↳ always terrified of not being exciting and new to you– like one day, their appeal will fade. not like they understand what drew you to them in the first place, but they never asked. maybe you're just hanging around for the hell of it. maybe one day, they'll watch you leave and they'll have nothing to convince you to stay

"how many bad jokes will it take? / or awkward quiet times?"

↳ they wonder if they're already losing you slowly. everytime they speak to you, it's like they're trying to compensate for something. begging you to look at them– but not too close,,, just in case you notice how brutally flawed they are, beyond just the quirks you find endearing. maybe one day you'll look too deep into their eyes and you won't like what you see

↳ loving again is the biggest risk anyone who's been hurt like them could take. you make it worth the danger– the possibility of the pain they've grown all too familiar with. maybe for today, caution can be set aside. when it comes to you, they wouldn't mind letting their guard down.

↳ they have to admit their past has burdened them in ways they can't even begin to communicate. they know you can't fix everything that has been broken in their lives. still, the comfort you provide is never taken for granted. you are their safe space– the soft sound from another planet. their quiet place to finally lay it all to rest. and suddenly, the aching in their chest doesn't eat them up inside as much as it used to.

you make it easy to love again.

↳ it's hard to believe that you're more than just a distant fantasy sometimes. they can't deny how much they've yearned for a love like the one you two share. something so sweet, so real. it's nothing like the movies or the fairytales, but is anything ever? even when things are messy and complicated, it's undeniable how perfect it all feels. how everything about the two of you just fits. they're inclined to thank every shooting star they've ever wished on, every birthday candle they've ever held their deepest desires in as they blew the flame out for the day you two met. by any manner of higher power or forces unseen to the human eye, they're certain fate was on their side to give them such a blessing.

↳ they're determined to hold on as long as possible. all good things cannot last– but they try not to dwell on that thought. they hold onto the hope that you're the one thing that will stay. your love feels divine. radiant, in the way it overtakes them fully. they almost feel undeserving. so, no matter how small or how grand the action, they try to remind you every day, "i love you"s woven into their every being whenever you're around.

↳ sometimes they feel you holding back. they can't help but notice the tension in the room as you suppress the things you want to say, silence the thoughts in your head. they know it's not easy to be earnest all the time. but they love you– they care for you. and all they've ever wanted is for you to be authentic. if it's pure, how could it ever be wrong? maybe in your own time, you'll be able to unravel in front of them. they're by your side every step of the way. to finally have you open up to them– to be real, to be honest– it would mean the world to them. they want to show you they love every single part of you. they love you when you're upset, when you're crying, when you're angry– because it's you.

"so stay with me / hold my hand / there's no need / to be brave"

↳ they offer every reassurance they can give you. you no longer have to fend for yourself. those days of being alone are over. you can crumble apart if you need– there's no need for constant bravery anymore. you did such a good job picking yourself up, time and time again. now, they outstretch a hand to you, a silent way of saying, "let me help you this time."

↳ absolutely smitten with you. it doesn't matter how hard you fell. they. fell. harder. and maybe it's not obvious to you. but they've never had someone who made them care so much. some part of them feels immature for feeling so in love,, like a school kid with a puppy crush. they find it ridiculous, how absolutely lovesick and enamoured they are with everything about you. whatever you feel and express towards them, they feel towards you three times as much. they try everyday to show it.

"the right side of my neck / still smells like you"

↳ you just seem to leave a part of you with them always. they can't ignore it– can't seem to escape your presence, even when you're not physically there. it felt like spiralling to insanity at first. but they've learned to appreciate it– find comfort in it, even. the way the smell of your shampoo lingers on the pillow they leant you when you stayed over, the way that the mug of tea (made just the way you like it) is still on the kitchen table from the morning after– you left your t-shirt once and you had to ask them directly for it back. they like keeping pieces of you near. it reminds them of how loved they are.

↳ you're used to pulling away. leave before they can leave you, before they even try to make you miss them– but the second you met them? they were insistent on proving that they were harmless. they could never dream of hurting you. and they see as you pull away, scared to get too close– and yet, every single time, they open their arms back to you.

"and the road's still long but you come along / and you hold my hand, and you understand"

↳ "when you're ready" has become second place in their favourite three word sentences. they remind you of these words constantly.

"when you're ready" means they don't mind that it's not now. ""when you're ready" means it doesn't matter how long they have to wait for you, they will. when you're ready" is another form of "i love you"

↳ wants something simple with you. craves a form of sweet, normalcy. the mundane tasks and events of life seem far more appealing to them when you're in the picture. no, they never really imagined ever having a quiet life, yet the hope for one with you lingered. to buy you little gifts, to be the best they could possibly be to you, to drive around with you for the hell of it. they're certain anything could be heaven if you were there to accompany them.

a quiet life sounds nice.

"i'd be better armed if you agreed to take it"

↳ having you on their arm just makes them feel secure. keeping you close while showing you off to the world– showing you've got each other. they're a bit sappy for little things like this. everywhere you go, they never fail to extend an arm out to you. something about you makes them feel safer than ever.

↳ they try so incredibly hard to be the one for you. no matter what they try, they just seem to fumble and mess it up. they stumble over their words when they try to compliment you, they get weak in the knees when they try to make a move, and no matter how much they spend deliberating, and deliberating– they've got no clue how to win you over. hopefully you find their clumsy attempts endearing. they're making a fool of themself. and maybe, they haven't really said anything yet– but they're happy to at least hang around you in the meantime

↳ he was quiet in the way he expressed his adoration. still, he did everything he could to ensure you would never go unloved. the way he looks into your eyes, taking you in like you are the loveliest thing on earth... it's only fitting. you're his world. maybe in the silent moments, when his fingers gently brush your cheek, admiring you– you'd begin to understand this.

