118 arriving to a scene. Building on fire, people trapped within. Half collapsed, partially on fire staircase leading into the building.
Bobby: Eddie, looks like we got a special code 31 on this.
Eddie: you got it cap. Buck, you’re with me.
- - - - - - - later at the Madney House - - - - - -
Maddie: So… what’s a special code 31? I heard Bobby use it over the dispatch…?
Chim: Oooh that. When we’re at a scene and there’s a high chance of your brother doing something stupid and getting himself killed, Bobby tells Eddie to take Buck somewhere that he can help but where he won’t… find a way to get himself killed. Again. They don’t want to tell Buck so the code is-
Maddie: Special code 31. Wow. Ok. Um so why’d he ask Eddie to help with it?
Chim: Since the well incident and especially since Eddie worked at dispatch, Buck will go anywhere Eddie asks him. He’ll do anything Eddie asks him to do.
Maddie: Curious… well, I’m sure there’s a heterosexual explanation for that.
Baby Jee: (rolls her eyes)

I finally got caught up on s7 of 9-1-1 and can I just say . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'M SO GLAD FOX CANCELLED IT SO THAT ABC COULD SAVE IT!!!! Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the show, I still loved the characters and wanted Buddie before but I feel like in a way FOX stopped trying or caring and the show started to feel different. Even after so many minutes in the first episode of s7, it felt different in the best possible way. Two episodes in and the show is the best it's been in a while and I'm so happy it was picked up by a network that saw its potential and cared. The show was starting to feel kind of stifled in a way and it wasn't the actors fault, now it feels like new life and energy was breathed into it. It reminds me of a time when 9-1-1 was at its best, s7 is already so freaking good and I can't wait for what the rest of the season and series has in store on ABC!!!!??!!!!

