Smol Brainstorm: The Tattoo Artist

Author's Note: Smol brainstorm with some smol angst regarding Jungkook and the tattoo artist scandal. Not sure if I will keep it but I was playing around. Jen would be on facetime with Amity about it.

Jennie sighed loudly as her name was getting dragged into the big mess that was occurring with her boyfriend. She was getting sick of social media these days. One day she was going to never come back. She felt it coming. You can't do anything without someone speculating something. Social media was going crazy over the fact that Jungkook was seen with some tattoo artist and leaked photos of him hugging her.

The public was already speaking out on their opinions:

'Here we go...men embarrassing black women once again. Jennie, I am so sorry...'

'Jennie, it's time to leave him because wtf is this?'

'Is JenKook about to be no more!? Love ain't real!'

'Jennie is about to beat both of their asses!'

'Y'all are blowing this way out of proportion...he isn't cheating.'

'Omg Army Twitter is so annoying. That man is crazy about Jennie. There is no way he'd cheat,'

'Y'all did this with Jennie and now it's Jungkook's turn? Leave them both alone! They are not cheating on one another!'

'I need Jennie to speak up about this. What is her reaction?'

'Y'all are so damn toxic.'

'I stan BTS because of their music. Not what they do in their personal lives.'

'Remember when Jennie took a long social media break because of your toxicness regarding her relationship with Kook? I don't blame her if she deactivates again,'

On a group Facetime call with Angelina, Layla, Trinity, and Hailey, Jennie explained the situation.

"Did he call or text yet?" Trinity asked.

"Nothing," Jennie answered.

"What? Maybe you should break up with him,"

Jennie frowned at that. "That's a bit extreme, don't you think? It's a misunderstanding. You know how the media twists shit,"

"I dunno, I have to agree. Because why would he have his arms around her like that?" Layla added.

"Men be hugging me like that sometimes," she countered while Layla and Trinity were still skeptical.

"You should trust him," Hailey brought up.

"Hell froze over because I agree with Miss Snob over here," Angelina replied.

"I'm glad you and I agree on something, bitch," Hailey chuckled with Angelina.

"Really? You guys are fine with him hugging up with some girl?" Layla asked.

"It looked like a friendly hug," Angelina replied. "I hug people like that and so do others with me,"

"It didn't look friendly to me," Trinity said.

The discussion was beginning to overwhelm Jennie as she listened to them go back and forth.

"Jen, talk to him," Angelina said. "Whenever he sees you, you two need to have a long discussion,"

"Yeah, I personally don't think he would cheat on you. This gotta be a misunderstanding," Hailey added.

"Jen, are you really fine with this?" Layla asked.

"I hug my guy friends, I don't think it was that big of a deal," Jennie answered.

"I dunno, you're not mad enough for me. I'd be pissed," Trinity frowned.

"Is this why your relationships failed?" Hailey called out.

"Wow, that was low," Trinity replied to her.

"Because you have no trust in anyone. The smallest shit happens and you get insecure,"

Trinity rolled her eyes. Hailey had hit a nerve and she was right about it.

"Just because you feel this way doesn't mean she has to. Her relationship with Jungkook has been built on trust. This is just a misunderstanding and social media is blowing it out of proportion," Hailey went on.

"Wow, Hailey is making sense and using her brain. How about that," Angelina praised.

Once Layla, Trinty, and Angelina left the call, Hailey stayed on.

"You alright?" she asked as she watched Jennie sigh and run a hand over her hair.

"Yeah...I just...I just want to talk to him face to face. But I'm in New York while he's in Korea,"

"Do you trust him?"

"With all my heart,"

"Do you love him?"

"With all my heart, yes,"

"Then keep trusting in him. Keep loving him. You two will get through this. Talk with him when you get a chance so you two can clear this up. And do not retaliate online. Don't be like me. Don't be like how I was when I lashed out on social media. Handle this privately. This is nobody's business but you and your boyfriend's.

Before Jennie could reply, she heard a series of knocks on her hotel room door.