↳ they don't even try to hide how much they enjoy your company. you're special to them– why would they try to hide that? at this point, whenever you feel arms wrap around you from behind, you've learned to see their grinning face when you glance over your shoulder. maybe they've never been particularly shy about most things,, but now they're just twice as loud. it's inexplicable, the things you do to them. they hadn't anticipated being so utterly soft,,, not like they're complaining

Writeblr Introduction

Just learned what a writeblr intro is so I'm gonna make one before I go to bed lol

I've already done something like this a few days ago but that was when I had no clue what I was doing lmao, so might as well make a more in depth one

About me:

19, she/her, bi

American

I write mostly fantasy and urban fantasy, and honestly i dont think i've ever written a story that was non-fantasy lol

Started writing when I was 10, but it was mostly Warrior Cats fanfiction on Wattpad lol. I went through a writing slump for most of highschool but last year I decided to get back into it since I'm not doing anything else lol

I like to read fantasy and classic lit, also anything with vampires. I also have a soft spot for slowburn romances where the main characters dont kiss until, like, the 4th book heehee

In love with anything gothic, vampire, and wlw 👩‍❤‍💋‍👩

I think one of my more niche interests is any early 2000s fantasy/sci-fi movie with a nu-metal/rock/alternative soundtrack like Queen of the Damned and The Crow. They are just...*chefs kiss*

My current stories:

A Chant for Blood (Formerly known as Account of Calamity)

Account of Calamity is a gothic victorian fantasy about a Grand Marshal, Karliah Helisende, and a blood-drinking fiend, Yorick Gwynplaine, who work together to investigate the mysterious portals that spawn dangerous creatures into the city of Isarnan, all the while Karliah is being haunted by the mysterious ancient temple that watches over her every move.

I'm currently working on the second draft, and I may start looking for beta readers once I'm finished, although I know I'm not far from finished with this novel. I also plan to make it a 4 or 5 book series, and slowly add a slowburn romance.

Our Demonic Hearts - The Craven Pact Series #1

Our Demonic Hearts is a urban fantasy about a cambion woman, Ana Kravens, haunted by her past. Taking place in a small Mississippi town, a man she went through a traumatic incident with, Beau Motloe, shows up on her doorstep one day with a deal; help him find his missing mother, and he'll give back the memories she lost during the traumatic incident. Her father, a demonic creature of unknown origin, wants nothing more than the Motloes dead, claiming that they were the very reason his daughter was almost killed 6 years ago. Ana goes against her father's wishes and accepts Beau's deal, suspecting that her father isn't telling the whole truth about that fatal night.

It is completed and available on Wattpad and Royal Road!! It was just a small project I had done for Nanowrimo, and has been edited at least once before being published. However, I plan to make it a trilogy and maybe have some spin-offs. This story is fairly new, but most of the characters are at least 5 years old and I love them very much <3

What I plan for 2024:

Finish the second draft of Account of Calamity and look for beta readers(Completed as of 1/30!! Will be looking for beta readers soon ^^)

Start the second novel of The Craven Pact Series

Write a short story/novella or two taking place within the Account of Calamity universe. My brain is currently exploding with ideas rn

Write a short story about Ana Kraven's mom and how she met Marchosias, Ana's father.

Plan something for Nano?? Idk where I'll be in November lol

I'm interested in following other writers and reading everybody's stories! I would also be interested in a beta read/beta swap ^^

(Some people choose not to have holiday asks because of multiple reasons so I always try to ask so if they don’t they can use my ask to establish the boundaries) With consent secured, What are the BAL!Boys Halloween costumes? Or would it be what Fazbear makes them wear vs what they’d like to wear? I could throw the cliché “Dr.Jeckell and Mr.Hyde”, but I think Fazbear would stick with tried and true Universal Monsters Lineup which does include Phantom of the Opera. Maybe they could lean into Monty’s nicknames and dress themselves as Comedy and Tragedy.

HI HELLO!! Happy Halloween!

I had some fun sketching different costumes, but I think that, like you said, they'd probably stick with Universal Monster Lineup (which, ironically, I didn't have time to draw)

Or maybe more like when a company themes a character after a monster, but they're very much still their own marketable face fgljgd

Like - slap a bat-shaped bow-tie on that bad boy and call that 'vampire sun' or something fjkdjkl YN and the boys would take that and run with it to make actual costumes.

So at first, I drew costumes I think would look cool/fit them well - Jack Skelling-Sun and, uh, Moon Beetle (from Thumbelina! I like that sleazy guy fgkld he owns a cabaret bar in the movie)

That being said!!! I did draw "Sock and Buskin" (tragedy and comedy)! But also I feel like they'd think it's funny to switch the expectations around on who's who! Y/N is a happy-sad clown, while they're jesters with Pierrot and Harlequin elements!

Matching Jacquimo Sun (beloved) for Moon Beetle, and the dress Beetle makes Thumbelina wear on YN. They would bump into everything all the time and the boys think its hilarious.

Matching Oogie Boogie Moon who's wearing a lazy onesie but having fun with it, and I felt like Sally YN was too cliché so I made them the Mayor fljkd Man, remember when you were a kid and had to wear a whole-ass winter coat under your costume and couldn't move your arms at all? Yeah... Cozy though!

Ironically enough, I haven't drawn the Monster Costumes yet, but if all goes well I plan on doing that today (Halloween!) I'll prob add it to another Halloween ask! (Edit: I did not fgjkldkl I drew candy and finished the Jack and Beetle colors)

Muffin, what is your favorite March sister from Little Women? Do you think Jo or any of her sisters would survive Edward?

Well, I'll answer your second question first.

Who Survives Edward?