Buck loves kids. He's always loved kids. Well, apart from ages eleven through fourteen, but in his defence, middle school kids are quite literally evil. Like spawn of satan evil.
Apart from Christopher. He's an angel.
But the point is, Buck's always loved kids. Its why he always volunteers to free little girls from claw machines or bundle little boys up in his turnouts.
He loves kids. He loves talking space with Denny, and pretending to know video games with Harry, and having very serious conversations with Jee.
He loves kids. Never thought he could have them when he was younger, assumed he'd be fun uncle Buck forever. He loves kids. Wants them more than anything, maybe more than a partner. He loves kids. That's why he—
Fuck.
"Hey," Eddie leans against his locker, back in his street clothes, unbearably soft in the morning light. "Chris is getting all antsy about his dance on Friday, could use a hand helping him calm down long enough to try his suit on?"
He raises a hopeful eyebrow, but all Buck can see is the memory playing in Eddie's eyes. The memory of Buck, teary-eyed and half-drunk, a week after his parents left the state, telling Eddie he'd never been to a school dance because he was always grounded. That he'd only ever made it to prom because he'd asked the daughter of one of his dad's colleagues and he wouldn't let Buck stand her up.
"Sorry, man." He smiles, he wonders how long both of them can keep pretending its not a grimace. "Looking after Jee whilst Maddie and Chim go house hunting."
"Oh." Eddie blinks, the corners of his mouth twitching up. "You could always bring her along. She might be a good distraction for Chris, and you know—"
"No." Buck clears his throat, looks very hard into his locker for the hoodie he knows he already packed into his duffel. "I mean, I just hardly get any time with her, you know? So, I just kind of want to..."
"Oh, yeah, sure. 'Course, man." Eddie doesn't bother with a grimacing smile, just lets the furrow crease his brows. "Gotta keep up the title of best uncle, right?"
"Please." Buck scoffs. "Can she say Albert's name?"
"Right." Eddie nods with pursed lips. "Definitely doesn't have anything to do with easier phonetics and half the amount of syllables."
"Wow. I thought you were supposed to be on my side."
And, see, he means it as a joke. The whole conversation is a joke, really. Like Buck desperately doesn't want his niece and his— His Christopher to coexist in the same space, in the warm embrace of the Diaz house, home. But he can't, he just can't.
Still, its a joke. Only Eddie must be done with his jokes because he steps in closer, lays a gentle hand on his bicep and ducks his head until Buck has to meet his eyes. Like the tsunami.
Like the start of it all.
"I'm always on your side, Buck." He murmurs, more of a breath than anything. A confession that makes Buck a little dizzy. And then, Eddie's patting his arm and sweeping out of the locker room just as Hen and Chim come in.
"We'll drop Jee off at eleven, Buckaroo?" Chim says.
"Yeah. Sounds good."
Two days after Jee-Yun gives him the best workout of his life, he shoots a text to Hen asking if she wants to take Denny to the Renaissance Fair which had finally reopened after dealing with the bee problem.
He doesn't mean to do it is the thing. Sure, in his probie year, after Hen had finally trusted him enough to let him meet Denny, they'd hung out all the time. He'd practically fast-tracked his way to uncle Buck. But then, Eddie Diaz had waltzed into his life and said I'm all he's got and the rest—
Well, the rest is history.
But the thing is, Buck's DNA is floating somewhere in the American healthcare system in a little plastic cup with a green lid and he's trying very hard not to think about all the ways that could break him into a million pieces.
Because there's something hollow and empty inside of him that's slowly been shattering ever since Connor said that he didn't have enough swimmers. And it crumbles a little more every time he thinks of Christopher.
He thinks of that night in his loft with a frustrated rant, and two indulgent Diaz boys, a missing couch, and a lasagne that took three tries to get it right. A night that had become routine for them. And now he hasn't seen Christopher in almost two months, hasn't seen Christopher since—
Since Lev.
Two months he's spent trying desperately not to think of the way he'd seen Christopher safe in Eddie's arms and collapsed into a heap because his job was done and that was enough. Two months he's spent trying not to think about the flash of happiness that came with the end of a tsunami. Two months he's spent trying not to think about how he's buried that realization for almost three years.
He just. Christopher is growing up, he's lying to his dad, and sneaking out to see his friends, and going to dances, and having crushes. And Buck is trying so hard to remember. To listen to the cyclical chant of guardian, not dad echoing around his skull every time Eddie turns to him expectantly upon a mention of his son.
Because he has an answer to Hen's question. Finally.
But, fuck, he doesn't even really care about his sperm anymore. He doesn't give a fuck about the abstract concept of a child biologically half his out there in the world, out of sight and out of reach. He just doesn't care. Because nothing will ever hurt as much as having everything he's ever wanted at his fingertips and still not being able to grab it for fear of it vanishing into thin air.
He doesn't care about not getting to raise his child because there's a child he actually cares about, a child he's been raising. A child that's not his, but could be—
Fuck.
So, he's at a renaissance fair with his friend and her son, picking out a sword so that his niece knows that she doesn't have to be a damsel in distress, but he's trying so damn hard not to think about a little kid—who's not really all that little anymore—sat in a barber's chair because he wanted to look good for his crush.
It feels a lot like pressing his thumb into the space between bruised ribs.

Buddie incorrect quotes #1 Ring Ring
This idea came from @Caitpatmosh from TikTok
*At the grant/nash house athena took the kids out*
Chimney: Hey Buck do you still have that movie I lent to you
Buck: I think so. Where did I put it
*Buck unknowingly showed the ring he was wearing on his hand*
*Chimney Gasp*
Buck: What?
*Chimney excited mode*: Oh my god Oh my god it finally happened . DID IT FINALLY HAPPEN
Buck: Did what happen?
Chi: Yes Maddie and Hen owes me 50 bucks. GUYS GET IN HERE
Bobby : What’s wrong?
Maddie: What happened Chim?
Hen: What is going on over here?
*Chimney points to Buck’s hand*: Look. At. His. Hand.
*Everone sees the ring and gasp*
Maddie: Shut. Up
Bobby: Oh Buck
Hen *Frustrated that she lost the bet*: Oh for Goodness sakes
Maddie: Damn it Ev. You couldn’t have waited another year.
Maddie: I mean I’m happy for you but now I owe Chim 50 bucks