"Okay. Thank you. I gotta go. I'll keep you updated,"

"You better. See you, JW," she smiled softly and hung up.

Getting off her bed, she opened the door and was surprised to see Jungkook standing there.

"K-Kook," she said in surprise.

"Hey, I'm sorry I didn't answer, I was on a flight straight to you. Can we talk?"

I'm just gonna rant my chest out regarding the recent Watcher's announcement because I'm still trying to process wtf has just happened & it's pretty late at night. (For the record, I'm one of their international viewers from a 3rd world country.)

It sucks that I cannot buy their official merch that is already expensive (due to conversion rates) + not being able to deliver in my country when I've some spare cash. That's fine by me.

It sucks that I cannot go & watch their live shows being available at certain countries that doesn't cost a damn fortune (plane tickets, hotel bookings, converting currency, etc.) + not in a million years they'll stop by SEA to do tours/live shows. That's also fine by me.

However, the way how they hyped up the announcement mentioning big things are coming only to just drop a video saying "Hey, we're leaving Youtube as the money ain't flowing much to cover our 'extravagant' expenses & all future contents will be locked behind a paywall. So if you're unable to watch most of your beloved shows because you can't pay then toodles!" That's NOT fine by me, let alone anyone else in the matter.

Even if I've a fuck ton of money to spare, I'm still not buying their monthly/yearly WatcherTV subscription because it's JUST. NOT. WORTH. IT. Who wants to buy a monthly yet alone yearly subscription just to watch 1-2 episodes of a show I like being put out weekly per season & then waiting for some time before another new season of another show that has a 50-50 chance whether I enjoy it or not pops up to fill the void? Not me, that's for sure. Damn, I rather subscribe to Netflix or buy YouTube premium if I could because the money spent is worth the content I can get on a monthly/yearly basis.

I get putting exclusive contents such as BTS, special interviews/podcasts, early access to episodes, etc. behind a paywall since they're just nice bonuses for fans who're able to support them but locking REGULAR YOUTUBE content that's not being released consistently & have nothing much to offer behind a paywall? I think you're losing your crackers on this one chief.

After watching the announcement video, I feel plainly numb & disappointed that this is the route they're going for. I understand they need the funds to make videos, pay people & also wanting the freedom to make content that you want to make without adhering to the restrictions of advertisers. I get it.

But what I don't get is this mind numbing decision to spit at the faces of people who can't afford to fork out some cash to enjoy their once free favourite shows that helped cheer them up during the tough times. It's even more disgusting what I heard from Coffeezilla's recent video about Watcher mentioning that they don't even give out a free WatcherTV subscription to their Patreon members as a way to say thank you for your patronage is really saying something eh?

4 years ago, I found Shane & Ryan via Buzzfeed Unsolved just like everyone else randomly being recommended to me on Youtube. I binge watched all seasons of Buzzfeed Unsolved exactly at the same time they're announcing their departure from Buzzfeed to go do their own content at Watcher. What's this? A channel where I can watch the ghoul boys do their own thing? Hell yeah, sign me tf up.

It's really nice to see Watcher growing & trying out new different shows. I'm aware not all the shows they put out matches my taste & that's fine by me. Probably there's an audience out there who enjoy these shows that aren't for me.

I remember the time I was excited when they bring in Ghost Files & Mystery Files which can fill in the Buzzfeed Unsolved void. Are You Scared? & Too Many Spirits are the shows I enjoy listening to them as background noise so that I can focus on my work.

Puppet History & Top 5 Beatdown is where I enjoy the chemistry between the talents & guests. Weird, Wonderful, World & Tourist Trapped is where I enjoy seeing cool places run by passionate people & is like a nice, come hangout with me type of video blogs.

4 years later, this is where I'll be hopping off with the knowledge that I can't no longer be able to enjoy all these shows anymore like I used to just because I can't afford to whip out some measly cash to pay for regular content that I can easily find on Youtube for free.