The funny thing is that most people survive Edward quite easily. If you're an ordinary person who's not on Edward's 1920's hit list then he pays you very little mind and you never really interact with him. For all Jessica annoyed him, she was never in danger from him, nor was Angela, nor many of the other characters we meet.

Even Mike wasn't Edward's concern until Edward became obsessed with Bella and decided Mike was his rival.

So, the March sisters would all be absolutely fine. The likelihood of them smelling as good as Bella is very small, remember Aro's 3500 years old and he hasn't come across his own singer once. Edward's probably not going to run into another singer and it's very unlikely to be one of the March girls.

Now, if they smelled as good as Bella...

Beth and Meg have the best shot at it. Jo is too assertive and too myopic, Edward wouldn't approve of her treatment of Laurie and then her getting upset when Laurie goes and marries Amy. Amy is too self-centered (look, guys, the recent movie was made by Amy stans and I have to go off the book here but even in the recent movie Edward would see it this way).

Beth is incredibly sweet and caring and actually kind of what Edward believes he loves in Bella. She's caring at great cost to herself and with no resentment after scarlet fever destroys her health, she's the heart of keeping her dysfunctional family together, she even sweetly plays piano. Her sickly nature after the fever would also be a bonus for Edward as it means that they're in a doomed romance where woe he could turn her and remove all her health problems but he can't and she's very likely to die young. It also means she'll always need him to care for her and adds to her Victorian style frailty. Beth, for her own part, being the youngest and generally overlooked for her sisters because of her health/youngness/sweetness would probably be very flattered and into this mysterious hot boy who is paying attention to her.

Beth might very well survive until she dies of health complications.

Meg might get by in that she's generally... tolerable. She does what's best for her/the family, does what Aunt Marge thinks is best, and quietly gets married and lives her life the way she's supposed to. The trouble is if she attracts Edward's notice...

Without Bella's mental shield I don't think he's convincing himself she has an entirely different personality and I don't see him being into her. I take it back, Meg dies.

My Favorite March Sisters

I like all of them except Meg, I find Meg boring, which is kind of the point of her, so I guess it works out.

EDIT:

I forgot Beth is the second youngest, not the youngest who is Amy.

So I was watching the disney movie Atlantis; The lost empire and thought that spencer is kinda like him in an endearing way. Maybe you could write something where he dresses up as him for holloween and Reader as Kira? 🙏😇

You were on your way to Penelope's Halloween party. Or the "Spookiest Bash of the season" as she called it. It was her turn to host it this year, and she'd of course made it themed.

Only Disney movie characters. Being the scaredy-cat she was she refused Dereks plead to change it. And your boyfriend, the rule follower he is, was now beside you clad in the least amount of clothing you think you've seen him in, out in public anyway.

Solely dressed in a thin army-green tank top, lighter pants and a satchel to match. "You know Spence, you don't look too different from your usual get up. Don't get pouty when Derek says something!"

"I-I look different!" he was looking down at himself judgingly, "And if Derek says anything I'll just point to my matching partner, you are what completes my look."

As you approach the front door you giggle, he was right of course, with your white wig, bright blue crop top and bohemian styled skirt you definitely looked in costume. Once he rings the doorbell, Penelope answers immediately, Derek and Emily close behind her.

"You're here!" She goes into hug you and you can practically feel Derek's playful insult on the tip of his tongue.

Surprisingly though Emily beats him to it, "Spencer did you even dress up? Cause I don't think its fair I had to dress up as the girl with Stockholm syndrome that fell in love with a unhygenic hairy beast and you're not even dressed."

Derek turns to explain at your horrified expressions, "She's Belle from Beauty and the Beast."

"And what are you?" You roll your eyes at his outfit, he's only wearing a brown loincloth and Penelope evidently is loving it.

"He's Tarzan." Her eyes track him and up and down before letting you two in, turning her attention to Spencer. "And they're right. Who are you?"

He grins, his whole face lighting up at being questioned, putting his little round, very real glasses on the bridge of his nose as he pulls you into him. "Why I'm Milo! And this is my Kida."

Those words recieve a chuckle from all of them as you begin greeting everyone else there, and Spence, out of character or not, has a new fact to tell to anyone wondering about his costume.

"Did you know that Milo wasn't supposed to be visually impared? The origional story board he doesn't have glasses at all! The director made the decision to add them because..." You swear every one knows more about the movie every time they speak to him that night.

And when it comes to picking the movie? Well it isn't a surprise when Atlantis is everyone's first choice.

Official references with colors/age/extra info for Finch in the Window!

This is more or less a master post to keep everything organized!

These are just the rough refs but lined and properly colored, along with one for Splinter that shows him in his suit ( I'll add a ref of him in his naval uniform later ).

Anyway this is gonna be the master post for this au since the comic is coming out soon!

The ROTTMNT rural au is set in 1930s-40s Japan and is essentially just an au about the boys living in the Japanese countryside and dealing with the effects of pre-war ( and then later postwar) Japan. I'm making it in the same vein as Grave of the Fireflies, This Corner of The World and The Wind Rises in that it mostly deals with the effect of the war on citizens and how it upended their lives in the smaller ways ( rationing, losing loved ones, etc )

I'm putting a lot of research into this au, but of course if there as anything that needs to be changed or is wrong please let me know.

Time to ramble about some design choices!

Starting with Splinter: he's totally human in this au, but has much of the same personality as Rise Splinter, save for the movie star thing. He's a lot more contemplative, I think. His first outfit is a simple suit - Japan in the 1920s and 30s was starting to introduce more westernized fashion, at least for the men. Many women still wore kimonos, even in the cities. Since Splinter is a decently high ranked officer as well as moving from the city to the countryside, he would definitely have a suit. I also think that color wise, he has a more subtle blue-grey palette than everyone else. Because I just thought it looked nice. Later on in the au, as he settles into country life, he typically wears a yukata around the house. He also has another outfit, which is essentially just an old naval uniform that er wears to work in the garden. He's 30 at the beginning of the au, in 1932, but since that's when we see him the most I haven't added his later looks just yet.

