(1x3) i love this show's portrayal of clark so, so much. i love how his sense of identity and where he comes from is such a massive theme - how he becomes superman in an attempt to better understand himself as a person, as well as satisfy his need to help people - but under all of that, the thing that matters most about clark is that he's a good person. it doesn't matter that he can fly or shoot lasers from his eyes - it matters that lois, within a day of meeting him, knows he would risk his job to help her if she just asked him to. it matters that he risked blowing his cover to save his friends. it matters that he only manages to discover new powers when somebody needs his help, never when they would be beneficial to him alone. rib him for being a boyscout all you like, but there's something so necessary imo about heroes who are wholly, unapologetically kind

thoughts and feelings about the line "i don't have to be better (stronger) than you, i just have to stop supplying you with power" in a fight where the villain is a walking example of a corrupt rich capitalist who only cares about himself, who earlier stated that nobody could trust superman to save them because "can we really trust a stranger to help us for free? of course we can't", who tried to get reporter clark kent to stay quiet about the corruption he witnessed by bribing him with "classier ladies" than lois, who abuses and berates the assistant who runs his entire operation.

and then, when clark saves him - "you ruined me. what's your angle? what's in this for you?" "...dr ivo, look around. is it that hard to believe that some people just want to help?"

this show really isn't shying away from the whole Rich Capitalists Don't Care About You And Society Is Corrupt thing and i'm so glad to see it - this is a superman story, after all. standing up to corruption and inequality is kinda the point.

This is what a LOT of people don't get about him they think Bruce takes in children and makes them his soldiers when really the kids themselves chooses Dick practically was going to walk away from Bruce in the old comics if he didn't get to be the one who took down his parents murder and sometimes that rage doesn't go away so Bruce allowed Dick to keep it so that he would be become someone better and more out spoken than Bruce on so many more levels that people don't see that really it's mostly on the individual choice