Even if you leave up the old videos on Youtube (after you've backpedalled your decision to remove all the videos entirely in the first place due to the backlash & gaslighting us into thinking we misunderstood but your Variety article says otherwise), the whole ordeal just makes the experience to re-watch all the content that I used to love & enjoy feels awkward & left a sour, bitter taste in my mouth.

With a very heavy heart, I say thank you for the fun shows you have been putting out these past 4 years & farewell to Team Watcher. I don't know how're you going to recover from this but I wish you a best of luck moving forward.

Our bl boys love the beach or a gay little pool scene, yet sometimes their swim technique… could use a little improvement. As an ex swimmer I can’t help but notice when certain characters aren’t swimming properly so I’ve compiled a short & silly list going from least worst to most worst of imo the worst swimming atrocities in bl

this would probably look a lot better with gifs so you could see them in action but I don’t have the skill

1. Kongpob in sotus ep8 2/4

he drowned for attention :/ like get up lol. Gay people are so dramatic

2. Palm in never let me go ep2 2/4

Now we’re onto actual swimming critique. I’m sorry but what are his feet & legs doing. He’s here to practice swimming but he’s not even kicking above water?? I don’t see a single splash. Why is he turning his whole chest for every stroke. His head is above the water too so we gotta get a lot more horizontal and start looking down. Love u Palm but you gotta work on that. Also very funny that nuengdiao sits and watches him swim... like your gay ass doesn’t care abt needing a “teacher” you’re just here to Gaze Homosexually. I know Pond also worked on swimming for the role so he kinda gets a pass. I appreciate the effort!

3. PETE IN DARK BLUE KISS EP1 1/4

THIS HAS UPSET ME SINCE I FIRST WATCHED IT YEARS AGO…. WHY DID HE DIVE LIKE THAT. YOUR ARMS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OVER YOUR HEAD??? what REALLY kills me is the fact that this is supposed to be his super cool introduction scene. You have all this build up and by the end all I can think abt is how he doesn’t know how to dive. Again, love u Pete but wtf was that. I’m aware Tay was worried about looking cool but he pulled that off just fine.. the fact that the diving wasn’t done properly just makes me burst out laughing every time. The angle they chose for the series does a little justice but the bts where we can see it from the side just settles how bad it is. I’m sorry.

In the same bts clip Tay literally says his belly turned red and that is because he did not dive but in fact bellyflopped 👍

+ after he dives he isn’t kicking above water/swimming horizontally either like Palm did. Help

I would like to give a special shoutout to the swimmers in until we meet again though bc they swam wonderfully!!

I’m seeing proper dives! I’m seeing splashes from kicking! I’m even seeing flip turns! Great work all around everyone! Of course, these characters are swimmers so naturally one would expect they should know what they’re doing, but it’s still nice to actually see it in action

Now this little list is just put together from what’s at the top of my head (I’m not watching bls for swimming technique after all) and it’s also not meant to be taken that seriously either lmao. I’ve just always found it unintentionally comedic whenever a supposed swimmer character can’t do something an irl swimmer would deffo have to know. Long live our swimmer bl boys!

seeing some ppl not liking ‘take two’ for being another emotional, nostalgic, appreciative song for army & i have to ask…wtf did they expect, especially at that point in time when they recorded it???

like…sorry that the group isn’t exactly pumped to be forced into the military, and to not be able to do the things they love for the next 2 years? sorry that they’re feeling wistful & nostalgic about the past 10 yrs of their lives? considering namjoon wrote the lyrics, its not surprising.

anyways, it’s another lovely song from our boys & i’m personally happy to have it as a 2 yr parting gift.

the people I've seen saying something about it just wish the boys could do what they wanna do that doesn't include praising people who don't even deserve it atp. Saying another run bts or yet to come would have been better.