Raph: so Raph is kind of the main character in this au. He's the eldest and originally he's the only one who really knows what's going on. In my original design he was a bit shorter, but realistically he's probably a lot bigger than all his brothers. Design choices! So, when they were kids Raph typically didn't wear a shirt at all, though sometimes when they went to the village he would wear a yukata and some simple monpe pants. He prefers just wearing an undershirt and the monpe pants, since he's ripped a lot of yukatas with his spikes. He also tends to roll his pants up because he doesn't like when they touch his ankles.

Donnie: so Donnie is the older twin to me always. He's a little taller than Leo, too, but it's barely noticeable. He has super thick glasses that Splinter had to really work to find when he was young , thankfully the prescription was good enough. Nowadays there's a yokai doctor in the village that can help with that stuff. He gets cold easily and tends to bundle up with a more traditional yukata, except he ties the sleeves up to keep them out of the way. He also typically wears monpe pants to do the housework. He does most of the household chores along with Mikey. They're really close due to spending so much time together. He also sucks at sewing.

Leo: Leo is hard of hearing, but usually only has trouble when someone speaks too quietly or there is too much stimuli, like the rain or thunder or things like that. He also has a tendency to wander around their farm at night and frequently falls asleep on the roof. He wears a combination of undershirt + monpe pants and a regular yukata. Typically its the undershirt and pants combo, even when he goes to the village. He also gets cold easily and has a bad immune system, but he still helps Raph with most of the outside labor. Mostly cause he's reckless. He has a long-standing friendship/rivalry with Usagi Yuichi, who I have left out of this post for now since we won't really see him in the comic til later. Leo is great at sewing and has made most of their clothes/patched them up.

Mikey: baby of the group, and spoilt rotten by EVERYONE. Mikey wears mostly a yukata with monpe pants that he rolls waaaaaaay up. Leo keeps telling him to just wear shorts, but Mikey is stubborn asf. He does a lot of the cooking, since Donnie taught him. He is also the closest with their father, if only because he used to spend the most time with him. Yoshi gave him his hat for safekeeping and Mikey has barely taken it off since. His favorite food is watermelon! Mikey is very interested in humans and likes to sneak away to the nearby human village. He also likes to go into the yokai village with Leo when he can.

So that's just me rambling about design choices, clothing things, stuff like that. If anyone has questions I'd be so willing to answer! Keep an eye out for announcements about the comic within the next week or so!

Masterlist

It was no secret that you loved horror movies, at a young age you loved to watch horror. Not only that, but you'd analyze what the characters do right and wrong, since then you began to calculate how you would of done it differently or add to what they'd do. Since then on you'd have some kind of a plan B.

Years had passed, you were a scientist that had been living in Pandora with both your lovers and children. You had an avatar but you only used it if you needed to. You had learned and adapted to the na'vi, but you were still sticking to your human ways. From a young age you had told your kids about what a plan B was and how to make one in case of anything. You wanted them to be prepared for anything just like you were.

When they got older, was when you introduced them to Horror movies. You'd explain to them what to do and what not to do when it came to a situation like that. Both Jake and Neytiri found it odd that you were teaching the kids on topics like this, involving fictional things. In your defense you'd tell them that some movies were based on true events on earth.

You had learned about a war party going out to destroy a train that had been around. In a few days, you had been listening to Jake's plan and you took notes on it as well as beginning to make your own plan B. After he talk he had with the war party, you had began to explain to him along with Neytiri, Neteyam and Lo'ak about your plan B. "Just in case of anything that happens out there, you got a plan!" you explained to them, but Jake had some questions. "How do we know that your plan will work?" he asked. "If it doesn't, then we move to plan C, if that one wasn't work, move to plan D, if not that then plan E" you explain. You had the whole English alphabet in a plan.

"Ma y/n is that really necessary?" Neytiri asked. "Of course babe! You've always got to be prepared, better safe than sorry." You said. "I think Ma is right, having a plan B is good" Lo'ak pointed out. "Yeah, we all know you'll screw up the first plan bro" Neteyam ruffled his little brother's head, making Lo'ak hiss at him in response. "I know it sounds odd and unrealistic, but I get worried when you're all out there risking your lives, I get it, it's for the safety of the people, but who is worried about all of yours safety?" you asked them.

They looked at each other at first, you were right. They risked themselves and other na'vi out there for the safety of the Omaticaya. "You're right y/n, we'll use all the alphabet of your plan." Jake said, basically making you grow excited by his response. "Trust me they'll work!" you explained still hyped that they considered on using your second plans. "You know what, we should watch a horror movie, how does Carrie sound?" you asked, both Neteyam and Lo'ak seemed to agree, but Jake and Neytiri looked concerned. "But Tuk is still to young for horror movies." Neytiri commented. "Oh it's fine, Carrie isn't so bad, but if anything I'll stay up all night taking care of Tuk." You mentioned.

"We should watch Child's Play instead." Lo'ak commented. "Nah bro, not that one, let's watch the Shinning instead." Neteyam commented. They began to go back and forth on what movie they should watch instead. You just chuckled along with Jake and Neytiri, seen how they began to bicker on what movie to watch.

Just like what present mic did, he will put your favorite movie/show on and buy you your favorite snacks/drinks for you to make you happy and loved

Hawks🦉⭐️(Keigo Takami):

He seems like he wouldn't care but he cares alot, heck..he probably has you as his lockscreen and stares at it lovingly whenever he's busy doing hero work

When he found out your scars, he transformed into protective Hawk mode and asked you what happened, when it happened, and who did it, when you told him it was you, he gave a confusing look

"What do you mean about that, baby bird??"

