I have this great need for both older Wheeler siblings to be very, very jealous. Jealous Mike is already basically canon, but what if jealous Nancy?
We haven't really seen it with Jancy, since Jonathan seemingly doesn't hang out with or even know a single other girl in the world.
I want Nancy's friendship with Robin to grow and deepen to the point where Nancy secretly dreams of it becoming more, and when Robin finally tells her that she and Vickie are more than friends, I want Nancy to surprise herself by getting insanely jealous.
Nancy's brain is short-circuiting and Robin starts panicking, stammering and trying to explain because she thinks Nancy doesn't approve of her being a lesbian.
Meanwhile, Nancy is trying to appear so normal about it, insisting that it's totally fine and great, that Vickie is....a really great person and it's....really, really great.
Robin is uneasy, thinking Nancy is doing her best to tolerate Robin's truth despite thinking it's gross.
Robin assures Nancy that she doesn't want to make her feel weird, that Nancy doesn't need to worry about Robin hitting on her, since they were friends and nothing was going to change that. Ironically, this makes Nancy angrier.
Nancy's head is spinning and she feels these ugly feelings rising in her chest, to the point where she has to excuse herself or she'll scream.
And all she can think is.....why couldn't it be me?

i don't care how impractical it is... i want steve, eddie, robin and nancy to all live together in a massive house somewhere with land and trees, but still close enough to the city that they don't go stir crazy. i want newly-an-official-couple robin and nancy to be the ones to suggest it with linked hands and matching grins. i want nancy to pull out spreadsheets that prove how it'll be a good way to split rent and get away from the overbearing eyes of hawkins, so they all pack up and move to the outskirts of indianapolis.
i want steve and eddie to start with twin beds in the bedroom not occupied by the lovebirds and then merge those beds into one large one once they figure their shit out. i want early riser nancy to make their breakfasts and learned-to-fend-for-himself eddie to make their dinners. i want chaos when steve and robin go to the grocery store for the first time and come back with half the things they actually need and armfuls of pringles cans. i want them sitting around a beat up kitchen table with socked feet knocking into each other and mismatched wine glasses trying to feel like adults.
i want steve and nancy deciding to get married after they crunched the numbers, saw the tax breaks, thought about the insurance benefits, thought about much easier things would be for all of them in the future if the law was slightly on their side. i want eddie and robin to follow suit because they want an excuse for a bigger party. i want them all falling into their lumpy bumpy couch after their joint weddings before steve runs upstairs to grab his and eddie's suitcase to head out for a mini-honeymoon leaving nancy and robin for one of their own.
years down the line, when hairs are greying and the skin around their eyes start to crinkle, i want there to be kids somehow. i want them to move in to the new build down the road with a more room than they probably need but with enough for their love to grow. i want robin and nancy to move in to the in law suite out back because it's closer to nancy's garden anyway, and expand it to a house of it's own. i want them all to have an open door policy so their kids can grow up side by side with barking and music and kid giggles echoing through the halls.
i want steve in the backyard teaching their crew how to throw a baseball and pressing gentle kisses to their sweaty foreheads to show he's proud of them. i want robin and eddie teaching them how to read music, little legs swinging off their kitchen chairs as they curl their fingers over the neck of too big acoustic guitars. i want nancy taking them on scavenger hunts around the yard, cats weaving between her legs as they use mini-magnifying glasses to observe bugs and leaves.
i want them going to parent teacher conferences in a mass group because, of course, steve charmed the head of the pto to get the kids in all the same classes. i want them to watch as the kids grow up, as they turn into moody teenagers and eventually off to college. i want never-expected-to-grow-old-let-alone-together steve, eddie, nancy and robin to make it a point to have dinner together every night with socked feet knocking into each other but with matching wine glasses this time around.
it's impractical, i know, but man do i want it.