I’m sorry but it is beyond me how people don’t see what’s behind the "awkwardness" between Jikook. It was just so obvious to me from the very beginning of being a fan, I don’t get how people don’t get it? The contrast between how affectionate JK can be with his hyungs, like Hobi for eg, who he always likes to go for cuddles, and how he seems to be walking on eggshells when it comes to Jimin, sometimes more sometimes less. Which doesn’t match at all what we know about Jikook, being extremely close, if not the closest members, from their own mouths or staff or other witnesses, oftentimes even referred as a unit. And then you have some 'wtf just happened' moments like GCF in Tokyo, Rosebowl, the hickey, to just tell a very few. Moments that would make 0 sense if you think these two aren’t close. Now just try to connect the dots…? I don’t know about you, but if I had to act like my boyfriend, with whom I’ve been for years, wasn’t my boyfriend, in front of a public, or even cameras… I wouldn’t know what to do with myself and how to behave/say to him. Just imagine yourself, put yourself in their shoes with that scenario in mind. I don’t know I guess I’m being condescending and I’m sorry if I sound annoyed but it’s really not that hard to understand, I don’t get why people are so clueless about this. Maybe that’s because I see a lot of myself in JK. I don’t think he’s really good at acting and lying, he gets tense and act awkward indeed. I feel for him. But honestly, to me the whole picture makes total sense, he’s deeply in love with Jimin and unfortunately still have to hide it, sometimes he gives it away, let’s his guard down, in other circumstances he doesn’t or just simply can’t.

No, I understand you. That's how I see it as well. But even if Jungkook is sometimes a bit awkward when Jimin flirts or touches him, their body language doesn't lie. Jungkook often stares at Jimin's lips and lets Jimin get way too close to him, so even when he does pull away, it's way later than anyone else would've been comfortable with (eg. their "almost kiss" - JK pulled back from Jimin when their lips were almost touching but anyone else wouldn't have even let Jimin's face come that close to theirs and there are plenty of examples to prove it). When Jungkook and Jimin sit together, for example, their bodies are often angled towards each other (eg. Armypedia) or touching (eg. 2020 NYE live, that famous Run BTS episode, or the maknae line + Hobi PTD live). But then you have times like the MOTS: 7 comeback live where Jimin was in Jungkook's space but Jungkook was sitting conspicuously still for someone who is always fidgeting - and when Jimin laid his head on Jungkook's knee, Jungkook's hands flexed like he wanted to touch Jimin but couldn't and was super aware of it.

The fact that Jungkook has such clear boundaries and established dynamics with other members, and his behavior towards them is so predictable, yet he can be such a wild card when it comes to Jimin is really telling.

This song is dedicated to Army, which is the name to describe BTS's fans. Jimin wants to tell their fan that you have to love yourself and be your own guidance light in their lives. When you listen to this song, you can feel that Jimin is not only delivering this message to the fan but also talking to himself.

There are not a lot of instruments in this song. Only using a guitar to create how raw and truthful Jimin is to express his feelings with the Army. He's never confident with his voice. I mean, WTF?? Jimin, you have an angel-like voice that is so smooth to listen to, especially at night, which even cures depression.

Just Say You're Jealous of Jimin and Go.

I wasn't planning on saying anything about the drama on Twitter this morning after the group photo was posted after the press conference. But its honestly ridiculous, so consider this me venting it out here for a moment. BTS dropped an amazing song, had a wonderful press conference, and dropped a group photo where jikook were... jikooking. It was amazing and I'll probably never be over it! And IMMEDIATELY hate started going around under Big Hits account and on the timeline for Jimin and Jikook. Its not even about ships anymore, its about basic respect for a group you say you "stan" and love.

Not only were weird edits made of Tae or other women idols in place of Jimin, but the amount of defensive "they are brothers" tweets and hate directed towards Jimin was insane. Its just a god damn photo. It's adorable, appreciate it or don't, but keep your toxicity to yourself.

All the comments about Jungkook being forced to pose like this or forced to interact with Jimin are straight bullshit. And I can't believe that is even a thing anyone has to say at this point. I'm fully aware basically all the hate came from TKKs. Which baffles me because there were a ton of adorable Taekook moments recently. Obsess over those? Is it because this singular moment was more intimate and telling than any other moment TK had that showcased their friendship? Take your jealousy and shove it.