When it finally clicked in him, he was very surprised when he realized what you meant but saddened, so he ordered some chickens from kfc (as always lol) and heated up your blanket so you'll be warm and comfortable.

While the food finally came, he placed it on the table in front of you both and the tv, he grabbed your blanket to place it over you and hold you tightly and gave a kiss on your forehead while giving words of affirmation to make you feel loved. (ahzhxhxbd I love this man ☹️🩷✨️)

"Baby bird, you would never have to feel that way anymore as long as I'm here with you... I promise you that"

THIS WOMEN IS THE BEST AT COMFORTING OTHERS

She would be a good listener if you felt comfortable enough to vent to her. She would rub your back slowly and hug you tightly, but again, not too tight, lol

The same as present mic and aizawa, she would buy you your favorite snacks and drinks and place it on the table, and she would grab your comfort plushie and give it to you so you can hold it.

And just like hawks, she would warm up your favorite blanket so you'll be warm and comfortable, but she would place it on both of you

Mirko will also clean your scars and kiss the places you're insecure about (forgot to add this for aizawa and Hawks 😔🤛) and, like Hawks again, she'll tell you words of affirmation to make sure you know how much she loves you and know that you are loved.

He would be really sad as well when he found out about your scars, but he would understand that you are going through a tough time and if it was because of some specific people then he'll do something about it for you

But if you said no, he'll ofc understand your option and would make you feel loved

Ok I hc fatgum that he would be a great chef so he will cook you any food you like to eat, he'll even use ketchup to make a heart in the corner of the plate and a card that says "love you darling, your perfect no matter what♡"

After you're done eating, he'll transform into his chubby form so you can use him as a pillow and soflty stroke your hair while lifting his head to kiss you on your forehead or whatever, he'll also rub your back and if you want to watch tv...he will find your favorite tv show or movie.

Due to feeling intense brainrot for this new The Thing au me and Rufus made I'm gonna make a kinda. intro? post to it? basically listing off the characters with basic descriptions and the whole. premise of the au. You will listen to me ramble. no you don't have a choice. /lhj

BASICALLY. the au is a crossover between TMC and John Carpenter's The Thing (1982), and is about the main TMC cast working at an antarctic research station before being attacked and picked off one by one by an alien entity that mimics organic material. It follows most of the same events as the movie does, though has quite a few differences from the source material that we'll. discuss later. In the meantime, here's the main cast:

Mark Heathcliff (34): Already touched on this dude's main deal in another post but i'll add some things here. He's the head mechanic of the station, and is quiet, and a bit of a loner. He's a recovering (or attempting to recover) alcoholic that is estranged from his family due to such, and only maintains contact with his sister, Sarah. He sometimes lets his emotions get to him, though he knows how to act in serious situations.

Sarah Heathcliff (21): A college student studying electronics, and was invited to the research facility by Mark because she was thinking of working there one day. Still has some grudges against Mark, as their relationship isn't perfect, but she still cares about him and Mark still cares about her. Becomes friends with Evelin.

Evelin Miller (22): The helicopter pilot and technician of the group. Also a bit of a loner, but helps around the facility whenever needed. Hangs out with Dave sometimes.

Cesar Torres (35): The dog Handler of the group, and thus spends a lot of time with the dogs. Is friends with Mark, though their friendship is. rocky, even if they're trying to fix things between each other. He's a bit more social than Mark, though isn't super energetic either. Overall, the voice of reason.

Dave Lee (46): The Biologist of the group. Is pretty friendly towards his coworkers, albeit awkward at times. Also has an interest in tech, even if it isn't his main profession. Though, he tends to make rash decisions when stressed.

Thatcher Davis (45): One of the station commanders. Overall: very tired and stressed. all the time. DEFINITELY has cabin fever. Overall pretty blunt, and occasionally rude, though he almost never means it in malice that's just how he sounds-

Ruth Weaver (46): The second Station commander, as well as a physician/medic. Quiet and calm in stressful situations most of the time, and is overall just there to help.

Jonah Marshall (23): The radio operator and cook of the group. Overall pretty positive and jokes a lot, though gets stressed and frustrated easily, along with being a bit of a coward at times.

Adam Murray (23(?)): A man who doesn't remember who he is after waking up in a Norwegian research base in the arctic. He doesn't remember much of anything from his past, and is unsure why he's so cold, or why he was found with blood on him.

Gabriel (30): The station commander and medic of the Norwegian research facility. Found Adam and took him in to be treated for frostbite. they seem nice, though something about their stare is. unnerving. They have a few coworkers as well (though they don't have proper names or personalities/occupations yet. Though one of them goes by Six, and is. oddly quiet.)

Do the people want a Nerdy Prudes: Spiderverse AU?

I feel like the thing pretty much writes itself, but I cannot get this idea out of my head. I'll post what I have here and if even one person wants more I'll expand on it. (I'll probably do so anyways tbh)

So while it might feel obvious to make Peter Spiderman, I've decided to go in a different direction...kind of

Stephanie is pretty much Gwen Stacy. Her crush was supposed to be the one to get bit by the spider, but through a series of coincidences she is the one to get powers.

Peter is MJ. Obviously.

So there were a lot of options for Grace, but I decided to stay simple and go with Venom. Venom is Pokey here because I think that there's a lot of potential there. (Though Nibbly could also work.)

The LiB are still very much a thing. I feel like I don't have to reach that far to incorporate the web.

Max is still alive. While somewhat representing Flash, he's Grace's boyfriend in this! He carries her books and follows her like a little puppy.