fuck it. ronance wedding headcanons
- they def had an unofficial lil backyard “wedding” with the party back in the 90s. like, jeans and tee shirts and 15 dollar rings and eat hot dogs around a fire pit unofficial
- they kept those cheap ass rings on 24/7, and when they finally rusted and crumbled and were absolutely unwearable they put them in nancy’s ballerina trinket box, the one robin’s still fascinated by after all these years
- when they bought their first house (they move to indianapolis so nancy can work for the star btw, i feel like robin would be some sort of counselor too?), the first thing robin did was take a big ol bulletin board and nail it right to the bedroom wall. for the next twenty years it became their dream board, where they’d pin magazine clippings of suits and dresses, rings and bouquets and venues, dreaming of the day it could be their turn for real
- they have a record player in their kitchen and play cheesy slow music, elvis and frank sinatra typa stuff, while they cook or eat dinner or do work at the counter. every time a song that nancy likes comes on she begs robin to slow dance with her, and she grudgingly agrees every time. and robin fucking sucks. tripping over nothing, not knowing where to look or put her hands, getting flustered at every little move her girlfriend makes. nancy jokes that robin better not be like this during their first dance, and robin grumbles back that she’d rather hire a stunt double than suffer through this (she secretly loves it tho)
- attending weddings is so hard for them. not that they’re not happy for the couples, but because they know they might never get one of their own. when they get. home from max and lucas’ wedding, nancy breaks down in robin’s arms, sobbing that it would be so much easier if she were straight. robin holds her tight and reassures her so gently, and after she calms down they pull out the stack of wedding inspiration books they’ve acquired over the years, put on an old rom-com, settle side by side on the couch and stay up until 3 am gushing over ideas
- in 2015, the moment the announcement comes out that the supreme court legalized gay marriage, nancy speeds home from work, like, 20 miles over the speed limit and finds robin on the front steps, sobbing her eyeballs out, a big dumb grin on her face. nancy gets down on one knee right there on the driveway, not caring that it’s pouring rain and she doesn’t have a ring and and she looks like she just stepped out of the goddamn upside down. robin drops to the ground in front of her and kisses nancy harder than ever before
- nancy wants a traditional wedding. robin wants fun and unique, none of that “old-fashioned bullshit”. they butt heads over it constantly during the planning process, but slowly grow to adore each others’ styles and compromise on every detail
Tumblr media
the invitations ^^^ they have a cute lil spring wedding right before their 50th birthdays😇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
robin’s suit n nancy’s dress ^^^ nance would absolutely be the typa girl to wear karen’s old dress and robin would want the most basic, no frills suit to ever exist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their shoes ^^^ robin can barely stand on her own two feet so heels were out of the question. nancy spent weeks and weeks learning how to embroider just so she could surprise her fiance with cute flowered converse at their bridal shower. robin cried
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their hair ^^^ idk what to caption this with lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their flowers ^^^ ruth n rose colors, Nancy thought it was fucking hilarious when robin suggested it so it stuck. the idea of robin in a boutonniere makes me drool too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the ceremony n reception ^^^ nance wanted to get married in a big white church like she saw in movies when she was a little girl, robin wanted someplace quaint and cozy to spend the night surrounded by her best friends. worked out perfectly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their rings ^^^ adorbs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the cake^^^ robin would 100% take nancy's last name bc she worships her wife and fuck stereotypes
Tumblr media
^^^ i like to think steve jokingly suggests they serve ice cream, a lil nod to their scoops days, not expecting robin to adore the idea and immediately write it down
Tumblr media
best men steve and jonathan ^^^ they wouldn't have bridesmaids cuz what other women do they need in their lives tbh👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩
other stuff:
-being apart for like 3 hours while they get ready is torture. before the ceremony they do that first look thingy where they're standing back to back on opposite sides of a wall and they're holding hands and they're so nervous and giggly and then they do a countdown and peek around and both of them just stand there in shock. like they just watched the sky open up and an angel fall to earth. and then nance throws her arms around robin's neck and they start bawling cuz they realize their 20-plus-year dream is coming true UGH. when they step back robin runs a finger through nancy's curls and whispers how she's as beautiful as the first time she laid eyes on her and nancy melts
-they walk down the aisle hand in hand, exchange long sappy handwritten vows, and fall so perfectly into place when they kiss. it's like a scene from a disney movie. not dry eye in the damn building
-at the reception, there's lil charcuterie boards at each table, and they serve wood-fired pizza cuz it's what they ate on their first date (plus it's robin's fave)
-steve and jonathan bring the HOUSE down with their best men speeches. steve's is full of embarrassing jokes about robin that make her face turn red, and when he brings up how she peed her pants in the russian lab she jokingly (kinda) threatens to slit his throat. jonathan's is so sweet and tender and you can tell he still loves nance so so much
-after the speeches robin excuses herself outside and comes back 5 minutes later with a guitar. she plays a song she wrote for nancy. it's generous heart. because maya is robin in this world and doesn't exist and tbh i don't care. it's incredible
-their first dance song is first day of my life by bright eyes
-i hate ted and idk anything aboutt robin's dad so they don't get dances whoops
-nancy cuts the cake because robin with knives is a death wish
-the ice cream cart is a huge hit (steve brags about it for years). robin's a chocolate girl and nancy's a lemon sorbet lover
-they drink champagne and dance to 80s music until the ceiling spins. around midnight nancy grabs robin's hand and pulls her through the crowd to the balcony. they sway there together under the stars, foreheads pressed together, pressing an occasional kiss to the other's cheek. in that moment, they both agree nothing on their dream board could be as good as this
Tumblr media
-ALSO instead of a honeymoon they take a road trip, driving route 66 to california, stopping to take pictures at every little landmark and singing at the top of their lungs for hours💘