Look! Taekook are cute as hell together! Can you just enjoy them without spewing toxic bullshit just because you see Jimin as some kind of threat to your ship? And no. Jungkook is not being forced into anything. Anyone who says that he is, doesn't actually know their idol AT ALL. Jungkook, Tae and Jin are the kings of "I do whatever I want... I don't listen to the company." Those 3 give off the biggest "wtf are they gonna do, fire me?" vibes. Yet people are still out here thinking they are forced into interactions they don't want or forced to stay away from each other?

Jungkook forced to interact intimately with someone he doesn't want to be with? This is the same man who was told he shouldn't get tattoos because its not okay for an idol, who now has a full sleeve and spent the live today showing them off in short sleeves. This is the same man who dyed his hair himself in the bathroom after the company told him not to. This is the same man who pushes the members off him whenever he needs space. This is the same man who has declined "fanservice" when not in the mood. This is the same man who stared down a bunch of fans and said "I am not your Oppa" even though RM was telling him its fine and to let it go for the fans. He does not do anything he doesn't want to do. This is the man whose slogan is "rather be dead than cool." Who doesn't want to live unless he is living with passion. He is a rebel soul at heart. And he is a grown ass man who can take care of himself. If he is hugging someone, its because he wants to hug them. So step off his ass and let him live. Damn.

And Tae? You think he is going to stay away from someone he supposedly loves just because the company said to? Tae? The same man who got on livestream on his birthday to inform the fans that the company banned him from saying anything about his mixtape... and then proceeded to say "But I don't listen to the company" and giggle his butt off while sending snarky looks to the staff as he played 3 to 5 second clips of his mixtape songs on live stream. The same man who also dyed his hair himself after the company said no. The one who said No, I won't flash my abs anymore, im not comfortable with it and had RM talk to the company to get their choreography changed along with the other members. The one who has no problem telling fans they have no chance with him in WeVerse replies (not very good fanservice there for a typical idol). Tae, who wrote a Christmas love song and wanted to have it be a duet with Jimin and had the company tell him that 2 guys couldn't sing the song and he had to record it with a female Vocalist and release it that way. And Tae responded by refusing to release the song, he wanted it to be Jimin, if he couldn't have Jimin, he wouldn't do the song.

Do either of these men sound like pushovers and doormats like people are making them out to be? Jin has a reputation in the fandom as the rebel. JinHit is a running joke. Everyone is willing to recognize it. But for some reason, that same energy is ignored in Taekook. Their shippers are willingly blind to it. If their shippers had to admit that Taekook had free will, it would dismantle their entire tragic star crossed lovers canon divergent fanfiction as exactly what it is... fiction.

Jimin is NOT the problem here. If Kookie didn't want to be in an embrace with him, he wouldn't be. THEY BOTH chose to pose like this and they all chose to post it. And I, for one, absolutely love it. BTS are all grown men who can make their own choices and don't need their so called fans victimizing them for things that aren't even a problem. Also, Tae and JK are both so endeared by and love Jimin so much, they would be appalled by the things people say about him in relation to their "ship" so everyone should just leave them all alone!

Ship whoever you want, but put respect on all 7 members. If you can't, then keep your mouth closed. Good lord.

Anyway, Jikook are SO loud lately and nothing you say will change how close they are. Stay Pressed and Stream Butter.

I don’t know how BTS handle having cameras on them all the time. I’m sure they have privacy and whatnot but damn, it must be exhausting to have your every move being recorded. Just look at all the footage we’ve been given since their debut. I’m sure they are used to it by now but still. It’s like those times where Jimin and Jungkook got caught in 4K. They let their guards down because they thought they were alone but then bam! a camera is shoved on their faces. There’s also moments that we don’t need to see. For example, when Jimin got Jungkook a Louis Vuitton bag for his birthday. That whole moment makes me feel uncomfortable because it looks so personal/intimate. Like it’s not my business. They should’ve kept that footage private, imo. What are some moments that made you go “Should’ve kept this moment/footage private”?

