Encanto genderbend names and personalities
Alma I’m keeping her the same
Julieta/Julius In essence the same with a bit of subconscious Toxic masculinity
Pepa/Pedro Simps for his short queen wife and overprotective of his shapeshifter daughter
Bruno/Bianca had to deal with a lot of unwanted advances from jerks who were “willing to settle for her” she’s the baby sister so these guys were swiftly “delt with”
Felix/Felicia she and Pedro are just a feedback loop of simping for eachother
Augustine/Adella less clumsy because a pregnant woman with Augustine’s level of clumsiness would not be a good thing
Isabela/Isa was taught to be the man of the house works with crops instead of flowers bit of toxic masculinity
Dolores/Darío overprotective big brother but he has super hearing so good luck to anyone perving on Camila
Luisa/Luis wouldn’t have any insecurities about his body like Luisa (the fannon version at least) is actually quite popular with girls though he’s oblivious to it loves his baby brother more then anything
Camilo/Camila the oldest girl in the most influential family and with the power of shape shifting she tends to get a lot of attention some innocent some less so her parents and brother have managed to shield her from the worst of it so far she’s definitely daddy’s little Princess usually stays in her “true” form since she finds it cute on its own
Mirabel/Milagro very similar to cannon Mirabel but a bit closer to the warm side of the family since he makes dresses for his Primas
Antonio/Ángel obsessed with stuffed animals and always wants to have tea party’s with her siblings and favorite primo

Random funny / quirky headcanons
When it comes to Bruno, Julieta is the overprotective big sister.  When it comes to Pepa, Julieta is the annoyingly hyper responsible big sister
Julieta sometimes calls Bruno “Baby Brother”
Felix and Augustine talk Bruno into going out drinking with them occasionally.  But Bruno doesn’t hold his liquor well and gets way too drunk.  Always ending up passed out back home in a hammock (after a lot of vomiting) with Julieta taking care of him.
Bruno and Pepa engage in name calling and vulgar banter as a form of normal communication between the two of them.  Julieta has to remind them that there are children in the house and stop fucking cursing.
Bruno and Pepa don’t always get along very well, which sometimes causes them to throw food at each other, which causes Julieta to throw food at them.
Dolores, Camilo and Isabella have a secret gossip club where they meet in Dolores’ room and listen to her spill all the dank family tea
When Bruno saw Camilo’s version of him he was flattered that he made him so tall
Luisa is still afraid of Bruno, but only because he’s 100 pounds and she’s pretty sure she could break all his bones by just looking at him
Julieta doesn’t want rats in the kitchen, which Bruno respects until she’s not looking
After returning home, Bruno moves his rat theater into the courtyard where he uses it to put on rat performances for Antonio
Antonio becomes an essential part of the production, as he helps Bruno communicate with his actors
Alma is displeased by the rat theater but lets it go because Bruno is back and that’s all that matters