i personally don’t think robin in a modern au would ACTUALLY listen to girl in red’s music simply because she didn’t vibe with the sound… nancy on the other hand would follow girl in red on spotify and have her instagram notifications on

au where nancy is a bartender and robin is her regular costumer who rants to nancy after her dates because ever since steve got together with eddie he keeps setting robin up with every girl he thinks is perfect for her.
nancy, who gives robin free drinks, is secretly taking note of the dates robin liked and didnt so she’ll be able to plan the perfect date for when she finally ask her out.

nancy and robin are very handholdy…partly to keep robin from wandering off, partly to keep nancy anchored to reality after getting vecna’d, partly because neither wants to let go. they are touchy because they are equally in love and afraid to lose each other

DOMESTIC/FUTURE RONANCE HEADCANONS <33
They’ve had their fair share of apartments; they first moved in together when they went to Emerson, then travelled around Europe, Asia and South America for a little before settling on the outskirts of Indianapolis when Nancy lands a secure job as a reporter (she gets to travel with work from time to time, which she loves)
When they’ve settled Robin becomes a middle-school teacher (she teaches French, Spanish, extra curricular mixed languages lessons and a few music lessons on the side - also helps to run band)
Their apartment in Indianapolis is the first place they actually own together, rather than renting a place or staying at a hostel, so they go crazy painting and decorating with lots of colour
Even though she prefers to sleep in, Robin loves to get up and make Nancy breakfast (sometimes she even brings it to her bed on a tray with a little flower)
They have a small balcony where they grow as many plants as they physically can, plus they have plenty of window box planters. Robin names all of their ‘plant babies’
They know each other’s coffee and tea recipes by heart; Robin likes her chai tea with a little milk and a spoonful of sugar and Nancy likes her coffee with cream and no sugar
Robin runs warm while Nancy runs cold; Nancy snatches us most of the blanket in bed while Robin cuddles up to her or splays like a starfish, letting Nancy rest her head on her chest
Steve bought them a ‘kiss the cook’ apron when they moved in and they use it as an excuse to steal kisses while they cook together
They have a spare room and couch bed for when the kids or friends want to stay over
Their next-door neighbour is a little old lady who bakes stuff for them
Robin gives free music lessons to kids in the apartment block
Nancy still keeps guns / weapons hidden around the house - she even has a handgun stashed under a floorboard in the bathroom
Nancy leaves early for work on weekdays, so Robin doesn’t tend to see her before work; Nancy leaves her notes on her empty pillow like ‘have a lovely day my darling, I love you always - N <3’
Robin’s students love Nancy; Robin always gushes about her partner when prompted by the kids, and even if in the beginning it’s a way for the kids to distract their teacher from giving them work, they begin to love hearing about who they assume is Ms. Buckley’s husband
Robin forgets her lunch one day and Nancy comes into her class and drops it off and gives Robin a kiss goodbye - the kids are shocked but they’re accepting <3
Nancy often falls asleep poring over her work at her desk, and always seems to wake up with a blanket thrown over her and a warm mug of tea or coffee waiting for her
If one of them has a particularly bad nightmare they’ll cozy up on the couch and watch a movie and listen to music
When they moved in, the first thing they got out was a record player that they keep in the kitchen; even when all of their stuff was in boxes, Robin dug out a record and danced with Nancy in the kitchen of their new home. They dance together in the kitchen at least once a week
There’s books strewn about everywhere in their apartment, over flowing bookshelves and scattered on tables, with notes sticking out of them and annotations scribbled on the pages
Robin and Nancy love lazy days in bed every once in a while, cuddling or reading or talking or just existing with each other

Something about Robin taking all her dating advice from Steve and giving Nancy her band jacket cause she doesn’t have a letterman and Nancy still being drowned by it because Robins taller and Robin fells like she’s going to die cause her girlfriend is so cute.