JK practically grew up (teenage years and on) with cameras in his face. I cannot imagine how hard it is to live with so little privacy. Thing is that over time you get used to it and let your guard down, and that's when we get some of those Jikook moments. Those in the background and those they are caught off guard (car selfie & BV3). Moments they think they aren't noticed (J-14 interview, footsies BV1, BV3, BV4).

You asked what moments made me go "should've kept this private?"

This is about moments that were editable. Obvious moments, not those that are in the background and maybe went unnoticed by the editors (footsies for instance). Also, not Vlives that have plenty of wtf moments. I'm not adding RB either. There was a logic behind adding this in to the official content, as strange as that may be.

Well, up there topping my list at NO. 1, ahead by miles than any other questionable moment would be: drum roll please...

Own it.

By far, the most cringe worthy worst choice ever to upload and share with the world. What makes this more of a "this should have been kept private" moment is that it was a private moment to start with. They were alone. The choice to dim the lights. The choice of music. The JM situation (one they were both full aware of and at some point was tried to cover up). Why the hell would you then go and upload this online????

This is no. 1 by far because it was their choice all the way.

Then following far behind you will have the moments they were caught off guard. Those moments they thought they had privacy but were surprised by the cameras, and yet, the editors decided to share these moments:

The car selfie

They were clearly having a private moment. This had nothing to do with taking a selfie for Twitter. The way JK was looking at JM, not the camera. JK was so stressed he started to hyperventilate.

I truly don't understand the decision making here, why editors felt it was ok to share this moment. But then, we have the same kind of feel in BV3 behind episode 8, when Tae comes into the room where they are clearly both there having a private moment. They are caught off guard. Yet again, the panic on JK's face.

And one more moment up there is the 2018 summer package in room cameras. Why, oh why did editors find it necessary to show those two entering JK's room. All boys had the cameras in the rooms, but not all were shown entering, so why show them? They were clearly caught off guard, moving the camera around and making sure we see JM exiting the room (footage was edited in a way that shows he left pretty much immediately after he entered, which was not true).

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but I feel frustrated. As a disclaimer: I’m not the biggest fan of merch in general. I think it’s a bit silly and consumeristic. However, I know it comes with the territory and Louis’ merch isn’t half bad, as far as merch goes, so I’ve always been okay with it. However, the 369, 28, etc. was fun at first but it’s dragged out way too long and no one is any closer to understanding the meaning. Hats off to all the lovely Louies who are trying to decipher wtf it all means, but I’ve yet to see one explanation where I’m like, “Ah, that’s it.” Also, idk how to articulate this… but I feel like the cryptic merch encourages (or even legitimizes) the wrong kind of speculation. I mean, I sort of agreed when Louis said, “If you google a conspiracy… you’re gonna get a conspiracy.” And for that reason, I’ve always said that *certain* people read into things too much, he’s just living his life, blue & green are just colors, etc. But the cryptic merch (among other things) confirms that he peppers easter eggs and subliminal messages throughout his interactions with fans. What’s intentional versus what’s happenstance becomes anyone’s guess. And without any input from him regarding the meaning, all sides of the fandom are free to interpret it however they want. I just feel like it’s a breeding ground for theories and speculation that are insulting to Louis and his career. Not his fault that some people are delulu, but idk why he’d want to feed that, even indirectly. 🤷‍♀️

I completely agree with everything you've said.

I think the new designs are great and the drop was a bit unexpected, since today's not the 28th. But this morning I had a feeling that it was some sort of peace offering - he knows we're getting restless from lack of content (it's almost been 3 months since AFHF and nothing has happened except from stalkers and third parties content as per usual). We don't know where he's at with recording LT2.

So he's giving us clues as a little game to sustain us in our waiting. Except - fool me once, fool me twice... months after the 369 merch drop we're still at the same place - not knowing what it means. So now I'm wondering how long we're gonna have to wait before any of this makes sense. And because we've been here before, my guess is that it's gonna be a long time, so... back to square one.