Solomon would be the main antagonist for the first one. The Green Goblin parallels aren't hard to make, but I'd want to add my own twist on it.

Whatever universe this is happening in is 'wrong'. None of the canon events are going as expected.

Peter was supposed to sneak off during a field trip to CCRP. He'd forget his bag in one of the conference rooms, and then when he went back to get it the spider would bite him.

Stephanie notices that he forgot his bag, and wanting an excuse to keep talking to him, she goes to grab it for him.

Entire timeline is fucked up from here.

Instead of Max, Grace is the one to get 'infected' and becomes Venom.

While I probably won't bring in any Spiderverse characters, there's at least one version of Peter out there looking for a Stephanie that survives. Our Stephanie is the only one.

Ruth and Richie are obsessed with finding out Spiderwoman's identity for gross reasons.

Stephanie didn't tell Grace her identity, the girl walked in on her changing out of the suit after a fight.

Polycule endgame.

The universe keeps trying to kill Peter but he will not die.

Stephanie eventually gets parental figures that aren't awful through her powers. (It's Holloway and Duke.)

When Stephanie first realizes she has powers (it takes her a few days) she doesn't know what to do. That's where Peter comes in. He's a nerd, so he'd know how to start her superhero origin story.

Grace and Stephanie also have so much tension you guys have no idea.

There's a specific scene in my mind with Stephanie falling into Grace's arms unexpectedly and it'd work so well

Kind of an homage to the lunch tray scene in the first Spiderman movie

Introduction/ The Illusion of Living

Introduction

To clarify, there are two pages of the actual "Introduction", followed by a section labeled "The Illusion of Living," which is ANOTHER introduction. I'm crying.

The FIRST Introduction is all fluff, Joey yaps to his cab driver (just known as "Simmons") and sees a Borzoi, and immediately typecasts it as a villain OC to go up against Bendy. That's it. Next section.

The Illusion of Living [The What]

Joey does a horrible job at giving a simple explanation of the Illusion of Living, but not for the reason you'd think. At first it seems to boil down to "the art of lying" or "joey caps for five years," if you will. He also, unsurprisingly, thinks he's a genius and that his philosophy is a gift to mankind.

"It is a life philosophy, but unlike some of our great past thinkers, I did not come to any conclusion through thought and careful meditation. Instead it was born within me. My whole existence has been shaped around this concept. It just took some time for me to learn how to articulate it to others."

"I've always believed that we can communicate to even the simplest person. Communication is everything."

"We are all dreamers at heart, and I want to make sure that all of your dreams will indeed come true thanks in no small part to my unique insights."

But then Joey says something interesting for once, and it seems to imply that the Illusion of Living is a two-way street. Joey believes that reality is also fiction, but it seems to work in reverse as well.

"So in the briefest of explanations: The Illusion of Living is the art of mimicking real life on the big screen."

Real life ---> Big Screen. So not only is fiction reality, the two are interchangeable.

Illusion of Living [Bendy]

"I am a very self-aware person."

Joey goes on to talk about Bendy, but there's...another aspect I'll be sure to bring up before we close on this section.

"I am not offended that he is first in your heart. He is, after all, first in mine. He was my very first creation- one could even call him my firstborn."

"Bendy is my muse. He is also my messenger. He tells the stories of our lives in absurd, hilarious ways that put all of it into perspective. He reminds us that what we truly need in this world is joy and laughter. Money doesn't matter, power doesn't matter, not when we acknowledge the Illusion of Living."

Nathan adds a footnote here that the Illusion of Living wasn't the only thing important to Joey. He knew the value of a dollar and was a good businessman. So apparently, the money did matter after all. Are we shocked that a Capitalist required money to achieve his goals and aspirations?

"He isnt' real others might argue. Such a ridiculous argument "isn't real." We can see him, we can touch him, kids snuggle with their stuffed Bendys at night. He has more fans than the Marx Brothers! What is real if he isnt'?"

"I tell people that Bendy is the perfect example of my philosophy. He is its manifestation. Or as I like to say, "Dreams come true."

Joey isn't entirely wrong here. We see movie franchises IRL that have a huge influence on pop culture all the time, and we see fandoms and cult followings spring up from said media. The impact is real, if not the characters themselves.

"Your dreams can come true. Because, as I've explained, illusion and reality are the same thing."

Again, the Illusion of Living is an insistence that reality and fiction are one and the same.

I'm going to swap a line from the end of the Bendy section to here, because I want to touch on something I noticed afterwards.

"Now I'm getting ahead of myself. I get excited and tell the story too fast. That's what editors are for I suppose."

Nathan adds a footnote here that IOL went through three different editors, finally landing on the desk of Sandy Pommel (another rando), who opted to put back in a lot of the remarks in order to 'truly capture Drew's charm," as Nathan puts it. (My girl wanted that edit credit so bad lmfao)

ANYWAY, let's take a look at these little slices of IOL I've been saving for last.

"I tell people that Bendy came to me in a dream."

"No, what I had to do was want the dream in the first place. To know that I needed a creation so perfect, so accessible to so many people, that it would help me change the way the world saw itself. That was my dream. I was awake, I knew what I wanted; I made it happen."

He mentions wanting to "change the way the world saw itself" through bendy. Wanting to create a character that was "accessible to so many people." Later in IOL, we see Joey discuss with Abby what he wants Bendy to be like. Not Satan, he specifically clarifies, but an imp-like character, someone mischievous. We know Joey believes reality and fiction can be swapped out for each other, so that could be the world change he was talking about, but I think he also wanted people to recognize their own impish nature- getting into trouble and laughing every once in a while. Or maybe, just maybe, I've been reading the words of Joey Drew for too many hours.