Chimney: Okay so obviously I’m the wedding planner
Hen: God help us all

Chimney: Hey you’re still ordained right
Eddie: Ordained
Karen: Are you and Maddie finally getting married
Chimney: Ha ha I wish. No this is for Buck and Eddie

Bobby: It would be the single greatest honor of my life
Buck: Oh my god I’m going to cry
Eddie: I think we’re getting carried away here
Chimney: Next Eddie you gotta pick your best man
Hen: This is ridiculous
Eddie: Yeah none of you are gonna be my best man
Hen: You wouldn’t pick me as your best (wo)man
Eddie: Ay Dios Mío
Taylor: Hey guys can I help with the wedding too
Eddie: Noo!
Chimney: Sure you can be the ring bearer
Hen: That is way too much responsibility for her
Chimney: Oh yeah your right. You can be the usher
Maddie: That still may be too much
Buck: You guys this is so sweet but there’s not going to be a wedding
Chimney: Evan "Buck" Buckley. I will die from a rod to the head before you get married in a courthouse
Maddie: And I’ll be damned if I’m not the best woman
Bobby: I will walk you down any aisle Buck
Eddie: We are not engaged
*Everyone shocked pikachu face*
Chimney: What?
Buck: Yeah
Karen: I’m confused
Chimney: Where’d you get that huge ass ring
Buck: It’s from one of Jee’s bath bomb that has Jewelry in it.
Buck: *shows the ring* It’s pretty right
*Everyone glares at Eddie*
Bobby: So you didn’t propose
Eddie: Nooo
Chimney: Well when the hell are you proposing man
Eddie: W-Uh I mean uh
Eddie: What’s that Chris you need me I’ll be right there
*Hen who knew all along*: Jesus Christ

I will sell my soul for a scene at the end of the episode where Buck is released from the hospital and both Eddie and Athena are fighting over who gets to take Buck home, cause he is not supposed to stay alone during his recovery, while Bobby looks at Buck, who is literally crying happy tears cause he has never felt so cared for before in his life
Obviously he chooses to go to the Diaz household because Chris is there and they get to watch a million documentaries and movies together, while the rest of the firefam is constantly visiting them because they need to see Buck is alive with their own eyes. Eddie will fret over the littlest thing, will get him too many pillows and won’t let Chris cuddle next to him just in case he hurts him (but of course they end up cuddling anyway because “the pain is worth is Eds”. Bobby will bring Buck his favourite food and call Eddie over a million times, to the point where he is driving him insane, just to make sure Buck is taking his medicine, and Athena will jump in to see if Buck is resting properly, while Hen and Karen come over almost every day because “Denny wanted to play his new game with Chris” but really they just want Buck to know he is a part of their family too; and Chim and Maddie will bring Jee over every day so that she can spend time with her Uncle Buck, and after Chim leaves Maddie stays to look after her little brother.  Some days Albert will come over too, and argue with Buck over who is the best Uncle, but he will let Buck win the argument everytime because he’ll gladly let Buck be the favourite if that means that he gets to live. May will leave earlier from college with a lame excuse and Athene will pretend she is upset about it, but secretly she’d rather have her be absent because she wants to “ask him for help with her homework” than to have her be absent because she has to attend his funeral.
I just want the 118 to show Buck how important he is and shower him with the love he deserves.

