrusts of her fingers. "you're so pretty like this" she mumbles against her and the vibration of her voice goes right into nancy's aching cunt. after a couple of minutes of this, of slow thrusts and licking, she starts picking up her pace. she can feel nancy growing slightly impatient; hips rolling with each curl of her fingers and fingernails scratching her scalp in a desperate attempt to have her closer.
she gets a reaction out of her immediately. the volume of her moans increases and she can feel her legs shaking around her head.
"robin- shit robin- i'm- i'm close" nancy gasps, her back arching off the mattress while she rocks her hips forward in quick motions, chasing her orgasm. "please- please robin please"
"shh" robin hushes her and puts a palm to her stomach to ground her back down onto the bed. "don't worry nance, i told you i got you"
and with that, she picks up her pace again, much quicker this time. high pitched moans echo through the room as nancy grabs for robin's other hand that is still sitting on her thigh and holds onto it for dear life as she comes. robin fucks her through it, and allows her to ride her orgasm out on her tongue; she just lays it flatly against her, and nancy does the rest of it.
nancy's moans are louder than she has ever heard them. she sounds so fucking pretty, robin thinks to herself.
eventually, nancy's orgasm has washed over her and she comes down from her height. she is panting, her chest rising and falling while her eyes are still closed and she is leaning back.
"holy shit" she breathes and chuckles, the aftershocks still rippling through her limbs.
"yeah..." robin mumbles, chin and fingers covered in nancy's cum. "holy shit"
"god" nancy opens her arms. she sounds still breathless but her gaze settles firmly on robin. "come here please"
that's all the woman needs to hear. she slowly withdraws her fingers from her, still careful not to accidentally overstimulate her right now. once she has pulled all the way out, she crawls up her body and nancy wraps her arms around her to hold her especially close. she kisses all over her, every part of her head she can reach: her hair, her forehead, her cheeks, her nose. "thank you" she manages in between kisses. "oh thank you robin..."
robin just smiles, allows her to hold onto her as she recovers from her orgasm.
she's not sure what this means yet, not sure what will happen once they finish whatever this is. she knows she wants nancy to stay. not just for the night but for much longer. she knows that letting her go again would be too much for her to bare after she has lost her once before.
so she holds her just a tiny bit closer to her own body, strokes just a little bit more of her skin she can reach, and whispers sweet nothings to her to steady her racing heart. makes use of everything she can get as long as she has it, the fear of nancy leaving slowly creeping into her head.
little does she know that nancy, who is running her fingers through her hair as she enjoys the soft kisses and touches on her skin, has already made up her mind. that for the first time ever, nancy is not afraid to make a choice this fundamental.
nancy knows what she really, truly wants. she knows she wants robin.
and she will show her just how much...

Incoming: Stranger Things fics!
Hey everyone! I’ve been working on some Stranger Things fics for this blog! This blog is mostly X reader fanfic, but I publish all my other fics on AO3!!! I just posted the first chapter of a Ronance fic I’ve been working on - it’s a slow burn, so it’s going to be a long one! There some background Steddie as well, but Ronance is the main ship of this one! I’ll try to post as frequently as I can, but the intro chapter is up right now.
Check it out, and requests for ST fics on this blog are OPEN (I write for Steve, Eddie, Nancy, and Robin!)