As for the Easter eggs and messages - you're spot on. From his lyrics, to his fashion and to the concepts of his music videos, it's clear that Louis has a clear vision of the stories he wants to tell, where he draws his inspiration from, his cultural references, etc. I wish we could hear him talk about that more. He puts so much thoughts into all of that and for what? For the Making Walls video to disappear? For his fans to never listen to what he has to say about his songs?

Merch is nice, music would be better. There needs to be content, end of the story. But it would be great to have additional content about his work (BTS, making off, track by track etc etc etc) so the focus finally be Louis The Artist and not Louis The Celebrity.

What even is refraining him from announcing the merch drops himself, by more than a retweet (that is Jessie's anyways)... His lack of content on his social media channels is puzzling and as you say, maybe it's a sign of him wanting to be private - but then these cryptic messages are the opposite of that and encourage us to look for clues in everything, until Louis has to film himself in an empty closet so fans can't locate him geographically.

All of this is very strange...

Anyways, back to the merch, I hope some Louies will get some lovely Christmas presents!

I don’t think anything.

The only reason why their closeness is being questioned with alarming frequency is because of IG, and now everyone is expecting them to flaunt one another in order to have their insecurities about relationships they’re not in assuaged.

I also feel like this constant narrative of “Jikook are always together!” really doesn’t help because, sure, while there is truth in it, no one can really verify whether they actually are spending every waking moment together, and yet this narrative perpetuates this idea. So for all intents and purposes, this perceived “lull” between them could very well be normal for them, but it still wouldn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

Case in point: Memories 2020 when Jikook mentioned they’d gone out drinking. Literally none of us knew that they’d hung out until they mentioned it. No content on Twitter or Weverse—nothing. Were it not for Jimin biting Jungkook, that moment would’ve been lost into the ether. Hallelujah for drunken shenanigans.

Am I open to the possibility that they might be exploring adulthood separate of one another, in opposite directions? Sure. But I can only say that because once again, I don’t know them and what they’re doing in their personal lives, just in the same way that neither you nor I can say they’re not close. What do we know about them? Nothing.

I will scream this from the rooftops forever if I have to: We. Don’t. Know. Them.

But my issue with this type of question being asked is not because it’s being asked at all but because of the insecure (or smug, from the other side) undertones that are often attached to it.

And I really think this matter of closeness should be framed differently. What people are actually asking when they pose this question is, “Are Jikook still romantically close?”

Because these men are going to go their own separate ways one day and do things/carry on with relationships independently from one another, and guess what? They’re still going to be close. Unless an implosion of TVXQ proportions happens to them, BTS will be 7 for eternity.

So really, it’s the lack of romantic implications people are worried about, and while I find several things wrong with this, it’s extremely reflective of the mindset they have about what constitutes a romantic relationship.

None of the boys owe ARMY any explanation about the intricacies of their relationships with one another. I think people need to stop romanticizing what they think romantic relationships should look like, and I also think people need to stop expecting to be “fed” Jikook content in order to feel secure. I’m not saying people can’t miss them being seen or doing things together/mentioning one another, but you all have to stop equating visibility with closeness. It literally means nothing.

Side note: I hate sharing anecdotes because of the implication that it somehow makes what I’m saying more meaningful (it doesn’t), but it is somewhat relevant despite my experience being a drop in the ocean.

If a stranger were to look at my IG, amongst all of the photos I’ve posted, I only have one posed with a boy. Arguably not platonic. He is not my current boyfriend; the boy in said photo is my ex from years ago. I have no photos of me with my current beau, with whom I’ve been in a relationship for years now. Honestly? I don’t have a reason for it. My friends and family know who he is because they see him all the time, and he is the main feature in my photo gallery, but I just have nothing of him or us together on social media. It’s a big WTF for people who don’t know me that well and assume I carry a torch for an old paramour, or that I’m currently single, but I really couldn’t be arsed to do anything about it.

The way I cultivate my IG is clearly very different from how you, everyone else, and the boys do with your own IGs. And sure, for a lot of people, their IGs are an exact reflection of what’s going on in their lives and people they’re with. But at the end of the day, it’s near impossible to whittle down a person’s life to their social media account(s) unless you actually know the person.