Jee-Yuns' Playtime
Jee-Yun centric cause she needs love! She's adorable😭, also I'm basing her personality off Lily from Modern Family and the stories of her going to daycare/pre-school and meeting kids whilst getting into mischief. No coherent storyline, just funny tidbits I think would happen when she ultimately goes to school.
Tumblr media
After Jee-Yun turned four, Maddie and Chim decided she was ready for preschool(Hen convinced them too). The first few days had been great. The teachers and caretakers were super helpful and reported that she was on her best behavior. Wouldn't fuss when told no and wouldn't throw a tantrum when naptime was supposed to happen.
Everything was great. Till it wasn't. Which, okay, Maddie and Chim were dramatic, but to be fair they didn't expect her to be an imp this early. At least in front of others.
"She what?"
"She put a kid in time out." Mrs.Niamh answered smiling humorously.
"How?/Why?" The Buckley-Han parents wondered. Smiling brighter, trying not to laugh, Mrs.Niamh replied.
"He tried putting glitter on the floor and she caught him. Walked opposite of the room, yanked the glitter bottle out of his hands, and said, 'You'll get it back when you stop trying to sparkle the room! Go in the book corner!'." Makes sense. Jee-Yun hated glitter. It offended her to the core. One time Maddie tried putting some glitter in her fair for a small party with the firehouse crew and Jee ran to the garden hose and sprayed the glitter out of her hair.
Other parents would be mad, obviously, but Maddie couldn't help but be impressed that she efficiently undid her tight hair and didn't get her clothes wet. Gotta recognize the tenacity I guess.
-------------------------------------------
"Mason was crying today."
"Oh no, how come?"
"Someone put sand in his hair." The dead tone in her voice was surprisingly enjoyable for the adults. Especially with something random or just outright sad. She was like Lily from Modern Family. Except, not a little bitch. No shade to her though, she's iconic.
"Awh, poor Mason. Did you help him get it out?" The silence was the only answer Maddie received. Raising a brow, Maddie turned slightly to her kid in the living room. Who was sitting on the floor drawing random things on the coffee table. "Jee?"
"I might have, been the one to put it in his hair." Not looking up but slowly coloring the mini poodle she drew. Pursing her lips, Maddie huffed through her nose trying not to break. She needed to set an example.
"Oh. Why?"
"He was in the way." Maddie has a few weaknesses. This was one of them.
-------------------------------------------
Dropping off Jee-Yun and Nia along with the boys at Athena and Bobby's was an idea. Whether it was a good idea was still up to debate between Chim and Buck. Anyway, Christmas was three weeks away and Athena liked to decorate early so they wouldn't stress about it later. So she got Harry, Christopher, Denny, and the girls to help out.
While the Denny worked on the garlands, Chris and Harry helped the girls put the ornaments on the lower part of the tree. Athena was working on the taller bits. Nia was being organized, moving some around if it didn't look proportional in her brain. Jee-Yun on the other hand couldn't care less for symmetry.
Looking down Athena laughed at the scene beneath her. Chris was handing Jee ornaments while she placed them where she wanted. And what she wanted was 9 ornaments on the same branch. Taking a quick picture, Athena sent it to the family group chat and was bombarded with 'awes'.
-------------------------------------------
During Spring the kids were able to go outside and enjoy nature in the backyard of their daycare. Jee-Yun was playing with ladybugs she found in the grass in the corner while the other kids were running around near the jungle gym and swings.
When she felt something hit her head, she rubbed the top of it and looked around. A branch had fallen from the tree in front of her. Looking up at it, Jee-Yun wondered what it would be like to be that high up. So she set out to find out.
Gripping the crevices of the tree as best she could she climbed up without letting any of her teachers notice. Once up to the top she looked around and saw the city buildings in the distance. Yawning, she realized she was tired and leaned backward on the tree closing her eyes. A small nap couldn't hurt, right?
It could be if your dad was a firefighter and your mom was a first responder. When the teacher noticed that the girl with purple shoes wasn't in her favorite corner of the classroom, she immediately informed someone. And that someone called 911. And the person who answered was May.
Who glanced over at Maddie enjoying her lunch peacefully. Yeah no, keep quiet for now till they get someone on it. And that they did, the 118 that is. Chim getting shot was less stressful than this. He was the one who convinced Maddie to leave his little girl at the daycare to relieve the stress on them and the team.
"Chim you gotta focus or you're staying near the truck," Bobby said firmly despite his worries building.
When arriving parents were already picking up their kids. Ignoring the children awing them, they walked over to the teacher who initially reported the missing girl.
"I only noticed till the last 30 minutes, how she slipped my view I don't know. She's always very outspoken!"
This was true. Jee-Yun was a force of nature that the world wasn't ready for.
"The last time I saw her was outside in the back near the jungle gym. I got distracted with other students." Chim didn't blame her, he didn't, but his dad mode was kicking up and he didn't want to be near her right now. Instead, he veered off with Ravi following him to look around the fence to ensure none of it was clipped or open.
As the others called out, Hen looked up at the rustle in the leaves. Getting directly underneath she looked up and saw little feet dangling.
"Jee!" She yelled out multiple times gathering the attention of her team.
"No sarang, ireona!" Chim yelled in Korean waking up the girl successfully. Rubbing her eyes, she looked down and saw her family beneath her.
"Hi, Daddy!"
Breathing out a sigh of relief, the team got the ladder and got her down.
"Wanna explain why you gave your teacher a heart attack by climbing a tree?"
"I wanted to know what it would be like to be a branch. And I was sleepy."
Laughing at her explanation, the teacher thanked them, farewelled the 2/3 Buckley-Han duo, and left. Putting Jee-Yun in the fire truck was a fun car ride back to the station.
When they told the story to Maddie back home, they all laughed while watching Turning Red. Chim couldn't help but compare the girl in overalls to his passionate and blunt daughter.