"Only then did Bendy appear to me. Only then did I start working with other artists to make him a reality. But you see, I first made my dream. And then I made my dream come true.

Working with other artists, eh? Like who, Joey?

Also, note the insistence that he created Bendy first, directly after that sentence. As if trying to convince himself that Henry had no part in creating Bendy, and trying to keep his story straight in the way he wants it portrayed to the public.

(This facade later crumbles on page 154, with Joey pretending not to miss or need him at the studio and failing horribly.)

Things get really interesting when Joey describes Bendy's creation. He sees it as his big dream being fully realized. To him, this is also the"birth" of his son, or at the very least, the creation of his muse, messenger, and avenue to tell his stories. "I tell people that Bendy came to me in a dream" is a coverup of course, some smoke and mirrors to convince people that he had an epiphany and came up with Bendy himself, but he also clearly sees it as a wonderful event.

We know Henry created Bendy, of course. We know it wasn't Joey's hand that ultimately struck paper. However, that doesn't make Joey's feelings any less real.

During Bendy's creation, there are two truths happening at the same time to make the full picture. Henry drawing, and hell, maybe Joey bouncing a couple ideas off him. The process takes just minutes, but it feels like hours. Bendy is created, and Joey is there to witness it. And to Joey, it's the most perfect creation in the world. And he's going to share this creation with Henry, this dream with Henry.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say that, to Joey, Henry created his son.

TL;DR The Illusion of Living is Joey's philosophy that reality and fiction are one and the same. Joey wants his OC to be real so bad. Joey views Bendy as his actual son and Henry created him and also Joey was there for his creation so what I'm saying is Henry created a son for his business partner and they were just gonna chill like that until Henry left and broke his heart or something

depictions and representations of mental health is probably the thing that's most consistent throughout my work? maybe its just the psych major talking but i find that stuff endlessly fascinating

i've lived in various places overseas for most of my life, so i enjoy stories set in unique locations absolutely DRENCHED in culture!!

current projects

i feel a bit awkward sharing these because again, i'm not a great writer, but i like reading about other writeblr's projects so i figured i'd give other people the option of seeing mine! warning for pretentious titles for very straightforward and basic concepts

WIP - flowers that mean "we'd miss you" - a short story I wrote while testing out subtext, character dynamics and prose!! the basic run-down is that a boy wakes up in the hospital and now he and his friends have to navigate a very difficult conversation. the subject matter definitely requires a content warning, and it has a few gaps i still need to fill, but overall i really like the direction it's headed!! out of all of these projects, it's probably the one i have the least issues with.

in the ataraxis of aftermath - this one is a novel i wrote for NaNoWriMo 2020! it is post-apocalyptic with elements of fantasy, slice-of-life, and romance, specifically lgbtq+ romance. it's about a girl exploring what remains of her flooded city when she suddenly finds another survivor. despite the genre, this novel is very slow-paced and calm, relying more on the character dynamics and emotional journey of the protagonist instead of traditional story beats and plotlines!! i finished the whole first draft that november (and without any real outline to guide me, so altogether it's a bit of a mess), and i plan on rewriting it after i finish the two following projects!!

WIP - the owl's wish - originally intended as a short story for just a friend and i, this project is quickly expanding into a full-on novel!! it's a haikyuu!! fanfic, but i've been told that the story is well enough removed from the show that it can work even if you don't that context. the only summary i can give without spoilers is that it's about an owl spirit with amnesia who finds a friend, and together they set off to get their wishes granted by the mysterious Lady of the Yellow Springs (but it's about more than that, i promise ;) ). it's set in ancient japan, and i referenced a few traditional fairytales when drawing up the outline, but otherwise it's a completely original folktale that can hopefully be accessible to anyone who picks it up!!

WIP - currently titled ouroboros paradox - this is a novel i am currently plotting, so honestly i'm not so sure how much i can say!! this is a fantasy novel coming from my intense passion for large creatures, horror elements, and norse mythology. as far as i know now, the story will follow two protagonists in the city of jörmungandr - one from the past and one in the present - as they try to navigate life, religion and ethics in a world where murdering living beings lengthens your lifespan. i plan on finishing my outline before this november, so i can try to hit 50K for nanowrimo this year!!

I h a v e to know what Padak is about XD

Oh... Oh you sweet summer child, you don't know?

Well I'm glad I can tell you instead of you like, stumbling on this movie and having all of it jump out at you XD

Ok ok, I genuinely love this film and I'll admit, I really want to take a moment to geek out about it. But that would involve in me getting into spoiler territory. So, in case you decide to look for this film yourself, I'll just give you the generalized story here.

The movie is about a lone mackerel, later in the film named Padak for trying to 'padak padak her way to her death' (she jumped out of the tank and was flip flopping on the ground. I'm guessing Padak is Korean for Flip-Flop? It's a good thing this film wasn't Australian, or else she'd be named Thong. I'm sorry) is fished out of the sea and dropped into a tank at a local restaurant, and has to escape back to home, all while trying to convince her new tank-mates to escape with her. Simple plot, right? Well... Here's a quote from the YouTube review that introduced me to Padak that pretty much sums up the whole movie perfectly.

"Imagine if you took the fish tank setting from Finding Nemo and mixed it with the graphic violence from Watership Down, drizzled it in the depressing tone of Plague Dogs, and gave it a garnish of that sushi scene from The Isle of Dogs. That's basically this film on a plate."

Now, why is the sushi scene prevalent? Because this film takes place in a Korean restaurant where their food is as fresh as possible. Meaning that the fish are prepared and even eaten while still alive. And this film pulls zero punches in showing the horrors of this kind of delicacy (no, I'm serious. A fish is literally cut up and dissected on screen. This movie takes off the kid gloves and throws them in the God damn incinerator). So yeah, there are a lot of images in this film that will be upsetting to veiwers. But this film isn't gorey just for the sake of gore. It tells a genuinely very sad story and will wring out emotions from your heart, and can also be breathtaking with its musical and 2D animated segments.