Nancy and Robin move into an apartment in NYC. It’s the late 80s, so they move into a two bedroom to make it look like they’re just roommates, but they know that they’re so much more than that. “Robin’s room” is untouched, they rarely step foot into it and the only time anyone ever uses it is if Steve or any of the kids come to visit. They sleep in “Nancy’s room”, cuddled up under the comforter and relying on each other for body heat, no longer shy about sleeping in the same bed. Their days start and end together, just as it always should be.

i like the idea that nancy cannot cook at fucking all like she just cannot cook while robin somehow always makes a fucking gourmet meal.
like the reason nancy sucks is because she’s too scared of over seasoning or overcooking or doing literally anything wrong in the kitchen. like it gives her extreme anxiety. she actually made plans to either date/marry someone who can cook or depend on eating out for the rest of her life.
and robin gets so bored sometimes she just fuckjng taught herself. like her parents were working late and she was like 11 in the house by herself and they left no food for her and she doesn’t have the money to order out so she just fucking winged it and cooked for herself with whatever’s in the kitchen.
i wanna say like before they started dating nancy somehow ended up saying that she cannot cook to save her life and robin’s like “i’ll teach you! it’s honestly easier than you think! :D” and nancy doesn’t know how to tell robin it’s more likely with the both of them in the kitchen it’s more likely that everything ends up on fire
so they do this thing where they both cook the same dish for the other to try and robins literally trying to get her to let loose in the kitchen and nancy is just so fuckjng worried and robin is like “im not gonna hate you if you put a little bit more pepper than what’s recommended” but nancy is like robin is so nice for lying to my face about this she’s so sweet
so they eat each others food and nancy is like this fucking amazing and robin is just like “nancy you took this off the stove way too early but beside that it’s fine” (she’s slightly lying, but she doesn’t mind teaching nancy how to cook and trust herself with non emergency things) and nancy is barely listening because all she’s thinking is about how great robin is and she’s a great cook???? she’s all like ‘oh if robin was single (because how could robin not be dating someone it’s robin she’s amazing) and if i were a guy i’d propose to her right in this moment’
nancy later realizes that that was not a platonic thought to have about a Very Platonic™ best friend of hers
idk i might put this in the jealous nancy fic (WHICH IM FINISHING THE FIRST CHAPTER OF ISTG ITS JUST THAT DANCE IS A LOT RN)

How (adult) Robin would handle Nancy being pregnant Headcanons (because I need more parent!ronance content)
- Robin would take a long minute to warm up to the idea of having kids
- But Nancy somehow convinces her
- Robin would want absolutely NOTHING to do with being pregnant, nuh-uh, no way
- She would be supportive of Nancy wanting to get pregnant (but also think she’s insane for wanting that because *why* would she willingly want to grow an entire ass human and push it out of a tiny hole in her body???)
- Robin is an absolute wreck for nine months straight
- Like reading a shit ton of pregnancy and baby books and looking up stuff on the internet and then going down huge rabbit holes and spirals about pregnancy complications and death stories and everything that can go wrong and losing her mind
- “Babe I’ve fought supernatural demons I can handle being pregnant for a few months”
- Robin is SO a overprotective of Nancy while she’s pregnant- constantly asking her if she’s okay and always says “you shouldn’t do that” or “you should try this” and spouts off a bunch of facts and statistics of why something is good or bad for her and the baby
- Nancy knows she means well but often loses patience because with the way Robin is worrying, Nancy’s lucky she lets her eat and go to the bathroom by herself
- Robin is fascinated by Nancy’s rapidly growing belly and is so touchy and stares so much
- When the baby starts kicking, Nancy’s worried Robin might get freaked out by it
- But she is SO excited and in awe and giggly about it and asks to feel every single time
- “This is so WEIRD! It’s like there’s a little alien wriggling around inside you!”
- From then on Robin calls the baby “little alien” and Nancy tries to pretend it annoys her but she thinks it’s so dang cute
- When Nancy’s asleep, Robin leans down and rambles to the little person growing inside her wife’s stomach
- Sometimes it’s about hyperfixations and sometimes it’s about weird conspiracy theories and sometimes it’s about how much she loves Nancy
- They don’t do a gender reveal because they think it’s old fashioned bullshit
- Robin and Nancy get into so many arguments about decorating the nursery because Nancy wants a theme but Robin doesn’t
- Robin buys *the* coolest baby clothes and even buys a tiny jean jacket and puts patches on it like hers and is SO proud of it and Nancy absolutely MELTS when she shows it to her
- An endless amount of disagreements about names
- “Robin we are NOT naming our daughter after Ripley from Alien”
- “But it would be so badass 🥺”