"I just don't think it's me you want, Evan.", that's what Tommy said after rescuing Chimney from being kidnapped and bringing him to the wedding venue.
This is a one shot I wrote. Have a look if you like!

For the people in the back (who I know don’t exist because we all are already in front about this):
Bobby did not demand Chimney, Buck’s soon-to-be brother-in-law, the father of Buck’s niece, and who’s known Buck longer, to stop doing CPR. He demanded that Eddie not be able to even look at Buck while he didn’t have a heartbeat on the way to the hospital. BobbyKnows™. It’s going to be Eddie who takes over as they wheel Buck in to the hospital. Normally-stoic-about-others/emotionally-fragile-about-himself Eddie is going to struggle with his emotions while Buck is in the hospital. It’s watching a rehearsal of a scene between Eddie’s son and Buck that made an actress cry. This. Is. Not. How. You. Discourage. Shippers. From. Shipping. This is how you give shippers unfettered hope.
Regardless of what actually does come of this, we are not ready for next week, and we won’t be ready. We’ll all just have to be slapped around by next week’s episode.

i saw this tik tok and now i can't stop thinking about uncle buck babysitting jee and creating this game to keep her entertained. he puts his wildest shirts, oldest pants and everything in front of her and she always, without exception, chooses the ugliest clothes that never match. and buck of course puts them on, because jee chose them and bc "uncle buck, pls 🥺"
and he pretends he hates them, he's very dramatic about it just to make jee laugh but secretly he doesn't really mind. he sends pics with these outfits and making weird funny faces to the gc and lets the 118 and the rest of their family tease him about it.
eddie saves the pictures every time bc they're adorable and he's in love and he maybe, kinda wants buck to do this with their daughter someday. maybe. he likes to think about it, sometimes.
also, jee loves the game so much that she eventually forces chim to do it too and ofc sometimes, somehow, he even ends up wearing one of maddie's tops that look ridiculous on him. ( maddie never lets him live it down and the pics are all over the gc, buck happy that now he's not the only one getting teased )
( albert ends up being part of the game too, eventually. he is not amused by it. )

you can ebb and i can flow (grow as we go) / buck & eddie
So Eddie got it wrong. He thought this thing building between them was something it wasn’t. He was sure of it– until pretty, understanding Natalia came into the picture and suddenly Buck was out of alignment again, a glint in his eye and voice tender when he told Eddie all about how she was different.
But it’s fine. It’s fine! He’s trying to be supportive, alright? Buck came back from the dead and hasn’t found his footing yet, so Eddie’s taken matters into his own hands and taken a bit of creative liberty with it.
A double date with his best friend and his expert-in-death girlfriend, and the girl he swore he’d never have a second date with. As far as Eddie’s concerned, this is the best idea he’s had in a while.
or: buddie goes on a double date with other people, eddie pines like it's his job, and they talk things out. FINALLY. god.