my encanto analysis/headcanon that no one asked for
so, i was just looking through some encanto fanart and headcanons and came across this piece (artist: https://mobile.twitter.com/ye_enc):
Tumblr media
abuela had triplets - julieta, pepa, and bruno. both julieta and pepa had three kids - isabella, luisa, and mirabel for julieta, and dolores, camilo, and antonio for pepa.
what i noticed is that for each batch of three, each individual falls under a certain category, and it seems to follow by age.
julieta was, as this lovely fanart shows, likely depended on quite frequently for her ability to heal via her cooking. her gift would have been the most useful and therefore she likely would have been praised the most as “the perfect one”.
this, of course, next falls to isabella, who we see this with the most frequently. abuela very clearly is living the life she wished she could have lived through isabella, and is viewed as the perfect golden child by everyone around her.
dolores is a little different, but i believe she still fits the trope. she is basically the physical embodiment of “seen but not heard.” she keeps quiet on the things she knows would upset her family and doesn’t make herself heard, even when she is in pain, whether physical or emotional. she doesn’t tell anyone that she knows bruno has been living in the walls for the ten years he’s been missing; she doesn’t tell anyone about her feelings for mariano, because she knows that will upset abuela and her cousin’s “perfect for the encanto” arrangement; and one can only imagine how loud certain things are to her, that are endurable for us (fireworks, for example).
next are the middle children: pepa, luisa, and camilo. all of them have some kind of pressure on their shoulders. (and - just a fun thing i noticed - while luisa’s literal pressure is the many things she carries, pepa’s pressure is atmospheric pressure, because she controls the weather. but anyway, lol).
all three of these characters are told in one way or another to bottle up their emotions and keep them buried inside. with pepa, we see this very directly as she is constantly told by the other characters (especially abuela) to, as the fanart above shows, calm down and essentially turn off her emotions because of the damage she can cause with her weather powers. this kind of reminds me of the “conceal, don’t feel” thing that elsa had with her gloves. both pepa and elsa demonstrate the same growth throughout their movies, too - learning to accept themselves and their abilities and thus being able to control them instead of being controlled by them - but, i digress.
luisa, by contrast, is indirectly told to keep her emotions at bay. she is treated as something of a useful tool, both by the town and by abuela, and seen in a very masculine light despite her relatively feminine personality. because of this treatment and the expectation that she will always be strong that comes with it, she falls into the same category as pepa.
camilo, like dolores, is a little different, but still fits. we don’t see much of him in the movie, but i imagine he is depended on as being the funny one. if anyone reading this is into k-pop or bts, think of camilo as like the j-hope or the jin of the group. he’s always expected to be funny and smiling, lifting everyone else’s spirits - but who lifts his spirits?
and lastly, we have the youngest siblings - bruno, mirabel, and antonio. they fit into the roll, of course, of the scapegoat, of family disappointments.
bruno was rejected by the town and by his family, seen as a harbinger of chaos and horror, a bad omen - all because he can see the future, something that he obviously cannot control. but, of course, it’s easier to simply blame someone else than accept the truth or take responsibility for your own actions.
mirabel, of course, is treated in much the same way. she is seen as a bad omen, as well, and is quite literally feared to be the one who will destroy the family and the encanto, because of bruno’s vision.
antonio does not quite fit into this category, but i think if he had not gotten a gift, he would have been shunned in much the same way as bruno or mirabel. it can also be argued that his gift isn’t really very useful, and we can see abuela struggle for a moment to think of how they could put his gift to use at the breakfast at the beginning of the movie (”i told them to warm up your seat”).
anyway - this is all to say that each of the siblings in each of the batches of three appears to fill (or almost fill) the same rolls. i’m sure someone else has already noticed this and i’m just late to the party - but i thought it was cool.

What Shall Come To Be
A Secret Santa gift. Happy holidays, @madrigaljail !
This piece is inspired by A Prophet in His Own Land. I'm so intrigued by the idea of Bruno knowing early on about his fate, that he will fade from the mural and in the family, and him reflecting on that through his youth and young adulthood.
10/10 recommend A Prophet in His Own Land and all of @madrigaljail's work on A03! Absolutely fantastic!

The Vally of the lost
This is basically my idea for a massive crossover of a lot of @toaverse au’s
Many of the casitas in different universes are interconnected and have ways of sharing memories
In most universes the madrigals are a good and loving family
Unfortunately in others some members are cruel and abusive
So some of the casitas who are forced to watch their favorite Madrigals suffer because of an entitled village and so called family members plan prepare and bide their time
This all comes to a head when one of the casitas collapses
It rebuilds itself in a world where non of the madrigals survived the raid and the Encanto does not exist taking its favored madrigals with it
The other casitas then abandon their worlds merging with the first casita and taking their madrigals with them as well
It’s pure chaos and confusion as everyone tries to figure out what happened
In the shitty Pepa au most of the family lost their gifts cause casita took them and then gave them to the family members that deserved it
The other casitas like that idea and copy it
They eventually calm down and start talking about their respective worlds and what it was like
Basically like a giant bonding/group therapy session
They all have some trouble at the beginning with expecting people to act like their counterparts but they work through it
Found family but it’s better versions of your actual family
The village gets started when yellow butterflies start leading refugees of la violencia to the vally

I can't imagine the amount of stress Julieta can have when her gift can't heal someone Ex: terminal illness, old age, etc. This is young Augustin (mustacheless) comforting young Julieta after someone she was close with passes. I think her gift has some limitations and so in my headcanon this pushes her to learn more of the medicinal properties of food and herbs.