I'd recommend checking out this reveiw before trying to find the film, though. Even if watching a reveiw is not at all like watching the movie, this guy does censor some of the more extreme gore (like the scene I mentioned above). He doesn't censor all of it, but I think this video is still the best introduction to this movie.

However, if you want to check out the movie, I could only find it on this website https://online.potlockermovies.com/full-movie/padak/ it's free, and it does have English subtitles (the movie doesn't have an English dub), but there are a lot if pop up adds and it's probably going to get frustrating clicking off of them, but this site was still the best I could find to watch Padak.

It's interesting to note that this film does not go in the direction you might expect it to. If it weren't for the fact that I had watched the video above before the movie itself, I would have been just as shocked with how it ended and what happened to our characters as Steve was. But at the same time, the film does establish right away that it's going for more... For lack of a better term, realistic approach. So although the film goes in an unexpected direction, it's also hard to say that it cheated you out of your time to view it.

Again, to try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, I'm only going to sum up the third act in lyrics from the last song of the movie that speaks mountains once you realize it.

Destiny tricks us like fools.

He also gives off a kind of viscious cunning vibe in the movie? Like he's the second in command character that's a bit of a bastard. I think you might like him if you watch this movie. And the old Flatfish who is 'The Master' of the tank.

Oh yeah also, there's this eel (who I think is named Anago? Or Jooldom? His name is never mentioned in the film, however the video above calls him Jooldom, and I've seen people on this site argue his name is meant to be Anago. There isn't much information for this movie online, unfortunately.) who everyone wants to become the next tumblr sexyman. All because of his voice. To be fair, it is a nice voice.

TCR Reviews: Episodes 5 & 6

I missed posting my review for Ep 5 last week, so I'll just combine it with my review for Ep 6.

*****WARNING: SPOILERS!!!!

Ep 5 Review:

Overall, I felt like this episode was really good! I was glad that we as the viewers were able to get a little more insight into Danny's childhood. This episode was very sad to me though. 😔 And some scenes could have possibly been very triggering for some watching because is deals with the topic of child sexual abuse. 😔

To me, it's just utterly DISGUSTING how a grown adult would take full advantage of a CHILD and abuse them in this vile way, and basically rob them of their innocence like this. 😡 Those actions have awful consequences for the child victim, and many times they struggle with the abuse even into adulthood, and it basically ruins their adult life forever...especially if they don't receive any assistance/therapy. 😔

I kept praying that they weren't going to show us too much of the abuse in this episode, because that would have just been super sad. 😭 Thankfully, the show stopped just short of showing too much (thank goodness). I feel like Ep 4 started making it more and more apparent that Danny is dealing with DID and doesn't even realize it himself (but others around him can tell something is wrong with him), whereas I feel like Ep 5 kind of showed us why Danny is the way he is, and some of the reasons behind his mind split. The interesting thing though is that his mind seems to have split even before the abuse of the stepfather, so it makes me wonder if maybe he had some other possible childhood trauma in his history? 🤔

Anyway, by the end of Ep 5 I just felt SO SAD for Danny, and I keep wondering..."When is his life going to change for the better??" 😭 His life is just so sad and depressing. 😩 My heart goes out to him. With that said, I like how this show isn't making Danny into some kind of "monster", but is more so showing how we should have sympathy for his character and his mental struggles. I know a LOT of fans were worried that the series would focus on the murders and rapes, and were afraid it was going to cast people with DID in a bad light, and some were worried about seeing Tom in a controversial role like that, but so far, it's clear to see that a LOT of fan worries and anxieties (and assumptions) were waaay off base.

Ep 6 Review:

I really loved this episode! 😃 I LOVED getting to know more about Rya and seeing more into her life. Now things are starting to come together. The pieces are all starting to fit.

Idk why critics claimed that the series is difficult to follow in the timeline. The timeline isn't difficult to follow imo at all. In fact, I actually LOVE when shows/films go back and forth from the past to the present. I like trying to connect the dots lol. Maybe they didn't add the "5 weeks after the Rockefeller shooting" taglines on the episode scenes at the time the critics saw the show?? Anyway.... Tom's acting! He did awesome in Ep6. 👏🏾😃I can't wait for more! I feel like we will get even MORE of his great acting in the latter episodes. He did the transitions so well too. You could see him switch from Jack to Danny so effortlessly. Even the way he holds his eyes... It's very subtle, but it's noticeable. His scenes in this episode remind me so much of James McAvoy's performance in the film "Split" and his therapist scenes. The switch btwn characters is just amazing. I'm glad they added those elements in this series as well.

After what I've already seen so far, I definitely think Tom deserves at least an Emmy NOD. I can only imagine we get more of his fine acting in latter episodes.

This series reminds me so MUCH of "Primal Fear" with Edward Norton. GREAT movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it! I saw it years ago, so when Tom said this series was going to be a lot like "Primal Fear", I already knew what type of ride we would be in for lol. 😅🤣

I honestly don't know why critics slammed this series so much. It has been a "slow burn" (sure), but definitely not anything horrible at all! I'm almost wondering if they even saw all 10 episodes?? 👀 I also love how the series isn't making Danny out to be a monster. I know a lot of fans were worried about that, but I had faith that they weren't going to go that route when I kept hearing about how the series was being described. I like how it's moreso focusing on his mental health. I love it. It's been very good so far. It's VERY much like the film "Primal Fear" imo.

Can't wait for Ep7!!! 😁👏🏾
